Had a bathroom leak that required immediate attention and ended up calling Alfa Plumbing because they're nearby. Luckily, Jorge said he'd be able to come by soon for a free estimate. He was on time (a little early, actually!), polite and friendly, ready to go. At the scene he worked quickly to assess the problem and was exceedingly patient with explaining all of my various options, their solutions, and how much each of them would cost, including projections on potential future potential scenarios down the line. In the end I needed a full toilet replacement, the entire process of which was taken care of just as cleanly as the estimate. Thumbs up for a painless plumbing experience.

After having two companies that were referred by home depot's referral service not show up for doing an estimate- I had to take vacation time to be at my house-I was reluctant to call any company that sends out an estimator who is only that and not the person actually doing the repair. There seems to be an accountability and ownership issue with these bigger companies with their fleet of vans and ultra fancy websites. So,I did a google search for local plumbers and found Alfa, then yelped him and was impressed with all the five star reviews. Well, Jorge returned my call within a few minutes of me calling him, he showed up as promised for the estimate and explained everything that was going on with my plumbing and answered all my questions. He did the work himself, not someone else and that would have happened with a bigger company, and he did it ahead of the time promised, within his estimate, and gave me prompt paperwork at the end.
I think he deserves a good shout-out and all the five stars he has received on yelp.

I texted Jorge at 3pm on a Thursday to ask about installing a hot water spigot to the outside of my house. He came the next day and was really friendly and great to work with. He did a great job and gave me an unbeatable price. I'll be calling him for all of my future plumbing projects and highly recommend at least getting a quote from him.

Thank goodness for Jorge! I discovered a major link under my kitchen sink right before heading off to work in the morning, called several plumbers and Jorge was the ONLY one who called back within 15 minutes. He offered to come out later in the day and he even offered to call and text me when he was on his way...and he did. He arrived on time, was beyond professional and courteous. Everything was repaired within an hour and a half and his rates are reasonable. As well, he is an all around friendly, sweet guy. I am grateful that I have now found a plumber whom I can trust. We have used Alfa Plumbing once a few years ago for a major piping project. So last week, when we found a leak from our hot water tank, we immediately called Jorge. Although he was busy with a few projects, he still made time to come check on the leak right away.

Our tank needed to be replaced so Jorge very quickly called his supplier and gave us an estimate that night itself. His estimate was reasonable and fair (we also had other competitive quotes). We decided to go with Alfa even though other plumbers had offered us extra warranties because we liked his work from the first project. It was a Friday when we confirmed, he and his team were at our place first thing on Monday morning with a new tank!

We're so glad we made the decision to hire Jorge again as he provided us with timely, neat, high quality and impeccable service and workmanship. Just looking at the new tank, new pipes and the entire installation, tells us that he took great pride to ensure the installation was done meticulously and with utmost care.

On top of that, it appears that we needed an expansion tank to regulate the water pressure and protect the new tank. Jorge just took care of it Most importantly, everything was working well after the tank switch! If we ever have plumbing needs again, Alfa will be on speed dial!

I've been meaning to write a review for Alfa and Jorge for a number of years -- and after my recent experience I want to give him a strong positive recommendation. Over the years he has fixed leaks and replaced a toilet in our home, so when my kitchen faucet came loose I called Jorge. He responded almost immediately and asked if it was an emergency, and I said not really, but he arrived as quickly as he could and then got right to work.

He took apart the faucet, said he could replace it but suggested I try to replace a worn out part and see if that fixed things. I did -- and it did the trick. And Jorge didn't charge me for sharing his expertise.

For jobs large or small, I have nothing but praise and respect for Jorge. Thank you.

I had a remarkably good experience with Jorge today. We have a detached studio with a bathroom. I recently installed a toilet by myself, and hadn't been quite sure I got it set right. Over the past few weeks, I'd been noticing a sewer gas smell, and was worried the toilet might be the culprit. I called Jorge this morning, and he said he'd come over between noon and 2 pm. Sure enough, he arrived at 12:15, and quickly diagnosed the likely source of the smell as the dry trap in the shower, not the toilet itself. I offered to pay for his time, but Jorge kindly declined. So, even though no actual plumbing got done, I am super-impressed with Jorge's professionalism, knowledge and helpfulness.

