We were using a small, highly rated family business before, but they couldn't handle a burst water line to our house and recommended we call Gaithersburg Plumbing, which replaced our line with far less damage to our yard and lower cost than any of the other companies we consulted. After a completely botched job in our bathroom from the other company, we started using Gaithersburg Plumbing for all our needs, including quickly coming over to fix a pinhole leak one Saturday night in our basement and most recently replacing the faucets in my mother-in-law's kitchen sink. In our experience, they give you a fair price and do the job right with no fuss.

This company installed my water heater improperly 4 years ago and refused to even bother to call manufacturer on my behalf when entire thing burst and rusted half of my and my neighbours unit!
Heater tray was placed on top of a mail causing it to rust and plumbing was not connected correctly causing it to leave, at the end I am left with $10K bill to fix and Gaithersburg Plumbing stated it was secondary cause. Improper diagnostic.
I had two independent evaluations state it was 100% installers fault. Plan to sue.

Logan just came by and gave and honest assement of the situation and saved me a lot of head ache.

I have hired them before and will again because they do not pull a fast one on anybody.

Wonderful company! Had a stopped up bathroom sink and tub and they were able to fix it no problem! Super professional, courteous, and they wore a face mask the entire time in my house. Will definitely call Gaithersburg Plumbing again!!

After contacting three plumbers to receive estimates, I selected Gaithersburg Plumbing to replace my main water line from the street to my house. My yard was flooded, my water bill was astronomical, and I was stressed about destroying my yard and landscaping. I've never had an emergency home repair go so well. Gary and Zach were masterful, not only in their repair of the line, but also in their management of a very anxious homeowner. They dug only what was needed to do the job (by hand so they wouldn't destroy my lawn with heavy machinery), replaced the old copper line with PE Poly so we won't have a problem again, and cleaned up the job beautifully. In fact, you wouldn't even know they were there. Amazing service and worth every penny. BTW, Gaithersburg Plumbing was also the lowest bidder by 15-20 percent.

Had a toilet that the wood floor around it was showing discoloration around the floor area so had it repaired by Gaithersburg Plumbing for $480 only to have the issue worsen and continue to leak overtime and ruin the floor around it. Since I called well after the 30 day warranty there was literally nothing they were willing to do for me and I was told I'd have to pay for a tech to come out ($50) and for whatever the repair would be. This is an issue that I would not know was still a problem within 30 days. The technician who came out seemed rushed, not thorough and did not explain anything to me. As a single women who knows nothing about this kind of thing I just feel taken advantage of and that the follow up problem was not handled well. Do not recommend.

Our pipes just started hammering - nothing had changed, just suddenly started hammering. I called WSSC, and the guy said that he thought our PRV (Pressure Reducing Valve) might have gone bad. I called Gaithersburg Plumbing. They came out a few days later. The technician was professional and friendly. He tested the system and confirmed that the PRV had gone bad. He replaced it in less than 30 minutes. The system is working great now! I'm very happy to recommend Gaithersburg Plumbing - great experience.

will highly recommend stay away from Gaithersburg plumbing, inc.

The problem: tub overflow o-ring has a leak.

Company solution: open up your perfectly working toilet 5 feet away for $305.

Their diagnosis was completely wrong and money driven
They charge $305 for looking at toilet with no evidence of leaking. and . btw they charge $50 just to show up at your door, regardless if they finds source of your problem or not

The techs were on time,  if not early, for both appointments. Logan was very helpful and knowledgeable in his craft. Max was also helpful during the installation. I give it 3 stars simply because of the condition the new water heater came in, along with some personal nicks I seen in the finished product.

I have used Gaithersburg Plumbing multiple times in the past and have been very satisfied with the work performed and with the cost. Not so this last time. While I highly recommend the quality of the work that was done, the cost was exorbitant. For 2.5 hours of labor (plus parts, which consisted of some PVC and hardware) I was charged $1,200. Assuming the parts cost $200 (which is very generous) that works out to $400/hour. Based on my calls to other plumbers, the hourly labor rate should have been about $200. By the way, I did sign-off on a written estimate before approving the job, however, had I known the work would take only 2.5 hours I never would have moved forward.

Here's the work that was done and what I was charged:

Bathrooms: Rebuild 2 shower faucets with new internal parts. $662

Kitchen: Re-configure PVC below kitchen sink to fit customer-installed disposal, connect PVC to disposal. $300

Basement: Re-configure PVC to fit new customer-purchased sump pump, remove old sump pump, drop new sump pump in well. I had already unsealed the sump pump well, cleared it of water and debris, and removed the old float. $238

The letter I received from the company in response to my complaint was unapologetic, attempting instead to justify the cost.

