Are you having some problems with your pipes or plumbing? Abe's plumbing is a Class A plumbing business that only provides services performed by a Licensed Plumber. I am available for all of your plumbing needs. From clogged pipes, to full bathroom and kitchen plumbing services, repairs, fixture installation or replacement, I do it all. Not only am I a licensed master plumber but I am also a civil engineer, and a Class-A contractor, so the work that I do you can be confident that will be better than minimum code. Called first thing on a Monday morning. Explained clearly what probably had to happen. Told me the price up front. Showed me exactly what was wrong. The Yelpers are right -- Abe is the best plumber! Will definitely call again!!!

I called a few larger plumbers (Len the plumber, roto-rooter) to get a quote for fixing my jammed garbage disposal. Then saw Abe's 148 (now 149) five star reviews and gave a ring. He picked up immediately, at 7:30pm, and whereas the others were going to charge $50 to send someone out just to provide a quote, his first question was 'do you have an Allen wrench?'. Fortunately I did, and he just talked me through the simple fix for the jammed disposal. Amazing! What quality customer service - I will always, and only ever, use Abe in the future. Believe the rating.

I called multiple plumbers for quotes and Abe is the most reliable, trustworthy and dependable plumber out there. He is very responsive, helpful, reasonably priced and does excellent work. He even went to Home Depot  to look for a better-looking shower head for me. He was able to get the job done quickly and efficiently. He changed the faucet in my kitchen and was honest and said it was repairable, but gave me the option of a new one. I would highly recommend him for any job because I'm confident he can get any job done.

This guy is like the Soup Nazi of plumbing.  He can be pretty harsh, but he's the best there is.  I called him to install a part of a pipe for me.  He did the job but informed me that I would have to snake the pipe for the best results.  I told him I'd look into it and he looked at me like I was crazy.  He asked, do you have a tool to do it?  I informed him that I would look into do it.  As he was leaving, he took some time to show me how to properly snake a drain once I bought the tool.  Then he, all of sudden, decided he couldn't allow me to incompetently fix my own drain.  We went back up and did the work for free.  Best plumbing experience I've had.

I can't tell if it's Abe's Plumbing or this overpriced area. But I got charged $700 to replace a bathroom leaky faucet and a one-sided leaky bathtub faucet. Hmmm... don't get me wrong, Abe made quick work of the issue and knocked out both leaks in about an hour. But I just feel like it was too expensive. Otherwise, I do feel good about his work.

Great service! Abe fixed a toilet that's been running and bothering me for months! He came during the time that he promised and was very nice and courteous.  He also explained everything to me so that I will be able to fix the toilet in the future myself if the same issue occurred.  I would definitely recommend Abe for your plumbing needs.

Abe fixes ALL of our plumbing issues. He's the only one we call bcs we know he will get the job done at a fair cost. He has installed 2 new toilets, replaced our dishwasher hosing, replaced the plumbing inside our existing toilet, fixed leaking plumbing for the kitchen sink, installed a kitchen faucet, unclogged a tub drain and diagnosed strange noise coming from the piping. His suggestions are never to make a quick buck but rather to save you time and money. Also, he is reliable and fits you in as soon as possible especially if it's an emergency. Highly recommended!

Abe arrived promptly to fix our broken toilet. He even tried to coach me over the phone to save me the cost of a visit! He wore a mask and encouraged me to watch so I would know how to fix it myself next time. Nightly recommend Abe's Plumbing!

Very happy! Abe was able to come over the same day and fixed a drain issue that made us go without air conditioning for a few days in the upper '80s and also figured out a problem with our kitchen plumbing.  He was able to give me various options and pricing based on the solutions available, as well as recommendations for future work to modernize my older house and avoid further problems, all with no pressure or hard selling, just good advice. Fast work, friendly, respectful of out house and cats, left no mess. Would absolutely use again!

Abe did fantastic work! He really cares and takes pride in his work. He knows what he's doing and after fixing my plumbing issue, I completely trust him. He really wants to get it right the first time and he said that his work is 100% guaranteed, which is great. Abe will be my go-to plumber when my next plumbing issue arises.

Abe is the plumber because now that I know plumbing can be done as efficient, timely, and no hassling, he is the only plumber. Called on a Friday before he closed, got an estimate over the phone and said it would be Tuesday. I gave him some more details and he said he would call me if he had a cancellation. He called me back to work me in the same day. Was here within 15 minutes and completely fixed everything in an hour. I'm more impressed with his service and price than the big names. Call this guy, not the guy on the back of the truck!

Really happy I chose Abe when we had a clogged kitchen drain on a holiday weekend.  Made a call to Abe on Saturday morning and he was able to come fix the problem right away.  I really appreciated his excellent service and reasonable prices and he'll be the first person I call next time I need a plumber.

I know Mr. Abe has a great review & but added one more to his since he fixed our toilet problem without coming our place!!!

After a few days of battle with my condo management, I was told to bring a contractor for fix... So my husband & I wanted to ask the best guy, Mr. Abe.

After explaining the problem, he told me that what my facility management problem assessment was completely wrong & have me a tip where to look for the problem despite the fact that he is not servicing in DC (very nice!!!!)

In fact, Mr. Abe was right & I could easily fix the problem myself having extra money & headache of finding a contractor for fix!!!!

I wanted to share this since he's really nice at heart but don't do fake friendly act on you so I could imagine some may think he's not nice/rude but he's just a super professional :-) (and this reminds me of my dad generation in Japan or guy from Dream of Jiro Sushi!)

My husband and I woke up on a Sunday morning to find that after 60+ inches of rain this year, our sump pump had finally failed. I called Abe's Plumbing, fully expecting this to be a massive ordeal. Instead, we called at 7:34 AM and Abe had replaced our sump pump and was walking out the door by 9 AM! All for a reasonable cost. I am amazed and would highly recommend using his services in the future!

Just purchased a new washer/dryer and during installation found out my faucets were corroded over from not having the need to turn on/off. Called Abe, and he immediately responded by coming over the next day to repair the faucets. Took him about an hour to replace the faucets and even pointed out a couple of items that I should potentially look out for in regards to plumbing for my home. Abe made sure to clearly explain the repair process and the options I had. Cannot thank Abe enough for quickly coming over to replace my faucets and perform high quality work. Definitely recommend and his Yelp rating proves it.

We had a leak in our toilet and called Abe's Plumbing. He said that is a very simple fix that I can help you with on the phone no charge. You can go to home depot and ask for such and such and it will cost you $9. If I come out to fix it, it will be a minimum of $175.

We were obviously clueless and he very well could have come over and charged us the $175, so we really appreciate him being honest and saving us the hassle. Will definitely call him again and hope to give him some actual business someday!

We had a toilet clog and frozen pipe when we returned from a trip yesterday. I found Abe on Yelp and we figured we give him a try. Freezing temperatures and snow didn't make us optimistic. Well, we reached him just after he had a cancellation. It was not an easy job but Abe correctly diagnosed the clog right away. He found the frozen pipe pretty quickly too. I really like how he explained what happened and how to prevent s reoccurrence. Highly recommend

Abe was at my house twenty minutes after I called him to provide an expert consultation on my sump pump issue. He made recommendations not focused on making the most money himself but on how to actually fix the problem I was having. Very quick, very professional.

Called and asked for assistance. After explaining the problem to someone who was not paying attention to me, was told they do not work on condos.  Avoid this place at all costs. Not worth the time it took to place the call.

Abe was courteous on the phone when I called, if perhaps slightly brusque.  He was upfront, however, on his pricing which was $375 to install a garbage disposal (not including the price of the disposal).  I'm no expert, but this is an awfully high price.  I told him that I thought that it was high, and we said well . . . let me know.  I think that I will shop around instead.  (In case you were wondering, yep, I got it installed for $175).  To his credit, he was upfront about his pricing, but I have to say that I was surprised to see such high reviews on Yelp.  This service is relying on you not knowing what things cost, which really isn't what you should seek in a tradesman. It certainly does not, I believe, deserve five stars.

I will admit I was concerned about using someone available the same day, but did so on the basis of Abe's strong Yelp rating.  Glad I did.  He came promptly. He patiently and clearly explained our options on addressing a shower leak and quickly and efficiently installed a kitchen faucet (at less cost than the first plumber we called).  Good prices.

Awesome experience.  He called ahead of time to let me know when he would arrive, showed up when he said he would, and diagnosed my leak within 10 minutes or so.  Also very honest, as he recommended I replace the toilet myself instead of paying him to do it (because I'm a DIYer and it'd be cheaper that way).  This is his second time out and I'll definitely call him the next time something else in my house sprouts a leak!

Good service.  Abe arrived at our home less than 30min after we called him, found the source of the problem, quoted me on the cost to replace a pipe along with peripheral plumbing components, replaced the pipe and was a very peasant and professional individual.  He even gave me some tips regarding what I need to do if a similar problem ever occurs in any other house I own.  All in all, I had my plumbing issue fixed within 2 hours of calling him.

UPDATE: I was charged $325 to replace a 1 foot section of 2 pvc pipe in my basement.  Back when I knew nothing about plumbing, I was okay with this - but now that I am more experienced with plumbing work, I have to say this was quite an exorbitant charge for the 30min of work that was required to make the repair.

Abe was prompt, professional and diagnosed the issue (elbow copper pipe leak in the basement ceiling) Right away. In and out with the problem fixed in less than an hour and 15 minutes on Thanksgiving day!!!

Abe takes care of his customers. When he heard that the plumbing issue had immediately reappeared, he called me right away to make sure that I knew that all of his work is guaranteed. He came back immediately to fix the problem. I've never known of a plumber who will make himself available at any time, not just during his official hours, to ensure that customers get the plumbing help they need. Seeing how Abe not only makes himself immediately available, but follows through on all of his work with the same level of immediate results, means that there will never be a reason to ever call anyone but Abe.

I called Abe due to a toilet/drain clog at 4:00pm.  By 4:10pm he had called me back and by 4:20pm he had diagnosed the problem over the phone.  He was over by 4:40pm and he quickly dealt with our issue in 30 minutes before my family settled in for the evening.  I really appreciated his quick response, his adherence to COVID precautions, and his excellent work!

Garbage disposal in the sink clogged over the weekend, and we needed a seal replaced on the main floor bathroom toilet. I checked yelp, because we had a previous plumber we no longer wanted to use and didn't have a lead on anyone else. Called Abe this morning (Monday am), he answered the phone right away, asked all the important questions, showed up within an hour and a half (said he had a cancellation so he had time today), fixed everything super fast, was professional and to the point, cleaned up after he finished, and charged exactly what he said he would over the phone. Could you maybe find something a tiny bit cheaper? Maybe, maybe not, but I highly doubt you'd find anyone more professional, fast, no-nonsense and honest. I KNOW you could find someone more expensive who doesn't meet your needs, because we've used several of those. Will definitely call Abe again in the future, and if you're in a bind like I was, don't hesitate to give him a call yourself.

Called Abe on short notice and he was actually able to come out the same day but was also able to schedule for the next day for convenience. He was professional and listed options that we could pursue but was never pushy at all. Overall would recommend for your plumbing needs and we will have him back for further maintenance!

We discovered a big water leak in our basement on Saturday afternoon. We shut off our water main and had Fairfax County shut off the main water line from the street. We called several plumbers who were quoting us outrages prices ($$$$) to fix a worn washer on a pipe.

I looked on Yelp and found Abe because of his amazing reviews, so my husband called Abe on Sunday morning. He gave us an estimate over the phone that was very reasonable and said that he could come to our house within the hour. Abe diagnosed the problem and fixed it within a couple of hours.  

The service was great, he cleaned up after he was done and he even had a great Yelp deal! Abe was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He is definitely our go to plumber! Thanks Abe, you're an absolute life saver!

Called Abe Saturday morning with some questions about a leaking tub faucet. He knew exactly what the issue was over the phone and came over about 3 hours later to replace the cartridge.  Did a great job, kept my bathroom very clean and even walked me through the process step by step so I would be able to do it myself next time around.  Since I just moved into a new house, he was kind enough to walk around with me to point out things like my external water shut off and to make sure everything else was up to par.  Pricing was extremely fair considering it was a same day Saturday appointment as well. Very professional and even said I could call him in the future with an questions and he would try to walk me through it over the phone prior to coming out.  Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.

Had a great experience from start to finish with Abe's Plumbing this week. I highly recommend him.  When I texted him at 10pm, I got an immediate response.  We had a really difficult problem with a pipe behind a wall which he expertly located, diagnosed, and fixed.  It turned into a big job removing a sink, cutting out drywall, cutting 6 PVC pipes and replacing a big joint. His work was exceptional and thorough.  He was also upfront with the costs before he did any work, so no surprises at the end.

I called in a panic after we accidentally drilled through a pipe in our wall. They picked up immediately and helped us assess the issue, encouraging us to open up the wall ourselves to assess the situation and avoid a diagnostic fee. After that, while they offered to come out, they walked us through how we could make the repair on our own. They were patient and knowledgeable and we were able to fix the pipe on our own for less than $25 in parts. We know who to call when we have a plumbing issue again!

Abe will be my first call for all future work.  I found him cross referencing businesses that are highly rated across review sites.

I see why folks that work with him, review him so highly.

With the below freezing temperatures approaching I closed off the hose bib shutoff valves and opened the external faucets to drain the water.

Unfortunately I found out that the front faucet continued to leak.

After calling Abe and leaving a message, he responded quickly, offered a very fair quote, then was on site doing the work later that day.

He patiently explained what he was doing and what I needed to do to continue proper maintenance.

Thought my sump pump was broken. Called Abe who I had never done business with before. Received a call back in less than 5 minutes. He was able to guide me over the phone and at no cost to see if the pump was still working which it was. Saved him a trip and me money. Not often a plumber or any contractor, will help you over the phone for free. Really appreciated it.

I called Abe on a Monday morning at about 8:15 am regarding an issue with my sump pump. He couldn't talk, then so he asked me to text him some details about the issue.  He called back just before 9am, and stayed with me on the phone for about 15 minute to better identify how he could properly help when he came out. During the call he identified a low-cost way I could try to fix the issue myself.

I really appreciate his professionalism and candor. Will definitely call Abe for future plumbing concerns.

I called Abe at 9 am with a leak issue in my kitchen ceiling.  Abe was on another job, but asked me to text him my address and some details and he'd call me back.  He gave me the diagnostic price up front, which was steep, but I knew he'd have to cut into my ceiling, so away we went.  Fast forward about an hour and Abe calls me to tell me he's on his way.  Excellent!  Abe arrived in under an hour and a half from when I called, during a pandemic.  How much more can I ask?!  

When he arrived he had on a mask and went straight to work.  If there is one thing that I can say for Abe, he is efficient in all things.  He got right into the ceiling, knew all the questions to ask, and walked me through every step so that I knew what was happening.  After an hour of cutting, running up and down stairs, filling and un filling the tub, fixing pipes, tightening seals and a final snake for good measure, Abe was done and the leak was no more.

I assisted as much as I could, because time is precious for all of us.  Both my husband and I were working from home during this chaos and Abe had to field several calls during this fiasco as well.  We cleaned as we went so there was minimal mess after the fact.

I will confess, he is a bit pricier than I had hoped, but he was prompt, efficient, informative and direct.  These are traits I am more than willing to pay a bit extra for.  

