My plumber Tom was excellent.  He was on time, professional, and very clean (he put on shoe covers and did not leave a mess).  He thoroughly explained the process to me, diagnosed the problem quickly, quoted a fair price, and fixed the problem swiftly.  He also taught me how to turn off the water shut off for the house and tagged it so I can find it in the future.  He checked my water heater and gave me a coupon if it breaks (it is old). He was polite and clearly explained the reason for my kitchen leak in a way I could understand.  Before he arrived the office called to tell me his eta which was nice.  I would highly recommend this company and will use them again.  Thanks Tom!

Don't bother with Best Choice Plumbers. They are too busy to take on any new jobs. Contacting them is a waste of time.

They redid the plumbing in my house, and were did fine. Although they were quite expensive. But when it came time to tie in a new washer to the pipes they had previously installed, they were too busy with service to schedule it for ANYTIME in the future.

Not sure why they're still advertising if they're too busy to take on work, but there it is.

SCAM PRICING!!! Extremely overpriced and when we decided to get other quotes they hit us with an inspection fee of $217... Just for being there for 15 mins and taking the toilet off.

I had previously took the toilet off and replaced the wax seal but was still having issues. I thought I would just have to pay the estimate pricing $79 which is already ridiculous but apparently if they actually touch your toilet its not an estimate it's an inspection. I would have taken the toilet off again for him if I knew they would charge a ridiculous amount for it.

Don't get scammed and go somewhere else! .

Best Choice Plumbers Should be called WORST CHOICE PLUMBERS! Like others pointed out, Heidi is a con artist and scammer. A salesperson at the Ace Hardware in Bethesda recommended Best Choice. I have been pleased with the service of another plumber but thought I would the company a try to fix a clogged sink drain and repair a kit in a toilet.

Heidi was charming on the phone--that's it. The plumber arrived and gave me two OUTRAGEOUS prices to fix the above issues. The first was about $565 and the other was almost $900. I laughed at him, asking him if he was serious. He explained that he doesn't set the  prices and I could call the owner, which I did. Miss Heidi said that those were her usual prices, blah, blah, blah, the company was listened and bonded, employees were drug tested. Have no idea what this has to do with the topic at hand. Moreover, I feel sorry for customers being taken to the cleaners by Heidi.

I told her that I have never paid a plumber that amount of money for simple issues and her prices were more than twice what I normally pay plumbers. I declined her service and told her that I would NEVER contact her again but was forced to pay her OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH CALL FEE OF $98.

Needless to say, my usual plumber came the next day and charged me $199 to pull a hairy clog mass out of a bathroom sink then repair the kit in the basement toilet.

The end.

If you don't care to read the whole review, I can summarize this company as follows: This company is the equivalent of a shady used car salesman. BUYER BEWARE.

The company deserves a few stars for being polite and professional on the phone, showing up on time and being courteous/professional in person.

BUT....that's where the goodness STOPS.

I had a significant leak from where my garbage disposal and drain line connect. Lady on the phone assured me that their trucks are fully stocked to handle all sorts of issues. Sounded good. HOWEVER, when the plumber showed up, the song and dance started. The trucks are fully stocked...but only if you have a badger series garbage disposal installed. Since mine was not a badger series, they would have to go search for the part I needed and if they happen to find it, they would have to come back to install it.

But wait, it GETS BETTER. The song and dance flows into the up-sell pitch for an OVERPRICED job. It goes a little something like this: Well, even if we do find the part, it's only a 50/50 shot that the leak will be repaired and won't start again in a few months as there is a metal bracket behind the leaking seal and it might force the new seal to fail. We do have some other options for you though. Option 1 is $481 to install a new 1/2 HP disposal (2 year warranty). Option 2 is $602 to install a new 3/4 HP disposal (6 year warranty) and Option 3 is $892 to install a new 1 HP disposal (12 year warranty). Then the plumber collected the required $50 fee for the visit and left.

A 1/2 HP disposal can be had from Home Depot for around $100. A 3/4 HP disposal is between $150-$220 depending how fancy you want to go. A 1 HP disposal is about $280. You can do the math on how much this company is charging for labor to install these disposals...a job that is done in 1 hour or less.

Oh and the part the plumber said he would have to search for...yeah, I called the 800 number on the disposal and they offered to send me the part for free (although I would need to wait 7 days for it) or I can get it from any plumbing supply store for about $6. And there is NO METAL BRACKET behind the seal, as the plumber claimed there was when he was at my house.

