I called for toilet repair due to roots in the pipe. I was very nervous and worried about the cost because of previous plumbers I've dealt with. Rod and his co-worker were here on time, with a friendly professional attitude. They had the problem fixed in less than an hour. I highly recommend Vern's and will be a regular customer.

Fast response & friendly service, but their practices are under par & overpriced. They could've capped our leak to prevent any more flooding, but instead, simply put a bucket under the leak. The bucket overfilled between that evening and the morning in which they planned to send a team to address the issue. Called another local company to get a second opinion.

Loving the convenience of scheduling online. I've been able to schedule the night before and have service the next day! I highly recommend requesting Charles as your technician. He's extremely professional, fast and does quality work. I've requested him the past two times and have been extremely pleased with his work. He unclogged our kitchen sink and installed a new toilet in our bathroom.

Had service done on a shower valve in Selma CA. Jonathan Valdez was the person doing the service and unfortunately didn't go so well. Price was over charged and work was done poorly.  He made an opening on the back side of the wall where the valve was supposed to be (making a wrong measurement and not giving himself enough space to work) he then decided to open a second opening and finally replacing the valve. A job that would easily be charged for around $150-200 was over charged to

$600 with OUT AN INVOICE.

Water spout was left out of wack and no caulking  to seal the new cover plate or spout was used.

Total items used
5 shark bite connectors
1 new shower valve
1 shower cover plate and handle
A small piece of pex conduit.

Drywall was left exposed on the opening where he made a mistake and the opening where he did the work. Tried get in contact with a manager to get a detail invoice on the work done and why did they charge so much? Unfortunately they gave a a run around  until I contacted headquarters.  Do not use roto-rooter!
After seen a few videos on YouTube you can see how these people over price their work.  youtu.be/RUPW9bC73rU

11/18/2020 First time ever needing to use Roto-Rooter.You get a live person on the phone. That was great .  She ( Brandy) told us the plumber would call us within the hour to set a time. It took us three calls back to Brandy and a day later to get a plumber out here. They were suppose to come out at 7:30 P.M. Then at 8:00 A.M. the next morning.  Didn't get a call but a text saying a plumber was on his way at 10:13 A.M. He did a great job ( Jorge) when he got here. They would had gotten 5 stars if they keapt us updated instead of us waiting and waiting and having to call them to get updates.

Find a local business and support them this place is a joke. Wanted almost $800 to check the drain, fix it if needed and put a new facet on for us. Found a guy locally who did it for $150. Do not waste your money here.

Got Enrique C as our technician. Very cool, chill dude. Explained everything that was wrong and gave us tips on how to prevent it from happening again. He recommended some products but didn't try to upsell us on anything, which I appreciate. Overall great experience. Definitely recommend him for future visits.

Do not ever go through roto rooter. They will not come when they tell you they will come first thing. Literally they did not come... at all! Then they will try to charge you twice for a piss poor job (no pun intended) that was not done right the first time around. Worst service I've ever had. Never again!

We came home from vacation on a Sunday to find water dripping from our eaves outside. We called their emergency service. It took quite awhile for them to respond because they had to bring a plumber in from another area. He first took apart our eaves, saying the leak would be too difficult to get to from the attic. Then he said he needed to get it from the attic, but he would not be putting our eaves back together. He found and repaired a leak (after having left for quite awhile to get parts). We were charged $890!  We woke just a few days later to water dripping from our heating vent inside on our wood floors in the same area of the house. The Roto Rooter plumber may have correctly repaired one leaking pipe, but he failed to identify an obviously much bigger problem, and the cost was outrageous. We'll never use them again.

Came within an hour on a Sunday for a sewer backup that flooded our finished basement. Professional plumbers and exceptional dispatcher experience. They fixed our problem for a set price and guarantee no problems for six months or their next visit will be free. Even showed us the live video that was the cause of our problem. Impressed.

Aaron was marvelous! Service was excellent. Our kitchen sink (and line) needed to be jetted. The cost of the service was reasonable considering the cost of labor, time, skill, and equipment. We will call them again should the need arise. Nicely done!

