I needed a plumber ASAP and happened to search for one via google. I called around to different plumbers and was not happy with what I found. I made one more call and that was to Fry Plumbing. Boy was I happy to have found them. The gentleman who took my call was friendly and professional.

Within an hour, Billy arrived to fix my clogged toilet. He was done within a half hour. He made a dirty situation into comedy. He was a joy. I have to say, I found a wonderful plumbing company which I can refer others. Thank you Fry Plumbing for being a customer friendly, professional, fast, and affordable company.

Scam.

I called Fry Plumbing to replace my water heater and scheduled an appointment for Thursday morning. We discussed the cost of replacing the heater which was competitive and also discussed an $85 service fee (remember this for later). They did not show up Thursday morning and instead told me the appointment was scheduled for Friday. Fine. Friday morning, the son of owner shows up without equipment, without the additional person it would take to install a new water heater, and without the heater itself. He then tells me he doesn't even specialize in water heaters, he specializes in sewers BUT he believes the problem isn't with the heater he believes it's with the mixing valve. So, he adjusts the temperature the water heater (which I had done before) and he takes a few pictures and says they will get back to me later that day. All in all, he was there for about 5 minutes.

They do not get back to me later that day. I don't hear back until Tuesday when another Fry representative calls me to tell me that he thinks the son's mixing valve theory is completely wrong and that I probably need thermostats but that I should wait and see if it continues to be an issue and they can waive the service fee. I agree and say I'll be sure to call them back with any future issues.

Fast forward two days to when I get a bill for $150. I assumed it was a mistake so I called Fry Plumbing and was told, no, it was not a mistake, $150 is the service minimum (not the $85 I was originally told) and that I was a liar. I was eventually put on the phone with the owner, who continued to tell me I was a liar even after I explained that I was planning to continue to use them for additional plumbing needs and charging me $150 for sending someone with the wrong expertise out to my home for 5 minutes seemed short-sighted because they would be losing me as a customer.

Bottom line:

1. They lie about their prices
2. They do not show up when they are supposed to
3. They send the wrong people without equipment when they do show up
4. Scam to bilk people out of $150 and they have no interest in on-going business relationships.

Called about a leaky radiator and the man I talked to was extremely condescending and called me dear. He seemed knowledgeable and I thanked him for his recommendations, but I'd never call them again.

Outstanding service! My AC stopped working on a day where the temperature was expected to get up to 92 degrees, which was stressful to say the least. They were able to get to my house within an hour of me calling (partially a stroke of luck in the scheduling and where the technician was in the city at the time, but it was great nonetheless). They had the issue identified and resolved within an hour and now my house doesn't feel like a sauna anymore. Reasonable price too, highly recommended!

Definitely won't be hiring them again, I made a call for one of my uncles house he has for rent and they had gave me some sort of quote over the phone.. turns out whenever they got done with the job they decided to change the price and the next day It ended up with a leak.
Do not recommend!

Fry came to do a routine annual service on my cast iron radiator system. They arrived as scheduled and I was initially very impressed with the tech, David. He spent a long time talking to me about the system, telling me what problems to keep an eye out for, and figuring out how to bleed the brand-new, super-fancy British radiators that we'd just installed in our attic. We had to go into a crawl space to find some hidden valves that the contractor had installed, and he was really nice about that too - especially as filling up and bleeding the system required a LOT of running up and down stairs for him. In the end, he charged me for a flat hour of work at $150, which I consider very reasonable. Previously, I've had Presidential Plumbing out to service the system, and they'd told me that I urgently needed $1,400 worth of work. David said there nothing whatsoever wrong with the boiler, nothing needed to be replaced, and snorted when he heard about Presidential's estimate. When I'd spoken to Jonny (whom I believe to be either the owner or manager) earlier on the phone and told him about the estimate that I'd received, he was also skeptical and expressed that Fry doesn't replace something if it isn't broken.

