I live in Dana Point and like to keep my business local, so I called Shaffer Plumbing when I suspected I had a slab leak. Tyree Shaffer arrived on time and identified the leak in my downstairs bathroom toilet line, and offered a solution to repipe with pex. He worked quickly and cleaned as he went, which I appreciated as he had to make cuts in the drywall to expose the manifold and get over to the toilet. He was respectful of the removed drywall pieces, labeling and keeping them whole, as he knew I could re use them when patching the drywall later. Tyree solved the leak problem in no time, and he also drained and flushed my water heater, and installed a new sink p-trap and new aerators on my bathroom faucets. He was thorough, professional, respectful and I thought his pricing was very fair, considering all the work he did for me. I will recommend Tyree and Shaffer Plumbing highly, and they will be my first call for my future plumbing needs.

Great expert service.  Nate was able to discover a pinhole slab leak that had flooded my kitchen area.  He exhausted all other possibilities before he cut open the drywall in back of the dishwasher; where he showed me the water burbling out of a sheath that surrounds the pipe exiting from the slab.

First Plumbing Contractor I called and they were great from the first phone call. Ty took my call, worked around my schedule, assessed the moisture in my bathroom, did a couple tests, and determined it was a minor leak through the old shower grout. For a young new home owner, I will definitely be giving Schaffer a call next time I have any complications at my house.

The worst EVER plumbing company I have ever experienced.  They installed 2 faucets in my master bathroom and both were leaking; they charged me and extra $125. on top of the $400 quoted for the faucets I had already purchase for fixtures at home depot.  Not only did the faucet leak, Shaffer Plumbing came back and would not give me the time of day to fix the problem.  Told me I had to contact Kohler.  Walked out without a care in the world because I had already paid them WAY to much for their incompetent service.  NEVER use this horrible company...you will be taken to the cleaners and left with a mess.

Family owned with decades of experience and great customer service.  I liked their personal interaction/communication, quick response, and professional action.  They were very clean and ensured everything was done well.  

They replaced my tub and plumbing about 4 months ago, and it has been perfect since.  

I would use them again without hesitation.

After screwing a hole in a water line while trying to install a shelf yesterday I called Shaffer.  Tyree answered, heard my problem and was there with me 2 hours later as promised.  He fixed the pipe super fast and was kind and friendly.   The price was very reasonable given that this was an emergency call out.  I would highly recommend Tyree and the Shaffer Plumbing company and will definitely use again.  (hopefully I dont hit any more pipes while installing shelves though!)

I have had to call Jeff Shaffer plumbing twice to my house, and both times they showed up on time and were the most competitively priced plumbers around. I had to call late afternoon Friday and they still showed up in half an hour!  Thrilled by the service provided by both Jeff and his son, Ty.  100% recommended

We had a cracked fiberglass tub and surround. We called 4 contractors/plumbers for quotes. One quote came from an estimator from a large company and it was very expensive. One plumber never sent the quote. One contractor came in lower, but he was slow to respond and it wasn't a complete job leaving us to patch drywall, patch flooring and paint. Jeff quoted a very fair price for all the work completed.

Jeff did exactly what he said he would do. He started the day he said he would and worked all day each day until the job was completed. The tub and surround he selected are attractive and of good quality. The installation was perfect. The drywall and flooring were perfectly patched.

For an efficient job whether it's a small or large job I recommend that you call Jeff. I don't believe that he would let you down.

We needed a valve changed in our kitchen.  I called and left a message and received a call back about 30 minutes later.  We set up an appointment for the next morning.  Tyree arrived on time, we agreed on a price, and he started work.  Everything was fixed quickly and professionally.  I would definitely use Shaffer Plumbing again.

Shaffer Plumbing is an outstanding outfit. I've had them out a number of times, and every time they came they were professional, efficient, and, most importantly, honest. One time I was trying to track down a leak that I feared was a slab leak. I had three different plumbers out, including Shaffer, to try and detect the leak. The two other plumbers told me that they had detected a leak inside the house and told me I needed a re-pipe. Shaffer told me there was no leak inside the house and told me instead to look at the outdoor piping. It turns out that was exactly where the leak was. Because of their honesty, they saved me from spending a ton of unnecessary money.