Was responsive over text and gave a reasonable estimate. Arrived early on short notice, was polite and professional. Did the job quickly but did a couple of extra steps to make it easier to fix next time if necessary, no charge. Taught me how to fix it myself next time so I can save a few bucks.

I called on Alfa after I tried (and failed) to install a Toto bidet. The toilet was just a super challenging setup. Jorge and his team were excellent to work with and kept at it even after it seemed like the project was a bust. In fact, a second van came with the owner (Jorge) and the team of two worked through it together, troubleshooting and fixing issues as they arose. They were really cool about the hole thing and refused a higher payment at the end. So far, super impressed with all I've seen from these guys with everything from communication responsiveness to cleanup at the end.

I can't give Alfa high enough appreciation and compliments for the quality of their work; and, most importantly, their responsiveness and service. I have owned many homes over the years in different parts of the country and have never experienced this level of responsiveness and service combined with quality. Alfa has done many planned and emergency projects for us.

Most recently we had a leaking kitchen faucet which was super hard to diagnose and ultimately required a new faucet from the manufacturer. Alfa responded immediately to visit and try to solve the problem combined with giving us instant advice by texting on what we needed from the manufacturer.

Alfa just keeps vastly exceeding what I thought was possible with a plumbing team every time I work with them.

Jorge just came out and unclogged our toilet. He answered his phone promptly and came over when he said he would. He quickly fixed the problem but then took the time to show me how to correctly use the plunger and a toilet snake.

Jorge was professional, friendly, helpful and responsive. I would not hesitate to use him again.

Jorge just installed a Toto toilet; I saw what looked like a leak from the 1975 one, which he determined was caused by the installer of the new floor a year ago, who did not properly stack it to make up for the difference between the heights of linoleum and tile. Jorge spent a lot of time on email patiently answering my questions. He recommend this toilet (I have no interest in searching for toilets), installed it quickly and efficiently and then pointed out I could get a $50 rebate from EBMUD because of less water use, even showing me the site. I did not comparison shop but the price seemed fair.

He is one of many immigrants to California who keeps this state so vibrant culturally and economically. I would not normally mention this - but as a former prof I could not help but notice that his job invoice, detailing exactly what he did, was written in perfect English! (I appreciate having such records.) Native-born Americans seldom write perfectly. This is one smart guy.

WOW! All I can say is that I wish there were more people like Jorge in the world. It would be a better place. He's through, considerate, communicative, and knows what he is doing. And a bit playful on top of all of that. He worked super hard and installed my tankless water heater in about 3 hours, and charged me less than he quoted me.

We had a great experience with Alfa plumbing. We had some banging in our pipes when the shower was on. Another plumber came by and wanted $1k to strap the pipes and check the water pressure.

Alfa came by and told me that the problem was with the shower cartridge. I ordered a new one from Amazon for $40 and Jorge was generous enough not to charge for the estimate. Glad to save lots of money to solve a problem and I hope to use Alfa in the future!

Jorge made time to come by to check out our broken sump pump. It had been running non stop. After some poking around, he made a quick fix. Free of charge but gave us recommendations on what to look out for and whether we need to replace it. Service can't be beat. And if we do need to replace it, you can bet who we will be calling.

Jorge responded to my text regarding a plugged sink in five minutes. He was able to arrive at my home in 45 minutes. A half hour later the sink was draining perfectly. He even showed me what I should do we're the problem to reoccur. Great service, great rates. Needless to say he is our new plumber!

Seriously. As good as it gets. Our sump pump exploded and soaked the basement. Even though Jorge had a full day of jobs already lined up, he rushed over, and had even picked up a new sump pump on his way over! He was honest, explained all the work and had awesome advice. He fixed our sump pump in no time and even fixed a pesky toilet problem that had been puzzling us for 10 months. Superman. Highly recommend.