They were scheduled to be here between 10 and 12 noon and by 12 hadnt showed up. Then got a call it would be between 1 and 3. By 3 when he got here, he said his tools were broken and he wouldn't be able to come back to snake the line for 3 more days.  And it would be 250 plus. Ridiculous!!

Consumer's Original Complaint :
I contracted Roto-rooter by phone asking if they do work in the shaver lake area and explained over the phone to the lady who answered the phone what type of work that  needed to get done and asked if this something they can do. Roto-rooter said yes, we need to send someone to take a look to get you an estimate. On Sept 18,2012, I paid  for Roto-rooter to come do an inspection on the home to put together a proposal to perform multiple plumbing repairs on pre existing and previous customers work. Roto-rooter said they would have the proposal later on that day or the next day. They took pictures and someone would call me back. I called roto-rooter on the Sept 19th, looking for information, I was told they where busy on another job but someone will get back to me. By the end of that first day no one had called me back.  The next day, Sept 20th, I called again, this time I was told they were looking at the pictures and someone would call me a back with an estimate. Again no one called me back.  I called on the 21st, demanding an answer, again no call back. Then on the 22nd of Sept after 5pm they called me leaving a voice message saying, they where not going to do the work because to much liability, wishing us good lucky in finding someone to do the work. I called back 10 min after they left the voice mail. Discussed why the job cant be done, the lady answered the phone had no idea about the whole thing she was just instructed to leave me the message, so I asked her since they can't put proposal for an estimate like they promise they should refund my money, the lady said I have to call in the morning, the very next day I got phone call from roto-rooter, a gentlemen just repeated what the lady had told me, and when I asked about the return of my money they said they will not refund my  money.

Plumber arrived 40 minutes late and starts telling my wife that he will need an extra $400 to remove the toilet to snake the line. I talked to him and told him where I the access done when I had it done before. My wife had find our metal detector to locate the lid. He kept telling her that cutting the roots would not really solve the problem, abut that they could do a different method, which cost $1200 and guarantee it for 3 years. He then took the sewer snake and without ANY type of bit on it, ran it and managed to pull about 12 ounces of filament root and a little toilet paper. He told her that the hole he made was only as big as a finger and that we should not use toilet paper! He could only guarantee the job for 10 days. $215 for nothing! I called him back today, and he told me that it was too dangerous to run a root cutting blade where I had a plumber do the same thing 15 years ago! He said that really they could not do the job if there were roots in the line! What a plumber! What a scam!

CROOKS! This is a dishonest business that in my opinion is price gouging their customers. I had a free estimate to install a faucet at my business and I was quoted $2,600!!!! was told parts are expensive. Cmon water hose and pipes are $15 max per unit. The manager probably thought I was stupid and would pay. Little did he know that I've worked on project design for many years and I know what fair price should be. I'm considering going to the BBB as I can imagine how crooked this manager is to other customers and elders! It's a scam and total fraud.

Roto Rooter's plumbing tech Bryan Walls charged us $2970 for an hour's work putting in a vent pipe from the garage to the roof, replacing a worn out vent pipe.  The day before that he charged us $800 to sit in his truck all day making phone calls when another plumber had already put in the tankless hot water heater that needed to be connected to the new vent pipe.  This is criminal felony theft.  Do not use Roto Rooter.  They are thieves and liars and unrepentant sinners in their crimes against customers.  Hope they shut down.

Had a great experience with the company.  I should've called them first and had them come out to snake our wash out.  We wasted more money trying to do it ourself.  It cost more to rent the machine and Home Depot than to call them out to service.

Sage was responsive right away after I called the main number. He came over and accessed the situation, gave his recommendation and then went to get the correct parts for the toilet. He came back within 30 minutes with the parts and fixed our plumbing issue. He cleaned the area as well and was on his way. Sage was beyond a cool guy too, very nice. If we have an issue again, I will definitely ask for Sage. Thank you guys.

I had the misfortune of working with Jonathan from Roto Rooter Coalinga, and am truly offended by the sheer tomfooleries that ensued thereafter. First, I was given a quote of $45 for a commercial drain clog that had occurred in a single room at my motel. I agreed, and asked the scheduler to pencil me in as soon as possible, given that my business would suffer if I didn't deal with it sooner. She agreed, and the plumber arrived promptly.