In the future, I'll go elsewhere for plumbing services, and will always get a time estimate as well as a cost estimate in advance of approving the job.

I should have checked their reviews before I called them. I regret it now. I needed to have a hot water heater replaced. They charged me $2500 to replace the hot water heater. The experience is very very bad. The plumber whose name was Rocky was incredibly rude. He destroyed my backyard and made a mess of my carpet. The customer service representative, Christopher was good. I explained all the issues I had with the plumber and the damaged that the plumber caused in my home. Christopher said someone was going to get back to me and I would get reimbursed for the damage but no one ever called. I think the pictures describe how careless the plumber was.  In addition to the damage to the carpet in the backyard he also broke bowl. The plumber refused to explain anything he was doing. I was constantly calling the home office to understand what white choices were and what Rocky was trying to do. He seem hell-bent on doing the minimum and getting out. He didn't want to provide a supportive device for the pressurizer, he wouldn't tell me how to set the hot water temperature, I told him to bring the hot water heater in through the back yard.  He wouldn't listen to any of it. He just kept saying he had been doing this for 20 years.  He left a wire dangling where is previously it was attached to a stud. Also be attached a pipe to the water heater and I have no idea what purpose it serves but it will flood the basement the way he has it set up if it fills. The whole experience miserable.

The plumber came promptly today to fix my gas leak on my water heater.
Nice guy and fixed the issue.
HOWEVER, we are in the middle of a COVID pandemic and he was not wearing any protective equipment. no mask. no gloves. He even refused to wear one I had as I am a healthcare worker and had an extra one for him. I couldn't send him away as I needed a gas leak fixed asap.
I contacted the company that said this was his choice not to wear one. Completely unacceptable and irresponsible. Employees should be required to wear proper PPE before going into people's homes, and if they can not comply, they should be excused from working for the company during this pandemic. Masks are already mandated by the governor and Montgomery County for many public places. How this is not an obvious necessity for a company which sends technicians into people's homes is unfathomable to me.

I had a leaky drain in the master shower. My home warranty sent out Gaithersburg Plumbing. Plumber said he needed parts and would call to make a follow up appointment to replace the pipe because he needed parts and an extra person to assist.
My warranty company called a few days later to say I needed a new shower drain pan because the old one was installed incorrectly and they weren't covering it. I said They must have my paperwork mixed up because someone else because my paperwork doesn't say anything about the drain pan and the plumber didn't mention it.   Gaithersburg Plumbing sent out another plumber and he told me the pipe would be difficult to replace because the space underneath is narrow. Nothing mentioned about a drain pan. He said they'd send out a master plumber. Master plumber said we can rip this shower out and do a nice tile. I said I'm not looking to remodel!! All I want is the leaking drain pipe replaced.  He said yeah, that's not possible.  This is all one unit. I said The pipe isn't part of the fiberglass shower. He said Yesh, it's all connected. I said how much for the cheapest repair. He said it will be a couple thousand dollars but the warranty people should cover it . I said they're not covering anything and I don't have that kind of money .  He said they would be in touch with an estimate.  Never heard back.

I called a neighborhood repair guy. $190 dollars and one year warranty to replace the pipe.

These people are scammers. I've alerted the warranty company.

If I could give 0 stars, I would.

We had an issue with the toilet in our basement backing into our shower and my husband called Gaithersburg Plumbing to come and check out the problem. After diagnosing the problem, they informed him that the line was backed up and it would need to be cleared, likely through the cleanout in the front yard.

They came back with a price of $1000. Mind you, this is nearly 3xs what it should actually cost to perform this service through the front yard. My husband told them this price was absurd and explained how the process actually works. Little did they know, my husband has a long career in building products and worked for a period of time as a service manager for a large plumbing contractor in the area. When he explained how they were gouging for the service, the manager (on the phone) went silent and said that was the best he could do.

We promptly paid their exorbitant service fee and asked them to leave. We have since found another company that is literally charging a THIRD of their quoted price for the same service.

Shop around and find someone else as it's clear they do not value customers and will attempt to price gouge when they assume you're ignorant to the process and plumbing.

The process from the start seems to be broken as they charge a fee to come out to see the problem. When my tec arrived he was not able to give me any pricing or details and said that he had to call his boss to get pricing. They are able to charge more as once they come out you are already out $50 due to visit. I was disappointed with my experience.