Jorge is a stand-up guy and knows his business. I had a flooded crawl space pseudo basement and no hot water. He came within hours of my calling, drained the area, tried to save my old sump pump but I replaced it with a new one, and restarted/tested my water heater which was doused by the flooding (thankfully wasn't damaged). And he also noticed the bathtub leak from under the house that we were aware of but gave us more detail on what the problem was, and gave us some advice as well as references. All the while, he was professional, courteous while personable, efficient, and open. He's my new guy now.

Alfa plumbing does GREAT plumbing work, we are so happy with Jorge and his team. Jorge communicates and reply my message in a very efficient way. Our kitchen faucet had been getting worse and worse over the past months and suddenly there was no warm water at all. Called 10 plumbers who were all booked until end of September or didn't pick up the phone before begin referred to Jorge Alvarado by Everest Plumbers (Thanks, Everest!). He returned my call quickly, came by within 45 minutes, checked the situation and gave an estimate. He explained steps and discussed options with me along the way. He fixed the warm water problem problem and took a look at our water heater too. Jorge is friendly and communicative, did a great job plus left the kitchen very clean. I recommend him highly and will definitely call him when we need a plumber a gain.

I'm pleased to provide yet another 5-star review for Alfa Plumbing. We first met Jorge in November 2015 when our very old water heater exploded on Thanksgiving Day. In a timely fashion, he furnished and installed a new high quality water heater with efficiency, skill, charm, and at a reasonable rate. A couple of years later, we had a phone conversation with him that resulted in us fixing a toilet problem ourselves, free of charge. And finally, Jorge came through again yesterday when he and his crew completed a tricky washing machine installation, again with efficiency, skill, charm, and at a reasonable rate. In this day and age, it's a relief to know that there are still trustworthy, caring, and knowledgeable professionals like Jorge out there.

First off I want to thank the other Yelpers for taking the time to write their reviews for Alfa Plumbing, since I probably wouldn't have found them otherwise. Now it's my turn...

I had a very unsightly surprise rising up in the shower pan of our basement bathroom yesterday morning. I panicked as this looked like a very bad warning sign of mega $$$ that would need to be spent immediately. After searching Yelp reviews I decided to call Alfa, and fortunately Jorge answered right away. They were able to fit me in on the way to another job and gave me a 2 hour window, which they showed up for right on time. They actually arrived before me, and Jorge was waiting with an assessment of what the problem and possible solutions could be, and gave me an estimate on pricing for all scenarios up front. He quickly found the problem, and was thankfully able to fix it on the spot with the least expensive and intrusive scenario. He showed me the camera images and gave me an explanation of the underlying problems, advising me to start getting estimates to change the main sewer pipe within the next year (not a surprise given the age of our home and previous advice from a problem some 15 years ago).

I could tell his workmanship and advice were genuine, and I really appreciated his promptness and honesty. I will definitely call on Alfa Plumbing again for any future plumbing needs, and will recommend them to all my friends and family.

Jorge from Alfa has been great.
We've called Alfa twice to deal with bathroom sink backups that have bothered us here at my duplex home. As the sinks, back to back on the adjoining wall, are connected a bit more than they might be otherwise, this stuff can be complicated, but Jorge took care of it quickly and reasonably.
On the latest call, I had tried Green Gobbler (an ethoxylated alcohol drain de-clogger) on the clogs, seemingly to no effect. For about 36 hours, there was no perceptible drainage, and smelly, brackish fluid had filled my sink until I bailed and sponged it out of the basin. It was another 36 hours or so 'til he could come by, and in that time, unknown to me, the de-clogger had done it's job, and in not checking otherwise, I had brought him out for nothing. I'm sure that can be frustrating to any contracting professional, but Jorge was very gracious about it. I now know to give a de-clogger like that much more time to work than directed, and to check for progress before I call Jorge again.
I highly recommend Alfa Plumbing.

