Brookland Plumbing

Brookland came to fix 2 leaky toilets, and a loose faucet handle.  He came right on time, fixed the problems quickly and showed me how to fix the faucet handle if it happened again.

2 days later I noticed one of the toilets was leaking, he came back out right away, realized it was a small issue unrelated to what he fixed (but hadn't been noticed when the other leak was happening), but still fixed it without charge.

After frustrating experiences with bigger company, I will use Brookland again if i need a plumber.

My tenant informed me they had no hot water. I knew what the problem was, the valve cartridge needed to be adjusted, but also knew it would take me a while to do it, and my vision isn't the best. I found Brookland Plumbing online and liked their good reviews and the fact that it was really a mom and pop shop. Raciel called 5 minutes before he was scheduled to arrive to tell me that he was 5 minutes away, which I loved.

Working with his wife, Aya (?), they were able to fix the issue in and showed me exactly what needed to be done 15 minutes . However, they do charge by the hour. He offered to fix any other plumbing issue I might have to use the rest of the time. It just so happened that my bathroom toilet, I live directly across the street, was loose. Apparently, the previous plumber put a new wax ring over the old wax ring and the tile on the floor was not even. Fortunately, I had a spare wax ring and Raciel applied epoxy to level and stabilize the toilet. Although they went a little over an hour, they did not charge me for a second hour. They also replaced the porcelain bolt cap for aesthetics.

I was super pleased with their service and will definitely call them again for any plumbing issue. #SupportSmallBusiness

Ours was a simple problem -- our showerhead was leaking due to a broken shower cartridge -- but one completely beyond my or my husband's technical know-how to diagnose let alone fix.  Raciel was able to quickly identify the issue with a few texted photos and short phone call, fit us in the next day at 9 am, showed up with his wife exactly on time (literally, the doorbell rang at 9:00 on the dot), and even though it took him a little more than an hour, they only charged us for an hour.  And the constant drip drip drip is now stopped.  Did they have to go to the store to buy the new cartridge? Yes.  But they took the old broken cartridge with him to match it to the new one, which I appreciated.  Were my husband and I technically savvy enough to know how to access the shower cartridge, we could have probably saved us some time by buying a replacement online.  But that's the point -- we didn't know how to access it and hadn't installed the shower ourselves (it was present when we bought the house) so didn't know the brand or type we would need.  Very satisfied customer and would happily use them again.

Very quick response for a toilet tank issue. Arrived later that morning and fixed the issue quickly. Very nice as well!

Brookland were nice people, but seem to struggle as a plumbing organization. Their biggest problem is that they seem to never to have any parts on hand (mine was for Moen, so not some random obscure stuff). So every time there was a parts issue, they needed to run to the hardware store - taking time and effort.

In my case, they weren't able to solve my plumbing issue, and still charged me. They had return appointment arranged, but I randomly bumped into a Master Plumber who checked their work and found that Brookland apparently botched the installation in a manner that clogged the parts - making it malfunction.

The Master Plumber was a dream because he had every single part on hand with him.

I unfortunately already paid them 400 dollars (under pressure from them) despite being left a broken system.

Bottom line - simple stuff, I'm sure they will be fine. They definitely have the capability to do the hard stuff, but maybe not do it well. Oh and they will be going around looking for parts since having stuff on hand doesn't seem to be what they are good at.

Fast, fair, and knowledgeable about older DC houses! Latinx husband & wife team. Very responsive by phone. Pay them by check. (Credit card companies charge small businesses too much anyway IMO.)

I'm not sure this business is still open. I called a couple of times yesterday and today, but the outgoing voicemail greeting is from March 2020 (saying they won't be available the last two weeks of March, presumably due to the pandemic, which had just hit at that time), and the voicemail mailbox is full, so I couldn't leave a message. It's too bad, as we had them do some work for us a few years ago and were happy with it.

