Description
Our former master electrician had over 40 years experience, learning from his father who was also a master electrician, and he has passed that knowledge on to our employees. Our current master has over 30 years experience and has done the same. If we can't fix it, no one can. We have good, ethical people that do their best to show up, get it done right, take care of your property, and give you lasting value. We can do every electrical service: troubleshooting; installing switches/outlets; installing circuits; lighting (standard and LED); room additions; remodels; rewires; new construction; breakers; subpanels; main panels; surge protectors; and more. We specialize in both residential and commercial.
HISTORY
Established in 1982.
Butch Jackson, Founder: I started working for my dad's electrical company when I was a young teen. So you could say I have been doing it all my life. I have worked on movie sets, commercial buildings and residential. I have seen and done it all. I have built up a great group of people that I have working with me now and I feel that when you have a team of people that work together as a team you can do great things! Jackson Electric is something that I have built over time and it has a great reputation and amazing clients. I am continuing to expand adding to my team and adding new friends/clients to my list. I hope that if you are in need of an electrician you will give us a try, I know you will be glad you did! Sadly, our founder passed away in early 2015, but we still strive for this quality of friendship and service to all our staff and customers.

What you get when you use a handyman instead of an electrician: 1. low prices 2. a vent fan that shocks you because the grounding was done wrong 3. a botched attempt at hanging a ceiling fan.
What you get when you use Jackson Electric: 1. yes, you pay a little more 2. grounding fixed, 3 fan beautifully mounted and wired. 4. They also did a good job installing track lighting which required pulling wires and installing a dimmer.
Quality job all over. I'm happy paying for that.
We have used them several times for different issues. They were reliable and fairly priced.
I had Jackson repair my old meter which had burned up. They came the next day, took care of the emergency permit we needed and got it fixed in no time. They even fixed a poor and dangerous repair a previous hack electrician did while on the job. I wish I had called Jackson Electric to begin with. Highly recommended.
Don't know about their electric business, but I can tell you one of their employees is batsh!t crazy with road rage. After tailgating me, the loon tried to sideswipe me as I was exiting IH 35.
Took out my camera and got a pic of his license. I can't imagine how a company can tolerate such bad behavior when the company logo is all over the vehicle.

Don Gordon, owner of Jackson Electric, master electrician, is an ethical business man in a time when that's not easy to come by. His company has done work for me both in my home and at a rental place. Highly recommend Jackson Electric. They stand behind their work.
I used Jackson Electric on a new construction job I had about a year ago. I got several quotes from electricians in Austin and their price was in line or slightly below the others. They walked the property with me and asked what my needs were and gave some helpful recommendations as well. Everyone who worked on the property was knowledgeable and friendly.
But the great thing about Jackson Electric is that even after the job was complete they have continued to help me with any questions I have had. I needed to find some light bulb replacements and could not find the exact bulbs they used so Don met me at Home Depot one day to help me! I have also had a few questions on the weekend where I had to leave a message on the emergency line. Don has called me back quickly to address my issues.
I would highly recommend this company and I know I will continue to use them in the future for any electrical needs.

I love Jackson Electric. They have been out to my house several times for small projects. First, it was to wire 2 outlets on the same switch. Next, they hung 2 chandeliers from my 20 ft ceilings. Most recently, they came in to jump some wire from one side of my kitchen to the other for above/under cabinet lighting and also wired up and outside flood light.
Everything they have come to my house, they have been in time and have done really great work. I would recommend them to anyone, and will continue to use Jackson Electric for my home.
Sadly, I don't recall the name of the super nice guy who came to fix the spaghetti mess of wires I had floating around. But, Mr. Nameless was super. :)
On Time ? Yup
Explained everything ? Yup
Able to trouble-shoot and decipher the mess I had ? Yup
Polite, kind, helpful ? Yup
Problem solved? Yup
Project: Had some 1/2 done wiring in the garage that I needed to be finished. I was probably even a bit obnoxious because I kept changing my mind about what lines I wanted to handle what voltage. Totally patient as we figured it out. Excellent. :)

