This was my go to plumber since they replaced angle stoppers for our building and was $120 each. I asked for 4 to be replaced but they ended up replacing 6 without my approval. I wasn't in the country back then and my tenant was living in the unit so I was like whatever and gave the $720.

Recently my shower broke and I called them since I used them before. They quoted me $550 for a shower cartridge replacement for just labor, I have to buy the parts myself. This is a 15-20 minute labor. Pretty ridiculous fee and everywhere I called were hundreds less than this place.

I only review this because it has pretty good reviews on Yelp. I'm sure the service and quality of work is great. But I suggest people do look for a second opinion before proceeding with their ridiculous prices.

We had a really great experience with Mr. Rooter two days after a massive storm where our drain lines were all backed up. First, we were thrilled that they had availability to come out (everyone was calling their plumber that week). Second, they were professional, explained everything clearly, kept our property clean, and cleared a ton of sand and dirt that made it into our drain lines. Highly recommend!

Rip off place...don't call them and waste your time. The tech will come out and give you a quote without try to fix your equipment. Called another company problem fixed in 15 mins....service manager makes excuses for workers cheating the company.

These guys really saved the day. Had a backup issue and they were able to come out within 2 hours and air jet the cleanout and get things back on track. Plus, their rates were reasonable.

Unfortunately, I have to update this review to a bad one. Not sure if this is run by different staff than when I used them before, which they were excellent. This time, the work they did to replace two faucets were good, but communication and reliability sucked!!! They kept on canceling on me and I had to reschedule. They actually did fixed the issue, but in doing so created another issue (tub is now draining very slowly). I've scheduled with them 3 times, and each time they indicated they were on their way, but then canceled or the last one did not show up. The work was for my apartment and to have to spend this amount of time and constantly rescheduling and having our tenant have to be there each time and get the run around is very unprofessional way to run a business. I highly do not recommend this company any longer.

Ryan and his helper came to unclog my my kitchen sink. They arrived within just one hour of me calling to book the service. The clog was more than 60 feet from the sink. a few things stand out- which is dismissed
I thrice mentioned lead safe practices of which all contractors need to be certified and they definitely did NOT follow federal protocol.. I advised what they were but it was definitely NOT done,
this is a kitchen here with food and dishes! and cabinet under sink is lead based paint,
Clearly none of them are lead certifiied which is EPA required from all contractors at this point,

bait and switched with a few things .. these are legally offenses btw,pppppp
- first told free estimate, then Lucky who was very nice told me there was a service fee of $100.
When he called the office to confirm i was not told,
they let that go

I decided to hire although prices are high, bc yes great they are available immediately

2 nd illegal bait and switch- i was given 3 quotes of which i agreed to two.

when the first contractor called in sick, another was sent-

but his assessment and quote then jumped to $1150 from original
$350 for septic tank parts.

He fixed the kitchen sink pipes but refused to tell me the name of brand when i asked at the apt. we had a discuss about toxic heavy metals so am hoping this is stainless steel but if not, am going to federal trade commission
he also left the filth water behind and expected me to provide bucket and clean up, and i had thrown out my sacro-iliac joint, so can barely move well all week.
It may be aluminum?

I later called for that info , he returned my call and said Pasco
but with the way they are operating my landlord asked for packaging
So am waiting on photos of model number to confirm, and thet are REFUSING TO GIVE THAT INFO.

putty in my sink which was told was safe to wash dishes in.
i then called and asked if its ok to use my sink since putty is drying, he said yes. But not to pull out the excess putty in the sink and around the drain

I replied this needs to be safe for washing food and dishes, he said if you remove any we wont honor the warranty.
It's several days later and still plenty of putty around the drain.
Their original quoted warranty was one year as on estimate but receipt said 6 months
Is this yet another bait and switch that the FTC loves to hear about Illegal busines

I called Mr.Rooter because my garbage disposal wasn't working and bathroom sink was dripping water. I got an appointment with Leki and he gave me a quote for $330 to fix both the garbage disposal and bathroom sink. I thought that price was high but I approved it just to get it done. After Leki left, the bathroom sink was still dripping and garbage disposal that he fixed still flowed back up the sink. I made another appointment with Mr.Rooter and Leki came back. He quoted me another $300 to snake the pipe in order for the garbage disposal to work again. I asked if he could deduct the $85 diagnostic charge and just charge me the extra $300 because nothing was fixed. He claimed that we wanted free work and I thought that was completely untrue and rude. It is not fair to charge customers for something that still doesn't work. They did a shoddy job and for that amount of money, I expect everything to be in working order. We lost out on this one but we won't be recommending or using Mr. Rooter in the future. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

The plumber did inspection and told me the total repair cost is $2200 because the work needs two persons and takes 4-5 hours. He could not fix it at the same day then charged me $285 and left. I found another plumbing company and it took almost 1/3 cost, one person and 45 minutes to fix everything. Be careful when you pick up this company.

Had a bathroom sink that was so clogged the water wouldn't drain at all. I called for an appointment and had a service technician at my house in a couple of hours. Enrique showed up and couldn't have been more of a pro. Everything he told me was clear and simple. He first tried a heavy industrial mega-snake but in our ancient plumbing was too clogged and too tight to allow the mega-snake to make the first tight turn. So he swapped out to a smaller more maneuverable snake. He got the drain clear and told me how bad liquid plumber is for old slugged-up pipes. I'll never use it again. In the long term I'll have to replace my pipes out to the curb. But, he got my problem fixed and offered zero pressure to do more work than I needed at the time.

Pro-Tip - Check their site for coupons. They have good deals that can make a real difference on the final cost.

I highly recommend Enrique Colocho and Mr. Rooter based on my experience.

Jeff comes, works on the clogged dishwasher hose, disassembles the whole thing, tests the water flow, says that what I had done had already fixed the problem, then refuses to charge anything since I did not fix anything.

Professional, on time, knowledgeable, courteous, and... does not charge if there was nothing to fix. Highly recommended.

**PLEASE BE CAREFUL**

My bathroom sink was clogged full of hair and after unsuccessfully using draino and hot water, I called Mr. Rooter for a quick estimate. They sent over a friendly inspector named Alex to check out the bathroom sink and after a quick look provided an estimate of over $300 to clean out my drain and install a new P-Trap. What a scam!!!

After declining, I researched other ways to do it myself and went to my local hardware store and there I saw P-Traps for less than $30 dollars and a Zip-It Drain Cleaner for $5. The Zip-It unclogged my bathroom sink full of hair within minutes and the sink now works perfectly. I should have done more research on fixing it myself before calling these guys. I'm sure they are good at what they do, but they will overcharge for minimal work.

I called them in for a sewer lateral replacement estimate, described the situation. I know they do trenchless lateral work requiring less demo and concrete work and expense. They did a job across the street recently very efficiently and neatly.

They sent a team out ... we talked. I told him the situation best I knew. He said he'd need to run a camera up the pipe (common) to see what was involved, but that cost $250. If we accepted the bid, that would come off the bid. They had not disclosed that to me when I set up the appointment. I declined.

So beware - they may do good or great work - but it's not a free estimate. Another similar company did the camera work as part of their truly free estimate. Weird since their camera technology is a fixed cost they can amortize over many jobs ...

It really depends who you get to come out. My first time I got John who I would give 5 stars to, very professional & personable- got my sewer back on track- he was refreshing.
The 2nd time, unfortunately different guys came out who tried to upsell me unnecessary hydro jet unclogging for a mere $1450 when it was a simple mainline snake, when I declined they called in the service manager who personally made a trip out & warned me that if I only when with snake & their motor head broke I would be responsible.
also, they refused to honor the $95 mainline snake from their website.
So, take Mr. Rooter & their advice with a grain of salt.

Wow, John was AMAZING.

We recently purchased a home, and have worked with a lot of contractors and companies to fix some issues with the house. What we discovered was it was hard to find really great, reliable and trustworthy people to work with.

And in walked John D. He was INCREDIBLE. He was so kind and thoughtful, but most of all, he is great at his job. A true expert. We had a clogged toilet in the master bedroom that a previous plumber was not able to fix. Not only did John find/fix the issue, he walked me through the entire process so I could understand what was happening, and even fixed an outdoor cap for us (he didn't have to, but he did it because that's the thoughtful and high quality service he provides).

Lastly, John was so transparent with pricing and the entire process. I trust him 100% and wish he could help us with everything else in the house! We'll definitely have him back.

Probably overpaid but ... they were the first of literally 13 plumbers to call me back on a Sunday morning after my old water heater exploded.

Stan was awesome and came right away, less than 1 hour after my cell and replaced my water heater right away so the tenants wouldn't have to go a night without hot water.

They took the old one away and the new one has a 6 year warranty. Booyah!

We had a GREAT experience prior with Mr. Rooter about 2 years ago replacing an exploding water tank. Quick and efficient replacement.

10 days ago. Need a quote for hydronic floor heating system that runs off of the water tank. Saturday appointment got rescheduled twice then had it switched to Tuesday because the technician was better qualified. OK. Showed up and told me the free quote would cost because it was a different evaluation. Told him that was not right and we had the magnet that could show that the motor seemed to be running slow. OK then 'no charge' he responds but takes pictures of the pumps and promises that will have quote tomorrow.

2 days pass by. Call the office. Technician is not in today (Friday). Customer service person PROMISES to call me Sunday to follow up with quote. No call, so I follow up and they are not sure what the status is with quote but technician calls me in 1 hour to inform me that he didn't get the quote from the supply warehouse. He will call me tomorrow with quote. No call. Monday night I decide to text him. Says he will get back to me as he is 'driving'. I can believe I AM FOLLOWING UP for the 3rd time!!!!

Tuesday (today). No quote. Obviously they are not the same corporation that came out to replace a water heater the next day with great customer service 2 years ago. They don't need the business. I will get it done with another plumber.

John, the service technician, showed up about an hour and a half after I called the office. We had an overflow on a pipeline between my building and the one next door. John was quickly able to identify where the problem was and then he took care of it.

The experience could not have been better. In addition, the price was extremely reasonable. We were 100% satisfied and would not hesitate to recommend their service. If you are lucky, you will get John D.

Mr. Rooter was a life saver. We have been in the middle of a major renovation when our sewer lines backed up into our backyard. I called Mr. Rooter and they showed up within 30 minutes to assess my situation.

Firstly, the gentleman that showed up was incredibly patient, understanding and helpful with every single question I had. Amazing first impression.

So after some investigation we discovered that instead of just clogged pipes we had a busted clay pipe and a busted J trap at the street. Typical San Francisco issues I guess.

The Mr. Rooter team tried to get workers on site that same day to help at least get us running sewers to use our bathrooms before moving forward. Waiting onsite with us for over an hour was amazing customer service.

We luckily got workers onsite that day and dug up the ground to get us working lines for the day.

Over the next few days the Mr. Rooter team, several different people, went to work installing an entire new sewer line and J trap. Let me tell you digging through Potrero Hill bedrock is not fun, these guys took it in stride.

We got daily visits from managers and even the head of the shop to make sure everything was going well. When I accidentally set off an alarm that things backed up they had a man onsite within minutes!!!

In just a few days we had brand new lines and we're happily on our way.

I can't speak highly enough about the patience, respect for neighbors and worksmanship Mr. Rooter offered. I can't say how they stack up for pricing but I don't care, it was worth it just for the personal experience we got from their staff.

Our hot water heater was 24 years old and had layers of calcium and never held a hot shower for long. We called Mr Rooter who promptly showed up, quickly diagnosed the problem and then came in the next day to replace the heater.

Denver Lim was outstanding. Amazing professionalism and prompt service. He arrived on time, completed ahead of schedule, and took the time to educate me on my new heater.