I used Gaithersburg Plumbing because they're contracted through my home warranty. We were having a leak under our kitchen sink, so they sent someone by to repair it. Within two days, the leak had returned, requiring a second visit. The second plumber came, realized the problem, and fixed it promptly. They also replaced a toilet for us a few months ago with no difficulty.

I'm not upset about the botched first visit, these things happen. Here's what bothered me:

When the second plumber came over, he noticed some water-related damage to the floor in our kitchen. When he called in to his office to check with his manager for advice, I was able to hear a massive tirade of shouted profanity coming out of the phone. I'm sure his supervisor was trying to avoid any liability, but the amount of abuse he was heaping on his employee was intolerable. I wouldn't work for an employer who treated me that way, and I won't do business with a company that treats their hires that way. If I need more plumbing work done under my home warranty, I'll insist on another plumber.

Horrible experience, Problem unresolved. Very aggressive to charge and collect money but not in finding the source of my problem. Lance talks a good game but did nothing to participate in the service of actual plumbing. Disappointed. They did nothing and could not even tell me what was wrong. A real plumber came from another company and solved the problem instantly.
They never even offered to give me back my money.

Do not use this plumbing service. They are nothing but crooks who didn't even take a minute to assess my leaking tub valve. They ended up coming out 2 different times. The first time they came out, they said they couldn't do anything until the water was shut off to my entire condo building (which was not necessary when I finally got a competent plumber out here). Chester came out a second time and immediately said that he'd have to tear down the wall behind my tub valves and replace all of the piping- but then said he'd have to come out yet again because our piping was galvanized and not copper.
Anyway, long story short, I got Allstar Plumbing out to my place and they were able to fix the problem within 30 minutes.
Do not waste any time or energy with Gaithersburg Plumbing! They were an utter nightmare!

Yeah, by local hardware store he means Home Depot.  His own technician recommended I buy the parts at Home Depot or Lowe's since my wife and I were not interested in the parts he had to sell.  Stupidly, I would have paid a little more to have these guys come back and complete the job.  But not after the phone conversation I had with the manager.  I don't know if the manager I spoke with was the owner or just someone who works at this establishment, but I'm sorry, in what world is it OK for a businessperson to scream and yell at a customer?

Judge for yourself.  Read the other reviews of this company.  There is one fantastic review.  Probably written by someone who works for this company.  All the other reviews are bad.

Gaithersburg Plumbing was chosen for us by our home warranty company after a previous plumber failed to come out and handle our issue. Our guest bath/shower was extremely slow to drain. One of the things I loved about Gaithersburg Plumbing was the communication about the appointment. When they couldn't get a hold of my husband on the primary number, they immediately tried mine rather than waiting for him to return the call. They called to set up the appointment window, called to confirm the day before, and called 30 minutes prior to the technician's arrival. The technician was pleasant, knowledgeable, and worked quickly to resolve the issue. Very professional and pleasant experience all the way around.

I had a 4 p.m. appointment. When I called around 4:10 to ask if the technician was on his/her way, the man who answered the phone simply said Yes. He should be there around 4:30. No apology for running late. He then said he sent a text to me but didn't get a response. I never received a text and I found it odd that he wouldn't call a customer instead of texting to let them know the technician is running a half hour late. He explained that any notification of the technician running late is a courtesy and he didn't have to do it. Wow. I tried to give a small business a try and I was reminded why it's sometimes better to choose the larger, more established and professionally run companies such as James A. Wheat and Michael & Son's Services.

I have uses Gaithersburg Plumbing in the past. The service they  provided was decent and at a fair price. However this time when I needed  my hot water heater serviced, I felt like they wanted to rob me. After a brief diagnoses, they advised the thermocoupler was bad and needed to be replaced. The Tech Edger quoted $969 to  repair the unit. I asked why so expensive. He said the individual component was not available any longer and he would have to  order the entire  assembly.  He also provided a quote of $1801 for a new water heater and said he could start the work immediately.  I though the price was extremely high. especially with the limited trouble shooting Edger had done. So I declined the repair and paid the $49.00 service charge.

Luckily I had made arrangements for another company to provide an estimate. They came out that evening and repaired the unit. Total cost including parts $138.00.

Gaithersburg plumbing should have been able to repair  the unit at a reasonable cost, just like the other company did.  Instead they quote me a extremely outrageous repair charge of $969 with the intention of selling me a new unit.  I strongly recommend not using Gaithersburg plumbing for any hot water heater repairs.

