ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER
Founder, visionary, and company president, Randy Gardner, brings nearly 40 years of experience to the company leadership. Originally from Canada, he moved to Southern California in 1984. Within a few years, his first plumbing company began servicing commercial and industrial companies such as Birtcher, Koll and Segerstrom. Shortly thereafter, Edwards Theaters (now owned by Regal), would award the company its service contract for over 80 theaters in Southern California.
PipeGuard was started by Randy Gardner. Randy has been plumbing for the better part of 40 years and knows all there is to know about the industry. He has worked extensively throughout California since moving here 30 years ago from Eastern Canada and was excited to make the transition to residential service from commercial, in order to help his neighbors with their plumbing needs!
Randy currently resides in Rancho Santa Margarita, California with his wife of 25 years and their three children.

I highly recommend Rancho Santa Margarita plumbing!
They are very responsive when you contact them. Elvia was my contact person and very helpful. She was unable to get me an appointment the next day. They were on time. Rene arrived and was able to fix the problem rather quickly. He was extremely polite and made me feel very comfortable. You could tell he had a lot of experience and was great about explaining what the problem was and how he would fix it.
We have used Santa Margarita Plumbing for years. They have fixed a minor slab leak that we caught early, installed a water heater, and have done minor work replacing sprinkler valves and completed under the kitchen work. Our water heater went out recently - (the burner unit needed to be replaced), we ended up needing to contact the water heater manufacturer ourselves, who turned out to be very responsive and proactive; they sent the part out promptly. The manufacturer provided a list of other plumbers who would install the part at no additional cost because the water heater was still under warranty. Unfortunately I was told by SMP that they no longer do business with the water heater company that made the water heater that I was sold because there were too many problems. (too bad for me I guess). The staff at Santa Margarita Plumbing are professional and pleasant.

Very disappointed in Santa Margarita Plumbing. I have used them for about 6 years now at 3 different homes. They used to be honest and reliable and priced very fairly. This time I had them out to unclog a drain and make a few plumbing adjustments. The plumber came without proper equipment. I was running around to find paper towels for him and looking for allen wrenches for a sink repair. A plumber should arrive with the tools to do the job and to clean up his mess. Bottom line he didn't have the tools to adjust my faucet and was trying to show ME how to do it once I purchased the allen wrench. Seriously!? If the plumber doesn't have the tools for the scheduled job they should make arrangements to come back to do it without charging me another service call. I really don't know what I paid for each part etc because I was not given an itemized receipt for each of the repairs, just everything lumped together at the plumbers own discretion. I let it go for about a week but it was really bothering me that I accepted this bad service. I called their office and was told that if I proceeded with ANOTHER $450 outdoor service they had given me a quote on they would fix the faucet otherwise they would charge me $165 to come back out to bring the proper sized tool and adjust the faucet. I already paid $350, again without a proper itemized receipt and now you want another $165 to finish the job when the incomplete work was YOUR plumbers fault not mine? I was very clear when I scheduled the appointment what I wanted done so there was no question prior to the appointment. I asked to have a manager call me to discuss the issue but nobody bothered to call back. Needless to say I will no longer use RSM plumbing. I don't find their pricing and practices to be up to my level of service with honesty and transparency. I want a company that stands behind their work and commitments.
We've used Homer only for our plumbing needs since we discovered him a couple years back. We owned an older home in Capistrano Beach built in 1990 with 5 bedrooms and bathrooms. We sold the house and had to fix quite a few plumbing issues. Homer provided great service at a reasonable cost. RSM Plumbing was recommended to us by a very reputable builder. Since we've moved to Talega in San Clemente we've used Homer exclusively for out plumbing issues including the install of a Noritz tankless hot water heater. We trust Homer implicitly to recommend the right solution for our particular plumbing problems.
In the middle of doing dishes, my kitchen faucet broke. I didn't want to call the plumber that we've used in the past because their prices were so high. Several of my neighbors had used Santa Margarita Plumbing previously, so I went with their recommendation ... and I'm happy I did.
Upon calling, Rolando answered the phone and was helpful and courteous. The plumber, Rene arrived at our home within an hour. He gave us a reasonable quote and went to work. A new faucet and two new angle stops were promptly installed, especially considering that Rene had to cut out the old faucet due to rust. Santa Margarita Plumbing will be our go-to plumbing company from now on. Thank you for the 5-star service!

