Bixno Handy

I had them install five cabinets (20 by 93 inches tall) and one small bathroom cabinet, and charged me for 10 hrs, total came to over $1100, more than double the IKEA installer's charge. Also, they messed up the set up, one is upside down, the nailing part was installed at the bottom instead on the top, etc.  I would never call them again.  Next time make sure to hire installer by a set up price, not by hours.

After deciding to mount my TV after all, I went on Thumbtack to find someone. I got a quote from that same morning. They broke everything down for me within the first 2 messages. When I changed my mind and decided to have it mounted over the fireplace, they just asked for some photos so they could give me a timeline. I sent them photos and within minutes I had a call talking about the process, setting up an appointment, etc. They even helped me with choosing a wall mount for the TV. They showed up on time. They were very courteous and incredibly friendly. They walked me through everything and made sure I was okay with how my TV was mounted throughout the process. They mounted my TV faster than expected. They were cleaning the whole entire process. I was quite impressed on their methods to clean while working vs making a mess and hoping they get it all later.

I am very pleased with their work and will definitely hire them again. I will also recommend them as much as possible. I just moved into town so it's nice to find service I can trust.

Hired Nolan to mount a TV in a tile wall and scheduled out about 10 days.  When I called again a couple days later (on a Saturday) to add another element to the job he told me he was in the neighborhood and could take care of it that day if I wanted.  Heck yes!!  Knowledgeable, capable, well equipped and and a hell of a nice guy.  Got both my jobs done by himself in 3 hours flat.  Would hire again.

Let me start by saying that I have been trying for over 2 years to find someone in Hawaii to help me do some handyman type work around the house (install bathroom fixture, hang a heavy painting through a concrete wall, hang a heavy mirror, etc.) and within 30 minutes of my inquiry, Nolan had a quote and confirmed dates and times he could meet. I was a little in shock! I had so many others send me vague quotes or book something but never show. Not Nolan. He let me know (yesterday!) that he had an availability open up at 7:30 am the next day (today!) and I booked it.  I am a student and work full-time so being able to meet on a Saturday morning was appreciated. Not only was Nolan on time, but his work is impeccable. He truly cares about doing a good job and I am super happy with the results!

We found Nolan on Yelp, read his reviews and decided to hire him. I prefer a friend referral, but I do trust Yelpers! I hired him to install a new convection microwave. Huge and heavy. We had Bixno take care of some recent projects on our home before putting it on the market. We were impressed with Nolan's communication and transparency throughout the process. Nolan and Tim arrived on time and began work right away. They were respectful in our home and went out of their way to communicate and discuss potential solutions before they began work on each project. They wrapped up faster than we anticipated and we are extremely pleased with the results. Would absolutely hire them in the future.

I reached out to Bixno Handy in a last minute panic because the handyman I had originally booked turned out to be a no show.

Within an hour they arrived and mounted my XL tv and a number of large pictures. They were fast and extremely professional, everything was measured and leveled.

My assistant manager called Bixno Handy for help to hang a heavy mirror at our office on Tuesday...they arrived the next morning, on time as they had said. Nolan and his assistant Jarom did an excellent job hanging the mirror - using the appropriate hardware, measuring precisely, and making sure it was level. It looks excellent, and feels very secure. Super nice guys, and no surprises on the cost. I highly recommend them, and will be using them again soon for another small project at our business.

I found this business because my neighbor had Nolan out to give an estimate to repair the fence. I had Nolan's card and contacted him on a Saturday when my husband desperately needed a Depict Frame hung on the wall for a product review youtube.com/watch?v=VkEU… Nolan offered to come out on a Sunday for an additional cost and minimum 2 hours. I asked if he would be willing to do other work for the 2 hours and he said he would be. We agreed to the price and he gave an estimated time to arrive the following day (Sunday). Nolan communicated clearly via text on his expected arrival. He seemed to be training a new person which made some of the process seem to take a little more time but when we got to the end he actually charged us slightly less than he said he would for the Sunday visit. We both found Nolan to be professional. We had 2 new TVs mounted. He explained why the mounts we purchased were not the best and since our were returnable we purchased what he sold and felt his price was fair. He also hung the Depict frame my husband needed to review. One of the TVs he installed had an issue and he offered to take it down but my husband said he would look at it and get it working. Once we got the TV on we could see there was some damage done on the installation but we were headed out for vacation. Nolan sent a follow up text to see how everything was and I told him about the situation but that we were traveling internationally so there was a bit of a delay before we were able to communicate. My husband worked with Nolan on the issue and told me that everything was taken care of, we were both satisfied with the resolution and to leave him a 5 star review. No problem!

Nolan was hired to hang a heavy mirror for me on a wall that was covered in wallpaper.  It's not a difficult task, but one which I didn't want to mess up considering you can't really repair wallpaper, and it was a nearly 100lb mirror.  

