Acero Electric came in the weekend outside normal business hour and installed the grounding rods, connection to 2 panels as well as ground one of the outlet in my legacy electric circuit..
He got the job done and my tenant was happy for his service. He is humorous and finds nothing as challenging.
I am hoping to get more work done at my rentals because he is now my goto electrician.

Richard fixed my electrical problem in less than 30 minutes. He did a quick check of our broken outlets and the circuit breaker panel, figured out the problem, and went to work right away.

Richard is friendly, funny, and seemed to be glad to be able to help. He kept saying I like solving problems. He did solved my problem.

I will surely call Richard again the next time we have electrical needs.

Thank you Richard! Had an issue with my GFCI and he came in ~15min to fix it. Charged $150 for the site visit plus cost of parts.

When I first called, Richard gave us troubleshooting tips to see if we could fix it ourselves, which other electricians would not not do! As a woman, I have a distrust when it comes to house repairs due to past negative experiences, but I felt right away that Richard would not try to change the price, to up sell me or to fix stuff that's not broken.

He also talked us through what he was doing and did a great job teaching us about load and line, tools, etc. This took extra time, so I really appreciate that.

Finally, our outlet cover was already broken and he gave us a free one!

Overall a funny, kind, and trustworthy person. Highly recommend and you won't regret contacting him.

Unfortunately I had the most uncomfortable encounter when I wanted an outlet replaced.

I contacted Richard via phone and he agreed to replace an outlet for me. When he arrived he proceeded to make comments on what he assumed my marital status was and on my appearance, repeating that I was beautiful (which, how could he know, I was wearing a mask??). The kicker was, he wrongly assumed I was running 2 appliances at once and said now don't be offended, you're very pretty, very pretty and proceeded to insult my intelligence while explaining that to me. He even told me to put his business card under [my] pillow (?!?) At the time I was super super uncomfortable so I just rolled with it because I wanted the job done.

As for the job itself, the removal of the original outlet wasn't done delicately so a decent chunk of paint came off my wall. So after all that discomfort and harassment it wasn't even done cleanly and I had to spend extra money to fix it (and its still kind of obvious).

Richard promised a lifetime warranty on the job done during the quoting process, apparently, this warranty is voided when you do not give a 5-star review on yelp

The job was performed in June 2018, last week, there's a sudden main breaker jump so I called and left a message asking him to come out and check it out. When he returned my call, he said that 4-star review is an insult to him and I should ask someone else to come out and hung up.

Never in my knowledge that 4/5 is that bad, let alone an insult. I left him a voicemail back to state that it was an honest review but never meant to be an insult. The 1-star being taken off due to the hassle of trying to get a hold of him and his lack of updates on arrival times

Anyway, I did get someone else out to replace all the burned parts

Again, another honest review that if you do not give a 5-star rating, the job done is not warranted

Needed to get a Nest thermostat installed and knew there were some wiring issues between the thermostat and the furnace somewhere. Richard was able to quickly assess the situation and give me options when it appeared that the Nest thermostat may have not been compatible.
After offering him an example of a similar furnace/thermostat setup he was able to adapt to the situation and get the Nest thermostat installed!
He provided detailed photos and great communication throughout the process.

Richard and his team do excellent work. He's an upstanding guy with a good heart. It's obvious that he cares about his customers and a job well done. The thing that I like most about Richard is that he treats each job like he's doing it for family. He doesn't bring people into your home who he wouldn't feel comfortable to have around his family. He's trustworthy and I'd feel comfortable leaving him in my home alone if needed. I've also provided more details on his approach below.

Quoting the Job: Richard will come to your home and assess the job. He'll let you know if and how the work should be done (which is especially helpful when you have an older home with old wiring). He'll give you a price quote and timeframe for the work to be completed. He'll also let you know if other work that you should consider having done, even not related to electrical. While he was on my roof he saw that my gutters were full and admonished me the get them cleaned before the rain came. I don't think it would have occurred to me otherwise and we would've had a bigger issue to deal with had we not addressed the gutters.

Payments: I also like his approach to paying for jobs. His client buy the materials and pay him for labor separately when the job is complete. Since so many people get stiffed with contractors who take their money and run without completing the job; I prefer the way Richard manages his transactions.

Follow-Up: Once the job is complete, Richard calls to make sure the job was completed to satisfaction. I've always been pleased with the work he's done for me! He's my go to for all things electrical, I've hired him for several jobs.

