I called to ask what they charge for removing and installing a kitchen sink faucet that I purchased on my own. They said they charge a basic rate of $69, plus additional charges if necessary. Again I told them I have already purchased the faucet, I just need their plumber to remove the old faucet and install the new one. In 30 minutes the work was done. No other work was needed. No water lines were replaced. No shutoff values were replaced. No work was done on the sink. Just remove the old faucet and install the new one. I fully expected to pay the $69 fee but I was totally shocked when I was told I had to also pay the standard fee for the faucet removal and installation $250.00!!! I spoke to two different people on two different days and told them I have my own faucet and asked how much do they charge in install the new one. The answer both times was they would charge $69 but could charge more if it was necessary. Why couldn't they tell me straight up it would be $69, plus $250.00? I feel like to did not give me a straight answer with the correct price. While the plumber did a great job, I'll look for someone else the next time I need any plumbing done.

Jeremy visited our home on a Saturday to snake the main line as we had some roots causing issues. He was friendly, efficient, and clean. Thank you so much for your honesty and help!

I have used B & L Plumbing twice. Both time the receptionist, Amber, was super kind and polite. I made both appointments via e-mail and she was polite and timely on both occasions. The first time we had a guy named John do a check up on our water heater and furnace, for a reasonable total of $200 dollars.
While John was in the crawlspace with our furnace, he let us know that we had a leak coming from what looked like the shower.
The next day I had an e-mail waiting from Amber asking if we'd like to have someone come out and look at the leak in the shower, I thought that was nice. We scheduled an appointment for two weeks out and the plumber came on time and was very polite, complimented our house and asked about the leak.
I was home alone (hubby was out) but he didn't make any assumptions, he spoke to me in laymen's terms without being condescending. He took one look at our shower with very cracked grout and screws in the shower pan and said, I don't need to look further, this is your problem. I asked if he would take a look in the crawlspace too and before he did it he told me he'd have to charge me a $50 service fee if he did. Most people wouldn't do that, most people would let you find out about the charge when they give you the bill! Also - he was very friendly to my dogs and put up with them being curious.
The only thing I didn't like about both B&L servicemen is that neither of them put on boot covers. I think it's a really nice touch, especially when their shoes are SO dirty.
I just read a review of another local plumbing company that talked about their boot covers and how they covered their workspace with a tarp. Since the shower is going to be a large (messy) project with traffic in and out from plumbers and tilers, I might go with the other company. It's a small thing that may be more important to me than others. Overall a good experience.

Found B&L Plumbing through Home Advisor. They gave me three options. After speaking with Carolyn--she was friendly, explained services and cost clearly and suggest I purchase the faucet myself. After getting what I needed, I called back and she made a same-day appointment.  - -  The technician, Cecil, came within the time of the appointment. He ex[plained the work BEFORE starting on anything. He was very personable, explained everything he was doing, showed me the tool Moen provided for on-going home maintenance. Also showed me the Moen stick for parts, serial number, and suggest we place it inside the cabinet door for easy reference. He also expressed concern for our disposal and instant hot tap and suggest next steps. I felt very reassured at every point in our interaction. Top to bottom my experience was flawless. Nothing could have improved the entire transaction ,,,unless Cecil would have brought cookies. (Next time.) As someone who has been a renter and home owner, but is not given to do my own home repairs, I am always concerned about hiring works...hidden costs, last minute add-on costs, etc. NOE OF THAT was even hinted at with B&L folks.

I had a leaky kitchen sink that I had already fixed before Thomas (B&L plumber) showed up.  He checked as I requested, and said it looked fine.  He also secured my garden hose faucet in the garage with two screws since it was loose.  I also asked him to take a look at the toilet in my master bathroom; it would occasionally start running for no reason throughout the day and overnight.  Thomas said that it was leaking from the tank into the bowl (no external leakage) and that replacement parts for my nice Kohler toilet would exceed $525, and that he could replace it with another Kohler for $490.  Cool, saved me a few dollars, right?

He  called someone to deliver a new toilet, and while that was being delivered, he removed my original toilet - did a very nice, clean job with no mess at all in the house, but at this point, I needed a new toilet since my old one had vanished into the truck.  The new toilet, when it arrived, was a lot smaller than my original Kohler, and it was NOT a Kohler toilet - it was a Sterling Windham toilet that looked like something that would be used in a grade school bathroom.   I checked on-line, and the same toilet was available at Lowe's for $99.  WHAT???  So, I called B&L to find out what was up with this.  [btw, Sterling is a Kohler subsidiary.  In 1984, Kohler Co. acquired Sterling for two reasons: it provided a foundation on which to build a mid-priced, full-line plumbing brand, and it gave Kohler entrée to sales through retail stores, a distribution channel that was beginning to grow rapidly.]