Jorge is the ONLY plumber I will use. We've called him several times to fix leaks on our 100 year old house as well as install an automatic shutoff valve on our gas meter.
Jorge is honest, which is the most important thing you want from someone working on your house. He's given us great advice about installing equipment in our house and I trust him 100%. His prices are very reasonable and he's just an all around nice guy. I'm so glad I met Jorge. Best plumber ever!

I'd give them 10 stars because 5 is not enough. I've dealt with Jorge and Alfa Plumbing three times now and he's the only plumber I will ever call. I learn so much from him and his advice that I'd happily pay him just to teach me to do things myself. But most plumbing jobs are beyond my capacity so I am more than happy to pay him. The man is a gem. Ten stars, seriously!

Jorje is the world's most fantastic plumber. He cleared our drain on New Year's day when no other plumber was available. Knowledgeable, efficient, proficient, great explainer, and overall great guy, we feel so lucky to have found him. He also redid our sewer lateral this year which I recommend highly.

Jorje also reinstalled my neighbor's toilet on our recommendation and she gushed about him for weeks on what a fabulous job he did.

We had Alfa plumbing come out to trace a tricky leak in our walls. Jorge responded to our request extremely quickly and was able to set an appointment for the next day in the morning. Job ended up requiring a lot of troubleshooting to locate the source of the leak and Jorge and his helper were diligent and committed to getting the job done. Very fair for the amount of time they were onsite tracing and fixing the leak, and will be my go-to now for future jobs!

Awoke to an inch of water in the downstairs bathroom. Turning off sink and toilet water source achieved no results so turned off water to the house and called Alfa. I contacted Jorge at 7 a.m. and he was at our house by 8:15. He quickly assessed the situation and fixed the leak and spared us the choice of further inches or no water. Heavy rains flooded the basement. When the pump in the basement didn't work, the basement flooded and knocked out the water heater. I called many plumbers, but since it was the weekend, Jorge was one of the few that called me back immediately. Since his schedule was booked, he kindly gave me numerous tips on how to get the pump working. Amazing person who really puts service first.

We were required to replace the sewer lateral for our place in Albany within a year of buying the property and as time drew near we gathered quotes from 3 different services. We like to work with local companies and feel very fortunate that Jorge was able to work with us from Alfa. Jorge gave us a very reasonable initial estimate that ended up being right on target with the work that was done. He explained the steps they would take, got the work done in one day, with a short follow up later to meet with the city inspector. He helped with the paperwork required by the city. He definitely earned our trust and respect through his professional and personable manner. Later, when we had an leaky pipe issue with our washer/dryer, we were so glad that he was available to work with us again. Couldn't be happier with Jorge!

Based on all the positive reviews, I called Jorge. But, it was Friday late afternoon around 5:30, so I wasn't hopeful about finding a plumber. I had just moved in that very day and suddenly the toilet would not stop running. Loudly and constantly. Lucky for me, he was very close by and said he would stop on his way home. Five minutes later he was here and five minutes after that the toilet was fixed. A little piece of sponge had gotten lodged under the flapper. He was so nice, he didn't even charge me!

My one handle faucet was leaking water underneath the cabinet and it was getting worse. After calling four other plumbers from recommendations and Yelp reviews who were too busy, I called Jorge. We have been customers of Alpha Plumbing for well over 15years...I think that in itself speaks volume. My Mother has some pretty horrendous plumbing experiences over the years and learned early on that if you didn't have long $$$$$$$$ most likely you would not be getting a quality job done.
From the time we were referred to Alpha Plumbing we have been treated with respect, fairness, given clarity, and much understanding. I can not think of a time where we have called and didn't receive a response either by phone or text to address the current issue. We recently had a issue with our toilet.. and as everyone knows .. we are in the middle of a pandemic... truly thought since ours wasn't a super emergency the likelihood of us being seen the same day was probably unlikely...
Mr. Jorge(the owner) messaged me that Ivan would be able to come later that afternoon..here's the kicker .. I didn't get the message.. for which Mr. Jorge tried 3times..then proceeded to leave a voicemail..and follow up with two calls... unheard of right???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say contact was finally made and Ivan and Ephriam came..and did a BEAUTIFUL JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could give Alpha Plumbing more than 5 stars... in my book they literally deserve 1000 star's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jorge is the bomb!