I was having a problem with the garage outdoor light where it wouldn't turn on. Made an appointment for the same day I called with Richard he was very nice and professional. Richard took a look at it and inspected the light and moved the top of the light and it turn on. I was a bit embarrassed that it was something so simple. I was surprised that Richard didn't charge me for coming out. I would definitely call them again.

We are so thankful for Richard at Acero Electric! We woke up Saturday morning with electricity in only half of the house. Thought it was a simple fuse issue but it was not. After calling numerous electricians who had very pricey fees (just for coming out), we came upon Acero's 5 star Yelp review. Richard came out a few hours later and quickly assessed the issue-- a squirrel had bitten part of an electrical wire outside. This meant that we needed to call PG&E.

Though Richard did not directly service our electrical issue, he was responsive, courteous, professional and was able to figure out what the problem was. He was very generous of his time and expertise. I will be calling Richard first, should I have any future electrical needs. I recommend others to call him as well!

Do not use this guy for your electrical needs. He is a scam artist. We agreed to him to come out and look at our electrical issue and provide an estimate. He came to my house, and when he realized that he was not talking to the same person he was on the phone, he then charged a high fee that we did not agree to.

Also, he was unable to suggest a solution to our problem, and suggested that we switch all the circuit breakers out. This made no sense because we had just upgraded all the electrical with new circuit panel and breakers a year and a half ago.

Mainly, he is dishonest.

This is the third house we've used Richard and Acero Electric, and I feel bad for not reviewing sooner. Richard is an honest electrician that does incredible work. Many thanks to Richard and Enoch! I received 2 quotes from a competitor for $8K and $4K to fix 2 lights in a row of 5. Richard called me after I reached out via Yelp, and was able to visit my office that afternoon. I lost count of the electricians that I contacted. Everyone was either busy, or they only handle large commercial projects. We are a small business, so we don't qualify as residential and our office is a small, single story building.

Anyway, they came to the office, assessed the problem and BOOM! - all my lights are working. They charged me for the 2 hours spent, and it was well worth it. Now everyone is happy because the front lights are working again. Yay!

Nothing but great things to say about Acero Electric!

We were in a bind on a Saturday afternoon, after finding out that our house was out of power in three bedrooms. We needed the issue resolved before the evening, and called many electricians in the Santa Clara/San Jose/Sunnyvale/Milpitas area. All said that they were busy and would not be able to send someone until Sunday afternoon (24 hours later) - but that was until we called Acero Electric.

At 4pm, we spoke with Richard. He listened to our issue, and asked where we were located. Even though he had just made a trip out to Santa Clara 1.5 hours earlier, he stated that he would stop by in an hour. We texted him pictures of our circuit breaker and a video of the issue we were encountering. He said he knew right away what the problem was.

Within 20 minutes of being at the house, Richard and his colleague were able to isolate the issue and fix it. Thank you so much Acero Electric - you guys were a lifesaver!

Richard was great. I had a few small electric projects (installation of new lights in the garage, installing a new outlet behind the TV) that needed to get done, and I wanted them done ASAP. I contacted him, and he came over the same day to check out the projects and provide a quote. His prices were very fair. It was the evening, and we didn't have all the lights we'd need, but he agreed to come back the next day to get everything done. He showed up on time, worked quickly and was friendly - and as I said, he charged a very fair price. I have another electrical project I need done soon, and I will be contacting Richard.

I recently picked up a peloton tread and it kept on tripping the circuit. Unfortunately treadmills need their own dedicated circuit and they hate circuits on a GFCI. I message Richard for a quote and he came to my house within 30 mins to take a look at where I'd like the outlet to be installed. We agreed to have him swing by early in the morning to complete the job. Richard follows CDC guidelines when arriving to the job; wearing mask and gloves and keeping distance. He was very kind to allow me to shadow him to learn about the job he was doing. He's has a wealth of knowledge, provides great options to the homeowner, and prices reasonable for the work. I would absolutely recommend Richard for any electrical work to friends and family.

He quickly came when I told him of a dangerous electrical problem in my kitchen. He and his co-worker assessed and resolved the situation in a thoughtful and professional way. We had a great experience with Richard and Acero Electric. I called yesterday evening to ask for a quote for smart switch installation, as well as outlet replacement. Richard's pricing was excellent, and he offered to come in the following morning (today!). We accepted his offer and were happy with the result: friendly, efficient, and excellent service. Not only did Richard install the 2 switches and replace the outlet we discussed over the phone, he was able to accommodate our request to set up 2 more switches and ended up replacing 3 other outlets that did not work, no complaints. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Mr. Acero and his apprentice Enoch did a wonderful job installing my ceiling fans. They were super responsive, and even fixed some of the mistakes from a different electrician I had come in the past. I'll start from the beginning to tell you how great they were.