We recently moved into a new house that unbeknownst to us was unoccupied for 9 months. This has led to some issues - namely with plumbing. Last week sewage started backing up into one of our bathrooms, and we called a few plumbers (one of which was Mr. Rooter) to come take a look. Out of the people we had come by, Mr. Rooter had the most reasonable quote and most inventive solution to our problem. It was resolved within a few hours, and we're so happy that we can use our bathrooms again and fully understand what the plumbing issues are with our house.

We worked with Tohi - he's great and I highly recommend him!

I needed my sewer lateral cleared today and in the past I've gone with Roto-Rooter, who used to charge me $165 per visit in 2008, and rose to $250 in January 2014. I knew today's was going to be routine - big electric snake between my sidewalk clean-out and the city sewer.

Roto-Rooter charges $365 an hour now and would bill this at an hour, minus the $40 web site coupon. I decided I wanted to see if I could do better and started calling ads on Craigslist.

Results:
+ O'Grady - $450 and would expect to use the jetter
+ 24/7 Emergency - Good guy to talk to, but also $459
+ Mr. Rooter - $99 special if I diagnosed it right!

Well Denver from Mr. Rooter came out, was professional and friendly, and did the job quickly for the $99 promised. So big win right there.

Denver also did a lot of upselling - told me I could spend $1400 on the trailer jetter which is a huge hose setup brought by its own truck and promises to clean all the buildup from the side of the pipe. I sprung for that from Roto-Rooter in 2008 for $250, so there seems to be some sort of discrepancy on a variety of jetter services. He also talked about $7000 to replace the entire lateral via drilling it out rather than digging it up. Then he went through the whole house and recommended replacing my 2005 water heater and changing all the shut off valves in the house. I still don't know how to gauge if all of that was good advice, but I am happy with the deal I got today.

I'm a general contractor with high standards and demanding clients. I'm not easily impressed. The team of Stan, Leki, and Jen knock it out of the park every time we call, though. On time, fast response, quotes in advance, polite and skilled service techs -- it all makes me look good in front of our clients. If all our subcontractors had it together like these guys do, my job would be a cake walk. It's unfortunate that NancyChurro C. can't appreciate the fact that, when she wasn't sure about the service their tech was suggesting, the owner of the company personally came to her home to speak with her in an effort to resolve her concerns. Stan (the owner) is like that, though -- he's not happy unless I'm happy. And I'm happy! You will be too.

Mr Rooter came in to fix the stopper in the bathtub earlier today. As usual, they were great, efficient, effective.

Later on at around 7:30 pm, I chose to enjoy a bath (because I can (:) and unfortunately the stopper was stuck in the opposite direction and the tub would not drain. A small problem of no stopper turned into a huge one since the tub is not functional anymore.

Since they promote 24/7 service (see above) and this is an issue they caused, I called at 8 pm to see if they would send someone for a quick fix but apparently they only offer 24/7 service for emergencies they deem worthwhile. For Zak having one shower, 3 people out of which 2 need to go to work by 7:30 am is not an emergency.

Despite the fact that I have always enjoyed dealing with Mr Rooter and always found them very helpful but they are misleading people by promoting 24/7 service and that's not acceptable and not something a reputable company should do.

Update:

Although I stand by my review, I also like to be fair! Mr Rooter did called - multiple times - next day and insisted to make it right for us. They did well and they care about customer service. Thank you Stan and Jeff!

Always a stressful start to the day when you wake to a clogged toilet and you live in a one bath apartment, have a newborn at home, and it's before 8 a.m. I called five plumbers, none of which had same day availability- except for Mr. Rooter! Jennifer took my call, was professional, attentive, and responsive.

The company gave me two hour window two hours from my original call. And....Jennifer called me at least three times to provide me updates on the ETA.

Jacob, the technician, arrived during the scheduled window, also exemplified professionalism, protected my floors before entering, and fixed the clog in a jiffy! Then, he even cleaned the toilet afterwards. Hooray for Mr. Rooter, Jennifer, and Jacob! Thank you for the outstanding service.

Came out in the middle of the night to diagnose the problem after our toilet / shower started backing up, and came back to clear the problem (for no extra cost) later the following morning once the family was awake - since the snake was going to be a bit loud.

Good customer service on the phone, and the guys who came out were professional, patient and polite. Reasonably priced.

Preface: I know nothing about plumbing and I am not handy at all. Plumbing is not something I like to think about, but when a problem arises, I prefer to get it fixed quickly and correctly, and I don't mind paying for quality service and a peace of mind.

I had some glass stuck in my insikerator which prevented it from working. After some googling and DIY to no avail, I decided to get a quote from Mr Rooter via Yelp based on a recommendation from my landlord.

They returned my message within 5 minutes and after a quick phone call to take my payment info, sent over Stanton Li the plumber within the hour.

Stanton was very nice, clean and courteous. When I showed him my insinkerator he immediately knew what the problem was and how to fix it. 2 minutes later, my insikerator was fixed!

The way they answer the phone, scheduling appointments, plus arriving on time seems professional. However once they arrive, they try to scam you for as much as they can.

I just had a broken shower valve that needed a new stem and bonnet + the valve. The guy from Rooters wanted to tear down the entire shower wall to fix just that for $1400. So it's basically, we'll destroy your bathroom just to fix the valve and you repair the rest yourself.

Then I watched a YouTube video and the process was pretty simple. The materials needed only cost $20 to do it yourself but I didn't have the tools so I call someone else. They charged $350 (which was still a lot) and finished in half an hour.

Be VERY CAREFUL of Rooters, definitely not trustworthy.

We had one of those weeks where just everything goes wrong and to top it off, our toilet broke on a Friday night. Mr. Rooter was one of the only places open, and we got an appointment for a few hours out. Stanton came and did a really great job fixing it up, and politely cleaning up after. He also took photos and waited until our landlord arrived to talk to him about the issues with the old plumbing in the building. An emergency call on a Friday night is definitely not cheap, but you gotta do what you gotta do with one toilet!

Note if you live in an apartment, Mr. Rooter requires your landlord's approval for service. Your best bet is to either have the landlord call, or set up a conference call.

Guy just left my property in SF. Shows up uses iPhone light to peek in drain. I explain the clog came out but I just want the line from garage to street snaked out. He says he can do it, then proceeds to hand me an estimate
For $1400.00!?! I said you've got to be kidding me, I've never paid over $200 for a simple drain snake. He reduces it to $900.00 claiming it comes with an extra warranty. In case the come back with a response, this was a simple snake out, nothing more.
I asked him to leave and called advanced plumbing.
I was quoted appx $200 for the snake out.

Mr.Rooter to the rescue!

Late Sunday afternoon we had a major in-wall plumbing fail, shower and toilet water raining down into our living room :-( I had used Mr.Rooter in the past and quickly called them. They were able to come within two hours. (I also like that they call you when they are on their way.)

The plumber they sent, named Denver, was extremely professional and helpful with the situation. Because of the time of day, and being in-wall, we scheduled for the next day and had our handyman take down some drywall in the meantime. The people upstairs went to a hotel.

Denver came the next day and worked on the multiple problems for over six hours! Turns out we had a clog, a broken pipe and an unseated toilet above us. It took many hours of fixing and testing to figure out all of the issues. Denver kept his cool even when dirty water was raining on him. He wouldn't leave until we had made sure everything was fixed and tested.

I can't thank Mr.Rooter and Denver enough for being there for us. It was a very stressful situation and Denver's professionalism and knowledge let us know we were in good hands. Thanks!

Clogged sink? No Problem . I called on Thursday and the customer service agent was FABULOUS ! Very professional , polite and asked all of the right questions. I scheduled the appointment for Saturday between 10 and 12. . I shortly received an email reminder of the appointment.
On Saturday around 9:30 I receive an email that the service technician Jacob was on the way and I received a phone call to let me know as well. At 10 am on the dot Jacob was at my home. My roommate was there to let him in. Before he started the work he called me to let me know what need to be done and the cost .He was done in 30 minutes. I arrived soon after to settle the bill which he walked me through very clearly and and emailed me a copy of the receipt and all documents.
Jacob was very professional , polite and I would call him out again if I need any other services.

Josh of Mr. Rooter is the smartest, most thoughtful plumber I have ever worked with. Should I ever need a plumber again, I hope that it will be Josh!

Josh came to fix an issue in some new construction that the original plumber had not been able to fix. Josh quickly replicated the problem (the original plumber was not able to) and came up with a solution.

Josh explained everything in great detail that he was doing and I learned a ton. He saved us some $$ by suggesting correctly that it would be cheaper to buy a new faucet than attempt to repair the damaged one. He had incredible attention to detail that I have never seen before in putting down new caulking in an area that another contractor said would be hard to make look right. It looks great now. He finished the job on time and was incredibly friendly. You can tell he really cares about his clients and takes a huge amount of pride in the quality of his work.

Thank you, Josh! We hope we don't have to call a plumber again soon, but if we do, it will be you.

Outstanding Service!

Mr Rooter was the 7th plumber I'd contacted about my leaky fill valve. Their bid was competitive and I decided to hire them based on their great reviews.

Stanton went above and beyond my expectation right down to arriving an hour later, wearing cute little shower cap shoes, and carrying his top of the line replacement parts. Unknown to him, I'd geeked out, and bought my own parts, but I didn't tell him. His was the pro version of my model (so reliable that even the manufacturer offers 5 yrs warranty). So you know, Stanton and the kind folks at Mr Rooter oversee your project with the same care and attention that they would focus on their own home.

Yesterday Denver and Reuben installed a new water heater for me. The old one had been leaking and the basement was full of water--not seeing a leak on the old water heater, I had earlier concluded the water in the basement was run-off. Denver came by around noon after my earlier frantic call to the company upon discovering the leak. He was optimistic and quickly inspected the basement and drew up an estimate. Denver inspires confidence so I felt I had a very competent plumber as an ally--an important feeling to have when your basement is under water! Within two hours he was back with the new water heater (and his very able assistant Rueben) and by 5:00 pm the water heater was installed and everything was go.

Our pipes has roots growing in them and it got clogged over years of use. A high powered water jet was advised at the cost of $1615. Just to clean out our pipe with high pressure water . He knew I was in an emergency situation and raised the prices. Meanwhile there was sewage water (legit brown water ) gushing from the shower all day from the storm and roots growing in our pipes, flooding the bathroom.... Literally had no choice but to give up an arm and leg to clean out the pipes with water. I understand that these things cost a good amount of money but I can't wrap my mind around the work he did worth being $1615. $600 would make way more sense just to shove a water hose down our pipes.....super disappointed on the prices and the good luck drowning attitude he gave the moment you expressed that we Simply didn't have that kind of money Lol....

One star for getting the job done I guess and him cracking jokes....? I definitely will look else where for a more reasonable price for a crappy situation like mine. A defeating experience where I ultimately felt like I was dealing with the sewer mafia.

I had a sink that was leaking really badly. I called Mr Rooter and they were available same day so I had them come out. The guy that showed up was friendly enough and gave me a couple quotes. He gave me an estimate for $1100 for what he recommended, and another for $250, which he did not recommend. I asked him what the benefits were of the more expensive project compared to the $250 project and he got super defensive and just insisted that he was giving me a fair price. I told him that I just wanted to understand the two options and understand what the difference was between the projects. He couldn't answer me. I called Alansi's Plumbing the next day and they were incredibly pleasant and fixed the problem for less than $200.

Okay, enough amusement with his name.

The process went smoothly every step of the way, from calling for a quote to completion of work. The dispatcher/scheduler is friendly and accomodating. Stan, who was assigned to give me a complimentary quote, is an honest hardworking dude and gets the job done right. Mr. Rooter's prices are competitive, and Stan was great about keeping me updated about what needs to be done, what materials need to be purchased, and what went wrong with my sink and pipes.

