HISTORY

Established in 1980.
Magic Plumbing was started in the late 70s as a drain service company called Magic Rooter. For years the company provided specialty drain cleaning services to the City of San Francisco. In the early 90's the name Magic Rooter was then changed to Magic Plumbing to incorporate the plumbing services the company was already providing. The company then developed into a full service HVAC company ready to work on your furnace and AC equipment including hight quality duct cleaning. Here at Magic Plumbing, we believe in The Golden Rule. Treat people the way you would like to be treated. Shoot straight with them and charge a fair price with no nasty surprises. In short, when you work with us we're going to do everything we can to make the Magic Plumbing experience such that--when it's all said and done--you will not hesitate, for even a second, to recommend us to anyone. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Magic Plumbling. I was caught in quite the pickle...
I was preparing Thanksgiving dinner, when the main sewage line of my house became clogged from too much waste down the garbage disposal. I thought I was going to have to cancel dinner!
Than, FLASH! Like a superhero, Mike Curry arrived at the scene. Perfectly professional and on time. Mike diagnosed the issue within moments and got hard to work. In no time our issue was resolved, and our moods were elevated thanks to Mikes friendly demeaner and kind heart.
Mike has become somewhat of a legend in our home, and I wouldn't consider calling anyone else for our future plumbing issues.

Mike from Magic plumbing just left my apartment so I decided to take the opportunity to write a review.

I had a clogged toilet that I could not dislodge despite seriously attempts at doing so.  I called a couple of places and was taken-a-back by the prices for a routine service (most quoted 130-190).  I went with MP because they said they could come within the hour, which they did.  Mike was a nice guy, go the job done in less than 5 minutes. I am happy with that.

THe thing I was not super stoked about was the pricing.  When it was invoice time, he said the usual price is $210 but because I mentioned their online 10% off coupon, he said he would do it at $170.  I then told him I was quote 130-170 on the phone - 130 if it's 5 minutes (was less) and 170 if it's more than.  He then asked that I pay 150 as a middle ground, and I told him I will pay the quoted price, which he agreed to.  So, not a stressful haggling situation per se, but I did have to insist on paying what I was quoted (some people are pushovers and would have paid more).

All that said, service was timely, Mike was nice, and I paid what was quoted, I am satisfied.

We've used Magic Plumbing for the past 6 years for big jobs to small jobs. They've helped to put in a new pump system (which was very intense work), fixed leaking toilets, and cleared multiple clogged drains over the years. I have to say Jeremy delivers! He's professional and gets the job well done. Highly recommended.

I got the number for Magic Plumbing from the Diamond Certified guide and called about 9PM on Saturday night and left a message with the live person answering service.  Pablo the dispatcher called me back within 15 minutes and was very nice.  He asked for some details of the issue and said whoever was working on Sunday would call me, also asking what time was good, I said any time Sunday.  I heard from Jeremy a little after 9am on Sunday morning, I gave him the quick rundown of my issue, and told him no hurry because it wasn't an emergency, but he showed up in about an hour which was great.  I had loud humming from the hot water and leaks from the cold water connected to my washing machine.  He made adjustments and my machine was running again with no leaks or sound effects in under half an hour.  He also installed a shower head and examined the other faucets at my request.  Jeremy was very congenial and listened to all my plumbing stories and concerns.  If you're a home owner, you know what I'm talking about.  He gave me some good advice and the price was basic service fee, $168.  No mess left behind.   I can recommend them based on attitude, fast turn around time, and knowledge.  Also there is no extra charge for weekends, which saves you time and money from having to take time off during the week.

Mike was awesome. i called a bunch of other companies and left messages. Magic Plumbing picked up the phone right away and came in quickly. fixed the problem in 15 minutes and their price is very reasonable. highly recommend.

I use Magic Plumming for a leak from my garbage disposal . The appointment was very easy to make  and quick which was nice . Two men showed up and immediately went to work . They were not gentle with anything to say the least. One guy just about pulled my installed garbage can on tracks out by blindly yanking it until I told him it was screwed in. Of course I was told the entire garbage disposal had to be replaced - but after installing it , it was still leaking . Then I was told there was a crack in the connecting elbow. So that had to be changed as well . They worked quickly and were professional and friendly , however , I felt the pricing was a bIt too high . Total cost - $475.00!!

No one wants to spend Saturday night w no toilet!  Five calls to plumbers and no help.  Called Magic Plumbing and the owner called me back immediately.  Then, his employee Dino arrived - after a few minutes.  Dino was thoughtful, openly honest and did the job efficiently and  correctly.    Can't do better than that!  Thanks Magic Plumbing for running a good show

I had Paul do a job for me back in the mid-80s when he was first starting out... He did a great job then so I called him again for a major mainline replacement of our four unit building. He quoted a fair price and did the work promptly, on time, very neatly, and even though Underground utilities required them to route the main line differently, they did not change the original bid.

Magic Plumbing is the best! We had a plumbing crisis on a Sunday morning- I called Magic, spoke with a very friendly and knowledgeable person named Becky. She told me that a specialist, Bernardino, would be dispatched been 2-4 pm. He texted me 20 minutes before he arrived, had all the tools and equipment he would need in his fully stocked truck, figured out the problem, solved it! Pipes cleared, everything fixed, disaster averted. Truly awesome service.

Their quote came in much higher than any other plumbing company for a trenchless sewer lateral replacement.    Seemed honest but not really interested in doing the job.   I think of this as 'the yelp effect'.   Sometimes when companies have lots of yelp reviews, they become more expensive than everyone else.

I have used Magic Plumbing many times in the past.  The services I used included minor plumbing issues, replacing toilets to those that conserve more water, and most recently, to replace a water heater.  It was extremely easy to set up an appointment and they were able to come out the same day I phoned, which was a Saturday.  The technician came out and was able to determine that the water heater needed to be replaced.  He was able to get it to temporarily work for a day until he could return the next day, on Sunday, to replace it.  There was a bit of a hiccup when he replaced it, because it was a bit too wide for the space, but he was able to return the next day and replace it with one that fit correctly.  In the end, everything turned out well and the water heater has been working fine.  I would not hesitate to recommend Magic Plumbing for any plumbing issues.

I'm a stickler for excellence (my father was a contractor).  
I needed my shower unplugged, my kitchen tricked out with a new faucet, a reverse osmosis filter system, rust coming out of my tub and basement sink and installation of net (SF approved) toilet.  
Adam was my technician.  If I needed them again, I wouldn't waste time, and just ask for Adam.  He worked FAST.  Was intuitive on my needs.  Didn't waste time (clock).  I felt like I got a total fix with the best selection, work and cost savings.
I have used other plumbing companies...Fast Response was one.  But, Magic is my company now.  I bet there are other companies that are good, but I'm familiar with contracting, and service, and Magic is where I have landed.

