In my opinion, this is one of the most dishonest and shady plumbing companies in Sacramento. I had a couple of minor to intermediate plumbing problems that needed to be fixed in my newly purchased home prior to the new laminate that was being installed the next day as I couldn't have water getting into the new flooring and ruining it. Me and a family member were at a local Home Depot trying to figure out what plumbing parts we needed for the jobs when one of their employees in a Mr Rooter Sacramento company uniform walked up to us, overhearing our conversation, and asked us if we needed help finding the correct parts. We said yes and thanked him repeatedly for his help as we were very lost. We explained what we needed done in the home and he spent about 20 minutes taking us around the store showing us what we would need. After collecting said parts, me and my family member were discussing how and who we were going to get to do the plumbing work on such short notice when Jona told me to take down his number, send him pictures of the work, and that he would send us a quote for the tasks we needed done and see if he had time on his schedule that day due to our time requirements. We purchased the parts and products he said we needed, and did exactly that. He later responded, said that he could do the work the same day for $1,000 (he insisted that choosing to go with another company would cost me at least 2-3k, and then later charged me an additional $380 on the job) and would be by with his truck at the agreed time. Jona showed up on time, in a Mr Rooter truck and uniform, was very friendly, and was there for maybe an hour as evidenced by his truck at my property in the attached picture. It was only until he was physically on his way out my door after performing the work in a rush and getting paid, that he informed me he that he told his company he was on an estimate, and never invoiced the work through Mr Rooter, so he was running out of time and had to go to the next job. I was pretty taken aback by this, but he assured me the work was done and that it was taken care of. He never provided me any sort of an invoice or receipt, and promptly left. He was also working in a vacant home where the water was shut off from the previous owners 5-6 hours after he performed the work so it was only until about 5 days later when it was turned back on by the water company after the New Years holiday that I would discover Jonas work not only did not fix the various problems he was hired to repair (one of the sinks he worked on is still leaking) but appeared to also make one issue worse. The morning that the water was turned back on and I was supposed to move in, the very same apparatus that Jona repaired in my laundry room closet busted and flooded scalding hot water into my property for god knows how long until I got there with my movers. It has since been an absolute disaster. I had to open a home insurance claim and call a Restoration company as the damage to my home is over 68 thousand dollars. Since hiring Jona, I have also discovered he did not hold an individual plumbing license and as he wasn't working under his company's license which he did not disclose until after performing the work, it was also illegal for him to charge me any more than $500 for the work he performed. I contacted Mr Rooter Sacramento and was quickly passed to the owner, Jeff, who listened to the whole situation as I was extremely overwhelmed and devastated. I'm a medically retired disabled veteran, and I don't have the ability financially or situationally to repair this damage on my own after just buying the home. He said that he sympathized, but that his company would take no responsibility for any of Jona's actions, even though he was in the scope of their employment when he came up to us, he was in his company uniform and truck at all times when he performed the illegal and unlicensed work, and used company tools to work on my property. He also informed me Jona would be getting terminated and fired that day. Jona has also since stopped responding completely when I informed him of the situation. I have since discovered they hired Jona back a couple weeks later. When asked, Jeff gave me the excuse that Jona had kids to feed and that he can't fire someone with children to provide for, so he re-hired him back. They've allowed Jona Chavez to keep working for them even after he performed illegal and unlicensed work causing major damage to someone's home while representing their company. I've never been so appalled at a company's response to a major incident like this. I wouldn't touch Mr Rooter with a six foot pole.