I was experiencing issues with water pressure, a kitchen sink leak, and old pipes in the bathroom. My bathroom sink and its drain pipes were probably older than I am. Thanks to Stan, I was able to upgrade to new pipes and a single-handle steel faucet to replace my messy, outdated two-handler.

Water pressure is great now, not a pathetic trickle.

Kitchen sink has been replaced with upgraded piping and doesn't leak. Sweet relief!

Was available same day to come check out a clogged drain, point for that and that is all. First off, not sure what people are talking about with putting on booties to cover shoes, rep came in with dirty boots. Then immediately took a look at clog and moved into giving me the expensive option rather than the basics of snaking, and didn't do a great job of explaining or discussing options but rather spent more time filling out the iPad for his estimates which ranged from expensive to more expensive. Needless to say didn't go with service, dealt with clog a few more days waiting for availability of another plumber I worked with before and paid a third of the cost and was provided better service and explanation.

I could not get the shower water hot enough from my tankless heater. I went on Google Services and I was able to schedule an appointment at 11pm. At 9:30am of the next day, we had a technician at my house.

The diverter valve was not installed properly and Stan from Mr. Rooter was able to diagnose and solve the problem within 2hrs.

Great customer service. Highly recommended.

Mixed review. I used to be very happy with them, but it has become too unpredictable. The price and service you get depends too much on the guy that happens to be dispatched to you. While I had a very good experience in the past, the last time it just became unsustainable. Initially we had discussed a bigger job. After inspecting, it turned out to be a very small job (just flushing the line basically). The guy then confronted me with 1580$ just to flush and camera the line. I felt coerced into it, because the toilet was already off. 1580$, for 2h of work, that's almost price gauging. It turned out, the line wasn't even clear afterwards, I had to call back in, so another, this time very nice guy came and finished it. What happens is in these cases is that while they coerced 1580$ from me, they now got another mediocre Yelp review, as well as me telling all my neighbors about the pricing and me switching companies. So I hope it was worth it. In the long run this is how you run businesses to the ground. O well!

Don't fall for this SCHEME. They come to your house, check the project that needs to be done for about 5 minutes and then they give you an outrageous over the top high estimate hoping that you will say: no thank you. Then they charge you $65 for the visit. Question: if they do this to 10 potential customers...how much do they put in their pockets with out them getting even dirty per day?

Called Mr. Rooter for a problem with my kitchen sink yesterday, and they were able to get me a technician this afternoon.

Denver came and quickly assessed the problem! He was in and out in an hour, which was absolutely amazing. Considering that he diagnosed, fixed, and walked me through his changes in that hour, I think it's amazing.

I would definitely recommend Mr. Rooter to anyone here who has any issues in their home! Very transparent, knowledgeable, and kind technicians and wonderful customer service reps!

We had a collpsed sewerline, and an old 1/2 inch galvanized pipe water supply. Sewerage was backing up into the basement; and our water pressure was low. Mr. Rooter came out on a Sunday, diagnosed the problems, and provided an estimate. They got the necessary permits. The work took 2 weeks, including pouring new concrete. We now have a new drainage system and great water pressure with a 3/4 copper supply line. The owner, Stan Pomichter came out regularly to monitor progress. All the workmen were hardworking, respectful of persons and property. They cleaned up everything; and removed and hauled away old pipes, dirt, and concrete. If you want a high quality job at a reasonable price done by a San Francisco company and their conscientious workers, this is the company to use.

I hired Mr. Rooter again after having a good experience a couple years back. This time, I unfortunately had a terrible experience with one of the plumbers, Stan. He yelled at me for not answering my phone on a Sunday evening, which was incredibly shocking coming from a professional service industry. I called Mr. Rooter to let them know my experience with their plumber and I luckily spoke with Jim, the manager. He was quick to amend the issue by taking Stan of off my job and fixing the sink himself. He had wonderful customer service and great communication skills. I was very happy to work with Jim and would like to work with him again.

I am blown away by the level of service we got with Mr. Rooter. Our plumbing started backing up for the second time in a couple months (the first time, Selvin Plumbing snaked our pipes and I would NOT recommend them for a number of reasons). Mr. Rooter already performed a HydroScrub of the same drain pipes a little over a year prior so we called based on our warranty. Jeff came out, within a couple hours of requesting service (on a Saturday!), and did a phenomenal job. We figured out the reason the first HydroScrub failed (not exactly Mr. Rooter's fault) and Jeff flushed the pipes at least two times that I saw to make sure the entire section of our drain was clear. He showed us using their camera technology the before and after (see photos), and the difference is amazing. After his first flush, Jeff observed a little more grease I would not have noticed and insisted on flushing the pipe again to make sure the entire span was clean. The icing on the cake is that we made the service call under Mr. Rooter's warranty for their work. We had a complication with the warranty and Mr. Rooter claimed it was void but, in the end, stood by their service and performed the work under warranty pursuant to the contract. It is not everyday you find a company run by someone with this much integrity who finds technicians as skilled, thorough and respectful as Jeff. Thank you, Mr. Rooter, you've got a customer for life!

We got an emergency situation yesterday. We called a lot of places, none would even try to schedule for us. We were lucky that we found Mr.Rooter on yelp. They are very professional and helpful. Technician Denver showed up at the time as promised. He explained the issue clearly; gave me an estimate of the cost and asked for my signature approval in the iPad. He gave a lot of good advices.
After he unclogged the sewage, he helped out to clean up the floor by spraying Lysol.
I will definitely go back to them if we need the help again. Thank you son much Mr.Rooter and Denver for saving us.

Don't use. They never showed up. I waited 5 hours. The gentleman I made the appointment with on the phone was unhelpful and indifferent. And then when I called to see where they were after they were already an hour late, I was told that, yes indeed, they were still coming. 5 hours later I gave up and have never heard from them. What is really frustrating is that I could have used that time to find another plumber if they had just been honest and admitted they were not going to be able to make it. All in all a really bad experience.

Mr. Rooter plumbing.
Great service. I wished I had called at 6 AM when I discovered the flooding in the basement. I waited until 8 AM and called Golden Gate Plumbing. Nobody picked up my call. Because of the situation I decided to try Mr. Rooter, and the receptionist was prompt and was able to send Jeffrey to inspect the situation in less than 2 hours. He checked the basement, evaluated the situation, snaked the outside vent pipe and cleared the clog.
He provided great service and even helped me vacuum the remaining sewer water in the basement. I recommend calling Mr. Rooter and be sure to ask for Jeffrey.

A friend of mine had an issue with the kitchen sewer line .
It was Sunday and the long weekend.Memorial Day.
A lot of plumbing companies did not respond to me but Mr Rooter pick it up and answer the phone
I have explained what's going on and I have been told that the technician going to be with in two hours

He was great, very professional and nice

Five stars all the way for the:
1. Quick response and excellent communication

3. Fixed leak in my kitchen sink

I called four highly rated plumbers beforehand and couldn't get thru to a single one. Left voicemails and never heard back. Mr. Rooter picked up on the first call. Denver, the plumber, came out in only a few hours notice, was very friendly and fixed the problem in a matter of minutes.

Denver quickly realized that the pulldown hose on the faucet was slightly loose, creating a leak under the sink. Since it was an easy fix, he didn't charge us anything for the service. I even tried to give him a tip and he wouldn't take it.

This all occurred on our first night home with our newborn son, so things were already hectic around the house. I was so relieved that Mr. Rooter was able to quickly respond and send out one of the best customer service professionals I had interacted with in a long time to fix the problem.

Mr. Rooter should be renamed Mr. Ripoff.

You couldn't be more unethical then the clown they sent out to assess my clogged sink. A very friendly rip off artist named Alex decided that my clogged drain didn't simply need to be snaked, but that all sorts of pipes need to be replaced, that he needed to see on the other side of the wall of the sink, and most amazingly that Mr. Rooter's snakes would not fit into my drain. Yes, you read that last part right! Mr. Rooter did not have snakes that would fit into a standard sink drain!

Of course, the truth is that they do have snakes that would fit in the drain or they wouldn't be in the plumbing business. Apparently the business model for this place is to try to rip off people instead, and not do simple jobs that might only make 100 bucks.

Avoid this place at all costs, else you will be paying all costs. My only regret is that I didn't give this little jerk a kick in the ass on the way out the front door.

I found them through Thumbtack and loved the experience!

They are very professional, friendly, prompt, clean and licensed. They do background check on all of their technicians is what I heard.

I received a call after I made the appointment online. They call you 10-30 minutes before the technician is expected to arrive. You also get an e-mail about the technician profile. This was very helpful! During the whole process of scheduling, the communication was fantastic.

The technician was very friendly, clean and on-time. He had a uniform and he wore booties before entering my house. He cared to keep the place very clean; he covered my floor before putting anything down on it.

I had a kitchen side sink that was not draining for over a year. He fixed it in less than 30 minutes (includes cleanup too!). I paid $193 for the service. After he left, I had no cleaning to do. He cleaned everything before leaving.

Stan from Mr. Rooter was super helpful and kind yesterday. The water sensor in the pan that the water heater sits on tripped and the hot water stopped working. Stan and Gabor came over on short notice and helped quickly diagnose the problem. Turns out when the sensor tripped, it closed the valve into the tank. All that was required was to dry out the sensor and reset the valve. I was shooting myself because I probably could have figured this out myself.... but Stan ended up NOT charging me for the service call!!!! I could not believe this. This never happens. Super nice. Shows me that he values his relationship to his customers.

If and when I need to replace the water heater, I'll definitely be giving Stan a call.

Tohi Kaihua and Jeff Bryant are the best. We had a backed up mainline and these two went above and beyond. In the past, other companies have come and done their job, only to temporarily fix the problem and require more work within a month. Tohi and Jeff, on the other hand, brought out the big guns. They used the huge, high pressure, high-tech machine to annihilate the problem. Not only were they extremely helpful, but they were two awesome guys- patient, thorough, knowledgable, timely, and just general good dudes. Mr rooter has definitely solidified themselves as my go to plumbers in the city- everyone from the managers to the receptionists to the guys in the field has been a pleasure to work with. Had a hole in the drain from my kitchen sink. Called Mr Rooter at 8am on July 27th. Josh got my info; checked with dispatch; said they would be out between noon and 2pm. At 1:50pm, I called back and asked if they were coming. They had not scheduled the job. Couldn't come by until the next say. I had a party/brunch for 40 the next morning. I got another plumber. He was at my house by 2:30pm. Did a great job.

BEWARE: DOES NOT HONOR WHAT WEBSITE STATES! FALSE ADVERTISEMENT
Straight from the website:
Mr. Rooter® Plumbing knows that a plumbing emergency can strike at any time. That's why we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. More than that, we never charge overtime for these last minute, lengthy repairs. We charge the same price any time, any day.

However, when they called to schedule an appointment to clear my shower drain, there was a $99 extra fee for coming after 7pm and over $100 fee after 1am.

Also, could not give me an estimate over the phone even though I requested a job estimate through website. The scheduler told me all estimates are done at the job site and could not even give me a ballpark.

I need the shower drain fixed but not enough to use a company that is this outwardly false in its advertising.

I used these guys because of the great reviews... Oh how I regret that!

Scheduled an appointment for 6pm. They never showed up and called to reschedule the next day. Again they didn't show up, and called to say they would be an hour late. 2 hours later still no sign! So we call them and they say the plumber is on his way. 2 hours pass by again and nothing. At 10:30pm someone shows up at our door, gives us a quote for $350 and 2 hours of work to unclog a sink... It's a weekday and I'm not about to stay up till 12:30am for a clogged sink so we politely decline. But apparently theres a $55 fee for him coming out so late. I call the main phone line and despite them being a day late and then 4 hours late, they refused to waive the fee. Not sure what kind of service others are receiving here, but this whole experience has ensured I'll avoid this place at all cost in the future.