I can't believe they have a bad review. This company performed like heroes! After dealing with two other plumbers I was thrilled to get in touch with Santa Margarita Plumbing, recommended to me by my neighbor.. Another company had bid $600 to fix the kitchen faucet but SMP did it for $200. Another company had fixed a toilet for $145 and the next week it was running like a creek. Santa Margarita Plumbing gave us the part to fix it (probably out of sympathy that we'd paid so much for a crummy job) and we were able to fix it ourselves. This company ROCKS. Call them without hesitation.

We've used Santa Margarita Plumbing on 5 separate occasions for both small and large jobs. They've consistently been professional, on time, clean (i.e. drop cloths used always) and proactively spend time explaining in detail before and after what needed to be done and WHY.
Additionally, they do NOT play typical contractor games with you having to call and chase them constantly just to have someone show up when they say they will. They've consistently been on time and have done exactly what they said they would without issue.
Working with both Rolando and Randy B. on multiple occasions to get qoutes has been both fair and reasonably priced, so thank you guys!
The above combination of on-time, professional, competent and reasonably priced seems to be non-existent these days, especially in South OC, so for these reasons, I highly recommend Santa Margarita Plumbing. They've consistently done great work with zero issues and by default we'll be using them in the future. Thank you!

I have used them on two separate occasions now. I have been very impressed with their level of responsiveness, integrity and skill. On one occasion I requested that they come out an have another look at a previous repair. They made the necessary correction without any hassle or haggle. The previous owner used them for a complete house re-pipe. I have now used them for a tankless waterheater and hydrojetting. They will definitely be my go-to plumber for future needs. Thanks
Beware....you will get ripped off from this plumbing company. They overcharge, do shotty work and then do not HONOR their work. Be prepared to pay through the nose and then when something goes wrong with the work they did, they refuse to honor their work. There are much more honorable plumbing companies out there and this is NOT one of them.
I won't call or refer them for any future estimates. Extremely high priced compared to other plumbing companies and dishonest communication. I'll leave it at that.
I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!!! WARNING:: THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. I have never experienced such a dishonest, outrageous company in my life as this company. They quoted me a ceiling reroute on a slab leak that would be a days work for $2,200.00. But when they got there they found out they didnt have to go up through the ceiling across the house but only had to re-pipe from the sink in the room to the toilet about 4ft away. Took him 2 hours! He still charged me $2,200.00!!! I don't know anyone who makes or deserves $1,100.00 AN HOUR, DO YOU? It is dishonest in my opinion to not have adjusted the charge after knowing they didn't have to do an all day job. I was even more shocked when I called to express how upset I was that they did this. They still wouldn't make it right. Felt it was important to let people know so they don't get ripped off also. They should lose their license for something so bad!

I called Santa Margarita Plumbing Heating and Air to resolve a leaking toilet issue. I set an appointment for a few days later and the evening before was called to confirm the appointment and my address. The technician (Randy Brewer) showed up exactly on time and took care of the issue promptly and professionally. He cleaned up before he left and really made this experience in working with his company enjoyable. I would not hesitate to call upon this firm again for any plumbing problems I had.

I had two other plumbing services come out. Alan from Santa Margarita Plumbing was the only one to fix the problem. He was professional, fast, and did an amazing job. I would highly recommend him.

