I just wanted to say thanks to Erik and the whole Wells team for a great EV charger installation experience.  Vlad and Hector did the installation and were great.  Competent, neat, and friendly.

I also want to thank Erik for suggesting looking at the Empora hard-wired charger.  Their app is great and automatically adjusts charging to the low-cost times for our PGE rate.  We signed up for the PGE EV rate which has a cost per kilowatt between 12:00 am and 3:00 pm of $0.27 versus the regular rate of $0.57 (our lowest before was $0.45). So we can plug in the car in the afternoon and it doesn't start charging until after midnight.  It should pay for itself in about 9 months.

Highly recommend this company.   The first company Qmerit sent to has had an out of pocket of $3500 (in addition to the $1k from Chevrolet).  Wells did it all for the Chevy credit (I bought the better cgarger, but didn't half to).

This company installed my EV home charging station.  The electrician was on time, friendly, and showed me how to safely use everything before leaving.  I would certainly use this company for electrical work in the future.

Kirk Fetzer of Wells Electrical is not only extremely knowledgeable and thorough about residential EV charger systems, but really cares about excellence. It's rare to encounter someone that kind and generous with their time, and go that much out of their way to be helpful.  I was impressed.

We needed a 240 outlet installed for EV charging. Kirk with Wells Electrical did a thorough assessment of what we might need, followed by a reasonable cost estimate. He scheduled the job quickly and on the appointed day Vladimir and Erick arrived right on time. They carried their tools down the steep hill, instead of driving their truck down, which made it easier for us. They quickly assessed the need, found an easy solution, identified a better place for the outlet than we had planned and hooked up the car for its first charge in its new home. They swept up the work area and carried their tools back up the hill. All, with friendliness and working quickly. If you need an outlet for EV charging, call Wells! They did a great job.

I had three jobs done in my house by Wells. They did an electrical hook up for a Mitsubishi heat pump to replace our old gas furnace so they had to run a conduit from my fuse box and dig a trench through the ceiling to the outside and backyard. I also decided to replace my old fuse box with a new one for other projects like replacing the gas stove with an electric stove in the future. While they were here, I asked them to install recessed lighting which they did. All three jobs were completed and they responded to all phone calls and texts. They hooked me up with a carpenter for all the patchwork in the ceiling, which was also well done. Overall, I had a great experience. I worked with Daniel Welton who set everything up and the main electrician at the house was Eric. Everything passed city inspection also. Although they weren't cheap, I would use them again as I had no headaches or holdups that took up my time.

Incredibly overpriced. I had a light switch replaced for $295!! Replacing a light switch doesn't take longer than 5 mins and the light switch itself is no more than $50.

Don't use this company.

Last week, I lost power in my apartment the Tuesday evening and Wednesday before Thanksgiving. PG&E couldn't fix the probem, so the property manager contracted Wells to inspect. Tony quickly responded by phone, arrived in minutes after the call, and managed to identify and fix the problem in almost no time.
He was absolutely professional, yet friendly, and I would recommend his company to anyone in need of electrical help.

They came highly recommended by a Realtor friend whom I trust, so I contacted them. This review has more to do with customer service and communications than with their electrical work because this is as far as we got. Following is the timeline of communication:

1/28/19 - I called about electrical work.

1/29/19 - I heard from employee Dan, who requested photos, which I sent. No response from Dan.

1/30/19 - I texted Dan to ask when he would be able to come by to look at the job. Never got a response from Dan.

2/1/19 - got an email from Milika, which included Estimate #19898 for this job. I responded to her on the same day: Just checking to see if the fee includes the permit. As of today, 2/16/19, she has never responded to that question.

When I told my Realtor friend about this, she suggested that I contact Tony. While I understand her suggestion to do that, I feel *DONE* with Wells Electrical. I hope Tony sees this and gets to speak to his employees Dan and Milika with regard to following through on their poor communications.

We called Wells to fix a ceiling fan we had gotten installed by another electrician a few years ago. The scheduling process was quick/painless, and the electrician they sent out (Danny) arrived right on time. He was friendly and efficient throughout the whole process (which unfortunately involved multiple trips b/c we had to buy a new fan). When he came back for the final visit, we wound up having him do a few extra tasks that we'd been putting off for a while because our previous SF electrician experiences had been less than stellar. The cost was also quite reasonable.
Everything about our experience was great, and we'll definitely be using Wells for all things electrical going forward.

