HISTORY

Established in 2003.
TrenchFree is the Bay Area's first and only dedicated trenchless plumbing contractor. Trenchless plumbing is our principal business, not a sideline. By concentrating on advanced techniques for pipelining, directional drilling, pneumatic boring and pipe bursting, TrenchFree delivers better pricing and service in all phases of no-dig underground pipeline and conduit installation and replacement. TrenchFree's fleet services the entire San Francisco Bay Area from our Silicon Valley headquarters.

ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

Juan Diaz founded JD Plumbing in 2007, eventually incorporating into TrenchFree. TrenchFree offers the Bay Area's historic landscapes and architecture several non-invasive plumbing alternatives, such as earth-piercing, pipe bursting, horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) rehabilitation.

Juan saw the need to go the TrenchFree method as this requires little to no digging on street and home landscaping.

We had a large clog due to tree roots in a very difficult to access location. The crew did a wonderful job pinpointing the exact location, and communicating all our options. When they were finished, the putting things back together and general clean up were first rate. We're very pleased.

A fabulous company. Very competitive rates. High quality work.  In addition, our job site had a complication with tougher than expected compacted soils. They powered straight through.

Directional boring is such a superior method compared to cut and cover if you can get away with it.  For our sewer lateral, TrenchFree made the math work.

I can truly cannot recommend TrenchFree and their team enough. For a solid year, we've been having plumbers visit our house every 2-3 months to fix repeat issues. Finally, we spoke with TrenchFree. When all the other companies we spoke with were going to charge $150+ to run a camera in our lines and find the issue, they offered a free estimate. The workers at our house were all incredibly friendly and professional, and got to work quickly. They were able to identify a problem with our pipes outside our house that every other plumber had missed. Within days we received a quote back, and they were on site to fix the issue. They even came during 106 degree weather, on a Friday going into a holiday weekend, to make sure the job was done right. Lastly, and this is where they truly won me over: Once the job was complete, we thought an issue had arisen that still wasn't fixed. Within 24 minutes of me hitting send on my email, they were back at the house and fixed the problem -- even when it turned out it was OUR fault and nothing they did. Please let me stress this:: do not waste your time pouring through lists of reviews, looking for plumbers who cut prices in order to raise them in other spots. TrenchFree doesn't have the same number of reviews as some of the other companies, so they may get overlooked. Don't make my mistake. Call TrenchFree the FIRST time, and they'll be your last call ... not your fifth, like they were for us. A+ work. Everyone was amazing. Thank you for a great experience!!

i sent in a crawl space issue thru request a quote service which messages several service providers at once based on some unknown algorithm. in 5 minutes Trenchfree called to say they do not offer those services. That is above an beyond, in my opinion. They could have just ignored the message. Did not use them, but they get 5 stars.

Antonio showed up within 45 minutes of my call to assess the water main break from meter to house. He wrote up a quote and within 2 hours Benjamin showed up to create a temporary bypass line to stop the water meter from spinning and costing me more $$$. They organized all the USA markings and came back a few days later. Benjamin and Arturo worked in concert to quickly, efficiently and very cleanly install a new line and conclude the work within 4 hours. Up and running and have not seen a better operation in a long time! Job well done and would certainly recommend TrenchFree to anyone else that is in need of these types of services.

TrenchFree did a superb job of installing a new water main line without breaking an inch of my concrete. The task was complicated and the opening at the front of the house was quite small. Yet they didn't touch any concrete at all.

They were very confident from the get go about handling this task easily. Their price was the lowest amongst 3 quotes that I got and it was completed in just a day. The main line was of copper and no joint whatsoever underground. From the meter to the main entrance, one single pipe.

Highly recommend them. They have the right people & machines to get the job done. They were very thorough in ensuring the sewer line wasn't impacted due to the underground drilling. They put a camera from the sewer vent on the top of the house, all the way until the cleanout to ensure nothing was impacted.

Their foreman Armanda was excellent to work with. And Antonio made the process very smooth from the quote to completion.

Oh also, they were very helpful & prompt in setting up a temporary water main within an hour of me detecting a massive leak. They came in after hours and got the job done quickly to ensure we had a water in the house.

Our water line runs through our neighbor's yard to the street below, and is over 150 feet in length, and after 70 years it needed to be replaced. Rather than dig up our neighbor's yard (and our own) we hired TrenchFree. They dug a hole by the water meter, and another by where our water line enters our house. Between those two they had a digging tool that tunneled underground (avoiding other underground utilities that they searched for). It all went really smoothly, and it was a huge relief to not have to dig up our neighbor's yard. Turned out that our water meter needing replacing and they dealt with EBMUD without charging me extra. The cost was comparable or cheaper than trenching through and re-landscaping. TrenchFree was a pleasure to work with; they did everything in the time frame (a few days) and all went well and it's nice to have good water pressure.. Much appreciated!

I used their service for replacing main sewer line.  It was a pleasant experience from beginning to the end.  The price was reasonable.  I recommend them if you need their service.

The sales person was very polite and honest.  He offered to keep my main sewer line open for free after signing the contract until the job was done, which was a nice offer.

They offered a lifetime warranty on their job.  Not sure what lifetime I should expect.  I am glad they offer it, because it shows they believe in the quality of the job they do.

The price was very reasonable.  Some other plumbing companies charge you twice as much and use these guys service.  So you can cut the middle man by going directly to TrenchFree.

They performed the job as promised and explained.  The workers were very friendly and polite as well.  They even put all the dirt they had to dig on plywoods and cleaned up really nice after themselves.

The city inspector checked their work and gave a thumbs up.

I'm a general contractor and property manager and have used TrenchFree to fix underground leaks several times.  I've been in construction for over 40 years and have worked with many contractors.  TrenchFree has been one of the most professional companies that have worked with.  The management is very responsive, helpful and communicate well  The crews I've worked with have been experienced, polite and clean up after themselves.  I would definitely hire them again.

Water pipes in our neighborhood are flexible plastic, originally installed in 1975.  They'd failed already at many of our neighbor's houses, and we guessed that ours was on borrowed time.

Our water pipe is about 55' in length, running under a lot of concrete.  Having seen others replacing via trenching gave me a feeling of dread; multi-day jobs with a lot of jackhammering.

Several neighbors had used Trenchfree, so we gave them a call.

Ernie arrived within an hour of our call to provide a very reasonable verbal estimate; a formal estimate followed via email with all the details.  The crew arrived early the next morning and the job was completed within 4 hours.  The crew was polite, professional, obviously very experienced, clearly took extreme pride in their work, and made the job look easy.  Our yard was completely undamaged and left in an immaculate state.  You'd never have known they were there, but for the very attractive connection at the house end, which frankly looked a lot better than what was there before they arrived.

Extremely pleased with this firm.  I just don't see how you could possibly do better than this.

I highly recommend TrenchFree. The crews who did the work were very professional and did a great job, especially considering that they had to overcome two significant hurdles. Overcoming those hurdles required that they had to work twice as long as estimated, and despite this they were clearly focused on doing the job right. In addition, the office staff were very responsive, and their proposal was much lower than the others I received.

I am posting this exact same review for the two companies I called for bids for a trenchless replacement of our water line, The Trenchless Co. (based in Sacramento) and TrenchFree (based in San Jose). We live in Oakland.

Initial Contact:

The person handling my initial call at both companies were great.

Scheduling for Bid:

The Trenchless Co. said they'd have a crew in the Bay Area in a few days or at the beginning of the following week or something like that and said, even though it would not fit into my schedule, the guys could come by my house and check out the site when I wasn't home if that was ok with me.  Sure, fine, fair enough.

TrenchFree's rep, Ernie, told me they could come out the next day or whenever was convenient for me.  And he did.

Le Bid:

Several more days after the Trenchless Co. dudes came to my house, the company called and said that the job looked too hard because we're up a hill about 60' from the street, that there would be too many rocks, tree roots, and that their heavy equipment would not fit on our street. Really? Um, PG&E trucks with pole replacements and full-sized fire trucks fit on our street. There are no existing trees they'd need to go through. And the hill ain't that steep.  It's nicely terraced and everything.

TrenchFree gave me an incredibly fair, reasonable, and good bid right on the spot!

Time To Do The Job:

TrenchFree was awesome. Again arrived exactly on time (early in fact) and were super professional.  When they asked how their bid price compared to the other company's (I never told them who the other company was), I told them I never received a bid from the other company because they said the job was too hard for them.  Oh my, how the guys laughed.  This job? they asked.  It's a piece of cake! And on they went to deliver on their job, cleaning up beautifully (even replacing ground covering we had down) and being super helpful (including coming into my house and fixing a faucet for me!).  All day they joked about how another company in the business could have looked at this job and said it was too hard.

'nuff said.