The final bill he posed? $275. For less than 10 minutes of snaking the drain. When I referred to the original quote of $45, he said that is merely the service charge. So what is the extra $230 for? Apparently for nothing, because despite paying that bill (with no hardcopy invoice, only promises of sending it via email later), about two days later, I have the same issue.

I call them back, asking them to send someone over for free, since they clearly didn't fix the issue the first time around, and was told that I needed to pay the service fee again ($45), on top of another charge for the plumber's services...

The worst service ever. If I was so inclined to have my arms and legs chopped off, I would rather visit the guillotine, than call Roto Rooter.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the technician, Enrique C. He is very professional, respectful and reliable. He helped us find the right garbage disposal for our replacement and explained things thoroughly. And it was raining the day he came and he was so kind to cover his shoes before entering our home which we appreciated and he wore a mask. Due to our positive experience with Roto Rooter, we recommend the company.

Never use these outrage crooks. This company charge $450/hour on labor which is higher than a lawyer's rate, they charge 3 time more than Home Depot on material.

Please see the attached picture that clearly shows the work this greedy plumber Carlos Anguiano did, he only switched these 2 short copper pipes under the water heater, he worked for 30 minutes, used a total 6 feet 3/4 copper pie, 2 couplings and 5 pieces 90 degrees. But he charged me $913.14 for this 30 minute work including $221 for this 6 feet copper pipe and 2 couplings and 5 pieces 90 degrees. His overcharge is outrageous, over 3 times more than the market price. The material in Home Depot total cost $69.88 including tax:
3/4 in. x 10 ft. Copper Type M Hard Temper Straight Pipe: $33.31
5 pieces of ProPress 3/4 in. Press Copper 90° Elbow: $4.48
2 pieces of ProPress 3/4 in. Press Copper Coupling $3.82
Total (33.31+5x4.48+2x3.82)x1.103tax=63.53x1.103=$69.88. But they charged me $221 which is 3 times more than the market price.

He is a licensed servicing plumber driving a large van that can carry a lot of plumbing supplies. For sure his van had these basic materials needed for this small work. But he went away for over 1 hour to get 1 piece of copper pipe, 2 cuplines and 5 pieces 90 degrees, so he was entitled to charge me more hours, and at a $450/hour rate that is higher than a lawyer's rate. On the market no plumber would charge customers at $450/hour. He took full advantage that I didn't know the market price and my honesty and innocence, and I am a 70 year old woman with poor English. Another licensed plumber later quoted me that for this small work, I should maximum pay $280 including materials and tax.

We had Roto-Rooter come out and give us a free estimate for a leaking shower faucet. Johnnie came in, after arriving about 30 minutes from the notice he was on the way. I showed him to the bathroom and he told me the first step would be to replace the cartridge. He then proceeded to tell me I'm not gonna lie, the parts aren't cheap... and then quoted me a price of $585! I thought that was pretty high, and let him know I would not be able to do that today. He immediately asked about what price I was expecting. I let him know we wouldn't be able to do it now, and he began offering to call his manager to see what he could do, since he was already here. Now I have worked in sales before, and I knew this routine. I told him he could go and showed him the door.

I then proceeded to look up the cost of the cartridge at the local hardware store, it was $46 for the name brand and $36 for the off brand. Even after buying a new handle, lubricant and the removal tool, (things a plumber would not have to buy,) the cost would be around $85. So that means if the job took him an hour, he was charging me $250 if you count travel time. I know he would have been able to do it in less than an hour, because I watched some videos, bought the parts myself and did the switch. I have no idea what I am doing and managed to finish it in less than 2 hours, even with my travel to the store...

Do not fall for these guys free estimate gimmick. Find someone who can do the job for a fair price and not try to rob you because they think they can get away with it.