I really wanted to be wrong about this company so I called them and asked if I supply a disposal, how much will they charge to install it for me? Without skipping a beat, the lady says, $300.

This level of outrageous caught me off guard. The lady proceeded to pitch me on the company being licensed and insured. That I'm buying a company with a warranty, not just a job. Blah, blah, blah.

Hey, lawyer and doctors are licensed and insured...and most don't charge $300 per hour!

Heidi is a scamer. I needed to have a dishwasher and garbage disposal installed. I asked her if she could give me some sort of idea what it would cost before she sent someone for $79 and she told me it was impossible to estimate because the situation was unknown. Now I don't know how many surprises can come up over this simple installation but the installation only no parts was $1170. It is sad to think how the elderly and disabled are treated by this woman that have no idea or need work done immediately. Heidi will sweet talk you while she's padding your bill.

Usually i take the negative feedback from yelp with a grain of salt as most people are have their own idiosyncrasies that push their buttons.

However, this company has managed to live up to all of their reputation flawlessly!

1) Heidi! Their self proclaimed owner as many other reviews have stated is the epitome of poor customer service! She is demeaning, condescending, and plain out rude! She belittles you when she uses plumber jargon that most lay people would ask for clarification and makes you feel like you are incompetent. Please Heidi don't write this off as yet another unhappy customer, but rather a means to grow as an individual.

2) scam! I understand an estimate is exactly as it's stated, AN ESTIMATE! I get it, looking at pictures alone may not be enough and you need an in person assessment (although not true as many other plumbers do it! They just request several pictures of the specific things they would be looking at in person anyways) but if the world of medicine can shift towards telemedicine and using FaceTime as a means of diagnosis, why is this an unreasonable request for something not nearly as high stakes. This just proves it's yet another way for them to squeeze out 80 bucks from you!

3) cheating and lying! I have been in the market for replacing my water heater preemptively and have been calling around for quotes for a few months. I spoke to Heidi a few weeks ago and she stated that they are currently having a deal of 100 dollars off water heaters and that normally it's 1336 but right now it will be only 1226!. Little does Heidi know i spoke to her two months ago prior to this deal (mind you she was just as rude back then too!) and she quoted me a price of 1225! So in actuality the 100 dollars off = 1 dollar more! If that isn't lying and cheating their customers i dont know what is!

Long story short save your time and money for someone else like Payless pluming

A disregard for our circumstances as this company acquired our information when the previous plumbing company we used went out of business. Overpriced. And Heidi was quite rude concerning our situation with me and was rude when speaking to my son. She has no customer based approach to handle individual situations. I'm sorry that we had our information was forwarded to this company and while enduring the last days of my husbands life, I didn't need to experience such treatment and lack of compassion.
I would never recommend them.

Buyer beware
Had Best Choice Plumbers come to house to give estimate to replace 8 spread faucet in bathroom that I bought. Their technician Tom looked at job for two minutes then went to his truck to write up estimate. Estimate provided for labor is $494 less $50 discount for $444. What a ripoff, this is why they have $79 fee to come to quote job.

I had already purchased the toilet, the sink, the faucet, the connections, the wax ring, the valves, etc.  All I needed to pay for was labor to install.
I knew it was no more than 3 hours of work; this is not my first renovation.  And they told me it would cost over $2100.  Plumbers get $75 an hour and they wanted $700 SEVEN HUNDRED dollars an hour.  The guy tried to tell me I didn't know anything and tried to tell me it was an all day job.  Should have known it was a scam when they refused to give me information on the phone.  And they demand $79 to come in and scam you. Call a local independent plumber.  You'll save hundreds if not thousands of $.

Never in my life have I ever dealt with such an unprofessional company.  The receptionist is rude, appointments get rescheduled and the plumber himself was horrible.

Our pipe burst on a Monday, they came out Tuesday to turn the water off and because it was so late, we agreed that they could come back to fix it but they couldn't come back until Thursday.  Thursday comes but they cancel our appointment because other people have burst pipes.  Well, that's why we called in the first place so our call should still have priority.  Our appointment was moved to Monday.  On Monday, we had an emergency come up so we had to reschedule.  We were told that that may be a problem because our landlord may get mad.  Well, if they were so worried about that, they shouldn't have moved us to Monday as it was.  Now, granted there was icy situations on Tuesday, but we never received a call saying the plumber was going to be late so my husband called to find out where he was, the receptionist said the plumber was on his way.  1 1/2 hours later, he shows up.  We never received a follow up call to tell us how late.