I really wrote this review because at the end of all of this, Abe took a call as I was paying.  It was a gentleman who was having garbage disposal issues.  The first thing Abe said was, let me see if I can walk you through over the phone. You might not need me.  Any business that is willing to help, genuinely willing to help, gets a kudos from me.

Thank you Abe!!!  I will be keeping you in my phone for the next crisis :)

I had an appliance delivered from Lowes and it being my first purchase from Lowes I didn't know they don't install and haul. I read reviews and decided to call Abe, thinking answering service/voicemail was going to pick up... no, it was Abe on the phone... I was surprised for it was SUNDAY after 6pm, he came about an hour later!!! now, I never experienced this before, I usually have to plead with service tech/customer service agent to make the appointment as soon as possible and they would quote me travel and after hours and emergency rate but Abe took it in stride. I will call again.

I contacted Abe's Plumbing to get a price to repair a broken water main. I called a few other plumbers first and was quoted anywhere from $250 - $400. I sent Abe a picture of the problem and he told me that fixing it is so easy that I could do it myself.

He gave me a list of the parts to buy at Home Depot and even gave me step by step directions on how to do the repair, including a list of the common mistakes people make and how to avoid them.

I got the parts which cost $35 and it took me about 20 minutes to do the repair, and it was very easy like he said. I've never even attempted a repair on a water pipe before.

I don't know any plumber who does this. He easily saved me $350.

My wife and I woke up to a leaky shower faucet this morning (I had just replaced the HW valve eight days prior and it inexplicably started failing again just last evening).  Called Abe at 7:30 AM and he was here promptly at 9:45 AM with the proper materials to remove my 36-year-old, three-handle configuration and replace it with a new, one-handle tub & shower faucet.  

This was a potentially messy and dusty job, in that he needed to cut-through old shower tiles, but Abe and his helper did a great job -- minimizing the dust and cleaning-up the job site thoroughly.  Excellent soldering job -- obviously the work of a professional.  Dealt courteously with my wife throughout and stayed there until the job was done right -- at precisely the price he had quoted me before 8:00 AM.

We couldn't have been more pleased with the work, and I highly recommend Abe for your plumbing needs.

Abe is great! I noticed a leak under my kitchen sink late Sat night and called Abe Sunday morning.  He came out within the hour and found two leaks (I had only noticed one) and was able to fix both in less than an hour and a half.  He was professional and did a great job.  The only reason that I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that he is a little pricey ($225 for the fix today), but I think it is worth it to get a professional plumber who clearly knows what he is doing!

Called Abe in the morning asking about snaking a drain.  It had backed up during the storm we had over the weekend.  He said he would come by that afternoon(!) and it would be $75 to come, but that would be included if he did some work.  The drain wasn't draining at normal speed, and said that it wasn't necessary  but a good idea since it had been a while since it had been done (we've only been in the house a year, and I don't think the previous owners ever did this).  It cost $250 to snake, and he ended up finding a huge block.  He got it out...it was a SUPERBALL! Who knows how long it had been there.  He also gave me advice about a sump pump and grading under our deck - even walking around the entire house pointing out areas to grade.  I would have no reservations about calling Abe again - he is honest and holds nothing back.

Abe literally  just left my house.  I called him for a kitchen faucet replacement.  He went above & beyond ensuring that all the connections under the sink were working well.  He also offered to teach me how to install the fixture - what a rare offer!  It was clear he knows his trade well.  He was kind, courteous, and cleaned up after he was finished.  I also noticed that when he removed the old faucet he cleaned underneath it for a fresh start with the new faucet.  I appreciated his attention to detail!

We have used Abe several times in the past because he's not only great at his craft, but straightforward and no nonsense. After having him snake a shower drain a couple weeks ago, I contacted him for advice today on replacing a shower lever. I sent him a pic and he called me within minutes to discuss with me and walk me through it. He had done this in the past with a dishwasher hose also. There are not many services out there who will encourage you to DIY instead of taking your money. Abe is one of those services. He has our complete trust and will always be our go to for any plumbing needs big or small.

This is the 2nd time we've had Abe out to our house for plumbing issues.  We had a kitchen sink clog that just wouldn't go away with drain cleaner or our 25' snake.  We called him mid morning on a weekday & he was there by noon.  Within an hour the job was finished and our kitchen sink was usable again.  He's responsive, works quick & is trustworthy - highly recommended, this guy knows what he's doing!

Mr. Abe is one of the top people on my list for getting the job done. He came over on a Sunday after I had called for a clogged toilet and showed up within the hour. I had tried earlier to do it myself, but was unsuccessful. He is very professional and courteous. He tries to save you money, where he can, and gives sound advice. I'll definitely use him in the future. He is very efficient and knew what he was doing and got the job done.
    I think I rather pay someone for a job that knows what they are doing and takes half the time, than someone that does not know what they are doing and takes twice as long and fakes it until they make it.
  Again, great service and can't say enough good things about him. Highly recommend you call him.

Abe came out to turn our water off and fix a leak. He recommended a pressure reducing valve, which we had him install.

He was extremely rude and seemed expensive to me.

Turns out we now need an expansion tank on our hot water heater because of the pressure reducing valve he installed. He didn't say anything about that, and as a professional plumber, I would expect him to be upfront and know what impacts the pressure reducing valve would have.

Do not recommend, at all. Rude, expensive, and not very good.

We called The Plumbing Dr. for subsequent plumbing needs and I do recommend them.

I called Abe this evening, based on other Yelp reviews, to see if he could come help with a slow draining sink over the next few days.  He came right away and made quick work of the repair.  I had it looked at by another plumber previously and had been told that the pipe in the wall was corroded and he would need to cut them out- huge costly repair that would mean repairing walls as well.  Turns out, it was not a major repair- so pleased with the promptness of the service and the great/much needed repair.

We live in an older house with an updated kitchen where the previous owner installed a modern deep sink.  After moving in, we kept experiencing water backflow into the dishwasher.  Nasty.  We had a larger plumbing company out twice to fix the problem and all they did was drain the backed up water from the pipes under our sink, charged us 275 bucks and left, even though there was no debris coming out of the sinks and obviously the back-up wasn't being caused by a clog.  So then we called Abe, who took the time to diagnose the root cause of the problem:  our sink is too deep for this old house, which was designed with a shallower sink in mind.  Because of the deep sink and disposal, the entire u-shaped pipe sits too low which causes the water level that usually finds a happy equilibrium at the top of the U to sit above it, leaking into the dishwasher line connection.  Was so happy to have someone who took is craft seriously take the time to think about our problem.  Plumbing is Abe's craft and he is very good.  We will be going to him exclusively for future problems.

Buyer beware! Abe was way overpriced for the work he did for me. Two straight forward bath faucet repairs and was done in under an hour. I called three other good plumbers in the area afterwards and they would have charged almost half what he did! I should have shopped around. I think his work was good but but too simple for what he charged.

I called Abe today at 1:15 pm regarding a vibrating noise in my house's pipes. He diagnosed the issue as a bad pressure valve over the phone and provided me with a quote for same-day service. Our shower handle cartridge broke and couldn't be dislodged, and since the handle was stuck in the on position, and the cutoff valves (even if they exist) were inaccessible, I had to turn off the water in our entire house. When I called him, Abe tried to talk me through the repair on the phone, and came over when I still couldn't remove the cartridge. He was done within 30 minutes, and showed me how to do the repair myself if I need to do it again.

Abe charged $275, which is about what I thought the repair would cost if I called a larger company. I'll definitely call him again.

Was in search of a plumber and went straight to Yelp.  Abe's Plumbing has the best rating so I think to myself that it'll cost more than the others.  Well, that's not the case at all.  Call 3 different plumbing company and the price is actually below the others I call.

So....as you can see from my rating counts, I don't usually leave feedbacks.  I don't believe in leaving negative feedbacks but do believe in leaving feedbacks if work is above my expectation.   Well, feedback has been left.   Call and left a message in the morning and received a call back right away and Abe was accommodating and appointment was schedule for the afternoon.  He came right on time and knew right away what the problem was.  Went to work on the clog drain and completed the job quickly and explain everything along the way.  Abe also recommended that I change the water valve but he actually told me not to waste money and to change it myself.   He actually show me step by step on how to change the water valve.  A plumber that doesn't want to earn extra money.  What's the chance?  

I would not hesitate one moment to recommend Abe's Plumbing to my family and friends.   Abe, job well done,  you have a customer for life.

Abe came over a couple months ago near the peak of the pandemic, so I give him a big thumbs up for showing up and with a solid mask on.  He told me upfront his fees on the phone, which I agreed on. I appreciated him being forthright on his fees.
    Abe's the reason I recently bought my own snake / auger to clear a line on my own. Abe took his auger to a downstairs bathroom shower line that was slowly draining. I thought at the time that maybe there was a serious clog. I watched Abe do his auger work and he justified the expense by saying he cleared out some sediment. I'm not so sure about that. He then looked at the pump, said it could probably use a wider pipe from the shower drain, and recommended another company to possibly do the work. I recently learned from a third company -- not the one Abe recommended as I could never get a rep out -- that removed the shower pan that someone installed the pipes incorrectly.
    Abe cleared a small piece of plastic in the kitchen trash disposal that was causing an occasional backup, so I have no issue paying for that work. Long story short, I paid Abe $440 for 20 minutes of work. I guess I paid for the expertise and I should not focus on the short duration. I appreciated Abe cashing my check over a week later versus wanting money that day as money was tight that week.

Abe To The Rescue Again:

One of our kitchen faucets had started mysteriously leaking from the outside shaft, so once again I called Abe for help.  He arrived within the hour with a similar (not identical but acceptable) replacement and set to work.  

In the course of replacing the faucet, Abe was obliged to remove the disposal and discovered that the main gasket had failed and as a result was causing the unit to rust and leak.  Instead of replacing the entire disposal, Abe was able to cannibalize the required parts from another unit he had with him, saving us money and retaining our higher end disposal in the process.  He also diagnosed that the disposal drain connection had not been properly installed and was out of alignment, another source of potential problems, and reconnected it properly.  He also gave a lesson in how to clear a locked disposal and left behind the allen wrench required to do it.  Once again 5 stars.

I had low water flow in my upstairs bathroom.  Abe did not come out for my issue.  Instead, he walked me through the simple fix of removing the faucet aerator, removing the O-Ring and replacing it.  No cost, no appointment.
Abe did not need to do that.  He could have come out, charged me and gone along his merry way.  His decency and focus on customer satisfaction will make him our plumber from now on.  Thanks Abe.

Abe is the only plumber we call! He's efficient, does excellent work and charges a fair price. My wife and I have had a few emergencies at our home, including a leaky shower socket, and Abe responded very quickly and fixed the problem in no time at all. At this point, he's replaced our old shutoff valve, pipes to exterior faucets, shower faucets and fixed a blockage in our kitchen between the dishwasher and garbage disposal. There's no problem he can't solve and he's the first to call in the area for plumbing.

This morning I discovered a slow leak in a bathroom drain that was draining down to our basement. I came to Yelp and found Abe's Plumbing and called him up for help. So glad I did!!! I had a brief phone conversation with him explaining the problem and sent IM photos of the suspected problem. Abe provided me a reasonable quote (with caveats that he won't really know the problem until he inspects it) and I hired him on the spot. Abe came to our house after completing his last job (about an hour later), inspected our pipes, fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes and charged me 26% LESS than his original quote! He seemed to be knowledgeable and competent, and he completed the work in a satisfactory manner.  However, I did not necessarily feel like the amount he charged was reasonable (this is my feeling, I recognize that this might not be reality).  Also, his solution to some running toilets seemed drastic (I opted to take care of those myself).  Again, he certainly seemed to be skilled at his work (but I don't think I will be a repeat customer).

Abe is a great plumber. I had a toilet that had trouble flushing as well as high water pressure (I have my own gauge and measured at ~85psi). I didn't want to mess with the water pressure regulator so I called Abe to fix both problems.

Abe arrived within an hour and fixed both problems. He was very casual and polite. I highly recommend him for any plumbing work you need done.

$75 service call charge
$175 toilet snake
$375 water pressure regulator replacement

He waived the service call charge and put the cost towards the repair. Give him a call.

I Had sewage backing up into the tubs in both bathrooms after using the washing machine one day.  It was the first real plumbing issue I've had with my house.  We called Abe & he snaked out our line- there was a 40 ft long root plug in the pipe.  I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen how many thick roots & root plugs he pulled out.  The price quoted seemed high until he spent 4 hours re-snaking the line & getting more on each pass.  Afterwards, everything drains better than it ever has before.  Amazing work, and he even cleaned up the bathroom afterwards.  

To say I was impressed and happy with the quality of service would be a gross understatement.  I wish I could give this review another star.  This customer is VERY PLEASED.

We called Abe's based on the largely positive reviews on this site and on Google.  However, we are really disappointed.  He was rude and expensive.  $350.00 for 45 minutes of work, installing two screw on hammer arrestors.  He did arrive quickly, but was harsh in tone.  If you are patient, don't mind a demeaning tone when he talks to you, and you don't mind spending a lot of money in exchange for prompt service, then Abe's Plumbing can meet your needs.

Abe is truly a master plumber.  After reading many positive Yelp reviews and calling the Virginia DPOR to ensure licensing and certification, at 2 pm on a Friday I called Abe about a leaky outdoor faucet.  He answered my call immediately and arrived at my house within an hour.  Within a short time he diagnosed the problem, identified another problem, gave me a price quote and set about repairing the pipes.  He uses welding apparatus on the pipes which is quite impressive.  He wears a mask and gloves for covid precautions.  He is completely professional, efficient, informative and courteous.  His prices are in the higher range but you get what you pay for.  I would certainly call upon Abe for any plumbing problem.

We were experiencing an issue with an exterior drain backing up during rainstorms and were not successful resolving the issue ourselves so we called Abe.

Originally we had called to schedule an appointment (it wasn't an urgent issue) but Abe came out 30 minutes later on a Saturday afternoon.

As a few reviews have noted, Abe is pretty surly, but he sure does know what he's doing.  He quickly identified and resolved the problem and took the time to show me how to fix the issue in the future should it ever happen again.

I usually don't give a five star review after only one experience, but I was very impressed with Abe's service.

eehh... he's ok, def far from 5 stars in my book.
First the good, he is readily available, I'll give him that much, and he seems resourceful.  The bad, he's kinda hard to talk to.  You ask him questions trying to understand the situation and he responds as if you don't know what you're talking about.  It was supposed to be a simple clog clearing, but ended up a lot more complicated.  
He said he was 90% sure of the prob but he had to cut the steel pipe, but he'd need to charge me $450 more.  90% sure?  ok!  let's do it.  
Unfortunately that 90% turned out to be 0% as it did not solve the problem.
He seemed like he was in a mad rush.  Bottom line I'm down almost $1k and still had a clog and I had to clean up the mess afterwards.  Others might have had a good experience but sadly I did not.

Update:
Just had another plumber recommended by neighbors come out and snake the clog out in 50 mins.  It's a good thing I chose to get a 2nd opinion instead of listening to Abe's suggestion of needing excavation or tapping into a smaller line which he quoted me and said the price would go way up if I don't decide right there and then which I thought was pretty sketchy.

I've used Abe on two occasions in the past year for some plumbing problems I've had at my condo.  Abe was able to come out the same day I called and fix the problem that day.  He's really easy to work with and once you start talking to him you realize he is extremely knowledgeable and also trustworthy.  For this latest plumbing issue I wasn't even around in person and could only coordinate with him over the phone and there was no problem.  He is my go-to plumber and I would definitely recommend  him to anyone else.

