Fixer is a public benefit corporation and certified B-Corp, founded by some of the same people who founded GrubHub. We are all homeowners, DIYers, parents, and professionals like you. Our team consists of 50+ (and growing) men and women dedicated to making the home repair and maintenance experience simple and pleasant, while also providing real, sustainable career opportunities for men and women in the communities we serve. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Chicago, IL, Fixer is now servicing Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Seattle. We are growing fast with more cities to come!
ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER
Fixer is not Mike's first foray into entrepreneurship: after he graduated from MIT with degrees in electrical engineering and computer science, a quest to order pizza online led him to cofound the food delivery service GrubHub, which he led from 2002 to 2014. As GrubHub grew--and with it, the gig economy it helped create--Mike realized that even when pursued full time, gig-based jobs are kind of a dead-end for those seeking long-term career growth. The gig economy is a bit of my Frankenstein's monster and Fixer is an answer to that--it's a very intentional, W-2 employee, career-oriented model. Mike details his professional evolution in a memoir, Hangry, to be published in 2023.

Fixer will be my first call for any home fixes needed in the future based on the great experience I had with the installation of a ceiling fan and Ring security camera/floodlight. The repair person clearly communicated everything each step of the way and answered my many questions that came up in the process. They keep you informed via text about the expected time of arrival, all costs associated with the service, and a detailed itemization of services performed. On top of that, I am very pleased with the actual work performed. This has been my best experience with any home repair/installation I have ever had.
Very convenient service! Was easy to register and book. The Fixer was on time and did a good job fixing my kitchen cabinet. Nice guy and worked quickly. Overall very satisfied with the work. Would use them again.

I needed help with track lighting I couldn't reach. I found Fixer, called and was given a time the next day. I had a couple of questions and the response was almost immediate.
Everything is handled online and they are very conscientious regarding COVID parameters. Orion was very knowledgeable and explained things as he worked.
He was on time and very efficient in his use of the time.
I set up an appt and it was a no show he call once to reschedule later that afternoon and again a no show. He secant a txt message to my landline when i original spoke to him the landline. If you are looking for reliability same your dime

Orion was incredible. He hung our TV, hung a shower bar, mounted our headboard and helped hang a large framed picture. I would highly recommend him. Everything was at the perfect height and done right the first time. He was meticulous with the measuring and we couldn't be happier.
This is the first time I've used Fixer - great experience. Quickly installed my new range hood, even salvaging a small cord guide from the old one that the new one was missing. They clock in and out via phone apps, so the charges reflect the time they are working. I'll use Fixer for my home projects moving forward. Great job!
I needed a handyman in a pinch. The folks at Fixer were available the next day. The booking process was professional and seamless. Our Fixer was super friendly, experienced and professional. He provided a very high quality of work at a reasonable rate! I love the business model too - mixing the chance to have an ongoing fixer you can use with the scale and professionalism of a larger company. I love the idea of their subscription models as well - great option.

I was having some issues with kitchen lighting and couldn't figure out why they weren't working. I was able to schedule a same day appointment with fixer. My fixer was super friendly and efficient and easily resolved the issue for me!

I'm signed up for Fixer's monthly maintenance program and it's been great so far. I love the customer service, and especially that I can text with the concierge. I've had a few different fixers now and they've all been lovely and most importantly extremely knowledgeable, covering a broad range of issues.
Tim was very responsive. Very nice and efficient. Will definitely call again and highly recommend.
I absolutely LOVED my experience with Fixer! I scheduled a free estimate and walk through for my shower door repair with Fixer on Yelp - the process was so easy and the Fixer team immediately reached out to me via text to confirm my appointment. I recently bought a replacement front loader dryer but wanted to use my own pedestal base because I don't like wasting money or metal. I knew it would fit but the seller wouldn't install the new dryer on an old base. Enter Fixer! I obtained the brackets I needed and hired a two man Fixer team. The dryer was professionally installed on the base in minutes and I saved hundreds of dollars. When I replace my front loader washer, I'll do the same thing. Fixer isn't just for emergencies, make it a part of your planning.

I had an electrical issue that seemed simple but ended up being quite complex. Fixer had to send an electrician out twice and didn't charge me for the second time due to not being able to fully fix the issue. They were honest and upfront about what needed to be done and that it was not something within their capabilities. I appreciated that they didn't string me along and provided a few referrals.