The first mistake he made was measuring and nearly drilling the holes in the wrong place.  He didn't account for the fact that the hook on the back of the mirror was seven inches below the top of the frame, and he measured on the wall for the top of the frame.  I am not sure how or why an experienced handyman would make this mistake, but fortunately I caught him before he drilled.  

When he set up his ladder to drill on the wall, he put it right up against a hand made piece of furniture that would easily scratch with a metal ladder rubbing up against it.  I asked him politely to back it up a little bit so it wasn't rubbing, and he seemed surprised by this request (this was after I asked him if we should move the furniture out of the way and he said it wasn't necessary).

Then, after mounting the bracket on the wall, he went to hang the mirror and realized the piece was in the way.  He rested the mirror up against the wall, and asked me to help him move the furniture so he could more easily hang it.  When we went to move it, he knocked the mirror over and it fell on his drill glass first.  Instead of apologizing, he told me that my girlfriend should help me move the piece instead since, in his words he's not a designer and not used to having to work around nice things.  Someone who works in people's homes for a living not used to working around nice things?

So, after the mirror fell, I inspected it somewhat quickly (my mistake) and then he hung it, I paid him and he went on his way (I had to clean up after him as well - he did not clean the drywall dust from drilling himself).  After he left, I noticed a three inch scratch on the mirror (which had just arrived from Restoration hardware ($800 mirror) the night before and I hadn't touched it myself).  The scratch was clearly from where it had landed on his drill, unfortunately it was one of those once you see it, it cannot be unseen things, where it was very obvious from a certain angle once on the wall.

Nolan absolved himself of all responsibility for this since I had already paid him and he had left before I noticed the scratch.  All I asked for was my money back ($100 I paid him) and to cover the shipping costs of the mirror, which he refused.  

tldr; Nolan made one major mistake which damaged my property, and nearly made two others which would have damaged other things.  He was not apologetic at all and was mostly annoyed that he had to deal with 'nice things'.  He did not take responsibility for his mistakes.

Nolan really went above and beyond in mounting my murphy bed to the wall. I really appreciated how thoughtful he and Tim were about the whole process - not just interested in getting it done, but in doing it as well as possible!

I found Nolan via Thumbtack, where I posted a job to hang a heavy mirror and he responded within 30 minutes. He & his assistant came out the next morning (the best kind of early, where they tell you they're on their way), and got the job done, choosing the right kind of drywall anchors and making sure it was level.

While he was out, I showed him our back fence gate, which had recently started sagging so much it was effectively broken. Nolan took a look, came back the next day to take measurements, and quickly sent me a very reasonable quote. He got the job done (while it was intermittently hailing!) the day after, and the rebuilt gate works like a dream.

They were coming to help me with the tv mount and to be honest, they were really helpful about giving me the information about the mount and what it can do and how high and low it can go. The other thing that made me like them is that they were fast and they did my service in the same day. I also asked them if they could do my headboard for my bed, and they were more than happy to do it and they did it fast and it was accurately placed were i expected to be. Thanks guys

Nolan and Tim did a GREAT job mounting my 70 TV on a tiled surface and on top of my fireplace. They were diligent, timely and professional.

The short version: They're not licensed electricians, which doesn't necessarily matter if you know what you're doing. These guys don't know what they're doing. They did my job wrong, wouldn't make it right, and the owner was borderline abusive when I complained. This might be culturally appropriate in Texas, but it really doesn't fly here. Avoid.

The long version: I engaged Bixno Handy to perform the following tasks:

- Install two ceiling light fixtures
- Install three smoke detectors
- Install a receptacle on the same circuit as a kitchen fixture
- Diagnose a heater that wasn't getting power
- Remove base molding from around crawlspace and install a handle.

They followed up politely and professionally, and promptly dispatched two technicians. The appointment was rescheduled several times during the day because their other job ran long, but I was flexible.

The guys did just fine installing the light fixtures and the smoke detectors. Installing a fixture on the ceiling wasn't workable because there wasn't the right equipment, and this was a reasonable call. I was disappointed, but since there wasn't a way to do it without cutting a hole in the ceiling, I was fine with them not taking on this project.

The work with the base molding was so-so; they removed it, installed a handle, but didn't get the proportions right and didn't reinstall it with screws like I'd asked. It was a last-minute addition to the project (since we had extra time on the clock, and they bill by the full hour) so I don't fault them for my failure to appropriately scope the project.

The primary issue was with diagnosing my heater, the billing, and how the owner responded.

As it turns out, there is a switch on the bottom of the thermostat. It was turned off and this is the only thing that was ever wrong. These guys didn't find that problem, but spent an hour chasing a fault that wasn't really a fault--the electric line was 240v and they assumed it was 120v, which behaves differently.