Abe is extremely timely and a fantastic professional. He immediately picked up in the morning at 8:30 AM and was available within the hour. We had a recent bathroom renovation that was turning into a forever project from hiccups in a rental townhome. He resolved all the plumbing issues.

Two issues were discovered from a top floor toilet that leaked over its O-ring onto the ceiling drywall below. His diagnostic fee was a higher price than a larger company but worth every penny. He made sure to explain every detail and show how/describe why things weren't functioning properly. The bulk of the work was done on reinstalling a new O-ring just above the threshold of the tile floor below. The contractors prior had cut the subfloor hole too large for the drainage pipe lip and didn't brace all sides below. It was only screwed into wood on the 3 and 6 O'clock sides. It could be physically pushed down, adding to the overflow issue with the O-ring when the weight of water applied over time filled up the pipe. Having finished bracing with wood from below and installing the new ring, I came back upstairs to find him taking the O-ring he just installed back out, to redo that entire task, because he discovered our actual drainage pipe was not only not level but working against a slight upward angle (a problem from the original build). This added solid waste buildup overtime in the drainage pipe I got to see visually. He basically could have left it where it was having fixed the obvious O-ring issue but proceeded to check to make sure everything else was as it should be. He started to redo his work and put spacers below the drainage pipe lip and wood bracing to increase the angle to drain without even telling me it needed to be done. This man cares about the quality of his work. I've never seen it flush faster and the extra hour he put in to make sure the job was done correctly wasn't added to the overall quote. We had agreed on a quote and he stuck to it.

That's the kind of workmanship you're getting with Abe. He wants to know his name is attached to a job done appropriately. I highly recommend him if you want something done CORRECTLY. My tenants and I are very satisfied.

While no one is ever happy to have to call a plumber in an emergency, Abe is excellent.  

Had a horribly clogged bathroom sink and some kind of crazy, glued up DIY piping job underneath the sink.  Abe came about 30 minutes after I called, gave a fair price up front and got to work.  In under an hour, he had fixed the clog and replaced the piping/drain plug.  He even wiped down the sink and floor (which was mostly a mess I had made when trying to plunge the sink).

He's fast, fair and polite.  I would use him again (but hopefully won't have any plumbing emergencies for awhile)

Unfortunately, Abe's Plumbing doesn't service DC, but when I called, he asked me a couple questions and then gave me two suggestions. I was able to fix my own plumbing problem in less than 10 minutes with his help over the phone. Amazing! I wish all plumbers were so knowledgeable and honest!

A busted water pipe in the middle of the night, and Abe's Plumbing was out within a couple of hours, on a Sunday morning, no less.  Courteous, efficient, and explained what caused the problem and how he was going to fix it.  Hopefully we won't need a lot of plumbing repairs in the near future, but it's nice to know there's an honest guy around if we do.

I had a plumbing leak coming from somewhere inside my walls and Abe spent time measuring and thinking about where best to cut before picking the perfect spot in an interior closet. His knowledge and diagnostic experience were invaluable and saved me from potentially doing a lot of unnecessary damage to my home. Once Abe found the problem he was able to quickly repair it that same day. I felt he was straight forward and honest with me the whole time which is especially important when you're not very knowledgeable about plumbing issues. The second time I asked for his help. I had a clogged sink. Explained the problem over the phone last night and he provided an estimate over the phone (a 15% range). He called me 30-40 minutes before arriving, had the problem fixed, charging the minimum quoted (which, I believe seemed quite reasonable). He did not take a chance by just cleaning out the trap, but snaking 35-40 feet of pipes to ensure that there are no clogs further down.  Some people might think his rates are a bit high - but for anyone who has dealt with plumbers in the past, his charges are quite reasonable, especially because he knows his stuff, does a thorough job,  is punctual, and stays within his estimate.

The drain in our laundry room was backing up.  Called Abe.  He gave me the price over the phone.  He came out the same day and fixed the problem.  He had to snake it pretty far.  

Abe did a great job diagnosing the problem.  He also covered our floors to protect them from getting any dirt or crud, which was great.

I woke up this Saturday morning to find my utility sink down in the basement had backed up and completely filled up to the brim with water. There was water all over the basement floor as well. I called Abe and he said he could be over to my house within 45 minutes. He actually got there even faster - within 30 minutes! He snaked the pipes to the sink and found lots of gunk and dirt inside - he asked if I had been doing some building work because it looked like plaster inside the pipe. Actually, my basement was recently remodeled, so it must of come from that. I thought Abe was an honest hard working man and I will definitely call him again when I have a plumbing issue.

We had two toilets that needed new fill valves, only we didn't know that (we moved in 3 years ago and have no idea if they had ever been replaced in the 30 years that the house has stood). One toilet was slow to fill, the other was dripping water onto the ground. Able took one look at each of them and knew exactly what needed doing. He even showed me the old valves and had me stand with him while testing out the new valves to be sure that the new ones worked. No more slow fill, no more leaks.

For several months, I had a slow flushing toilet. Based on his excellent reviews on Yelp, I decided to give Abe a call on a Saturday. Abe got back to me promptly and asked me to text him a photo of the bottom of my toilet. Within a few minutes, Abe called me back and diagnosed the problem -- a clogged toilet siphon jet. He told me I could fix the problem myself by using a screwdriver to remove the mineral deposit buildup.  I really appreciated Abe's honesty and was able to fix the problem myself based on his advice. Because he's a local, small businessman and he got such great reviews on Yelp, I decided to contact Abe to fix a drainage/backup issue in my basement.  I called him on Wednesday morning to discuss my issue.  Surprisingly, he was ready to come to my home right away, but due to my work schedule, I asked for a Friday morning appointment.  He quoted me a price of $450 to snake out my drain with a clean out or potentially $650 without access to a clean out.  Given my lack of plumbing knowledge, I had to use google to find out exactly what a clean out was.  Abe appeared on time and ready to see the problem in action in order to give the right prognosis.  He provided me with two options to resolve my issue, with neither being outside the range of the prices he originally quoted.  He was in an out in about an hour and now I can shower and do laundry without fear of flooding out my basement.  His personality has been likened to that of the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld, which is not completely off base, at least initially.  Once he'd figured out the problem, he completely thawed out and started cracking jokes.  I am so happy to live within his specified service area because he is the ONLY plumber I plan to use should additional issues arise.  He is worth every penny and the peace of mind through his level of service is priceless!

Call him to schedule/get a quote.  He's probably on a job and not looking at yelp.

He arrived when he said he would (not a 2 hour window, but an actual time). Abe is an honest man, completing the work for the quoted price in a timely manner.  He is direct and efficient.  I will definitely use him again if I have a plumbing issue.

Just had a wonderful experience with Abe!  I called him this afternoon, he took my information, and said he would get back to me tomorrow.  Well, at 6:20 pm, he called and talked to my husband to see if he could fix the problem without coming over.  When that didn't work, Abe showed up 20 min. later, diagnosed and fixed the problem, all before 7:00.  He was lovely to work with and even made sure that our hose bibs and valves were shut off!  Highly recommend!

What can I say? I started calling plumbers (from Yelp) this morning, Abe was my first call. Our PRV went bad and needed replaced. Abe was available to work with our schedule. He said he would be at our house at noon or earlier and arrived on a Saturday morning at 11 am. We explained that we had another plumber replace a pressure reducing valve less than a year ago because we had water hammer, but now we are experiencing very low water pressure. He checked our pressure when we used a lot of water and showed and explained what was happening-- he is a no-nonsense kind of guy. He showed us how to turn off water coming into the house and replaced the valve with a better one that is easier to replace if this one turns out to be defective as well. He also said if it didn't fix the problem, he would only charge us half. The water pressure was instantly amazing, we could have all the water on and still have great pressure. He said plumbers can't guarantee parts, only their work, but to call him if something happens to the valve and he can tell us how to put in a new one over the phone. Thanks Abe for your help, we are loving the water pressure!

Abe did a great job fixing a tricky leaky tub faucet. I was really impressed with how quickly he responded to my call (he came out the same afternoon) and how fast he was able to resolve the issue. He was also able to spot another problem while there -- I was thankful he was able to quickly take care of that as well. Given that these are the times of Covid, Abe took the necessary precautions with PPE. And at the end, I found the price reasonable. Extremely happy with Abe's plumbing!  I have some experience - have had a house re-piped, had many repairs done over the years in other houses, but this was the best experience to date.  As the other Yelpers noted, Abe was careful to verify the problem over the phone, requesting pictures before paying a visit - much appreciated as it could have avoided unnecessary cost if it turned out to be simple.  Once he had the pictures he provided a quote and the stuck to it!  Showed up exactly when he said he would (even with heavy morning traffic) and got right to work.  Was done quickly, left the space cleaner than it was and was professional and friendly throughout.  Most importantly, the job was really well done.  Glad I called Abe!

It's true what others say. Abe is honest, upfront, professional.

I called Abe last evening about my tub faucet problem and he showed up before his own estimated time this morning. (how often does that really happen?) Although the actual problem was a bit different than what was perceived he quickly gave me an updated quote and then proceeded to check out all possible solutions to the problem. He even gave me alternative solutions - and let me choose my solution - which I greatly appreciated.

Abe was direct, efficient, explained everything, and did a decent job. BUT he grossly overcharged me for the work... $700 for 50 minutes of work to replace an indoor seasonal on/off valve, 15 inches of copper pipe, one copper elbow, and an outdoor faucet (and the outdoor faucet was installed at about 10 degrees off vertical...) Of course at the time I agreed to that price, but later regretted paying that much. Later I had the same work done on another outdoor faucet in front of my house by a different plumber and was charged just $425... Abe is way too expensive... $700 for a 50 minute job with perhaps $40 in parts... that's abusive. Next time I will get a second and third estimate and try to avoid getting ripped off .

Today was my first time using Abe's Plumbing.  We discovered what we thought was a leaking hose bib.  I contacted Abe at 3:30 and by 6:00 the same day he was done!  He quickly determined it was actually a cracked pipe, explained everything he was going to do, replaced everything, tested for leaks, and then meticulously cleaned up.  Friendly and professional.  Will definitely use Abe again!

I had a bathroom leak through our dining room ceiling and couldn't get any other plumbers to respond on a Saturday.  Abe's responded in less than 30 minutes.  They quickly diagnosed the problem, which was something that another handyman had fixed wrong, and replaced and corrected the work very quickly and cleaned everything up like he had never been there.  On a 2nd issue I had, he also responded in minimal time and did the same great work and clean up.

Called Abe this morning and he came over within several hours. He replaced some very old pipes going from the kitchen sink in my 1939 Arlington house down to the basement, which was leaking badly and making my basement wet. He quoted me a price beforehand, which had to be increased when he discovered an additional pipe when he broke thru the wall. The new price was ok. Abe is the man! I requested a quote for plumbing services this afternoon (Saturday) through yelp from about 10 local plumbers. I received responses from most either offering a free evaluation of the problem or price quotes of up to $450 to snake my kitchen sink and replace the garbage disposal. Abe responded differently stating he thinks he could help me out over the phone and to call him on his cell. I called Abe and he knew exactly what was wrong with my plumbing based on my inquiry. He instructed me to grab an Allen wretch and after about 5 minutes of being on the phone with Abe and listening to his instructions, my plumbing problem was fixed! Abe charged me no money and I got to learn something new. Plus, my problem was resolved faster and I'm not $450 in the hole. Where else can you find service like that? Truly the best. Thank you, Abe!

I called to ask about a garbage disposal repair and most other places I called don't even ask what's wrong they just quickly try to schedule an appt and charge you the estimate to come out. But honest Abe was so amazing! He asked what was wrong and essentially gave me a diagnostic over the phone. He said most of the time when he comes out it's a tiny screw or bone stuck that people can't really see so he told me to double check. So I did and it was a tiny little screw! He was spot on! And so helpful! And saved me $375! So I haven't used his service but the next time I need plumbing related issues he will be on the top of my list of people to call.

My bathroom sink wasn't draining.  I turned to Yelp, as I often do, to find a good vendor to help and ended up picking Abe, mostly because of the excellent reviews other people had given him here.

I explained the problem and he gave me a price quote over the phone.  I also called around to a couple other plumbers who had higher prices; Abe offered the most competitive price.

Abe came on time and fixed the problem, making it look easy.  He also explained to me what was going on to make sure I understood the problem and the solution.

He fixed the problem he came to fix which was a clogged drain. As soon as he was done with that he wanted to know where our shut-off valve was and started the sales  job on getting a pressure relief valve installed. Based on our plumbing configuration, it would be expensive (1k) and involve having to repaint and sheetrock in the area. :/He was high-pressuring, preached gloom and doom, and was quite brusk.  I've owned a few homes and have never heard of this one. I told him I wasn't interested, but next time I have a plumber here I will ask their opinion. His strong and brusk pitch was rather displeasing.

This shut-off valve is located in a tight space in our home, and it's where we keep our dog's water dish. He accidentally kicked it over, and I handed him a rag to wipe it up as I went to the other room to get my checkbook. When he left, I found that he'd tossed the rag on the floor, and left the dog dish water all over the floor. WTF? I really can't tolerate people who come into my home and disrespect me and my space. I was thoroughly unimpressed with Abe, but he gets 2 stars because he fixed the problem. Come on people, courtesy is a vital part of life, and I certainly demonstrate it to all who come into my home. I expect the same in return.

Had a simple clogged sink that I couldn't fix on my own. Found Abe on yelp and am glad I called. He was great on the phone and gave me a flat fee quote to fix the clogged drain versus other contractors said they would have to send someone out first to provide a quote and one even said there was a cost just to have a plumber come out. He was able to come to my home within an hour.

When Abe was just here he showed me the pipes and thought there was a chance a leaked could be involved as well. Luckily it was just a clog, but I am very happy with Abe's transparency and professionalism. He fixed the issue within 15 minutes. I will definitely call Abe again anytime we have any plumbing issues.

I was in a crisis situation last weekend when my bathtub knob stopped working and the water was gushing out at all night.  I tried everything I could, but could not get the water to stop.  I called several 24/7 plumbers, but nobody picked up or responded.  Not sure why they advertise being open 24/7.  Finally, I called Abe's Plumbing around 7:30 AM.  I was pretty sure I would get his voicemail, like I was getting with the other plumbers. To my surprise, he picked up the phone promptly on a Sunday morning. He told me he would be at my house by 9 AM. Then he called me and was at my house by 8:30 AM. I was super impressed by his punctuality and promptness. He knew exactly what the problem was and fixed the issue in 5 minutes. I am grateful he picked up my phone on a Sunday morning and got my out of my stressed out situation.

Competent, efficient and professional!  Recently I decided to replace two bathroom faucets and my kitchen sink faucet.  My decision was speeded up when a bolt securing one of my toilet tanks to the toilet bottom rusted away and created destabilization with my tank (luckily NO leak), but something that needed attending to fairly quick.  I called Abe after seeing many positive Yelp reviews.  He advised me to go purchase my faucets and then call him when I was ready to have them installed.  About a week later I phoned him and he came to my condo within an hour.  He worked efficiently and got things installed correctly the first time.  He was comfortable with me watching him and he was open to answering my questions and providing some helpful hints along the way.  He was careful about ensuring there was no leaking and used his flashlight to show me that there were no leaks.  He was in/out in about 2.5 hours which was great.  He was meticulous about cleaning up after he completed each area.  I would definitely use him again (hopefully I won't have to though) and I give him my highest recommendation.

