Duvall's

Called Duvall's on Friday because my AC was acting up. They came out Monday and had the system running in less than 30 minutes. We have used Duvall's for 3 years now on various systems in our house. They are professional, responsive, friendly and reasonably priced. Hands down the best HVAC and Plumbing company in the area.

Duvall is the only plumber willing to get in our very small crawl space and fix the many issues with our 92 year old  home.  As you can imagine, old pipes break and leak often.  Jay and his group are always there to figure out a solution for our  problems.   Their rates are reasonable and fair.  I would never call anyone but them!

Our sink in the kitchen got clogged. We tried using all sorts of DIY to fix it to no avail. I called around for a plumber to compare prices and I was getting a quote for $400-$800, another plumber came to the house but couldn't unclog the sink. He started talking about opening walls to find where the damage was. I kept searching for a plumber and found Duvall's which is highly recommended by our neighbors. I'm so glad I did, not only did they fix the problem, the charges were a fraction from other plumbing companies. The owner and daughter were very nice. I would definitely highly recommend Duvall's. They are friendly, reliable, honest and not overpriced. Thank you

My AC unit had a refrigerant leak. I called them, and the repair men arrived same day within a couple hours.

They didn't try to up-sell me on anything, gave me 3 choices (refill it, refill it and add a dye to see if they can pinpoint the leak, or replace the whole HVAC system as it's old and the leak might be in an un-repairable spot and would require replacement anyways). We discussed the choices, I chose one, they explained the process, answered a few of my questions (they were very knowledgeable).

Prices were Fairfax-fair (i.e. not cheap, but no price gouging either). This will likely be my new HVAC go-to company.

Review is long overdue. Tyson and Cody replaced by bath tub two years ago, and then I called them to do plumbing for laundry remodel. Both excellent. I usually feed contractors, and I regret I did not feed these guys, do not recall why. Either they declined or I got bogged down with other things.

Tyson, saved me $$$$ when I wanted the washing machine hose drain into the cast iron pipe , meaning he had to cut pipe and insert PVC, Probably saved me $1000. Recommended the old fashioned way, have washer drain into laundry tub.

Work was professional, fair priced.

Review overdue since I completely forgot, and just got reminded when I came online to find their contact info so I can cancel a hot water heater replacement  I have for this week.

I temporarily changed the thermocouple. I had called Duvall Plumbing, spoke with Jay, very knowledgeable- did not try to sell me hot water heater, but I requested one since mine is 14 yrs old, past its time, but my virus paranoia, led me to postpone replacement and change thermocouple.
Will used them when things calm down, to replace tank, as well as perhaps replace the furnace and maybe AC as preventive measures.

I wish I knew of them over the past 40 years since I owned many rentals. During this time I had a good friend doing HVAC but my plumbing was done by different people all with issues. Showing up drunk, etc. That is reason, they did not have steady jobs or a company.

. Going forward DUVALL IS THE ONLY COMPANY TO USE. HARD TO FIND DECENT COMPANIES TODAY. DUVALL HAS INTEGRITY, FAIR PRICED, AND NORMAL PEOPLE DOING THE WORK.

They came in the unclog my kitchen sink . I had asked them to bring in a snake . It is one mans job . The other guy just stood there . Went to the basement. To listen to the noise . They ran the snake and unclogged the kitchen sink . I had to sign on there receipt that there work is not guaranteed. They were there for 25 min charged me $300.00 . They told me for two people labor . I was shocked as his son did not do anything except rolled the coil and carried it back to his dad's truck . I even told him your son is not interested in this job . He said yes .

I live in Manassas and I had a pipe that was leaking slowly from a soldered joint behind my shower. I have never had to call a plumber before so I turned to yelp and this company had great reviews so I decided to give them a try. I called on a Wednesday afternoon and spoke to a very friendly receptionist who made the first avaiable appointment for Friday afternoon between Noon and 4pm. Tyson and James called me around 1pm on Friday and to tell me they were about 20 to 30 mins away from place. When they arrived they were very friendly and got right to work and made fixing my leak look easy. (See the before and after pictures I posted.) They charged me what I thought was a reasonable price and told me they guaranteed their work for a year.

I'm always weary when I have to call on someone for service. Many times they don't show up on time, try to up sell, or charge you for more than what you need. This was a very positive experience because these guys showed up right when they said they would and didn't try to sell me on things I didn't need to have done. They also gave me some free advice on a couple other plumbing issues I had questions about around my home. It is very likely I will call these guys again when I decide to get these things fixed.

I had an EXTREMELY difficult to reach cast iron sewage pipe that needed replacement. Over two years, I'd had 3 different companies send out techs. Each one was a horror story of estimates and in one case (i won't mention them here) outright incompetence. But we couldn't put it off anymore and I tried Duvall.

The previous guys pretty much told me we had to rip down walls and one guy said we had to tear up our floors as well. So when Tyson said he could get to it without destroying my house, I was ecstatic. He was able to replace the leaking cast iron as well as old drainage copper with PVC for much MUCH less than the other guys. Probably because he wasn't trying to basically ask me to renovate my house to fix a leak. They did a great job, did it in one day, and after 4 months it's still holding up aces.