I ended up having to hire a licensed electrician for about $220 to undo everything they did. He wrote up in detail everything that Bixno Handy did incorrectly, and advised me not to have them do electrical work because they were not licensed and didn't have proper training. When I contacted Nolan Bixler, the owner, to see if he was willing to adjust the bill, he instead called me up to chew me out. He claims I was abusive to his guys (I was polite and professional, but did expect them to work the full two hours I was paying for), and made it clear that not only was he unwilling to adjust the bill, he'd put me on his blacklist. I'm going to have trucks all over this town, he said and we're never going to work with you.

Nolan needn't worry. I'm not inclined to work with him again.

If you need a TV mounted on the wall, these guys are probably capable. However, if you have any more complicated problems, this company is best avoided. More importantly, expect that the mercurial owner will keep your money, won't fix anything, and will blacklist you for complaining.

Nolan was fast to respond to my initial inquiry. He was friendly and professional. I needed to have 2 TV's mounted on the wall. Nolan offered if I wanted to have my home cleaned at the same time. I was thrilled at his offer. He quoted me what the job would cost and I agreed. He and Wella arrived on time and ready to get started the next morning. Everything turned out great! I will definitely use Bixno Hanndy again in the future and have already referred a colleague to use them too. Great work!

Nolan was great. He replied to my request within minutes and was very responsive to all of my texts or email.
Once at my home he got right to work rehanging my shower curtain rod so that it could support up to 80lbs!
He was polite and worked quickly and did a complete job.

Bought a low profile microwave from Home Depot and paid for installation only to be told they couldn't do it because the backboard wasn't drywall or wood. I looked for a solution and Nolan responded promptly and installed it with ease. He was very thorough and professional throughout the whole process.

Bixno Handy installed two pendant lights in my kitchen and did an awesome job. The project was originally a DIY, and when I realized I was in over my head Nolan was able to come out the very next day. Bixno Handy LLC fronted by Nolan and crew was an absolute pleasure to work with. Not only were they extremely personable and friendly but they were professional and exact in their trade. They definitely bring a ton of experience to the trade but they were almost as excited as I was when it was all setup (downstairs over the fireplace). They definitely enjoy what they do.

Nolan came out on a Sunday to fix my garbage disposal. It was a little more complicated than expected given the age of my condo building but he figured everything out. He was great and even eager to explain everything to me. Most importantly, I felt like I could trust him and his expertise. His pricing felt absolutely reasonable. He even gave me a discount for time spent talking, which really shows how honest he is. He's also super nice. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I have finally found my go to handyman.

Needed a move out cleaner and these guys left the place in better condition than when I had moved in! I definitely would recommend calling them for any of your handy man needs!

Nolan arrived right on time was nice and professional. Hired him to install a chandelier but it turns out my house has some funky wiring issues he was honest and suggested I have an electrician out to review it. I mentioned I also have a tv I've been wanting to mount so he was able to turn around and do that instead! Came prepared for any job and came out the same day I contacted him about the job. Highly recommended!

Inquired about having some things de-mounted from the walls and screw holes patched up and painted. Nolan was very prompt to respond with an hourly estimate and availability.

The job required him and his assistant to come for two days. The first day they were able to take down a few things that were mounted to the walls -- wall mounted entertainment piece, window shades, mirrors. They also went around the house to patch and re-patch some holes that were not properly patched up. Day one was surprisingly very fast and both Nolan and his assistant are very efficient and easy to communicate with.

On day two, they had worked on sanding and painting over all the holes. Like the first day, they were very quick and efficient.

If you need any handy work done around your place, I highly recommend contacting Nolan. He's extremely professional, friendly, priced appropriately, and very easy to communicate with. Communication was all done via text which makes it extremely convenient if you're tight on time and busy.

Will definitely use his company again for more projects in the future.

Jarom, Tim and Nolan showed up on time, did a great job, were knowledgeable and creative, finished early and charged me fairly. I'm really not sure what more you could ask from a handyman. They took down a satellite dish, cut and sealed off the wires, changed some exterior lights and sealed all the holes in our house that were open to birds high up.  I've had really bad experiences with contractors and while remodeling our home and this was honestly one of the easiest. We have had people not show up, people not finish the project and everything else you could think of and the interaction with these guys was smooth and easy. We already asked them to come back and pressure wash and stain our deck and fence.

Nolan and Tim was scheduled to mount my TV on Sunday, but was available today. The only problem was I was moving today and my TV was still mounted at my old apartment. Bixno offered to unmount my TV where is was currently and re-mount it in my new apartment.

It took about an hour (I was moving about a block), but they were friendly to me but also to each other. When they re-mounted the TV they double checked the placement several times.

Great quality work. Fair prices. Fun guys.

We hired Nolan and his team to install a hood vent and fan that was (supposedly) the same measurements as the one already installed.  When they began the installation, they found the new model was shaped slightly different than the old one.  Undeterred, they set about to fit the new vent into the tiny space above our range.  The job took longer than anticipated, but they found a way to fit it!  They were prompt, friendly, polite and kept us informed about the job all the way through.  We'll use these guys again the future!  Thanks!