I give this company my highest recommendation. I needed my sewer line replaced, which required extensive excavation & concrete work. TrenchFree gave me the lowest bid I received, with the least amount of landscape damage. My next door neighbors had also used their services and were pleased.

The workers were thoroughly professional - prompt, quiet, and cleaned up each day. When the work was finished, I could scarcely tell anything had been disturbed. It was a pleasure working with them, which I can't say about other contractors.

I also appreciate the fact that, unlike my other bidders, TrenchFree accepts credit card payments without requiring an extra fee. And they provide a lifetime warranty.

We had a complicated job that required almost all of our sewer lines to be completely replaced. Luis, Carlos, and many crew members got the job done without tearing up our house's slab and meeting our city's inspector's demands. We are happy to be able to get back to our daily lives with everything moving in the right direction.

We had a water main break (3 days after SJ Water replaced the meter!!  Thanks a lot!), and were referred by Done Right Plumbing (a very class move by them).  And that set me up with Ernie Villalobos - he was extremely considerate of your situation (No water), and came by before he went into work. Ernie is such a great guy to talk with during all of this, and was responsive to phone calls when we had questions.
Despite a late start with the actual replacement, his team was able to replace the line and get us water (it is amazing how we that that for granted, until you don't have it) by evening.
I don't plan on needing them to replace the water main (lifetime warranty), but I do highly recommend them if you need one.

After two flooding incidents over Thanksgiving, I knew it was finally time to replace our old sewer lateral (damaged by roots from the city tree). I promptly gathered estimates from five different plumbers. Not only was this company the most competitive in price, they also had the endorsement of three real estate colleagues.

I was impressed by every person on the team from Carlos who conducted the initial site visit/estimate, to Antonio who coordinated/scheduled permits, to Hector, Chon, and crew who did the excavation/installation. Hardworking, knowledgeable, and tidy, they got the job done in two days! We passed inspection without issue. I highly recommend this professional team.

We have a circa 1960s house, and the iron drainwork was clearly starting to go. We experienced frequent backups, and drain water was starting to seep from underground.

Not having tens of thousands of dollars to fix it, we looked toward TrenchFree. When I called them, Juan was very friendly, and ran a complimentary camera inspection of the kitchen and laundry drain, and found the likely cause. Their quote was very reasonable, and using their method, it would only take one to two days with minimal disruption to the landscape.

After really worrying about jackhammering my kitchen for several weeks, we finally decided to do it. The guys showed up on time, and delivered as promised. They prepped the site and protected the rest of the house against dust as best they could, and were able to excavate a pit in our kitchen and the sink drain without removing any countertops. They used the machine to push a steel rod right under the side of our house, and into the kitchen, then used it to pull a new drainpipe as a single piece back out to the main in the front yard, through a dining room window. They spent a second day jackhammering to the sink drain (our concrete slab foundation is thick!) and connecting the sink and the laundry.

They backfilled, and reset the concrete floor, including embedding rebar. They were very professional and even stayed overtime (~8pm) to ensure everything was set for the weekend. They cleaned and even mopped our floors as they left. Couldn't be happier with the work. Thank you TrenchFree! 10/5 stars if I could.

Hands down awesome company!!! They saved me huge $$$ and did a perfect job. Carlos the sales manager explained every step. We had a major leak when our water connection between the house and the street water meter cracked and leaked underground. The pipes were old galvanized pipes from the 60s that were very corroded with probably 50% restriction.
Due the PGE gas lines location, we decided to use TrenchFree to tunnel underground (like the oil industry, they have a controlled way to tunnel under our trees, retaining wall and driveway).
We were DELIGHTED with the experience we had with TrenchFree.
We highly recommend them. They came in at ¼ to  1/2 of the 2 open trenches bids we got!
They left with no destructive trace in the landscape... very clean, on time, professional.
More importantly, they responded within a few hours of calling them, installed a temporary water line above ground (which I would recommend to anybody else) to stop the leaking and made sure we did not get water contamination.

I scheduled TrenchFree on short notice to evaluate a prospective home purchase. It was an old home where the clay sewer is nearing the end of its useful life (50+ years), and we were concerned about whether we would be hit with a big repair cost in the near future. The technician (Carlos) came out on time (early, actually), called me immediately after the visit to clearly explain what he found - some roots in the line, but nothing critical requiring immediate service - and provided the very honest assessment that no work was needed right away, unless a problem arose. I hope to never need their service, but if I do need sewer work, they'll be at the top of my list. Appreciate the quick turnaround, professionalism, and honesty.

Wow - can't say enough good things about my experience with TrenchFree. Would highly recommend them.  Main water line started leaking with water cascading down the driveway.  Had to shut off water at the main.  The pipe runs under a cement sidewalk through a side patch of grass, then under about 35' of concrete driveway to the house.  I had nightmare visions of a multi day job involving jackhammers and driveway demolition.  Called TrenchFree the next morning.  They were on site within the hour to give me a no charge estimate.  Had the verbal quote on site and followed with a written email detailed proposal.  I got a few more estimates that were all substantially more and did not give me the confidence they knew the best way to approach.  Called TrenchFree to schedule and they were able to do the job the same day.  Really went out of their way to accommodate my schedule.  Can't believe they were done within 4 hours.  Small hole in lawn and everything else went under the concrete.  All new piping for the above ground connection to house which included shut off valves, pressure regulator, hose bib.  Even replaced 2 sprinkler valves.  Completely cleaned up area when done.  Could not tell they had been there except for the shiny new copper pipes.  Each person I worked with was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.  Nobody likes having a plumbing emergency.  But these guys made it as painless as possible.  Thank-you!!

These guys are good. We needed to replace our water main after we bought our home. We scheduled them while we were at work and when I came home I first though they did not show up because there was absolutely no dirt around the driveway and the flower beds looked undisturbed. On closer look however, I noticed the new copper pipe peaking out the ground. The connections looked very professional and clean.

I hope to not need them anytime soon again, but if the situation arose, I would call them in a heartbeat.

TrenchFree deserves the 5-star reviews!

Carlos arrived exactly at the appointment time for the estimate to replace my sewer line. He was the only person who opened both manhole covers near my house to make sure he didn't miss anything.

Later in the day, I received a very detailed written estimate online (which also acts as the contract if you accept by signing online). Of the five companies I contacted, TrenchFree was the only one that gave a written estimate.

The estimate was actually the lowest, which was a pleasant surprise. (Even my plumber commented how inexpensive it was). Not having to trench was a bonus.

The crew also arrived exactly at the appointment time, both to replace the sewer line, and for the city inspection.

Everyone I interacted with was courteous. I pretty much sat back and they took care of everything.

Had these guys change the main sewer line for a very good price. Unbelievable what they did without tearing up the front yard. Old slate planter box, pavers and fake  grass all undisturbed. The only disturbance they did was make a big hole where the clean out was installed. It's in the area where small expensive decorative rocks are located and made it look like all they did was put the cement-looking top of the clean out and placed it on top of the rocks. Apparently they leveled and packed the dirt before the rocks were placed back.
Very clean end results after they dug a good size hole! Luckily they didn't have to break cement which made it easier, but no debris or dirt chunks and garbage left behind in the area of small rocks!

They just replaced my water line.  The workers they sent were so nice and helpful.  Very professional, fair price.  I did ask for a permit and they did that for me.  They helped unplug my toilet valve when it became clogged with dirt from the old water line.  They cleaned up nicely.  I would definitely recommend them.

Our water main broke under our driveway.  I contacted two plumbers who had high rankings on YELP and were blown away with the cost and the destruction that they offered in order to replace the pipe.  I then did another YELP search and found Trench Free.  Their bid was so reasonable with no destruction to our property.  They were friendly, knowledgable, trustworthy, prompt, offered us a senior discount and even worked in the rain and in the dark to make sure that we had water access before they left for the day.  I highly recommend this company.  I even recommended them to me neighbor for a problem she is having and they gave her a very workable solution.  She was equally impressed.  I can't thank you enough with the service you delivered exactly as you described it would be.

This team was amazing. Very responsive, provided an accurate quote and finished lining our difficult sewer lateral in 1 day. We had some very specific issues with the pipe that involved the city but the team was able to meet all our needs which put us at ease. For all the complications on our end, this was the smoothest engagement I've had with anyone doing work at our house and would 100% give them a call next time I need a plumber. 10/10 would recommend, Diego and Carlos were great to work with.

After having our sewer line cleaned out three times in the past year, I thought we definitely needed to have our lateral replaced.  I called another highly recommended company to get an estimate for having it replaced and they gave me an estimate of  $5890 without looking through the line with a camera as far as I know (they didn't say they looked at it with a camera or show me any footage).