Very good quality.  Saved me a lot of money.  Highly recommended. They take care of keeping your house clean by putting on booties and/or protective covering on floor.  Kind techs.

First, a review from service before there was Yelp - Duvall was the third quote I received for furnace going bad many years ago.  Company 1 (too long ago to remember name) came in and said I needed a new one gave me a price.  Company 2 came in and just asked who diagnosed it, they just said they typically agree with them and gave me a price.  When Duvall's came in they looked it over and said, yes it's old, yes you'll need a new one relatively soon, but, for now we can do this.  It lasted probably ~15 years more.  They could've just said I need a new one.

Now, the current review.  The furnace died.  I did my due diligence and received various quotes even though I wanted them to install it.  When they didn't come in cheapest, I called them and told them that though I wanted their service, they didn't come in lowest.  Duvall's then changed their quote enabling me to hire them.

I have used Duvall's now at 2 different homes.  As a female, I love that I can trust knowing they are telling me an honest review of what is going on with my HVAC and a good price.  Most recently, I had 5 different companies come out to review my Heat Pump, every single company told me completely different stories of what I needed, what was wrong, how much freon I needed to replacing the entire unit.  I knew I should have just initially called Duvall.  They came out right away, told me exactly what was going on, replaced the parts at a great price.

Highly recommend them!  Heat went out and they came within 2 hours..they saved our bacon from a cold night!!  Very nice, professional and reasonable!!  Would definitely call them again if needed!  Thanks guys!

I have used the services of Duvall's Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning for more than 20 years-first in my Manassas house and now in Alexandria..  I have always been pleased with the excellent quality of service, fairness of pricing and courtesy.
Recently, I had a particularly tricky mess after my neighbor dug up my irrigation system and ruined my outside plumbing.  Duvall's worked with my irrigation company over several weeks to solve the problems. J.C., the owner, personally came out to diagnose the problem and make the repairs. I was not charged extra for the many visits, extra parts, or man hours.
This is truly Customer Service. Duvall's mechanics are extremely knowledgeable, reliable and professional. I highly recommend them.

Update - Friday morning as I was getting ready for work - I turned on the shower and ... nothing.  No hot water.  I checked the breakers... nada... checked the other sinks in the house... nada, it was official, my 12 year old hot water heater pooped out on me.

I took a quick Army shower and took my grumpy tail to work.  I called Duvall's and the awesome woman on the line (whose name I neglected to get) offered me emergency service over the weekend - which I declined.  We set up a service call for Monday afternoon.   Matt arrived, and immediately could tell that there was no saving my hot water heater... it was a goner.

He called into the office, then provided me with a quote and confirmed they would be back the following afternoon.

On Tuesday, John and his crew arrived in the afternoon and within an hour or so they had the old unit drained, removed and the new one installed, hooked up... and streaming glorious hot water!  I might add that I live on the 4th floor of my condo building, those stairs are no fun.  

The guys at Duvall's are fantastic!  They've worked on my sinks, hot water heater, corroded laundry lines, my heat and my AC... and since my house hates me and is going to continue to fall apart... I will continue to call them for all my HVAC/Plumbing needs.

These guys are total pros. From the time I discovered my hot water heater had failed to the time they had finished the replacement was a total of two hours and twenty minutes. That's got to be some kind of record. Exceptional service!!!  I highly recommend.

We've had Duvall out for all our plumbing issues and can't recommend them enough. Most recently Tyson was out to assess a leaky spigot outside. It definitely needed replacing, which he recommended and while cutting an access out of the basement drywall had me come down and explain/show me what he was doing. Knowing our house was going on the market, he showed me some places the siding could be sealed to prevent water intrusion since there was some dampness in the wall where the spigot was replaced. He let me know this wasn't work Duvall did, but just to inform me. Great guys to work with - I would definitely recommend.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about one of the plumbers, Tyson, and the fantastic service he provided! My bathtub stopped draining one evening, and I just thought it was a slow drain. When it wasn't gone in the morning and water started coming INTO the tub after using the sink and flushing the toilet (GROSS), I knew something was terribly wrong. I attempted to clear the drain myself with absolutely zero luck. Duvall provides a lot of plumbing services for my condo building and they came highly recommended by the manager on site. Our building is in Chantilly, and it looks like they service most of Northern Virginia.

I called Duvall at 1:30 p.m. and they were here within an hour. Normally, it may have taken longer, but Tyson was already servicing another unit in my building and he stopped by while he was here. He first tried to clear the clog from the toilet and then got a different snake for the tub. He is extremely pleasant and was really helpful in answering my questions. I was worried it was a much bigger issue than just a blockage, but after some careful diagnosis, we realized it was just a REALLY bad blockage.

After about an hour and two snakes later, Tyson was able to clear up my clog and do so without braking my bank account! The company comes highly recommended from my neighbors (one of which was almost screwed over into a brand new water heater by a different company, but it was really just a $50 fix! Which Duvall did with ease), and now they come highly recommended from me.

Give them a call when you have any trouble. You will NOT be disappointed.