Had my pipes back up on Christmas. This company was the only one who answered however they said due to it being a holiday they would automatically charge $79 to come by. Given i was going to have family over I agreed to this charge. The tech came and said there was nothing he could do today. He said it was going to be $650 to put a snake through but he doesn't have it with him and that he doesn't recommend doing that without sending a camera down first to which he didnt have either device on him. Total waste of my time and $79. I will never be using them again and I dont recommend anyone use them either.

When they came, I asked for a quote before they began and their costs for the two things I needed repaired were outrageous.
I have since called another plumber to service my problems and he is charging us about $400 less than this company and $200 less for the other problem.

This place did not seem honest. After he quoted me for fixing two sinks and a under and a waterline, I screwed in one of the sink stoppers and fix the problem in about 30 seconds and he said wow I guess we should hire you. He said that it would cost close to $1500 to put in a copper line when all that and it was needed was to fix the filter on top. I had a contractor come in and do everything for $250.
Felt like either he was not competent or taking advantage because I'm a female... either way... not cool.

We had a weird clog in our sink.  Had them out, initially, for a slow drain.  Then it was all bad from there.  Aaron showed up with his coworker and ended up being stuck here most of the day because of a bad decision by the last plumbers.  They were friendly, helpful, and did an amazing job!

My main sewer line has backed up 3 times in one year. On October 1 they came and unclogged the line for the second time. They were back on November 2 because it was backed up again. They finally took the time to look deeper and found tree roots in the pipe. They immediately tried talking me into paying for a whole new pipe, over $6500. I asked them to send over the estimates and they left. I started researching and their own website says they can enter the main line and cut the tree roots without having to replace the entire line. This was service was not offered back on November 2. On November 16 I scheduled an appointment to have the roots cut. I specified I was not interested in full replacement at this time. My appointment was between 10 and 2. They showed up at 8pm. The tech informed me he didn't even have the tool that was able to do that. Why did they even send him if he wasn't equipped to do what I asked? He then goes to call his supervisor to see what he can do and comes back to my door to tell me they cannot do anything to help unless I want to pay for the full repair. They are money hungry and refuse to provide the service listed on their own website. Will not be using them again. Called Valley Drain and he cut the roots in less than 15 minutes. No more clogs.

Called because we were having a major plumbing issue that left us without a toilet or shower. First we were told they would here before 5. Didn't happen because of delays but no biggie. They get to our house and have to wait a while for us to get there, which we appreciated, especially since this was a free consultation. However, things go downhill from here. Our plumber tries 2 different solutions and neither work. The second makes the problem worse, but still requires $275. He then tells us we can call someone else to try something else and charges us $60 for his time.Honestly, he had no sense of urgency for us. The next day, we finally get the issue resolved with PR Plumbing (5 stars!!!!) and they inform us that the solution he said we needed wasn't even possible!!! I will say that the guy who came out for them was nice and helpful and they were able to get here the same day, but overall we were disappointed. Not horrible but not good either. Personally, I would not recommend unless it was something minor and not an emergency.

Was notified with a phone call and email before he arrived. Our plumber was Johnny West. He did an amazing job and was helpful and very knowledgeable. Thank you guys for great service from the phone call till the problem was resolved.. we definitely know who to call in the future!

My husband looked up company on Angie's List-they came in afternoon instead of morning. Took pics, stated it would cost $1200 for replacing union/valve/fittings on outside faucet. Aaron Fillmore was gone for 2 hours to get parts. Only took one hour of work. Robert Crumb was supervisor who checked the work. My husband signed for the work on an I pad and was never emailed a receipt. We have not received the emailed receipt yet and it has been 3 days! I had to make many phone calls, filed a complaint on Better Business Bureau website, and had to call Mike Hopkins-manager several times. He made excuses of all the expenses he has (which I don't care!) and tried to offer $300 off which I refused. Then, he called back and offered $600 off. I finally agreed because I didn't want to deal with all this bull. Resources from other plumbers stated it should have been $300 to $480 at most. Roto Rooter was taking advantage of someone who doesn't know regular prices and under a lot of stress due to finding out our Mom in Spain has COVID19. Also, I'm an RN working at Valley Children's Hospital..although not an adult hospital, we are still dealing with a lot of stuff. This was very unprofessional and A deceptive way to conduct business. They should not be in business!! Please remove them from Angie's List to prevent others from being taken.