45 minutes before the scheduled service they cancelled and rebooked me for the following day. The next day, 30 minutes before the scheduled service they told me the estimated time moved out 2 hours and they would keep me informed. I have to travel to the house where the work was to be done and have other things on my schedule. They wasted my time and I gave up on them. Great model, poor execution.
The Fixer, Nate, was very pleasant, resolved my issue, and I would gladly work with him again.
Jayme, who discussed billing with me, did not convey there was a 1-hour minimum charge until after the work was completed. This led to a surprise bill for a 15 minute visit that should have been a quarter of the cost. After expressing my concerns, he reduced the price by 50%, which is still a up-charge of 100% given the information he provided me and the services rendered. I would expect better customer service for a mistake he made, i.e. not conveying the 1-hour minimum before booking the appointment. I would not work with Jayme again.

For context, below is the message that they claim conveys a required 1-hour minimum of service:
The clock starts once your Fixer arrives. The assessment usually takes 5 mins. within the first hour of service. Then your Fixer will advise how long it will take to complete this task. We charge $119/hr prorated to the minute after each hour of service.
The after each hour of service is what is vague and confusing. It should have said something like: there is a minimum one hour charge of $119; any additional time beyond 1 hour is billed at $119/hr, prorated to the minute.
Not prepared for the project, didn't have the tools or parts and obviously wanted to charge hourly for running trips to home depot. Let the project in un-usable shape and worse off than had he not come. Do not recommend.
I used fixer on two occasions. The first time they did a great job installing a new faucet. The second time the repair guy said I needed a plumber instead. They ended up charging me despite no work being done. I think the service is easy to use, the employees are nice and helpful, but the policies are a bit rigid.
Easy, effortless and efficient. Felix and Doug did an amazing job hanging our 2 very large art pieces. They verified the height and overall placement, ensuring the position was satisfactory. We will definitely be using them again.
I used Fixer recently to install a new kitchen faucet. The mounting hardware on the old faucet was rusted and the location of the holes required some adjustments to the sink. I called Fixer, and they were incredibly easy to schedule. They had availability the following day. Maia showed up on-time, did a fantastic job, and completed everything within the time quoted when I made the appointment. I will definitely use Fixer again.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
My request stated that were now operating on a wall switch after I installed a dimmer, that had not previously worked on this switch.
When they scheduled someone the same day, I thought - great, they'll be sending an electrician out to measure the voltages, etc. this company DOES NOT HAVE ELECTRICIANS.
They were able to fix one outlet that had a lose wire but left my other outlet looking like this, and want $119 for the hour we spent together scratching our heads.
Their business model is to get a tech out quickly, regardless of whether they can actually fix your problem. DO NOT TAKE THE QUICK APPOINTMENT.
Our fixer was awesome!! Knowledgable and helpful and thorough.
Incorrect service area listed on Yelp page. 80204 is NOT in their service area, in spite of what Yelp shows. Wouldn't normally leave a review for this, but want to save others in my area the waste of time on trying to get a quote or communicate with them (they won't answer why 80204 is not included, but every zip code around it is). Unfortunately due to how Yelp's get a quote feature works, this wastes one of the few businesses it will send the quote request to.

UPDATE: TO RESPOND TO THE ALTERNATIVE FACTS
by opting out of our text notifications we were not able to inform you when we were in route to your appointment
You were able to continue texting me after opting out about project completion and payment request. So this is odd to state.
When it comes to mounting/hanging heavier or fragile objects, such as a TV, we will send two Fixers to handle the job with extra care. We do state this in our email and text notifications
Not true, this was not stated in emails or upon booking. You just assigned 2 fixers and charged me after the fact. If 2 fixers are automatic for this job, why was a quote of $119 minimum ever quoted, knowing that it would be impossible given your policy of $119/fixer?
SHADY: CHECK YOUR BILL
Booked thru thumbtack for a 2pm appointment. Fixer replied saying I have to book thru their site. So I do it all again and they confirm a window of 12-5pm (a 5 hour window).
I received about 10 email and text spams from them in the meantime, but zero contact about what time they'll actually show up.
2 fixers shows up without notice. Spends less than an hour to do the task. I even hear them discuss put in one hour yet I receive a bill for 1.78 hours.
Customer service claims we charge 119/fixer THIS IS NOT STATED ANYWHERE. It's not like I requested 2 fixers, they just showed up. SHADY SHADY SHADY.
This place is not trustworthy, hugely inconvenient, and unprofessional.
I would recommend Task Rabbit or any other service provider instead.