Super nice people. I called about some dead outlets. We setup a time but the lady gave us a couple of things to try just in case it was a easy fix. One of those things worked and problem solved. They didn't even need to come out.
Connor and Chris were absolutely fantastic and a pleasure working with! They did a thorough inspection of our house to ensure it is safe since we live in an older house. As they were inspecting, Connor kept me updated and explained things as they found them. Also, both were very respectful and even took extra measures to remove their shoes when coming inside to prevent getting mud on our carpets and cleaned up after themselves if some insulation or paint chipped and went onto the floor. Angie, in the office, has been a pleasure working with from the very beginning, too! She has, at the very least, some electrical knowledge and that is great to see and reassuring for the customer; more office staff in the trades need to take a lesson and do the same! When the office has knowledge of the field, there is a greater confidence the customer will have in the company. If you're in need of an electrician, I highly recommend Jackson Electric! They are the only company we will use for our house! :)

These guys were great. I had what some might probably consider a pretty simple electrical job for them (adding an outlet). But when it comes to electrical or plumbing work, I usually leave it to the experts. I figure cleaning up water damage and fire damage are much more expensive projects than paying an expert to install plumbing and electrical items.
The electrician showed up on time, quoted a fair price and made sure I had the offer through Yelp because it was such a straightforward job and he didn't want to overcharge me. The work was completed the next day, quickly and without any issue.
Overall, highly recommended if you're like me and handy is not a word used to describe you.
Great job once again!!!
We had used this company once before about 1 year ago and Brandon did such an outstanding job adding a light fixture in our kitchen that when our upstairs bathroom light switches failed we immediately called Jackson Electric!
This time Kevin helped us in a quick and professional manner.
We are extremely happy with the service once again and would definitely recommend them for any electrical needs!!!
Thanks guys, you shed some much needed life back into our home! ;)

Jackson Electric bid a project I had been putting off for awhile, and I am glad I did! The price was super reasonable and fit my budget. Butch and Kevin helped come up with the perfect solution to a difficult problem in getting pendant lighting in my kitchen. Kevin was able to knock it out in a single day and all the work completed looks great! Will post a picture to the yelp page!
Kevin and Jeff did a great job! We had a 220 V outlet for our dryer which was out and we never used. Turns out, it was disconnected at the breaker box and the wires were not hooked up. They debugged the issue with a breeze, and took time to chat about a few other things they spotted along the way. They finished everything in under an hour and I was very happy with the price and labor. Highly recommended and will definitely use them again!

Stay away from these guys!! They'll rip you off. Yes they might get the job done as other reviews have stated but you'll pay triple what another reputable company will charge. I had a very bad experience with them with Don in particular. He said he'd come out and give me a free quote for some electrical work. After looking at what needed to be done, he told me I owed him $200 for a diagnostic fee which I disputed. Not once did he ever mention or make me aware that anything he was doing would get billed. His quote of over $7500 was almost 3 times the cost of other companies that took a look to do the 2 day job. I hired a master electrician on a recommendation from a friend to do the work. When Don called and asked when I wanted him to start the work, I politely told him I hired someone else and thanks for his time. At that point he called the city of Austin to report my house for faulty work EVEN BEFORE ANY WORK WAS DONE! This caused me massive headaches as the city inspector made me get a 3rd party electrical inspector to verify all the work was done correctly which it was. Calling the city to falsely report my house because he was mad that I didn't let him rip me off is extremely immature. He now won't answer my calls to explain his actions. Stay away from these guys!!!!
I had an electrical issue that I had already had another company look at but they could not figure it out. I called Jackson Electric late in the afternoon and they were able to come out the next morning. Kevin found the problem and in less than an hour my lights were back on. The service was great and the price was reasonable.

