HISTORY

Established in 1958.
We have a little bit of history documented here. If you have ever visited our store before, you would know that there is a fair amount of history displayed. My father has always maintained an antique mystique about the store. I have worked with my father off and on for the past 38 years. It started out on Sundays from 9 to 1. I have been back with him fulltime for the past 25 years, and I would not change a thing. I have had so many wonderful changes in my life, but there has always been one constant, our hardware store and my Dad. My father was right when he said that there is no greater joy than being able to help a customer accomplish something that they never would have been able to do without you. I had always wanted to be a teacher! We appreciate our customers and fellow businesses that continue to support us. Please feel free to email me any pictures or questions you have. We will be happy to help!

Lisa gets the PPA award for sure! The Pleasing Personality Award!
This is the best plumbing parts house I have ever been in. Lisa is so knowledgeable you can get educated in moments. I was sent there by a guy from one of the big box stores... she set me straight with the right parts for my old shower valve and brushed my hosing cover to boot for free! I read the review where someone stood there for ten minutes and complained... you can't please everyone but if you need to wait cause there are people in front of you at this store just smile cause you are in the right place for great advice a fair price and for me the service was awesome and it came with a smile too!

Terrible customer service

I stood at the counter for 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledge me. Then when I said is somebody going to help me , they all states  we are helping other customers ; however, I didn't see nobody other than another person in there .

Then an older white man came over and helped me . He throw the items on the counter at me.

I said why are you throwing the items at me twice
I said poor customer service . He said you can leave. I said I am. I'm not giving you any of my money by throwing the items in the counter

And I will be filing something with the attorney general office

I left no business will get any of my money my throwing the item at me on the counter !!

It's amazing you responded to the review in record time but not when I was in the store !!!!

I came home from a weekend getaway and threw some clothes in the washer.  Later I went to load everything into the dryer and stepped into a puddle. I tracked it down to corroded drain pipe under the laundry tub.

I took the parts to the expert, patient and very kind folks at Palmer's.  For $16.05, I was given all the replacement parts assembled along with tips on how to install them once I got home.  I'm no spring chicken, but I always feel confident I am able complete simple plumbing and electrical projects.  Please see pics to see what I was dealing with and the final results.  I highly recommend visiting the amazing Palmer's Hardware team for any home improvement/DIY jobs.

You just cannot say enough about Palmer's. They have so much knowledge, parts and supplies! If you have a plumbing issue, they will get you the parts you need, loan you the tools, and walk you through the
procedure. We're fortunate to have this resource in our neighborhood!

When I was in medical school, our professors and preceptors always emphasized the importance of developing our clinical eye, the ability to recognize and analyze a case right from the get-go.

The clinical eye that the proprietors of Palmer's Hardware have for plumbing issues is bar none. I brought in a photo of a shower/tub issue I had and the kind woman up front had the right diagnosis and treatment plan instantaneously.

The level of customer service and helpfulness at Palmer's Hardware is a breath of fresh air. I'll be telling all my other clueless millennial friends to stop by when those plumbing dilemmas hit.

Wow. Incredible service provided to me when trying to figure out a complicated plumbing job. They have everything and they know what they're talking about.

They even have a text number you can ask questions on when out in the field.

By far the best plumbing supply I've been to.

I had gone to Lowe's,was referred to hydrologic & they told me about Palmer's! ( Ty to hydrologic for being honest & for referring me to another business)I text them a picture of the stem  & they were able to tell me it was Moen(there were absolutely no markings on plate or guts) and to come on in. The customer service was beyond amazing & I wanna scream it from the rooftops lol.. she walked me through step by step, demonstrating with tools I had no idea I needed. Yes, I YouTube'd prior...but her tutorial, time & patience with me was beyond my expectations.. This place is like a step back into time.... The kind of hardware store  your parents/grandparents grew up with. So grateful to experience it for myself. Your expertise & assistance saved me hundreds of dollars by doing it myself.. I cannot thank you or praise you enough. Extra excited that I did it by myself with the help of another lady... Wooo hooo... Girl power
I never write reviews, but people need to know if they don't know (like me,)

They are an old fashioned hardware store that helps solve your problems.  Bring the broken item in, and they tell you what you need to fix it.

Went there today first time. Not only did I appreciate the older Gentleman (Dad) the woman called him behind the counter, but the service was exceptional! The nastalgia of this store really took me back down memory lane, before Lowe's and Home Depot! If it's on the planet, they have it in this gem of a store. I live in N. Clearwater, if this place was closer, they'd get all my business for hardware / plumbing needs!