I looked for another highly recommended company to get a second bid from and found Trenchfree, called and set up a time to get the estimate.  Ernest arrived on time and seemed very surprised any company would bid on a sewer lateral replacement without looking at the line with a camera to make sure it actually needed to be replaced.  He set up his camera to look at the line and said it does not need to be replaced and that the likely reason it had to be cleaned out repeatedly was because whoever did it didn't do a thorough enough job initially.  That made sense because the second guy that came to clean it out did seem to do a much more thorough job of grinding out roots growing in (neither of these guys were from Trenchfree).  Anyway, he said the line looked really good and would most likely need to get cleaned out about once a year.

Where do I begin? ... The team at TrenchFree is absolutely fantastic!  After a traditional plumber fixed three leaks in my gas line and it was still losing pressure, I was faced with repairing or replacing more than 150 feet of my underground gas line.  After much research, it was clear that trench-less was the way to go for a full replacement.  It was evident in my first meeting with Juan that he knew what he was doing and ensured that I was provided with enough information to make a comfortable, informed decision.  The job took three days from start to inspection sign-off, the landscaping where access holes were made looks untouched, and I even caught several neighbors trying to find evidence of my version of the big dig.  I just can't say enough about this company.  I highly recommend TrenchFree for all of your underground pipe replacement.  I am so happy to have heat again!

We had two major projects for our residence: 1) CIPP ( Cured in place Pipe)...put in a 40 foot  pipe liner inside the current sewer pipe, that lies  below our concrete slab foundation and 2)install 45 feet of continuous
4 inch sewer pipe from our house under all the shrubbery toward the street. (  a trenchless  installation that breaks up the pre-existing cast iron pipe while pulling a replacement pipe behind it

TrenchFree did both of these projects in 4 1/2 days....

with minimal disturbance to the yard. Both involved the use of experienced personnel,
who were personable, knowledgeable, and diligent. They were careful to protect both the house and shrubbery and to clean the work area and return it as they found it. Eric , the appraiser , was very thorough in his analysis and Diego , the head of the CIPP team, was very detailed in
completing both the installation and connection of secondary feed lines to the main pipe.
All teams worked well together toward the completion of these two projects.
I would highly recommend their use with any major sewer/plumbing work.

We knew our main water line was deteriorating, so we searched for a company that would install the new, plastic ones that are flexible in case of earthquakes, without the mess or damage of digging. They dug three small holes, one at the beginning, one at a connecting point, and one at the end of the line, and drilled the path for the water line. The dirt that was dug out was put on large plywood boards, so it would not mess up anything. Our beautiful garden and all our concrete (steps and path, there is a lot) was untouched. When the job was done, you could hardly see that someone had dug. Everything was cleaned up properly and put back into place. There were some little corrections to be made which they took care of immediately and professionally. When they left, everything was working perfectly. One of the first contractors without!! any issues! Their price was, after the 10 percent off Yelp, comparable to all other offers we got. Another good thing: They are member of BBB.
We can highly recommend this company!!

Great service, great work. I am happy with Trenchfree. Our water pipe line running from city valve to our house had a major leak and blockage from tree roots. Trenchfree provided an elegant solution with minimal disruption to our front yard. They arrived quite fast, assessed the situation, performed the work, got a city permit and all without my involvement. Invoice was emailed to me after the city permit was issued and payment was made easily online. Carlos was the rep that helped me out. Most recommended.

Really happy with this company. I needed my sewer line replaced and learned about TrenchFree's method. It was much cheaper than the quote I got from a traditional plumber. They were patient explaining the process to me and it was clear that they were a better option than a traditional plumber.

Once my appointment was booked, TrenchFree took care of getting the permit with the city and then the crew came out and excavated my front yard. I have artificial turf, so I had to pull it up before they excavated. Honestly, the huge pile of dirt in my front yard was very intimidating. I was worried there was no way that it would all get put back in place. All of the dirt came from just two small-ish (about 3' x 3') holes.

After the excavation, the old pipe was removed and the new pipe was put in. I have full basement, so I'm hoping that made their job a little easier for this hard working crew.

They came back the following day to backfill and to have the city inspect their work.

I was so impressed with the work they did to backfill and put my artificial turf back into place - you'd have to look really, really closely to even notice that anything had changed. Naturally, the project passed inspection.

Getting a sewer line replaced is one of the more expensive and less fun things a homeowner will have to deal with. TrenchFree made it much more tolerable.

TrenchFree came in this morning to re-pipe the main water line from the meter to the outside of the house. They used the trenchfree technique, which was fast and clean - no dig up a big trench. The staff was a good team-work. They knew what they were doing. They started at 8:30 am. and completed the work by noon. The clean-up after work was excellent.

I highly recommend TrenchFree (JD Plumbing). Juan, the owner, is prompt, courtesy, and professional. The staff is well-trained, polite, and considered on maintaining high quality work. I got much more than I had expected.

Background! Read the following:

My main water pipe was broken, so I need to repipe the water line from the city's meter to my house. I started with the other old-name plumbing company with a result of big disappointment!

I searched the Internet and found TrenchFree aka JD Plumbing. Had no idea about TrenchFree, but started reading the reviews. Juan called me within about 15 minutes of my search. With his sound courtesy, eagerly to work, and sincerely, I decided to meet with him at my house. He was there in half an hour as he said he would. He explained to me in sufficient details on how he would re-pipe, the product used, the technique, timeline (in one day!), and price. Within about 15 minutes talking to him, I had pretty good idea how I could expect on this re-piping job. After we parted, Juan email me an invoice describing the procedure and material in details, including a price, of course, which was very reasonable!

At the beginning, I was hesitate a bit though because I had never heard about TrenchFree technique and how people did the re-pipe without digging a trench. I did some research on the Internet about trenchfree technique and the material used - HDPE pipe. Got quite good idea!

Getting so fade up with that big, old-named company, I cancelled that company and contacted TrenchFree to take the re-piping job. It was my best decision this week, and today when TrenchFree came in and completed the job professionally and beautifully, it was one of the best days in my life. I was so happy and highly satisfied with TrenchFree' s work.

My driveway is 630 feet long, and my main water line had broken so many times over the years, I had no choice but to replace it from the house all the way to the main road. Thank goodness I found Trenchfree!  They replaced my water main line in 3 days, turning off the water only once at the end of the job for a few hours.  They were prompt, professional and did an amazing job!  The lifetime warrantee feels great too! My driveway and landscaping were untouched!  No one had to spend hours of back breaking work digging a trench.  I am so happy and relieved now.

Awful service. THE absolute slowest business we've ever dealt with. We had to call them many times just to beg them to do their job. Unreal. Never hire this company. There are plenty others out there who actually want to work.

I needed to replace the sewer line in front of the house and these guys were terrific to work with! So great they didn't need to tear up all my landscaping! They thoroughly explained the process, were conscientious in their work, cleaned up the area each day and answered all my questions. They made sure that the irrigation and electrical system were in working order and even came back to remove all the PG&E markings on the pavement. The entire team (on sight and in the office) were very responsive and so nice to work with; can't say enough good things! Thank you TrenchFree..!

Trenchfree did a great job.  Over six days, they replaced 250 ft of sewer line that had been problematic for a number of years.  They were able to quickly overcome problem areas, such as low spots (bellies), tree roots, and hard, compacted soil.  The workers were pleasant and were patient in answering my questions about the process and status of the project.  Despite some difficulties that were difficult to foresee, they came in at the quoted price, which was significantly less than the other quotes I received.

I've recently hired TrenchFree ( 9/25 & 9/26/17) to install at my residence a new Property Line Cleanout, a new Building Cleanout and a new Sewer Lline connection between the two cleanouts. This was done using their Trench-free process. I found their employees to be prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional.
The process took only 2 days from start to finish with San Jose Permit Inspection included.
I highly recommend them to any resident needing this service.

I hired Carlos and his crew to replace my old sewer lateral.  For a week I had problems with sewage backup at my home.  Paid a few plumbers to hydrojet the line and report all clear.  After the line continued to backup I got a few inspections and quotes.  Found out my line was made out of Orangeburg pipe and was deteriorated.  Trench free came in at the best price for pipebursting and replacement.  It took a couple of weeks for his crew to come and do the job.  In between the wait the line clogged again.  Carlos as promised sent a tech to hydrojet and clear the line for me for free while waiting for the replacement.  His crew did an excellent job and I have had no further issues with my line.  He even modified the original quote to reduce the cost after his team decided it was unnecessary to replace my old clean out.  Thanks Trenchfree!

These guys were awesome. I needed my sewer lateral replaced so they did the pipe bursting method. I had several companies out to look at the situation and bid the job and they were by far the least expensive. They arrived on time did a awesome job and when they were finished you could not even tell they were there. I would highly recommend this company and will use them on all my properties. Ernie the estimator guy was awesome to.. He came the first day for the estimate and then came back on the work day to make sure his guys new what was to be done. These guys were almost two good to be true.