Just had Alex with Magic Plumbing out to fix our toilet. Was right on time very personable knew exactly what the problem was fixed it and cleaned up and was on his way with in the hour. The scheduler Sally was fantastic and very helpful and pleasant. Really a great experience.

I was extremely happy with the service that I received from Magic Plumbing and would recommend them highly and without reservation.  The last thing that you want to hear is that you need to have sewer lateral line replaced...ugh!  But mine was original to the house, clay, and 80-90% blocked with roots.  Magic Plumbing offered a great service.  The communication was excellent.  Options were spelled out.  The job was completed ahead of schedule and at the lowest end of the projected cost!  Everything is working great.  They even pointed me toward a coupon that I was unaware of for the initial cleaning and video inspection.  I hope not to have to call them again anytime soon...but if I have a plumbing need in the future...I now have a plumber!

Excellent service and very professional!
I made an appointment to have Magic Plumbing come out and give me an estimate on what I thought was a plumbing problem. The receptionist was very informative about their process.  Carl called me to make the appointment but later had to change the time.  Then Alberto came and did a thorough investigation of my problem.  He noticed water was leaking through the wood to the basement.  The pipes were not leaking.  He saved me from an unnecessary plumbing job that another company was going to charge me to do.
The whole estimate was free.  Amazing service!

Seriously, this is one of the best experiences I have had with a plumber - Pablo and I corresponded via email regarding my particular need.  He was transparent about the type of work needed and even gave me recommendations on a nice replacement faucet for my kitchen sink.

Total scope of work included installing a reverse osmosis kit and replacing the faucet - Mike and Ryan were my plumbers on the day of installation.  They texted me a half hour before their arrival and were at my house within their appointment window.  They greeted me with smiles and walked me through their work - part of the tank for the reverse osmosis kit did not fit under the sink so Mike was able to adjust the work and use a portion of my other cabinet to accommodate the whole kit.

They were thorough in their work and finished in less than two hours.  I will definitely be calling them again for any work that I need!!  Thank you, gentlemen!!

Expensive and did not resolve the issue. After the first rains this year we had them come over to unclog the main drain in our house. They came, did what they said they could, but mentioned an issue finding which line was really the main drain. Still, they charged me an arm and a leg (two to three times what others had quoted me earlier). I used them on the recommendation of my general contractor, and paid thinking I was paying for a quality job. Now the next rain has come. The garage is overflowing with sewer water, so are the showers on the bottom floor and the toilets. And so are the downspouts. Obviously they didn't solve the issue. But they did take my money. What a disappointment. I'm calling them now in the hope that they will finally fix it and not charge me a cent more. One might dream.

I was very impressed.

The hot/cold water selector on my bath/shower was not working.  I knew the water in my condo building would be off Monday, so I had Magic Plumbing come out the Wednesday before to see it and arrange the fix to coincide with he water shut off.  Dino showed up on time, was very pleasant, took 15 minutes to diagnose the problem and propose the solution.  He gave me a price -- $350.  Struck me as a little expensive, but ok.  He came back on the Monday and did the repair.  That water was off so it could not be tested.  We set a time the next day for him to come back.  He arrived on time, but the water still was not ready.  He agreed to come back later that evening.  He arrived on time again, the water was ready, he tested, wrapped up, and I paid.  Honestly, I do not know what else I could reasonably ask for.  The service was outstanding.

Every good review must have been written by their employees... TERRIBLE EXPERIENCES (plural). They came out to fix a stopped up drain at the building main.... 2 weeks later, plugged up... came out and said, oh, we didn't know it was this bad... we'll 'jet spray' it.... 2 weeks later... oh, we didn't know you needed the Main Main cleared.... we'll do that. Wanted to get paid each time, even though they kept promising that it would be finished and fixed and they'd come out and fix it for free if it didn't work.

Complete scam plumbers. Charged 3 x more for each visit than smaller guys.

Also, if they say they'll give you an estimate BEFORE they do work... don't believe them. They just do the work and then try to figure out how much they can charge you.

We've used Magic Plumbing twice: first to get our outside drains ready for the winter storms, and next for a leaking sink. From the office staff to the plumbers, Magic Plumbing is a pleasure to work with. They're responsive, professional, fast, and they do a great job. Moreover, they look for the best solution even if it's the cheaper one. Our first go with them, we scheduled the service, which was a painless process. Mike was on time, checked what we needed, made a recommendation, and then did a fantastic job. Our second time was a, we need help now! situation. We called and they sent Zayah right away. Two cancellations at last minute... still no ETA - really unprofessional service

They tell you Thursday afternoon and they call to cancel at 12.30 pm. I arranged for Saturday morning. Saturday, 9.30 am, they don't even have a schedule yet. Then they say 11 am, max 1 pm. They call 12.45 pm to say there's no parking, so they drove off, without even a ring. I go outside and there are 3 spots open... They tell me to wait an hour. After an hour and a half, they still don't have an ETA.

After a plumber a friend referred me to totally flaked, I found & contacted magic plumbing to deal with a replacement of the line that feeds my house.  They showed up promptly at the time scheduled, figured out an estimate, started work and even gave me a few different ways to repair things depending on how future-proof I wanted it to be.  Really great service overall.

Contacted these guys to come out a look at my water tank for a repair after PG&E advised me to replace the spark ignitor (~$180 fir this part).

Before they even touched it, they insisted I would need a new water heater ($2,200) and said they didnt 'like to' repair old water heaters because it wasn't worth it!

I should have known when they refused to give me an $ estimation of this repair part +installation over the phone...

I recently had a bathroom leak and originally called Lutz Plumbing since they'd worked on the problem before. After Lutz was slow to call back and couldn't get a plumber to see me for 4 more days, I called Magic, as they'd recently done work with our Home Owners Assoc. Someone answered my call directly at 5 pm (instead of a voicemail, like Lutz), and was able to get someone to see me in the window that worked for me the next morning. When Adam arrived, right at the start of the window they told me, he was outstanding. He quickly assessed and fixed the problem, and wanted to ensure I was getting full value, so also checked the kitchen sink and tub. He also is very friendly and helpful...which also makes a difference. I will definitely call Magic net time. Thank you!!

