Absolutely terrible company

They installed a very expensive central AC system only 3-4 years ago in our condo.

The blower fan needs to be replaced. They finally called back saying they are willing to come out to take a look at it but will be charging a really high price just to diagnose it because they no longer do residential....

I said that's really not good business since they designed and installed the system.

Rob - I think that was his name - then said Look, we don't need your money because we have millions of dollars in commercial accounts,

WOW.

Great kamaaina service guys. We're only asking you to help us with something YOU GUYS installed. These fans are designed to last a decade or more and  it failed prematurely.

I wouldn't hire this arrogant obnoxious unreliable company for residential or commercial. Because you can be sure they won't support their installation or work if there are bigger fish to fry.

They ought to move their company to the mainland and change their name because they make local people look bad.

We called regarding 2 plumbing problems. They said they would CALL before coming over. They did NOT. When the plumber arrived, I told him to come back when we could stay for awhile (we only had 20 minutes) as I didn't want to pay for two trips. He said he could get them both done in 20 min. He couldn't. I told him we would not be paying for a second trip, but he came back and charged us for a second hour ($104) even though the TOTAL for the two trips was way less than one hour. And I had told him in advance we wouldn't pay for it. I sent in my check, subtracting the $104 from the bill. Never heard anything. Now, over one year later, I get a bill for the remainder!!! Ii would never use them again.

4 calls and each time I was told they would touch bases with their A/C technician and call me back.  Each time I expressed that my air condition was out and that I lived in Ewa Beach so I felt repair was critical.  Each time, I received no call back.  Must be too busy to worry about customer service.

Called and left a message at 5pm for a shower that was not working. Phone call was returned first thing the next morning and plumber had the problem fixed by noon that day! Super professional reception, thorough and efficient plumber. Much appreciated Alakai! Saved me a lot in time.

I had a great experience with Doc from Alaka'i Mechanical. I called them on Monday about a clogged bathroom sink. They set up your account and you wait for the first available tech to contact you. The next day Doc called saying he was on his way. It was a tough blockage but Doc was determined to flush it out. He did and within the hour my sink drain flow was good as new! I asked him what I could do to prevent this from happening and gave me some great tips. Definitely recommend them!

The technicians and staff are both friendly and easy to work with. However, I've found that it is difficult to get ahold of anyone in the office and they are not very thorough nor do they take responsibility for their own mistakes. They mis diagnosed the problem during the first visit but still charged me for coming out the second time even though the plumber said that they overlooked it the first time. They also cut unnecessary holes in the walls to try to access a pipe that they didn't end up using and charged me to patch the holes. If I were the business owner, I would not expect my customers to pay for a misdiagnosed problem and to fix mistakes made by my employees.

Awful service. They sent us a first plumber who was completely incompetent and spent 8 hours fixing his own mistakes. The following day, they sent a good plumber who did the job in 3 hours but they charged us for both plumbers (11 hours) for a job what should have taken 4 according to the building manager, our contractor and the technical manager of our condo. We complained 2 months ago and never heard back from them so we assumed they agreed to not charge us at all (which would have been the right thing to do). Instead, they are not hassling us to pay the full amount. Stay away from this company!

Thank you for the response, Jackson C. We had called for some maintenance work on our A/Cs and to re-route some old plumbing lines, NOT an emergency call, and we told the telephone representative this. We even asked how far in advance they were scheduling, since we needed to request leave a week or so in advance in order to be home for the work.

That your technicians don't charge this way if the job is scheduled a reasonable amount of time in advance was NOT relayed to us at all, even when we asked for more information about the we charge when we leave for the job policy--in fact, it was when we asked for more information about this policy, since it seemed like such a strange thing to do for all service calls, that the telephone conversation became...less than pleasant.

Your response that you only charge this way for emergency calls makes much more sense than what the representative said. I appreciate the clarification. Hopefully it will be information that all representatives give to potential customers in the future. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Last year I called Alaka'i for plumbing service and had a very bad experience. They service our building so I figured it would make sense to use them, but there was a lack of communication between the different plumbers, which caused a job that should have been completed within two days over twice that long to get done. It seemed like they are used to working on large plumbing jobs and will fit in small home jobs when they can, but I would recommend you go with someone else who will be more customer oriented for such a job. When I called to talk to a manager to explain the problems I was having with the company he said he would call me back but never did. I have no reason to question the quality of their work, but trying to work with them to complete the job was very difficult. As well as not being very efficient, they seem expensive.