I called Abe and inquired about repairing the refrigerator water line. He was very rude and seemed like he was just interested in ripping me off. He kept throwing out different numbers... $75 for service call, then a diagnostic test, then a minimum fee of $250 to come out. Even though I told him I knew exactly what part of the pipe was leaking and needed splicing, he insisted he'd have to do all this analysis and leave the pricing very loose and open-ended. This guy seems totally untrustworthy.

Outstanding service. We had a main drain issue that led to our kitchen sink not draining at all.  I called Abe a while back and got a reasonable price but decided to get an estimate somewhere else...mistake! Should have called Abe to begin with.

This time I called and he was able to come to the house since he had a cancellation. He got there on time and what started as a simple snake turned into an anaconda of a job up and down.l stairs. But he got it done and in a fairly fast time. He offered good advice and the prices were very reasonable. Good work ain't cheap and you get what you pay for.

I highly recommend! And will use him again if I need plumbing services. You should too.

I consider myself a handyman. However, we recently had a leak but try as I might, I couldn't find the source of it.

I called Abe up and he showed up on the same day a few hours later. He did all sorts of things that only a seasoned plumber would know to try to find the source of the leak. At first, he was just as confused as I was. It took about 20 minutes but he zeroed in on the source of the leak.

Abe is blunt but professional. His time is precious so he doesn't waste it and he doesn't waste yours. You get what you pay for -- the services of a veteran plumber. You can use cheaper companies, but good luck.

I recently had a plumbing issue with a corroded outdoor water faucet in a hard to reach place.  Abe responded quickly and was at my home within an hour.  A+ for responsiveness!
The job was slightly trickier than expected, but Abe was able to get the job done in 30-45 min.   When asking him what I owed, he asked if $175 was a fair price.  Although higher than expected, I paid his suggested price for the quick response time.
He also gave me a quote for the installation of a PRV valve on my main water line...his quote was significantly higher than two other plumbers quotes I have received.
Happy with the quick quality service, but be sure to clarify price to prevent surprises.

Quick and efficient! We had a leaking faucet on sunday and I called Abe's plumbing and was able to  have a plumber came out within an hour and took him less than 20 mins to fix the problem. Make sure you discuss price and detail of all the work  before start. I would be using Abe's plumbing again in the future.

A quality plumbing job is extremely valuable, but plumbers tend to seem expensive. Abe is a master craftsman second to none, and you get Abe every time. He's always on call and always at work. He will work with you to diagnose the problem before walking in the door and fixes the right issue the right way, without delay. My house is a more reliable home for my young family because of Abe.

Service was good...Abe was prompt/punctual, efficient and its quite evident that he knows his trade.  

Maybe it was because it was the first time we've used him,  but I definetely think I was a bit overcharged for the work performed.  It seemed to be a rather 'simple' problem as it took him less than 30 minutes to finish and the charge was over $300 (for resealing a leaky toilet).

So good plumber,   efficient service,  but quite expensive!

Abe was really great! I called him, and texted him pictures of the leaky pipe and he gave me a quote on the spot and came and fixed it all on the same day. He was courteous and very professional and fixed the problem quickly. This is absolutely what I want from a plumber. Great!

I discovered a bad leak coming from my upstairs bathroom into my kitchen around 11 pm last night.  I called Abe early this morning and he got to my house in under two hours, quickly found the source of the leak (a bad shower handle cartridge), and easily fixed it.  While he was on site, he also replaced another bad cartridge for me in another shower that was not adjusting properly between hot and cold water.  I don't know much about plumbing.  Abe was patient with my questions, did the repairs quickly, and even showed me a few things I could do myself in the future.  I would definitely call him again.  My qualm was that he doesn't reseal the shower handles that were removed from the wall, so I have to do that myself.  But he fixed the leak, which is what I called him about so I'm happy!

I advise that if you have an emergency call someone else.  I though he would cut me a break based on these rave reviews but he turned out to be an opportunist.  He quoted me a price I thought to be far in axcess of what a reasonable emergency call should cost.

I called Abe on a Sunday afternoon about a leak coming from a supporting wall near my house. He arrived 30 minutes later. He took the time to investigate and walked me through the possible causes. There was nothing for him to repair (concrete deck draining issue) and he didn't charge me anything for the visit. I've had him come out a few times before to snake the drains and fix my sump pump and every time it was quickly and professionally done. He's very direct about the issue and cost; and he's clearly an expert in his field. It's great to have a plumber you can trust.

Our outdoor faucet had been leaking for months.  Wasn't able to fix it on my own so decided to call Abe, based on reviews.  He answered the phone, said he could come and fix it and was there the next morning.  45-minutes later there's a new faucet and everything is fixed.  Fantastic work, highly recommended!

Abe was prompt (came over about an hour after I called in the middle of a weekday), and really efficient (fixed my garbage disposal within 15 mins). However, he is really expensive as well ($175 to come to my place to remove some debris from the disposal). He doesn't talk much, which I am fine with.

In my opinion, he's a go to plumber if you need something done ASAP and are willing to pay for it, but not a cheap option.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but here goes:

Abe really IS awesome!

After 24 hours of no running water and waiting for our Home Warranty company to dispatch a local plumber to fix our leaky pressure reducing valve, Abe shows up in 24 MINUTES! Actually it was probably a bit less but you get the idea.

My wife and I just had a baby girl 4 weeks ago, and running water is a MUST.  I called Abe and he showed up that same evening, fully equipped. Cut out the old valve, assembled the new one, soldered it in and we were up and running in less than an hour. The guy really knows his stuff. He cleaned his joints and showed me it was leak free.

FAST, reliable, knowledgeable. He even does some pre- troubleshooting over the phone. He quoted my price before he started his work, and that's exactly what I paid for his services.

He'll be the only guy I'm calling when I need plumbing work. I hope he NEVER retires!

After spending over a month renovating my bathroom, and having contractors and plumbers in and out daily, the last thing I wanted to do was make a service call. Unfortunately, a slow tub drain and toilet that didn't quite flush correctly meant I needed to make a call.

I'm so glad I found Abe. He was on time, fast, and explained exactly what he was doing throughout the process. He even showed me how to make one of the repairs myself for the future. The fact that I called him at 9 am and he was here by 1:30 was even better. His work was top-notch and he did a great job cleaning up when he had finished. Abe will definitely be my first call in the future!

We had out of town guests and and they reported a leaking toilet. I called Abe and he was able to come over right away. Turned out the problem was not the toilet but the showering techniques of our guests. Abe installed a better shower head and suggested an easy and low cost fix to keep water from running over the edge of the bath tub. Glad to have found this great plumber.

I found Abe through Yelp and am so grateful for the positive reviews. We had a ton of water underneath our kitchen sink and had no idea what went wrong. Just from calling Abe, he immediately guided us on how to fix it over the phone for free! The problem was the pullout faucet hose came loose. As soon as we tightened it, we were good to go, thanks Abe!!! So generous with your advice and help, if we have any other problem, we'll call you!

I was trying to figure out how to leave a tip but haven't yet...Fellow yelpers, if you find a tidal wave randomly under your kitchen sink and have a pullout nozzle...try tightening it and all will be well again! Tips from Abe, not me! :)

Responsive and competent. A tenant noticed that the disposal was heavily leaking the Friday morning after Thanksgiving. I texted him, he called within 15 min for details, went and purchased the same model, was at the property within the hour, and replaced the faulty disposal shortly thereafter. All told - two hours from text to completion.

Pricing is probably on par with others if not a bit more expensive. But he is upfront and clear about pricing before he starts the job so there are minimal surprises. Just straightforward service, no nonsense demeanor, and will get the job done at a fair price - all you need in a plumber.

Had Abe come over to replace our main water line and add a pressure regulator. He was very responsive- called yesterday and he was ready to start and finish the job today! I like that he took a lot of info over the phone so that multiple visits were not necessary. He was very efficient and explained the costs up front and changes needed because we needed some additional things done. He even found a pin hole leak which we weren't even aware of. I'm glad we found him and that he could fix our pressure and main line. Would totally recommend his services!

We had an emergency plumbing situation and called Abe on a Saturday afternoon.  He was able to come out right away, quickly diagnosed the problem, and then just as quickly he solved it.  

As some of the other reviewers have mentioned, Abe isn't cheap, but from our standpoint I'm willing to pay a bit more for prompt, reliable service and for a job well done.  And that's what we got with Abe.  

Although I hope I never need him again, if we do have a plumbing problem he's the one we're going to call.

The whole time he told me what he was doing and what had gone wrong with my problem (a fill valve on my toilet's reserve tank had failed). I didn't actually use Abe's services, but called him numerous times because he was one of the folks who was very helpful in answering my questions. He was VERY helpful, even though he KNEW that my issue wasn't something he was able to fix (he doesn't have the tools to fix drain clogs from inside the house, only if you have an outside clean out drain). I just had to come on and commend him for his great service even though he knew he wasn't going to get work out of it.

I called Abe's plumbing to install and repair a bathroom faucet and drain. He was on time and very professional. He explained that the drain was not a standard installation and that additional work was required. He provided me with an initial quote but then worked with me on the price after I explained that I didn't realize of the additional work required and cost evolved. I will recommend him to anyone and I will use his service again in the future.

Abe's Plumbing should be really called Honest Abe's Plumbing, because he really does not want you to spend $$ on something really minor that you could fix yourself- if you knew what you were doing....he talked my husband through a wrench tightening that fixed the problem, and saved us the price of a weekend service call. Huzzah to honest abe!

I needed some work done and found Abe on Yelp.  He came over right away and gave a bid for 2 things I needed done.  The house was going to be for sale and I think he thought he could extort the money.  The job was replacing 2 overflow caps and fixing 1 leaking shower valve.  He bid $350 to replace the 2 overflow caps saying that they are rusted and it'll take him a long time and said it will be over $1000 to replace the shower valve but he could fix the leak instead for $650.  I am not new to this planet so I knew that these prices were ridiculously high.  

I ended up just replacing the 2 overflow caps myself for $6 for the 2 caps and I found a plumber who replaced the valves that I purchased for $350 labor charge.  

I don't know what kind of work Abe does, I'm sure he is capable from the reviews, but his prices were high so I would get a 2nd opinion.

Abe is fantastic! I found him here on Yelp and after seeing the other great reviews called him around 8:30 am on July 4th(!) because we had a leak. He showed up within the hour, worked quickly and capably, and finished in less than an hour. He talked me through everything, explaining what was and was not necessary, and even helped clear away some drywall that had been damaged by the water. I will never call another plumber again! There's a reason this man receives a five-star rating. He is straight-forward, arrives on time, and means what he says through action. I called Abe and within 20 minutes (based on his location/schedule), he was at my front door with tools.

Word to the wise: a direct phone call to his number goes a LONG way. Requesting a quote is unnecessary and timely, and with his schedule and clientele, I am glad I placed a phone call before anything else because within 30 minutes of calling, my drains were cleared. The job was done in a timely manner and at the price he promised over the phone. No gimmicks.

I will definitely be recommending his services to others, without hoping it never comes to my personal need again :)

Abe is a true professional and it's refreshing to know there still out there! I called him about a leaking garbage disposal in the morning, walked him through the problem I was having, and he gave his recommendation over the phone as well as scheduled a time to come to my home later that afternoon.  He let me know the options over the phone but didn't push the most expensive option but said he would evaluate when he arrived and if he could save me money he would.  He showed up on time, was clean, knowledgeable, and even answered my questions about the problem as I watched over his shoulder so I could learn.  He finished my job in about 45 minutes and it was done very well.  He wasn't necessarily 'cheap' but plumbers aren't and he given how good his work done and how efficient he was I had no problem paying him the fees.  Will be calling him in the future for any plumbing needs.

I thought I would need some major plumbing repair since we had two toilets and a kitchen sink back up at the same time. Called Abe, who listened to our description of the problem, asked for a couple of pictures, and explained what was going on in very clear and easy to understand terms. Turns out the problem was a clog that had cleared itself out and no additional snaking was needed. He gave some advice on how to prevent it and what to do if a similar problem happens again. Great work and super quick! Our shower drain was clogged far beyond what Drano or our tools could handle so called Abe. He was at our house within 2 hours of that call, all masked and gloved up. Snaked our drain, removed a ton of gunk and then showed us it was now draining well, so I went to get my checkbook. When I came back, Abe was snaking it again b/c he wasn't quite satisfied yet, even though we both thought he was done! That goes to show he cares about his work and customers.

To be honest, I normally don't take the time to leave reviews; even when the service is excellent.  I know that's bad, but sometimes by the time I get a few minutes at the computer, it slips my mind.  
But, I am making sure I don't miss the change to leave a review on the amazing service that Abe's Plumbing did today.  First, Abe is great!  It's like have my uncle come over and not only show me how to fix something, but also give me frank advice.  Second, Abe responded quickly, showed-up quickly and did the job exactly as he quoted.  Better, without me even asking, he broke-down the work into three segments and priced each independently so that I could determine what made sense to me.  He clearly told me what needed to be done and what was more of a nice to have to avoid future issues.  I really appreciated this as I had told Abe that I intend to remodel the bathroom and wasn't looking to do more than was needed to fix a leak.  The recommendations he gave me clearly allowed me to understand what investment would carry over post remodeling and what wouldn't.  His prices are very reasonable and his no-nonsense approach is refreshing.  
I'll certainly call Abe again for any plumbing work I need in the future.

Oh what a blessing to find out about Abe!! He is a lifesaver!  Just three nights before Thanksgiving and our kitchen sink started leaking water all under the sink.  I called Abe (and he returned my call within 2 minutes!).  He asked a few questions then had me do a few minor things and VOILA.... My leaky sink was fixed and our Thanksgiving party is back on again!  Abe was so kind and patient - and he didnt even charge me for this consultation/service call/help!  He was so kind and incredibly helpful - we will FOR SURE be calling Abe next time with ALL of our plumbing needs!  Thanks, Abe!!! I contacted Abe when he opened this morning, explained the problem.  He told me what he thought he would need to do, what the cost would be and he could be there before noon.  

All sounded good, he called about an hour later said he was on his way.  He showed up at 9:30, checked out the situation and got to work..30 minutes later problem was fixed, everything back to working better than before.  The cost didn't change. Abe was very professional, friendly, he will be who I call in the future and the one I will recommend to friends and to anyone else looking for a good plumber.

Can't say enough good things about Abe! Showed up today (yes, it's Sunday) within 15 minutes of me calling him. Quickly determined where the problem was and snaked the main drain all the way to the street. There is no upcharge for coming on Sunday or for showing up within 15 minutes. Abe came by the same day (in fact within a few hours) of a broken (frozen) pipe on the back of my house.  I was able to isolate where the damage was which saved me his investigation fee - once he arrived he got to work very quickly.  Repair (including sauntered new copper pipe) and pipe winterization lesson took about an hour and now my water crisis has passed! Excellent work - he didn't clean up the dry wall waste on the floor following the work which is why he didn't get 5 stars, but overall a great experience.  Thank you Abe!

We went to Abe thanks to all of the rave reviews and we're so happy we did! He was responsive, was ready to come out that day, and fixed everything when he arrived. A different plumber had told us we'd need a number of expensive fixes, including cutting into our wall and replacing a pipe. Abe explained the code and that that was unnecessary. He assured us he'd never tell us something needed fixing if it didn't and it's such a relief to have an expert we can trust.