In the last 3 years of trying to get service from Brookland Plumbing for my rental they have never been able to respond in time.  I'm not sure why I keep trying but this latest attempt I decided to give them another shot.  As expected, they were 2 1/2 weeks booked.  I booked them regardless.  I had to request to postpone my appointment the night before the appointment due to a serious illness.  I get a response a few days later saying they are booked for the foreseeable future, please find someone else.

Awesome company! Brookland Plumbing is a family run business, operated by husband/wife team Raciel and Eileen. Eileen handled the scheduling; I submitted a request on a Saturday, and she got me scheduled for an appointment first thing Monday morning.

Raciel and his son Lucas came to inspect a leak in our ceiling, and determined it was coming from the outside and wasn't a plumbing issue. But since they were here, they repaired 3 running toilets to fill up their hour appointment.

Eileen was a pleasure to work with on the phone. Raciel was smart and professional. And Lucas was eager and bright. Highly recommend Brookland Plumbing!

I will absolutely be ringing them up for all my heavy duty plumbing needs in the future and you should too!!!

Full disclosure I have not had my apartment serviced yet by Brookland Plumbing. That being said Eileen was such a refreshing delight on the phone! Not only was she very personable but she was able to offer me the lowest hourly price of anyone I spoke to about the repair. She was also very honest with me about what my best options were. As a non-handy person having an expert who isn't trying to exploit my lack of knowledge for profit means everything!

I really like Racial and his wife. They are a great team, explain what they do well, and work efficiently. (They did two jobs for me -- replacing my interior water main pipe and replacing my water heater.) Very highly recommend them.

We recently had to replace our (21 year old!) water heater and were so happy with Brookland Plumbing's service.  

They were responsive by phone and text, asked for pictures to see if they could do a repair instead of a replacement, and walked me through what the costs would be and what I could do to save costs (such as pick up the water heater myself).  They also had me measure to make sure my heater would fit in before they got there with it.  

They were flexible with our crazy schedule and were able to complete the work in about 2.5 hours.  The installation crew was friendly, polite, and efficient. The prices were as quoted and substantially lower than the estimate from a competitor.  

I was very happy with the whole experience and will definitely call them for my plumbing needs in the future!!

Service was great, prompt and fair. They addressed my immediate issue that I had with a leaky tub and also let me know what work needed to be done in the future to fix the full issue as it was more with the old tile that needed to be replaced than with the plumbing. Would use them again for sure.

Raciel is a genuinely good person.  I thoroughly enjoyed meeting him.  He fixed my leaking kitchen sink drain in about a minute and gave me some excellent advice on a couple other issues.  He is knowledgeable and professional.  I highly recommend him.

Brookland was unbelievably responsive and helpful. They replied online to my Yelp request for a quote very quickly (3 other firms ignored me), contacted me by phone very soon after I gave them my number, gave me helpful info via text message (to help me buy the correct replacement parts in advance of the visit--I sent them pix from Home Depot and they confirmed that I had selected the right parts). I was actually happy that they had me get the parts myself--I could be confident that there would be no delay due to the plumber having to go somewhere for them.

They scheduled me for first thing the next day (wow), showed up on time, did the work professionally, and left me feeling great about using them again and recommending them to others.

LOL -- A plumber who doesn't unclog drains!  (Seriously -- that's what their voice-mail says.)  Needless to say, I've had to look elsewhere, even though these seem like nice folks who live just a few miles from my house.

Brookland Plumbing executed the job of installing my kitchen sink faucet quickly and professionally.  The price was very reasonable and the gentleman (forgot to get his name) was prompt and courteous.  I WILL use him for anything that needs to be done outside of my home warranty.  If you are reading this review you have found a plumber.

My toilet has been making running water noises for months even though it flushed fine, there was no visible leaking, and the toilet bowl wasn't running.

Finally, I decided to do something about it and called Brookland Plumbing on the advice of my landlord.

I forgot the woman's name who answers the phone but she is the wife of the plumber who fixed everything. She was super sweet and accommodating; we chatted a few times to arrange a time and go over some logistics, and she was able to schedule a time when her husband could come within 48 hours!

