Great company - very friendly all around makes them feel like the local company they are. Both front office and head electrician, Marc were a joy to work with. I needed their help on an involved project and Marc did wonderful work. The price was fair as well. I've subsequently ran into a few minor issues with fussy arc fault breakers and this company has been there each and every time to help me out.

I wholeheartedly recommend HMB Electric and won't use anyone else moving forward.

Where have the days of customer service gone?  The lady behind the counter was too busy talking to her friend who was in the store and could really care less that I was making a purchase.  No eye contact, no did you find everything ok, no thank you come again.  I work too hard to spend my money in a place like this.

I enjoy making  the Half Moon Bay Electric store in Half Moon Bay on Main Street a regular stop when I go to Half Moon Bay because it is a really cute store with many fixtures from which to choose.  I've needed parts, which are readily available there if you are handy, and if not, Kristy, the owner (go family owned businesses!) can have your portable fixture expertly repaired in the shop, or their licensed electrician, Mark, with many years of experience pertaining to all things electrical can come out to address any on site electrical needs you have.  It is not only a one stop shop, but a tastefully decorated store which changes with each season, including the Pumpkin Festival in the fall with many cute little gift items for your convenience.  I highly recommend this well known and well established business.

We were having an issue with a switch in our bathroom and did not know why lights were not working.   Finally called HMB Electric, and Kristy, over the phone, was able to help us do the simple fix needed!   Amazing customer service and kind, patient demeanor.   It is a super cute shop with many practical and eclectic items.   So happy to have this great shop in Half Moon Bay!

I had used Half Moon Bay Electric may years ago to install a plug in my backyard for a hot tub. Bill came out to take care of the call. What a great guy! We joked and laughed the whole time! Charge was very reasonable.
So, when I had an old lamp that I thought I could rewire... (boy, was I wrong) and I had already pulled the old wire. Turns out it had tubing inside the stem that kept catching my new wire... needless to say, I became frustrated. So I took it in to Kristy at their shop on Main St. She told me it wouldn't be a problem and had it fixed for me later that afternoon. It works great! I'm very pleased.
I also wanted to mention how beautiful the shop was. So many amazing lamps and accessories. I always love how dressed up the window displays are, especially during the holiday season! Definite flair!
While I was there, I discussed new lighting for my kitchen. I told Kristy what styles I was interested in... she showed me a couple in the shop and then proceeded to show me many options and styles, she knew those catalogs like the back of her hand.  I was truely impressed! She explained pro and cons of certain styles. It was an extremely educational experience!  
I would truely recommend going to Kristy if you want to speak with someone with loads knowledge.

Our gallery building's bathroom lights were out & needed replacing, so Mark of Half Moon Bay Electric installed two new bright ceiling fixtures in less than an hour! Great turnaround & service; now we're no longer ..in the dark!

We were looking for a lamp for our renovated library and stopped in.  Half Moon Bay Electric Co. had a vintage floor lamp from the 1930s-40s that was perfect, and different than any we had seen in other shops or online.  We were able to select from a range of custom-made shades, and other upgrades were also offered.  The price was excellent and the service superb.  If you are in the area, stop in and look.  And -- if you don't see exactly what you are looking for, ask.  HMB Electric gets our top recommendation.

HMB is an honest contractor. He gave me the honest assessment and showed my real options. He'll be the first contractor I call next time!

They finally called back but didn't fix my light. Told me I needed a new light bulb. I was not sure how to argue with the expert but the fixture was crackling and the light dim and I was pretty sure that was not the problem. After a couple weeks of the new bulb it's doing the same thing. $100 for 15 minutes. Light does not work. I am certain a real electrician could repair the fixture but I don't think the person who came out wanted to be bothered. Sigh.

Had an occupancy sensor go out on a 3-way switch.  No big deal, just replace it.  HAH!  Had to use a different brand, the wiring was totally different.  Being a complete moron when it comes to 3-ways (switches, people), I quickly found myself in a quagmire....by the time I was done, I'd shocked my arm twice and nothing worked.

I finally gave in and called HMB Electric in downtown HMB.  I knew that they had a quaint little store, but they were also listed on yelp under Electricians, so what the heck.

I figured, based on past electrician experience, that maybe I could get someone out in the next week or so.  NOT the case.  At first I was told that someone could come out the next day...this alone surprised me....less than 24 hours?  Wow....I asked about a general timeframe, and after putting me on hold, she came back on and said how about 20 minutes from now?  WTH?  WOW!!!

The owner actually came out...guy named Bill (great name, that).  He spent a bit of time tinkering, and came to the realization that when we built our house, the electrician screwed things up on this switch (which made me feel SLIGHTLY less moronic).  He got everything working correctly (including the other switch on the circuit....I screwed that up long ago).  The guy is a frickin' genius.  