I called 3 companies to get estimates, and decided to go with Trenchfree.  They showed up the same day we called and installed a temporary water main.  We were able to keep our irrigation going while on vacation for the following week.  When we returned, they showed up promptly on the day we had agreed upon.  Their crew was friendly and did quality work.  By the end of the day they finished, and left our yard all cleaned up.  They even replanted some of the plants that they had to dig up.  Great service all around.

Super responsive. Amazing service! We have a drainage problem and we have water leaking into our floor. Carlos came out for an evaluation and he was awesome. He was super thorough, used his camera in the drain pipe to determine what was going on, climbed around the yard to understand the entry/exit points of the drain. He was also super honest about my options and turns out I likely will need to have trenching done. Even though we won't be using TrenchFree this go around, they will definitely be the go to for any other pipe leak problems in the future.

HONEST HONEST HONEST. Can't say enough good things about Carlos and this company. Imagine you've just moved into your new house after construction and have plumbing issues. You're a layperson so you're relying on the knowledge and honesty of the experts. We knew we had roots in our lateral line. We contacted TrenchFree and inquired about installing 2 new clean outs and replacing the lateral line. Carlos came and first told me to get in touch with the city to see if they would deal w the property line clean out on the public side. He even told me what to say on the phone (again bc I'm no expert and don't know the terminology). RWC came out and turns out it was tree roots on the public side so they took care of it, for free. Carlos came back and did video on the line and showed me that it's completely clear. We will be hiring them to install one clean out, as he said the second one we were inquiring about wasn't really necessary.

Carlos showed me on the video that we had no roots or anything wrong w our line on the private side and didn't need to replace it. He had some concerns on the public side of the line and told me exactly what to say and get back in touch w the city public works dept to have them inspect and camera the line.

You want to know why the honesty is so important? Because another company came and quoted me $10k to install two clean outs and replace our lateral. They never mentioned that my issue might be resolved for free by contacting the city.

I give my highest possible recommendation to this company.

Wow, I am so glad I learned of TrenchFree and their trenchless plumbing method.  We had a broken kitchen drain pipe under our hardwood floors (and under concrete slab!) that would have required a 3-4 day effort, major disruption of the kitchen and hardwood floors using traditional trenched plumbing.

Carlos, the estimator at TrenchFree (smart, thoughtful and polite), thought creatively and said we could reroute the kitchen drain line from our kitchen wall facing the outside to the sewer line (about 35 feet). By using a boring tool and pushing the pipe through the ensuing hole, the plumbers avoided having to dig a trench to do the work.  The only holes were just outside the kitchen wall, where they installed a kitchen drain cleanout (the original was inside and inaccessible), and the place where they connected the kitchen line to the sewer line.  They installed a new sewer cleanout at the juncture and threaded a pipe liner in the sewer pipe past the point of the old kitchen line.  Thus, they capped the old kitchen line in two places.  I appreciated their perseverance in ensuring that some extra pipes left from our 1999 kitchen remodel were not being used before the final capping.

The result was a one-day job, the lowest estimate of three plumbers, and minimal disruption for the plumbing repair.  The crew cleaned up the site before leaving, and our kitchen drain works great (one week later).  TrenchFree is highly professional, responsive and has fair pricing.  I would use them again in a heartbeat.

I've hired these guys twice. They are great. As some of the other reviewers mentioned, they don't seem very stressed by situations that other people think are difficult. They show up, they write an estimate, they do the work, they stick to their estimate, and they make it look easy. I had two disasters, both on old properties with old clay pipes in difficult settings. They didn't blink at either one.  There's not much worse than having sewage bubbling up in the yard. They make it all better. What more could you possibly want?

After years of calling plumbers to clear my main sewer line, I finally decided to take the plunge and get my sewer line replaced. While searching online, I happened to stumble on this company, Trenchfree, all the way in San Jose. I gave them a call and Felipe came by for a video inspection of my line. He showed me the condition of my sewer line which he said was orangeburg material (people describe it as layers of paper held together by coal tar!!), with roots invading several sections of the pipe. He was able to give me an estimate quickly (which seemed very reasonable). Since he was my first estimate, I called a couple local companies who did a lot of sewer lateral replacements in my town. Their estimates all came in higher than Trenchfree. Given that Trenchfree's specialty is trenchless replacement of utility lines and that they have a lifetime warranty on their work, I decided to go with them. They took care of all the permits and inspections with the city. They completed the work in 2 days (first day, digging and putting in the new sewer line; second day, inspection, backfilling and putting everything back in place). I was amazed at how they were able to put everything back in place, especially the pavers. The pavers looked like they were never touched. Thank you Trenchfree for your work!!

My contractor said he was so pissed at Trenchfree's crews when they work at the house because the crews make my contractor looks bad and lazy. The crews work nonstop from 8-430ish, no break, maybe 15-20 lunch at the job site, those guys are beast! I, homeowner, watched them  do the heavy digging, pulling, shoveling, 4 ft and 7 ft deep of digging to fine the sewage line..hands down!!!!

We found a water leaks around water main initially and hired someone else and thought the problem was fixed.  Later the water bill was still too high.  We did not know where the other leaks were.  Then we called TrenchFree and Carlos showed up quickly.  After some investigation he concluded it was the water main but there was no visible evidence where the leak was and did not know how many leaks were there.  He recommended replacing the water main and at the end we went for it.  During the time we had communication with Carlos and he always responded to our concerns.  The workers (Jacob ...) just completed the work in 1.5 days and looks pretty good.  There are some loose ends Carlos promises will come back and take care of it.  So overall we are very pleased with their services.

After having several backups, I decided it was time to see what was going on in the main lateral line. TrenchFree came out and sent a camera down and showed me where pipe damage and root incursions were. The trench-free replacement went very smoothly. The crew showed up on time the day of the scheduled work and had the job completed very quickly. I was surprised when I got a call from them just after lunch. I was sure they were calling to tell me they had a problem, but they were calling to tell me that they were done and packing up! They were back the next day for the inspection and to fill in the holes. When they were done, the front yard looked as if no work had been done. Extremely good experience with this company.

Top marks for these folks. They returned all calls promptly; they showed up as promised, and on time; and they were super courteous with my 90 year old mother who was getting the work done.

I made all of the arrangements from the South Bay for the work to be done at my Mom's house in Hayward. I couldn't be there when Carlos went out to quote, but in reviewing with Mom later in the day Carlos had even shown her the scope of the pipe that needed sleeving (sewer line from the house to the street). He also had no problem answering my follow up questions.

The crew arrived on the scheduled day and got right to work. The job took a little longer than anticipated as the line was WAY deeper than everyone thought it would be, but they made sure it was hooked up at the end of Day 1 so that Mom could do her thing. Day 2 they got the city inspection and sign off, and started the finishing work. Day 3 was for the finishing touches.

Mom's comment today: Drains doing well.  I think I would give them a five.  On time, kept things neat, cleaned up when they were done.  Haven't had any problems.

Great to work with. Thanks!

The least I could do is write a review for them.  In my experience, they are the most genuine service company on yelp. Not after your money but the customer satisfaction.
I would like to mention about Carlos, such a gentleman, kind and super knowledgeable.

Great experience right from chatting with them for requesting the service on Yelp until having them on-site for the inspection.

I talked to two other companies before TrenchFree.  The first came out, and said they would charge $325 to video scope the pipes, which will be credited back to the job if you go with them.  They then started to do a used car pitch on me.  Starting with a high price, and as I didn't move, they continued to offer discounts.  After they left, I called another reputable plumbing company in Mountain View.  But this time, I just asked them to quote over the phone. They quoted a price that was in line with the final price from the first company.  They don't have their own concrete team, which I saw as a disadvantage, if for no other reason, it adds more cost.  Finally, I talked to TF.  I gave them the length of the job over the phone, and they gave me a better price.  I asked for an appt.  When they came out, I thought they might bump up the price.  Nope.  They were consistent.  I did ask them to do more concrete work, replacing a whole 8' section.  So the price went up $100.  I was good with that.  The sprinkler pipe that ran next to the sewer pipe got cut in two places.  The first one, they caught.  The second one, I found after the job was done.  They came out and repaired it the next day.  I'm no expert, but the pipe work that I saw them do looked expert to me.  The communications to me from start to finish were professional. And the most visible part of the job - the replaced concrete walkway - is perfect.  5 star company.

We had a major leak in our underground pipe under our driveway.  It leaked at about 1000 Gallons of water per day. We got three quotes from various plumbing companies.  Among them, there are two quotes considered by us, and Trenchfree, recommended by a neighbor of our community, is one of them. Our final decision was largely to do with the competitive quote, the sincerity and flexibility of their business altitude and the high degree satisfaction during Q&A with the owner of Trenchfree, Juan.
During their work, Trenchfree workers (particularly, Luis) are courteous and always attempt to deliver the best quality of workmanship, which I gave them 100% satisfaction. They minimized disturbance to our landscape and avoid damaging roots of redwood trees as applying their tool in lateral underground digging.  Our slope yard also presented challenge and difficulties to their work, but they overcome them all and deliver superb results.
Like the neighbor that recommended this company to us, after using Trenchfree, we recommend this company with the strongest recommendation.