Completely unprofessional company. This company did work on our building for a repiping project. First off the employees working in my unit were blasting their radio (even when they left for lunch). Not to mention, one guy would sing loudly with the radio. Second, after they were done each day they left dust a debris everywhere. Third, they removed a toilet to do work and when they were finished, they places it back without resealing with caulk or putting back the plastic coverings for the screws (and left a ton a debris, as stated previously). Fourth, they took an additional day of work and didn't bother to apologize or explain (an extra day with last minute notice is problematic since someone needs to be home the whole time they are there).

Terrible experience. Perhaps their dont-give-a-shit-attitude was maybe because the building was paying for it and not each individual unit. Or based on the other reviews, I'd credit it to to just bad credentials and management.

A bit pricey, but the service was outstanding. Had two infrequently used a/c's serviced and cleaned. Huge problem with pigeons. Technician cleaned out entire units and cleaned up nesting pigeon nests/crap underneath, too. Worked with me to develop a plan to keep pigeons away. While he scrubbed, cleaned and did all the grunt work, he sent us to City Mill to pick up birds-b-gone, a caulking like gel he squirted all underneath and on top of the a/c's. Also installed another product to deter birds on top of unit, a spider like wire device that flows with the wind.

Saw pigeons come back, go underneath a/c's and go back out. Contemplated for a bit on what to do, then flew off. For now, Val at Alakai Mechanical is my hero!

Plumber came out and did a decent job on a rental unit I manage.  Sounded reliable and knowledgeable.  About a month later had another unit getting leaked on from the above.  Unit above is being renovated and they shut off their water and came down at which point I allow them to cut open the ceiling to see the issue.  It is revealed that piping needs replacement.  I decide on the experience I just had, to call Alakai to get a QUOTE/PROPOSAL for the job since it would have to be done thru my unit.  Clearly explained that no work is needed, i need a proposal first.  Not gonna name the plumber, but he came in looked around with his phone, went upstairs, asked a few questions and then left.  3 months later NO quote/proposal and I get a bill for $345 with some bogus explanation of WORK that was performed!!!???  I called their admin and kindly explained that no work was done, the plumber was simply supposed to get me a quote/proposal which I still have not yet received.   They still send me a bill EVERY month for the $345....I called on 3 different occasions hoping someone with decency can understand it is fricking ridiculous to charge me for absolutely NOTHING!  NO work and NO proposal, he just showed up and it costs $345....just WOW!  It also didn't alarm these admin ladies when I said his written description of work for 2+ hours on the bill was totally fabricated because he didn't do any work.  The dumb ass lady on the phone actually said We charge for the time even if no work was done!! which makes absolutely no sense!  I'm basically telling them that their worker is falsely charging people and their attitude is just pay it...????.....I thought it could just be one terrible worker but they have  terrible admin as well!   It's  been close to 8 months now and I'm straight up not paying them!  They can mail me all they want I just throw it in a box just in case i need evidence to prove what a rip off this company is!

I used them originally in 2012 and I thought they were ok. However, recently, I called them to schedule plumbing service two days from that time. After I got the appointment, I had to pay my condo management $50 to schedule water shutdown in order to do the repair. However, I got a voicemail with unclear message and asked me to call them back. After calling them without anyone knows what's going on, the next day I finally got through with them and told they cannot honor the appointment because no technicians are available. I asked them why they made the appointment the first place, but no one, including the boss, can get me a clear answer. I am totally fed up with this place and will never use them again. This is totally an unpleasant experience. I also urge everyone not to use their service.

Excellent service, good price, prompt and on time, pleasant human being, good dispatch service, and AND the technician fixed the problem in short order.  The other company I called today couldn't be bothered, gave me an insane price, and couldn't fit me in for days!  So I'm very pleased with Alaka'i Mechanical plumbing experience today.