The plumber shows up, smelling like alcohol, and proceeds to replace the broken pipe. When he finishes, he tells me the pipe is still frozen so it could break again but he fixed the broken section.  I would have thought that he would have thawed the pipe but I don't know the protocol in this situation so I wont be mad at that.  He leaves.

I go to use the bathroom and there is no cold water at all.  I call the receptionist and ask for someone to come out.  As I am asking for her to call me to let me know that he is definitely coming, she hangs up on me in mid sentence.

Plumber shows up and long story short, argues with me repeatedly in front of my children that we turned the water off, which, we did not.  He goes back and forth between up and downstairs and then proclaims the pipes are frozen.  I don't know how because the water was working up until the moment he arrived.  But then he went back to his story that we turned off the pipes.  After that, he told me I need to ask my husband if he did it.  Don't know how he could have since my husband left before he did.

As he was pulling away from fixing that, I went to check and there was nothing coming out of the tub so I had to chase him down before he left again.  He told me if he had to investigate why we had no water, we would be billed.  Which is not happening since we had water until the moment he arrived.  At this point, he comes back through to leave and his exact statement in front of my children was You have to pull the handle out God damn.

Now, I have no problem saying that after all of this arguing with me, telling me basically that I'm lying and then stomping around saying he didn't do anything to the water, and then cussing at me that I told him to get out of my house in not the nicest way.

I'd like to add that he was standing there with my husband when the water was turned off so he could fix the pipe.  I mean how else can you fix a pipe that has water in it.  The problem is 1. He forgot that he was there when the water was turned off 2. He accused us of doing it after he left which wasn't true.  So obviously, he never checked the pipe to see if it works because the water wasn't turned on to do it.  He also didn't check the bathroom to see if there was water.

TL:DR version  The staff are rude, the work rushed and unreliable.  Never in my life will I use these people again.

Tom did a great job in clearing my drains.  But 628$ for a couple of hours work is outrageous... even with the 50$ discount.  I was in a bind, so agreed to the work, but never again for that kind of price. I thought they were Gaithersburg Plumbing (recommended to me by someone from WSSC)... doing business under an additional name.  I should have known better, and you can do better.

I called the company because they are close to my house. They charged me $49 to come out but I was given an estimate of $279 to replace a rubber seal that cost $7. See link for cost of seal in question:

build.com/kohler-gp10592…!

But unknown to them I had received an estimate of $85 from another company for the same service. So I declined their service and gave the plumber a $100 bill so I can pay the $49 trip fee but he did not have change and he agreed to mail me a bill so I can pay with a cashiers check because I was unwilling to have him right down my credit card number on a paper, only to receive a call around 7:55AM the next day from the owner asking me to pay the $49 over the phone after telling them the previous day I wasn't comfortable giving them my card information.

They also refused to give me an itemization of cost. They refused to break down the cost I guess so I wouldn't know the part only cost $7. They also lied that it had to be custom ordered and the other company confirmed that it is sold in Home depot. Anyway the other plumber came the next day and spent less than 5 minutes to replace the seal and I paid $85.

To cut the long story short I went to their office to pay the $49 service charge in cash. Compare prices if you have to use this company.

NB: Their plumber was polite.

I really wished I had read other reviews before I contacted this horrible excuse for a place.
I called this place on a Saturday morning when I noticed some damp clothes in the downstairs closet, and a running downstairs toilet.