I have a toilet that hasn't been filling properly for months. And, wait for it...a kitchen faucet with no hot water for three years. I texted him, and he responded immediately. He worked with my schedule, and fit me in the same day. He arrived on time. Diagnosed the problem (which was only the toilet at the time) immediately. I asked if he would take a look at my sink, and he wound up having not only the skill and materials, but also the time to do both today. In less than an hour.

He is professional, well priced and funny. I feel like I'm living in a new house. Both toilet and sink work perfectly.

Jorge will be my go to for plumbing issues for ever!

AWESOME! Plumbing under bathroom sink sprung a major leak. Called Jorge (after reading reviews here on yelp), and he was here in less than an hour. An hour later, he'd replaced the plumbing under the sink! Not only was it great work and it looks awesome, but he charged half of what I was expecting to pay! (And he even snaked out the pipes in the wall for free).
He's just starting his own business, so not only is it great to help an independent business, but one that does fantasic work, fast, and at great prices!!! Thank you, Jorge!!

We called Jorge from Alfa Plumbing on the recommendation of our neighbor, after we discovered a huge leak from our water meter with water gushing out on a Sunday morning. EBMUD came out immediately only to let us know it was our problem, not theirs. Jorge came within an hour of calling him, quickly diagnosed the problem, explained how much the cost would be, and made recommendations that were really helpful. The price was more than fair, and his work was excellent. We then asked him to check out a leaky toilet and an issue that we had with a bathroom faucet. He fixed both for us, and we are so happy with his work.

Another basement flooding story: Water heater got flooded in the recent rain and would not relight. The company that installed the heater 5 years ago was too busy to come out. Jorge was here within 2 hours, worked diligently to diagnose and fix the problem: Parts needed to be replaced. It was late in the day so he ordered the parts and sent me off to get them (just before the store closed and saving me money) and then he came back the next day and installed them. Voila: Fixed! Best of all, his price was so low that I had to argue with him to take more. Wow, a reverse argument over the price!

Over the last 8 years, he has helped us with several plumbing needs: replace/ upgrade galvanized pipes to copper throughout our house, installing auto shut offs, fixing hot water heaters, and giving us a fair assessment of what jobs should cost. Jorge is sooo nice, honest, and helpful. He responds very quickly even after hours.

It's clear his primary motivation is to help. For example, I heard a significant leak after 6 pm. What can I say that everyone else hasn't already. Some people don't want the work. Not only does Jorge want the work, he is up front, let's you in on the process, and is straight up just a nice human being. He returned the call right away, came the next day (it was a holiday when we called) diagnosed the problem (our sewage line was clogged from our house to the main,) and rooted out the line. He even called me outside to view the camera so I could see the state of my old clay pipes.

Jorge is a true professional. I called him about a significant kitchen leak I was experiencing, and he provided some initial advice over the phone, including walking through a possible diagnosis and some more and less costly options for fixing it (explaining trade offs with each option). I ended up scheduling time for him to come by in person and install a new faucet (he was very easy to coordinate with over text), but when he arrived it turned out that my problem was much simpler to fix (a matter of tightening a few things that got loose). He did this in about five minutes at no cost.

Jorge's honesty, promptness and overall professionalism have made me a big fan. I'll be sure to call him with any plumbing issues I have in the future.

I texted him at 8pm last night (on a wed night) about whether he could fix a thermocouple on our water heater (don't worry, I don't know what that is either). Our kitchen sink hose under the sink burst and water sprayed everywhere. I turned off the water main and first thing in the morning I called Alfa Plumbing. They came out first thing this morning and within the hour fixed the plumbing (rusted out pipes), installed new hoses and cleaned out the debris in pipes.

This is the 2nd time I've used Alfa Plumbing. They respond immediately and fixed the problem right then and there. Not only that, but the 2nd hose was on its way to bursting so they replaced that as well.