We called for service on a Monday night (non urgent), Tyree was at our door Wed morning at 0900.  Tyree was friendly, professional and efficient. Not only did he replace some of our plumbing but he was able to remove the old fixtures without sawing them off as a previous plumber told us he would  have to do ($$).  Tyree saved us money and even fixed our shower head without us even knowing their was anything wrong with it!  Can't believe the water pressure now!  Had no idea we were missing out.  Can't thank Tyree enough for doing a professional job, saving us money and enlightening us of what a shower should be like!  Will ALWAYS use this company.

Last week while taking a shower , the control handle literally broke off in my hand with the hot water still running! YEKES!  I was able to turn off the water for the house and called Jeff on a Saturday.  Within an hour his son Tyree was at our home and had the part to fix it.

Ty just left my home after my first time using this plumber.  He arrived on time, went straight to work and left the work area neat and tidy.  And when he realized there was more work than originally estimated, he rearranged his schedule to complete the job this morning - big bonus!

While here, he tweaked a couple of other things and worked through the challenges of changing faucet brands and using existing holes in the granite countertop.  A great experience all around!

I've used Shaffer Plumbing twice now. First time was when I needed to change some valves and install a Phyn (water leak detector).  Ty was able to install it without a problem. He was extremely honest and mentioned that this was his first time installing this unit. And he did a great job. Just had Ty out again to do a few odds and ends and he took care of that too.  Pricing is fair. Glad to have a trustworthy plumber in the neighborhood.

I had my tank less hot water heater evaluated within a day because it was an emergency. Not only did this company beat the price of the prior plumber, the two guys who worked on the unit, Jeff and Ty were very kind and stayed through their lunch break to get our hot and cold water back on for the residents staying in my facility. If you need a plumber, i highly recommend Jeff Shaffer - you won't be disappointed.  I had Jeff's son Tyree in my home today and he was wonderful, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree indeed.

We had an old wall mounted toilet from '60s that stopped flushing, and my husband found Jeff on Yelp.

It turned out to be a big job that involved opening the wall, breaking the tiles and jack hammering the cement, and putting everything back.  After we agreed on a price and he located/purchased/delivered a wall mounted toilet, Jeff found that normal toilet will save us a lot of money in toilet itself and labor, and asked us if we wanted to switch it.  We were so grateful, and bought a $200 toilet at Lowes.  

It took a week to complete the work.  I met 3 of his crew and they were all very nice to work with and on time as well.  Jeff was always easy to get hold of and dropped by often to check progress.  The pricing was very reasonable and they did an excellent job.  I don't know how they found the old matching tiles, but when it was all done it looked like nothing has been touched.  Let me also add that Jeff even introduced us to an electrician who came to fix some complex wiring issues on a day's notice--he was just as nice to work with.  It was a pleasure and it feels great to have found a dependable business to call in the future.

Very pleased with Jeff Shaffer Plumbing.  Nate showed up to my house on time and ready to help.  He went above and beyond, going to the nearby hardware store to pick up the specific turn valve my wife requested.  It was an easy job, new nozzle for an outside hose, but the job was clean and quick.  Nate was very friendly and very respectful.

I will definitely use Jeff Shaffer plumbing in the future, it is nice to finally have a good plumber that won't overcharge.

Super friendly and personable. Very cool and laid-back guys. They even came on Columbus Day, which was the day we called them. We had Nate and I can't remember the other fellow's name. We originally called for a toilet clog and they noticed we also had our shower and sink clogged too, so they fixed those as well! Apparently my stepdad has been going to them for years and I can see why!

These guys are hands-down the best. I called Jeff at 11am and explained my problem.  I sent him photos, he gave me a price and scheduled to come out at 2pm.  He was on time and fixed my seized faucet cartridge in 15 minutes.  I had a plumber out earlier in the day that gave me a quote for $550!!
Jeff completed the job and it was $275.
Way to go!! I will call you again!