I've got to leave a review for the two exceptional examples of customer service from Magic Plumbing I experienced two days in a row. When I was moving out of my condo on 7/19, Magic Plumbing was doing some maintenance work flushing the lateral lines in the main building. My moving truck and the Magic Plumbing truck were parked tandem in the loading dock. Even though they had JUST gotten all their gear hooked up to start their work, the Magic Plumbing crew was very good natured about stopping what they were doing, packing up and moving their truck so my moving company could exit. Instead of being curt, they were courteous and their friendly accommodation made a positive impression. The very next day, in the single family home I'd just moved into, I realized there was a bigger issue with the toilet hook-up than I could deal with - well beyond the simple swapping out of a toilet. Based largely on my experience the previous day with the Magic Plumbing crew, I called them for help.

Magic Plumbing sent over a plumber that afternoon for what turned out to involve replacing a soft lead bend for the toilet with a cast iron connection to the main sewer line. Since he was under the house already, he went ahead and replaced some galvanized pipe with copper where it had corroded from being tied to a copper line (this is work on the laundry I'd planned to line up down the road.) Again, the plumber who responded to this Friday afternoon call was good-natured, pragmatic, and willing to roll up his sleeves for a big job at the very end of his week. He even got the plumbing set up to where I could finish up the toilet replacement I'd planned on my own. Thanks, Tiberio!

Pricing was very reasonable, quality of work was excellent. Two days in a row, Magic Plumbing's people were in a position to make an already stressful experience more stressful and two days in a row they did the opposite. Can't say enough about how great they are to work with. Highly recommend.

Okay, these people have done thousands--thousands--of dollars of work on my house.  At this point, I only have only called them for minor things.  The last two times, both in the last year, they fixed a broken toilet lever chain (!) and today, after they didn't show up at all for over an hour (for an 8 am appt) and I had to have their service paged twice, they charged me $400 to change a flush valve, including $50 for a part that I know cost less than $10.  I have had enough of their brand of overcharging ($175/hr) and irresponsible scheduling.

Showed up on time, did the job, fixed it.  Cost WAY too much for the work (less than two hours of work cost $720!) which they were upfront about - I coulda said No.
Bringing me to the fact that plumbers in San Francisco ALL charge what I consider to be WAY more than their services are worth.  It's interesting that there apparently no competition in this market on price.

Adam did an amazing job with installing my bathroom shower.  He is a perfectionist and friendly, and professional.  His ad said he is a toilet specialist but he is much more with 20 years experience.  He did a few jobs for me and always does a great job where he builds it to last a long time.

I had an appointment where they suggested the time and they didn't show up. I had to call in for them to tell me they couldn't make it. It's not easy arranging to be home during work hours so this was inconvenient and unprofessional.

Awesome Service!
My wife and I moved into renovated home in Bernal Heights 6 months ago.  About a month ago, we saw the sewer backing up into our back yard, we called another service (a top rated one in Yelp) as it was an emergency and we needed some assistance right away.  They used a snake and seemed that the problem was solved, it wasn't, we saw another backup, not as bad as the previous one but bad enough that got me thinking something bad was going on.
I did some research and found Magic Plumbing. They were in the property the next day with a Camera to do an inspection, it was very difficult to figure out the problem as there was a lot of water. Paul came with a plan and we started the execution. They had to dig a trench in our garage to replace some of the sewer pipes, also they've found construction material that was clogging another pipe.  It was very stressful to hear the bad news, but they made it work, figuring out alternatives, making sure the job was done properly in a shorter period of time.
Every day, they left the garage in perfect condition. They were professional and fast. My wife works from home, but even then they went the extra mile to make sure they minimize the number of interruptions.

I have used Magic Plumbing since 2008 when I took over the management of a mid size apartment building here in SF. The building is very old so I have needed their services often. Since I work in construction I am in contact with many different plumbing companies as well as tradesmen. Magic plumbing has been professional and reliable on all of their service calls. They have provided me with accurate estimates, they show up on time, and I can reach them 24/7.
I can relax a bit knowing that when ( not IF but WHEN) there is a problem I have the solution; call Magic Plumbing.

There is NO such thing as a simple plumbing problem!

The communication was prompt and my shower head was fixed quickly. However the charge of 285$ for 10 min of service is insane. I was just tired of dealing with it on my end and went ahead with it. But you can buy it from Home Depot for $10 and DIY.

Had them come out to look at delayed ignition on my 1 year old water heater and the guy who came out clearly didn't know how to fix it but wouldn't admit it so he said I would need a new water heater and said that he would charge $800 for him to install (NOT including the price of the water heater). That's ridiculous because it's more than what the water heater costs.

I told them that I had talked to the manufacturer and they offered instructions on how to fix it, but they refused to look at the field instructions and the tech outright refused to talk to the manufacturer because he didn't want to waste his time and said I need a new water heater.

Well - called another plumber who was willing to work with me and the manufacturer and it was fixed in 20 mins.

I had a problem with an admittedly old furnace that wasn't operating correctly. Turns out there was just a fan limit switch that needed a little  TLC. I hoped Magic Pluming could just swap out the part for reliability.

Instead, the guy that came out took carbon monoxide (CO) readings as part of his inspection (fantastic!). But, he didn't take a flue reading, and rather took a reading a reading not ambient, not ON the vent, but IN the duct (not normal, but ok, sure). This was right when the heater turned on (before reaching normal operating efficiency). Anyway, the result was higher than modern furnaces, but not anywhere near a scary one from our perspective. But he proclaims I need to shut you down now like it's a big emergency, and refuses to touch it, saying we need to replace it immediately. No mention of taking readings at the flue. No mention of adjusting the fuel/air ratio. No mention of how far off we are from ambient urban CO levels (not far!). No talk about options at all. Just a fear-induced sales pitch to drop several thousand dollars immediately. We declined.

Oh, and in shutting us down, he broke and jammed the ball lock valve that supplies gas to the furnace. I used the valve about 5 times the day prior. It worked flawlessly before Magic Plumbing broke it. Now I have to replace that. Awesome.

Easy to book, plummer (Adam) was right on time (in fact he came early!) extremely professional and knowledgeable. Didn't have my exact faucet in stock, so he offered me several options and I ended up spending less money and am very happy with my new choice!!

I had Magic Plumbing replaced my sewer pipes twice before and they did a fantastic job for me so I called them again this time when my sewer is clogged up.  Frank, the guy came by and found the problem right away.  He came back few days later, opened up the floor, cut the sewer pipe and found the object right on the spot.  He is very friendly and professional, the crew are also friendly and efficient, too.  I am quite satisfied with their service and will use them again. They have good tools to search for the object in the sewer.

Don't consider using this outfit for any major work -- they give unrealistic bids and are dishonest.