Rol is fantastic and so is the entire crew! I had a water heater burst and air conditioner go out within 24 hours. Rol was extremely responsive coming out himself to help with the water heater emergency. I had him quote the air conditioner and found his quote very reasonable and he answered all my questions. The quote was honest as I compared it to other bids. They have a loyal life long client.

I had to replace one of our toilet because of a leak, I called the company and Rolando was very helpful, he ask a few questions and he knew right away what the problem was. He recommended a good brand that saves water. He was able to replace it right away. His work is excellent, you don't have to worry about getting rid of the old toilet. He made sure that before he left everything was clean and in order.
I highly recommend them to anyone that any plumbing issue , they're there at your convenience.
So plumber just left. He was very polite and professional and he was able to snake the drain that was backed up and clean the drain. He was here a little less than an hour and I paid a small fortune. Thinking I can go buy a snake at Lowe's for half of what this cost and DIY next time. Also, while he did complete the task at hand, my shower floor and outside shower was left as if it had not been cleaned in months. He drained everything that backed up, but there was a major dirt and residue left on shower floor. I would expect for the small fortune I paid, the plumber should have at least wiped up the dirt and residue instead of leaving it like I just gave my muddy dog a shower. Not sure I'll use them again but they did do what they came to do, pricey, and didn't really leave me 100% satisfied.

Do not use these people. He couldn't figure out one simple issue with my water heater. He was extremely inexperienced. He looked at it for about 7 minutes only to tell me that he didn't know what was wrong with it and told me to contact the manufacturer. I ended up paying 95.00 for his drive to the house. He essentially did what I did in terms of trying to self ignite the water heater. He didn't do anything else besides that. It was a laughable experience at best, but for the fact that I got ripped off for a 7 minutes of worthless visit.
I'm so impressed with Santa margarita plumbing. Had a hot water heater that broke. From the time I called till the time they got here was about 15 minutes. Grateful they came right away and helped me out. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Felt very comfortable with them. Would definitely recommend!
I just wanted to give a shout out to Santa Margarita Plumbing for helping me with my tankless water heater over New Year's. Of course, my water heater had to go out on New Year's Day when I had all my kids home and two extra guests (8 humans and 5 dogs) and no hot water.
I had a tankless Noritz water heater from 2007 and on New Year's Day, it decided to not work. Thankfully, it worked in the morning when I took my shower, but that afternoon, it stopped working.
I got to work on Yelp, asking for a plumber to come out and take a look at it. I was quoted everything from $120 to $195 just to come look and that would not go towards the repairs.
I called 18 plumbing companies! Thankfully, one of them was Santa Margarita Plumbing. I spoke to Rolando (I think). He said that their diagnostic fee was $65 and that would go towards any repair. He explained that he didn't have technicians available that day (New Year's Day) but the supplier where they get the parts from would not be open anyway, so I'd still have to wait until the next day for the repair. After I resigned to the fact that I would have to go the rest of the day without hot water, I booked Santa Margarita Plumbing to come between 8am and 10am the next day.
The technician, Randy, arrived at 8:15 the next day and got started diagnosing the problem. He found the broken part and contacted Noritz for the replacement part, but because the water heater was so old and discontinued, they didn't carry that part anymore, so it would have to be ordered, which would take two weeks. My other option would be to buy a new water heater. I did end up getting a new water heater because I didn't want to go two weeks without hot water. And even if I did decide to order the parts, it would cost $850 to repair, when the replacement water heater cost $2,250.
So long story short, Santa Margarita Plumbing has the lowest diagnostic fee and tankless water heaters sound like a good idea but they only last 10 years and they are expensive as heck.
Had an issue with a leak between first and second floor. Rolando came within the hour and took care of it before it became a big mess.
We've hired this WONDERFUL company in the past several times and have always been extremely happy with their customer service as well as the work performed in our home. We recently contacted them because we had a slab leak and they were able to come to our home within hours of our call. Not only did they quickly diagnose and fix the problem but they were very helpful in suggesting ways that we could avoid these issues in the future. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company for several reasons: great customer service, quick response time, very knowledgeable and courteous staff, extremely reasonable prices....the list goes on and on. Hire them and you will not be disappointed.
From the office staff to the HVAC tech and Plumber, this place was AMAZING. The woman in the office was SUPER helpful. I wanted to get se work done as a surprise for my parents. I sent them out for a grandparent's day with the kids. The lady on the office coordinated everything and let me know an exact time the techs would be there.
Both techs were kind, knowledgeable, and did fair pricing. They got everything done that o requested, plus more. They explained what they were doing to the home and showed me everything worked. They ran multiple tests to make sure everything was in proper working condition.
I'd recommend them to anyone.
I used to use yelp for just restaurants and food places but lately I have started to use it for services and came across this plumbing company!!
They were FANTASTIC!! From the start I called them about an issue I was having at the house with our crazy toilets we have and the smell that was coming out of it. They were very educated and friendly on the phone and very quick to help me with scheduling a time around my busy schedule to actually meet them at the house!
They were on time and very professional!!! They were so friendly I was honestly surprised! They knew what they were doing and found out from talking with them that they do a lot of commercial and state projects as well not just residential which definitely made me feel more comfortable using their services! They again were very knowledgeable and helped with the plumbing and toilet situation and even gave tips and tricks to hopefully never have this situation again. I will definitely be using them for my future plumbing needs!!
Trust me you won't regret giving them a call I sure didn't quite impressed compared to other plumbing companies I have talked to!