Had a leak and wanted to get someone to take a look at it. Ok 2 stars because they are responsive. However, they would get a 1 star for how money hungry and helpful they are. They claim they found the leak (huge amounts of water spilling into the next room) and the cause was a pin size hole in the grout (eye roll- he didn't do anything). After he tried to sell me a whole new tiled bathroom for 10k. After I told him I would think about it ... he charged me more for leak detection.... Ok sir, you didn't even verify or run water to determine if your hypothesis was true ... hmmm. I paid it so he can gtf off my property. Actually, after reliving this situation, I'm changing this post to 1 star.

With this I believed they were coming out for a free evaluation to help see what was wrong with my water heater. The technician did that, then stated that I was required to pay $45 for his time. I don't have an issue paying, however springing it on me at the last minute when your message on here clearly stated otherwise is deceiving. As you said it was a free evaluation I went with your company over others that I could've went with who. They just were upfront about their cost from the beginning.

Just a little more transparency would be appreciated.

We called the Clovis/Fresno number for Roto-Rooter plumbers for an overflowing toilet. Eddie was our technician and he came out right on time (I have waited for 2 hours for service people, so that was positive). He said there wasn't anything wrong with our pipes, just that our toilets were 20 years old! He carefully explained what we could do in the meantime to fix the problem, and told me where we could go to replace them. He only charged me the $45 show up fee. I had a very positive experience (for having an overflowing toilet!) and would recommend them to others.

These guys are a riot. I paid them to snake a sewage line. The tech wrote his cell phone down and told me I had a guarantee on the service and to call if it didn't correct the problem. I called the next day, as my drains were backing up again, and he came out and snaked the line again. He assured me the problem was solved. The next day... I called again. Sewage backing up. This guy tells me, I didn't mean you could call EVERY TIME this happened. I wonder if he knows what a guarantee is? I called another plumbing company who corrected the problem. How hard is it to run a snake properly?

Just moved into our home and the kitchen drain for the washer and sink was clogged. Called multiple plumbers, but Roto was the quickest to respond. Charles came out and saved the day. He was friendly, honest, and fast. Recommended some tips on avoiding clogs in the future. Great experience. Price felt a little high at $375 for taking apart a pipe and running a snake in less than an hour. And he did tell he would show up at 10am, but didn't show up until around 10:45am. That's why it's not 5 stars. Other than that, feels good to be able to do laundry and dishes without worrying it's gonna back up.

No communication after 4 hours and 3 phone call to check on the technician status. Don't even try to call them if you want to stay calm! SERIOUS WARNING FOR ANYONE THAT SEES THIS, STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!

Mid July we had a leak on the main water line. Tech came out and said we would have a better value using Lees plumbing, promoting a competitor, but we used Roto Rooter in the past so we called them. Tech said it was a small little rubber piece to be replaced in the main water line and he would go buy it the following Monday and bring it over. This $4 piece cost us $350. A week later, while replacing pipes, our contractor found no piece was even installed! Scammed out of a service. Called the company and spoke to Mike Hopkins about a refund, he said he would take our word for it and issue a refund on July 27th. It is now September 18th and no refund. This company gives a run around and Mike Hopkins or the Branch Manager haven't called me back after over 5 attempts. I even called corporate and they said this is a privately owned franchise and they can't do anything about it. I am still waiting for the Branch manager to call me. This is beyond ridiculous

Avoid, poor scheduling and communication. Recommended by company to make an appointment on the following to avoid a 2-3 hour wait. Appointment was for 6:00 and still waiting at 8:10. Called and was told the tech. should arrive about 8:45. Confirmed appointment in early afternoon. One call back after two status calls l had to place since I was not updated of the delay. Almost completely dark now. Toilet backed up for two days now.

Overview:
Responsive and professional communication and service. Scheduling was easy and they were able to fix the problem relatively quickly at the cost quoted to me.