Real review from new client. Shaffer Plumbing replaced faucets yesterday for two bathroom sinks at our home. I'd found them on Yelp and called to get an estimate, then got another estimate from another plumber I also found on Yelp. Both were about the same price, so I went with the Shaffer since they had the best reviews. Jeff and his son, Ty, both came out with Ty doing most of the work. Both were professional, flexible (I had to change days for the visit), pleasant, informative, and got the work done in a timely manner. No nonsense, no problems. I'll use them again when I need plumbers.

We have hired Jeff and Tyree to do major work on multiple occasions including moving toilet plumbing, diagnosing and fixing a leak, re-piping a portion of our house and installing a new tub and rough in shower valves. They have done great work every time! We recently needed them to come out on short notice because we didn't realize we needed a diverter valve installed for a new hand held shower and we had tile guys coming later that week. They were able to squeeze us in the following day. They have always been reliable and have always done the work at a very fair price. They are definitely our go - to for any plumbing work!

I hired Shaffer Plumbing to diagnose a water leakage coming out of siding outside of my condo next to kitchen.  The crew quickly identified the root cause.  The kitchen faucet piping was punctured by a new shiny nail from the siding installation contractor.  They took a video clearly showing the damaged pipe so that I can get the contractors to repair the damages caused by their siding project.  I am very happy with Schaeffer Plumbing's professionalism and expertise.  I would not hesitate to hire them again for all my future plumbing needs!

it is not easy to find a good plumber and we were so lucky to have Jeff come out initially when we had a water main leak. Today, Tyree replaced several hose shut off valves as well as fixing an outdoor shower that was everything but straightforward.

Five projects and counting!

I will start by saying that my husband is very talented and handy, and can do pretty much all of what we have hired Jeff & Co to do.  But like with everybody I know, time is the one commodity we don't have enough of.  He also has a very critical eye and a stickler for details.  He wants things completed at a high level or not at all.  If they are not done to his level, he will have you back until it is done right and will stand over your shoulder if he has to.  Through this renovation, there are very few companies we would recommend to anyone.  In fact, I can count them on less than one hand.  Jeff  & Co is one of those few I would feel comfortable putting my name behind and handing a friend, colleague, or my mother their business card.

All that said...

My husband and I recently bought a money pit...er... house and, somewhat unfortunately for us, we have needed their services more than we hoped.  But luckily for us, we have had Jeff and Crew each time to save our proverbial butts.

First, there were several problems with the repipe job another company did that Jeff and crew had to fix.  Nothing like having to fix a problem you didn't create, eh?   We needed an expansion tank installed to pass inspection.  The repipe company want $600 to install (incl parts and labor), these guys came in at a much more reasonable price.  There were other odds and ends Jeff did to complete out that job. He was always professional and was thoughtful in his suggestions and with any solutions he brought to the table.

Next we had him back to move the water line for the ice maker.

Third- We needed them back because the kitchen sink clogged up because some genius worker we had in the house rinsed plaster dust (or something of the like) down the sink! We called them in the evening and they were able to  adjust their schedule and were able to fix the issue the follow morning!  It was during this visit my husband met Ty, Jeff's protege and heir-apparent.  When I got home my husband, dare I say, actually gushed about how respective and polite Ty was.

After that, we had them back to do the shower, valve, and drain install for our powder room.   It was now my turn to meet Ty, and I must admit: My Husband Was Right. (I can't believe I just wrote that)  Now, as I said before, Jeff is a very nice man, and I can tell you the apple did not fall far from the tree with Ty!  Ty is one of the nicest guys I have met in a long time.  I have a sister around his age, and if there were more like him in his generation, the rest of us could breathe a sigh of relief.  Alas, there is not.

Now, finally, we are at the present task at hand.  Currently, Ty (and Jeff briefly)  is back and is working away at our new laundry and utility rooms.  Moving pipes and drains, and creating a mud area for us. Things are progressing and I can't wait to see how things turn out.