My sewer line lies along my neighbors sewer line. Magic plumbing was digging up my neighbors sewer line and offered to fix our sewer line at the same time. I had an exchange to understand exactly what was wrong with my sewer line. The guy tried to make it sound that there was something alarmingly wrong, but I didn't get a very clear response so I decided not go through with it. Later I hired a contractor to look at this sewer line again, and aside from some normal tear and wear there was really nothing wrong and the line didn't need replacing.

I wish I could give less than one star!  I had such a terrible encounter with Magic Plumbing that is has not only impacted me, but my WHOLE building - that's right 26 apartments!  I hired Mr. Rooter to do work on my apartment and we went through the HOA association to turn off the water for the entire building (which is what is legally required). The HOA hired Hetherington Plumbing to turn off the water on and off, because that is who they typically use to conduct such services.   Another apartment, taking advantage of the water turn off, hired Magic Plumbing to put in a shower box.  Rather than waiting for Hetherington, Magic turned off the water themselves.  Then, when they were done with their repairs, they turned the water back on after an hour (WITHOUT waiting for my work to be done- the work that gained permission for the water to be off for two hours).  Then they did NOT drain turn the hot water back on properly, so the ENTIRE building was without hot water, affecting all 26 units.  When Magic was called to alert them of their malfeasance (within two hours), they refused to send someone out to remedy their mistake, rendering the building with no hot water for 24 hours.  They ignored legal requirements by turning off the water without the HOA's permission and they refused to immediately remedy their gross error.  Please do not use them.  Use a company that has higher ethics.

Water heater went out Friday, setup a Saturday 9:30 AM to replace water heater. Also told them furnace would probably need to be replaced after.
Sat morning they called to confirm appointment and I sent pictures of my water heater. Eventually around 2 pm the repair man showed up. He looked at it and said he needed help to install and would not be able to do it (not sure why they send one man for a large water heater). He told me they would call me shortly to give a cost estimate and when they can install.
I received no call or text from the company the rest of the day, or the whole next day.
On Monday I received a text saying they would like to come out and look at the furnace to give me and estimate. I said what about the water heater? They said they would give me an estimate on both.
I reminded them they guy was already here and took a bunch of pictures. They again said they would send a Furnace estimator out and do both (hard upsell)
I told them like I stated initially, I wanted hot water (furnace replaced) before I worry about the furnace.
At that point they told me I should probably find another company to do the work. I was completely shocked.
Bottom line, arrived late, looked at the job, unable to do the work, left me hanging for almost two days, then refused to give me an estimate on the water heater without coming out again and giving me an estimate on my furnace.
Be very careful dealing with this company.

Here's a deal-breaker: They never showed up to the appointment. They gave me a 2-hour window, for which I arranged to be late for work. But the plumber never showed up, and never called. When I called to ask for an apology, they said they'd get back to me. Eventually someone called and apologized on my voice mail. Then, the other day, I received a form letter from the owner: Thank you for recently giving us the opportunity to be of service to you. Meanwhile, we called Frank's All City Plumbing. Frank arrived quickly and fixed the problem. Thanks, Frank!

It is very hard to find an honest, affordable, licensed plumber in the city.
After reading Magic Plumbing I decided to give it a try and Our Plumber Miguel was absolutely great. My stove needed to have a gas shot down valve right behind the stove For the installation of my new stove. I called late on a Saturday and they were at my home in less than 24hrs.
They cleaned under the stove and cleaned after work.

Would I use Magic Plumbing again, ABSOLUTELY NOT!. They were supposed to be onsite between 12 and 3 pm but showed up at 4 pm, left at 4pm for another job, came back at 5pm, left at 6pm for another job, came back at 7:30 pm and are still working onsite at 8 pm. Obviously there are doing two jobs at once on different sides of Golden Gate park.

To explain, I made an appointment on Saturday for Sunday since Magic Plumbing said they were running behind on Saturday. I asked for a morning appointment and they said I would be notified in the morning as to my appointment time. At 10:30 I received a phone call that the technician would be onsite between noon and 3 pm. I called at 3 pm and they said the technician was running behind, that they could not reach him and that there was no ETA for his arrival. I escalated to the dispatch manager who told me both technicians were working on one problem in the Richmond district. He said they had to run out to their shop by Candlestick but that both would stop by my place in the Sunset to look at the issue of the leak in the kitchen ceiling. One technician came back as promised at 5 pm, worked for about an hour and then said he needed to run to his truck in the Richmond district to get a tool for a rusted bolt. After 1 hour and 15 minutes I called the technician and he said they had run into additional issues on the Richmond district job. Magic Plumbing was obviously doing both jobs simultaneously using both technicians on two separate jobs on either side of Golden Gate Park. After 1.5 hours both technicians came back to the Sunset district. It is now 8 pm and both technicians are still working on an issue that was supposed to be addressed between 12 and 3 pm.

I have had several plumbing issues and I contacted Magic Plumbing. They are indeed live true to their name. Everyone I encountered with was magically helpful and professional. Team that answers the phone and coordinates appointments are the sweetest. We had Ryan as our technician and he was beyond helpful, he walked me through everything and explained in detail. I am sorry to report that I was very disappointed with Magic Plumbing. We had a leak under the sink, that was a pipe issue. A plumber from MP came and said we needed to replace some main sections and suggested we replace the garbage disposal (which was working fine). We stupidly agreed and ended up with a $700 bill -- including $400 for the garbage disposal. The next day there was still a leak! So we asked him back and he suggested we replace the faucet! I was getting suspicious but he suggested that if I was concerned about money I could purchase my own at Discount Builders, which I appreciated. So I went there and decided to check out the cost of the garbage disposal. It was $70. I understand labor and markup but charging $400 for the VERY SIMPLE installation of a $70 disposal is outrageous. I called to complain about the entire mess (two visits, still a leaky sink) and they told me they would call me back. They never did. I won't ever call them again.

I had made an appt with another locally owned , non franchise business for a sink/disposal major clog.. That person no showed and no called until 4hours after the appt..

Called Magic in the meantime and they were here same day of call in 45minutes.. fixed it, cleaned up and all good.. Of course the $$$$$ is crazy with the plumbing industry, $245.00 for snaking, but they did come asap.. that's the only reason not a 5 *, but it is the way it is..Thanks Mike and will definitely call you guys again when another issue comes up.., For sure call them..