It would have been very easy for Fry to come into my house, say oh yeah, you need $1,400 worth of work, for sure and head it with a nice check. So lots of kudos to them - they seem really honest!!

Unfortunately, when I went up to check the attic after David left, I found a huge puddle of water spreading all over the floor. It turns out that the plumber who installed my new radiators forgot to seal two of the radiator valves. Obviously that's not David's fault! But the valves are located on the bottom of the radiator, and would have been leaking freely the entire time he was filling and bleeding the system, so I think he should have spotted the problem (esp because he knew the radiators hadn't been tested before). I was also bummed out to find grease smears on my newly-painted white walls and on my bathtub - he must have used a really dirty rag to catch the water from the radiator bleeding, and it left brown marks on four walls that wouldn't wash off, so I had to re-paint those areas.

I took a star off the review for these two issues but was generally very happy with the service. I'm personally very willing to put up with a lot from a company that I know won't rip me off, and Fry overall did a very job. My only advice would be to spot-check the work site for cleanliness before they leave.

Although I had to wait 72 hours for Fry to send a plumber out for my clogged bathroom sink drain, Thomas turned up on time and did a great job finding the problem and snaking it out. Cleaned up his mess very nicely. The price was reasonable, as well.  No regrets.

Most professional, they showed up at my house on the same day I called, even tho this was not an emergency. After much investigation, the problem was solved. A problem that another technician could not solve.I would use this company for all P & H issues.

2 weeks ago Fry plumber sent someone to look at my boiler I thought they were going to fix it however they said I would be receiving a brand new system. On Monday December 16th they arrived at my house at 8:00am and by 1:30pm they had completely installed my new boiler system. I think it still needs a little tweaking they did a great job. The guys were very professional. Now on Tuesday they came at 7:00am to install a new water heater they were finished by 10:30am they again did a great job  I would recommend them again. Now I     see some reviews that are not great however as for me and my house they served it well

People on my local listserv recommended them, as did a local general contractor.  I had some plumbing work and some HVAC work that needed doing.  The plumber did good, clean work, but left the two toilets he'd worked on with slow leaks.  I called and asked him to return to fix the leaks, and we agreed to a four-hour time window.  They missed the time window without a phone call until afterwards.  Not a big deal, but still a bit frustrating; couldn't they just pick up the phone?

I asked for an estimate to move the AC compressor to the roof of my house.  I was promised an estimate in a few days.  Thirty days later, after 5 phone calls and a request to speak with the owner, I had no estimate.  I called and asked for my money back, and they agreed to issue me a refund.  It's clear they don't actually want my business.

I highly recommend Fry Plumbing. I received prompt, courteous, and professional service. Marc + Carlos came out to do a sewer line inspection, and addressed all of our concerns. They were friendly, and we felt at ease asking all of our questions. Thanks!

I called Fry to have someone come out to unclog my kitchen sink. I was given an appointment for the next day and told to be home between 12pm and 2pm. After taking off work for the afternoon, they did not show up or call. Very unprofessional.

Excellent service at a reasonable price with straightforward, amiable advice from start to finish.

Would recommend and use again.

Needed a faucet, disposal, and dishwasher hookup after new sink & countertop install. Fry Plumbing advised on first call what pieces to buy (incl. what disposal) and where (gave accurate price comparisons at several hardware stores).

Also discussed care for various other appliances (incl. gas stove and water heater).

Thanks.

Thomas came and fixed my VERY clogged shower drain. It took a lot of work but he kept reassuring me, I think I will be able to fix it. I just have to be a little creative and sure enough, he did it. He was on time, pleasant, and professional. I would highly recommend this company!

Fry Plumbing is one of the most professional, informative, and competitively priced companies I have ever worked with. They were absolutely fantastic and went out of the way to help me with my shower. As a single female that knows nothing about plumbing, I'm always nervous that I'll be taken advantage of, or that the employees coming into my home will be unprofessional.

