Don't use this company. After having them service my property in November of 2022, it is my opinion that this company does very shady work, overpromises and under delivers, tries to overcharge you and take advantage of you, bully you into paying the ridiculous prices, and feels just overall unethical to me. I will say the service manager Chelsea is the only highlight of this...again, just my opinion based on the service they provided me and how the technician tried to take advantage of me. I could write a three-page review on this, but I will keep it somewhat brief. I called in and requested an appointment for an issue that Colorado Springs Utilities said was an inside plumbing issue that I had to get a plumber for (CSU only fixes their equipment leading up to our equipment). CSU told me what part was needed and I looked it up. When I called B & L Plumbing to schedule, they scheduled it for me and told me there was a $139 trip charge and the part needed would be about $368. Again, I had already researched the part and found that the price at Lowe's was $18.85 and the price at Home Depot was $34.97, so B & L is way overcharging. I get that they have to make money, but to price-gouge somewhat $368 for something that retails for $18.85, that's absurd (and in case you are wondering how I know that, I confirmed the model number on the part(s) used and it matches Lowe's and Home Depot exactly. So I asked the B & L Plumbing person, what if I provide my own part because it's less expensive for me to buy it, and she told me I would only pay the trip charge and that covered labor up to an hour and after that, it would be billed hourly. I said okay, that's fine. So they came out, and the tech that came out was Kevin. Let me start by saying, he smelled very strong of nasty cigarette smoke, like so strong that it was nauseating and overwhelming. He was rude and not respectful at all, not to mention having a very foul mouth (not professional when we have two kids nearby). I showed him everything, gave him a summary of what needed to be done, and gave him the parts that I got and he said they would work fine. It took him 48 minutes of labor, and when he was done, he did ask me to test it. I noticed he mounted one of them crooked, but I tested the faucets. I also noticed that one part that he said he replaced looked old and rusty and not like what I bought, and I asked him to leave the old one with me, and he paused and said he would, but he didn't, so I don't know if he actually replaced it (Chelsea later assured me he did and he just forgot to leave it). Then he tallied it up and he said I owed him $858 and change. That was absurd. I explained what the scheduling person told me and I told him that was more than if they just provided the part and installed it and he told me yes, that's how they price it. He tried to bully me and he felt somewhat threatening to me, so I asked him to call his dispatcher I talked to and he said no because she doesn't know what she's talking about. Then I asked him to call his manager, so he did. While taking to his manager, he got angry that I wouldn't pay the $858 that he was trying to extort out of me and left with some more very foul language. I sent an email to the company and the owner (Larry Weiker, who was unavailable from what I was later told). The next business day, I did talk with the service manager Chelsea Boggess and she was the only highlight of this experience. She still tried to get the full amount out of me, so I calmly explained this to her and explained my dissatisfaction, so she dropped off $100 and change, then after a long detailed discussion, she said she would go down to $650, so I finally agreed to that because I didn't have to time to have a legal battle with legal counsel in the midst of moving, so I said that was fine and settled it. In my opinion, they absolutely overcharged me, took advantage of me, and were very unethical. Afterwards, I ran this by another plumbing company and was told this should have cost no more than $200-$400 at the absolute most since I provided the parts. Chelsea did send out another tech to fix what Kevin installed crooked. So my rating on Chelsea is a B+ to an A-, and my rating on the company in general is an F. Chelsea seemed genuinely interested in working with me and apologized for what happened with Kevin. Anyway, in my opinion, I would suggest looking elsewhere for a plumbing company and don't ever use these guys for anything...ever. If you have a complaint, ask for Chelsea.