I had a bit of an emergency with some floor tile installation where we thought we might have a slab leak and a stripped washing machine value and could not remove the washer. Santa Margarita stepped up and really helped me out. Rene and Alan were pleasant, informative, and professional, I would highly recommend Santa Margarita for their outstanding service. I have used Santa Margarita for several plumbing jobs and will continue to use them in the future.
Showed up before they said they would be here, diagnosed and fixed problem, cleaned up and left in under an hour. Gentleman doing the work was very professional and communicated clearly the problem, how he would fix it, and what it would cost. In/out clean and done! Perfect.

Second time I have used Santa Margarita Plumbing and Air for a plumbing issue. Randy came out to our home on a Sunday and inspected the problem. He told us our options and gave a estimate of the scope and nature of the repair. The next day he had his technician at the house ready to work. The work (slab leak) was completed timely, professionally, right on the estimated price and as clean as can be! They made a bad situation easy to deal with and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend Santa Margarita Plumbing and Air. Congratulations to Randy and his staff for the professional and trustworthy service they provide.

This rating is for Santa Margarita's response time regarding a HVAC repair: over 100 degrees and labor day weekend and they still got back to me quickly on their next open apt. I was able to get someone to come out but it is great to see quick responses no matter the circumstances. Al G
On time, professional, polite & reasonable priced. Had water backing up in the bathtub. Manual got to work to solve the problem. He found where the clog was- not in the tub but in another bathroom- and worked until the clog was free. He even put stuff back that was under the sink. I will use this company again. Thanks Manual.
I had a severe leak in my water main that was flooding my lawn and driveway. I had originally called another company and received a quote that we simply couldn't afford. When I called, I let the scheduler know that I was looking for a competing quote for replacing my main water line. Rol was able to come out the same day and give me a quote. I let him know I had a few other companies coming by, but he was still quick to provide me a formal quote. Two days later I decided I felt most comfortable with Santa Margarita Plumbing and Air. It wasn't my lowest bid, but I felt that Rol was very candid and honest. He was good at explaining what was in scope and what wasn't, and he did an excellent job setting my expectations.
They were able to put me on the schedule fairly quickly in spite of the fact that I had delayed by waiting for other bids. The day of, the team showed up and quickly trenched my front yard and started using a waterjet to tunnel under the pavers in my front patio. In total they ran about 50 feet of new pipe from my meter to my house and the replaced the shutoff valves for my house and sprinkler system. They were able to remove a minimal amount of pavers in my patio, and did a great job at putting them back in place for not being a paving company. My lawn looked like a WW1 trench as they were digging, but at the end of the day they were able to replace all the dirt and lay the grass back over the trench. Everything looked much better than I expected after they were done, and it looks like my lawn should recover in a few weeks.