I don't really do Yelp reviews, but I find plumbing issues extra stressful so I wanted to put other people's minds at ease. If you need a plumber, CALL ABE!

I called Abe on a Saturday afternoon because the ceiling below my bathroom was leaking into the dining room.  Although he did not have availability,  He agreed to squeeze me in to at least assess the leak and shut off the water to prevent further damage to the ceiling.  

He happened to be finishing a job in my neighborhood and arrived about 20 minutes after I called him.  He came in quickly diagnosed the issue turned off the water.  It turns out I had a small length of corroded copper pipe for one of the lines feeding the tube.  He was actually able to remove and replace the damage section of pipe during that appointment and finished all of the work in under an hour.  

The price was reasonable for emergency weekend service based on other on estimates I saw on line.  He also provide a referral for someone to help the dry wall.  

I would definitely recommend him and will use him for any new plumbing issues that arise.

I needed help after hours and Abe was one of the few who actually was picking up the phone.  He helped solve the problem on the phone in minutes.  Without Abe's help, we would have probably had to wait until the next day to find a plumber who was open who would have then charged us hundreds of dollars.  Abe was willing to walk us through how to temporarily solve the problem but his advice on finding the particular water shut off valve for the water line to the refrigerator that was causing the problems was what saved the day.  Thank you so much Abe for answering your phone after hours and helping me when I was freaking out about a leak and possibly not having water in the house all night.  Abe - the Plumber Angel!  On top of that he is BBB accredited with an A+ rating.

I got extremely prompt service from Abe, as he responded to my call within half an hour to address a clogged main drain.  Abe seems to speak drain language, not just snake drains.  I would even say he was one with the drainage system.

Abe was systematic in his approach to diagnosing the problem, and didn't rush off once the job was done.  He waited and allowed water to run thoroughly, making sure the problem was corrected.  He started out checking the obvious, and then worked his way thru the house system. I thought he used top notch equipment, too.

As with all other drain cleaners I have used, the price was considerable, but he does offer a discount.  I have yet to find an inexpensive drain cleaning company.

I just had to write this review about Abe's Plumbing. Being a first-time homeowner AND a single mom, it's difficult to find people you can trust to do a good job for a fair price. Thankfully, based on Yelp's reviews, I found Abe's Plumbing. Abe was at my house in less than an hour after I called him (on a Sunday, too!). He knew immediately what the problem was and gave me an upfront, fair estimate. He was fast, efficient, and my problem was fixed faster than I would have ever expected! Not only that, but Abe was very kind and professional and I will definitely use him for future plumbing concerns and highly recommend him to others in the area. Abe is awesome.  He's prompt, knowledgeable, reasonable, professional, fast, and really, really, really, good.  He gives you an all-in price up front and sticks to what he tells you.  He seems to have everything you could possibly need on his truck.  I brought him in for what I thought was a simple valve replacement and turned out to be a little trickier than I thought -- but he knows all the tricks, and fixed that and a couple other issues while he was here.  For sure he saved me the replacement of a $500 kitchen faucet and possibly much more as my water main valve was almost certainly on the verge of failing.  I've used quite a few plumbers over the years sorting out and correcting the previous owner's many DIY plumbing misadventures, and Abe is hands down the best.  He wears a mask and gloves for COVID precautions and maintains social distancing in accordance with CDC guidelines.  He's on my speed dial now and I'll never call another plumber.  I highly recommend him.

Abe is very honest, knowledgeable, and matter-of-fact. He fixed my plumbing issue, and was very gracious in returning when we noticed loud noises from the piping. He says his customers are his friends, and he's like the gruff father figure that knows more simply because he's seen more. Abe came out to look at my disposal today. He literally arrived in less then one hour. He called me to tell me he was on his way. Before he came he tried to troubleshoot it over the phone for free. He ended up coming to my home and found out that it was a bad switch. He recommended that I have the switch replaced by an electrician. No charge for the visit. He was extremely polite extremely professional and very prompt. I would recommend this man for any plumbing job that you have.

I had a clog and thought it was one simple snaking. Actually, he had to snake the pipes in four different sections. I did not think he would be able to clear them out. But he stuck with it and I finally heard a loud suction noise. Music to my ears. Thank goodness I didn't have to replace these old pipes yet.

I called Abe around 10:45am to deal with a clogged bathroom sink drain.  After getting an estimate and receiving approval from the landlord to have the drain fixed, I called Abe back.  He said he was busy for the next few days, but asked my schedule and when I would be available, in case someone cancels an appointment. Sure enough, he called back a few hours later and was able to get to my apartment within 30 minutes.  He was friendly, personable, and fixed the drain very quickly. He even showed me a tip on how to remove the drain stopper to easily snake the drain.  All in all, a great plumber, very capable, and I highly recommend him.

Abe does it again. This is the second time I've had Abe out but this time for a clogged pipe.

I will only use Abe! Here's why:

First, he's the most punctual contractor I have ever had. I called him at 8:26 on Saturday morning, and he was here by 9:15.

Second, he's upfront and quickly diagnoses the problem. From his truck, he grabbed all of his needed supplies which included tarps to line my floor so his tools didn't damage my kitchen floor, and since he was using a snake, the yuckiness also didn't get to my floor. I've noticed this each time he's out that he makes a concerted effort to take care and not cause damage or create a mess which I am grateful for.

Third, his pricing is upfront. Some might consider his price a bit high but keep in mind he's punctual and doesn't waste time. Also, he's direct and doesn't try to upsell. Finally, his fee is for the job and not based on how long he spends, so he's not looking to milk time. Plumbers I've used in the past had a fee to come out and diagnose and then billed a separate hourly fee. They would then spend too much time diagnosing and solving the issue. Abe is old school and not trying to get over on you.

This is why I call Abe when I have an issue. Also, I don't think I've seen a bad review for him, so with that many awesome reviews, it should be a no-brainer.

Abe is a consummate professional. I needed emergency service for a tub/shower valve failure/leak in an upstairs bathroom I shut off my water and expected to be without it for the weekend, this Memorial Day weekend. After researching Yelp, Abe was the third call I made (should have been first) but he was the only plumber I was able to speak with instead of an answering service and he tried to help me. He asked for the brand of component that failed. I didn't know so he asked me to send him a couple of photos and explained that if it was a Kohler it would need replacement but a Moen could be repaired. Sent him the photos, I had a Kohler. Abe arrived and made the repair, welded, copper pipe, new fixtures, the works. Showed me the builder's grade component that failed and all the welds/new pipes he put in. Quality work. I have issues with leaking toilets that need new flush valves, etc, and now that I've found a reliable guy, I'm going to put him to work. This guy runs his own show and is an incredibly hard worker. Price was fair and I wasn't charged extra for the holiday.

Abe was very responsive when I submitted a quote request on yelp. I needed a replacement garbage disposal and had ordered one from Home Depot. He advised me the garbage disposal wouldn't fit and that he could install another model that he normally carries, but I looked up information on some online forums that said the specific model I bought (though not that line in general) WOULD fit. I told him to come over and try to install it, and he said he'd bring the other model anyway. Well, he showed me the measurements in my cabinet and, sure enough, he was right. Haha. He installed the model he initially proposed and I returned my model to home depot. I also price-checked the model he installed and he basically gave me the bulk purchase discount.

In addition to being correct about which models would fit my pipes and doing a quick and great installation, he was also a super nice guy and had great communication. He saw my son reading a book and said he was proud of him. Nice guy! Highly recommended.

This guy is THE MAN. Like many here, I found Abe through Yelp.

My toilet stopped working this morning, and what seemed to be an easy fix (replacing the antisiphon valve) turned into a frustration of epic proportions when I could neither turn off the water valve to the toilet, nor could I remove the old antisiphon valve. My older home had some seriously ancient fixtures, and minerals had locked the water valve open (and no amount of WD-40 and elbow grease was getting it closed), and the old, weird antisiphon valve was just glued in there with crud. Oy.

So I call Abe, he's in my area on another call and says he'll be here soon. He arrives, and with little fanfare, he rocks my toilet -- replaces the water valve, replaces the antisiphon, and does it SO QUIETLY MY KIDDO DOESN'T WAKE UP FROM HER NAP IN THE NEXT ROOM. A+ for that, Abe!

He's a quiet, efficient, and smart guy. Definitely knows his stuff, and he's worth every penny of his fee. I will be calling him again the next time I need a plumber.

Abe was professional, responsive, efficient, and was accommodating with all my questions/concerns.  I'm happy to have found a reliable plumbing service.  They will have my business for any future work.

I called Abe this morning because the water valve shut off to the toilet was broken, as was the mechanism inside the toilet that controls water flow.  It was an urgent problem and quickly turning into an emergency.  Water was flowing non-stop into the tank and I couldn't turn the water off to my unit.  After describing the problem and sending two photos of the issue, he was able to provide an estimate and he said he would provide same day service.  Actually, he left the time up to me since I'm in a condominium and had to work with building engineers to shit off water to the tier completely.

Abe arrived early for our appointment.  He came prepared and worked efficiently and cleanly in the space.  While working, he found corroded parts in the tank that were pretty much going to break at any time.  As he tried to remove a screw/bolt, it broke off from the corrosion.  Had this broken before he arrived, water would've flooded my place and the floors below.  He called me over the point out what he found and explain - this was awesome since I don't know anything about plumbing and components.  After the work was completed, he checked for any leaks a number of times before wrapping things up.

If you're still reading, this is a business that provides excellent service for a fair price.  Abe is licensed and insured, so you can't beat that peace of mind.

Abe's plumbing is the best! Upon accidentally flushing something extremely valuable down the drain, we completely panicked and set forth to call all our nearby plumber's.  They all told us we were completely doomed, but Abe was the only guy who gave us any hope.  He wasn't optimistic and said the chances was slim but he came right over (even though it was late in the evening)  and gave a real valiant effort in trying to retrieve the items.  Hours passed by and he was trying his hardest but eventually he told us the item could not be retrieve.  He gets 5 stars for his great effort and professional mannerism.  While others did not even bother to try to help us, Abe really tried to retrieve the item.  He definitely earned my business for our next plumbing mishap.

Abe came and saved me on a Saturday on short notice. I had a very blocked drain that had backed up and flooded my laundry room, and I was afraid to use my laundry or the kitchen sink. I know he was very busy, but Abe came within two hours and quickly fixed it. His price wasn't cheap, but it was Saturday and I really needed help and didn't mind. I am not sure how he has so many five-star reviews. I contacted him and he came out to look at what the repair I needed and because I wasn't ready for him to do the repair right then and there he became rude and said thank you and have a great day and left.  Never explained what the repair entailed either.  Unless you need something done right away and you don't call any other plumbers then I suppose he would be a good choice. But I'm not going to commit to a job when I don't even know what that entails.

Forget being the best plumber, he is probably the best contractor I have ever met.

I called Abe at 5:35 pm because our kitchen sink had been leaking....he told me it be $75 to come out the same night.  

Ok?!?!  

2.5 hours later, the sink has been replaced with a brand new faucet and no more leak.

I only wish he did more than just plumbing.

This review is not based on actual service performed. Instead, it is based entirely on two interactions with Abe.
Based on Abe being local and independent, we were interested in reaching out to him.

The first time we called Abe we were having a problem with our toilet. It's been two years now so I don't remember what the problem was. However, I do know that he stated that we could do this repair ourselves and didn't take an appointment. He's a professional so I'm sure whatever it was that we were asking seemed impossibly simple. We're good with YouTube and web instructions and had we felt confident then we would have done it ourselves. We didn't have a choice to go with him so we called another company.
The second time I called was to look into an issue that was the result of another plumbing company's sloppy work. (Different issue than the first example above.) But Abe would have none of it. He told me to call back the original company to fix the problem which I totally agreed with. But, I already had them come out several times with each time resulting in a new semi-related problem. At this point, I no longer trusted this other plumbing company and I'd rather just have someone new and competent fix the problems and pay whatever it took to be resolved of issues. But Abe wouldn't do it and maybe he was sticking to his morals or what he thought my morals should be or maybe he just didn't want to be bothered. I don't know. However, it was two times we called him and two times he was like, Nah. And that's ok. What he could have done better was not be so damn dismissive. I really wonder why people think he's so wonderful. He bordered on rude when I talked him.

Abe may be an amazing plumber, but, I will never know. After these two times, I will not call him again. He's clearly busy and didn't want to be bothered. Thus, my rating is based on how he interacted with me, a potential customer on two occasions.

I called Abe and he asked me to send him pictures of the issues we had. Once he received the images he called me to talk about what he was seeing and told me the prices to resolve most of them and the others he would have to give me a price when had a chance to evaluate the problem.  He was able to come over in less than an hour.  Showed up and got right to work.  He showed us what the issues were and offered options that would give us the best result.  We had 3 leaks and each one needed a different resolution.  We also had a broken shower handle and he knew just what to do to fix the issue.  Again walked me through everything once he was done and I have no more leaks and I feel great about the service and transaction! Would highly recommend.

Abe responded to my message within 5 minutes, on Thanksgiving day. I had just intended to leave a message to get in line for the next morning, but he called me right back. Abe showed up when he said he would, did a great job, and charged what he said he would. He was very neat and clean, and left things as good as or better than they were. He was very conscientious - I noticed that he dabbed a little plumbers putty on the inside junction of my sink trap before reinstalling it. No one does that, but it is certainly best practices.

After he was finished, and I paid him, he suggested that I check my main water cut-off and pressure valve before winter. He then spent about 20 minutes of time (off the clock) helping me sort through my old remodeled house for the cut offs.

So, we used Abe for the first time back in January 2013 for cracked pipe and were very pleased with his work and  professionalism.  Ater turning off the water in November, we turned it back on this weekend only to find water spraying all over the place. This time, the problem was not a crack but appeared to be a case of the pipe that had come loose at the valve.  I called Abe to come take a look and strongly suggesting that this shouldn't have have happened after such a short time.  After reviewing the pipe, Abe concluded that the problem was caused by the cold weather. Regardless of the cause, he expeditiously and graciously fixed the problem and did not charge us as a show of good will.  Needless to say, his repeat professionalism and gesture was extremely well received! I called up Abe to clear out my main line out to the sewer, as all my plumbing was backed up and having lots of problems. After trying a few places, he was the first one who could do it day of, on a Monday holiday, and arrived promptly to snake the line. It was a flat fee of $550, and he cleared everything out.

Six months later, the problem happened again. I called around again, and he was the only one who could come the same day. Again, for $550, he snaked the main line, and I talked with him about how to investigate the larger problem that was likely happening, where a pipe probably needed replacing.

I came to the conclusion that I was going to have to set up another appointment with a plumbing company that is able to identify the problem with camera equipment. The second snaking lasted me only two weeks before things started backing up, and sure enough the camera revealed a lot of larger damage that can't be fixed with periodic snaking.

So while I appreciated Abe's availability, I would only recommend him for smaller problems. I could have saved some money by starting with a company better equipped to identify and fix the long term problem.

We called Abe's on a Saturday and he arrived within 20 minutes of our call.  We were updating our half bathroom, and the pipes in our house are so old that it went beyond what we could accomplish ourselves.  Not only did Abe fix the problem in 30 minutes, he gave us some tips about what we could do to maintain it and prevent any leaks in the future.  And, all for a price much less than what we were quoted over the phone by other plumbers.  We will definitely call Abe again, both for routine help and emergencies.

Over the years I've used Abe five or six times. He came through again this morning.