I spoke with Chelsea two days later (nice person, not rude at all, and trying to be helpful).  I had left a message the day after the install regarding the high pricing, and Chelsea called me back the following day.  She said that the toilet had been purchased from a plumbing supply house (she wasn't sure which one) and that it was a higher quality than the $99 toilet at Lowe's.  She made some references to brass/copper fittings vs cheap plastic that would be in the Lowe's version.  I asked for the name of the plumbing supply house so I could call and find out the cost of the toilet to B&L, but she wasn't sure which one and said that I would be happy with the toilet for years to come.  Thanks, Chelsea, for your help, but I really would like to know how much you guys paid for this toilet because I'm still not happy with the cost.

Overall, nice job by Thomas, the plumber who came to my house.  He called before he showed up, got here a little early, and spent about two hours, although at least 30 minutes of that was waiting on the toilet delivery.  Nice job by Chelsea over the phone, but she needed to provide a bit more information.

Big Thumbs-Down for B&L pricing, which was extraordinarily high for a rather cheap toilet.  Until they can prove to me that my new toilet cost them more than $300, I'm not happy.  Really not happy.

I am so grateful for the fast, efficient and friendly service I received today from B & L.  I am a first time home owner and have only been in my new place for a few months.  The master bath toilet wouldn't flush and then the guest bath toilet wouldn't flush and the next thing I knew there was water pouring out of a fan in the powder bath on the first floor.  I called B & L at 11 pm on a Friday night more or less hysterical and Sherry picked up the phone.  She was very calm and courteous.  She told me the water would probably stop soon given my description of events and to not use any more water on the second floor.  She told me she could get someone out the next day and offered to save the spot if I couldn't get someone to come out overnight.  I called her first thing in the morning and she set up Jeremy to come out.  He was prompt, arriving in the 2 hour window she set, and he called to let me know when he was on his way and would be there.  He wore a mask and I had shoe covers for him to wear since the carpet is new but he didn't hesitate to just take off his shoes and was very courteous and polite.  He explained everything, was thorough and was very skilled at troubleshooting the issue as it ended up being a kind of complex problem.  I was so lucky as a first time home owner with my first plumbing issue to have ended up with Jeremy from B & L.  He was honest, cleaned up everything he had to take apart for the repairs, gave some tips on prevention and I felt like the pricing was more than fair.  I was very nervous about getting taken advantage of and my experience was fortunately the complete opposite.  I felt like Jeremy was trustworthy, kind and genuinely wanted to help.  Thank you again for being so amazing in what felt like a desperate situation to me. I will be using B & L for any future plumbing needs and will request Jeremy.

I called B&L Plumbing for assistance with a gas stove that I wanted removed from a dining room. They were very polite on the phone, and scheduled a time for the technician to visit that was within a reasonable wait period.

Cecil showed up on time. He was very knowledgable about what needed to happen, and after providing me a quote, I agreed to the service. Cecil was so funny, kept me updated, and made sure I knew who to contact to repair the hole the stove left. He went above and beyond what I expected - and made getting rid of the stove, gas line, and various pipes a breeze. THANK YOU!

Do NOT use this company unless you want to be ripped  off!!! They charge set fees (not hourly rate for time), yet they won't tell you those prices over the phone. Since I didn't want to waste the $69 trip fee, I pushed for a ballpark figure for installing my new kitchen sink, disposal, faucet and hot water dispenser (all equipment I already had) and was told my job would be $500 max. The tech, Kevin, was very nice and professional, but his quote was $1,230. For a job he estimated would take about 3 hours...that's $400+/hour!  I said no way and he said he'd call the office to see what he could do. He went out to his truck, then decreased it to $820. That's  still $270+/hr.  Of course, I declined.... but still had to pay the $69 trip fee for nothing. Don't waste your time or money with B&L!