Mark came out and did a great job for us. He was very polite and very professional.
We had several jobs for him to do and he completed all of them in a timely manner and the cost was very reasonable. We would definitely use them again.

Not a great experience. I bought a Angies List coupon for two hours of electrical work. All I needed was a simple switch replaced which I knew wouldn't take long. I couldn't come up with more projects to decided on dimmer switched being put in the bedrooms. Mark arrive and replaced the switch. He then went to go install the dimmer switch but told me I have the wrong one and it wouldn't work. When he tried to take the old switch off he said that someone needed to go thru all the wiring in the house. That it all needed to be checked. Since he wasnt doing the fans now I asked if this is something he could do. He ignored me and went to go check my fire extinguishers.
When I returned the dimmer switch to Home Depot the guy basically said that he didn't understand why it couldn't be done.
He replaced a light in my closet and installed a bulb in my bathroom. I still had a lot of time and found yet another dimmer that I asked him to install in my kitchen. He did that and then told me I needed different light bulbs. Fine - all done - an hour and fifteen minutes worth of work..
After I went to use the stitch that he originally game to do it was flipped around. So OFF was ON and ON was OFF. The plate read as NO and FFO. I thought I could deal with this but decided to call the company back. The lady who answered the phone was really nice but said she was not happy and would have him come back to fix it. He came the next day to fix in. In the mean time I had gone to buy dimmer lights and they really didn't dim at all. When I asked him about it he told me that I needed special bulbs.. I showed him the packaging of the bulbs and then he said that I needed a different dimmer. I said I had one and asked if he would install it. He said he would have to charge me. OK, I'm not one trying to get a free ride but he wasn't here the first time for the full two hours AND he wouldn't do the wire checking that I really needed so that didn't sit well with me. I said I was going to call the company. He then said - go ahead - but I'm outta here. He left without anything being fixed. Super unprofessional.
I called and left a message and the owner called me back within a reasonable time frame. WE talked. I explained the entire situation and he seems nice and ready to resolve the problem. He said he would call Mark and have someone call me back. The original date that Mark came out was 7/17. I finally decided they were NOT going to call back so called them on 8/2. The lady who answered said she was unaware that she was suppose to call. I then asked her to have the Owner call me back. He didn't. She called to try to set up an appointment but at this point I am done with this company. I got the problem fixed.
Just very unprofessional !!!!
Our rebuilt electric service dated in part from the construction of the house, well over 80 years ago. Don, along with his ace team, began work on the emergency right away, setting matters right, keeping us informed along the way, and leaving all neat as a pin afterwards. Don, in addition to being a master electrician, is a master expediter and does not allow the permit people to lag in moving matters along. We were very pleased and relieved and would recommend Don and his team without reservation.
Rearranged my whole day to be home at the time Jackson Electric said they had available. WAITED TWO HOURS and THEY DID NOT SHOW UP, CALL OR ANSWER THEIR PHONE.. There are too many electricians out there to go through this kind of aggravation again. I would not recommend them.
We were having issues with one of our ceiling fans, and being electrical, wanted to get it looked at right away. I called numerous companies, but Jackson Electric where the only ones willing to fit us in the same day. Berto called to let me know he was on his way and upon arriving immediately started. He listened to my concerns on what we thought was causing the problem ( remote control box inside the fan), but before removing the housing for the remote control, he checked all the bulbs to make sure it wasn't that. After removing the housing, he let the fan/light run to ensure that the issue wouldn't repeat itself. I feel that he was committed to resolving the issue, not just to get in and get out. Even though it turned out to be a quick fix, he didn't put any less time or effort into the job. I am very satisfied with the company as a whole, and will not only use them again( if needed) but I have no problem recommending them to anyone needing an electrician. Thanks Berto & Jackson Electric!

This is the second time I've used Jackson Electric - great guys, turn up on time, easy to schedule with, respectful of your house. I had a really annoying fixture to change out 18 feet up in a confined space and they handled it with ease. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