When I called, the lady said they could have someone out that afternoon - which should have been my first clue.  Most busy companies don't have immediate openings - especially not for a Saturday.  When I asked how long it would take, they tried to make a million excuses about how I was being too demanding about my time schedule.  Mind you, I was already halfway out the door to go on Military duty when I discovered these issues, and thought it best to take care of them before I left.
Anyway, the guy comes, and doesn't even introduce himself.  We start talking and I told him about the problems.  He goes to look at the closet, and tells me that he could knock out the entire ceiling for a substantial fee, but that he couldn't fix it because they don't do drywall.  Fine.  I ask what he thinks it is, and he kept trying to sell the ceiling knockout.  I understand he didn't get in there, but if you're any halfway decent plumber, you should have SOME idea of what's going on, and how to advise.  Nope, not this guy.
Next he went to the bathroom.  I explained the issue, and he told me he would have to rebuild the toilet for a total of $316.  Again, I was running late, and had to get on the road to my duty station.  I felt like I was backed into a corner, and signed the paper telling him, just do what you gotta do.  To my surprise, he was done in under 15 minutes.  I looked at him and asked him why it was so quick.  His response was that there were 3 parts that needed to be replaced.  I asked him what they were, and I was shocked.  I literally could have done the repair myself for under $50 for all three parts.
I tried to talk to the guy, and he just kept saying... you signed the paper.  I asked if he thought it was crazy.  He didn't do a rebuild - he did a simple fix.  Basically, I was extremely overcharged.
What was even worse was what happened when I called the company to express my concern.  I spoke to a woman who said she was the owner, and I tried to convey my concerns.  The only thing she could say was, you signed the paper authorizing the work, so we did the work.  So basically, they took advantage of a military member, and didn't even try to care.  Extremely rude, unprofessional, and overpriced.  I will NEVER use this company again!!!!

They basically run a used car scam, the guy shows up, does a quick review and then goes back to his car to call the boss, without you hearing the conversation. Then he tells you the cost, which is EXTREMELY expensive, and says I am on your side, I will see what I can do, calls again,  and drops the price from outrageous to very high. Didn't work for me, tossed them out and called another company and got a better deal at less than half he price.Still got stiffed for $80 bucks while they ran a con on me.

Personally I would love to give this business 5 stars but, Heidi would be the downfall. I found his establishment through the Montgomery County Referral Guidebook (p.61), based of the high reviews I figured let's give them a try; they even have same day service. Upon calling (shower faucet needed to be replaced) I had the honor of speaking with Heidi. When asked about pricing, Heidi stated, She would call me back when someone was available. A hour later she called informing me someone would be out shortly. When asked for a price and breakdown, Heidi stated, both are on the invoice you recieved I asked her why does she feel the need to be condescending... of course she believed she wasn't . from there I hung up.
Justin would be the ONLY reason to return. He was outstanding, very knowledgeable and friendly. He even called Heidi in an attempt to obtain an invoice. Heidi confirmed she would be emailing the invoice.
(With my card being on file, it's vital to know what my price and what that entails).
Time passes still no email. I called and spoke with Heidi (this being the third time), when asked for a break down of my total she said, there's a break down on the invoice I really don't know what you want from me. The only numbers on my invoice (outside of my personal information) is a total price. Did I pay $300 for labor, or was it for the faucet I provide?

Justin was outstanding (5 stars), but Heidi needs a refresher course in customer service and knowledge of what an invoice intels (0 stars). I WILL NOT BE A RETURNING CUSTOMER. My Plumber Heating and Cooling will have my future business.

We had previously dealt with Best Choice for a water heater and furnace installation and were very pleased with their services.  We called them about a problem with our master bedroom toilet. We paid a $69 service charge and they recommended toilet rebuild for $400 then later dropped price to $325.  My husband spoke with a family friend about our issue and he told him only needed to replace a gasket which he brought from Lowe's for $7 and problem resolved.  Called them back and they seemed so unconcerned and I do not plan to use them in the future

Shop around as this plumbing service can cost you double the price then other companies.  Don't have them come out to your house to give an estimate, because they will charge a $79 service charge if no work is performed on that day.  Which they were not upfront about before coming out.  The job was done well in the end, but I felt a lot of remorse over the final cost of the job.

Shockingly rude receptionist.  I have an extensive amount of work needing doing on my property (snaking the drains, retrofitting of a backflow preventer, maintenance of a sump-pump, and possible enlarging of a back door drain).  I was asking simple questions, and I was spoken to so rudely - [paraphrasing] you're not a plumber, you can't speak to a plumber about what you need, we need to charge you $89 and have a full truck to come out there  I tried to explain that this was a lot of work so I was in process of getting 2-3 quotes, so I at least wanted to speak to someone first before I spent any money. The whole experience was very hostile.  It's a shame, because I likely would have chosen this company (one of their plumbers, Jeromy, recommended them to me).

They wanted to repair 10-12 ft of piping at $1,800 when all I needed was 2 feet  that I got repaired for $275....The owner who was so sweet at first, turned very ugly when I refused their service. She never gave me the chance to ask why I could not get a quote for just the 2 feet. I was happy to pay the visit fee of $70 to get them out of my house.