UPDATE: I called Olson Plumbing and Heating and they did a fabulous job. They charge $95/hour. It took 5 hours, so the cost was less than half of what B&L wanted to charge me!!    B&L's  response below is a bunch of fluff that tries to mask the real issue... their set 'all inclusive' prices are so inflated, you will end up paying double (or more!) of what a $95/hour plumber will charge you. I feel bad for people who have a leak or urgent plumbing issue, call B&L and then because they are desperate and a tech is in their home, they agree to the outrageous pricing. Save your money and call Olson or another reputable plumber that will be honest about an hourly rate. Don't fall for we'll do it for a set price, no matter how long it takes... because they definitely know about how long it will take and they are charging you an obscene hourly  rate.

I called 5 different plumbers in my area, but B and L plumbing was the only company to answer the phone. They offered me an appointment next day, came out and fix the problem all in one visit. They also have a military discount.

John at B&L called to advise he was on the way. Once he arrived, he was professional, organized and took care to keep my house clean as he worked to replace the water heater. He was able to swap out the water heaters pretty quickly. He cleaned the work area and ensured everything worked. Recommended !

I called B & L plumbing to fix a leak in my kitchen based on mostly good reviews. They sent Rob out.....BIG MISTAKE!!!! He did not investigate to find the leak in the bathroom , he assumed that it was the shower and charged my insurance company $680 to replace a drain and remove tiles from the base of the shower. He replaced a drain that didn't need replacing and he didn't do anything with the tiles. It turns out that the plumbing in tub was the was the actual problem. Rob was supposed to follow up with me to give me a quote to address the real problem, after waiting 3 days to hear from him, he never followed up and I still have a leak in my kitchen. I'm paying to have a different plumber address the issue. Bad business!!! I would not recommend using this company for your plumbing needs.

This company is dishonestly providing estimates for work over the phone and then charging double the amount after you commit to having a plumber out for $69 service fee.

I called B&L plumbing and was quoted $150 to fix the PVB backflow preventer or $250 to replace if it couldn't be fixed. B&L came out and on-site quoted me $500 to replace the part, which is twice what I expected based on the initial quote over the phone. The part itself costs less than $100 dollars so the new quote seemed unreasonable. I refused the service, but was asked to pay the $69 fee because the plumber came out to do the work. When I asked to speak with a manager, the plumber said that it was not possible and he was going to call the police if I didn't pay the $69 service fee. I had to pay but it feels like I was ripped off.

My 30-plus-year-old water heater failed on a Friday and, having recently obtained employment following a long stretch of unemployment, I was really up against it, in terms of having the time to research the pricing, expertise and (perhaps most important) the availability of staff from local plumbing companies to perform a water heater replacement on short notice.

In light of the extremely tight quarters of my 1960s-era water heater closet (not to mention, the fact that current code required the installation of a second vent in the closet door), I quickly discovered the cost of this project was going to be much higher than I'd anticipated, regardless of the company I contracted with.  So, after compiling a short list of reputable companies, with plumbers available to get the job done the next day (Saturday), I chose B&L Plumbing, and was not disappointed with my choice.

The plumber (John) did an excellent job, despite the antiquated set-up of the existing water heater and related parts.  He arrived within the scheduled 2-hour window and, three hours later, the project was completed, including the installation of the now-required second door vent -- a procedure for which some of the other plumbing companies would have had to sub-contract out for an additional fee.

Thank you again, John, for all your hard work and expertise!

We've used B&L over the last few years for projects that popped up unexpectedly.  Each time we've need a plumber, they have come through.  Excellent service, immediate response times (seriously, less than one hour from our call and Tom G from B&L was at our front door) and economical.  We will continue using them for anything plumbing related!

Landlord hired this company to change out the water heater and the plumber stole copper tubing that belonged to me. Called the company and the guy of course denied it. I was an inch away from signing a complaint with CSPD but let it go this time. I abhor lying and stealing.

We had 3 toilets replaced in our home. In this day and age of customer no service our experience was a refreshing change. B&L Plumbing has figured it out!!!From our initial call to the final details of our installation everything was spot on. Tom is a true professional who really cares about his customers and their satisfaction. Every step of the project was well executed. Shoe covers, drop cloths and no attitude, how pleasant. Tom took great care to insure that our home was left just the way it was before he arrived.

Without hesitation we will call B&L Plumbing and request the services of Tom for any of our projects in the future. This experience has restored our faith in people's ability to do a great job and take pride in what they do.

Thank you for a great experience and keep up the great work!!!