Do not use this company.  BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.  They were recommended through my home warranty to fix a problem with my kitchen faucet.  They were supposed to call within 24 hours to schedule a visit, they called 72 hours later, and lied about calling sooner.  When they came, they looked at my sink and told us that they needed to order a part; which could take up to 7 days to arrive.  I asked them if anything could be done to get the part sooner and they replied they could not guarantee it but it could come sooner than 7 days.

9 days later, they have not called nor provided any update about the part or any estimates on how much longer I would need to wait for repairs.  I have been without a kitchen sink for 2 weeks now.  BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.  I have requested for a different company to come and service us.

Customer service is very bad and technicians are purposely working slow to charge excessive labor charges and have horrible attitudes. I paid over $800 to have less than 2.5 feet or Cooper pipes and a hot water tank gas valve replaced. It took over a week for ordering the part and getting the job(s) finalized. I will not be calling them for anything else!

Absolutely NOT recommended! Very weird experience.
After two of the four toilets in my house were making noises, I requested service from my Home Warranty company.
They sent Gaithersburg Plumbing. After checking both toilets, the service man told me that the water pressure in the house was too high. He asked me whether other toilets are making noises and they were not. Still, he insisted that the water pressure valve is deficient and needed replacement. He called first the home warranty company to see whether this is covered. It was not. And the company representative explained that it is now up to me to repair the water valve and I can choose to do so through Gaithersburg Plumbing or another company of my choice, knowing that I still have to pay the service call of $75 for the diagnostic visit regardless of how I decide to proceed. Which I was aware of.
But then the Gaithersburg Plumbing serviceman started talking about a charge for the visit, regardless of any repair, saying that the visit was not covered by home warranty, and he kept on trying to get the home warranty representative to say that the visit was not covered, while she kept telling him that all what is due now is the $75 visit charge, unless he did some repair, which he did not. After hanging up with the home warranty person, he repeated that he will bill me for the visit, other than the $75, without specifying why and what for. After about half an hour of arguing, I had to ask him to leave my house and that I refuse to pay him anything except the service call visit which is the $75.
It was obvious he was trying to scam me.

Max from Gaithersburg Plumbing came to my home for a service call requested from America Home Shield (home warranty company).  I had a dried yellow stain in my middle floor ceiling that was right under the guest room bathtub.  Max immediately diagnosed the problem as a loose tub faucet and told me breaking into the wall would be completely unnecessary.  Max, who has an excellent bedside manner, then spent a good 10-15 minutes telling me how to caulk the faucet and also taught me a few other things about my plumbing system, including how to clean out the faucet aerators.  I was so impressed I asked max to fix a temperature control issue in the basement bathtub. He gave me a straight forward and fair quote to replace the cartridge ($175) and completed the repair in little time. All in all it was a very good experience and I would call on Max again for my plumbing repair needs.

Fine job on replacement of my home water heater under AHS warranty.   The scheduler was polite and efficient, as were the estimator and installer plumbers.  Everyone showed up when they said they would and finished on time.  I had a set of code upgrades to do and the estimator explained these in detail and worked through the warranty claim without complaint.  The installing plumber did a nice job and it passed the WSSC's inspection - and mine.

Nasty attitudes and horrible services is where to begin.
My mother went through her home insurance company to have some work done on her pipes. The worker who came out was quite unprofessional, he wanted her to accept damaged goods with no explanation. There were two other jobs that needed to be done as well and he told her he couldn't do them. After calling the insurance we found out that was false information. The worker joked that no matter how hard she complained she'd have to accept the damaged water heater regardless, we spoke with the receptionist who told us the same thing.
My mother rescheduled her appointment because she wanted the opportunity to learn the policy from her insurance on damaged new goods. While my mother's appointment was set for two days later, this will be the second time she's taken off work. She sat and waited all day and once the window ended there was no one there, she called and was informed that her appointment had be canceled. Not by her but by someone there who they would say. We figured it was because she didn't want the bented heater and they thought it would be funny to make things difficult for her. She once again recshduled, this time she gets a call on the appointment day saying no one is coming bacause they failed to order her part of one of the other jobs she needed. Yet again another ploy to get under our skin.
After an hour on the phone complaining to our insurance company we were informed that it would be okay to have the heater because there is an inner and outer container on the unit and it comes with a six year warranty. So we had the appointment for yesterday and we got the call that they're not coming yet again because two of their workers called out and everyone else was busy. So now they're coming on Monday the 14th. We have noted on our account that we never want them in our home again after this job!!!
I'd advise you all to save you're the trouble an anguish DONT EVER USE THIS S COMPANY THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE OF A PHONE CALL!!!!! I'd also give them NO stars if I could.