Top notch company.I had the privilege of meeting Gary R. when I was in need of a plumber. Gary was very polite and professional from the moment he stepped through the door.He explained everything that was done and took the time to even show me.He gave me a high end price and a low one.Of course I figured I would be paying the higher of the two but was pleasantly surprised when I was told he could do the job for the lower after inspecting it.HONEST!! You don't see much of that these days.I would give Gary R a higher rating if possible.I definitely know who I will be calling whenever in need of my plumbing needs. And so should you.You won't be disappointed.Go ahead and give them a call.

I am disappointed that I have to write this negative review since we have had excellent experience with Best Choice in the past. But our latest interaction left us displeased with the quality of the work, with dirty carpet, splattered sewage, and a gash in our window sill. The technician did persevere and eventually cleared our main line, but only after suggesting we need new pipes and that he could not clear the line. It is fortunate we kept questioning his initial assessment. Also, we now have some stains on brand new carpet replaced after our last sewer line backup. He was not nearly as clean as our last technician. If he needed more protection for our floors, etc, i would have hoped he knew that. Instead we now have stains on brand new carpet. It was not worth the high cost.

Outside valve and inside valve water cut off valve  would not cut off.  Heidi called to let me know he was on the way, Jeremy arrived quickly, assessed the problem and gave me a price.  No pressure . prices were within reason.  He did a great job, very pleasant person, , no mess, good customer service. A very slick operation but I was very unsatisfied with their performance to the point that I felt I had been scammed.  Told me I needed to replace 20 yr old pressure tank. Not worth trying to to fix it Tim said.  Cost quote: nearly $1700 (Max $600 in parts one hour job my guess).  Paid the $69 call fee and said I would get a second opinion.  Second opinion: pressure tank 4yo in good condition replace pressure gauge and tee. Cost $200.  Buyer Beware!

Our water heater stopped working without warning, so we called Best Choice on a Thursday night and left a message. Diane called us back in ten minutes and set us up with Tim Rooney for an appointment the next morning. We were really impressed with Tim. He was straightforward, very knowledgeable, and clearly extremely experienced. Tim communicated very clearly what the problem was, and what our options were. He was prepared to replace the water heater that very day, but after researching it, Tim found that it would be available, instead, on the next day, Saturday. (The water heater was not a standard size and not easily available.) So, the next morning, Tim arrived and installed the new water heater in exactly the amount of time he said it would take to do the job. I really recommend Best Choice for the extraordinary customer service, good communication, and friendliness. Tim was outstanding and very comfortable to work with. He made it all a very positive experience. (This was the first plumbing job we had ever had done, and so we were pleased to have chosen Best Choice Plumbers from the Montgomery County, MD, Five Star Rated Referral Guide Book.) Five stars indeed.

I was disappointed with Best Choice Plumbers.  When I called in, I was told they charge by the job and the job I described was small- reconnecting a sink drain plunger.  No parts were needed. It took the technician 3 minutes to do it.  I had a $50 coupon for service.  The technician who came in, Dave, quoted the job as $167 dollars.  When I questioned the by the job quote for service, he became belligerent and said he had already discounted the entire job.  I called the office and found out someone had forgotten to add the $50 coupon.  The job was discounted to $117.  Dave was rude, sarcastic and unpleasant to have in my home.  Charging $117 for a three minute job should be explained on the phone.  The sales pitch is misleading.  These charges are not by the job and include a flat service fee for the plumber to arrive.

Well unfortunately it will not allow me to give zero stars. I spoke with presuming who may have been the owner who at first was very nice and understanding and listening to what my needs were. However once finding out I was going to get another estimate they wanted to come in after somebody else. This is a old sales pitch technique just to get in a lower price then the other company. I explained if you were trying to compare apples to apples it really would not of mattered who came in first. As I would not reveal any price differences. Going on their concern was well what if we were priced $1000 more. Well then you certainly have overpriced the job. I explain the fact that their integrity and honesty about how they price jobs to be compatible to other companies was just not there to convince me to retain them as a company to do services for me. She then proceeded to say well we charge also $89 just to come out and take a look. Once I started to explain a question how their prices could be so different than everybody else's she no longer wanted me to be a customer of their company. They may be successful in praying on people who are unaware of how the sales tactics go on in this world.