They fit me in the same day, and Casey called me 15 minutes after I called the office to see what time would work best for my schedule. Casey and Marc came out the same day, diagnosed the issue, had the parts in their truck, and did the work right then and there. They were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and I will absolutely be calling them again. They explained what they were doing in layman's terms, have me options, fixed the issue on the spot, and offered a government discount!

We made the switch to Fry, after our previous HVAC company told us we needed a bunch of work on our AC system.  We had done much work about 3 years before, and felt their suggestions might be unwarranted.  Fry came over took a look at our systems and said they looked fine.  Four years later, we are going strong.  We have used them for plumbing as well.  We have never had a problem with no show appointments.  They always come during the window and frequently at the top of the time.  We absolutely recommend them.

They quoted us installation for a water heater. We'd learned after they installed it they have not pulled the permit. They expected us to pull the building permit. When I went down to pay I was told that they had to pull it since they were licensed and done the work. The inspector called them and said pull the permit now or we will fine you. Now we received a bill over-inflated from what the building department charge them. If you go to the building department yourself it is only $44 for a water heater. Always make sure that permits license and insurance is up-to-date with any contractor you let in your home and work on your stuff. We called them because the old Mr. Fry was good . This business has been bought out by someone else who just kept the name.

If I could give this place 0 Stars, I would.  About 2 MONTHS ago, they came to fix our shower and a sink.  They fixed the shower ... eventually, but while they were fixing our sink they broke the knob!  First, they denied that they broke the knob, then they continuously stood us up when they said they'd come to replace it!  And they kept sending different 'teams' of men to replace it (why we need 2 guys to replace 1 knob is still a mystery to me) which inevitably ended with the We don't have the right tools or We don't have the right parts.  Thus, WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THEM TO REPAIR THE KNOB THEY BROKE 2 MONTHS AGO!!!  What a bunch of worthless, unknowledgable, unprofessional people.  They better be sure the BBB will be hearing from me about their horrible business.

The did a great job and definitely knew their stuff.  My only concern was they couldn't really give me an exact price in advance but still, their price was reasonable and I'd use them again.

Expensive Service and Not for your Emergency Situations, you are better of calling another service!

Fry installed a boiler back in 2010 for our Washington DC property. Today (Friday), I called in an emergency situation as it is polar bear cold and the furnace wasn't working. Anna serviced the telephone call (polite and courtesy). After giving her the address, telephone number and name she had difficulty pulling up the file, stating the computer was timing out. She took my information and stated she would callback- she did. When asked how soon could they make it out, she said the earliest was Tuesday.  I responded with hmmm, that's the earliest you can respond to an emergency situation. She pondered then stated, we can put you on the waitlist for Tuesday or sooner in the event something opens up. Then, she proceeded to share the cost was $205/ 1st hour and $165/ every 1/2 hour afterwards after hesitantly saying if they are to try and make a visit today.

We used Fry to snake the main drain to our house.  They were very reasonable compared to other companies we looked at.  It ended up that the blockage was in the street, so DC Water had to come out and do the repair.  They walked with us and showed us where the block was in the street with their beeping tool.

They also gave us a quote to replace some galvanized pipes with copper, and it was a little high, so we didn't use them for that.

I contacted four companies for some plumbing work that I needed done.  Fry was the only one that I felt had comprehensive pricing.  $150 for the first hour, and $110 for each hour after that.  It's not cheap, but it was efficient. Scheduling wasn't bad and while Thomas (the plumber who arrived) was a little late both times (25 min) he was hard working, efficient, and you could really tell he wanted to a good job.  He needed some parts to finish the job (that I bought and picked up) and split his time over two visits, and didn't charge a premium for doing so.  They are local, and I would use them again!

Made an appointment first thing in the morning within a 2 hour window for the afternoon.  No show, no call.  If you like wasting time for repairmen that never show, here's your choice.