Awesome folks and excellent service.  We had a shut off valve that was from the 1970 with stem, seat  and packing nut broke.  Palmers hardware rebuilt the part and our shut off valve to condo is back in business.  Friendly staff and so very knowledgeably in all things plumbing related. Would give them a 10 if we could.

There should be more places like this one.  You always leave with more than what you bought, all purchases come with the following: customer service, advice, help, and a good feeling that you are on the right track.  The focus at Palmer's Hardware is to provide solutions with the correct tools, minimum effort, and in as few trips to the store as possible definitely a place for solutions.

This place is not your typical or even like a big box store.  There is no appealing visual aesthetics that the modern shopper expects; from the moment you enter the store you will notice parts lining the store much as you would expect in a workshop.  There is a counter a couple of feet from the entrance on the left where you will frequently find an employee assisting a customer.  As employees come and go from the counter it is obvious that there is more workspace in the back and their coming and going is not to find things they are participating in and working with parts or prepping parts for customers.    The customer service does not seem to end with advice as they are very hands-on in dealing with the customer's issues.

My experience started with replacing my shower and tub stems for the faucets which after searching I found Palmer's was the place to find the hard to find.  That project went together with very little difficulty.  This week I noticed that my shower had started a leak so after taking the stems out and examining it, I noted the hot water side had a mangled rubber gasket/washer.  So took the whole unit (stem and all) into explain what was going on.  When I arrived, I showed them the unit and explained the drip.  They examined the unit and explained that the seat that received the rubber piece when the water shuts off had chewed into it.  They recommended I replace the seat as well as the rubber piece to ensure a good fit.  With basic plumbing tips and providing a bit of pipe compound they got me what I needed with a minimal amount of expense.  They even asked to ensure that I had the tool to remove the seat once I got back home.  They also took a moment to inspect the stem for damage. They determined  that I did not need to replace the stem which is the most expensive part of the unit I brought in.  I consider it a hallmark of customer service when you are not arbitrarily upsold and get the message that they care more about your satisfaction than taking your money.  They got an A+ on both counts in this regard.  My cost of my repair was very nominal less than $10.

This is one of those places that you wish you could give more than 5 stars.  Customer Service is awesome and I believe they always shoot straight even to the point of recommending professional help if you are in over your head.  The people here really leave a good impression and strive to give their customers what they need in the nicest way possible.

Friendly, smart, family place. These people are why reviews matter! You can keep Lowes, Home DePot, etc... I get personal & great attention and never get sold more than I need.  Knowledgable staff. Helped me many times over 30 years, to fix things myself! I love that & it saves me money.
Thank You Palmers for being a place I depend on!

This place is incredible. Old timey service and lots of this and thats.

I need two old looking screws to hand a heavily patinaed item. They dug around a cool old bun and found them for me for a paltry 46 cents!

This is what a shopkeeper looks like! Not many left.

The owner is just about the most friendly and helpful person you will ever meet.  I brought in a broken spigot and asked for a replacement and how to fix it at Home Depot but they were unhelpful... I brought it to Palmer's Hardware and he showed me what I needed and what tools to use to get the job done.  What I thought was going to be a nightmare of a project and cost hundreds on a plumber only turned out to take 10 minutes and maybe $20 bucks in parts.

If you have any plumbing projects you want to take on yourself and need the parts or advice, this is the place to go.

What a great hardware store! I had a very particular and hard to find pocket door roller that you can not find in your chain type hardware store. My landlord recommended Palmer's to me and said that if they didn't carry it, I probably wouldn't be able to find it. I went there and with a little digging around by one of their staff, VOILA! They had the part I had been searching so hard for! And to make it even better, the people there are super friendly and seemed very willing to help! I will definitely be using Palmer's again and again. Thanks!

We went in because this store was right around the corner from our new home and we needed some wall hangers super fast. We were absolutely blown away by how knowledgeable and friendly the ladies were. They didn't try to sell us things we didn't need and their tips were spot on. Our second trip in a couple months later was even better. We took in a skim board that had hung on a bathroom wall with Command Adhesive and needed to be mounted for security, the lady working sold us the screws we needed and put them through the board and helped cut them down to the right size. That's service! In my experience, their prices are competitive compared to other places, but even for a few bucks more they would still have my business for their amazing free advice and service.

Forget the box stores! This is a true, small-town feel hardware store. The personnel really know their stuff, and are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. From the moment you enter the store, you are nearly over whelmed by the stocked shelves and helpful employees. As a DIY weekend warrior, working on repairing a 1940's house's plumbing problem, this was the only place that not only helped me, but eased my stress to boot! Check it out!

