We hired American electrician to do some miscellaneous electrical work on our house. Cody was our tech. They did a fantastic job installing a new panel, surge protector, fan, and some outlets/switches. In our very old and very over worked home. Cody and American electrician were very thorough, clean, respectful and nice. Always showed up on time and they did everything they were supposed to do when they were supposed to do it. I couldn't be happier with this outfit. We're definitely hiring them again for all our electrical needs. Ask for Cody when you call!

So, here you are, in need of a good electrician. You must need one, or else you wouldn't be reading this review. Either that or the Yelp algorithm brought you here. Well, either way, let me give you some helpful advice: Run, run, run for the hills! Avoid this company like the plague. These guys charge more than the competition and the quality of their workmanship is just awful. Pathetic! We hired these clowns to replace our crummy 100 amp panel with a 200A panel, and add two new circuits to our service, including a 240v circuit to the garage. Where they installed conduit, it looked great. But they didn't run the ground wires in any conduit and it looks like a kid did it. Other things:
1. They ran ground through the siding and into the crawlspace to the water line. They didn't caulk the hole they drilled into the siding.
2. They left trash all over my backyard.
3. They took one of my brand-new shovels.
4. An outlet inside my house stopped working after they left.
5. After Excel came out to inspect the finished job and said my new panel needed a slip joint where the line entered the concrete, American Electrician's owner initially refused to install the slip joint. He said Excel would allow a variance. Excel said bullshit, and only then did American Electrician agree to do it, or my power would be cut off.
6. Today, about 4 months after they finished their work, I went outside to flip one of the breakers so I could cut power to my dishwasher. One problem: the breaker labeled dishwasher cut the power to my son's bedroom upstairs. I started flipping breakers and found the one labeled master bedroom/bathroom cut power to my dishwasher.
It doesn't get more amateurish than this.
Take my advice: save yourself the headache. Use a reputable company like plumbline, Topping

I hired American Electrician Company to put in some outside lighting.
The 2 side lights the  put in did a great job but one of the landscape lights they broke and refused to come out and take a look.  They said they did not do it.  I would never use them again.

I wish I could give more stars than 5! Don did an amazing job with our ceiling light install in our bedrooms, adding a surge protector onto our electrical box, and went above and beyond with helping our project be completed well and timely. I won't be calling anyone else!

They did an estimate and estimate a ridiculous amount of money, where the leading competitor was 10000 dollars lower.  Watch out for this business.

Unfortunately the previous technician that I worked with from this company was no longer there. A different technician came to my home to give me a bid on replacing lighting for my backyard. I was extremely clear that the existing electrical box may have to be replaced and new wire would have to be run since old existing wire was 15 years old and hard to get to, since the landscaping had changed.  I asked him for lighting options and he said that they only recommend one type of light for all yard jobs and that if I wanted something different I would have to provide it myself.  I find that hard to believe because different lighting has different effects and illuminated span coverage.

Furthermore when he gave me the invoice, it stated new wiring will be run, but on another part of the invoice, it stated new wire as needed.  When I questioned that part, he that he had planned on using the old wire and that if they installed a new wire it would tear up the yard because they had to use a trencher to bury the wire underground.  I told him I was familiar with those types of trenchers used to bury wire and that it was actually a blade that did not tear up the yard and that it was very easy to close after installation.  He looks surprised that I would know that and agreed that it really would not damage the yard. He then stated that if I wanted new wire throughout it would increase the price by $250.  The Technician looked annoyed when I ask him for the light options and again when I asked him why he did not bid the job with new wire in the first place since that had been requested explicitly.  His demeanor was not pleasant from the time that he showed up.  I called the company to complain and they apologized but told me that he had never had any complaints before and that there must have been a miscommunication.  The tech should not have tried to get away with using old wire and then change the bid when he realized I was on to him.  I'm disappointed that the company protected him. It was a waste of my time.

We had the BEST experience with this company as we had to re-wire most of our house and add in new outlets for a wet bar. Don, our service tech, was phenomenal and not only stopped by a few extra times to help us tweak things throughout our renovation process, but he was kind, easy to work with and kept us up to date through the entire process. We couldn't have asked for better communication, and honesty about each project. Don is the best, and I wish more of the specialty contractors we worked with were as awesome as him. I 100% recommend this company, and if the rest of the techs are as amazing as Don, I have a feeling this locally owned company will remain a staple in Colorado :-) Thank you, Don. You're the best.

Don did a great job on my project. A large non-functioning light pole was sitting dormant in my yard and a huge eyesore. Don removed it fast and now it's like it was never there. Highly recommend these guys.