Woke up to find my under sink kitchen cabinet overflowing with water. Alfa made time in their schedule to come and diagnose the problem. Jorge of Alfa told me that likely the kitchen faucet, which is under lifetime warranty, was leaking or its cartridge was faulty, and my landlord could request a free replacement. My landlord is planning to do this, and has saved the cost of a plumber because Jorge was generous with his time and expertise, and declined to charge any fee for his effective troubleshooting visit. He could have charged his standard fee, and I was willing to do so in order to immediately address the problem, but he didn't want to make me/us pay unnecessarily when he was pretty sure this was fixable on our own. We will definitely call Alfa if and when a more significant problem arises!

I've meant to write a review for Alfa and Jorge a couple of years ago but better late than never! A couple of years ago we had a tiny leak in a wall. A water leak specialist came out twice and couldn't figure it out and a general contractor thought he found the problem but later we (or rather Jorge) found that that wasn't the case since the leak was still there. Anyway these professionals had special equipment to find the leak but they couldn't, whereas Jorge used his extensive experience and knowledge (as well as intuition that comes from experience) of plumbing to locate the leak. In addition, we often call Jorge for basic plumbing issues which usually happen with our often used kitchen sink. We're so glad to have him as our go to plumber!

Even before I bought my home in El Cerrito, I could tell that it had plenty of pressure in the water lines. In the next 15 months, I had three water leaks - refrigerator ice maker line, and bathroom faucets (two!). I finally got wise - that this is exactly what having too-high water pressure could do. So I called a couple of local plumbers - including Alfa.

I got a call back the same afternoon from Jorge at Alfa. After a few questions back and forth, I could tell that he was approaching the project from a thoughtful perspective. I could tell that he knew what he was talking about, and also that he knew what he needed to know about my home and its plumbing. We arranged for him to visit the next day to see it and check the pressure.

The next morning, I got a call from the other local plumber I had called, and he agreed to come by that day as well. Jorge arrived on time to check the pressure. It was a bit over 100 psi - way too high. He quoted me a price for installing the water pressure regulator.

As he was getting ready to leave, the other guy showed up. He asked no questions, and quoted me a price that was reasonable - and lower. He didn't bring a water pressure gauge. He didn't ask me what the water pressure was; he only seemed interested in in telling me how easy the job would be, and how quickly he could get it done.

I ended up choosing Alfa because of Jorge. We set up a date and time. He and his assistant arrived on time. He also kindly helped with three other small plumbing questions in my home - including adjusting the drain lever on my 75 year old bathtub. He did a little extra work in installing the regulator as well - replacing the water spigot, the main shut-off valve - and some PVC line as well.

I will recommend him to my friends and neighbors.

Jorge and assistant installed a new stainless steel sink, faucet, disposer and dishwasher. Jorge's technical assessments and price estimate were thoughtful, including decisions about valve upgrades that made the under-sink area more safe and efficient without significant cost increases. His work was precise, clean, and on budget. It took them a couple hours longer than expected but the focus was on getting the job done right, not fast. Our 90-year-old house presented several surprises in terms of rusted, obsolete supply lines, each solution involving a combination of clever tool-use strategy and brute strength from his assistant. I especially appreciated their ability to safely incorporate our electrical supply for the dishwasher so as to avoid having an electrician make an emergency visit. Alfa's pricing was consistent with professional plumbers. Craigslist may be OK for a water heater in the basement or a rooter, but if you care about the looks, reliability and care of your kitchen or bath plumbing, don't hesitate to give Jorge at Alfa a call.

With a house full of people on a Sunday night, on a holiday weekend, the shower in my 1-Bath house suddenly stopped draining and, filled up the tub.

All the obvious things weren't working, when I reached out to Jorge. He helped troubleshoot via text, offered tips and suggestions based on the info I shared with him -- and, he led us to SUCCESS, getting around the problem in a way we NEVER would have tried!! (snaking from the roof vent!!)