The other day I noticed our front porch was damp near the front hose bib. Unscrewed the hose and sure enough...slow drip from the hose. I called Abe, he asked some quick questions, gave me a few costs (based on potential scenarios having not seen how much pipe was exposed) and schedule a time for today. He came, did a quick assessment, confirmed one of the costs (not the most expensive one, by the way!) and in half an hour had cut the old pipe and had a new hose bib installed!

If you are bored at home and looking for someone to talk to while they s-l-o-w-l-y work to justify their price - do not call Abe. I call him because every single time he leaves I'm amazed at how fast, focused, and good he is. I don't need him to be here any longer than the job takes. He and I both have other things to do!

If there is any plumbing work that needs to be done - Abe is my guy. While the selfish side of me wants to keep him a secret, I know that the only two ways I can thank Abe are to pay him and let others know about him.

I called Abe because of water that was dripping out of a faucet attached to the side of my townhouse way up on the 4th floor.   Abe called me back promptly, and told me to check the air conditioning unit because of the unusually hot weather.   Sure enough, that was where the water was coming from!  Water was in the pan under the unit, with a hose from the pan leading to the exterior side of the house.   I really appreciate providers who are willing to provide you verbal assistance over the phone when the problem is a simple self help fix.   Abe could have come over and charged me for a service call, but instead, volunteered the helpful information over the phone.  Thank you Abe!

I cannot say enough good things about Abe. A pipe in my garage burst during Winter Storm Neptune in my garage. Apparently the builders of my townhouse didn't move the shutoff valve far enough back from the hose bib to really protect it from freezing. It was only two feet away if that.

Within 2 hours of calling for help Abe had fixed the pipe, relocated the shutoff valve further back on the pipe to better protect it while upgrading me to a better valve. A bargain for $825 and having hot water before the snow hit.

Before he left Abe checked out my other pipes and gave me advice on how to best protect our house given how everything is run. Before he left he gave me pipe heating cord to install to protect the pipe in the future (it automatically turns on at 36 degrees) which is now keeping the pipes protected.

We're repeat customers! This morning was the third time (different issues each time) we've hired Abe for a plumbing job. He's our go to guy and always comes out within an hour or two. This morning I had a clogged up kitchen sink and a basement drain back up. I can always depend upon him to arrive quickly and take care of things. He cleared both lines, and methodically double checked the flow of the sinks while cleaning up the mess from the clean out. He doesn't waste time. I called Abe.... Needed faucet and disposal installed at two separate location 1 mile apart.  I purchased faucet and disposal before calling.  His quote was $275.....PER INSTALL.  I am laughing because this guy had 5 stars.... 100 each sure but $550 for installing stuff that's already there.  Get a grip.  Vet your sub's people, don't just go with the first one and stars are not the whole story.

My husband and I discovered our kitchen sink was leaking - I knew we needed to call someone and not try and attempt anything on our own.

I opened up Yelp and Abe's was the first company that came up in my search.  I read through the other reviews and told my husband to give him a call.  

He came right over - within 30 minutes of us calling - but he came out the same day we called, can't beat that!  He came right over, looked at the problem and started to fix it right away.  He even showed my husband what the problem was!  He was finished in about 45 minutes and even wiped out the cabinet area with a clorox wipe.

Abe was really friendly and talked with my husband the entire time he was here.  As far as the price - no complaints here - it's Northern Virginia, people!  He asked us how we wanted to pay - we will absolutely be recommending Abe and/or calling him again if we run into any other issues!

Abe has come out to our house twice now for different plumbing issues and we've had excellent experiences both times. The first time was on a weekend and the second was in the evening and he came out the same day both times (within a couple hours the second time). He was professional, courteous and talked me through everything that he was doing. He wanted to make sure that I understood what was involved in the process rather than just handing me a bill when he was done. He also advised me on how to fix it myself in the future.

The price was very reasonable, especially considering he came out on a weekend and at the last minute in the evening (he was here until 7:30 tonight, he actually just left). I would definitely call him again in the future and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs a trustworthy plumber.

I found Abe through the Better Business Bureau website -- he had a A+ rating, and I can see why.  He came out immediately and removed our old dishwasher (that Home Depot refused to install because it was nonstandard) and installed a new one.  His work was quick, relatively inexpensive, and he cleaned up afterwards and even moved the old dishwasher into the basement.

Great plumber, and I will definitely use him again.

Called Abe with a major toilet issue.  In contrast to most, he offered a solution without forcing someone to come to my house.  His solution took 30 minutes and cost $50 versus much more if I needed a service call.  While I would have certainly rather had the company solve the issue, he reiterated that I could do it myself and if not, they would be happy to help.

I had a water leak at home on Sunday afternoon. Abe picked up the phone in seconds and asked for photos right away. Then we talked on the phone again and he was  at my home in 15 minutes! Imagine how hard to get a hold of other plumbers on a workday. He came on a Sunday and replaced the valves right away.
He diagnosed the issue right away, changed both hot and cold valves and cleaned up before he leaves.

I was very happy with the quote he gave me considering how much he has done.

I had called Len the Plumber earlier in the day but I sent them home after getting the quote. They didn't have the right part on their truck and their quote seemed high. Abe had the right replacement on hand and charged less than half of Len.

Another Need for Abe

In 2018, I had to call Abe's Plumbing for one problem and this week I had to once again call the man without a cape but most definitely a superhero.  My initial call was for a simple plugged toilet.  That turned into being a 5-hour epic that ended with needed to flush of our main line piping.  I will spare the details but use your imagination of a 'bad' situation and you're halfway there.

Abe is a professional in all respects; he really does care for what actions he takes in your home and in making sure your problem is solved.  We had to call him back today as the toilet once again clogged but he came, fixed it (was not the 'S' show of the other day) and left.  His prices are right in line with average if not a little better; naturally, be sure to adjust your cost expectations if your problem is bigger than what you originally cited.

As I said in 2018 and directly to Abe the other day I really wish I never had to see you but thank you for being here when I did.  If you need a plumber, you can price out others, but you're not going to get Abe.

Woke up this morning to a pipe leaking in our wall - called Abe to come and investigate since we had to shut off the whole house water until the problem was solved.  Abe arranged to stop by our house before going to another pre-scheduled job and was able to locate the pinhole leak and repair the pipe very efficiently.  Glad we were able to get the work done before more severe damage was secretly occurring.  Apparently, the plumbing business is very busy (his phone rang several times with new work) but he finds a way to make you feel like an important client, by narrowing down the problem and then explaining what caused the damage. After the drywall sufficiently dries, my husband will repair it knowing that the plumbing was well addressed by Abe.  We will recommend him to all our neighbors!

Kitchen drain was clogged and copper piping in basement had a slow leak so I decided to Yelp Plumbing service in the area. Came across Abe's Plumbing due to a  lot of reviews and 5 star rating. Called him and Abe answered right away and was able to fit me in that day. Abe would call you and gives you a heads up when he's on his way or if he's running late. Abe is very friendly and goes right to the point and gets the job done with efficiency but not sacrifice quality. My 2 year old son also enjoyed his company and was looking for him when he left. I had a leaking kitchen faucet and water valve, and I called Abe to look at it. He came promptly, and he quoted me a high figure. When I balked and asked to think about it, he said I would owe a $75 service charge for him coming out. This was never mentioned prior to his coming, and felt tacked on to pressure me to use him. He's not rude, but he is brusque. Despite these concerns I'm giving him three stars because he really seemed to know his plumbing, and he fixed the leak.

Abe just left our home and my husband and I are very pleased with his service! He switched our old and corroded water shut off valve and explained to my husband how to use it and then before he left he insured that our house was winterized!
He was efficient, put down a towel to keep our floors clean, and went about his business! We have other valves that are old and begging to go out, and we will use Abe to replace them in the future.

My toilet was clogged and my landlord's plumber was unavilable. I googled plumbing in Arlington, VA and found Abe! He was amazing! He gave me a flat rate - no extra fees. Our garbage disposal decided to reject everything I put in it. Tried to unclog it ourselves but no luck. Called Abe and he fixed it and a couple of other issues as well. Something else always needs attention.

He came within a couple of hours as promised. Fixed everything, cleaned up nicely, and left. A gentleman who knows his  profession.

He is the best, not the least expensive but the best. We have used his service one other time to clean up a mess left by another unnamed plumber.

Called Abe during Thanksgiving week, with water intermittently cascading into our downstairs bathroom. He snaked a fiber optic camera into the area where the leak seemed to originate, and determined that there was no leak in the plumbing.  He then suggested that we experiment a little bit before calling him back, because he didn't want to cut open walls.  He wouldn't even charge for it.

Following his instructions, I tested a bunch of things, and then finally noticed a crack in the backsplash grout of the upstairs shower that I'd missed.  Sure enough, that was the problem.  Five bucks worth of sealant later, it was fixed.  Honest, competent, and responsive.

Recommend Abe for your most challenging plumbing and drainage issue.  We had been gone for about two weeks.  My friend and I were cooking pasta and salad.  Upon washing our first dish,  we could see  our kitchen sink backed up and the water in the sink rose without that faucet being turned on.  It seemed like a complex drainage issue involving a shared drainage pipe and an outside onion remnant.  Amazing what accumulates in the drain when you are away.  It required Abe to use an electric powered snake about 30' long.  Abe resolved it in the middle of a football game.  I was satisfied with the service.  I felt the rates were very reasonable.

I have never written a review on about anyones service but this guy was beyond unprofessional!!!  I wouldn't give him any star but I think I have to pick at least one star.  I just wanted him to go out to my house which I rent out and look at a leaky faucet and dishwasher.  I explained to him that I didn't know exactly what was wrong and gave him the contact info for my renters.  They even agreed that he was very rude and unprofessional.  I had to call him again because even though I gave him their contact info I guess because they contacted him he didn't know who they were and he needed my permission to do the work.  So I had to call him and refresh his memory.  He proceeded to say that he doesn't fix leaky faucets and that he only replaces it for $175 plus $80 faucet.  So it could be something that could be fixed with a $20 washer but he's gonna charge me over $200???  I told him that I would like him to just go out and look at what was wrong and give me a price. I really didn't care how much it cost I just wanted it done.  He had a problem with that then proceeded to tell me that I needed to find someone else.  I hung up and he then called me back 3 times.  I don't know how other people could deal with this guy.  He sucked!

If you're very lucky, then once in a great while you will encounter someone who knows their craft inside and out, and is truly professional.  Today I had this pleasure when Abe came by for repairs.

I've known for a while that I needed my home's pressure reduction valve replaced.  I did my research, reading up as much as I could on the process to see if I could perform the repair myself.  I even watched a few YouTube videos making the repairs look easy.  However, I know ME all too well, and I knew that the video of me doing this job myself would end with me standing in my basement, wrench in hand, knee-deep in water, crying my eyes out.

So I came to my senses and turned my research into finding a good local plumber.  My next door neighbor just went through a nightmarish experience with one of the larger area plumbing services, so I was as thorough as I could possibly be.  In the end, I turned to the first Yelp return for my search, Abe's Plumbing.  And oh, how glad I am that I did.

Abe normally schedules a window, but because I would be leaving work early in order to be home, he agreed to meet me promptly at 3pm today.  Upon arriving, he quickly assessed and confirmed that the PRV needed replacement; re-quoted the same price he'd given me when scheduling; and set about replacing the PRV in an efficient, clean manner.  Upon completion he encouraged me to inspect his work, holding the flashlight on the valve while I examined for any leaks (there were none).  He then instructed me how to adjust the pressure on the valve when needed, demonstrating the process clearly and effectively.

Efficient, courteous, thorough... professional.   Everything a person needs when contracting home repairs.  I am absolutely thrilled with the service I experienced today, and will not hesitate to call Abe's plumbing again in the future.  Great job!

Honest Abe, as I will call him in this review, is truly the man.

I called Abe a while back, because our bathtub faucet was not working correctly.  It was actually spraying out water through the faucet handle!  I was thinking I was going to have to break through the back wall because maybe one of the pipes broke.

He said that the problem was most likely that we had put in a wrong piece when we were doing a minor repair, and he told me the name of the piece and its history and everything, and why the one I was looking for was better than what is currently on the market.

He said I should go buy that piece and do it myself instead of paying him a lot of money to come out (it was like after hours on a Sunday).  

Well, I looked for that piece, and it was no longer available at any Home Depots or other stores.  I searched and I called everywhere.  Nothing.  So I called Abe back, and he said that he might have one available.  

Then he gave me his home address - I couldn't believe how cool this guy is - for me to come by to pick one up.  He went out to his van and retrieved the piece, I gave him $20 of my own volition, because of his help, the cost of the piece and his troubles, and that was that.  Faucet works perfectly now!

Solid 4 stars for Abe's Plumbing.  My garbage disposal had somehow completely detached from my sink, leading to a huge mess.  I went to Yelp and found Abe's Plumbing.

He arrived within an hour with tools and a brand new replacement disposal (box was sealed up), just in case.  Good thing he did because even after he'd re-attached my old disposal properly, there was still leakage (we tested it repeatedly, and sure enough, oily/rusty liquid would drip down every time we ran the disposal.) He didn't push for a replacement: only warned me that the leak was coming from the motorized parts.  

After installing the new disposal, he showed me how to use the little wrench thing if it ever clogged up in the future.  Then he showed me the seal between the sink and the disposal.  Before leaving, he offered to leave me the old disposal (he said it might still fetch 10-20 bucks at a yard sale even though it was pretty much a hazard) but I said no thanks.

Pricing was a little expensive: but I was more than willing to pay for 1) prompt service 2) the quick how to tutorial

He's a little gruff, but hey, he knows his stuff!

Abe came right out on a Sunday morning and fixed my running hot water faucet in the bathroom sink with a part he had in his truck.  He knows what he is doing.  No fuss, no muss, get it done.  He's not cheap but I now have a go-to plumber.  Check or credit card.

9/2017 - update - Abe installed a new toilet, vanity and faucet in my powder room and I was happy with the work.  I went with someone else however to do the exact same work with the exact same materials in my main bath because Abe was unable to give me a solid estimate.  My new plumber did the same quality of work for 1/3 the labor cost.  ONE THIRD!  Abe does quality work right away, (he has no problem with Sundays), but when it comes to estimates and pricing it helps if you are an experienced horse-trader.  I'm not so, Chad at Chandler Plumbing is my new go-to plumber.

I called Abe on a Friday evening about our ancient disposal that quit working. He asked me to send some photos and gave a very reasonable quote for replacing the unit, but warned me that it looked like the drain piping had issues that would likely raise the price. He came over the next morning and confirmed that the existing drain exit was above the disposal out-pipe, which would cause problems. He quoted a fairly steep price to make everything right, but gave me the option to install the disposal without fixing the drain pipes at the lower cost. I chose to have him do the job correctly and he was quick and complete about it. Overall, Abe provided amazingly quick service and good value.

Shower tub would not drain on a Sunday.  What a way to end the weekend.  Looked up yelp and saw Abe's plumbing.  Was thinking who would come out at 5 pm on a Sunday.  Within 10 minutes, I received a call back from Abe's plumbing and within 30 minutes, he was at the house.  Fixed out bathtub clog and the price was not too bad.  Very impressive with the responsiveness and the within 30 minutes Sunday service.  I don't usually write review but felt like I have to pass this along to that yelp community.  Abe's Plumbing is now on my phone's contact list.