After reading the review below about the yard being dug up and everything, I'm so glad I didn't follow Gaithersburg Plumbing's suggestion to replace my entire well line. It was mostly because I couldn't afford almost $3,000 they wanted to charge. I have a well line the comes in through the basement ceiling and it developed a tiny crack that allowed a deluge of water to break through the ceiling and caused all kinds of damage before we were able to shut it off. A guy came that evening for emergency service and all he did was turn the breakers off that turned off the water and make a lot of phone calls to who I assume was his supervisor. They charged me the $185 after-hours emergency service plus another $100 for this guy to try to figure out what to do for an hour. He said he'd have to come back the next morning because it was now late in the evening and he didn't have the part.

He came back with someone else in the morning and they replaced a one foot section of the well line that had a crack in it. It probably took about fifteen minutes to do this. They said I might want to replace the entire line out to the well because it is very old and could crack somewhere else. They spend the rest of their time at my house measuring for the well line and working up an estimate. When they said it would cost $2,800 to replace the entire line (and this would have involved digging up my brick patio), I said thank you very much, but I can't afford that. They charged me $305 for the service they performed to replace the one foot of well line. If I hadn't been so traumatized by the whole event of seeing a large part of my beautifully finished my basement destroyed, I probably would have objected to paying this amount for what they did.

The worst part is that after about a week, we noticed a small amount of water was dripping from where one of the clamps held the replacement part of the line in. I called Gaithersburg Plumbing and the receptionist argued with me that they had recommended I replace the entire line. It took me awhile to make her understand that it was merely a suggestion and the leak was coming from the part they replaced, not anywhere else in the line. She finally scheduled someone to come out to look at it. He was in a big hurry and repeated the company line. He tightened it quickly and left.

We thought it had stopped leaking but then noticed there is still a small amount of water coming out. I called and left a message (this was after hours) and said I was going to report them to the Better Business Bureau and was going to contact another plumber. They never even bothered to call me to make an effort to make it right. A plumber from another company came to my home today and said the problem is that they did not use a torch wrench while the line was warm to seal it. They also used a slightly larger piece (in width) than the original line. This plumber was from my home warranty company and they would not cover this work so he did not do anything else. He also was not comfortable doing this type of work. I have another plumber coming out tomorrow.

There as a time that I would have given Gaithersburg Plumbing an A+ rating, I had several good experiences with them a few years back, but that time is gone. They get an F. I would never allow anyone from that company into my home again. I will report them to the BBB after I have a report from the plumber that comes to my house tomorrow. As responsible consumers, we should not accept unethical and shoddy work.

It was one week before Christmas when we had an emergency situation with an underground cracked water line that backed up into our basement. When I called to schedule an appointment I was told they were booked for a week out but after explaining my situation they got me on the books same afternoon. The team came out and diagnosed the problem and within 24 hours, 6 of their guys were digging out my front yard and replacing pipes, working hours on end to finish the job before the rain was to start. The entire crew was incredible to work with, keeping us informed the entire way through. They completed the pipe replacement in just 48 hours and after filling the 15 foot hole in the front yard, they have continued to come back in an attempt to flatten the dirt so that grass seed can be placed in the spring, and my yard can once again look the way it did before this mess. I cannot say enough good things about this company and the employees. We will absolutely work with them again and I will be recommending them to friends and family.

My mom was charged $335 by these guys to clear a sewer back up.  Her invoice clearly stated that there is a 30 day guarantee for the performed work.  The problem was not solved, and another sewer backup occurred two weeks later.  When she called to inquire about the possible warranty work, the lady on the phone was ridiculously rude and said that she had to pay to have the plumber visit regardless and that warranty work could only be performed if another sewer backup occurred while the plumber was at the house.  She asked to speak to a manager, the rude lady said she was the manager.

A plumber that does not stand behind their work... stay away...

Horrible service. Poor communication from the company. Would never use them again. The people you speak to can be quite rude and not customer centered.