I called Richard back around 2pm after he responded to my inquiry that morning. He asked me a few questions about my ceiling which I couldn't answer accurately. He then said he would just stop by to take a look. Once he got there, he was very polite and funny (but not as funny as he thinks he is :) and began to survey the place. Before I realized it, he was getting started on the job. I stopped him to ask what was going on, and he was like oh yeah I forgot to quote you a price. The price was great, and with that, he instantly got started working. He was very thorough and told me exactly what he needed from the hardware store to complete the installation of the 2 fans.

Even though they took 4 hours to install both fans, it felt much faster. They were really clean and swept up any mess they made from drilling. They took great care of all the property, and even offered to complete any other electrical jobs around the house for discounted pricing. I will definitely be calling Acero Electric again if I need anything done at my house. My fans look and work great, and it was a pleasure working with them.

Called Richard this morning, at my house in 10 minutes (lives close by). Assessed the work, scheduled to come back in the late afternoon, finished just shy of dinner time.

Reasonable price for two (three way switch installs), double check my switch installs, and provided valuable information regarding code for converting two prong to three prong receptacles. All in one day!

Richard is wonderful to work with, knows his stuff, and a good troubleshooter (e.g. Checking my switch installs and correcting where needed).

Highly recommended this company!

Odd interaction, found him through Yelp quotes which is a great feature. He responded to my quote request and we talked briefly. He said send me your address so I can come by and look at the job. I did, 2 DAYS later I followed up and ask him if we had made an appointment yet and he simply responded 'no'? Nothing else for hours later. Wouldn't you think as a business you might try and lock in an appointment at that point by saying something like ' no not yet , when will you be available?' or something like that? I mean what do I need to do to get a simple quote here! Look all 5 other companies came in that day or the next some with formal quotes already. Anyway it was so odd I decided to pass if this reflects his business logic

Great guy! Down to earth and I'm so glad he was able to do the work for me. In the future he will be my go to guy for electrical and anything else if he says he can do it. I'd love to be able to earn credit card reward points on our next projects. My mom and I are very thankful for Richard for coming out on short notice especially on a cold day. My mom and I blown out the fuse when we had two heater running on the same circuit. I try resetting the circuit board myself, but was still unable to get the two room electricity.I later learn that I had had trip the circuit, and didn't completely resetting it. He show me how to resetting it and he was very informative, helpful, and honest. He is definitely my go to electrician when anything goes out again!

I spent the day being jerked around by this electrician. I called at 9 am to arrange to have my nonfunctioning ceiling fan looked at and he said he was available in the afternoon. We agreed he would come around 2:30 or 3:00 and that I'd call him when I was leaving my daughter's house to head home to San Jose. I did so and he said it would be another hour or so as he finished up another job. I said that was fine. At 5:00 I had heard nothing,.so I called him and he said he was just finishing up and he'd be there shortly. Again total silence for another hour and a half. At 6:30 I texted him and said not to bother.
No service and not even a phone call to advise me of his delays. Horrible service. I will not contact him again. He may do good work but that isn't all there is to running a business. Stay away!

After I asked for a quote from Acero Electric, Richard came out that night to look at the job and gave me a quote. He replaced my florescent kitchen lights with new recessed LED lights and gave me a flat ceiling. All of the other companies I received quotes from said I had to hire my own wall finishing people and I would have a cavity in the ceiling. Job was done in 2 and a half days and everything looks great. I thought Richard was exaggerating when he said my kitchen area will be so bright, I'll need sunglasses. Good thing I have dimmers.

Richard is an extremely helpful electrician with good rates. I had him out to install a fan with controls and fix an outlet that my handyman had messed up. He did such a good job installing both despite several existing complications with old wiring that I had hired him on to change all of the outlets and do a full rundown on the place to bring everything up to code, and more (they caught some scary things that I would never have know about). I'm more than satisfied with the work and will be calling him again with any future requests.

Richard showed up on time and provide a reasonable quote and said he could return later that day and get the work completed before the Warriors game that night. I am so glad that I found Richard at Acero Electric.
Today, I called Richard and he said he can be at my house in 1 hour. I simply wanted to get a quote to have GFCI outlet installed in my bathroom. He came, checked all the requirements, explained thoroughly what needs to be done and gave me very reasonable quote. And he was readily available to finish the work right then! So I hired him and he did a great job.