I called Abe first thing in the morning after trying to fix a backed up tub with vinegar and baking soda.  This took more and Abe promptly showed up within 2hrs.  He came with supplies and got to work to clear the water within minutes.

I went down to my basement this morning only to find that my sump pump was overflowing and the room in which my sump pump is stored, as well as one other room, was flooded.  I was very concerned that if the issue didn't get fixed immediately, my whole basement could get flooded as we had just had rain the entire day yesterday.  I called Abe because I had called him once before about a frozen pipe and he had given me advice as to how to fix it without having him come out (and his advice was sound - I was able to thaw the pipe without having any further damage occur).  Abe told me he could come within the next hour and he gave me a quote as to how much it would cost to fix the issue (before I even asked I might add).  Abe actually arrived within a half hour and had a new sump pump installed within a short time.  He then recommended a couple of companies I could call to have the water cleaned up in the room that was flooded.  I called the companies he recommended and was able to get one of them to come out within a few hours.  If not for Abe's quick service and his recommendations, I am certain I would have had far more damage to my basement.  Thank you Abe!!!

Abe's Plumbing - Excellent Service

We had two toilet flushing issues and Abe was quick to respond and very upfront on the cost before he even arrived.  I had called very early in the morning and Abe was at our house in less then a half hour and working the problems.  On one toilet, he diagnosed the issue and explained to me our options without just doing unnecessary work and charging me for it.  His costs were very reasonable and definitely a Value for Your Dollar.

I'm a service kind of person.  I don't mind paying more for excellent service with quality.  More importantly, I dislike it when you are getting service where people just don't care or take pride in their work.  Abe's expertise, workmanship and quality of service bring a smile to my face.  You don't see this type of work effort these days.  We are very pleased and recommend Abe's Plumbing for your plumbing needs.

I called Abe after another plumber left when he came and realized he would have to go into the crawl space of our house to fix the pipe which serviced the hose bib.  Abe was friendly and immediately went into the crawl space and came out and gave me a quote for the work and explained the problem to me.  

I thought Abe would have to schedule another visit to do the work, but I approved the price and he started right away to cut a new pipe and solder it.  He went into the crawl space multiple times, never complaining.

Abe was thorough and gave me tips on what to do in the winter.  The price was not cheap but I felt it was fair for the amount of work required. I gave him a nice tip for the extra effort...I would highly recommend him for any plumbing service because he goes the extra yard!

Broken glass went down the disposal and I called Abe. (This happened on a Saturday morning.) He arrived within 90 minutes as he said he would and fixed the disposal within minutes. He explained what he did and said the next time I could call him and he would walk me through it over the phone. The fact that he was so responsive, keen to repair instead of replace the disposal and willing to show me how to deal with the issue myself in the future is so refreshing. He's honest, prices his services fairly and super responsive. I'm glad I called him!

This gentleman is AWESOME!!  We own three homes in three different states, so we have plumbing issues several times a year.  I have never had a better experience with any plumber.  I called Abe's on a Saturday morning as I had just returned to Virginia from one of our other homes to discover a small leak under my kitchen sink.  Our regular contractor was unavailable, so I called Abe based on the Yelp reviews, hoping he would be available in the weekend.  He answered right away, listened attentively to my explanation of the problem, and then walked me through a fix for testing what he suspected was the problem and helping me solve that.....a loose connection on the pullout sprayer.
No trip charge, no outrageous emergency charge, all of which he could have done......just an honest, kind, professional wanting to help.  He refused my offer to send him a check for his expertise, but he declined.  It was super refreshing in this day and age to stumble onto such a fine, competent person.  He definitely is my go-to plumber in this area!

We had a similar experience to all of the other 5-star reviewers.  Called Abe expecting no answer at 5:30pm on  a Tuesday about our dishwasher leaking into the basement, and he was at our house an hour later, as promised.  He diagnosed the problem, explained everything, and is finishing the job today.  We'll definitely call him first in the future.

Added bonus - Abe may be the most cantankerous human being on planet earth.  It's pretty funny.

Called Abe on a Saturday for a failed washer supply valve. I'd checked the plumbing just days earlier (prior to delivery of a new washer and dryer) and everything seemed fine. However, when the new washer was delivered, Murphy's Law took full effect, and the gate valve completely failed and wouldn't close at all. I called Abe because his reviews frequently talked about how quickly he responds to customers. And I cannot overstate how true those reviews are. After I called Abe and talked to him about the issue, he was at my house to replace both the hot and cold washer valves within 15 minutes of our call. No exaggeration. It was rather impressive (even more so because this was just a couple days after our last snow). I will admit, as others have indicated, that he was a bit more pricey than some of the quotes you may receive from other plumbers. However, I wanted the job completed quickly and reliably, so that I could immediately install my new washer, and deliver the old one to a family member in need. And to be perfectly fair, I called him early on a Saturday morning--well outside of normal work hours. I fully expected to pay a weekend/emergency-type rate, and was willing to do so. All this said, I'll definitely call Abe again for any plumbing work I have. He was friendly, professional, and got the job done quickly.

Experienced, professional, competent, and the most reasonably priced plumber I have found in the Alexandria area.

I first called Abe for a plumbing emergency the day before Thanksgiving. He came immediately and was incredibly helpful in snaking our main sewer line. Other estimates I had for the service were at least $125 more than Abe charged me, and he knew how to do it without removing the toilet from the floor, which would have incurred additional charges. The cap for my home's clean-out sewer access was also rusted shut - Abe was able to remove it and replace it with no problem.

I have since called on Abe for other plumbing services, and he's been great every time. Highly recommended.

Noticed a pipe connected to the hot water heater leaking. Ugh!!  Called Abe he came the same day and replaced the connection that was leaking as well as another valve that was corroded. Abe was fast, efficient, and fair with pricing.  Today is my nephew's bday party and we were hosting at my home when our drain in our kitchen decided to clog.  My father in law worked for 2-3 hours trying to clear the stoppage before I began looking for plumbers.

After calling a few plumbers in the area, I came across Abe's listing on Yelp and decided to give him a try.  He was the only one that was able to make a emergency trip to my home and mind you, on a Saturday.  He made an exception to service my home which was outside of his service area and arrived in less than 30 minutes.

Upon arrival, I was not home but Abe had already started working on clearing the stoppage and noticed the garbage disposal and several pipes were old and improperly installed.  He spend more time on correcting the pipes than clearing the stoppage.

In the end, Abe was fair with his pricing and was detailed in showing me what the issues were and how he would correct them.  

I wish I had my original log in with my 300 plus reviews but for whatever reason, I am unable to recover the password.  I am posting his information no my facebook account as well.  This is my way of showing appreciation for his quality of work and willingness to serve his customers.

Abe came over to fix our garbage disposal the same day we called. He called and quoted us a price before coming over. When he arrived (a full 45 minutes early!) he quickly fixed the garbage disposal, then also made a quick repair to one of our toilets, then taught my husband how to do both those repairs so we wouldn't have to call him again. For all that, the charge didn't increase over the original quote. My husband liked him so much he tried to give him an extra $20 just for being awesome.

Abe lived up to his reputation!  I called yesterdat after reading the reviews on Yelp, he gave me a general cost estimate and he arrived promptly at 9 this morning, after calling at 8:45 to ensure I was home.  Efficient yet thorough, pointed out things to watch in the future yet didn't try to upsell me today. Fixed what was need, no fuss no muss.  Done with shower leak and new garbage disposal in 1.5 hours.  He'll be back next week to replace a toilet and check out our pressure valve.  Trustworthy, dependable and reasonably priced for the work .

If your faucet leaks, look at YouTube videos.

If weird stuff happens a little too much in your bathroom, like strong odors even though its clean, Call Abe immediately.  He will diagnose problems that others can't and work through on the same day what needs to happen.

I'm glad there are so many reviews that speak highly of Abe's Plumbing, but the experience I had was not like these other 5 star reviews.  How is this possible?  Makes me wonder if he treats existing customers in a different manner than potential new customers.  Anyways,  I want to provide some perspective on what I've experienced and the service I received.  I made a call to Abe's Plumbing in the summer (while we had all of the rain) and mentioned to him that we had recently gotten our hardwood floors done in our home and needed one of the toilets fixed due to the toilets not being level or set based on the pre-existing flooring we had.  While Abe was prompt with his service, called me and said that while he had a plumbing emergency, he would make his way over to provide us with a quote and diagnose what needed to be done.  Fair enough.

Abe arrived at our home, and took a brief (as in less than 15 minutes) look at the situation and told us that more work needed to be done, he went downstairs and saw the actual pipe of the toilet and mentioned he would have to cut the pipe, add additional items (I can't recall exactly because I'm not well versed in plumbing speak), and then would finally be able to 'fix our situation'.  First, that is a HELL of a lot of fixes for such an issue which I thought was suspicious.  He quoted us 10x the amount that the plumber that we typically call eventually would charge us.  I mean the amount was outrageous and we are no strangers to how much solid plumbing fixes cost - but this was damn near insulting. I don't mind hearing quotes and understanding different levels of effort for tasks.  I understand the concepts behind that.  But, there is a bigger problem here.  It turns out (which I already knew before the door closed as he exited) he INCORRECTLY diagnosed this problem and potentially created cascading effects which could be bad for those homeowners that just assume such tasks take a lot of money because they are not educated in certain areas.  Well, we aren't those customers and I feel that this should be stated for those who might not have enough experience. This is unacceptable and the perfect way to help me not recommend a service based upon the inability to not accurately assess a situation based on your years of experience and credentials as a certified plumber (or any service for that matter).  I would question the ability to assess the situation and do the job, and secondly, it makes me doubtful of your ability to say that you need more time to investigate OR you have a plumbing emergency (like he said he did) and didn't have the time to look at my issues today instead of trying to make a quick buck or two.  I hate services that do that.  

The good thing is Abe's plumbing service helped me confirm that this is why people have dedicated servicers and run back to them after experiences like this.  It also helps me provide feedback on here, new homeowners, and other forums (including non-profits that rank these sorts of things).  It's a shame I reached out AND wasted my time with this plumber.  After my main plumber looked at it, he was in shock at how someone with such a client base and such certifications would make such a recommendation and potentially cost (potential and existing) customers more on unnecessary and questionable 'fixes'.

I do NOT recommend this plumber.

We recently purchased a home in Alexandria which needed a bunch of work. One unexpected issue was our main waste line which had a crack.  Luckily a workman noticed it when he was in the crawl space and brought it to my attention.  I live out of state so needed someone to go by the house and evaluate the effort required to repair it.  My first call was to a well know plumber who went by the property and said that the waste line was a total mess.  After some questioning on my part it seemed like he had not even looked at the crack which was right on the front of the pipe.  I decided to use Yelp to check them out. It appears that they were know for making the issue bigger than it seemed in order to overbill.  
After checking out a few results on Yelp I called Abe.  His reviews were all accurate, he evaluated the cracked pipe and presented a simple solution to fix it. The next day he came back and fixed the waste line in a few hours.  Price was fair for the work that needed to be done.
I only spoke to him one the phone and Abe is a pretty straight forward guy, which I appreciate.  I would definitely use him again and would recommend him to others.

Update:
I had a slow draining tub at one of the condos and called Abe. He was there in 30 minutes and snaked the drain.  Tenant was very happy with the results.  I will keep Abe on speed dial.

Ok everyone loves Abe. I've posted reviews but Yelp had removed them for some reason... Oh well, I'll do it again.
My friends and I sit around telling Abe stories. He's famous. Seriously, he's an amazing plumber. I almost feel bad calling him for the easier jobs because he will be disappointed that I didn't do it myself! He's taught me so much about plumbing over my years of having many issues. Some highlights include saving Thanksgiving, rescuing my garden, and stopping a leak that 3 other plumbers couldn't figure out.
He's not cheap but neither is his work. Common theme about all the stories: He'll get the job done right.

Noticed water dripping into a downstairs room when toilet flushed above it and called Abe on a Tuesday morning.   He couldn't come that day but was able to come the next afternoon when an appointment opened up and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem.

While he was at the house, I also asked him to look at some leaky shower faucets.  Much of my plumbing is old (house is 60 years plus), but Abe was able to fix things with some effort.

Less than a week later, I noticed my water turnoff value was leaking with dripping around handle and gave Abe a call. Again, he was able to squeeze me in and was able to fix things, even though spaces in which he had to work
were very tight.  I was really glad to get this done, so that there wouldn't be some later disaster involving main water pipe coming into the house.

Abe does a great job, and I highly recommend him.  He is very clear in explaining what needs to be done, will answer your questions, and gives you a firm price.    

Abe has been at this for a while and knows what he is doing.  I'd much rather go with him than one of the local plumbing chains (which seem expensive as they always seem to find ways to add cost to their job).  He'll get the job done.

Had water backing up from a blocked line after a shower, and it overflowed into my ceiling below it causing some minor kitchen flooding. Called Abe at about 6am on a Sunday. He actually picked up and told me he could be out there between 8am-12pm. Abe showed up about 9:30am and got right to work. He had everything flowing in a little over an hour with extensive snaking. While it wasn't inexpensive, Abe gave me the rundown of of options and this was the least invasive one. Aside from the quick resolution, I was most excited about him actually answering the phone and being on site a few hours later on a Sunday morning.

I chanced an early morning 7am call to Abe and was pleased when he picked up (I wouldn't have blamed him for telling me to get lost that early). I explained my problem with a clogged kitchen sink drain, and he said he would be able to come by that morning. The drain needed to be snaked. (As I suspected.) He was upfront and fair about pricing. He was there by quarter to 8, and the drain was clear and fixed by 8:30. He was a real pro and a pleasure to work with. Definitely calling Abe again.

Abe to the rescue, again!  We had a leaking faucet in our laundry room and Abe put in the fix.  We've lived in the area for four years, and this is our second home built in the 70s--obviously, plumbing issues will arise.  As always, he was efficient, professional and his workmanship was first rate!  
That said, almost above all the other attributes of his work is that his work is guaranteed.  If he fixed it and the repair fails, if you call, he'll be right back to give it another shot.  
Bottom line, all plumbing issues are stressful, but knowing that he is only a phone call away and will be at your house as soon as possible, makes him our go-to guy.  We always call Abe!

Did not use them but really appreciated the honesty when I called to get an estimate to look at dishwasher leak. The tech suggested I get an appliance specialist to look at the dishwasher to save money since the plumber would cost more to come out and diagnose issue. I have used Abe three times in the past two years as a renter at two different properties. Very pleased with Abe.  Very professional.  You can tell this man is genuine, as he positively and efficiently represents himself, and his company.

Our bath tub faucet had a leak, and was wasting water with a continuous drip drip drip.  Turned to Yelp for recommendation and was impressed with the other reviews for Abe, so out he came in less than an hour.

Arrived, we talked the issue through and proposed the solution.  Now here's what he quoted me. $75 just to come out there and look. If we agreed to do the work, he waives that fee, and then you just pay the repair charge plus parts.  I was a little surprised at how expensive he quoted the job, but after some back and forth we settled on a number that was reasonable.  I did appreciate that.

Once he got to work, there was no messing about.  Bing bam, job was done.  No more leak.  He even offered advice on another project and was helpful in that regard.

Would definitely use him again.  In fact, seeing as how I broke a pipe in my wall last night attempting to replace the sink, I'm going to call him right now...

Well he came out again and helped fix that broken pipe.  He seemed to be very busy, and came across in what I am now able to recognize as his usual no-nonsense manner.  But the work was done quickly, and I have no complaints.