Once this project is done, we have two more to complete:  the Master and secondary bathrooms. You can bet it will be Jeff &  Co we call. As for the unforeseen events we encounter along the way,like a clogged sink at Thanksgiving or my son attempting to flush a 12-pak of TP down the toilet,  they will be our first call.

Tyree from Shaffer came to install a Smart by Moen water leak detection unit which he installed efficiently and neatly.  He ran around the house to ensure all water bubbles were out of the system after turning the mains off and highlighted a couple of minor things we could address in the future.
This is the 2nd install we have called Shaffer for and we are certain we shall have them back again .

Wow! So happy I found Shaffer Plumbing. I've been meaning to put a pressure regulator on our main water line for some time (high water pressure) and contacted several plumbers to help. After many failed attempts with other vendors, I gave Shaffer a call and got an immediate response.

Tyree came out the next day, quickly assessed what I was looking to accomplish, and quoted a very fair price for parts and labor. We called Tyree Because we thought we had a slab leak and he responded very quickly! He came over checked the floor and let us know it wasn't as bad as we thought! He fixed the bath tub faucet while he was here and is on his way today to change out the leaky toilet. Grateful he was honest and we didn't have to wait to get things done.

Charge me deposit the day he came give me estimate that took 15 minute. But did not make time to do the job while we remodeling bathroom.  
and did not return 10% deposit money.
Our friends said if they dont start the job they cant charge people deposit.

Been trying to contact him many times and he keep saying we had to meet in person . For what?
Telephone conversation is already clear that he need to give us back the deposit since the job is not done by him.

I came home yesterday to water spraying from underneath my front lawn into the driveway. After shutting the main water off I called Jeff and he came out within the hour. Even though I was in most plumber's favorite position (bent over by an emergency water leak!) Jeff was kind and didn't take advantage of the situation.

He laid out the likely causes of the problem and what that would mean in solution, time and cost for each before even digging up the pipe, which I really appreciate and demonstrated his experience. We agreed to have him come today

He shuffled his schedule for today to show up 3 hours EARLY for our scheduled appointment and showed me the problem within minutes of digging up the burst pipe in our yard. He didn't try to upsell us the more expensive option once it was obvious we had dodged the worst case scenario and was done on time and budget.

Highly recommend Jeff and so happy to have a local plumber we can call from now on!

Shaffer plumbing staff were professional and friendly. They arrived on time although they had texted me when they thought they would be few minutes late. A toilet needed to be replaced and there was a leak under the kitchen sink. The toilet was replaced on the first visit and the sink, due to complexity, was rescheduled for few days later and the second visit was as smooth as the first. Highly recommend using Shaffer Plumbing for all your plumbing needs.

I needed to find a plumber that I could trust who is licensed, local, and had positive reviews.  We have been burned by many contractors so I was extremely wary of finding another person to come into our home to fix a very small leak and a jiggly handle in the master bath.

We are so DELIGHTED to find Shaffer Plumbing.  Jeff Shaffer, the owner, came out to assess our master bath shower and our hall bath shower.  For the master bath there was a very slight leak near the controller and the handle was jiggly.  Jeff knew exactly what needed to be done and replaced the cartridge and cartridge extender.  He had the parts with him, did extra items like remove the water restrictor because the water flow was less than desirable, and caulked the trim plate (which was not caulked before by the previous contractor). For the hall bath he looked at the wall that we still had opened and determined that it was the lipless bathtub that was the issue.  

It's the little things that make all the difference.  Jeff is super polite and professional.  PEACE OF MIND is what you will receive with Shaffer Plumbing.  Fair and affordable prices.  He was finished in less than an hour!

Also, per the Contractor's State License Board, Shaffer Plumbing has a B- General Building license AND a C36 Plumbing license. RARE!

We will definitely use him again if we have plumbing issues.

After some mixed experience with other plumbers in the Dana Point area, I thought I would try Shaffer based on their good reviews.  They quickly responded to my inquiry, and scheduled me in a reasonable amount of time.  It was not an emergency. Tyree, who did the work, was friendly, described the work in detail and gave a reasonable estimate before beginning.  His work was neat and competent.  I will definitely call Shaffer again when I need a plumber.