Last week I discovered a water leaked in the basement. I contacted WSSC who verified the leak came from the water pipe on the property and its was my responsibility to repair/replace. I contacted home insurance and was told they do not cover outside water leaks into the house and suggested getting 4 to 5 quotes from local area plumbers for the repair. Faced with a mini disaster I contacted close to a 7 local plumbers. One after the other provided their estimate and description of what needed to be done. Their descriptions were generally same however the cost range varied from one end of the football field to the other. Like a determined consumer I spent hours researching terms such as trench vs trenchless, copper vs PVC/PEX, etc. and concluded the water pipe replacement was not an overly complex process but depended largely on the plumber's experience, knowledge, and integrity. After numerous follow-up calls and visits by plumbers I've become quite familiar with their sales pitch and what they can do for me. Until I came across Ron Smith of Gaithersburg Plumbing, Inc. Initially, I was skeptical due to my researching for the best plumber... online. However, I listening attentively to what he had to say, and noticed that he was direct, straight to the point, reasonable cost estimate and personally took ownership to ensure that the repair process will be successful. As scheduled his engineering team arrived on site and immediately started working. Within minutes Ron Smith showed up and talked to his team and came to me to explain what was being done, how long it will take. He asked if I had any questions or concerns to call him anytime. Halfway through the process Ron Smith showed up again and talked to his team and inform me they will be done shortly and will contact WSSC to review and approve the work done. This morning bright and early the team returned and filled and level the trench and replaced the grass sod over work area and I could hardly see where they dug the trench at all. I called Gaithersburg Plumbing, Inc and thanked them for a job well done by Ron Smith and his team.

So I strongly suggest the person looking at my review reads it instead of looking at the star rating. Depending on who you are you may rank them higher or lower.

The issue:
My main water line sprung a leak during the cold weather. I decided I should replace the whole line rather than patch it. I called a bunch of plumbers and only Gaitherburg Plumbing actually responded. They managed to quickly get a guy out to give me an estimate on the waterline replacement.

The estimate is simple and they gave me a fair value. They said it would be an easy job that would take slightly over half a day since my waterline had easy access underneath my grass. Setting up an appointment to have them come out and fix it was simple.

Day One:
The plumbers show up and dig the normal hole needed to address my main water line. They had everything pretty much ready by lunchtime and were working on switching out the pipes. They told me there was some complications and they couldn't pull the pipe out and they may have to rip up my garage in order to get the pipe through. I expressed I was not happy about that. A couple hours pass and they came back and said they needed to cut and dig up a hole in my driveway. They said it was my only option if I wanted water. They said if they didn't do it, the replacement wouldn't work out and they'd have to rip up my basement and a larger hole in my driveway if I didn't approve them to dig a small hole in my driveway. I asked them if this would be it and they assured me it would be simple once they got this hole dug. I gave them the go ahead. They dug the hole but it was approaching the end of the day. They said they'd have to come back another day, but they had everything they needed right there in that hole and it'd be a quick couple hours and everything will go smoothly.

Day Two:
The plumbers were there bright and early and working on it. Suddenly after a couple hours they said they had complications. They said that their boss was telling them to convince me to dig up my garage and basement. The plumbers were nice enough to tell their boss I wouldn't approve it. So they said they could easily dig two holes in the grass on the side of my house and pretty much be done. This really annoyed me because yesterday they told me they had to dig up my garage and driveway and there was no other way. It turns out there was another way! I give them the go ahead on the holes on the side of my house which they continue to dig. There simple two holes didn't work. They came back and said they had complications and needed to dig a trench along the side of my house. Since it was dirt I was okay with it because I needed it over. They dug the trench and I had water. They didn't fill any of the holes back in because their machine broke. They told me they'd fill it back in the next day after the inspector comes and approves their work. I was happy I at least had water. I asked them if I needed to take any precautions so the new pipe won't freeze while still partially exposed. They assured me they couldn't possibly happen.

Day Three:
I wake up and go to shower. To my surprise I have no water. I call the plumbing company who eventually sends a guy out. He looks and tells me my waterline froze, but not to worry it was only the connector. He said no damage would come to the line. I am weary if that is truly the case, but it seems to make sense the way he described it. He defrosted the connector and I had water again. I just had to leave my water running all day to prevent it from freezing again. The other plumbers finally showed up and filled in the holes after the inspector approved of their work.

The Aftermath:
Pros:
Despite taking longer they didn't charge me extra because my contract explicitly stated the price for the job and not for how long they worked it.

Cons:
They did do the final charge on my credit card with out my approval (They did call me to tell me they think I approved it so they were just going to charge it). I won't hold that against them since I would've used that credit card for the final approval. I should point this out for anyone who might not be happy about that.