Had a great experience - called on Sat morning and the helpful woman had someone scheduled for that same afternoon. They called to let us know the guy was on his way.

Denver arrived at our house and was very kind, helpful and honest. He was great!!! Could have tricked us into getting a new garbage disposal but instead fixed out clog and even showed us a few troubleshooting techniques. He was happy and pleasant.

Will definitely use Mr Rooter in the future!!

GREAT experience with Mr. Rooter!

Recently, as I was driving home from work, I got a text from a neighbor saying that water is flowing out of my garage door. When I found out my water heater was leaking, I did a Google search, found Mr. Rooter, called them, and was told that someone would be coming over in 15 minutes. Wow! I didn't think I would be able to get someone to help at the end of the workday, much less that quickly! Tohi, the service technician, came over on time and as promised, diagnosed the problem, explained that my 20 year old water heater needed replaced, showed me where to look on the water heater that evidenced its age, ordered a new water heater, which was fortunately in stock, and waited at my house for the new water heater to arrive. James, the service manager, then came by, and together Tohi and James installed the new water heater. All this within a couple hours or so of coming home from work on that hectic afternoon. I was very thankful to have hot water for my family that very night, and I was very happy with the quick and professional service I got from Tohi and James.

I note that Tohi was so professional and trustworthy that I knew I could leave him at the house to inspect the water heater while I picked up my daughter from day care. I also note that Tohi and James entertained my older daughter by answering her questions and showed her the art of soldering while installing the new water heater.

The back of Tohi's and James' business cards lists Mr. Rooter's Code of Values, which includes: respect, integrity, customer focus, and having fun in the process. Tohi and James exhibited all of these. Thanks Mr. Rooter for saving my day and being so professional and helpful in the process!

We needed to replace our kitchen faucet and tried to do it ourselves, but we couldn't stop a leak that was occurring with the hot water pipe under the sink. Called Mr. Rooter Plumbing of SF because they were the only one I could find open on a Saturday evening and Denver was at our door under an hour to repair the leak. Turns out we needed a special tool that we didn't have to fix the problem.

Denver was very professional and I felt the estimate was fair for the work being performed. The phone agent that I initially spoke to was also very nice and showed a sense of urgency in getting someone out to my place to stop the leak. I will definitely call them again if I need an emergency repair.

What a terrible customer service experience! I called at 9:00 a.m. to request a plumber for a stuck drain and asked for a late afternoon appointment. I was told that someone would be at my home at 4:00 and that I would get a call to let me know specifically when he would be arriving. When I heard nothing by 4:15, I called and was told that there was a 4:00-6:00 window, which absolutely had not been communicated that morning. When I said that was news to me, I was told it was standard procedure and that I was mistaken. I also was told that the plumber would be finishing a prior job shortly and would be on the way soon, and that I would get a call to let me know when he was en route. When I had received no call by 5:30, I called again, only to be told that the dispatcher hadn't been able to reach the plumber but had left a message. I was assured (again) that he would be on his way soon (I also was offered a 10% discount if I would reschedule for the next day . . . hmmm). When I still had heard nothing by 6:00, I called and cancelled. The combination of incompetence, lack of service, and the lack of common courtesy simply to call and let me know of the delay makes me suggest -- strongly -- that this company be avoided.

June 4: I want to add that the company did reach out following my review, and apologized and took responsibility for the problems here, which I appreciate. I'm adding a star from one to two to acknowledge that they took time to respond rather than simply to ignore the negative review.

I'm sure the service is fine when they actually do it, but that assumes that they show up and do what they say they are going to do. First, after scheduling the 8-10 AM window, called me at 8:10 to casually ask if it's cool if they show up at noon. No, not cool. I had to rearrange my morning to be there, and bailing at the last minute is like being the guy who pukes in the Uber. After a reschedule, they did show up, but proceeded to quote 2.5x what the Yelp coupon would seem to indicate. DRAIN CLOG OFFER!!! micro print: only applies to main line sewer clogs with an access point on Tuesday's with a full moon on leap years when pigs fly. I'm a believer is doing what you say your going to do. Not a fan of bait and switch tactics.

Expect to pay roughly 3-4x the average plumbing company would charge and lots of upsells for things you don't need.

I requested help to unclog a drain, it was done, but it wasn't done properly. It had to be unclogged a second time. I also had a hydroflush done and had two plumbers come in afterwards who told me I paid excessively for it and that it wasn't done properly.

They tried to up sell me on a $10k pipe replacement by noting down problems that weren't actually problems. Very disappointed in the service and the lack of email responses from Edwin.

They also referred me to another company, 24/7 emergency services who charged me double what I agreed to. I even had a contract for the amount they charged. They added a second, unsigned page to it with additional charges I wasn't aware of. They sent a collection company after me, since I refused to pay it. I eventually paid it, but seriously, the worst company ever.

Stay away! Find a plumber you trust won't scam you out of your money.

I worked with Paul and Jacob's team to replace water valves in 10 units for my condo building. We spent a good amount of time finalizing the contract via email and a handful of phone calls. Once that was settled, the team sent a legion of plumbers for a day and a half of work over two different weekends. The work was well coordinated, professional, and provided excellent results. It's hard to be ecstatic about a sewer lateral line backup, but we had a great experience with Mr. Rooter. Ryan & Jacob responded promptly & snaked a camera into the sidewalk vent to diagnose a blockage from tree roots (apparently a very common problem).

After we approved their detailed written estimate, they then got a city permit & came back the next day to excavate a trench, remove the clogged section (approximately 7 feet) of 5 pipe, level the grade, replace the pipe & house trap with cast iron, test for leaks & schedule a city inspection for the next day. (Total bill just over $7k).

Throughout the process, Jacob & Ryan were super-courteous, explaining & showing me each step when I popped outside to see how they were progressing. Their clean-up at the end of each day was meticulous, & I fully expect the post-inspection trench backfill & sidewalk repair to be as top-notch as their work so far. Thanks, guys - highly recommended!

At a time when big companies compete to the bottom in screwing the customer, Mr Rooter is a model of professionalism and communication. Our drains were slow. I suspected it was the sewer lines. I called. A woman answered, asked about my problem, then said in a notably polite voice, We are experiencing a high volume of calls; would it be alright if I called you back? Ten minutes later she called back, took down my information, and scheduled an appointment for later that day. As promised, they called me when the plumber was on his way. The plumber himself -- Denver -- immediately put on booties before entering the house (as the company's website promised). He diagnosed the problem, gave me a an estimate, which I signed, then worked on it for 15 minutes, then told me that, as I suspected, it was the sewer. Clearing it took a bit of time because the snake kept going up the vent; but we found the trap in the basement. He worked on it again and fixed it. All the time he took pictures (on his iPad) to document the conditions and the steps. Then he had me sign for it. He didn't do what I half expected him to do: charge me both for the first snake job and the second. I just paid the cost of the clearing the sewer line. And I got a senior discount on top of it!

Writing this three days after the United Airlines debacle with the paying passenger who was dragged off the plane, I couldn't be happier.

something was clearly faulty, so i reached out to my sf native friends and was connected with an honest plumber. mr rooters quote was anywhere between $700 and $1400 when it would all be said and done.
the honest plumber solved my problem for $100 bucks!!!!!!! yup one hundred dollars and these dooshbags were going to try to take me for $1400 potentially. even if your house is floating down the street, do not call mr. rooter ever. this review is 100% legit and i doubt any of the positive ones are real. run!!!!fast!!!!

Mr. Rooter SF is the reliable choice for homeowners and property managers in San Francisco! I used Mr. Rooter twice in July 2018; both times Stan (owner) and his crew were punctual, professional, detailed and honest.

1st Case - leaky water heater on a Friday night! Stan and his crew worked over time in the dark to replace my water heater in an emergency. Additionally, they uncovered safety concerns and shoddy work from a previous plumber. If you want the job done right, if you're working with gas lines, ventilation conduits and lots and lots of water, these guys will do the job right the FIRST TIME.

2nd case - faulty radiator. A building I manage has an old boiler and testy radiator systems. Mr. Rooter has an expert on staff for boiler systems - I believe his name was Jim. Jim was prompt, patient and well informed about the decades old system in our building.

Had a leaky garbage disposal. Stanton and Ryan, from Mr. Rooter, came over to investigate and ended up fixing it for free, despite the disposal being 3 months past warranty! Furthermore, they even tried to replace a leaky faucet (also for free) - unfortunately the spare part they had wasn't compatible with our faucet.

This company understands that customer satisfaction is important, and for that reason, we will continue to use them. Highly recommend the company as well as Stanton and Ryan.

Extremely heavy rains this year thanks to the Pineapple Express. The drain for a light well clogged and filled with 4 of water after a huge downpour. Called Mr Rooter, Tony came out that afternoon to take a look. He's a burly guy and unfortunately wasn't able to shimmy through the narrow window to access that area. Returned the next day with a (slimly built) helper and they quickly snaked out the drain.

Update on the sewer drain and driveway work in May 2016: Have not had a single car ticketed for blocking our driveway in the 7+ months since the work was done! The garage was totally dry after the big deluge (light well drain problems were upstream of that work). Hurrah!

March 2016:
Came home one very rainy night to find our garage flooded and water gurgling up from the drain. Consulted yelp, made some frantic calls to several highly rated firms for drain service. When I reached Mr Rooter, there was good news (yes a technician could come) and bad news (he was busy helping other people, couldn't make it until midnight or later). So we continued to bail out our garage hourly the rest of the evening (thank God we still had the big push squeegee we'd used in the Midwest to clear out snow droppings from our cars). Promptly at midnight, Tony showed up and cleared the drain. An inspection by Gabor the following day revealed a more serious problem caused by invasive tree roots that had moved the underground connection to the sewer line, as well as damaging portions of the sidewalk. The roots had also lifted the driveway ramp a couple of inches, which had fooled many looking for the elusive parking spaces in our neighborhood (in spite of plastering several No Parking signs we had over 60 cars ticketed and towed for blocking our driveway over 5 years!).

May 2016:
I applied for and was granted a permit by the City to have the street trees removed (necessary process, took about 5 weeks). At the end of May the project began. Mr Rooter handled all of the required construction permits and drain repairs, and coordinated contractors needed for tree removal (Treemasters in San Rafael) and concrete work (E F Gomez). They ran a video camera through the line to check for roots, luckily no problems there. We were extremely pleased with how smoothly everything went.

Previously Mr. Rooter was recommended to me by a high-end plumbing supply dealer. Last month when I had the need for a plumber I contacted Mr. Rooter of San Francisco. The phone service and dispatch set up was very professional and courteous. Jeff B arrived within the prescribed time after I received phone updates regarding his ETA. He was very professional, and respectful of our house (even wore cloth booties over his boots to protect the floors.) He diagnosed the problem very quickly and was able to make the repair in a very reasonable amount of time. Our kitchen sink was leaking into the wooden cabinet below. It was a rainy Saturday evening on a holiday weekend. I called 4 plumbers, including one that I had used in the past and one that advertised 24 hour emergency service as well as Mr. Rooter. No response from any of them except for Mr. Rooter. A pleasant and efficient human being answered, Jennie. She assured me her technician could be at our house within 30 minutes. Bingo, Denver soon rang our bell, came in, and fixed the leak within a few minutes. He immediately figured out what it was and tightened a connection. Amazingly he billed us $0.
We plan to use Denver for an upcoming bathroom sink installation and within a few moments he sent us an estimate.
So happy to find this good company and plumber here in SF. Recommend Denver and Jen highly!