If you aren't a big enough job or worth their time, apparently they don't bother to call you back. I'm sure they are good at what they do, and they came recommended by another wonderful company. But, if they don't even have the courtesy to call you back for the estimate, they don't rate any stars from me, sorry!

Extremely pleased with the service I received.  Tony and his crew were always fast, courteous, and most importantly, on time.   I had a slightly tricky issue to resolve but Tony has a good relationship with the DBI and was able to get things approved quickly and the job was done fast.

I could not have asked for a better experience.

Poor customer service and poor communication are the reasons for this review. The work they have done in the past is fine which is why I chose to give them 2 stars in instead of 1.

We've used their services before based on a recommendation and the first round was fine. Good communication and the work got done.

Tried to pull them in on another job and they didn't answer emails. I called the front office and they said they would call their guy right now and he would get back to me, never happened. Called again the next day, got the same story. Called again that following Monday and Tuesday, got the same story. This is a week of trying to figure out if they could help us or not. If they were too busy they could have just said so and I'd understand.

5 seconds after calling the 4th time their electrician gets back to me and said he never received emails and that his front office never told him that I called, wow.  The not getting the email part I can understand, over active email filters, whatever. But to call 4 times and be told that I would be contacted and then to be told he never received word from the front office is tough to take.

There are a lot of electricians in the Bay and I'm going to go with someone else. I texted Paul Fanta who I found on yelp and he got back to me in 10 minutes about scheduling.

Really impressed with everything about Wells so far. I was looking for an electrician to install a new 'smart' light switch and happen to notice one of the Wells trucks at a stoplight near my neighborhood. My first thought was how clean the truck looked - that is a good sign to me; meaning the company is detail-oriented. Appointment scheduling went smoothly and quickly and politely. The tech arrived within the appointment window and handled the job very quickly and professionally. I would not hesitate to use Wells again and certainly highly recommend them based on my experience last month.

I called them in January 2014.  Apparently this is a VERY busy time of the year for electricians.  I called five electricians -- all 4-1/2 starred on Yelp.  Two said they were too busy and call back in 3 or 4 months!  One never called back.  Tony was one who returned my called in a timely manner, came out and gave me an estimate.  Most important he explained what the work needed was (in a manner I could understand) and how long it would take.  I'm 70 years old and live in a house built in 1945.  I had an electrical system that was 68 years old!!!!!  It was a big job, and way overdue to be updated to current codes.  His estimate was $750 less than the other electrician who returned my call.  Also, the other electrician was speaking mumbo-jumbo.  I couldn't understand his explanations.

Tony's men came a day earlier, worked for two and a half days, never took a single break. They swept up after themselves.  Tony came out the day the city inspector was here to check the work.  He checked the work before she came out.

He was recommended to me by a neighbor who has several rental properties.  She said she'd used him for years and he was the only electrician she used.  I highly recommend him and his company.

Had Tony and his team do quite a few different things to our house. CAT 6 wiring, new outlet installs, Co ax cabling... Was a great experience. Super easy to explain what I wanted, how I wanted it and they executed it all great. So valuable to have an electrician that you can walk through what you want done and trust that they're gonna do the job right. Definitely will go back to Wells when the next project rolls around.

Why is it that whenever you call a mechanic, contractor, car salesman, electrician, you get this nervous will I get ripped off? feeling at the pit of your stomach?

Granted there are some who are honest and really want to help you than help themselves to your wallet.  Unfortunately, these guys aren't one of them.

First, I called the place and tell them that we have a partial outage.  Whenever we tried to turn on the circuit breaker, sparks would fly.  We called another electrician but they couldn't find the problem.   So we call Wells Electrical and see if maybe they could find the problem.  They tell me they'll check it out in the morning and see what's wrong, then they can schedule a time to come out and fix it.  They send out Tom and he comes, flips on the circuit breaker and everything is working.  He takes off our electrical panel just to double check and sticks a power checker into a few (5 at most!) of the electrical outlets and everything looks fine.  We're all puzzled, have a laugh about it and he goes off his merry way.  This whole thing takes about TWENTY MINUTES!