Can't recommend HMB Electric enough.  AMAZING service, and gets things right.  A huge thumbs up!

I needed help fixing my kitchen track lighting and called Half Moon Bay Electric. Mark came to my home the same day and fixed it. He was efficient, neat and very nice. The cost was also reasonable. I have  had the opportunity to have a couple of favorite old lamps rewired by Kristy at the shop, she was very helpful and got the job done quickly. While in the shop I purchased new lamps for my bedroom. I've since visited often and purchased several gifts there. I love this store and highly recommend it for Electrician Services, Lamp repairs and gift purchases all year round! Thank you, excellent service is hard to find, so glad I found it at Half Moon Bay Electric!

This is a really cool store! It's a lot bigger inside than you'd expect - turn a corner and there's yet another room. Tons of rad light fixtures, lamps, light bulbs, lamp parts....and beer-making supplies. Uhmm yeah!

Someday when I can afford it, I'm buying a shitload of those glass jellyfish lamps.

Great place! Huge variety of beautiful lamps--colorful and imaginative. Fast and friendly service--we've brought many lamps there for repair,  always quick turnaround, reasonable prices. And really nice people.

First of all, we tried using Home Depot and their Red Beacon service to find local contractors for over a year, and we couldn't get anyone to install a chandelier over our dining room table. We have 20' ceilings and every electrician we talked to didn't have a tall enough ladder. Anyway, a total waste of time.  Finally we happen to pass by Half Moon Bay Electric while walking the dog and talked to Kristy.  She listened and after describing our problem, she assured us it wouldn't be a problem. So we bought our fixture and her husband (Mark) and son installed it within a couple days.  Easy peasy.  And in the end, I think we paid less than had we used one of Home Depot's local contractors. I try to promote local businesses whenever I can, but they have to earn my business. I can't say enough good things about this place.

Family run shop been around more thank 50 years! Any electrical problem/question/need you have give them a call. If your lucky you'll get a same day appointment :)

Love this little place! Little/big nonetheless, super cool place. Not completely what you would expect but worth stopping in.

My beautiful bride and I have been there a few times and continue to find this place as one of our favorite gift stops.

Anyone who lives in Half Moon Bay or along the coast, HAS to try this place!  Response time was less than an  hour.  Mark fixed what I thought was a complicated circuit problem with just a few new switches.  He's fast, polite and knows his stuff.  Doesn't get better than this for home repairs!!!  And since he's local, there's no $50 charge just to get here!

I used Kirk from Half Moon Bay Electric for all of my and my clients electrical needs.  I just had him install a super quiet fan in my master bath (wow what a huge difference it makes to my morning) and dimmers for alot of my overhead lights (yet again - why did I wait so long) He is friendly and has resolved issues that other electricians could not figure out - and he is reasonably priced.  The only reason he gets a 4 star is that some times he takes a bit of a long time to get out to my clients houses... but we do live on the Coast so I can sometimes deal with it.

I visited this fun little shop to look for Half Moon Bay Art Glass, as their website directed me here.  It's a fun quaint little shop but there wasn't as many glass pieces available as I thought there would be.  When I went they had pumpkins, necklaces, ornamental bugs, & decorative little swizzle sticks you would hang outside to blow in the breeze.  I did buy a cute decorative bird, but it was made in China...

about a week ago I called them and talked with Kristy , she was very nice and gave me lots of info regarding my problem and we set up an appointment for the next day , that was nice and quick ! . Then she told me her Husband Mark would call me before  coming over he did Mark is very friendly and explains everything to you . They took care of the problem were neat and polite , reasonably priced and most of all I love those small family type business's where honest people treat you with respect and care about making new customers , I would recommend them .... ELECTRICAL WORK:
Kirk has done all my electrical work since I moved to HMB four years ago.  And I will continue to call him.  He works very quickly, does a great job, charges reasonable rates, and always leaves everything clean.  I would highly recommend him.

FIXTURES AND SHOPPING:
I purchased my exterior light fixtures from Kristy, through a special order.  She is very knowledgeable and she advised me on the type of fixture I should get, considering our very humid climate on the Coastside.  (The previous owner's lights disintegrated when I tried to change the light bulbs.)  The new lights are perfect in every way--high quality, durable, beautiful, and bright.  They make my house look great!  I would highly recommend this store for your lighting needs.
I also requested Kristy's assistance in finding a replacement fixture for a low-voltage lighting system in my kitchen (installed by the previous owner).  I did not have much hope because it was just a replacement part, for a system that was at least seven years old.  But Kristy was able to obtain one for me, and we are now very happy to have all fixtures working!
In addtion to lighting, they have other accessories for the home.  Just take a peek in their window!