This is the best hardware store ever! I went in to get longer screws to affix a pot handle. It turned out being a little more complicated and the owner ended up repairing the pot for me on the spot. While I was there, about 10 customers came in. None of them left without help. Customers needed auto repair items, pipe fittings, electrical pieces, something for a guitar! If the item needed wasn't at Palmer's, then the owners instantly knew it, and told customers where to go for help (including establishment name and address). The guitar player left happy and vowed to send his colleagues.

Crazy thinking on my part, but, I'm looking forward to needing to fix something else so I can go back.

Went there when I tried to mess with my leaky faucet. Was hoping to replace the washer on it, but it was very tight, so I wasn't succeeding on my own. I took pics and went to the shop. When I walked in, I was warmly greeted and Emily listened to my concerns and looked at the pictures. She then lent me a tool to take home and to give it another go. It wasn't working still. I came back to the store. Again, one of the ladies there talked to me and gave me advice to take a bigger part out, so they can help me in the shop when I bring it in. I was also given a card with the number to call and text messages/pictures if I had questions. I did call and was advised. At the end of the day, I wasn't able to fix my faucet. I learned a lot about faucets, though. Seeing professionals struggle with it the next day, using their plumbing tools, I'm okay with not succeeding.
The best part of what I experienced is that I was never talked down to or made feel stupid. As a girl, I hate going to stores like that, because I'm often made to feel dumb for not knowing what parts are called or what has to be done. Most definitely recommend this store!

From the professional who knows what they want to the first time 'DIY' person, Palmer's is definitely the place to go! They have personnel who know the business and give you their knowledge freely. If you want to repair something, they know what is best for you (and not always the most expensive) which is a big plus. There are work bench's to test something out, if you're not sure which is the best item to go with. This is a hardware store, not a fancy place, just great stuff. A handy man's candy store!

Palmer's is the best.  They have saved me hundreds of dollars over the years.  I take in my broken plumbing parts and explain the problem. They tell me how to fix it and sell me the parts which are never that expensive.  Then, I go home fix the plumbing.  I don't even go to the big box stores anymore for plumbing problems.  Palmers is the best.  I don't know anywhere else that gives this kind of service.

UPDATE: I went back in for help with another project and was so glad I did. The woman was able to guide me through two projects and didn't even try to sell me anything. Once again, so helpful and knowledgeable.

....
I initially went to the big box store looking for a very specific sized adapter for my dishwasher. After searching all the aisles, I found an employee but he just kept running in the opposite direction. Zero customer service. When I finally got someone, I was bounced around from person to person and they ultimately referred me to Palmer's.

When I arrived here, the parking situation was confusing. I recommend going around to the back. Inside, there was already a line of people with questions but the owner took time to answer everyone. Such a great guy. Super, super knowledgeable and made me smile the whole time. The shop is tiny and every inch is filled but he knows exactly where everything is and just what tools can be used to makeshift fix everything. Plus, I spent so much less than I would have at the big store. SO glad I was told to come here!

I needed to replace a part on the kitchen faucet but don't know anything about how to do this. I went to Lowe's where they informed me what was needed for my Delta faucet but they didn't have it in stock. Went to Home Depot and they knew even less than I did about it. Went to Ferguson's Plumbing where the gentleman there brought out a $50 part for my Delta faucet but neither of us really thought it was the correct part. The great thing this gentleman did was suggest visiting Palmer's Hardware. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a very nice lady that took about a millisecond to ask what I needed for my Moen faucet! (not a Delta) She listened and found the $9 part that was needed and gave me instructions on how to change it out. She also gave me a card and asked me to call or text if I got into trouble with my install. Well of course I got stuck but she wasn't kidding...through calls, texts, and sending photos to Palmer's Hardware with them even offering to loan me tools we were able to get the problem solved. I swear, you must go to Palmer's Hardware for whatever you need whenever you need it! Palmer's is like the legendary concierge at an ultra deluxe hotel, no guff, just outstanding customer service.

amazing service and price. went in with a piece from a leaky faucet asking for advice (i have never done any kind of plumbing). lady there spent 20 minutes with me giving me a lesson on what to do, cleaned and greased the parts i came in with for me. gave me a smear of grease in a zip lock bag so i could grease other parts at home. charged me less than $4! tried to tip her for the 20 minute lesson but she wouldn't take it.

highly recommended.