The plumber Alexander (Kaleo) Blatwell from Alakai is no good.  We worked with him previously to fix the leak of the shower drainage.  So we called him again to look at the toilet fill valve not filling the tank when we flushed.  He came and tinkered with the toilet valve for 5 minutes and claimed to have fixed it, and charged us $150, his hourly rate.  But the toilet fill valve still did not fill the water tank after each flush after he left.  We tried to call him back and text him multiple times to report that the problem still exists.  But he did not answer his phone or text anymore.  I checked with my bank and the check we wrote him was already cashed.  I understand during Covid-19 everybody may be short with income.  But avoiding taking responsibilities of the job one did not finish is not going to earn him any more business and hurt him in the long run.  I would like to put this out there to warn anybody who would consider hiring the plumber.  This is a plumber who does not return calls or text once he got your money.

Hate to give a bad review because they've always done good work for us in the past... but I scheduled an afternoon plumbing appointment for today (their usual is to say between 11am-2pm and then call you when they're about 30 min away) and I just never heard from anyone. I called the main office at 3pm and they said they were too busy to fit us in today. No one even called me, I had to call them to find out what happened. Rude and unprofessional. Will not be using their services again in the future.

Great job finding a slow leak from a unit above mine. He was also very patient w/ the idiots that live upstairs who did not think they could afford the $300 repair!. They really did not have a choice after it had been leaking for a month & they had been very evasive. He did a great job of covering the job w/a trap door. I will need more ceiling repair work to fix all of the peeling paint etc. He was on time, early even & worked very efficiently & did an excellent clean up job , even vacuuming the hallway where some of the ceiling dry wall was tracked. Our condo bldg uses them all the time. Thanks!

This is a big company with many plumbers working for them.  If you use them, request Doc.  He is physically very strong, very knowledgeable and professional, and best of all thorough and responsible.  He was very accommodating and seeing how he works, alleviated my fear that I will have future problems.

We had several items that needed fixing at our home that required multiple service dates. Our first plumber that came out to the house was stellar his name was Doc. The third plumber at our home seemed to have altered the work order for a service that was not completed.  
When I called the billing office no one seemed to care that we were over charged.  They asked me to write an email and no one even bothered to call back.  

I have been calling them since (4'xs) they over billed us in July of 2018. I have spoken to the same customer billing person Theresa N. and each time I call she asks me to send in my invoice number via email.  She also acts as though she never spoke with me when as she requested I sent   several emails. I last contacted her in September and sent yet another email attaching the incorrect invoice that they billed me for.  

Forget it. I'll suck up the additional charge for work that was not done and let everyone I know what a less than standard company this is due to their customer service and billing office.

BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES

Alakai Mechanical sent a bill for a trouble call months after I already paid in full for the repairs and fully settled the account.  Now they are aggresssively trying to collect on this despite never having obtained authorization, consent, quoted, approvals etc.

Just got a collection email at 4:42 am from someome named Lance Kurata, A/C Service Manager. Plain harrassment, now I will fight back thinking of the aunties and grandmas that are not able to.  Don't give business to companies like Alakai that are deceptive and heavy handed. There are plenty of good HVAC companies in Honolului, but not these guys.

So far I've used them three times and each time has been with really quick turn around times. On one occasion they had to come out more than once because I was still having problems and they handled that with professionalism. Jordan came today for a clogged drain. There was good communication from the time I made my appointment and he did a great job in under and hour. Very experienced and professional.

TERRIBLE COMPANY!!!!!! DO NOT USE THEM. I would strongly recommend using ANOTHER service provider than Alaka'i, unless you want to be RIDICULOUSLY OVERCHARGED and feel UNVALUED (or more like GARBAGE).

Let me warn you - they are completely unprofessional and disorganized. I've had several exchanges with them regarding payment - they don't know if and when an invoice is sent and no convenient bill pay method. This is not an issue at all! But their customer service is the WORST I've experienced in this friendly state of Hawaii. If a billing dispute occurs, they are not willing to budge at all - in fact, they would prefer you go somewhere else, especially if the bill is already paid. Pathetic and senseless especially given I had a standing contract with them for regular maintenance.