My carpet is an absolute mess. They did not lay down any plastic tarps over the rugs they had to walk on. I expected them to keep a thing neater, but my light colored rug is now caked with mud and probably stained. I'll have to get my carpets cleaned. Mind you it is not a little bit of dirt it is A LOT. The plumber saw that on the last day and was like well I tried to at least not to dirty it I just wasn't successful you can't hold that against me.

My shelving is still on the floor. They ripped down shelving because it was in their way. They never put it back up and it's just laying on my basement floor.

They did a really bad job filling the holes. They didn't really pack the hole and I have massive mounds of dirt on my lawn and a small one in the hole in my driveway (They don't fix concrete damage)

I used Gaithersburg Plumbing because my private insurance company uses this company as an independent contractor.  I was very dissatisfied.  Not only did they misdiagnosis my broken toilet, but they took my deductible of 85.00.  My husband went out and purchased a new toilet and put it in himself after being told that there was a blockage in the line, not in the toilet.  The blockage was in the toilet.  I have a working, new toilet, no thanks to Gaithersburg Plumbing!  My husband took the broken toilet to the Gaithersburg Plumbing the next day, showing them where the blockage was.  They told my husband that they would not give back the 85.00. but that they would send me a refund of 20.00 once my check had cleared.  How ridiculous!!!!  I have since reported the company to my insurance company.  I do not recommend this company!

Gaithersburg Plumbing worked on water pipes under my mother's front yard a few years ago.  They did not call the utility company to have them mark the lines going into the house.  They ended up cutting her FIOS cable while digging in her yard and took no responsibility for it.  A few days after the cable was cut we had a blizzard so my mom was without phone and internet for 3 weeks.  Gaithersburg plumbing never filled the trench they dug.  They just left if there assuming Verizon would fix it.    I would stay far away from them.

I was referred to Gaithersburg Plumbing by a friend--I need a new water heater. They came the day I called.  After they removed my water heater and installed a new one ,  it was after 9pm. When I went to use my water it was warm, not hot. A worker came the next day and adjusted the temperature. I noticed white stains on my deck in front of where the water heater is stored. Also, there were footprints on my kitchen floor where the workers had walked.  I had to use bleach and a scrub brush to remove the stains.  Today an inspector came fro the City of Rockville to inspect the work that Gaithersbug Plumbing had done (this is standard procedure).  I noticed a chain hanging from the top of the door jamb.  The inspector said it should have been attached to the door to keep it from hitting my deck railing.  I have a six year manufacturer warranty.  If I need service, I will not call Gaithersburg Plumbing!!

Don't bother, there are plenty of other plumbers.  I have used them twice and had problems both times.  First incident, the technician tells me that I cannot switch from a dual to single knob faucet in my shower.  So, I purchased another dual knob.  A few days later, another technician comes out and tells me I should install a single faucet.  Luckily I saved the single knob - he was able to replace/install the necessary pipes and valves to accommodate a single.  So, it took 2 trips and over 4 hours to replace one shower faucet.  Second incident, the technician installed new valves in my guest bathroom.  Though I had no leaks from the pipes, the valves were not installed correctly (they were never tightened).  So, first time using the shower, there was absolutely no water pressure and when I attempted to turn the faucets off, the valves popped out, water was shooting out, flooding my bathroom floor, and damaging the hard wood floors in the hallway.

Gaithersburg Plumbing provides horrible customer service. I've been without hot water, a working shower, or a working bath all week, and the only status update I can get is, maybe Monday. Their hold music specifically states other companies require multiple trips but they get the job done because they carry required parts. Yet here I am waiting for a part. I have no idea why the part wasn't rushed, and I have no idea when it will get here. I was told 2-3 days, then maybe Friday, and now, maybe Monday. Please note they are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau.

Not happy about this company. I am doing a renovation and called to see if they could sell me a bathtub with certain specifications. They would not give me any information ecept they get stuff from Home depot and Lowe's. i don't believe they don't know other suppliers. I did offer to buy it from them if they would order. Very stingy.

I want to share my experience so it doesn't happen to you.
Don't use Gaithersburg plumbing they are not proficient and as they charge by the hour you will get a huge bill even if your problem is not solved. They take things very slow; they keep coming and going to their van looking for parts that they don't have
Also they don't know what they are doing the technician was texting and sending pictures to his boss trying to figure out why a faucet could leak.