Like someone else mentioned before, call TrenchFree now if you want high-quality water main replacement at a competitive price! Our water main had a big leak, so we got quotes to fix it from a couple of local businesses who were all highly rated on Yelp. Each one of them was going to dig a trench, lay a new copper pipe, and then after inspection, close it back. I was almost ready to move forward with one of them when one of our local friends recommended us to reach out to TrenchFree. Felipe showed up to examine our leak, he explained to me about the benefits of the HDPE pipes that they use and about the lifetime warranty they offered on it. He also gave me the option of choosing copper over HDPE. After some research, I decided to go with HDPE as it seemed to be a superior alternative to copper for the mainline. I got the quote from TrenchFree within an hour, given the competitive pricing and the amazing reviews, I DocuSigned the quote immediately. I also called up the city of San Carlos who were kind enough to issue me a permit right away. TrenchFree was able to schedule our work exactly a week later. They showed up around 9 am and were done by 4 pm. The city inspector examined the work over FaceTime, he seemed very impressed with the quality of the work as well. TrenchFree thoroughly cleaned up after their work, not just my property but also the public road. I was extremely impressed by their workmanship and professionalism, I would hire them again for any other work without batting an eyelid.

The City of Morgan Hill started in June 2022 a new requirement for PSL (private sewer line) Inspections prior to selling a house. They also have a Grant Program that reimburses the homeowner up to 50% of costs for repair or replacement.

I requested my first replacement bid from TrenchFree and Carlos came out and viewed the video I received from the inspection I paid for from another company that doesn't do repairs but used his own camera to view the sewer and gave a free esitmate. I needed two more estimates for the Grant Program, it was like pulling teeth to get the estimates and some Contractors wanted to charge from $250-500 just to give a bid. I submitted my three bids and the city chose TrenchFree as the lowest and approved the Grant.

I can't say enough about how great they were to work with all while I had already relocated out of state for retirement!

Probably not space to mention all the contacts I had but Thanks Carlos for getting it all started and to all the others involved! With the reports/video I received and submitted, I was informed by the city that all looks good and my check from the Grant Program will be on the way!

I can't speak for other services but to All Home Sellers, if you need a PSL Inspection/Repair/Installation TrenchFree is the one to go with!

When I sprung a leak in my water main, Trench Free was recommended by the plumber that did my house's repipe a few years back. They said digging up my driveway and garden would cost at least twice as much as Trench Free. Carlos the Foreman came out and walked me through the estimate. I was impressed with the whole process, especially when they hit an unexpected problem trenching under the driveway that made the job longer, they literally dug in that much harder to get the job finished. The workmen were very courteous. The finished job could not look better.   I will definitely recommend Trench Free to my neighbors.

I needed a Sewer Line replacement. Trenchfree's quote was ~30% cheaper than the quote given by a well known rooter company. While, Trenchfree was slightly higher (~5%) than the third local plumbing company, but Trenchfree was by far the most professional of three companies I reached out.

Felipe was the sales person and he answered all of my questions before I signed the contract. Raul from Trenchfree kept me in loop through the process (of getting permits etc.,). They also provided all the information that my insurance company requested to approve the loss claim.

Their work was good. Eric from Trenchfree coordinated well with the City and the sanitary district. They cleaned up nicely once the work was done.

I highly recommend Trenchfree.

I called a couple of plumbing companies for outdoor sewer line repair. TrenchFree is one of them. When I met with Carlos, their project man, I was impressed by his thorough camera and radio inspection, trenchless knowledge, and courtesy. He understood the usual concern house owners could have with this type of (major) work and well anticipated various aspect of questions. His patience, detailed explanations and real-time communication -- not only before the project, but also throughout the entire project and after finish -- gave me confident they know what they are doing.

There is no BS on the job itself. VERY clean and neat. For example, the impact to the lawn that needed to dig out a hole was fairly minimal -- not more than what they initially explained to me what to expect. After about 2 months of use, the work has no problem.

The price from TrenchFree was reasonable comparing to other quotes, perhaps partly because they knew exactly what scope needed to be repaired and didn't over-quote.

I am satisfied with their service and highly recommend them.

We live in San Francisco and our home was built in 1928. I am from NYC and know nothing about sewer lines, although now I have a good education.  We had a serious issue of old, deteriorated pipes.  My plumber who does excellent conventional work told me it would take a month to do the repair, there would be extensive damage to my basement floor and garden patio that would have to be repaired and there would be a tremendous mess.
Luckily, someone mentioned relining the pipes with epoxy as opposed to replacing them and I was fortunate to find TrenchFree.  There are not many companies doing this type of work in San Francisco so I could not get multiple estimates. It was not cheap but there was no destruction to any of my floors and they said the work could be done in four days.

The company did what they promised.  It was a complicated job. The final day the crew did not leave until close to 10:00 PM but my sewer lines were functioning properly when they left.

We had a leak in our main water line coming into our house. The leak caused the middle of our lawn to turn into a swampy mess. Called a few places and JD Plumbing offered to come out the next morning at 730am to look at it.

I was dreading having a company open up a huge trench to remove/install a new line and ruin our lawn. JD utilizes a high air pressue trenching system to clear an opening underground so they can install the piping. We replaced some old plastic pipe and had them install a copper line into the house. It took about 4 hours and they were very courteous and let us know when they would shutdown the water. They also did a decent job to clean up the worksite. All told, a pleasant experience!

They also take credit card, are licensed, and gave the 10% off for mentioning yelp. Would highly recommend them.

STOP reading other reviews, and call TrenchFree, NOW!

TrenchFree replaced my original waterline with approximately 40' of new 1 HDPE.

My neighbor discovered a leak at our water meters at the street, and immediately called the water company (The water meters are centrally located between our parcels at the property line we share, and the water lines run diagonally across the yard to both houses).

While I was at work, my neighbor noticed a fast flowing water leak at the sidewalk and immediately contacted San Jose Water Company.  They came out fast, inspected, and determined that it was my line leaking (after the meter), and therefore shut it off.  During their inspection, they determined I was losing 360 gallons per minute! @_@

I arrived back home for lunch at 11:30am, and read the notice left behind by the water company.  I immediately began calling repair services on Yelp, and after getting turned away (We don't do that. or No one can come out, today.) I landed on TrenchFree.  This was a blessing in disguise!

I called TrenchFree, and they dispatched the owner and he arrived in a 30 minute window and immediately presented a solution to my problem.

I've never had to deal with an issue like this before, and Juan@TrenchFree made a complicated repair process a breeze!

The breakdown of events:

Thursday AM:  BIG leak discovered.  12pm:  TrenchFree is on the job and schedules for hidden underground utilities to be identified.

Friday:  Utility workers locate and mark some hidden underground utilities on the surface.

Weekend.

Monday:  Utility workers return, locate and mark the rest of the hidden underground utilities.

Tuesday AM:  The job is started and completed, and we are happy campers!

Give Juan@TrenchFree a call if you ever find yourself in any of these situations that other Yelpers are experiencing.

After receiving quotes from a few companies TrenchFree was the lowest. Got the quote on Monday and the work was completed on Saturday. Crew was on time and explained the entire process. I was curious about the process so I has a lot of questions. They replaced approximately 40 ft of sewer line and it took most of the day. Work was quality and they left my place exactly as it was when they arrived. Great people, great work, and great price. Would recommend to everyone.

We had a broken sewer drain and broken sewer flapper valve, exiting our house, under our driveway.  They had to cut out a square in the driveway to perfect the repairs. They did an extremely professional repair job splicing the broken pipe joint and updating the flapper valve; and then replaced the concrete that had to be removed.  I give the extremely high marks in all aspects of the job.  As a plus, they expedited the repair so we could use our plumbing that night.

TrenchFree replaced my sewer line and drainage Fall 2022. Three months later, heavy rain hit bay area and my crawl space had water. Carlos came and evaluated the problem and promised me that they will fix it. They did in two weeks.

I worked with them a few days, they are friendly and hardworking crew. They come on time, quiet and clean up every day.

Carlos is such a nice person and easy to talk to. I also want to thank Hector, Jacob, Luis and other team members, for their professionalism and hard work.

I would highly recommend this company.

These guys replaced both my sewer and water lines (from street to house.) Very competitive price, only had to dig at either end of the new lines, and cleaned up very well. The guys that run the teams make sure things are done right and put back as they were found. I'd use them again, but I don't expect to need to fix either line in my lifetime.