The next day, I get an invoice asking me to pay $157.50!!  Yes, that's $157.50 for twenty minutes!  They labeled it as troubleshooting.  I call them and politely asked them to please explain this invoice, there must be a mistake, he was only here for 20 minutes and nothing was wrong.  That's where they pull the whole you need a filter, buy the extended warranty routine.  Evidently, unbeknownst to me, they have a 1.5 hour minimum charge.  I tell them, I was never told of such a thing over the phone or in person ...I was only told they were going to come check out what the problem was then schedule a time for them to come back and fix it.  Their reply was... Well, you should have asked!  Then they try to make it better by saying...we'll just charge you one hour which will be only $105 and that's being very generous of us!

WHAT?!?  The previous electrician I called spent 1.5 hours looking for the problem, did MUCH more than this Tom guy, AND DIDN'T CHARGE ME ANYTHING!

I do NOT recommend them.  I thought the way they handled my call was very unprofessional (I quote...Either pay the invoice or never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, call this number again!) and not telling customers about their $157.50 minimum charge but expecting them to know about it, just tarnishes those who try to build a good reputation in the service industry.

Wells Electrical was recommended to me by a friend who works in property management. He mentioned that he always found them to be very responsive.

As of this morning, I've now called Wells five different times without receiving a call back. Three of those times, I spoke to a live person. On two of those calls, the person apologized for my calls not being returned.

As a new home owner, I will have a number of relatively small electrical projects that will need to be done over the next several months. As an architect, however, I have the opportunity to recommend electricians to friends and clients for their own work.

Wells Electrical could start by returning one of my five phone calls.

Tony Wells was very fair in his estimate. We got other estimates that were 5 times as much as people seem to be trying to get over on old folks. he was able to have the work done in a couple of days so now my folks can get their chair lift which I am very thankful for. I would use this company again in the future.

Grant and his team are very reliable, fast, and affordable!

They completed much needed repairs and updates for our vacant flat, all at the last minute and in record time.  They worked around our painters, did exactly what I asked, and stayed within our budget.  We will be calling Grant once again for more extensive work on our upper flat.

Excellent work!  Highly recommended!

Customer service is terrible.  They were very shady and I'm skeptical that these 5 star reviews are real.  They're probably another company that offers discounts for good reviews.

I called to get a building completely rewired and everything was fine until I told them where I'm located and that it's half a mile from their address. They could walk to the location!  They absolutely refused to come do an estimate.  I've heard about contractors who are afraid of doing work close by since they can't escape if they underperform.

Be warned!  Stay away!

I was recommended by a buddy of mine and do not regret it at all. They have a great crew and did an amazing job on replacing our old glass fuse box. I found Wells Electrical as a recommendation from a friend.  Well, my friend was right on, these guys are great!  Okay, so I'm pretty persnikity when it comes to strangers in the house...especially on a repeated basis.  If you're going to have a stranger in your house for extensive electrical needs, it wouldn't get better than Daniel.  He's the man.  He's accommodating, helpful, hard-working and a great presence.  The electrical needs were all well-addressed.  When an extra request for a doorbell came out of nowhere, it was done immediately and without any fuss.  Seriously, these guys are wonderful on many levels.

Tony and his team are incredible.  They have been doing some semi-major work at my residence.  Each day they have totally cleaned up, the guys are concerned that they aren't too intrusive, have worked with me to minimize the outages.  I couldn't say enough about how great they are.   I can't speak to the cost of the job as I'm not paying for it.

I called Wells to help fix the timer on the neighboring building's incredibly loud fan (long story).  Jason came twice, patiently spent a good long time determining that the timer was fine but was being tampered with, installed a padlock and came back a few weeks later to give me the keys, at which time he installed the trick lightbulb in my own house that I was unable to figure out. For free. The whole thing wasn't free. It wasn't even cheap, but it was very fine service.

After calling about 7 different electricians, they were the first to call back.  It did take about a day for that, but that was the only somewhat negative thing about my experience.  I set up an appt. for two days later very easily.  I had a minor electrical need, but really needed some drywall cutting to get a heater housing in the wall larger than the original.  The morning of the appt, Nigel/Nile (can't remember) called to say he was done with his previous appt. 30 minutes early and would it be ok to come early.  Yes please!  He was great- super professional and got right to task and worked fast.  He did a great job, and did what was needed.  I would call them again for any future work.