I've used Santa Margarita plumbing for years and have always been more than satisfied... Recently I started having problems with the master bathroom toilet, after two visits from Alan with S M Plumbing, he mentioned if it happened again I might consider a new toilet and I agreed. He called his office and gave them all the replacement measurements . So, three weeks later I needed a new toilet. I called the office, they had all the details, sent me pictures of toilets and prices and came and installed it today. This company is so customer oriented they're a pleasure to do business with. I have used Santa Margarita Plumbing, Heating & Air for plumbing issues. They did a great job and were great to work with. I also recently got an estimate for A/C repair. I ended up not going with them. They were very gracious even though I wasn't using them. I will continue to use them in the future.
Outstanding experience with Santa Margarita Plumbing! Randy fixed a pinhole leak in my copper pipe and replaced the hose bib with great professional and courteous service. Their competitive price was lower than the comps I received, he was on time and exceeded expectations. I'll be a return customer!

I started using Santa Maragrita Plumbing after noticing that they are contracted by my home association. But once I hired them for my home, I continued to use their service for the past 3 yrs. I have been very happy with their service, therefore did not need to look elsewhere. My parents' water heater broke down and they were able to service it the same day. They have contracted supplier that directly deliver essential parts when needed. No time wasted. Show up on time. Most importantly RELIABLE. Excellent service. Nothing bothers me more than wasting time on mediocre service. They are my go to plumbing service.

Thanks for offering such great prompt service today, quickly fixing a garbage disposal that clogged completely this morning. Rene (the expert repair guy) was friendly, courteous, and extremely efficient (and actually arrived a little ahead of time!) He explained what he found the issue to be and how he fixed it. He was clean, neat and thorough.

We were selling our condo and had a few repair requests after the inspection. I needed a quick turnaround on fixes to the A/C and water heater. I called the local companies and was most impressed by the customer service at Santa Margarita Plumbing, Heating & Air. Gary was great! I sent him photos from the inspection report and he was able to get me a quote and schedule a technician right away. The tech was knowledgeable, courteous, and did good work. I'd recommend them to anyone in the RSM area.
Our faucet in the bathroom would not stop running, so we had to turn off the main valve in the front. I called and Santa Margarita Plumbing was at my home in 20 minutes.They fixed our faucet in the bathroom in under an hour and fixed the faucet so it could turn off again.Thank you!

Called this morning regarding a pinhole leak we found almost immediately.
Ruben came out at noon and found the problem and stayed afterward to ensure the pipe was properly fixed after water pressure was turned on.
Very prompt and excellent service at a fair price.
Would recommend to anyone.
I was very pleased to see that Sergio, our assigned tech, showed up ahead of our scheduled time slot. He was knowledgeable and communicated what my options were to make the proper repair. After the repair was made another gentleman, Ari, was available to make the necessary drywall repair. Both me exhibited professionalism in their work and I would not hesitate for one second to have either one back for any future work that may be needed. I would highly recommend Santa Margarita Plumbing for you plumbing work.

I had a prior plumber come out and do shotty work on one of my properties. My downstairs partially flooded because of it and left me with floor damage I have to fix at my cost.
They were able to come out and fix the issue relatively quickly and were extremely kind and helpful to me during a very stressful situation.
I rarely take time to write positive reviews but I used this company for many years until they don't cover San Clemente anymore. They are prompt, efficient and most importantly trustworthy which means everything to me.
These guys did a great job replacing our disposal. Quote was quick and work was done the next day and it worked great. Would definitely recommend these guys for your plumbing needs.