5 stars on service by Tohi, 4 stars due to price.

My baby's rubber banana toothbrush accidentally got flushed and stuck inside our toilet. It was troubling as we were worried it would make its way into the pipes and cause expensive issues for our apartment building.

I called Mr Rooter, which is one of a few 24hr plumbing companies. The dispatching process was a bit strange and lengthy, but ultimately someone came 2hrs after I called, which was sooner than what other companies could offer.

Tohi came to do an assessment and we ultimately opted to wait until the morning so the noise wouldn't wake the baby. Tohi came back himself the next morning and was able to get the toothbrush out very quickly. He's a sweet man and grateful for his help.

Only wish the service was cheaper but it's likely comparative with other companies.

Had a leak in bathtub and sink. Guy comes, and immediately tells me, with unshakable confidence, that the problem is our water pressure is too high. He calls back to the office to confirm, and checks our water pressure. It is fine (i.e. not too high).

Then he looks at the faucets and determines that I need a whole new set of hardware. He does not actually take the faucet apart and look to diagnose. When I suggest he do so, he tells me that means he has to turn off the water to the building, drain the system, etc... and that he is sure we just need new faucets.

I suggest maybe it is a part or a washer that needs replacing but am told that parts are so different that the cataloging of the parts and trying to match them would cost more than replacing so I should just replace everything (and find the new hardware myself). It concludes with an estimate of over $1000 just for the labor (hardware I will pay for separately).

I decide to call a different plumber (from a different company) because it was clear to me the original plumber did not know what he was doing.

New plumber comes, turns off the water from within the bathroom itself (the building water did not need to be shut off). He takes a look -- oh you need a new washers that's all -- standard size. He has them with him. Problem solved. A few hundred bucks.

To be fair, I do not think the original plumber was trying to gouge me. I think the technician was new to the profession and simply not well trained. I got the sense that he was simply not comfortable diagnosing and fixing technical problems with an engineering mindset.

He was very nice and professional, but just needs more training, because the right way to solve this problem should have been obvious.

Jeff came out to look at my tub/toilet clog. Very professional. Tried to mechanically snake the piping at the street and in the garage but to no avail. A for effort!

Called next day to get an estimate on doing the work. $600. Skeptical about paying $600 when most places do it for ~$200 and they were going to remove my new toilet, etc.

Called another plumber I used in 2012. He came out and said it would be $80. Skeptical about paying $80 since that seemed really cheap. Kinda like you pay $80 and if it doesn't work, you're out $80. He used a hydraulic method at the street to pressurize the piping going into the house. 10 minutes later clog was gone!!!

Sorry that this seems like a plug for the other plumber, but I have to put out my 2 cents.

Called their office on Saturday morning to schedule a same day appointment for Mr. Rooter to visit us sometime between 5pm to 7pm. Waited ALL afternoon Saturday only to hear that they overbooked the plumber and that they had to reschedule for the next day, Sunday. The plumbing technician, Mr. Stanton Li, showed up right on time as I was waiting for him in front of the house. He was very professional and respectful the whole time there (less than an hour). We had a backed up drain in our narrow service alleyway. He didn't mind getting wet to access the floor drain to clear the pipe, and when he needed to enter the building, he put on shoe covers over his boots so not to track in water. Check-in using Yelp and received the $99 price for Mr. Li's service. Great deal for a job well done. 4 stars for Mr. Rooter's scheduling snafu, but 5 stars for Mr. Li's service!

Absolutely fantastic experience with Denver this morning -- he found the problem quickly, explained it in depth, and gave me various options on how much I wanted to treat the problem (ie: replace all parts, some parts, etc). Super educational and honest -- this is exactly why I will always call Mr. Rooter, they give you options for more work but aren't pushy about it. Sometimes you just can't afford to fix it all at once, and they totally understand that, which I really really appreciate. I'll be requesting him as my service guy when I replace my toilet in a couple months; he is AWESOME.

They were not very helpful.

We had a clogged toilet. I set up an appointment and they failed to show up in a 2 hour window. They offer a $50 discount and we set up another appointment. The second time the plumber looked at the toilet and every other visible pipe and decided that the toilet was clogged. The plumber snaked the toilet a couple of time for about 10 minutes and it sort of worked ok. With the $50 discount the bill was $179. That afternoon toilet was barely flushing. While they do have a 7 day guarantee I decided to fix it myself. I removed the toilet and the waste pipe was clear. I went to Lowes and purchased a toilet auger $30. Within 5 minutes I removed the cap to may electric shaver that had fallen into the toilet.

Why didn't I can them back? Well the plumber indicated the next step if snaking the toilet didn't work was to remove the toilet and snake the waste pipe. The rough estimated for removing the toilet and snaking the drain pipe was $500. It cost me 30 minutes of my time and a new wax seal costing $4 to check the waste pipe.

Not only did he quickly fix the toilet but he also surveyed the rest of my house and gave me his honest opinion on other things I may need done at my home. The dispatcher/answering service was friendly and professional and kept me update on the status of the plumber. The plumber who respond to my issue was friendly and well-inform and informed me of the issue of my kitchen sink. As a single female, it's comforting and reassure to know I was not being taken advantage of in my home to pay extra but the service provided. The plumber was well-educated, informed, step by step of resolving the problem. He was professional and even clean up, after the job. Now, I know why Mr. Rooter is on the top of Yelp! list. I called because both bathrooms on the second floor of my house were backed up, with sewage backed up into a tub. Not something that can wait for an appointment two days away. It needed immediate attention. I called and Tohi and Richard were at my house within an hour. They were terrific. They had to remove one of the toilets to get to the common 4 inch pipe, removed the clog, replaced the toilet, recaulked around the toilet and left the bathroom clean... in under 90 minutes. They were awesome! And the cleared drain is guaranteed for 30 days at what I felt was a reasonable price. With company coming that afternoon, Tohi and Richard were lifesavers.

We had called Mr Rooter plumbing almost a month ago they did a sewage drain cleaning and said we have 30 days guarantee. Well the drain backed up again in almost just around 45 days. I called them up and explained this happened and initially they did not agree to do the work. But later on they called me up and and came to check the drain. I had paid almost $370 to them to come up and do the drain cleaning the first time, I again had to pay another $100 to get the drain checked again. Thanks.

We had Enrique Colocho fix our shower head and he did a great job. The company had some problem ordering our part, and we went back and forth and waited for about 6 weeks. Finally Enrique called and said he can replace the whole thing and because of the long wait, he would do the job for free. They seemed so friendly on the phone. To bad they don't show up or follow through at all. Had an 8am appointment and was told I'd receive a call when they were in route. So when i hadn't heard anything at 8:30am, I called to check in and see what was going on. I was told the dispatcher would find out and call me right back. She never did, so I finally just cancelled the appointment at 9am. No plumber, no word, no call back, nothing. Why do companies feel they can treat customers so poorly? I just don't understand it. I understand being late, but not to let the customer know what's going on or return a call as promised? Just not acceptable. Economy Plumbing (of San Francisco) said they'd send someone out within the hour - not make an appointment that they won't keep. Fingers crossed, but so far they are better than Mr. Rooter.

Stan came by today to repair our piping that was initially diagnosed by our toilet clogging. He explained thoroughly the assessment and what needed to be done. Excellent communication and customer service. Quick response. Once here quickly diagnosed issue and had a plan. Unfortunately the plan was exceedingly expensive, included tons of high-pressure upsell on the number of people needed, and a pipe treatment + extended warranty. Overall about twice what it should have been even at expensive plumber prices. They don't charge overtime, because they are always charging double.

On Sunday April 7 2019 there was a leak in our ceiling and the toilet in the apartment above us was leaking and needed to be re-sealed with the wax seals. It took the plumber 1 hour and we were charged $539. I'm new to SF and I understand the rates are high here but that seems excessive to me. I asked the plumber if the rate was higher because it was Sunday and he said that is the standard 7 days a week.

Ifram from Mr. Rooter. What can I say? Honest. Check. Hardworking. Check. Handled the job when others could not. Check. Check. Check.

Another licensed contractor told us our drain could not be snaked and that it was filled completely with tar (ostensibly from roofing work). Even worse, that we would have to rip out the pipes and replace them - $$$'s of dollars worth of work.

Ifram arrived within one hour - incredibly professional, thoughtful and tidy. He quickly assessed the situation, gave me an estimate and then was so certain of his outcome said he would only charge me $99 if he was unable to fully resolve (as we called after hours). Less than twenty minutes later he found the culprit, a giant hairball in the line. Oddly, no roof tar was located (wondering if the contractor was stretching the truth a bit?).

Needless to say, Ifram saved the day and will be handling ALL of our building plumbing needs going forward.

Honest and awesome. Mr Rooter rules - hire a licensed professional plumber. Money well spent.

Professional, thoughtful, technically advanced, kind and great results to prove it! Great staff and a well run company.

When our main line clogged for the second time in 3 1/2 months we knew something was up. Mr. Rooter's excellent staff came out, got the line working, then scoped the line with digital camera and tracking to find the root cause - which, in this case, wasn't a root but a small section of pipe that had rusted, creating a barrier that would have kept blocking.

The job entailed cutting concrete in the garage and replacing pipe.

The entire time I felt the staff wanted to do their very best and made thoughtful decisions. The price was at or below expectations.

I called Mr. Rooter for a clog in our office kitchen sink. They arrived promptly, were courteous and showed me how their pricing worked. The clog turned out to be quite serious due to the age of the building's plumbing and its many twists and turns. They did find the clog, got rid of it, sent me numerous pictures of where the clog was, what it looked like (YUCH!)

In this day and age, it is absolutely wonderful to get this kind of prompt, courteous and efficient service. I would NEVER call anyone else.

Their model is that they won't give you any quote on the phone, but the assessment and quote is free. I was worried it would be a high pressure sales situation but had a quote from another local plumber who was also scheduled to come by later.

Indeed, Mr. Rooter's price was higher (although only by about $25). I explained I had a better quote and the technician was polite and said thanks, that he understands, and no hard feelings.

So I didn't use them in the end but 4 stars for actually beating my expectations about hard sale and guilt for coming out and not getting the job in the end.

I had to change a water heater,so I called Mr.Rooter, the receptionist made an appointment at 9:00 Am the next day,to have some one to check out and give us free estimate,but we waited until a little bit before 10 AM,someone show up after 10 AM ,but we had to leave,so we had to reschedule the appointment,this time he came on time and I got a oral estimate of $4269 dollars to replace my 30 gallon water heater,that is too much higher than I can afford.I got two calls from their customer service,offer to give me $300 discounts and two other estimates,the lowest estimate was $1650,to me it was still too high,luckily I fund someone else to do the job,I only paid $850.

Some very nice guys that came to fix my toilet. But I just didn't feel like they were very good at finishing and having their stuff ready.

Devon and Jim came with in an hour to fix my toilet issue. The toilet had water in it so they had to take buckets of water out of the toilet. That meant there was a large amount of water when they removed my toilet. That water was now on my floor and in my carpet! They asked for towels and a mop. I provided both. (Shouldn't they have a wet dry vacuum? Shouldn't they have more gadgets so gross toilet water isn't all over my floor and carpet?)

The very nice gentlemen fixed the issue with in 1.5 hours. However, they left water all over bathroom floor and my carpet still wet with toilet water. We paid them $500+ and they left.

Next day we found out the toilet and water valve were not secured properly. So after we used the restroom there was water leaking out of the toilet! *Sigh* We just fixed it ourselves.
All in all I probably wouldn't call them again. They were really nice guys but lacking the finishing touches. If I were a plumber I would fix the issue and make sure the area looked better than I found it. Not what I expected from professionals but then maybe I had higher expectations...