Feel free to DM me for exact details and the invoice, but I would like to share they spend ELEVEN HOURS fixing something very minor. I did my due diligence and received quotes from a number of other companies, and none even come CLOSE to the amount I paid with Alaka'i. Not sure if it's their incompetence - but I was billed 11 hours for something that should only take a fraction of the time. Perhaps they were taking advantage of the fact that I was servicing my vacation home, and I wouldn't personally be there to make sure they are actually working during those hours.

For example, do you think it's reasonable that I was charged THREE WHOLE HOURS (excluding transportation) for replaced faulty indoor control board with new one. Turned on machine and motor trying to start up by rocking. Motor did not run. Called tech support and did more check on motor. Found that indoor fan motor no
good also. Will replace motor.???????????? I am beyond confused! Are they completely incompetent in this area?

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. DO NOT WORK WITH ALAKA'I. THE MANAGER, LANCE, IS ALSO TERRIBLE AT SPEAKING WITH CUSTOMERS. YOU DO NOT DESERVE THIS. YOU HAVE PLENTY OF COMPETENT, COMPETITIVELY PRICED ALTERNATIVES.

If you are looking for alternatives, I would suggest Brett Hill, who are more responsive, organized, and all-around more professional.

Wow. Where do I start. Overcharged. Underperformed. Did not respond to my objection to the invoice. Took six weeks from initial call to give estimate for a time sensitive job. Told me it would be $114 an hour at one to two hours and the estimate would be provided that day or the next day. Then I got the Estimate -without the promised photos or videos - THREE WEEKS later!! For a time sensitive job. I emailed the contact to dispute the invoice and was ignored. Now I have received a late notice on the invoice stating that they are going to charge me interest. The estimate that took six weeks was twice the price of the other company who gave me a quote within two days and fixed it in three hours. While I heard AMC does good work, their response time, customer service, and aggressive invoicing for a job NOT done as agreed, leaves me disappointed. Now I will have more time wasted as I will be taking them to small claims court if they continue to try and collect for a job (just the estimate) that was not completed, not timely, and for a company who is very unresponsive.

Five days ago water would rise in my bath tub  every night then drain out in the morning .  The maintenence staff  at the condo tried to fix the problem. Last night the water would not drain even in the morning and I was worried the water would over flow. Finally the condo called Don of Alakai who went to my neighbor apt and cleaned out the drain.  The drain is now working well.  Thank you Don for a great job!

Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service/policy from plumbing department. Drain cleaning was scheduled for 9/1 for our unit, automically assigned by the association. It was noted that we'd be fined for not being present. Turns out both my wife and I work that day and were unable to get coverage/request off. Called Alaka'i plumbing and spoke to Brennan(sp?) who gladly rescheduled me for today since Alaka'i was gonna be on site 8/31-9/2. I gave him the whole day, stating that I'll gladly wait the whole day if they could just fit me in. I also offered anytime Wednesday since I was going to be home babysitting our son anyway. So Brennan(sp?) schedules me for Monday 8am-12pm. Wonderful! Later get called by Brennan who says his manager, CHAD, told him I can't switch my date/time, but would still do it 8/31 if I paid out of pocket $100/hr. This is nothing but EXTORTION and I refuse to give these guys one red cent of my hard earned money. Tried to get in touch with the manager, CHAD, but no return call as of yet. I've complained to management who says that this has happened to not only me, but several of my neighbors whose lives do not revolve around Alaka'i. As I type this complaint, I can hear/see them cleaning pipes and they all look like high school drop outs. $100/hr on top of what the association was going to pay you anyway?! Really?! Do your tattoos cost that much? Crooks, thieves, thugs, however you want to call it. I'll be hiring another company for drain cleaning, and have already got the approval of our manager, to do so.

On another note, last year we were able to reschedule to a different date for the same work related reasons. They did not show up! Sandra, the secretary in the management office can confirm this. But don't worry, we didn't fine anybody.