Abe is awesome! Saw the positive YELP reviews and gave him a call Tuesday morning and he asked ME what time was good for me! (What?!?! A service call at MY convenience?!?!) I said anytime after noon and he was there at NOON on the button! Seriously! He fixed a broken pipe inside the wall of our house, a leaky toilet, and replaced a faucet for us...all in under 2.5 hours! Fast, friendly, professional, and REASONABLE PRICE for his services. He called back promptly and, since we apparently live near each other, he even invited me over that night to pick up some of his tools to try to fix the issue myself (for cheaper!). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to to do so, but Abe stopped by the next morning to take a look. I called Abe on a Sunday at around 7pm after fighting a terrible leak all day-I only planned to try to schedule appointment for Monday but Abe offered to come right then (ON A SUNDAY EVENING!) I asked if there was a higher weekend charge and he said no, same as weekday charge -and he told me up front what the base cost would be to find the leak. He arrived very quickly, found the source of the leak, fixed it, and explained some structural repair we need to make to the wall box holding the hot and cold water valves in utility room to avoid this happening again. I cannot explain how happy I was with Abe's service. Just the fact that he was willing to come on a WEEKEND EVENING for no extra charge was unheard of. He was very professional, efficient, and we are thrilled to find a plumber we will feel very comfortable calling again. I used the yelp reviews to decide who to call, and he exceeded my expectations by far. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ABE. A+++++.

If you are looking for an excellent plumber, look no further.  We have called Abe for plumbing services several times over the last few years, and he is a wonderful, reliable professional.  Every time I've called, he has personally answered his phone and he has arrived at my home within an hour.  He always does the job quickly and well.  We had two toilets leaking at the base and Abe fixed the wax seals to resolve the issues.  Last year, we also purchased a large shower panel to replace our old fixtures, and Abe installed it with no issues.  I tell everyone if you want an old-fashioned plumber - someone who gets right to business and gets things done right - definitely call Abe.

I can't speak more highly of Abe and his work. He is a great plumber, responds quickly, and stands behind his work. He replaced our regulator more than 6 months ago and I called him today because of low water pressure and I thought it was due to the regulator. He came within a few hours on a Saturday to check it out. He cleaned all of the faucet heads and checked every bathroom as well as the kitchen, tested water pressure and went under our sink to figure out the issue. It ended up that it  is simply a water faucet issue in the kitchen. After he finished he offered to replace the faucet for a reasonable fee but also said we could do it ourselves. We decided to do it ourselves. Abe didn't charge us for this visit, on a Saturday, after checking 4 bathrooms on three floors and our identifying the problem and offering solution for the kitchen. I would recommend him to everyone.

Fantastic!  Had one of those oh no moments when a refrigerator ice maker feed line started to leak and not only did the local shut off not work, but the main shut off for the house was also frozen.

I called Abe and he agreed to be at my place within 25 minutes.  Once there he promptly assessed the issue, was able to fix the main shut off valve issue and stop the leak all within two hours of me calling him.  

The workmanship was top notch and he didn't try to sell me on services beyond what I needed immediately.  On the pick two of three, Abe is Fast and Good.  I'll definitely call him the next time I need plumbing work

Highly recommend. Called up because I had a sewer gas smell that I couldn't find. He was upfront about no point in him coming unless there was something more specific. I told him about a wet spot I found.
He arrived. Told me the wet spot had nothing to do with the smell. Found the source of the leak. Also found the floor drain I couldn't find (the source of the gas).

I will definitely call him the next time I have a plumbing issue.

I used Abe's plumbing recently for water leaking into my garage. Abe came and looked at the toilet (which was our suspected source of the leak), but quickly determined the leak was actually the result of an improperly installed tub. He neatly cut into the garage drywall and was able to fix the issue with no damage or disruption to the newly remodeled bathroom, which I was very happy about. He even showed us the damaged screw that had been mis-installed during the reno by our other (re: former!) plumber.

Abe was prompt and professional, and I will call him when I have plumbing issues in the future.

Abe Came over identified the clogged drain, snaked the drain and was done in 20 mins. He was so positive and clearly loves what he does. I will always have him on speed dial if we need anything in the future.

Abe did a great job - he provided very fast service, but the cost was a premium (I think because he gave a quote over the phone).  

He showed me how the entire job was done, and brought me in at key points to make decisions as the work proceeded.  Also, his price was about 60% the price of other quotes I got for the same work over the phone- and there was no pressure for upsales, etc.

He did however break my tile during install (which was failing) - and I didn't realize the work-level required to replace those tiles. I wish I could give him a higher review, but looking back the cost was arguably 30-50% higher than it should have been. Again, the cost was based on a phone quote - now I know to pay for the quote and save in the end.

Abe's plumbing was AWESOME! I called for a backed up kitchen sink and he came within 30 min (after only getting answering services or no answer for several others). He prepped the area and laid clothes down to avoid making a mess and had the pipe snaked and cleared in only about 30 min. He was methodical! Did a great job, incredibly honest, and very fair. I highly recommend him!!!

After moving into our new home in November 2017, we started noticing a constant, annoying drip from the shower tub spout.  A poll of our other homeowner friends indicates the fix may be as simple as replacing a broken cartridge.

Rookie mistake #1 -- We should have probably tried to replace the cartridge ourselves before calling a plumber.  There are a plethora of YouTube videos out there on fixing just about anything and this type of task is pretty straightforward we understand now.

Rookie mistake #2 -- We searched Yelp for a plumber instead of other more home repair-focused sites like Angie's List.  Subsequent to this experience with Abe, we've converted to searching on Angie's List for all of our home repair contracting needs.

Rookie mistake #3 -- We took Abe's quote at face value without asking for an itemized receipt.  Over our initial phone contact, Abe asked for a picture text of the shower tub spout, gave a quote after looking at the picture, and he stuck to the quote once he punctually showed up.  Although we had to call Abe back for a follow-up visit because we had some issues after Abe replaced the cartridge, ultimately our shower tub spout was fixed.

Although we appreciated Abe not up-charging us, we also had no idea that replacing a broken cartridge would cost $325, or what all of that cost entails.  It was not until we asked for an itemized receipt on his follow-up visit that he gave us the breakdown of the cost:  $300 labor, $25 parts.  For the 45 minutes that he spent with us the first visit and the 15 minutes on his follow-up, we're still really not sure that was worth $300.  Again, refer to rookie mistake #1 above for an alternative to spending $300.

Finally, we echo some of the comments already left.  We would describe Abe as straightforward rather than rude or brusk.  He arrived quickly and did a followup visit (at no charge) when we continued to have issues.
Abe definitely asked for the water shut off the first thing he came, and he definitely tried to sell us a pressure reduction valve for $1,200.  Another plumber we hired later on tested our water pressure, and told us that although our house has an above average water pressure (normal is 80 psi and ours is 100 psi), it is not extreme (120 psi), and we do not need a water pressure reduction valve that only has a 50% chance of actually making any difference in the wear and tear of our pipes.

Bottom line:  Abe fixed our plumbing issue but we did not hire Abe again.

This guy is the REAL DEAL.   In today's age of small businesses, its soooo heartwarming to know some people are still true to integrity and scruples.

Abe spent an hour walking me through my situation at home as he was on another project at the time and even recommended I call another plumber and he would continue to assist me over phone.

Well those weren't just words.  This person spent at least two hours on the phone with me helping locate valves and main lines and shutoffs all for free, knowing well he wouldn't be getting paid.

Honest Abe (as I like to call him) responded quickly, arrived on time, assessed the problem, and explained it. When I said okay, I trust you, he proceeded to point it out to me and demonstrated it since I wasn't understanding. I was floored! No body takes the time to educate their customer anymore! After Abe fixed the problem he even showed me the old parts he took out and the new he put in. We have called him for several other problems since that first one and his service is consistent. Fast response. Quick appointments. On time. Does exceptional quality work. And has fair pricing. I will definitely call him again if we ever have the need and I highly recommend his services!

Abe came out to my place to deal with a clog that was causing my sink to back up whenever I used the dishwasher or laundry machine. He had to snake the pipe around 38 feet or something of that nature. I liked that he got the details about the issue over the phone when I initially called him and stuck to the price he quoted. He also shared some ways to prevent build up in the pipe given the nature of the setup in my apartment. I would recommend him again as he was up front, professional, courteous and got the job done.

Quick & efficient service.  Arrived within an hour of call.  Was trying to help me diagnose a water stain on our ceiling.  He took the time to really dig in and  find out that it was the gasket from the overflow on the tub.  Fixed it and did some other quick plumbing repairs around the house.

My wife clogged up our sink.  We tried to fix it ourselves first like we always do but nothing worked.  I called Abe around 9 AM one morning and by 3 PM he was at our house doing his work.  I wasn't home but our renter was and he said that Abe was pleasant and efficient.  

He charged us $250 whereas the other highly rated plumber that I found on Yelp told me it would be AT LEAST $500 for the same job.  I highly recommend him, and while I hope we don't have to call him again for a long time, it's nice to know that there's a solid plumber nearby.  Now $250 sounds expensive but if it's 1/2 of what the other guy is charging, that's a bargain in my book.

For what it's worth, he's a one man band so when you call you actually get to talk to him directly.  A few of the reviews on here have noted that if he can tell you what to fix over the phone he might just do that.

I live in Arlington and had a kitchen sink that had a blockage.  I called after reading the reviews and was serviced within 1 hour. Can't beat that.  I was given a price which was much less than what other plumbers had quoted me.  Abe came in and went right to work and explained what he was doing.  Made me feel confident that the problem was going to get fixed.  I would recommend Abe for your plumbing needs.

Abe is definitely one of the most standup businessman I've ever encountered. I called in to set up an appointment to get someone to come by to fix a kitchen disposal that none of my roommates or my landlord could fix. He asked me a couple diagnostic questions is the machine whirring?, etc. and then said that the issue is quite common, and that I don't need to have a specialist come in. He walked me through the DIY procedure to fix it, and suggested where I could get the specific wrench if I couldn't substitute it with anything in my tool bag. He even offered to stay on the line, or have me call him back after I visited the hardware store. I have to point out that Abe did all of this for free! He could have made a quick buck doing an easy task that I would have really stupid about hiring someone for afterwards. Instead, I got the kudos from having fixed the problem myself, and a trusted specialist in my rolodex who will be my first call if anything happens.

Abe came to Arlington just a few hours after I called on a Sunday morning to fix our broken toilet valve. He warned that he would charge $75 to assess the problem, and minimum $175 for fixing it. The total in the end was $175, can't complain about that! Other plumbers were quoting $350 to $500 (because they were insisting on rebuilding the entire toilet -- why??) Very efficient, left the place clean, even showed me some tricks how to fix small problems myself in the future.

Plumbing is expensive. Get a good one like Abe. I needed same day service to replace a shower's plumbing; valve, head and spout. I called early. He called me back and he was able to come mid-morning. He works very quickly and efficiently. He told me what he was going to do then did it. I thought the price was fair for same day service. I was happy to have the work done well and done in a single morning.

First time customer here. Abe replaced our 2 winter shut-off valves and the watermain. The job was time sensitive since subfreezing temps are nearing and I couldn't get the valves to close and Abe came the day & time I suggested with no issues. Our kitchen sink started leaking the day before Christmas Eve.  Not being able to use the kitchen until after the holidays would not have been fun.  Called my home warranty company and they gave me someone who wasn't even open on the weekends, and when I called back they told me they can take up to three days to contact me about fixing it.

Looked on Yelp for plumbers and Abe was at the top of the list.  Gave him a call and he said he would be there within an hour and he was!  He fixed the leak quickly and now we can cook for Christmas.  He also fixed a slow running toilet for not much more.

Wish I could recommend him higher than 5 stars, because it was night and day compared to dealing with the warranty company.

Doesn't take credit cards, but does take checks.

I will be calling him again in the future!

Our utility sink was clogged. I called several plumbers in the area. No one was available for days. Also, no one could give me an estimate. I called Abe based on Yelp reviews. This is the second time that I've gone with Abe and I'm very satisfied.  He's very honest and dependable.  I wouldn't say that he's inexpensive, but his prices seem fair compared with others and he's good about providing a price before he does the work.  He is very focused on completing the job in a way that satisfies the customer.  In fact, last time he showed me how to replace the cartridge in the shower faucet.  This time time, when I asked, he explained how freeze-proof outside faucets work.

Abe rules! We have used him three times. He provides very professional and high quality work. He is straight forward and won't up charge or passively oversell. He's good so he'll make money on the next job.

I highly recommend him.

Today, we identified a leak in the basement and called him up. He was at out house within 90 minutes and he started by identifying the problem and narrowing down all possibilities. He found the problem quickly and then gave is two options - 1, replace the small pipe that had the crack or 2 replace the larger pipe stem which would have been twice as much. He told me all the pros and cons and I asked him what he would do and he said replace the smaller one.

Abe is as honest as could be. Please use him. Such a great guy.

The experience with Abe was phenomenal, within 15 minutes of calling he was in our home, with a mask and was not only able to fix the problem, but he helped us with another major issue that we just lived with for years that others were not really able to fix. At 9 PM on Sunday night our kitchen started flooding after we turned on the dishwasher. The garbage disposal had stopped working and stopped draining.

I called Abe, who for free, talked us through opening up the garbage disposal and freeing the obstruction.

My basement just flooded after a heavy downfall.  As a new homeowner I'm new to this!  After the rain stopped and I finished mopping up everything, I immediately called Abe (found his number on Yelp).  He walked me through several possibilities over the phone before ultimately deciding my gutters are likely clogged and the pump was overwhelmed due to the excess water pouring off of my roof down the steps to my basement door, which is where the water was flooding in.  Next step is to have my gutters checked!!  Abe was a huge help doing all of this over the phone with me, explaining things along the way (as I said, I'm new to all this!).  Best part...he didn't charge me!  I'll definitley call Abe for every plumbing issue I have in the future!

I had Abe come out to replace a pressure reducing valve (actually, he just left). He was very responsive and came out the same day.

He's got a tough exterior, but he's a good guy. He was very knowledgeable and professional; as far as I can tell he did a great job. Afterwards, he showed me how I can adjust the water pressure throughout my house. His price was fair, and I would use him again.

I had a clogged drain in the driveway of an old house that's probably been clogging and clogging for fifty years. Abe came out and spent an hour and a half working and couldn't fix the problem. He told me he couldn't fix it, and gave me some suggestions for finding someone who could. I appreciate the honesty and not being strung along by someone pretending to be able to do something he really isn't able to do. The price was very reasonable for the amount of work he did. I would definitely call him again.

This is our 3rd job with Abe.  We first had him come out immediately after moving in to fix a slow draining shower.  At that time he couldn't find a shut-off valve anywhere in our house and helped us (at no cost) locate the shut-off valve out by the street in case we ever needed it.  Next time he came, he fixed a leaky faucet in another bathroom and could have charged us for a whole new set up but knowing that we would be remodeling in the next couple of years, found a way to fix the original plumbing but offered, if it didn't work, to apply the price we paid to a replacement.  At that time he also tracked down our in-house shut-off valve.  It was quite a bit of detective work and we were so appreciative!  This last job, we had him come out to install two mixers for a double bathroom remodel.  He gave us a deal because my husband will install the final fixture.  He was incredibly responsive, gave us advice on the best brand of fixture and had the job done in no time.  We will not use anyone else but Abe!