I had a great time yesterday dealing with Ernie VillaLobos about getting my sewer line replaced! Now it seems a little strange considering the subject to talk about a great experience but I must say Ernie is an absolutely great guy.
After carefully explaining  his video inspection of my sewer lateral he recommended that I not hire his company to fix it!   He told me I could get another five or 10 years of use from the line before paying thousands of dollars to have it replaced.
I find that honesty refreshing and only wish that all the service people I deal with were as straightforward and helpful as Ernie.
I almost never give five stars on Yelp but TrenchFree deserves it.    You will not  be disappointed.

We needed to replace our broken main water line. About 1100 ft of HDPE line. We are so glad we called TrenchFree. Carlos, Juan, Luis and crew were very professional, easy to deal with, and very knowledgable. It was a difficult job through rough terrain, but TrenchFree got it done. They kept us informed on the progress of the job each day. They used top quality fusion equipment to make sure of NO Leaks. When finished, they pressure tested the line to 150 psi with no leaks. GOOD JOB! We will definitely call them again in the future for our plumbing needs.

Can't say enough good things about this company. They called me with a quote minutes after requesting one through yelp. Carlos showed up on time a few days later and explained the process of installing a trenchless sewer. They sent me a quote the next day that was lower than all the others. I had also waited weeks and even months for other companies to provide me with a quote.
The job was done in a day, they kept me in the loop and handled all permits. If that wasn't enough, I discovered after the fact that a sprinkler pipe had gotten cracked during their installation and they promptly repaired it with no excuses or hassle.
If other companies were this good being a homeowner would be a heck of a lot easier!
I am not normally one to write Yelp reviews but I recommend them 100%!

Our main water line broke the day after Thanksgiving.  I was a little panicked given it was a holiday weekend, the kids and I had no water AND I was headed out of the country the next day.  TrenchFree was recommended by our realtor.  I called and got Ernie on the third ring.  Despite being over an hour away visiting family, Ernie promised he would come and help us.  True to his word Ernie and his team arrived and fixed the main line. They were cordial, professional, timely and kind to inquisitive children. They saved us!

Had a crack in our sewer line inside a slab foundation. Was not looking forward to jackhammering out the floor so decided to try a cure in pipe liner solution. Felipe and crew at TrenchFree gave us a good quote and we're out the next day to fix the line. They came when they said they would and finished when they said they would. Repair looks great and they even restored the landscaping back the way it was before they started. Very happy with their work!

We had a very good experience with TrenchFree by JD Plumbing.

Our sewer lateral collapsed and we needed a plumbing company to replace our entire lateral line.  Ernie was early to our appointment even though it was fairly last-minute and at the end of his day.  He spent over an hour checking out our fairly-complicated problem and considering his estimate.  Ernie was friendly and knowledgeable.  He was very honest and clear about the work that he thought needed to be done, and he took the time to explain the problems and possible solutions.

His estimate was very fairly priced.

Fantastic, Professional, efficient and responsible!
Trenchfree completed my sewage connection with the city in Saratoga (trenchless way), demolished my septic tank, and kept my deck, landscape in the same perfect condition.  Their pricing is reasonable, and competitive.  From the first person I dealt with (Freddy) , to their work team, led by Carlos, each and every personnel was professional and knowledgeable in their position.  They were there to make sure each and every process were carried out correctly.  (Moving and re-planting trees, opening and putting back decks..etc)  I was present during several city inspector's visit, and was very satisfied with how proficient Carlos resolved issues with the inspectors.   This was a very big job for my property, and therefore I was very very tedious with my questions.  Carlos and Freddy were patient in answering my questions, made sure I was 100% satisfied and updated.   Project was finished by date promised.   Definitely recommend this company!

TrenchFree came out to install a new lateral back in September 2014. The lateral replaced was only from the house to curb since we couldn't afford to do the entire way to main sewer line. It involved going into the city streets.

Fast forward a year later, we are having back up problems again. We called TrenchFree yesterday 8/21/15 to have them come check out what the heck was going on and they came right away!  The two young gentlemen (wish I got their names) that came were very profession, polite and patient. They checked and ruled out nothing was wrong with their line, but the problem was coming from the unreplaced old clay pipes (curb to main sewer line). Roots are growing and causing blockage.  They didn't have their actual work truck because they came in a hurry in their boss's nice truck from a different job site, so they drove to Home Depot to rent a snake machine!  They cleared the line for us and didn't even charge. Wow...that's what I call customer service.  I work in the service industry and that's the type of things we talk about constantly... going the extra mile.

Thanks to them we have a little extra time to figure out next steps. We definitely will be calling them for an estimate ASAP. The first time Ernie came out to give us an estimate (camera the lines for free too) and he was awesome and explained everything in a way we understood, a huge reason why we chose TrenchFree in the first place!

We had an appointment for 10 am today. They did not show and did not call. I don't know how they can stay in business with such poor service. We now have to wait 2 more days for anyone else to come. I don't know how they have such glowing reviews. This is my first experience with them. I will modify my review if they have a good excuse.

Edited next morning:
It appears there was an honest miscommunication and they responded within hours and have already come and fixed the issue. Great way to redeem themselves. I'm happy to modify my original rating.

My elderly nextdoor neighbor needed his water main replaced - it was leaking 166 gals an hour and it was too old to be worth trying to fix. We got four quotes.  Three of them wanted to trench the entire distance (something like 230 feet) which involved tearing up the driveway, cutting lots of roots on some very old and valuable oak trees, three days of work, and a huge mess.  Those quotes ranged from $14,000 to over $25,000.

Carlos came and looked at it and said he could do it with just a small hole at each end, no damage to the trees or driveway, etc.  He was super nice and answered all of my and my neighbor's questions.  The quote was about $8000 including an upgrade to a larger line in case a future remodel forces sprinkler installation.

They had a crew out a few days later.  Again, really nice guys, super respectful toward my neighbor.  They were there less than a day.  They replaced all the mess of old galvanized pipes, and multiple valves and a hose spigot at the front of the house with a nice neat, clean, all copper (type-k!) manifold.  They cleaned up really well and checked back a few days later to make sure all was well.

I can't think of a single thing I would want them to have done differently.

Excellent service! TrenchFree is very responsive to email and phone calls. TrenchFree came out and inspected our sewer pipe system, showed us the problems and gave us an estimate all in the same day. Permits were pulled and the work was done 3 days after we approved the work. The entire process was top notch, communication was clear and easy, very professional! Thank you!

I join the membership of 5 stars for this company! We had a sewage drain that needed replacement. From the moment we contacted this company, to the completion of the job, they are amazing. We called for an estimate, (one of many,) they arrived on time, received the estimate in a flash, (lowest we had received.) After a few rescheduling (not them, us,) dates, Felipe, Andres, and Rafael arrived, (on time.) All the necessary permits, and PG&E assessment was done. They ran into a problem with a huge bush that was in the way, so they obtained permission to remove it, and did so, (we were taking it out anyway.) It had roots to China, so was very labor intensive. They completed the job, took all the bush waste with them, and cleaned up, as though they weren't even there. We now have a new sewage pipe, that no longer backs up yuckies into our tub and showers! Great company, highly recommend them. I am a real person, who actually had this work done.

Our sewer line was backed up 2 months ago and we called Mr Rooter, they came and opened the clutch, they put a camera and told us lines are offset and recommended changing the entire main sewer line costing us roughly $18,000 if they want to dig in....
After a few estimate from different plumbing companies Ernest from Trench Free company came and spent easy 40 minutes checking whole 93 feet sewer line with his camera.
Ernest Villalobos was very hones, friendly and very knowledgeable,
He didn't charge us for his camera work and suggested we don't need to replace line, he said the only problem is a little root interfering inside pipe which can be fixed very cheap
Strongly recommended ...

WOW! This company has Morals and respect for their customers. One of the scariest things I was facing my rental property in San Jose had sewer line problems my tenants cannot flush their toilets I called Roto router out to clear the line they were unable to clear the line and was quoting me a ridiculous amount of money I looked at the reviews for trench free the reviews were so good so I was willing to just spend whatever it took to fix the problem with this reputable company I had no idea that when I called the higher then they would advise me that this was a city problem they referred me to the city the city came out and fixed it for free trench free could've charged me up to $20,000 for the work that needed to be done. But Felipe treated me like I was family said he would be happy to come out and give me a quote if the city didn't do what they were supposed to do he said it's not about the money it's about making sure you have what you need in this day and age where everybody is taking advantage of everybody it was so refreshing to be able to trust somebody to do the right thing.
This restored my faith in humanity I would recommend this company whole heartedly!

We recently ran into sewer problem that might require some replacement. Felipe from TrenchFree came to the site and did some investigation. He took his time and patience to investigate the situation also to explain it to our concerning neighbors. He was professional, knowledgeable and patient. Our sewer structure is a bit complicated than others. We ended up will probably not have to do replacement at the moment since the problem might be city's. But, we are so grateful with Felipe from TrenchFree. Will definitely call them up if we need to do any sewer projects down the road!