9/2/15 Update: Looking out the window I watched as an Alaka'i employee sat in front of an obviously empty apartment for ~30min+ glued to his phone (probably posting on Facebook how $100/hr has never been so easy), standing up now and then to knock again. Perhaps the apartment's occupant somehow cloaked themselves and managed to sneak by this distracted, overpaid youth? I approached him to ask why he couldn't just do my apartment instead since it was obvious that nobody was home. He took his eyes off his iPhone just long enough to say, We have to stick to the schedule. Ridiculous! If I sat on my butt scrolling through my phone during work hours I'd surely be fired! Man, I'm in the wrong business. To think all I needed was a GED or even less. Absolutely disgusted with how this company operates.

This company is horrible to work with.

Before I had them work on my valves to replace in my unit. I specifically requested Angled valves that were quarter turn. They supplied multiturn valves the day of install and told me if I told them to get the Quarter Turn Valves they would not cover the warranty on them. This was not told to me before hand.

Fine I don't care do the job and put in the valves I requested. This was done and the job was completed with my requested valves with no warranty.

Cut to a few months later I started having a leak from my ancient shower valve that was originally a three valve system with a divert valve in the middle.

Freaking out I called the same plumbers as before and ensured it had not leaked into my neighbors portion yet. It had not and the next day these plumbers came out and looked at it and told me the proposal would come tomorrow and they could get started in two days to fix the issue. One week went by and I had to call them....then call them...then call them again.

I gave up after a week and a half and went with Brison's Plumbing which he is great and did the proposal over the phone and got started the following Monday.

They finally sent me the proposal for their work today.....three days after it was already repaired.

Do not use these guys. The plumber who came out was a great guy but something is seriously messed up at their administration level. I will no longer have them EVER service my plumbing even though they are hired by my HOA.

I called to find out if a plumber was available that same day for a job that they worked on twice before.  I was told that they will not be able to tell me if they could go that day.  I would have to wait for the dispatcher to call when they ARE available. So it could also be the next day when I get the call (I was told).  Since it was urgent, we could not take a chance of just waiting for a phone call to see if they could accommodate us that day or not.  Most companies are able to tell you right away or call you right back to let you know.  We ended up calling another plumber company who was able to tell us right away that they could go the same day.

Called them about replacing a low boy water heater, they said sure we will come down and that they had opening this week.  I told them no rush, not an emergency and that I wanted to get a quote.  They said Oh a quote, well that will take a couple of days... well its been a week now and no quote.  Guess they only want to do emergency work so they can charge me arm and leg.....cause no one wants to shower in the cold...

Had an appointment and nobody showed up at the allotted time so called to check and the person said he would call me back. Waited an hour and nobody called so called again and the man that said he would call me back had gone home.. This was the same person who made the appointment.
An email was sent to the foreman to see if they could come on Saturday since I was going to have surgery and I never heard anything from him.
Very disappointing and upsetting experience.

I can't honestly give a review about their repair service because I never got that far.  They installed our ac unit ten years ago so I called them first for repairs.  For openers they wanted my credit card number up front.  Who does this?  Square can charge on a cell phone instantaneously.  More  on this later...So I give them my information, which I was hesitant to do, and I get a call back the next week to set up an appointment.  In the meantime I check the ever useful Yelp reviews and find out they start charging from when they leave their office to come to your place.  Who else does this?  My appointment was for Monday at 8am meaning one car wreck or gravel spill in rush hour and I'm out hundreds of dollars before they even set foot in my home!  Worst of all they didn't even volunteer that information.  So now they got my credit card number in their system and I didn't even use their service.  Never again!

To answer my questions who else does this, the answer is no one.  There are more honest, hungry shops in town that will repair ac and charge for the work they do and not charge for driving.  Go elsewhere and find a more honest approach to ac repair.  I'll write a review on an actual repair once I get the work done.

I try not to write any negative reviews but had to share my experience.
My shower and toilet was backed up. Call these guys, tech didn't seem like he was knowledgeable in the plumbing aspect but maybe knowledgeable in another (giving him the benefit of doubt). He was sloppy and clumsy, used the wrong tools to remove the toilet. Didn't fix the problem and charged me an outrageous amount. Next day the company called me and told me that he didn't charge enough and I owed more. I will never rely on this company for any repairs and will never give them a second chance.