So I called M. Rooter plumbing: mrrooter.com Made a
Saturday AM appt. last tuesday. the plumber showed up on time
diagnosed my noisy toilet and concured with my thinking that the
developer used cheap toilets 'American Standard' in the furnishings.
Besides that it was not fully bolted in.

He said the 'flapper' was at issue and would be relatively expensive
to fix for him. All costs were estimated clearly before any work was
performed.

He then recommended to buy & for him to remove the old and install a
new toilet at one single cost over $500 but not $700. I know that is
not cheap but I was not in the mood to price compare at other
plumbers, drive to Home Depot, call around, wait a week and then
save what at the most $200.00 on a toilet. I was not buying a car...

SO I told him to go ahead and replace the toilet for a better model:
Kohler. He first arrived at my house at 9am. He left came back with
new toilet, removed the old one, and installed the new one and he
was finished by 12:45pm.

I have a 3 year warranty on the new toilet that they can come back
and fix for free.

This was not inexpensive, but it was not outrageous. The service was
excellent too.

So thats my story and I am satisfied with their service. Again I
would have shopped to Magic Plumbing, Cabrillo, O'Grady etc. but
this was too efficient to deal for me last weekend.

They did answer my call and come very quickly (about and hour). But, despite their teaser add of $99 on yelp for drain clogs, they wanted $450. They did reduce this to $425 and I agreed, as they were already there and it was an emergency. 29 minutes later, I received a call and all was fixed. Service guy felt so guilty for obviously overcharging, he lowered the price to $400.

Called these people 4 days ago for an appt. confirmed the morning of..they had no record of appt. They managed to fit me in since I had planned my day around a toilet issue snake. They phone me right at the beginning of my two hour window that plumber finishing up and on his way. Waited for two hours..no show no call..Called the main number and said he was still at prior job and maybe another hour...Not very professional and would not recommend based on this experience alone.

Had low water levels in the downstairs' toilets, so we scheduled an appointment.

The night before the appointment, the drains in the garage started backing up all the waste! So we were forced to shut water to the house to stop the back flow. The next day, the assigned plumber showed up on time and got to work. Within an hour he identified that the line going to the city's main had collapsed, and even showed me on the camera.

Then, they provided a quote on how much it would be to repair the whole thing. They got to work that day, ripping up three slabs of concrete, digging down, replacing the pipe, and filling it up. The quote also included putting new concrete down.

All the work was completed within 2 days, and they made sure to do enough so that we could water again on the 1st day!

Very nice, very professional. Everything was discussed and shown ahead of time.

I received great service from Stanton Stan Li. It was Sunday and I had plunged, snaked, and chemical bombed the kitchen drain to no avail. Stan called me back within about 5 minutes of my calling dispatch and said he could be over to the house in 45 minutes. He showed up in 30. Pricing was explained upfront and when a couple of unforeseen things popped up along the way he was not just apologetic but took the time to explain and even showed me how I could do one thing myself so I could decide if I'd like to have him do it (I had him do it). I'm really glad I called- instead of having someone come out who knows when during the week call mr rooter and in a few hours your drain nightmare will be a thing of the past.

OMG! By far the most honest plumber we have ever hired. Our sewer backs up every couple of years. We had hired another plumber a couple of weeks ago to fix the problem. He snaked the drain but said we probably had a broken pipe so he couldn't guarantee the work. Sure enough a week later the problem reoccurred. We called Mr. Rooter and said we need a hydro jetting to clear the problem. June showed up and said he would send a camera down for free instead of wasting money on a procedure we might not need. Sure enough the problem was in the the house trap and the city would probably clear it for free. They came within an hour and did!!! June saved us $1500. I can't recommend Mr. Rooter enough and they will have all of our plumbing jobs from now on!

I used Mr Rooter to fix a sticking toilet handle. I found Mr Rooter on Thumbtack. I loved how quick Mr Rooter's response is; they were able to get someone here on the same day within 2 hours. So flexible and responsive. Our plumber, Jeff were super friendly, professional, and quick. He quickly identified the problem - the toilet needed a part replaced, but since the model of the toilet was old, he didn't have the part on him. No problem, he was able to go get the part and come back within 30 mins to fix it. Loved the level of customer service. Will definitely call for Jeff again if we have another plumbing problem!

I called them to come out and unclog a kitchen sink. An individual came, ran some water in the kitchen sink and sure enough it was backed up. I asked for their $99 offer (that is presented prominently on yelp), and he said this job would not qualify as it was more complicated because I had stairs and he needed someone to carry equipment and it was therefore a 2 person job. I then showed him my elevator to bring up his equipment (no one needed to carry anything) and he still said this was more complicated than the $99 offer job (the $99 offer clearly does not cover what might be he most common issue, a kitchen sink clog). Was it 20% or 50% more expensive? Sure I probably would have paid that and been annoyed. Instead he presented two solutions, one for $577 (hydra wash) and one for $347 (snake). All that just for the most basic of clogs, your common kitchen sink. I sent him home and he asked if he had done anything wrong. I told him it was disingenuous to offer $99 drain clog cleaning and show up and offer 3.5 and 5.7 times that number as the cost.

Resist the urge to feel pregnant on a vendor when they send someone to your house and send them packing when they try to pull this garbage. I have since called someone else who guaranteed $120 over the phone.

We had a big plumbing job done by the last owner of mr rooter, and when the sewage pipe in the garage started leaking I called the new owner of the franchise. They came right away and Even though the new owner, Rich, felt that this was a new problem and not covered by guarantee, they fixed it for free anyway(I ended up paying them after it was done because it seemed like the right thing to do)
I was happy with the work and would call them again!

We've had some days with heavy rainfall this winter, and water backed up into the washing machine from the sewer pipe -- gross. Enrique came out, and using the camera, determined that the 40+year old pipe under the house had a belly in it. The only real fix was to replace the pipe, which would be no small job since the pipe was beneath the concrete garage floor. We were given a detailed estimate and scheduled the job. Over the course of 5 days, the team of Ruben and Clemente arrived on time and did all the hard work (cutting through the existing concrete floor, replacing the old pipe with a larger one with better fittings for all the connections, working neatly on every step). The city inspector commented on how well the job was done, and the work passed inspection immediately. It's not cheap to have this kind of work done, but you really don't want someone to do a shoddy job either. We highly recommend Mr. Rooter, especially Enrique, Ruben and Clemente.

Looking for a righteous plumber in San Francisco?
Long story short...
After a dispatch snafu which had me waiting over 2 hours for a service call and Mr. Rooter serviceman Stan mistakenly looking for my Marin County address in San Francisco, the problem was solved by Mr. Rooter main-men Chris and Stan #1, who dispatched Stan #2 all the way out to Fairfax (a round-trip of probably 25 miles) and did the job gratis!
Stan #2 was pleasant and efficient and even cleaned-up after himself to get me back in business ASAP.
Now you can't ask for better service than that, right?

The hot water pressure had been super low.

I first called Atlas plumber (since they have so many 5 star reviews on Yelp) - but they claimed they couldn't fix my problem because my water heater is combo gas & electric, which they aren't used to. So I called Mr. Rooter.

Mark, the plumber from Mr. Rooter, was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He suspected that I might need a pump replacement, which would have been very expensive. He actually called in one of his colleagues to come give a second opinion, so that I wouldn't have to pay for a costly pump replacement if I didn't have to. They concluded that I needed a less expensive valve replacement instead.

Quoted me a price, thoroughly explained everything, and got to work. Mark was probably here for about 3-4 hours total (including waiting for the 2nd opinion guy to come, a trip to the plumbing supply store, cutting the pipe and welding on a new valve, cleaning up), and I ended up paying 375.

Mr. Rooter had a fella come on Sunday, at no extra charge, and evaluate whether my water pressure could be improved. Although it couldn't without mucho dinero, the fella spent time explaining my water heater to me, how the pipes work, where the emergency shut-off is, and so forth.

He gave me an estimate on all of the work he recommended. He also put cloth booties over his shoes, so as not to track in any dirt. He was very professional and friendly. I was totally impressed and next time I will ask for the same guy. You can stuff money in my underwear and in return maybe I'll tell you his name. :p

So our drain at my accounting office was clogged and on a Sunday, you can imagine how hard it is to find a plumber, ESPECIALLY after hours. I called these guys up after an intensive search and they were really prompt with a reply. Two hours later, they send out their tech to our office (right in the time window they specified) and he went to work.

The issue was pretty major and he only charged us $180 AND gave us 25% off our next service call, should we need one...AND his repair was covered by a 120-day warranty. I rarely do calls of this nature, but I've heard that getting someone to do labor for you can be quite expensive and nerve-racking, so with this being so the complete opposite, I am VERY impressed with the service I recieved tonight.

I never thought I would be so pleased with a plumber that I'd actually want to take the time to write a review about the experience. But our experience with Mr. Rooter Plumbing was that good.

Late on a beautiful Sunday morning a few weeks ago, we discovered a lot of raw sewage backing up into a storage room in the basement of our three-flat building. We first called a plumber recommended by a neighbor, who said he'd be there in two or three hours. After two hours, I called him just to check on his ETA and was told he'd call back in 30 minutes. 45 minutes later, I called him again and was told he would be a few more hours. Our Sunday was quickly disappearing, so I called another plumber who said they could be there in 3 or 4 hours. Thanks, but no thanks.

Then I called Mr. Rooter, who said they could have someone there in 20 minutes and I said OK! (after which I immediately canceled the first plumber) but actually thought, yeah, right, that'll happen. Well, it didn't. Rodrigo arrived in less than 15 minutes (!!) AND he was pleasant, articulate, professional -- and had (an appropriate) sense of humor, which I always appreciate.

The configuration of pipes in our basement is somewhat unusual, to say the least, so he presented a few different options and quoted prices for each option (all of which were FAR lower than I had thought they would be, especially given that it was a Sunday). The options included just fixing the immediate problem, fixing the immediate problem plus doing something that would make clearing any future blockages cheaper and easier, and a longer term solution which would address that actual root cause of the problem but which would be very expensive (and something we'd previously known we would need to address at some point).

We appreciated that Rodrigo had presented options, that he clearly and concisely explained those options (noting pros and cons of each) and thoroughly answered all our questions. We then chose option number two and Rodrigo immediately went to work --and performed the work quickly, efficiently and neatly (meaning, cleaned up after himself). Given that this had all started with raw sewage flooding our storage room (and ruining a fair amount of stuff in it) I can honestly say I was actually put in a really good mood because of the truly excellent, pleasant and satisfying experience we had with Rodrigo and Mr. Rooter. We will definitely and without question always contact Mr. Rooter about any future plumbing issues.

Epic failure. Epic. Called with an emergency, sewage flooding garage on NYE. I was assured a technician would would be out between 8 and 10pm. Great! Until I got the call at 8:30pm that the only person on duty went home sick. No other option. Just not available. Hard to believe that someone too ill to work at 8:30pm was feeling fine at 6:30 when I called. Julia, the woman on the phone was apologetic and that's the only reason for the one star. Not her fault, but a miserable failure on the part of Mr Rooter.

Denver was extremely courteous and knowledgeable, and had the new heater installed very quickly while also replacing some faulty work from a previous installer. I live in an apartment building with multiple water heaters. The one that supplied hot water to my unit was leaking profusely and needed emergency shut off and replacement. Denver did a great job at replacing my water heater and even went the extra mile and strapped my gas line and made sure to educate the importance of having the area surrounding the water heater clear of any debris as that poses potential fire hazard. It wasn't his job to do anything but replace my water heater but because he saw that things were not completely up to code and potentially hazardous, he went ahead and fixed them. Denver even made himself available for any questions I had for him after installation. He performed work quickly, efficiently and has a very friendly demeanor.