I am going to join the chorus in singing Jorge's praise. I hired Jorge to install a new stainless steel sink in my limestone countertop. We thought it was going to be an easy install, but sadly the sink was just a tad too big for the counter's hole. Rather than give up (my first inclination), Jorge and his helper took out a large drill, rolled up their sleeves, and painstakingly cut away enough of the limestone to drop the sink in. In the process, he also made changes to another part of the counter that actually fixed a slight defect from the previous installation. The work was difficult, and it took several hours to complete. But it was done in a highly professional manner. For going way beyond the call of duty, Jorge has my gratitude and thanks.

I used a local community board to get recommendations for someone to fix my leaking toilet, and wrote down several names in no particular order of preference.

After calling one business whose recorded message stated that they would try to get back to me in a couple of days (still have not heard from them), I called Jorge. He got back to me promptly, and gave me a date and time range from 12-2. To my utter surprise and delight, he called on the scheduled day to say they would be there around 1:15 and that Ivan would do a preliminary assessment.

Ivan was right on time, and was very thorough about ensuring where the leak was coming from so that I would not waste money.

Jorge and his crew, worked efficiently and were respectful of keeping my bathroom clean (removing a toilet is a messy job).

Called about a blocked toilet. I had partially unblocked it with a 3 ft toilet auger and treated it with enzyme drain care for several days. Still partially blocked. I have to concur with the 5 star reviews for Jorge.

First of all, Jorge picked up the phone! He then scheduled a time to come to our house for the next day. When he was on his way, he called me first. Excellent communication!

On arrival, Jorge fixed our kitchen sink promptly. Then, in the same visit, I asked if he could check out a number of other issues throughout the home. He looked at all of the issues and fixed some on the spot. Then, the big plumbing problem I was dreading that came up in our home inspection, after thorough troubleshooting, Jorge told me it was no longer an issue and why.

His fee for the kitchen sink I originally called him about was reasonable and when he then stuck to his original quote for all of his services that day I was bowled over. Great service at a great price!

Jorge clearly explained all of the plumbing issues to me, answered all of my questions, and provided helpful recommendations. He was also honest.

I will be calling Jorge again for my future plumbing needs.

Our water main from the meter to the house was leaking. Called Jorge, he was out the next day to do a diagnosis and estimate. Gathered estimates from 4 others. Jorge was by far the most thorough and knowledgeable of the people I talked with. He could not do the job until the following week, but he came back early Friday morning to shut off the leaky main. Jorge called almost immediately and was here on the job. He worked from 10:00AM to 1:00 sShower was not emptying- stuffed up from bathroom. told me to always flush after every use.

We contacted Jorge Alvarado of Alfa Plumbing to fix our GE water heater, after it refused to light. He pointed out that the water heater had been recently manufactured and was likely still under warranty, and gave us the toll-free number for GE to ask for the part we needed. GE overnighted us the part for free, and then we followed up with Jorge, who came the next day with his assistant to install it. Jorge was great. Personable, punctual, professional, honest, and reasonably priced. Could not ask for a better experience. We will definitely call him again when we need a plumber.

I've had occasion to need Jorge's expertise and knowledge 3 or 4 times in the last year. Each time he was sooo accommodating, knowledgeable and understanding. There was one instance of a bathroom remodel, With the delays he kept rescheduling until the room was ready. Another instance, he knew EXACTLY where to dig to uncover a clean out, 2 feet underground!! Can't say enough about these guys.

I'm new to the area so I went to yelp to look for a plumber.
I called Jorge at Alfa plumbing to repair a sump pump.
He repaired the sump pump for a reasonable price and was
friendly.
He gave us some good advise with other plumbing issues.
I would definitely use Alfa plumbing again.

Water started coming out of my shower valve instead of the faucet. I found Alfa on yelp, and Jorge came over about an hour later and solved my problem (and stuck around to help me figure out how to get my hands on a discontinued broken part). Fully recommend without any reservations.