I first used Magic Plumbing about six months ago to unclog a blocked toilet line. They did excellent work.  I called Magic this week to ask if they could install a new gas water heater in my condo.  They suggested I email them pics of my water heater showing its connections and location. After receiving my pics they quickly emailed me an estimate for the work and called to see if I was OK with their cost estimate. With my approval they set up an appointment for the next morning. Deno (who had done my previous work) and his partner showed up on time and efficiently handled the removal and installation of the new water heater.  I was extremely happy with all the service I received from Magic and will use their services if I need work done in the future and also recommend them to others.

I recently had to redo my underground plumbing after upgrading my kitchen. I had a crew of 3 come in and finish the plumbing job in 1 day! They moved all my junk in the garage and my stacked washer dryer. They even came back a few days later after the concrete dried to put my washer and dryer back in place and hook it all back up. They cleaned up after themselves, hand mopped my floor, were extremely professional and were clear in communicating with me. There were no hidden fees and my plumbing works perfectly now! Great customer service from dispatch to the guys doing work in my home. Highly recommend!

We are located in San Francisco Hayes area and  had a bad back-up in our office that affected our sinks and toilets. We called a number of different people to look at our problem, but Magic Plumbing stood out. The plumber was knowledgeable and had all the tools needed to clear the problem. With-in a couple of hours, he had fixed the problem, cleaned up nicely and was on his way. We were very satisfied with the quality of Magic Plumbing's service and will not hesitate to call them again.

I had used Magic Plumbing for about 8 years, and up to recently they have worked out pretty well. A few weeks ago they charges $500+ for an hour to run a  copper tube to the refrigerator. This past week we hired them to remove an old toilet and install a new one. They charges $86 for a supply tube, which is about $5 on Amazon. They also didn't set the seal properly, and we had sewer gas leaking. They didn't want to take responsibility for it, but they did reseat the toilet. The continued to try to say the problem was something coming through the wall (a coat closet) or the basement (we are on a concrete slab). When I argued that the smell started when they put in the  toilet, the guy walked out on me, and slammed 2 doors. They have become so unprofessional, it is both sad, and good reason to not use them. There is plenty of competition in this business.

If you're a big fan of Nintendo, then you'll love Magic Plumbing! Back when we revealed the Wii during E3 2005 (then given the name Revolution), I was scared because I had no idea how the public would react to such a radically different idea of a motion control-based console targeted at more casual audiences. At that time, the GameCube was still marketed towards more hardcore Nintendo gamers, so the general populace had less of an idea of how impactful video games can be. Long story short, I got gassy. The toilets at that show were dreadful, constantly breaking down whenever I had dump my Reggie load into that porcelain oval. But, we decided to give our friends over at Magic Plumbing a call and they were off to the rescue! The toilet was unclogged and patrons of Nintendo could poop once again! Thank you guys, Mario would be proud!

Also, don't forget that Pokémon Sword and Shield editions are now in stores only for Nintendo Switch!

Magic Plumbing have been my go to plumbers for all of my home plumbing needs.  Magic Plumbing technicians are on time, friendly and professional and offer very reasonable rates.  They replaced my insikerator when my old one bit the dust, installed a new Sydney Caroma dual flush toilet (as well as saving water, you receive a rebate of $50 in Alamda County or $200 in SF).  They also installed my new bathroom vanity.  They have these amazing micro organisms that look like sand that eat away at any nasty stuff in your pipes...it's $60 well spent...next on the list...a washer and dryer!

I highly recommend Magic Plumbing for all of your plumbing needs.

P.S.They supply all the parts/items and take the hassle out of shopping around.

My parents who are senior citizens had a major plumbing issue at their building. Luckily my dad remembered getting a flyer in the mail from Magic. I am in Southern California and just started helping them with their finances. After checking out their reviews on Yelp I called them and they were out to meet my dad the next day. He really liked Paul and was impressed with the technology he had on hand to figure out what their plumbing issue was.
Within a week (as promised) they had all the permits, the work was completed, and new concrete had been poured. We were all very impressed with their speedy work and professionalism. Their work was quoted at almost 2K less than our regular company! I worked with Kristi in the office regarding billing. She was incredibly nice and they even picked the payment up from my parents so my dad wouldn't have to go to the post office.
Two weeks after this job our water heater went out. Again we called Magic Plumbing and they got the job done. There was a miscommunication about the quote but Pablo helped me over the phone and worked with me. Between Paul, Kristi, and Pablo they have our business for as long as we have our property. It took years for my parents to let me help them with these types of issues and we are so happy we found Magic Plumbing they have been very easy for me to work with by phone and email. I highly recommend them to anyone needing plumbing work. Their price is fair and in some cases much better than other local companies services the Mission and surrounding areas of SF.

I had a leaky shower head, so had to replace Delta cartridge. Tech came in and assessed situation, followed up with a quote for $770, including new trim at $550 and cartridge at $220). I called office and since I do not need new trim, i instructed them to order cartridge that I knew was about $75 from Delta, but figured with labor - that would be fine. A month later part arrived. Tech informed me that original quote was at 50% off since was quoted with new trim at full price (nowhere indicated on the quote)., so was going to charge $550. Silly me asked to also replace garden hose bib, a $10 item, was charged $189, so miraculously we still came to the magic number of $735. I will never use again and would warn others against using these rip-off artists.

P.S. Contrary to what owner suggests happened in his comments - the charge of $735 still sits on my credit card. There was no offer to adjust bill - neither by the tech (well, he did adjust from $220 to $550 for previously quoted work) nor by the head office afterwards - and they know how to find me if they would like to offer a partial credit. And additional work ($10 hose bib for which I paid $189) was on top of $550, so can't account for increase. As I mentioned before: hardly $100 in parts and over $600 in labor for a 40 minute appointment for very simple work.

P.P.S. And to tell you about the quality of the work: the garden hose for which source bib was replaced spews water everywhere because tech could not even bother to replace a 5 cent rubber seal that goes between the bib and the hose (which I now need to find time to locate at a hardware store and replace myself). Nor did he re-seal calking around the shower regulator, something that I too will have to do on my own.

Resolved our issue.

Then charged us what would constitute literally about 250/hr. We are a nonprofit. We dont have the resources to be gouged for simple plumbing issues.

After complaining, we were refunded some of the money and treated with respect in that process. Still, it didnt leave a great impression and I will definitely try some other services before calling Magic Plumbing again.

Nothing 'magic' about them.  
My water heater went out on a Sunday.
They came by, checked it out, and ordered the part needed, but it wouldn't be in until Thursday, 4 days later.
We set up an installation appointment for Friday.
On Friday, when the appointment for them to install the part came around, they called to say the part hadn't come in and wouldn't be in until the following Tuesday (NINE days after they first diagnosed the problem).  Why would I believe they could even get the part in by then?
I will have not had a working water heater for nine days, and now I don't know if they'll even return my $60 deposit.
Magic Plumbing said they were told the part was in, but their policy is not to pick up the part until they're on the way to the job.  
Maybe they should be sure they have the part IN THEIR HANDS before making an appointment to install the part.
I called another firm that has the part and they will install it tomorrow morning.
I never should have called Magic Plumbing.  If they were indeed 'magic,' they could have pulled the part out of their hat.