On our phone conversations, she told me they charge by the time worked and the cost of materials, which I knew to be typical. There is a minimum one hour service charge and the rate is $135/hour. They go by 30 minute increments. She gave me a window of when to expect her husband this morning (9:30 - 11:30 am). Over our conversations, all she had was my name, address, and phone number. We didn't exchange billing information, but before her husband and father in law left, I wrote them a check.

She called a few minutes after 11:30 this morning to tell me the guys were having trouble with parking so I went downstairs to inquire about contractor parking. When I called her husband, Raciel, he told me he had found parking and asked me to meet him downstairs in three minutes.

Raciel and his father came up and asked whether they should remove their shoes. I said if it wasn't too much trouble, that would be great. They replaced the fill valve and flapper and charged $28 and $11 for the parts so my bill came out to $179 for six minutes worth of work.

Raciel said he felt bad and asked if there was anything else they could help with. He said he didn't feel right charging so much for a simple job, but hey, I understand, some jobs are easier than others, and unfortunately, I didn't know what to do since the noise was bothering me.

I just checked Home Depot's website and from what I can recall, the fill valve is less than $12 on the website and the flapper is less than $6...

Anyway, highly efficient and friendly service. Raciel shook my hand as I walked him and his father out. They brought all the supplies and tools necessary, which is slightly making me reconsider if it was an obvious problem with an obvious solution or a solution they were trying to fit into the problem. In any case, it was quick and effective, and I can go back to quiet, water circulating-less nights.

This company was responsive and arrived promptly to fix a simple leak but they don't take credit or debit cards.  It's 2020-really???

I had Brookland Plumbing come out to look at an issue with a toilet and a few smaller items.  They took care of everything very quickly and professionally.  The quality of the work was excellent and they were very clear about the issues they fixed and provided me some helpful tips for the future.  They clearly knew their stuff and they will be my first call for future plumbing needs.

I didn't end up needing to use Brookland Plumbing, but I called when I first moved into a new condo with a couple plumbing problems. It's a husband/wife team and she called right away to talk me through what was going on and what parts I would need to fix the problem. Her patience and explanation was invaluable! Definitely support this business if you can -- you won't regret it. Service is top notch.

Brookland Plumbing took great care from my first inquiry to responding within 24 hours to my request for help with a leaking toilet and faulty shower handle. Great to know there is a quality small business in my neighborhood for any future needs.

They were great- honest, responsive via text and phone, and very clear upfront about costs, scheduling, explaining exactly what they'd need to do, etc.  They did a great job replacing a sink in my bathroom, and we'll definitely call them again next time we have a plumbing issue.

I've used Brookland Plumbing before and they are soooo great.  Affordable, friendly and prompt.  

So, when my pipes froze during this last cold snap and I called them, Eileen VERY patiently talked me through what I needed to do to defrost my pipes.  

Two days later, my washing machine flooded my back room.  I again called Eileen who asked me to send some photos.  Raciel looked at the pictures and diagnosed my problem ACCURATELY without having to come to my house, thereby saving me the cost of a visit.

Not only are they a GREAT business, they are GREAT human beings.  I don't know many business owners who would go above and beyond to help their customers avoid unnecessary costs!!

They came and replaced a disposal for me and it was a tight squeeze. So friendly and great to support a local family business! Father and Son working together and they were awesome. I will definitely use them again for all my plumbing needs in the city.

I had a leak under my sink. They were able to come out the next day of my call and came within the time frame. Overall, it took about 45 mins to fix. They did a great job and are really nice -- showed me exactly what was wrong, what needed to be replaced, and showed me the work once they were down. I also really liked that they were a local father and son team.

The only slight negative is that it sometimes takes a while for them to return your call. Luckily for us it wasn't an emergency. Overall, very nice people and they fixed the issue I was having.

I was very happy with Brookland Plumbing. They were responsive, professional, timely, efficient and cost effective. I needed to have the shut off values and supply lines replaced in my bathroom and Raciel did a nice job. I know exactly who to contact if I have future plumbing needs.

We've hired Brookland twice -- once to fix a leak and a second time to install a hose bib in our backyard. I would recommend them 100% for excellent, efficient work.