Details:
My main sewer line had backed up and I was unable to clear it myself using a drain bladder and garden hose.  I suspected roots were clogging the line.  I placed a service request online for next weekday afternoon service using Roto-Rooter's online service request form (no account required).  I immediately received their automated email confirmation.  The next morning they called to confirm the appointment window and informed me of the non-refundable visit cost (which I couldn't find online, and which was applicable to any work done were I to accept their firm on-site cost estimate).  Soon after 1:00 PM, they called again.  They had an immediate schedule opening and asked if I'd like to have them come out earlier than originally scheduled.  I declined as I was not home, but appreciated the courtesy call.  The Roto-Rooter technician (as they are apparently called) arrived as expected within the scheduled time frame.  I described the problem and what I'd done to try to clear the line.  He gave me the cost for running the electric snake to clear the line (which was less expensive than I'd expected, though not cheap).  He was able to clear the line and verify proper toilet and other sewage operation in the house within half an hour.  I was able to pay via credit card.  There were no additional or undisclosed fees (the amount charged to the card was exactly the amount he originally quoted).  I was also informed that Roto-Rooter provides a 90 day guarantee on their work so should the line back up again within that time, they'll come back out and clear it again for free.

Conclusion:
Based on this one experience (I've never used their service until now), I'd highly recommend Roto-Rooter.  They have convenient scheduling options, excellent communication, and seemed very professional through the entire process.  It's cheaper (quite a bit) to rent an electric snake and do it yourself, but without experience (of which I have none), you could injure yourself (the motor on those are pretty powerful a tightly wound steel cable is nothing to laugh at, ha).

Horrible customer service. The worker went to my tenant's home to charge them at 9 at night when I had arranged a phone payment with their dispatchers. No communication within that company whatsoever. They arrived late to the service call because they mistakenly got the city wrong and the dispatch had the nerve to blame it on me, lucky all phone calls are recorded and they owned up to it, which is why they get one star and not zero(I know I can't give zero). Never going through these guys again.

If i could give no stars i would. The plumber was very rude. Made me feel uncomfortable in my own home. I would never ever recommend them. If there plumber is an indication of the whole staff that place s doomed.

I called for service at noon and was told somebody would be here soon. Then I got a call from them at 2pm saying they couldn't get anybody here until 3. I cancelled my afternoons work to wait for them to arrive. Then I got another call saying they couldn't be here until 5. Now I put all my dinner preparations away and skipped an evening walk. Then I got a call saying they couldn't be here until 7. When nobody had arrived by 7:45 I called them and was told somebody would be here soon. Apparently it was the same soon as the 12:00 soon, because I got another call at 9pm from the plumber telling me he would be here in an hour and a half. I cancelled, as I should have done when I got the first phone call, but wasted an entire day like a prisoner in my house for nothing and used a sick day at work.

I will never use Roto Rooter again! The man who came out to clear our pipes of roots tried to tell us we had a major problem with our pipes and that we had to wait for a manager to discuss replacing them for ~$7000. That was code for wait 2 hours for someone to come and try to upsell us something we didn't need. On top of that, they didn't adequately clear the pipes of roots and charged way too much. Also would not guarantee their work. We ended up calling another plumber out who did a much better job for considerably less money and said our pipes were fine.

I got screwed by this bunch.  I put in a call for a toilet replacement, a gas line cut and to replace a faucet.  They gave me a price of around $3900.  I agree.  Next they go in bathroom and pull up my toilet which had no problems but now they tell me there such a big problem that they can't put a toilet in unless they fix this ring for $600.  Now I have a bill of $4500.  they ask me if it's ok for them to leave the lamp and just cut the gas line and I agree like a fool when all along they are charging me for all the time it's suppose to take them to dig out this lamp.  So now the job is finished.  I have water leaking everywhere in my kitchen, I call them back.  They come and move things around and are gone.  Well the next morning I have water everywhere.  I call them and they come out and tell me that it is going to be $250 more dollars.  Really.  So I call the manager and he gets this dealt with at no additional charge.  After the 30 day period, the toilet is rocking.  Remember this is the one that I had to pay this extra six hundred to fix.  So now I had to call a plumber and the first thing he tells me is that this ring is to high and should have been flat.  Roto Rooter needs to be ashamed of themselves.