James was our technician and did an amazing job. Very friendly and did not mind us hovering over him with curiosity as to what was clogging the drain. They promised to call me back for an appointment, but instead they showed up unannounced. The guy came to fix a clogged kitchen sink, but didn't have a bucket or a pan to contain the drained water, so I had to give him one! Didn't have any kind of towel, so I've also had to provide one. Despite that, they left behind a mess.

When I called their main office to ask for a discount given their unannounced show up, the guy said I don't understand what you're talking about, and hanged up.

The guy who showed up unannounced ended up giving me $20 off the $180 bill--that's doesn't even replace the towel he ruined.

Similar to a previous review,  Magic Plumbing was responsible and courteous... Maybe not the cheapest, but it was a reasonable price. Miguel did save me a couple of hundred dollars though. Initially, the job was to repair a leaky out-dated faucet, which had to be replaced. He also had to go out and purchase a replacement part for an unexpected rusted, failing pipe. Including the repair work and having to go-out-and-return, he completed the job within an hour and a half.  ...would definitely use them again.

I was having several problems with my toilet so I called Magic Plumbing on Monday morning. They were able to have a plumber to my condo within 2 hours. I even received a text letting me know he was on his way. Adam was his name. After a quick inspection he gave me two options, to rebuild or replace. I decided to replace. Adam was able to schedule me for the next morning at 9am. He was punctual and had my new toilet installed within 15 minutes. Very professional and friendly. And I'm very happy with the new toilet.

They've pulled the same water heater scam as reported by Jemima H.'s review on 10/22/19!

What should have been a $300 (generous!) thermocouple and/or gas controller repair in a 6 YEAR-OLD water heater cost $2100 to REPLACE the water heater.

There was confusion about the cost (I thought it was $1200, already too expensive), but approved the job only because we needed hot water after two days without and a weekend was approaching. Otherwise, I would have gotten a second option FOR A $1200 JOB.  No options for less expensive hardware were offered.

I was never told it would actually be $2100 until the job was done. I specifically asked the technician who inspected the unit why the thermocouple couldn't be replaced because the pilot would not stay lit. He said the water heater was too old to fix.  NONSENSE!  

I was ripped-off and taken advantage of.  If I could give 0 stars, or -1, I would.

Can't wait to read their excuse, if they give one.

adam installed my water heater over a year ago - he did a great job, explained everything to me, tried to save me some $ where we could.  we thought there was an issue with the installation due to a real estate inspection so i called them to come back.  adam and jeremy  happily came back out to check it on it.   turns out it was secure and installed properly, but they put in some extra screws for good measure and wrote up a work order as verification.  no charge for all that great service.

Zayah was at our house on-time and quickly isolated and fixed the problem (pilot out) that plagued our water heater. A simple problem (although we were stumped), but handled with professionalism and speed. We would definitely use Magic Plumbing again.

Nice plumber but overall a very disappointing experience.  A little over $400 for 20 minutes of work.  And despite showing exactly what I was doing, when the quote was provided it was done at a very high level, and the plumber made no mention of the fact that he was going to do only a portion of the work.  He showed me the finished work and when I asked if he was going to finish the setup he said yes, you can do that now that I'm done.  Ultimately I was left to finish the job, which was disappointing because the plumber could have easily done the work in the 1 hour I paid for, and instead was happy to leave with extra time paid for but not used for my appointment.

To begin with these guys are not cheap but prompt and pros they are and in SF that's more than half the game. Thanks to being booked for immediate service, thanks for being on time, thanks to Adam who had history in my building and the kitchen sink plumbing design, thanks for Adam's free insight and tips and thanks for the professionalism - pipes pulled and drain properly snaked (twice). This could've been a real pain with loads of unnecessary delays and extra costs. Good plumbers are hard to find and I can safely recommend these guys.

I've used Magic Plumbing twice, thank goodness, for my Potrero Hill condo rental. First time they easily corrected a contractor's prior incompetent bath installation. The second time was even a better response and service from Magic. The contractor's improper drain linkage failed and had to be replaced.
Magic tried many solutions and eventually advised a solution that saved me from possibly tearing out the wall and saved me considerable amount of money. Kudos to *Ryan*
and the team that communicated with me daily.

I had a good experience with Magic Plumbing at my Cow Hollow building in SF today. I needed help with a leaking water heater (on a Sunday)! I called Magic around noon and secured a technician visit between 3-5pm. Fortunately they arrived around 1:00 and did a full water heater replacement. Dino was the tech and he was friendly, calm and efficient. Call Magic Plumbing. They helped me in a pinch.

My home's hot water heater gave up the ghost abruptly and completely after a remarkable 24 years of loyal service.  My apartment owning friend reommended a service that couldn't get to it for over a week, and after a day of freezing showers that was out of the question.  Magic Plumbing with Mike doing the work was perfect.  He came when we wanted--first thing on a Saturday morning and did a great job.  The price was fair given that it required some re-piping to move the unit against a wall to be up to the CA earthquake code.  He dropped by to take a look and give us an estimate after work prior to Sat.  It was what my knowledgeable friend said to expect.  Mike was a real gentleman who cleaned up after himself, took away the awful insulation from the old unit and explained everything to me as I was interested in being able to do this myself in the future.  I couldn't be more satisfied.  Great work, fair price, efficient and friendly.

Had a toilet leak and needed a new one. Every interaction with Magic Plumbing was timely and professional. Adam did a fantastic job with the inspection and later the installation, and Pablo from the office with the coordination and ordering the right Toto toilet (see my pic). OK so what I have heard is that there is a new owner.  In any case, I have had someone out several times to do work in my place -- all pretty good, though expensive.  Then the last time, they sent out someone completely unprofessional.  He was totally unstable and cursed the whole time.  What was worse is that he brought a big machine in to try to snake my bathtub drain and although I offered to help him with it, he refused.  When I went back into the bathroom, my tile floors were all scratched up and the paint chipped off the doorframe.  I was able to repaint the door but cannot repair the tile without ripping it all out and having it redone.  In the end, he couldn't snake the drain and left the bathroom a total mess.  When I called to complain, they sent someone out who was embarrassed by the damage his associate caused, but they didn't offer to repair anything, nor did they give a break on the cost.  It's too bad, but they don't seem to be able to keep good plumbers.