John Duvall, owner, personally came to my house to attempt to fix my kitchen faucet. He tried for about an hour and came to the conclusion that the head piece was incorrectly installed (they used the wrong part in the first place) so he recommended that I purchase a new faucet and he would replace it the next day. He only charged me for one visit which was awesome! He was very punctual and nice. I will use him again!

Also, he does HVAC work and quickly looked over my two systems and provided me a quote for cleaning.

Our water heater started leaking on Sunday AM (we knew it would need to be replaced, as it was installed 17 years ago).

Searched on YELP for a plumber, and determined to go with a local-owned company. Liked what I read for Duvall's, and called their number.

I spoke with the agent, told them what we had, and figured out that we could be okay with current unit until Monday, so we didn't have an emergency fee (although they had techs ready to come if we wanted).

Called Monday AM and scheduled appointment for 9:45. They arrived (John, the owner, was the lead tech) with replacement unit on the truck, was quoted a reasonable price, and they got down to it. New water heater was installed by 11:00!

This was one of the best plumbing interactions I have ever had! I will not go anywhere else for any plumbing/heating/AC work in the future!

Was referred by a friend. I called Tyson and he had me check a couple things. Wasnt an emergency. He called me Monday morning and scheduled an appointment that day. John and Rey showed up on time and handled the problem efficiently and very professionally. They were great!! I will definitely use them again!

Had a clogged sink and had tried fixing it myself for about a week.  I called Duvall's and they had people out to me the next day, after 30 minutes and only a $160 invoice the sink is unclogged and working right as rain, they had to snake it 40 feet.  Tyson and James were professional and friendly and I was very satisfied with their work.  

I would highly recommend Duvall's plumbing and will use them again next time I have a plumbing issue.

The HVAC Guy Who Saved Christmas

Our heater went down last night (and its getting cold in early November).  Called up the local company who had done work for us in the past (I won't mention their name at the moment) and they checked the furnace and told me I'd need a new gas valve.  Cost?  $764.  After I finished choking, I called a buddy and asked him to recommend HVAC guys that I could trust for a second opinion.  He recommended Duvall so I called them and spoke to John, the owner himself.  He told me he was around the corner from my house and had a gas valve in his truck he thought would fit and that he would only charge me $325.  

I was elated and he was here in 15 minutes.  After further inspection, he told me he thought I didn't need a new valve at all but rather a good cleaning of the burners.  Within half an hour, the burners were de-clogged of dirt and the house was heating back up again.  $150!

The honest and capable Mr. Duvall just earned a customer for life!

I have used Duvalls in both a rental property I own and my home as well.  Every time they come out I am impressed.  They are respectful of my home and honest!  I had a leak in my water heater in the rental property and I assumed I would be told I need a new one as it was quite old, but they told me they could fix it with a part that cost $1.00.  We did go over what was starting to go wrong and that I should think about replacing it, but it didnt need to be done immediately.  Needless to say, when the tenant moved out and the unit was empty, I decided to replace the water heater with Duvalls.  Its very refreshing to not feel pressured into spending tons of money.  I had a clogged kitchen sink at my home and again Tyson (who is great) discussed the problem and did what he could to save money.  If you need any plumbing, I would definitely reccommed Duvalls as they are professional and honest!

Don't even think about using anyone else - seriously!  We have used Duvall Plumbing many times for over 15 years and they have always, always been fast, professional, honest, and very reasonable in prices.  Not just reasonable - very reasonable, and did I say honest?  I don't know why John Duvall doesn't hire more plumbers to keep up with the work.  They are always busy because everyone knows about them.  I usually have to wait a day or two for the appointment but if it saves me $500+, I always have the time.  There is no one near as good as these guys.

We first contacted Duvall's when our A/C decided to die in the middle of an August heat wave. We asked our next door neighbor for a recommendation, and he immediate gave us Duvall's contact info as they've been happy customers for many years. It was immediately evident why - the office staff is friendly and professional, and they slotted us in right away as an emergency call. John arrived with his crew and they got right to work. I was very impressed with their professionalism and thoroughness and they soon had our A/C up and running. As soon as we got the flyer advertising their furnace check special, we called to schedule an appointment for both the furnace and our gas fireplace, because there's no other company we trust as much. As John said, they're not the cheapest, but they certainly aren't the most expensive; as I told him, their prices are money very well spent, especially for the quality service you get.

I was recommended  to this company by someone. So I made an appt with Tyson. I had few plumbing issues going on; needless to say, I was very embarrassed on how long I waited to fix the issue. However, as the issue got worse I had no choice but to make the call. So I called this company; Tyson came out, I  had a leak in my ceiling, and Tyson was very knowledgeable and knew what caused the problem. One issue was the tub facet needed to be replaced and in my other bathroom the seal needed to replace around the tub area, and also had a clog as well. Something so minor I didn't realize would cause this leak.  It's been about month now and haven't seen any more leaks. Tyson is very friendly, honest and the price was in my budget which I thought would be a lot more.  He was very patient and answered pretty much any of my  questions I had and also gave me recommendations and in addition  showing me few other tips.  Now this what you call a great plumber that goes out there way. This company will be my number one company  I call for any future plumbing problems.