Called a few times for service and lvm, no one called back.
Call again, I was told that I need to give them my full information including my credit card in order for them to check, due to their policy.
I asked the copy of policy and or contact.
They refused and said: they do not have it, you go find other companies. And hang up.

Use anyone but them. Used them since 2015 when our building was built and the last couple years have been nothing but issues. They can never schedule anything they say they will send over bids and never do. Lance refuses to answer the phone or return calls. If you don't want the business just say that.

Had some plumbing that required a licensed plumber in my condo. Called this company and the estimate was very affordable, so decided to go with them.
Technician named Darren came up to do the work and he was freakin awesome. He did everything we wanted plus some small work in the time they estimated it in. This guy was a hard worker and he really came prepared. The quality of his work was great and I found no flaws.

Pros:
Affordable, easy to schedule, on time, comes prepared, works efficiently, and great communication.

Cons:
None

Definitely will do business with them in the future and I'll recommend everyone to use them.

I called and left messages three times and they never returned any call.  When I finally did connect with them, they said they would send me an estimate which arrived the next day.  But there was a question which I researched and gave them the answer, then waited another day or so for them to give me an estimate.  On the second day, I emailed them to follow up and told them another problem had since surfaced and I was in need of more immediate attention.  Again, no reply.  I finally got in touch with them on the phone, was told the guy who would do the work was out and would not be available for another 10 days.  They would try to get someone else to help me and I emphasized that I need someone to get back to me as I have been waiting for over a week to get an appointment scheduled and now I have a leak that needs immediate attention.  As of now it's been two weeks since I first tried to contact them, you guessed it - still no reply.  I have crossed them off my list and am having the work done by someone else.

My office ceiling panal was soaked the next morning when I arrived to work.
Ala Moana Building recommended calling Alakai Mechanical for this problem.

Alakai Mechanical sent out a plumber name Taka. He recommended I change the entire water filter system and tied a plastic bag onto an area
which he suspected where the leak was. The whole interaction with Taka felt sketchy for he made absolutely no eye contact while carrying out our conversation.

My leak job quoted $2000 plus to repair. I had another plumber name Dan from (Dan Does Plumbing) to take a look and he contradicted everything Taka had recommended and finish the job for $200. Be-careful with working
with Alakai Plumbers it could cost you an arm and a leg. Always get a second opinion.

Called on a Monday to setup an appointment for Tuesday.  Got home early to be ready for the call.  Appointment time came and went.  Called the company back after 15 mins past the appointment time.  Person on the phone said they would call me right back to see if a foreman could come.  45 minutes later, that person finally called back and said that they wouldn't be able to do the job but asked if I could reschedule for the next day.  What a waste of time!  Went with another company to fix my plumbing problem.

I'm just speaking for my own experience with this guy name Travis from Alaka'i.

My building management magically claims my toilet bowl wax which was unnoticeably worn caused a leak that  hit the 3rd unit below me Without damaging the unit right under me. The maintenance crew describe the damage unit's ceiling was super drench. They did their own test ran my water for an hour. They had a guy down the damage unit to watch if it's getting worse. After the test they concluded it wasn't our unit. Then they magically had a revelation change their mind and accuse my unit again so they sent in Travis from Alakai

Travis was sent and came in my door totally uninformed and un prepared to which and what to do. Asking me directly where's the leak ??. I said the maintenance guys just check the bathroom so he did went there. Heck he didn't even check or bothered checking/ lifting up the toilet bowl that condo management was forcing was the source. He just Started banging the shower heads and faucet like one caveman . At this point he didn't tell or ask permission that he was gonna damage the property or even have the decency to say imma have to take this off. I called in condo management basically telling them you didn't inform this guy of anything and you guys didn't inform the owner you guys are gonna damage the unit. Management team called him to stop it. During this time a maintenance guy was with him in the bathroom and you can hear Travis talking shit about the unit this guy literally left all the mess he made on the tub and the broken faucet on the bathroom floor and talked to me and said oh your faucet thing is old and rusted so when water comes out it gets block so the water with the mind it's own travels and crawls on the outside of the pipe through the buildings main drain pipe takes the elevator 3 floors down and belly flops on the damage units ceiling. Crazy he got all that from the slightly rusted bathtub faucet. It's funny if that's the case 99% of the building units are under suspicion for that shit our building is so old we still have asbestos popcorn ceilings.  I just said ok if you don't mind give me ur number so you can relay the information directly at this point I told him how unreliable communication with my building management is so his direct contact would just make things easier with what to fix and to solve the problem. He left and came back again saying my other bathroom is more worst saying there's a worst leak there because his moist tester is telling him it's moist behind the wall

This guy jumps the gun right there telling the building management it's my apartment.