I've been using Magic Plumbing for 10 years now, and I'm always impressed by their customer service. From the people who answer their phones and schedule appointments to the plumbers themselves, I've found everyone to be personable, friendly, and very helpful.

One of their plumbers just came out this morning to re-hook up a pipe fitting that had slipped loose. It took the plumber about ten minutes to re-attach the pipe using existing parts, no new ones...AND HE DIDN'T CHARGE ME A CENT!  

This type of thing has happened on other occasions that I've asked them to come out. If they fix the problem with little effort, or if they look at the problem and tell me it needs a bigger fix than I'm prepared to pay for, I don't get charged! Really, their customer service is just great.

Love that they tell you when the technician is on the way, and a link to track their progress so you know exactly when they'll arrive. Mike from Magic came over to help stop a water leak and fix some other issues at our house.  He was quickly able to spot the source of the leak, which saved us significant time and money tearing out walls etc.  An excellent company that we very highly recommend--responsive, pleasant and they do very good work.

My original appointment was from 9-11 but they called that morning to say between 11-1. I called at 1pm and they said he would be here in 15 minutes. Called again at 1:30 and they said the guy took a lunch break and would be here by 1:45. He finally showed up at 2:30 and then took an hour and a half to replace a garbage disposal. My landlord is the one who hired them, so I'm not sure how much they charged him, but I told him not to hire them again.

Noticed my ceiling was become discolored and wet, also had some green spots suspicous for mold. I suspected a leak from my upstairs bathroom.

I contacted magic plumbing to send a technician to locate and fix the leak.

Spoke to Carl who was very friendly and responive,  he even accommodated my schedule by sending someone during the hours that were ideal to my schedule.

Joey arrived and immediately got to work. He quickly diagnosed the issue in less than 15 minutes. He was able to fix the leak which was related to my upstairs bathroom in less than 20 minutes. Joey was polite, honest, efficient, and helpful. He could have upcharged me for another reason but he was honest and did the right thing.

Ill reach out to magic plumbing again for future plumbing needs.

I've been using these guys for several years and have not had a bad experience with them.  Best of all I trust them to do the job. I actually now live in NY and use them for my home in SF. If my tenants have a plumbing issue or I need plumbing maintenance performed, these guys get the job done, on time and within the estimated price. Most recently I've been dealing with Pablo and Frank and they've kept the quality of work and service top notch. When's the last time you trusted someone to do good job when you were thousands of miles away?

Magic Plumbing was great, I only took away a star because they were scheduled for Sunday but had to move it to Monday (they did call to let me know).

Mike was very friendly and professional. My laundry room backed up and flooded and he came out with a snake (I think that's what it's called) and started at the laundry room and cleared it out past my driveway to the main line at the sidewalk. I ran water for about 5 minutes so he could see it moving from my place out to the mainline and the back up was cleared.

Mike came the next day with a camera, which he used to double check that the blockage was cleared. He showed me what was there on the screen - it was all cleared.

I'd recommend Magic Plumbing to friends.

Amazing service!  As seems to always happen, my plumbing emergencies happen the day before a three day weekend... in this case Memorial Day Weekened, when my hot water tank died completely.  Expert advice, guidance and education on the tankless water heaters quickly followed by rapid installation and then cleanup work.  Now I have space where the old tank used to sit, but also now I have endless hot water.  Thank you Phong, and thank you Paul for making it happen and getting me back to a livable home, and hot sho

New sewer line. this was a major, major job. Almost 30 feet of sewer line that connected to the city's mainline. Excellent service, scheduled it in perfectly. Finished the job in shorter timeframe then was allotted. Steve the foreman was the easiest person and most relaxed person I've ever dealt with. He answered all my questions, and after all the trenching, you couldn't even tell that they were there. Paul, the owner, had all the permits in place from the city. He was very easy to talk with, and very patient when explaining the job to me. The sidewalk was replaced, and looks perfect. I highly recommend Magic Plumbing to anyone who needs a new sewer line.

I interviewed three plumbing companies to replace the main sewer line under my house. This was a big job and had some complications. Magic Plumbing was by far the most conscientious in evaluating the situation and coming up with the best possible solutions. They came in with the most reasonable bid AND they took the time to explain in detail all the components of that bid.  I have worked with a lot of contractors over the years in maintaining my house. This company is excellent: it is highly experienced, knowledgeable, creative, detail-oriented, cost-conscious, and as clean as you can be on this kind of job. Also, they are serious problem solvers.  What could be better than that!  Everyone I have been in contact with at Magic Plumbing has been a top-notch professional.  I highly recommend this company, and I will only use Magic Plumbing from this point forward.

Dennis Perez from Magic Plumbing Heating & Cooling came out for a furnace inspection and was able to quickly and efficiently identify the issue. He quickly repaired the furnace and provided additional safety information regarding annual maintenance and carbon monoxide detectors. I'll definitely contact Magic Plumbing Heating & Cooling for future furnace maintenance and repairs.

$427 for 1 hour of work to replace sink u-trap pipe!!

Communication was great with app to track location of the plumber instead of waiting and wondering where they are.
I'm happy with the work was done.

The $427 bill is outrageous for 1 hour of work and less than $10 in parts (new u trap pipe).

My friend helped me out by meeting the plumber, otherwise there's no way I would have agreed to paying that much!!

Our furnace for 20+ yrs after 4 repairs over that time we decided it was time to replace after it died once again. We contacted Magic for an estimate and they gave me one right away over messages through yelp and a phone call and a visit to our home. The estimate over the phone was fairly close to the estimate on site which was higher since the new furnace had to cover our large home compared to the older one. Process took 2 business days.  Jay Gamble was the installer who came. Very professional work and very clean and a quick 2.5 hrs. The furnace they installed along with the thermostat is heating our home pretty efficiently it seems. Would recommend these guys for your HVAC and plumbing needs.

Don't do it.  They show up to do a job, then call to ask if there are other repairs they can do for a LOT of money.  On top of that, they left my place an absolute mess and used my bath towel (that thing felt good after a shower) to clean up the water on the ground.  And just left it there.  Lying on the ground, still wet.

Women be aware.  I did not feel safe with this person in my place.  He was unprofessional.  I almost got my weapon out to get him out of my place.  This place needs to train their male employees on how to treat women.  Tell your employees that it is not acceptable to touch your clients.  Never again.  I should have reported him to the police.