I called Mr. Rooter Plumbing after another plumber was unable to unclog my drain. A technician named Denver, came out promptly and was able to fix the problem within half an hour. He was courteous, professional and above all HONEST. When I told him that the first plumber advised me that the only way to unclog the sewer drain was by undergoing a huge job, costing thousands of dollars, to excavate and replace a pipe, he immediately suggested we try the lower cost options of snaking the drain or hydro-flushing the drain first. He also stated that if the drain could not be unclogged I would not be charged. I opted for the lowest cost option of snaking the drain, and Voila! the problem was solved. I cannot say enough about Denver, who also shared how much he enjoyed working for the company. Thank you Mr. Rooter and Denver!

They did not show up for the originally scheduled time of 9-11am because scheduler made an error and booked it for the prior day. The scheduler was a very nice lady and was honest about her mistake and apologetic, so I was willing to let it go. However, the plumber, who I believe was named Stan, when he came over, quoted me $277 + extra for parts to unclog a kitchen sink, which he estimated would take an hour. I have called other plumbers and have not heard anything close to $277/hr rates before. This would explain why they declined to give me their hourly rate when I scheduled the appointment, which would have save me a lot of time.

Jim came by to provide the annual complementary flush on the water heater. The window was 2-4pm and he came at 2:05pm. It was painless. I mentioned a clog with my garden sink and he took a peak. This is my second time calling Mr. Rooter, for two different occasions. First time was at my house - with guests coming over my kitchen sink backed up. Tohi - an awesome gentle giant of a guy - came over and quickly took care of it, being very forthright and honest about what repairs I will need immediately but also what I may want to consider later down the line - totally nice about what I didn't need to do immediately. Then I mentioned that I bought a faucet for the bathroom I had not installed. Tohi went above and beyond - not only installing but also making a Home Depot trio just for me because the fancy schmancy European faucet needed a special adaptor to install. Excellent service throughout! Then today, with a potential leak in my rental condo unit, I called up Mr. Rooter (tbh by chance, not having the chance to remember the last service). Who showed up? Tohi to the rescue!!! I honestly almost hugged him. He is the best, a straight dealer, will give you practical advice, will not try to push a service you don't need. Scheduled an appointment to have a sink faucet and broken shut-off valves replaced. They scheduled me for a 2 hour window two days out. Steve and his team came out to fix a slow drainage issue. Over the last two years had another Company come who used a Jetter (high pressure water) to clear the issue. The problem seemed more sever this year so wanted some new technology to determine the issue. With their Camera and sonar device they were able to trace the line to the street. The camera showed exactly what was the issue and where. They dug up the area and fixed the problem despite finding complications (which they did not try to charge for.)

We received great service provided by Denver. We had a clog in the main drain pipe. Denver showed up on time, professionally assessed the situation and presented us with the service options. While working on unclogging the pipe that runs between the sidewalk and the city line, he encountered quite a significant amount of roots inside. When we asked to run the snake a few more times to better clean the roots, Denver happily provided us with the curtesy demonstrating excellent customer service. Before, during and after the service Denver documented his work by taking pictures. Upon finishing the electronic documentation he mentioned the availability of a senior discount that was applied to our bill. I hope we will not need rooter service anytime soon, but if we do we will ask for Denver.

1 star because the plumber that came out was knowledgeable and fixed our problem - thank you to him - now for the company...

I can't give anymore stars (and would like to take them all away) because he had to replace the trap - because of corrosion he couldn't get the pipes back together so he had to use a new trap (which costs less than $10 at Lowes or Home Depot). Granted, this was not the actual plumbers fault - but the Mr. Rooter company charges $210 for a part that costs less than $10!!! I could not believe it. The plumber even said it was ridiculous when I asked him to clairfy the charge. If you use them be sure to buy your own parts before they come out or you will pay more for parts than for them to snake out a pipe.

Buying an old house has a lot of downfall. The obvious being that plumbing was old and deteriorating. Stan had our pipes in both bathroom and kitchen in good condition and changed the garbage disposal. This job was very, very difficult. Long story short, I had a drainage issue with my tub, Bob came out and fixed it within minutes.

I give a five star rating on Bob's service and professionalism... Not based on how fast he fixed the problem. Bob was on time (a Saturday AM appointment made at the last minute), he was friendly, and got the job done. He even took the time and gave me some helpful advice for a project I'm taking on myself, which involves adding a sink to my garage.

Calling the plumber is a little like going to the dentist - you know you gotta do it, and you know it's not going to be fun...

These guys are good, but pricey.

Have used them 3 times:
1 - root a clogged tub
2 - evaluate an outside leak
3 - replace a faucet

pros:
- fast response
- professional and courteous
- flat fee pricing
- thorough explanations

cons:
- ain't cheap

They're probably about the same as places like cabrillo and bell (both good, too, but pricey).
Basically if it's worth it to you to have it done right and right away, and you're willing to spend maybe 15% extra then this is the call to make.

Stan from Mr. Rooter really saved us. We were dealing with a clogged toilet of a few days, and after having made 3 trips to Ace Hardware for auger, snake, and enzymes, we needed some help. Stan came and checked out the problem, attempting numerous times to free the clog. After some persistence, and a moment where we thought we might need to take a toilet full of soiled water off the floor, he tried once more. This did it and everything flowed fine. Saved us a huge mess, time, and money. Will be calling back immediately whenever we need a plumber in the future!

I don't normally write reviews on this site, one way or the other. But my experience with Mr. Rooter SF, and in particular their guy named Denver was so exceptional I'm compelled to do so. I had an issue with my disposal unit and tried to fix it on my own to no avail. I called Mr. Rooter and they send over Denver. I explained the issue and my efforts to fix and he straight up tells me, Listen, if I'm right, I think this will be a pretty straightforward issue, but I need to tell you up front that we charge a minimum service fee, and so I don't want you to feel blindsided when I give you the invoice. I tell him I understand and tell him to proceed, and after about 10-15 minutes he fixes the unit (which, as he predicted, was pretty straightforward, but still beyond my know-how). As I'm getting out my checkbook to pay him, Denver straight up says, don't worry about it and says this one's on us -- i.e., Mr. Rooter. He explained that they don't want to charge us a bunch of a money for something that from their point of view was easy but from a lay person's point view might not be; and simply asked that we consider them when we have a major issue. Needless to say, with this kind of customer service, they are the first folks the next time i have a plumbing related issue.

Bottom line: Mr. Rooter-SF and especially Denver at Mr.Rooter-SF are awesome. Highly recommended.

At 3am my shower handle decided to break and water gushed out from the empty handle slot. I tried shutting off the easy access valve to the house, but that was broken too! I didn't know what to do next so I tried calling around. Some plumbers didn't pick up the phone, others wouldn't tell me without booking an appointment, and the earliest appointment I could get was 8am!! We had a sewer clog. The plumber, named Ben, was either lazy or didn't know what to do. He just poked a hole thru the clog, but didn't even snake to go a few more rounds to clean a bit. He was focused on up-selling additional service to sell a sewer liner to permanently solve the tree root problem.

Our sewer clogged up again in 3 days. The same guy, Ben, was sent out again and he just poked a hole and wanted to leave. (Even the house keeping service lady said this plumber was lazy.) We had to call the office to complain and they sent a superviser, Jose, to work on cleaning the clog.

I am hoping this time it will last more than a few days.

I am giving them 1 star because they were at least coming again to work on it.

Given the workmanship and attitude, I don't think we will give them additional business. (In stead of apologizing for didn't really clean the clog a couple days ago, they kept blaming us for not following their suggestion to let them put in a sewer liner for $6500.)

As a Yelp fan, checked reviews for a plumber. Read about Mr Rooter for the Outer Sunset and gave them a call for a same day Saturday appointment. The lady who answered was very helpful and said she could have a man out in 1 hour. Within the hour Mr Saul Padilla showed up in his bright white truck. He greeted me with a big smile and right away asked what type of drain problem I had. He snaked the kitchen drain twice because the first 30 feet of snake didn't unclogged whatever was clogged up. He was determined to get it unclogged the second time because he told me if that didn't work that the other method was a water blast which would cost me more bucks! Well Saul got it right the second time, cause when we ran water down the pipe it didn't back up! Thank you Saul and Mr Rooter for excellent service!

Bob Blanchard, aka Mr. Rooter, has done two major plumbing repairs at my parent's home. Tree roots in the main line and a broken drain pipe under the garage floor required extensive excavation and replacement. This was the best repair experience I have had in longer than I can remember! Professional, prompt, honest, thorough and reasonable. I called Mr. Rooter at 7:00 pm when my hot water heater started spurting out water and flooding my garage. Even though it was the evening, they answered immediately, were super nice and sent someone within an hour. Sergio, the plumber they sent, understood the problem right away, stated a price which he honored, fixed things quickly and was a dream to work with. I can't recommend Sergio or Mr. Rooter more highly. No one likes to need a plumber, but they took the sting out of what could have been a much more stressful experience.

overpriced service that left me with standing in sewage with my toddler.

technician very nice guy who took out toilet. didn't tell me that the ? phalange was missing. He rooted the toilet told me that it would be fine. 3 calls in 72 hours later I was standing in sewage my house having been flood out. the phalange is the piece that secures the toilet. the previous plumber had used a ton of plumber putty to stop the toilet from leaking these guys just bolted it to the floor so it leaked like crazy. each time I complained they stated there was nothing they could do. They recommended a 20,000 replacement and walked away literally. hazelwood plumbing(hazelwoodplumbing@gmail.…) came the next day rooted the toilet and put a new phalange for a few hundred dollars. It worked until a few weeks later I could figure out what was going on. I ultimate replaced a portion of the line which had a root ball in it. Mr. Rooter is owned by general SF . These guys are heartless, quality is poor, prices are high.

After coming home from a weekend away - I discovered my sink to be leaking everywhere. Pissed off, I called Mr. Rooter, set an appointment for the next day and spent the rest of the evening sulking. I hate having any sort of a repair-person come to my house, it is frustrating, expensive and often inconvenient.

Mr. Rooter called to confirm, showed up when he said he would, put booties on to keep my floors clean, was nice to my dog, showed me how to fix the problem myself next time, taught me how to be nicer to my faucets and charged me a reasonable amount.

I am less frustrated, can refill my Brita pitcher and have a sink full of dishes needing attention. Successful? Indeed!

Bob is the best! Hands down the best experience with a plumbing company that I've ever had.

We had an emergency plumbing situation with some disgusting overflow back into our tub and toilet and called at 6pm on a weeknight. They said someone would be here between 7:30 and 8:30 and Bob showed up at 7:30 on the nose. He was extremely nice and professional, listened to what had happened and immediately knew what to do. He solved the plug in the our building's main line and also used a camera to diagnose the issue. Bob was wonderful, was there about an hour and was completely reasonable with pricing (we were shocked how affordable it was considering horror stories about overtime plumbers). He also gave us his contact information in case our landlord needed to talk to him.

Definitely call Bob and Mr. Rooter if you have any plumbing needs - I highly recommend them. Thanks Bob!

Checked Yelp after looking through the Yellow Pages for a plumber. Out of the handful of reviews that I found for only afew plumbers, I decided to take a chance with Mr. Rooter(no reviews here on Yelp until now 8) ) Called them up and they said they could have someone out in about 1-2 hours. They kept their promise, and showed up on time! The man to perform the technical toilet taming went by the name of Kelly. Even though the estimate was free, he did a very thorough inspection and asked all the right questions(moreso than the other company that came out for a diagnosis). He even ran a camera down the pipes to see what was causing the backup. Once down the exterior clear out drain, and a second time down the actual toilet drain. We agreed on a price and work commenced. The clog found, toilet re-installed, and everything cleaned up all in about 1.5-2 hours. Cost us about 375 bones, but we got what we paid for.....Professional, neat and tidy(he actually cleaned up the mess after the work), no hidden charges, thorough, uhhhh.............yeah..........5 stars! Thanks again!