Sincerely

Our water heater broke on Thursday. I called around and settled on B and L. They were not the cheapest, but having seen their commercials, thought I would give them a try. They told me they would be at my house the following day at 2:30. I called just before 3pm and was told it was a two-hour window of 2-4. At 5 pm I called again to ask the status of my 2:30 appointment. This time I was told it was a 2-5 window and they would have the technician call me. At 7pm I called again and asked if I can expect someone to come. The woman said she would have the person call me. I asked if I should expect someone to come out because no one had called me. I further stated that if someone is not coming, that is fine, just tell me so I can move on. Before ending the phone call, I asked who I could speak to, to file a complaint. She recommended calling Monday morning.

Monday morning I called and asked to speak to the manager regarding my Friday afternoon appointment. I was told that she was busy, but that she would get my message and call me. Nothing. I called Tuesday morning asking to speak to the manager explaining that I wanted to file a complaint about the Friday afternoon appointment that I took vacation time for and that no one ever called to say they would be late, not understanding why I had to call to check on the status and why no one showed up or had followed up yet. I was told that the manager would be handed my message and would definitely call me. I told the receptionist that I was told the same thing yesterday. Nothing.

My efforts to resolve this by phone were ignored. To me, this is shows a big lack in customer service. I understand that every appointment cannot be on time, but businesses will call to say they will be late. That 20-second phone call makes a world of difference. At every turn they have demonstrated to me that their customer, their service and their word is not reliable. Needless to say, I had to go to with a different company.

My water heater failed and I called to get a price for replacement. I already had one quote from another company and that person showed me some additional items that needed to be done in addition to the WH replacement.
The person I talked to on the phone at B&L plumbing gave me a price for replacement. But I asked if someone could come out to give me a firm quote since there were other things that would need to be done.
Well, the plumber came out and gave me the quote - and then told me that if I did not choose them, there would be a $69 fee for the visit. This was never mentioned before. True, if I had been told that at the beginning, I may have not have them come out. But as soon as he said that, I decided NOT to use this company even if they had a lower price.
As the plumber was leaving, the truck broke down. He made a comment that he had told them about the truck's condition. If this company cannot keep their trucks in driveable shape to get to the customers, I wonder what other ways they are cutting corners.

I started using B&L about 3 years ago after a friend recommended them to me.  We were adding a bathroom to our basement and needed someone who could advise us about pipe placement and moving existing lines.

B&L sent out a rep to help, and when we were ready they came and jackhammered up the portions of our slab and set up the pipes.  We were told up front that we would need to have the concrete poured back in, so we arranged for that to be done the next week.  Once our walls were up, B&L came back and installed our fixtures and took great care to not damage anything in the now tight spaces of the new bathroom.

I now call on them for any plumbing needs.  Their prices are extremely competitive, they are always punctual, and they are locally owned and operated.  Who doesn't love a competent small business?!?  Awesome in my book!!!

Friendly phone rep got me same day appt. tech named Tommy came out and saw I needed new water heater from all the water on the floor and the three cracks in it and installed new one with no issues. He was very friendly, knew the ins and outs of the new model and trained me on maintenance. Great experience, very clean, and a great price.