Gaithersburg plumbing was recommended when I had a leak in the wall behind the bathtub's faucet.
When I called GP they told me that they charge the visit and then by the hour and then every 10 minutes..

The technician showed up and looked at the problem and decided to change the gasket of the overflow that was dry. So he had to go to his van to look for the part came back ten minutes later, try to replace the part for a while and he was not successful, it was too thick. So trying to help I told him that that gasket was not going to fit in there that maybe he should try with a thinner one. He thought it was a good idea and he went down to his van again to look for another one. Came back ten minutes later and he finally made it. So up to here it was almost   40 to 45 minutes.

Then he started to look at the leak at the back of the valve. He didn't know how to tackle this and start texting and sending photos to his boss asking how he could fix the leak.
Finally took the faucet trim apart and got the cartridge out, keep on texting to his boss and said that the cartridge had a crack and he had to replace it .So he went to his van to get the part. After 20 minutes he came back and said that it was not a common cartridge and that they didn't keep that part in the van (wouldn't he know what parts he had in the van)
So he brought a new faucet to change the whole thing (when you change the faucet you actually have to change the back valve also so add the value of the faucet the valve and I wonder how long it would take him to change all that as he didn't know what he was doing). The finish of the faucet he was offering was chrome and it didn't match with the shower and the spout that were satin nickel, so I didn't think it was a good idea, so he put back the trim and faucet and decided that the leak was gone.(even any plumber would know that if the cartridge is broken the leak was not fixed and I was naive enough to believe it)
So he went back to his van to do the ticket and came back after another 10 minutes and wanted to charge me $300 for spending 2 hours in my apartment and not solving my problem.  Denied to pay that (he spent like and hour coming and going to his van) but still charged me $170.

The next day when I took a shower the faucet was still leaking..
To make this story short I called a handy man that took the faucet apart and went for the cartridge to the Home Depot, that is 3 blocks away from my apartment, came back, change it and charge me $150 for labor and parts.

Conclusion, they are a plumbing scam, check for other similar experiences reviews in Yelp.

What a joke!  Do not call them for anything!  I have American Home Shield and was sent this company because my facet would not shut off.  The guy looked at it and not 5 minutes later said you need a new cartridge, should take 2 to 4 days to receive.  He left without trying to adjust the facet so the water was not pouring out.  Eight days later I called Gaithersburg Plumbing back and the woman said oh, yeah that part is no longer made so you need a new faucet.  I was furious!  Mostly because of the water that was being wasted!  She said yeah and the technician said you don't have access to the facet from the back so YOU'LL have to create an access panel.  I said I WILL HAVE TO??  She said well AHS does not cover that but we can do it; but you will have to pay for it.  I said I would NEVER let Gaithersburg Plumbing back into my house.  I got a contractor friend who knows a plumber to come over and he took OFF the facet and adjusted the mechanism in the back to at least stop the leak.  He also said it was an American Standard and can be replaced from the front!  What the...???  So Gaithersburg Plumbing was going to cash in from both AHS and Me!

This place is awful!!!!!! They say they are professionals however that is a major joke.. If your problem isn't right in front of them they don't want to have anything to do with it what theeeeee???? Why are they in business? I have a warranty and my warranty company sent them out  they flushed some toilets listened for lord knows what and said the leak that wasn't in my kitchen? That it came from my roof???? Well when I insisted that another plumbing company come back out they had true plumbers that were there to do their jobs they found the LEAK which was coming from the second floor restroom which in return was leaking in the Kitchen I don't do plumbing and I knew the leak was there!! And not from the ROOF !!!.... Anyway ARS fixed the problem they are located in Laurel MD

it is suggested that you never call this company... they are a HUGE ripoff!!! called them on a sunday and since it was an emergency, they charged us 250.00 just to come out... It is then 120.00 per hour. The guy comes out and is  not happy with the job that he sees needed. Kept runnin gin and out of house to get tools from trcuk looking at his watch because he needed to be somewhere by 2:30.Eneded up , he did not complete. They send someones the next day and charges an additonal 40.00 trip charge!!!!!!!!!!!!! Over 800.00 later, foR a clogged drain, So here we are a little less than 3 months later, with exact same problem and only a 30 day guarantee..The guy comes in and is here 20 -25 min....160.00... he told us we could do this or that and everything he said was racking up these incredible charges..he was a salesman. To take the commode out to lokk was 120.00.. to put it back was another was 120.00.. on and on....so not worth it...1000.00 later and very disatisfied.