Sorry I haven't reviewed sooner, but actually I'm on the same page with everyone else. Jorge is the best. Friendly, genial, efficient, quick to respond to phone messages, super knowledgeable, and very affordable. He has done great work for us a number of times. Most recently, a horribly clogged kitchen sink drain. He also showed me what was wrong with the way the new plumbing there was done, when kitchen was remodeled about 12 yrs ago (hmm, thanks Home Depot...). Last time he was here, he did a great job of selling us & installing a new toilet. 3 years ago, we suddenly had no hot water. Jorge is the kind of conscientious businessman, who will actually tell you if a job is outside his business's range. He determined very quickly that what we really needed was all new pipes, including the one coming in from the street, and recommended that instead of having him do a band-aid job on the problem inside the house, the better choice would be to hire a company that specialized in that kind of pipe work. We've had him come for a couple other things over the past few years, but these are the 3 situations that I remember vividly. We originally found Jorge here on Yelp, so my thanks to everyone who had already recommended him.

I've had Jorge out to my house a couple of times and have been very impressed by him each time. He arrives promptly and is friendly and professional. On his most recent visit, he discovered that what my in-laws thought was a clogged bathtub drain really was just a bath - Jorge flipped the switch to open the drain and the problem was solved. He laughed and didn't charge a penny for the visit.

I co-own two duplexes in North Berkeley that have had many plumbing troubles over the years. Jorge, the owner of Alfa Plumbing, has been our go-to guy. He's handled tricky jobs involving hard-to-detect leaks in walls & ceilings as well as minor repairs and replacements of old fixtures. He's responsive, on time, neat, and deals with picky tenants with aplomb. He'll happily provide an estimate. Best of all, his prices are very reasonable! Call him, you will not be sorry.

I would definitely recommend you contact Jorge with your plumbing or piping needs. I made an appointment with Jorge, he showed up on time, he is friendly and professional. He came over to check out two clogs and a leaking pipe. We had a slow draining bathtub and sink. Jorge checked out the bathtub and we agreed the clog was gone. He checked out the sink, adjusted the drain plug, and the clog is gone. We had used drano which must have helped in the last two days. Jorge explained how everything was working for our particular sink. For the leaking pipe, we crawled under the house and he found the source. Jorge gave me an estimate to fix the cause, explaining exactly what he would be doing. He wouldn't charge me for his experienced diagnosis of the clogs. Thanks Jorge.

We first met Jorge years ago when he worked for another company (which shall remain nameless). After his first visit we were so favorably impressed that we specifically asked for Jorge whenever we had another plumbing job... Everything Jorge did for us worked so well that we didn't need a plumber again for years...

Then when we DID need a plumber again a year ago, I called the company and found that he didn't work there any more. After searching around the web I came across Jorge's name and contacted him to find out if he was the same person who had taken care of our plumbing years ago...he promptly emailed back that he was. So now Jorge is again our 'go-to' guy for all of our plumbing needs. And we recommend him to any friends or relations in the Bay Area who need a plumber.

I called Jorge like 2 hours ago because of a bathtub faucet leak issue, he was over in 20 minutes, after 4pm and fixed the problem. He also fixed leaks in the handles that I didn't know I had, and showed me how to fix it myself the next time. Jorge is very friendly and skilled and I'm very happy I gave him a call. I really thought this leak would be expensive to fix, and take a long time and it was fixed in a very short time.. I was able to pay by check, which was convenient.

We had Alfa Plumbing repipe our house, replacing fifty-year old galvanized steel pipes with copper. Jorge and team did the job they said they were going to do at the price they quoted, were courteous, and cleaned up everything after they were done. I went with Alfa Plumbing because at the initial visit, Jorge's diagnosis was more comprehensive than the other prospective plumbers. He was also very honest about where the problems were and what he would have to do to resolve them. I'm very glad I chose them. They do excellent work.

Now I finally have one trusty plumber. Jorge promptly responded via text with estimate and time. The hot water in the shower wouldn't turn off, and I couldn't get to the parts because the tile was in the way. Next day, he showed up on time and explained the issue. He fixed the problem within the hour. He showed me how to fix similar issues, too. Then Jorge and his sidekick were off! Another damsel saved from plumb.