Don't use this company.  After having them service my property in November of 2022, it is my opinion that this company does very shady work, overpromises and under delivers, tries to overcharge you and take advantage of you, bully you into paying the ridiculous prices, and feels just overall unethical to me.  I will say the service manager Chelsea is the only highlight of this...again, just my opinion based on the service they provided me and how the technician tried to take advantage of me.  I could write a three-page review on this, but I will keep it somewhat brief.  I called in and requested an appointment for an issue that Colorado Springs Utilities said was an inside plumbing issue that I had to get a plumber for (CSU only fixes their equipment leading up to our equipment).  CSU told me what part was needed and I looked it up.  When I called B & L Plumbing to schedule, they scheduled it for me and told me there was a $139 trip charge and the part needed would be about $368.  Again, I had already researched the part and found that the price at Lowe's was $18.85 and the price at Home Depot was $34.97, so B & L is way overcharging.  I get that they have to make money, but to price-gouge somewhat $368 for something that retails for $18.85, that's absurd (and in case you are wondering how I know that, I confirmed the model number on the part(s) used and it matches Lowe's and Home Depot exactly.  So I asked the B & L Plumbing person, what if I provide my own part because it's less expensive for me to buy it, and she told me I would only pay the trip charge and that covered labor up to an hour and after that, it would be billed hourly.  I said okay, that's fine.  So they came out, and the tech that came out was Kevin.  Let me start by saying, he smelled very strong of nasty cigarette smoke, like so strong that it was nauseating and overwhelming.  He was rude and not respectful at all, not to mention having a very foul mouth (not professional when we have two kids nearby).  I showed him everything, gave him a summary of what needed to be done, and gave him the parts that I got and he said they would work fine.  It took him 48 minutes of labor, and when he was done, he did ask me to test it.  I noticed he mounted one of them crooked, but I tested the faucets.  I also noticed that one part that he said he replaced looked old and rusty and not like what I bought, and I asked him to leave the old one with me, and he paused and said he would, but he didn't, so I don't know if he actually replaced it (Chelsea later assured me he did and he just forgot to leave it).  Then he tallied it up and he said I owed him $858 and change.  That was absurd.  I explained what the scheduling person told me and I told him that was more than if they just provided the part and installed it and he told me yes, that's how they price it.  He tried to bully me and he felt somewhat threatening to me, so I asked him to call his dispatcher I talked to and he said no because she doesn't know what she's talking about.  Then I asked him to call his manager, so he did.  While taking to his manager, he got angry that I wouldn't pay the $858 that he was trying to extort out of me and left with some more very foul language.  I sent an email to the company and the owner (Larry Weiker, who was unavailable from what I was later told).  The next business day, I did talk with the service manager Chelsea Boggess and she was the only highlight of this experience.  She still tried to get the full amount out of me, so I calmly explained this to her and explained my dissatisfaction, so she dropped off $100 and change, then after a long detailed discussion, she said she would go down to $650, so I finally agreed to that because I didn't have to time to have a legal battle with legal counsel in the midst of moving, so I said that was fine and settled it.  In my opinion, they absolutely overcharged me, took advantage of me, and were very unethical.  Afterwards, I ran this by another plumbing company and was told this should have cost no more than $200-$400 at the absolute most since I provided the parts.  Chelsea did send out another tech to fix what Kevin installed crooked.  So my rating on Chelsea is a B+ to an A-, and my rating on the company in general is an F.  Chelsea seemed genuinely interested in working with me and apologized for what happened with Kevin.  Anyway, in my opinion, I would suggest looking elsewhere for a plumbing company and don't ever use these guys for anything...ever.  If you have a complaint, ask for Chelsea.

Prompt and efficient service and friendly on the phone to set up appt. Technician called before arrival and showed up in time window. Diagnosed and fixed problem quickly. Pricing was exorbitant. $339 for 1  hour of work !! (No parts needed to compete the job). Surely there are other plumbing service companies in town that will offer a better value ...

sneaky - charging more than they originally quoted

While out of town, they charged my wife triple what it would be to troubleshoot a water heater. Turns out they replaced a part, and never mentioned it.  They are sneaky, I would go somewhere else.

My basement flooded in the recent rain storm and B&L sent Nick Coleman in the middle of the night on Sunday - no other plumbing shops even answered the phone much less deploy someone so quickly.  He solved the problem and went out of his way to calm a pretty desperate situation.  He returned the following day and completed the work and we couldn't be happier.  Even though my Yelp address shows California, I live right here in Colorado Springs!

We have used B&L Plumbing services since 2014.
Our house was recently on the market for sale and we had been set to close until we received late documentation/information that our house was in noncompliance for work that was completed and had not yet been cleared by Pikes Peak Regional.
B&L personally handled our noncompliance issue with Regional and was resolved within one business day. This special thanks goes out to Gene, Chelsea and Carolyn. You all were impressively patient, accommodating, and understanding to our unique situation.
Gene, you really took initiative for what was an already busy Friday for the Company's schedule, and personally made sure our house was top priority.  It is/was refreshing and encouraging to have someone be as understanding and dedicated as you all were! Thank-You!!

Service call for my garbage disposal. The tech, Tom, arrived within 30 minutes of my call in to the company. He was very pleasant and courteous. Turns out there was nothing wrong with my disposal. The pipe just became clogged by some meat chucks i tried to put down it too fast and drain had to be snaked. Fast forward...I was not happy with the price the company itself was charging ($125) just to snake my drain to clear my pipe on top of the $59 service and diagnostic charge. I almost turned the tech away, but he informed me they had a coupon on Valpak. It was for $25 off service call. Figured that was more affordable and decided to just go ahead and get it done so i could have my sink back.
Tom snaked the entire line thoroughly, not just up to the clog. He also thoroughly wiped down the under my kitchen sink til it almost looked like new.
Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the price.
Tom receives 5.
Service pricing receives 3.