Carlos came out to our house and was amazing.    First of all I was not having a problem with my sewer line/pipe from house to street.   However I had a large tree growing near my sewer line , and I assumed that the line was 4 inch clay.  That  was what I told by many of the people in the know in the Holiday Lake neighborhood I live in.  That is why I called to get my sewer line checked out and also the city of Morgan Hill was offering grant money to fix the  lateral sewer lines. They were offering to pay a large part of the inspection and repair or replace, whatever was needed.

Carlos came and gave me prices about cctv.   Also  explained to me how they repair broken or leaking sewer lines by essentially putting a pipe inside the broken pipe.    He did put a camera into my line and he checked out about 2/3 of it  with the  camera.  I watched the video screen while he pushed the cable with the camera on one end.   Only took about 15 minutes.  The camera  didn't make it to the street because there was a sharp right angle downward in the pipe.   He did not find anything serious but told me the pipe I had was cast iron 4 inch diameter.   I was surprised and thankful I had a cast iron pipe and  not the clay pipe that many of my neighbors had.   The only thing I could assume that one of the previous owners prior to 1978 had already changed the clay pipe.   Anyway I was so elated that I said I would write a positive review on yelp.   I highly recommend this company.   They are honest and  very helpful.

I found TrenchFree on here on Yelp, and scheduled a visit for a quote to replace my existing 3 main sewer line with a smaller 1.25 required for my new lift pump.
The service from the initial phone call was excellent - kind, professional and courteous.
Carlos arrived right on time, with a big smile and a friendly attitude.
He listened carefully while I walked him through my requirements, and offered valuable advice.
I did most of the project DIY, and Carlos quickly realized that it is an easy job and suggested that I could just do it myself.
He showed me how to do the work, pointed out all the equipment that I'll need, and even showed me where I can rent it!
He didn't charge me a dime for his time, even though he spent more than 30 minutes with me and walked me through the solution patiently.
People like Carlos and companies like TrenchFree restore my faith in the human race, which has suffered somewhat after some recent contractor experience...
Carlos spelled it out best: I'm not here to take your money and leave, I want you to be happy long term, and this it what will make my business prosper. Well Carlos, you are very right.
I now know where to go when I'll need your plumbing services in the future, and so will all my family and friends in the area.
Well done Carlos! TrenchFree ROCKS!

We found out at 1pm that we had a leak in the main water line running under the ground (and  under huge redwood trees) from street to house. Researched options and found Trenchfree on the web, called them at 1:30, Juan shows up at 2:30, gives me a verbal quote followed couple of hours later by a written quote via email. The quote was the at least $1000-$2000 cheaper than the other quotes that we got, and it also had no ifs and buts like the others. Authorized immediately. Two-member crew shows up at 8:15am next morning, finishes the job by 4pm with very little noise or other inconvenience to us. The tree roots were tricky but they were able to get through them fine (Other plumbers were not so confident when they gave us the quote). Trenchfree also cleaned up the site as if it were never touched in the first place. We are so happy that we replaced our 40-yr old PVC pipe with HDPE, and we are so glad we went with Trenchfree for the job.

EDIT:
Bottom line:
If you're doing PG&E work with Trenchfree, make sure you ask a lot of questions about EXACTLY what they are, and are not, going to do.. how long it will take, what you will be responsible for, etc...
I'm changing this from 1* to 3* because I appreciate the owner coming and talking to me, and I think they have some valid points. I don't think everything went perfectly, so I can't justify 5*, but I feel better about them and might consider them if I had work to do in the future.
--------------------------------------
Old Review (w/  a few edits)
I didn't completely understand the scope of the work between my contractor, PG&E, and Trenchfree... and after literally 20 months of fighting to get a new gasline installed, I finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel and signed the contract. My mistake.
The quote they gave me stated will coordinate with PG&E in order to complete the remainder of the work. I don't know if that was done at all, to be honest. I had to stay on top of PG&E. And when PG&E inevitably delayed the work (because they are THE WORST), there was no communication, so I had guys show up on the wrong day.
I spoke with the owner of Trenchfree, and we agreed that PG&E is mostly to blame for this issue, but I think we also figured out where his business could do better.

When it was all said and done, all Trenchfree had to do was back fill 20ft of trench (2.5 ft deep, 18inches wide). I have a hard time reconciling or justifying how much I was charged for this, but again... after speaking with the owner, I understand that everyone needs to be certified by PG&E to do this type of work. So yeah, it costs more. Its like going to a therapist who charges $250/hr. Does that seem right? Not really, but its what you're stuck with when dealing with PG&E work.

I reached out to several companies for quotes to replace the water main line for my parents' house. Eric from TrenchFree went onsite right away and provided a quote without needing me to be present. TrenchFree's quote was reasonable and comparable to another quote I got (this other company didn't have availability for two weeks!), but there was one thing that I needed to clarify: matching concrete after the work is done. Eric was willing to do the best they can and I expressed that I understood even the same concrete may look different simply because it's new, and the job was on! The crew identified a need for a pressure regulator and an external tank which would cost extra. They walked me through the reasoning and showed me the readings as I requested. Everyone from the office operator to the front line was professional throughout the whole process. Everything went well and the new concrete turned out pretty well, but the gardener called the next day that the sprinklers were not connected. Eric sent the crew to get that fixed immediately. There was another twist: after the connections were made, the sprinkler valve was having issues and the lawn wasn't getting water. The gardener alerted me the following week when he was there, and I called Eric in to assess the situation (we met in person for the first time). He realized that a sprinkler specialist is needed, and brought in Jose of Tierra Buena Landscaping to the rescue. Jose was able to figure out the problem, fit us in and fix the problem the very next morning, before he needed to travel. Took a few twists and turns, and we appreciate & recommend TrenchFree (esp. Eric), as well as would be happy to recommend Jose of Tierra Buena Landscaping as well!

I hired Trench Free on the basis of the reviews here.  I wish I had just had a trench dug and NOT hired Trench Free. Please post if you have real experience to share.  The general manager responded to my concerns by claiming the five star reviews are accurate and he wishes he could review customers like me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carlos Dias is the sales person.  On his consultation visit, I had asked if he was actually the one on the jobs and he said yes.  Actually he does not attend the job and the communication was poor between  him and the person who was in charge on site because many aspects of the job were not discussed.

Examples:

Carlos had agreed that my new water line would be a foot over from current location and he'd connect it to my house water.  This was needed to comply with current code which requires water lines to be more than 36 from gas meter.  The actual foreman Luis knew nothing of that, argued with me, didn't want to move the water line or do the connection.  Stress.  I had to argue to get it done.  Luis is not an easy guy to deal with.  If they didn't move it, then my permit would not have passed final inspection and my gas meter upgrade that is pending with PG&E would never get done.

Carlos had agreed no elbows were needed (they affect the water pressure) and that the length of the long water line would be straight with one sweeping bend.  Luis installed three 90-degree elbows in the water line and my house pressure is now 5 PSI below the pressure at my water meter.  Luis claimed my water pressure is fine at the lower amount -- but that's not the point.  It's not his decision whether to lower my pressure 5 PSI or not just to be lazy.

Carlos said the new polyethylene water line would have wire wrapped around it, so it would be traceable in the future (because not a metal pipe).  I looked in one of the multiple open trenches they dug (note: multiple trenches not trenchless) and saw the wire ended in one of the trenches and did not continue.  I brought it to their attention.  I asked them several times to trace the wire and see how much water line had no wire (the line was ~200 feet).  Lucky I caught it because they had to dig yet *another* trench and spend half a day to repair this mistake just to finish running the tracing wire.

Their drilling truck will make holes in your pavement where it has to anchor.  The holes are about 6 diameter but they are going to cut big rectangles and patch too.  Leaving about 10 big rectangular patches.

Carlos said it was a 1-2 day job. Actual 4 days not including the asphalt repair which is still pending.  Understandable because some things were harder than Carlos made them out to be but Carlos should have realized it was not a 1-2 day job or given that expectation.  Since I live on a cul-de-sac and my neighbors would lose access during the job it was important to have an accurate prediction because they were angry when it lasted longer than they were warned.

I was without water for the majority of their working time - not JUST on the day they connected the new line.  Why?  They cut through my existing water line not once but twice with their drilling.  Had to patch it twice, each time resulting in hours without water.  Once was overnight and they hooked up a hose to our house to provide water overnight. However the hose was not drinking water safe and most hoses have lead. A company that replaces water lines should know a general rubber hose is not drinking water safe.  They did not know what I was talking about. Then on the day they connected the new line we were without water as expected for several hours.

The last day was crazy.  They scheduled inspection when they were not actually done.  Electrician showed up on last day to rush hooking up a ground wire from the house water pipes to my main electrical meter.  No one planned ahead for the fact that the main meter was on a detached garage and how to get the wire there from the house water pipes.  They were going to bury it a couple inches below dirt where any shovel would have severed it.  Luckily I had installed conduit under ground for my future use and allowed them to use it.  No one at the company had thought about this aspect of the job.