Quite disappointed with Mr Rooter service for a clogged kitchen sink. One plumber came out 430pm (as scheduled), took a look at the p-trap, found it to be clean, and recommended snaking the drain to clean out any debris ($309) and some other secondary cleaning service (another $500 on top). The price for the the snaking service is about 2x the norm, and the secondary cleaning service was an entirely unnecessary upsell (which he tried to push 2-3 times). In any case, the plumber did not want to do the service the same day (even though it was only 430p and he had the equipment in his truck), so he scheduled a separate appointment the next day for 2pm. Next day, a different plumber showed up at 630p (4.5 hours late), and had no knowledge of the previous plumber's assessment. I told him $309 was way out of range, especially considering the 4.5 hours I waited (I'm happy to pay extra for convenience, but this was not convenient for me). He said he could do not better on the price and left. A complete waste of my time.

Bob and his guys were fantastic. Came out on Memorial day within one hour. Quickly identified the problem and made the fix. Arrived on time, was clean, very professional, and didn't charge holiday time. Would strongly recommend him to anyone whether it is a big or small job.

Hands down & Thumbs up - Mr. Rooter is the place to call for any and all of your plumbing needs and Bob Blanchard is definitely your man! Had what appeared to be a cracked drain pipe running through our property causing foundation problems. I went down to the city planning department to see if their sewage maps showed the drain pipe in question. Of course their maps didn't show any so I was on my own. Needed to not only find the cause, but also find where the pipe originated from. Got on Yelp and found Mr. Rooter. Called and made an appointment requesting a pipe camera be brought. Bob showed up 10 minutes before the appointed time which timeliness is always a good sign. Unfortunately the camera Bob had with him was too big to snake around the pipes bend so we had to reschedule a revisit for the next day. Long story short - due to a couple of reschedules that was no fault of Bob's, the correct camera showed what I needed to see. Bob wrapped up his gear, put it in his truck and started to leave... I said, Hey Bob, what about the invoice? To that Bob replied, Oh, forget it I'm sorry it took so long.... I thought to myself wow, now that's what you call customer service!

So, several weeks later one of our tenants not only had a stopped kitchen drain, but when the next door tenant turned on her garbage disposal dirty water filled her sink. Come to find that the next door units sink was also clogged, but the tenant didn't realize it. I tried clearing the clog myself first using some drain cleaner (to no affect), then tried a snake to clear the clog (also to no affect). Well, rather than waste my time I decided to call Bob. After all, Bob did me right the first time and if I was going to call a plumber I was going to give the business to Bob. Bob was on- sight within a couple of hours and again earlier than the appointed time. He assessed the situation and said due to the two back to back units sharing the same drain with no clean out, in order to clear the clog he needed to open up the wall and install a clean out. Getting behind the wall meant removing the kitchen sink cabinet/counter and open the wall to access the drain pipes. I'm sure you can imagine what my response was to that... Anyways to save myself some money and let Bob get onto his next job I told him I'd pull everything out and open the wall and he could come back the following morning to do his magic. So, the following morning Bob showed up and with sawzall in hand, a cut here, a cut there... within 20 minutes he had installed a clean out for me and was done! I couldn't believe how fast and efficient he was... That said.... I'll be using Bob anytime I need plumbing work done and you'd be amiss if you didn't. 5 Stars to Mr. Rooter & Bob

Bob saved the day. Our sewer backed up at 7pm on a weeknight and after calling a few places - he gave us a time estimate, showed up on time and didn't charge us an arm-and-a-leg. Professional and on-time - a great combo! He even told us what was wrong with the system (the addition done by the previous owners didn't pitch the plumbing correctly) and how to fix it (not an easy fix, unfortunately.)

Tohi from Mr. Rooter came to fix our garbage disposal on July 4th, when no one else in the city was working. He arrived very soon after we called and was able to identify and fix the problem quickly. On top of that, he was very kind and professional. Highly recommend Mr. Rooter. Thank you Tohi!

Holy cow, you needed a $10 flapper valve replaced and he replaced the entire toilet? I've used Mr. Rooter before, and you have to remember that these guys, like other big rooter guys 1) generally use less experienced, cheaper workers and 2) incentivize them to upsell - to sell you more than you need. They work on commission - do a google search on upsell and plumbers. The time I used them, they got the drain unclogged but had to do a hack job, breaking through a pipe.

Rip off!!! those people are not to be trusted!! The nice person on the phone tells you that someone will be out to give you a free price quote.. When the technician arrives he says that what they do is take your toilet out of the ground and do a full check to find out what is wrong for a mere $435! That's the answer? Are you kidding? They don't even try anything else first? No special plunging technique. No snake like tool to try to unclog the toilet. Mr. Rooter, you should tell people over the phone that the free price estimate is actually a way to get one of your technicians into my house to tell me that I have to spend $435 for you to actually diagnose the problem and make me feel stuck and backed into a corner... because now you are here and I still don't know what is wrong and you are telling me I have to spend $375 to even find out! No thank you!!! Do not call these people. Go somewhere that is not trying to scam you!

This has taken me far too long to write a review about the excellent service I received on behalf of a friend of mine. She had spent about $150 to $200 to have a sewer backup unclogged by another company and the guy came out and said she had broken pipe about here at a Y inside her garage and left. I took over, and driving down Judah St I stopped in at Mr Rooter to ask a few questions. I talked to a young guy named Ben and explained what went down so far. Doesn't sound like he knew what the F*** he was doing he said, explained why, and said he'd drive out to take second look no charge unless he had to do more work ( we live in the neighborhood).
Let me tell you that I have been involved in customer service work in people's homes almost all of my working life, and Ben was just the type of intelligent, straight forward, competent guys you would want in your home. WE went step by step, with clear explanations and charges detailed as WE diagnosed the problem and he showed me ON CAMERA, exactly what and where the problem was, tree roots outside the house in the driveway. He cleared the problem to stop the backup temporarily, but roots would come back. He advised us of the the cost to repair, and came back two days later (he was off the next day) and completed the job himself except the concrete finishing which was done the next day by a subcontractor.

#1, I didn't know they still made guys like this anymore, Ben took ownership of the problem from start to finish.

#2, the cost for the considering the work done was reasonable and and detailed step by step during the diagnosis of the problem.

#3, I have complete satisfaction and confidence in the work done, and the enhancement of a second clean out where the work was done. (a great idea since the work was being done there anyway).

I could not recommend Mr Rooter high enough based on my experience. Thanks Ben! Guys like you bring something to a company that money can't buy.

Did a fine job but they're shady on the pricing, they try to sell you more than you need, and suddenly the price drops when you hesitate over this essential thing that needs to be done ... Would not use them again. Beware especially if you're a woman, they think you don't know what you're doing (which is true) so they can sell you a waterfront property in Kansas (or a whole new pipeline to the street because of something unknowable and not perceptible that they show you on the screen.

I did several thousand dollars of work with these guys. They installed a gas line for a new stove, fireplace, rerouted drain and installed new water lines. None of which was easy, my house was build in 1930 and they handled it all. They did the job quickly and professionally. I would use again anytime.

The main sewer from the my house was clogged and created in a huge puddle in my garage. I called Mr. Rooter and Bob came by and fixed problem within an hour. He also put a camera through the pipes showing the clog was caused by tree roots. Not good news but nice to know.

My sewer line was clogged and its two stories down steep stairs to get to the backyard where the sewer cleanout is located. Bell Plumbing wanted over $800 just to get two guys out here to lug the machine down the stairs and clean it out. I told them to get lost, checked Yelp, and called Mr. Rooter. Rodrigo arrived within 15 minutes and offered to do the job for $180 if I would help him carry the machine up and down the stairs - well I'll tell you I've never been so happy to be a plumbers helper in my life. He got the job done and was gone less than one hour after my initial call for $180 - Thank you Yelp! And thank you Rodrigo and Mr. Rooter

I had a clogged toilet on Labor Day. From the time I called to when the toilet was fixed was 45 min. The plumber (Rodrigo) was very friendly and courteous, and he even said that since he didn't need to snake it that he wouldn't charge! All in all, a perfect plumber experience (except for the clogged toilet).

Called Mr. Rooter this morning after our sewage line backed up. They told me they would have someone out between 1 and 3 pm. A little before 1 pm, Bob showed up and was able to quickly diagnose and solve the issue. Furthermore, they were kind enough to give me a discount when I told them I heard about them from yelp. Mr. Rooter Plumbing worked on a large job for me recently -- replacing an old 200+ foot private lateral sewer pipe that runs through a neighbor's property. Bob Blanchard and his team did a great job . They showed up on time each day, kept me apprised of the situation when unexpected problems arose, minimized any inconvenience to my neighbor, took great care to minimize damage to landscaping and irrigation systems during the project, and did a very professional job. I highly recommend them and would use them again for any plumbing needs. They serve all of San Francisco and San Mateo Counties.

Exceptional service from Mr. Rooter! We had broken one of the cartridges inside our shower fixture. I tried to fix it myself and was able to buy a replacement cartridge, but I was not able to fix it properly. Rather than mess it up further, we called Mr. Rooter and they came in the time frame they gave us. The plumber quickly looked at the problem, saw that I had missed one small adjustment and he was able to quickly fix the problem within 15 minutes. We were thrilled to have the problem fixed so quickly and when I asked what we owed him, he said that he couldn't accept payment for such an easy job, but he would appreciate it if we kept Mr Rooter in mind for future jobs. It doesn't get much better than that! We are putting Mr Rooter on our speed dial :)

Did a search on Yelp and found Mr Rooter, who handled the Sunset Area. Spoke to Bob Blanchard, informed him my problem was with a clogged drain in the garage, that was backed up and resulted in some standing water on the floor. I had mentioned that the week before, another company come out to clear the line, they indicated that there was a piece of metal lodged into the pipe causing debri to catch/clog the line. Bob's guy promptly arrived (about 40 minutes after the call ) and was able to clear the line, but also confirmed with a camera, and showed me an object (piece of metal) was lodged in the pipe. Bob arrived and using a detector, confirmed the exact location of the object. He was able to provide me with a reasonable estimate and was able to schedule the work for the next day to dig out and replace a small portion of the pipe. The mysterious piece of metal was a broken cover plate that had fallen in a few years ago. As a result of the camera proble that they did, I also decided to replace a portion of the existing drainage line that had extensive wear (70 yrs old) that connected to a newer portion of drainage line that was replaced a few years ago. Bob was able to provide a reasonable estimate/price for this additional work as well. I am satisfied with the prompt and honest service I received from Bob and his crew. Would certainly use them again.

Ok, so it is Sunday and my toilet is having issues. I called another plumber and they NEVER SHOWED! I called Mr. Rooter and they answered the phone immediately and set an appointment with a two hour window. The owner said he would call when he was half an hour from my house and he did just that. So he looks at the problem and quotes me a price and I said, lets do it. He pointed out that I needed a supply line replaced or else it would leak later. Better to know that in advance and to make a decision immediately than to have a return engagement. The guy did the job quickly and fixed the problem. I highly recommend this firm because: A. The owner came himself on a Sunday which tells me a lot about the business and B, the guy does exactly what he says he will do. What was really cool was that we got into a conversation and I found that Bob is very down to earth and extremely sincere. Hard working and honest. What more can you ask for.......OH, and also on time. Use this firm the next time you have an issue. Problem solved!