TOTAL SCAM PLUMBERS

we hired them to fix a simple U trap pipe, they replaced it and then the next time we used our garbage disposal, it was punctured.

and while they guy was here he kept asking to see our water heater, I bet they would have broken that too, just to make more business for themselves.

read the other reviews also, seems like they wrote many themselves b/c REAL customers like us have

They were responsible, fast (same day), courteous and knowledgeable.  Mike came out and fixed a cracked valve on a bathroom sink.  Not a complicated job but he did it very efficiently- knew what he was doing.  Maybe not the cheapest but it was a reasonable price for a fast job, which was done right.  I would definitely use them again.

These guys are fantastic!  They solved an ongoing, major plumbing problem that we have had for years.  Because we are the low spot on our block, anytime there would be a heavy rainstorm the water would pool up in our driveway and sidewalk and then run into our garage.  Both Paul the owner, and Phil his head guy, came out to look at our building and come up with a solution.  They designed and installed a storm drain that sits in the sidewalk directly in front of the garage door.  It works!
No more sandbags, no more flooding, no problems at all, even after all of the heavy rainstorms this past winter.  Phil did a fantastic job, coming by everyday during the installation to make sure everything was done right.  He was great to work with.   These guys have also done small jobs for us over the years and they have always done a great job.  They are professional, efficient, friendly and competitively priced. I would recommend them for any kind of plumbing job you need.

Our sidewalks were flagged by the city and the problem was a broken sewer main.  Ugh!  We diligently went through multiple bids.  Magic plumbing's bid process was the best.  The bidder Frank brought his own camera to inspect our line and was very articulate and forthright.  Unlike the other bidder, he mentioned that our downspout drain was not up to code and should be replaced at the same time---that could have been an ugly surprise later.   The foreman on our job was Steve, with 25 years experience in sewer replacement.  The company thoughtfully sent an email with his resume to introduce us to him before the job, a very nice touch.  Steve was wonderful.  He could explain everything---with building code number references.    He was very quiet with his advice for his crew Devin and Lucky, who listened carefully to everything he said and obviously respected him a lot.   We hoped to preserve an Arbutus tree we planted, and they went out of their way to save it.  Our sewer line connection is 9 feet down in loose sand.  It was a very tricky excavation and nothing went wrong, even though the gas line was in the way.  We are very confident and appreciative of all of their attention to detail.  The company's concrete contractor was a bit slow to respond to our job, so Pablo went to great effort to set up our job with another concrete contractor to get things done on time.  If you need your sewer line replaced, I can definitely recommend this company.  No negatives to report at all.

Bernardino is my hero! A foul smell and a significant amount of fur when I tried to unblock my tubs drain suggested something had managed to die there.
Bernardino persisted until he cleared the blockage and left the bathroom clean and smelling fresh again. Suggested remedial work to prevent the problem happening again. Not the cheapest around, but they came out within 2 hours of calling.

Our shower room/bathtub clogged up last night so we called Magic Plumbing in the morning. Their response was immediate and they arranged to come that evening.  Alberto was exactly on-time, and he was extremely friendly, thorough, and knowledgeable. He took care of our problem straight-away and even advised us on how to prevent future problems with our drains going forward.  Excellent service all the way. This review is long overdue. We had called magic plumbing two previous times and though they were really expensive, they got the job done (even though they had to apparently replace an entire toilet once because they couldn't reach a certain spot, even though the toilet was fairly new and working well)

We had to call them a third time for a leaky toilet in a different bathroom and all they had to do was replace a fill valve. We checked the cost of the exact fill valve they had on the invoice online and it was $18.99. The line item they had on their invoice for the same item was $439!!! Even including the labour cost, that is an insane margin!!
On top of the $439, they included another line item for a 'general plumbing inspection of visible fixtures' which was an additional $225!!! This was just 'part of the process', not something we had explicitly asked them to do. Our entire bill came up to be a whopping $650+ to replace a part that cost $18.99 online.
Do yourself a favour and check the cost of the items on a magic plumbing invoice to compare before paying it. Or best yet, avoid them altogether if you want to save your money.

*Edit* the part that was replaced is now leaking again in less than a year. So not only is the price more than 35X the cost of the part, the quality of the work is not upto par and will need to be redone within the year!

I was pricing a ProMax water heater online and saw a Google AdWords ad offering $50 For Your Old Heater With New Water Heater Installation.
I clicked to MagicWaterHeaters.com and realized I have seen their trucks around the city. Their website offered a $100 discount for scheduling now, so I called. I told the man who answered what model number I wanted and how much I could buy it for online. I asked if he could install it for about $200 more than that price. He asked me to hold and he would check. Alas, after 10 minutes and 10 seconds of holding (with no music or beeps), he did not return. I am patient, but there is a limit.

After being stood up by another company I called Magic Plumbing.  They showed up promptly when they said they would.  They guys were friendly & nice.  They cleared my clogged toilet.  Before doing the work, they gave me a price to clean it.  The priced seemed high, $240.  They tried to unplug it, but after only a few minutes, they said that they needed to do a different procedure which would cost $425.  It felt like a bait & switch.  They didn't spend much time trying to unplug it with the original process.  They used an auger to clear the entire line.  I don't know if this was necessary.  So the work was good, but very expensive.  For 45 minutes, the price was excessive.

James was prompt and pleasant. He first gave me a quote, then cleaned out a garbage disposal filled with foul smelling junk and discovered a large pit (avocado?) and many small pits (olive) and other material that never should have been put in the disposal.  He explained what he was doing, made sure everything worked and helped me avoid the added expense of replacing the garbage disposal. He cleaned up after the work was done.
If all Magic Plumber staff are as efficient and friendly as he was, I will definitely use Magic Plumber again. My highest recommendation.

They came out the same day to do the estimate and they had a competitive bid. I went with them because they cleared my line without charging me so they could diagnose where my offset was (plumber speak for when your sewer line is busted and leaking into the ground.

They started work withing a couple of days, finished before they said they would.

All in all a very positive experience.

Magic Plumbing has done two jobs on our fixer-upper: a trenchless sewer replacement and some bathroom work. I give them higher points for the big job. They were on time each day and kept the overall project more or less on schedule, handling every challenge professionally and with patience, cleaning up and generally being much more respectful than other contractors, and efficiently processing our permits, inspections and payments. Phil, who estimated and oversaw the job, is responsive and helpful. Steve led the crew on a day-to-day basis and quickly became one of my all-time favorite contractors (I've dealt with more than I can count). Nothing fazes that guy. When he was away one day and another crew leader stepped in, I really came to appreciate Steve's calm, no-nonsense, no-ego style. And maybe the highest compliments came from other contractors who admired Magic's work.