Carlos never mentioned they'd be running my water from my hose all day every day as they did their drilling (except of course when they cut my water line twice).  I asked who was paying for all that water.  Carlos said to tell him if my water bill was high and they'd reimburse me.  When PG&E had trenched my new power line, they supplied their own water.  Beware Trench Free plans to use a lot of yours.

The job is not finished - they have not come to repair the asphalt and I have not yet received my water bill for reimbursement.  Yet I got a notice of a mechanics lien tonight.  I checked with Carlos and his only response call billing.  He refuses to do anything.

Unfortunately we discovered a small leak in our main water line underneath the driveway. Our water bill was nearly triple! I called several plumbers and everyone seemed to have the same two answers: either dig up the concrete or move the main water line so it is parallel to the driveway. So I went on Yelp and did some research and called JD Plumbing and spoke with Freddy. He came out within an hour and gave me an estimate. I mentioned that I found him on Yelp and he instantly gave me 10% off. We both agreed on the price and he said that his crew would come by the following day at 8 AM.

The following day Nicolas and Audel arrived on time. They were friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and meticulous. The first thing they did when they arrived was put down two large pieces of plywood so the driveway would not get muddy during the pipeline replacement. They used the pipe bursting method to remove and install the new main water line. After putting in the line, Nicolas then carefully assembled all the plumbing hardware, checking all of his welds 2-3 times for fit and finish. Afterwards they cleaned up and it was almost as if they never came to the house. The warranty on the parts and labor is lifetime.

I highly recommend TrenchFree to anyone for their excellent work.

Carlos came over today and inspected my sewer, which gets clogged every month. He inspected the sewer line and I have to say, he exactly does what I would appreciate a consultant should do. He noticed what the problem is, but it is not something his companies' solution can resolve. NOW that is an awesome recommendation, apparently the configuration of my piping is as such that his advise is to put in new piping because there are some turns and joints that cause the build up. there are plenty of companies who would sell you their services and solutions and the problem is still not fixed and you spent money but the problem does not go away. Carlos was very elaborate on the solutions they can provide and I am happy to know now, because I will use them next time
I highly recommend them and will use them hands-down for any issue

I hired them based on the reviews here and they did not disappoint... they're real professionals... everyone from the person who gave the estimate to each crew member... they were courteous, prompt and professional. They took their time to get the job done correctly. Very impressed!!! **Ernie, the one who came out to give me the estimate, is not a salesperson... He is genuine. He gave me a very fair price without trying oversell... Really nice guy.

Update - I believe a true measure of a company's commitment to quality and service is how they treat you after they've been paid. I had a couple of issues about a month after the job was done. I really appreciated the fact that they promptly sent someone to fix the problem both time.

I'm overdue writing this review. Eric and his team did this work several months ago, and were absolutely wonderful. What we thought we were looking at (since we live in a split level house with a crawl space that was only about 2.5 feet where the sewer pipe came into the house) an incredibly difficult, expensive and messy job-including jack hammering up concrete stairs etc. Eric came out and prepared a quotation, spent lots of time with us, gave us videos to understand the problem before we committed  to the job (something other plumbers would not do without charging very high video inspection and camera rental fees).   On top of an incredible job, that is working flawlessly, their water folks are great. I had a request to install an automatic flow measurement device after the sewer work was done, and was not very clear on how I wanted it installed. Long story short, Eric and his installers read through the manual (even though I just said:  Install it here.) and came back to help me out several times as I realized a variety of mistakes I had made regarding where I asked the valve to be installed. Completely unrelated to the problem at hand, but the company worked with me cheerfully and helped me accomplish what I originally wanted to do with both the sewer AND the automatic water valve! Top notch company, with wonderful people and a very strong work ethic, attention to detail, and customer orientation. I'd use TrenchFree again in a heart beat. Thanks Eric and TrenchFree! We had a main water line leak and it was not visible, it was under the side walk.  I contacted several companies to get an estimate and they all were very high and would break the concrete to repair the pipe. A friend of my recommended TrenchFree company and I called them and made an appointment for an estimate. On the scheduled day Carlos Dias came on time to give me an estimate. He was one of the friendlies person ever. He explained what they are going to do to fix the problem. The estimate was the best among the other companies. Reading the Yelp reviews and Carlos's presentation we decided to go with TrenchFree company. They came on time and fixed the problem in a very short time without disturbing any landscape, or breaking the concrete. I strongly recommend TrenchFree without reservation. In fact I will hire them again to install clean-outs to my sewer lines.

Called Trench Free at 7:00am about a visible leak in our water line running to the main line in our 1960's era track home. By 9:00am they had come out to see the issue and do an estimate, at 10:00am we signed the estimate, and by 12:30 guys were at our house getting right to work. It's now 5:45pm and they've been gone for an hour, the job finished and no trace of them even being here. I think my lawn actually looks nicer than it did before they dug one small area for access.

The guys doing the work were efficient, honest and 100% professional. The price was fair.  And I cannot say enough about how quick and painless the entire process was.

If you live in a 50-year old house, have been pretending the galvanized pipes under your front lawn are just fine, and you've grown accustomed to having running water, maybe you should call these guys.

I can't say enough about this company. We had to have a sewer line replaced. They showed up when they said, they were clean, professional. It is a horrible job and in the 90' heat, they never missed a beat. They handled ALL the inspections and the only hold up was on the inspectors. They explained everything, what they did, why and options. They cleaned up and repaired everything. We had a small leak in the sprinkler line that no one knew about, they were there the next day to fix it. Pipe had cracked back from where they were working and they fixed it!!!!!  These guys are great..Thank you Felipe Sanchez and your crew!!

We had sewer issues and solicited multiple bids. TrenchFree had a comprehensive plan, including obtaining all necessary permits, which they clearly explained. Their price was reasonable and their performance -- before, during and after the repairs -- was outstanding. We could not be more satisfied.

Short Version: It was a no brainer decision to choose TrenchFree for our sewer lateral replacement.

+No inspection fee
+Most competitive quote among 6 competitors
+Best (lifetime) offered warranty
+Price included the required building permit
+Every interaction was professional and timely (Thanks Felipe and Jose!)

Long Version: At the end of 2020 we discovered that our sewer lateral had rotted through in the middle of our yard, and also had major root intrusion under the sidewalk causing monthly backups. The initial quote from the plumbing company that performed the unclogging was nearly $20K for a full replacement out to the main. I immediately started shopping around for competing quotes, including paying $400+ dollars total in inspection fees to various competitors just for the privilege of receiving a quote. My search led me to the TrenchFree website which is very professional and gave me the initial impression that they would probably provide a quote at the higher end of the spectrum, but that was not the case. Felipe at TrenchFree provided a free inspection and an economical quote for a partial replacement of the upper asbestos sewer lateral that had rotted through the bottom, and the middle clay sewer lateral that had major root intrusion. Their price included the building permit, with a  quoted per hour price for sourcing an additional encroachment permit that may be necessary. They were pretty backed up (no pun intended) around the end of 2020 but provided a realistic time estimate for sourcing the building permit and starting the work once the contract was signed. An added bonus was that now that we were TrenchFree customers if our lateral clogged again before replacement, they would come out and clear it for free. Jose stayed in contact and called me once their schedule opened up and the permit was sourced to begin the work. The work was completed over 2 days, one full day for the lateral replacement and one morning for the inspection and finishing touches. The crew lined up the encroachment permit, but was able to complete the job without digging up the sidewalk or pavement so they cancelled the permit and didn't even bill for the time they spent sourcing it (saving me $1000+). After payment I was provided a copy of the building permit for my records. Our yard is semi-landscaped and is in the same condition as before the work was performed, which is impressive given the amount of dirt that was excavated. As a homeowner the entire process was seamless and the TrenchFreee team made it as positive and experience as possible. I highly recommend this company!

Some very honest folks over there at TrenchFree.

Eric M. came by for an estimate on what was looking like a major job. Some thorough investigation by Eric revealed the issue was not what we thought and would not be solved with replacing the sewer main line.

So very happy to have called these guys for a estimate.

Always suspicious when a company has nothing but 5-star reviews. These guys deserve the entire constellation. Very professional, prompt, courteous, get the job done attitude with minimal intrusion, and leave as though they were never there.

This technology doesn't come cheap but given the option of tearing up asphalt, pavers or concrete patios, the job gets done in 1/10th the time with 1/100th the chaos of trenching up the outdoors. Given the overall expense and inconvenience of trenching and replacing the landscape and hardscape, it's a no-brainer.  6-stars if it was an option!

They missed our first appointment for a quote but made the second exactly on time. Gave a fair quote and did good work. Would have gotten five stars if they hadn't missed the first appointment.