The team was helpful, knowledgeable and able to solve my electrical problem with efficiency and professionalism yet with personable approach.
It seems all reviews for this business reflect the same feedback - bar one.  To the lady who wrote the negative review: ALL contractors or local service providers have service call charge for troubleshooting. And the standard is 1.5 hours.
Maybe the first company you called did not charge you for a service call, because they were not able to solve your problem....
Thanks Wells Team! I know whom I shall call if ever I have another electrical problem. I recommend you without hesitation.

This is the second time I have used Wells Electrical for two major projects.  Both projects involved installing radiant electric baseboard heat through two story houses and both projects took 1.5-2 weeks to complete.  Electricity is probably the single largest dangerous thing you have in your house and if not done correctly can burn your house down, injure your family or at best cause extreme annoyance as circuits trip.  If you are looking for a discount operation this is not one of them and I did get sticker shock when the first installation cost me over $10k but there are lots of intangibles with Wells Electric.  Unlike most contractors these are guys you can trust to do the job quickly, neatly (no mess afterwards), safely and we had zero issues with theft or worries about safety for my family after 3 weeks of combined work in our house.  His entire team is from New Zealand and they all happen to be rugby players.  They might look big and tough but after spending three weeks with them I would trust any of them to take care of my two kids.  On our second job we called Grant on a short one week notice and he was willing to work with the building inspectors to pick up the permits and was given full access to our house while we were gone on vacation and finished the job with zero issues and minimal instruction.  The house was immaculate when we got back and they took great pains to minimize the number of holes cut into my drywall.  I can not tell you how good I feel about Wells Electrical knowing my family was safe and we could trust them with full access to our house.

I read the review of the person who was shocked about the $100 bill and I must say I had a hard time controlling my laughter.  Electricians are highly trained and unlike plumbers actually have to think given the dangers of the medium they work in.  If a plumber messes up you get a messy clean up, if an electrician messes up you or your family can die.  If you can't get a plumber to come over to your house without spending $100 how do you expect an electrician to come over without being charged.  I would ignore Marobin L.'s review as she clearly doesn't understand what things cost.

A great experience, from an extremely helpful person taking my call to the electrician who showed up ON TIME at 8:00 AM on a Monday morning. (I'm always prepared for all service organizations to act like the cable company, with no regard to YOUR time. Not so in this case.) I had three minor problems, all which were handled quickly, with ease and understanding and I wasn't charged for parts or labor, just the standard hour of service. (The minimum price referred to elsewhere here.) I know that if I need another electrician, I'll be calling Wells Electrical.

Wells Electrical was the second electrian I called.  The first one could not figure out the problem and said that he would be back later, but he never got back to me.  Anyways,  I called Wells on New Years Eve at 3:30 PM and Tony rang my door bell at 4:15 PM that same evening.  I thought that he would postpone my appt till next week because it was already late in the day but he came.  I probably got lucky but he gets 5 stars for being fast and dedecated to his business.  Tony figured out the problem in 30 minutes and fixed it in 15 minutes.  I was watching him and he followed a very logical process to diagnose the problem.  I do not know exactly what he did but it started in the breaker panel, then investigated near by outlets.  He found a loose connection in the first outlet he pulled apart.  I can tell that experinece came into play here so he gets another 5 stars for residental electrical experience. The first electrician I called was pushing reset buttons in the bathroom for a circuit in the kitchen.  As for the price.  I paid 157.50 for about 45 minutes of work and it was all worth it.  I would rather pay someone for an hour and a half and get the job done in 45 mins. than spend nothing and waste 2 hours of my day.  I now have a working kitchen light and microwave.

I had called in on Friday afternoon to have someone come out and install an outlet. First thing Monday morning Daniel was here to do the job, but I wasn't because I forgot about the early meeting. Daniel was here at 8:00 and I didn't get here until 9:00. I gave him a call back when I got in, figuring he had already left, but he didn't! He was still downstairs waiting to be let up! I felt so bad, but he reassured me that it was okay and got right to work. He was unbelievably nice and so understanding. Plus he did a fabulous job! I HIGHLY recommend Well's and really appreciate the great people they employ! Great job guys and keep up the good work!

I heartily recommend them for small and large complex electrical jobs.  They are excellent! n Yes they are expensive but you get what you pay for! I have had a massive amount of work done by them and I am very pleased. Staff are respectful, the electricians are very professional and the owners are gems. They respond and do try to assign staff as soon as possible most places, put you off, don't explain what your options are and then still charge the standard cost for a professional electrician! I think Wells Electrical has a great work ethic,  maybe it is that most are from New Zealand.