1 he hasn't have access to all the units bellow me and intop of the damage unit. So he hasn't checked it all .
2 this guy didn't even see what's the situation inside the wall or the pipes at all.
3. It's my word against his but we haven't showered that day. the leak was reported mid morning to early lunch. I shower early night time and my grandma aswell.

So basically after this we hired a plumber to have an assessment and double check on things. we also opened up the wall so they can see the pipes and floor of the 2 bathroom thoroughly. We did also water checks  and it was concluded no leak floor was dry even the assistant manager of the building was there to witness and check it and he also recorded it. We actually tried calling this guy idk if he gave one fake number or he didn't bother to answer or call back after getting informed that he should expect a phone call to talk about what he found . There's no answer or call back.  Nice.

Following day we still get disturbed again as the potential source. In this case it's probably my building is to blame but dude Travis claimed we were the source from little or no concrete evidence at all. We aren't well off enough to throw money away to fix or repair something that isn't our fault. I don't know the standard of this company but judging from their reviews there's some good ones and bad ones which probably depends on which plumber you get but man don't easily trust all the things they say.

In my case it's so sketchy and unprofessional especially the talking shit when you know ur in a bathroom where sounds bounce back louder than you think.

Horrible experience with this company. Make sure to have someone there watching the start and end times of the workers as they pad the hours BIG TIME. One job that literally took 20 minutes showed up on an invoice as being billed for 1.5 hours. Keep a close eye on the arrival/departures or you'll soon see an invoice with a lot of workers having billable hours of 8 hours a day, which you won't see on the iPad they give you to sign. Make sure you know what you're signing on the iPad too as nothing is filled out. They technician can verbally tell you anything they want while obtaining your signature, but what you receive in the mail doesn't match what was actually done at the time of service.
The caliber of plumbers we had were varying in degree of expertise and if the issues we were facing weren't so dire, you'd almost have to chuckle & think many of the scenes between them came out of a comedy movie because no one was on the same page, as they bickered back and forth how the job should be done. Metal pieces of pipe were left behind where it was accessible on the floor where an infant was crawling, toilets were taken off and left exposed overnight without being covered, holes were dug unnecessarily, and many other disturbances.
The real nightmare began when we purchased a brand new hot water heater, that's obviously leaking by the water marks down the front and the RUST ALL ALONG THE BOTTOM RIM OF THE TANK (which our solar tech pointed out - thank you, thank you, thank you). Attempts to try to get it replaced have REPEATEDLY gone on deaf ears. So even if you purchase brand NEW equipment, which comes with a manufacturer's warranty, they do not want to be bothered; they only want your money from the initial sale. Avoid this company at all costs. You'll only get superior service if you're a multi-million dollar condo building or hotel that gives them hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

Terrible ! Scheduled for estimate to fix my leaky faucets in kitchen & bathroom between 8am & 10am. No show so I called & he said he would call me back. No updates after 15 minutes. So I called again. Different lady answered & I was told she needed to call me back. After 10 more minutes, a guy called me, finally, to inform me that they wouldn't  be able to come! What is the schedule for??? I took a half day off from my work just for this??? Will never go back.

I want to give my praises to Alaka'i plumber Joe.  A pipe broke when my washing machine was being installed, necessitating that the water for the entire house be shut off.  The installation company called Alaka'i and Joe responded within an hour, coming off from another job.  He managed to fix the problem and my plumbing is as good as new.  Joe was very pleasant, answering all of our questions, he was very personable and friendly in explaining what he was doing.  
In talking to Joe, it seems the company is geared towards companies rather than individuals.  Their hourly rate is quite high, so unless you had a large system (like an large AC central system), you would find them expensive.