Super honest and reliable and visited the house several times to figure out the problem and suggested how to fix it at the most convenient and cost effective way.  He tried to save me money.  While here, he fixed 3 other minor issues, as well.

A scheduling issue resulted in an accidental no-show, but the business handled it well and got us rescheduled for later in the week. Despite the dicey start, we ended up being very pleased with their work and their work ethic. Thank you, Brookland Plumbing.

They were able to help me diagnose my plumbing problem over the phone, get the part prior to his arrival, and booked quickly. When he came he fixed our leaky shower handle so fast we had time for him to look at a toilet problem and and fix that too! In less than an hour.  Knowledgeable, honest, efficient and great value. I would give more stars if I could.

A professional and honest husband and wife team with upfront pricing.  They charge by the hour and encourage you to get them to look at all of your plumbing problems to take advantage of that time. They fixed my two toilets, replaced my garbage disposal, and replaced my kitchen faucet. Great every time.

Could not be more impressed with this business. I called because I was having an issue with the water hose feeding into my refrigerator. A woman called me back within a few hours (I think she is the wife of the plumber/owner), but I learned they don't service my location. Nonetheless, she offered to talk to the plumber/owner about my issue and give me guidance on how to proceed. She got back to me that same day letting me know the nature of the repair needed to ensure I didn't get over charged by someone else. There was nothing in it for them - they just wanted to help. What great customer service (even for non-customers). In the process, she did share their rates with me and they were definitely lower than other people I had called. Highly recommend.

Receptionist taking the call was friendly, nice enough.. but because we couldn't guarantee a parking space when they arrived, they passed on our job. Are you kidding me? THIS IS DC.. I can't guarantee that I can find a parking space when I get home. Good for them that they can cherry pick jobs this way. I'm kinda at a loss. If you want guaranteed parking at a job site.. maybe you shouldn't be working in DC.

Brookland Plumbing were incredible in helping me work through an incredibly tricky plumbing situation. Ultimately, the complexity of the job meant working together on this job wasn't the right fit, but I've found my DC plumber for jobs that fit in their small company focus moving forward. I was so impressed by their integrity, customer service and dedication to high quality work at a fair price. After interviewing a number of area plumbers throughout this process, I can say they stood in a class by themselves.

Support your local small businesses! This is a husband-and-wife team. Eileen is friendly and an excellent communicator. She encouraged me to text pictures so they could diagnose the problem before Raciel arrived. Raciel is also friendly, prompt, and efficient. He examined and repaired three toilets in less than an hour. I highly recommend them.

Excellent local team & I highly recommend them for quality, efficient work. They answered my call promptly and installed a kitchen sink for us and easily fixed a leaky toilet that another plumber messed up. They are also rigorously honest. Once I called asking them about a potential leak & they told me that it was likely a caulking problem that could be fixed by a contractor or handyman with much less expense than hiring a plumber. I totally trust these guys (it's a small, family business) and would hire them for any job. They are honest and do quality work. The woman who answers the phones is the wife of the plumber & she's great - she will answer questions and was even able to give an estimate of how long the job might take, etc. So glad to have found this business!

We have an older house and needed a few different plumbing jobs done.  Firstly we had an iron main drain pipe that had cracked and needed to be replaced.  The second job was to replace our toilet.  Unfortunately, our relatively straight forward job quickly turned bigger than expected when it was discovered that most of the main drain pipe had weakened and needed to be replace than was first thought.  We also discovered that a good bit of the subfloor under the toilet also needed to be replaced.  Fortunately, the Brookland plumbing team took it all in stride and made sure that everything was fixed and put to rights before leaving.  Naturally, these hiccups took longer to remedy than was expected which, much to their scheduler's chagrin, caused them to fall behind on getting to their other customers that day.  My wife and I truly appreciated the care, professionalism and expertise that Brookland displayed in helping us that day.  To anyone that asks me, they are the first I would recommend.

These guys like to advertise that they respond in 2 hours. I called them for a job, they said they would check and get back to me, and never did.