Richard you rock.
I called Acero electrics for inspecting one of our room which was having power outage. I talked to magic man Richard over the phone, discussing the electric issue which we had. He guided me over the phone to perform few task at home before he come for inspection to see if issue gets resolved. Wen I followed the steps, it worked. And on top of all he did not charged any fees for consultation unlike other electricians. So I roughly saved 200bugs. Next time if I have electric issues definitely I am calling Acero electrics, for any paid services.

If I can give more stars I would. Very professional, great sense of humor, budget friendly, he understands that we all have to stay within budget. He has a high level of safety not just for him and his staff but for his clients. He has 20+ years electrical experience and it shows. He has helped me with a few issues on several occasions. I'm a new homeowner and trying to keep my costs down but I know when to call a professional and definitely do not want to cut corners on electrical work.

I called on Friday afternoon to get a quote for a light fixture I had installed which was a replacement and it wasn't turning on. He arrived within an hour of calling. I had previously installed the same model in another room and it worked and had replaced a ceiling fan, so I had some knowledge of what I was doing but I'm not an electrician. I didn't know what the issue was and within a minute of looking at things Richard says it's the dimmer switch. He switched it out and it worked.

Sunday I attempt to install 3 pendant lights myself. I installed them and I blew out the dimmer switch. I did some research and figured I needed a dimmer switch that would allow for more watts since I was running over 700 watts on a 600 dimmer switch but I burnt that one as well and the popped the breaker. I called Richard again on Monday and he was able to come that evening. He did trouble shoot the dimmer switch, the pendant lights and found that I was pulling too much voltage from the breaker, it wasn't the dimmer switch or the wiring of the pendants, it was a different issue that I would have never known about since I'm not an expert. In the meantime his assistant installed another ceiling fan I didn't want to do myself.

I've had a great experience with Richard and will continue to work with Richard on my electrical needs.

I normally don't write reviews however I did want to share my experience. I took time off from work to ensure I was available to get a ceiling fan installed.

The Good :The owner responded the same day in response for a quote to install a ceiling fan. I thought what great service which is hard to find in the Valley! Its a simple and straight forward job as I had purchased the ceiling fan and was ready for the install. He then 'scheduled' a time for the following day to complete the work. Great!

Now the not so good: I waited until 10pm with no call & no show. Keep in mind I took work off to be available. After contacting the 'owner' via Yelp, he said he called but no one answered. I guess its to much for someone to call, text or email to let them know you aren't able to do the work as scheduled. I completely understand that things come up however simply communicating would have solved the issue at hand.

I responded back inquiring if he still planned to complete the job and haven't seen a response. 2 stars is fair in this case with no follow up, a missed appointment and the job incomplete.

My real estate agent sold me a house that didn't even pass inspection. Richard came in and corrected all electrical issues and helped me find wonderful guys to come in and correct all the problems in my new house and have it up to code. I was given richard's name through a family member who had just had work completed in his home by richard. Since then, richard has been to my home three times for electric work. One was to fix ceiling lights in our family room that wouldn't turn on (turns out that the wiring was not done correctly), the second was to put in recessed lighting in our living room and install a light in our boys room and the third time was to put in field lights on our turf lawn (aka soccer field) and around our gazebo. Each time the work was done w/ great care and attention to detail at competitive prices! Not to mention many times he has done extra work. For example, we left for europe last summer and I discussed the possibilty of having our living room lighting done while we were gone to prevent disruption w/ a hectic household. Richard not only did the lights but he also went through our old home (1940's) and fixed a good portion of our old outlets to bring them up to code!!!! this is a perfect example of the detail he puts into each project. Our old home will require many more electric projects and we are incredibly happy that we found richard! He is trust worthy, honest, caring and humorous man who takes great care in making sure the job is done well.

Best electrician I could have called & hired! Told him the problem which he treated as an emergency & was at my rescue immediately. Not exaggerating, he was at my home (which is near his address) within minutes. We thought the problem was grounding but it turned out to be related to one of the breakers. He didn't leave until he knew my family & I were safe. Came back to finish the next day and I ended up finding more work for him which he was happy to do. Fixed doorbell & installed ceiling fans. My husband and I went through a house remodel and our contractor hired an electrician that took so many shortcuts eg loose wires in the garage that are major fire hazards, not following code throughout the house (they had covered it up until we started poking holes in the wall and their transgressions were exposed! I have no idea how we passed inspection. Probably because all those shortcuts were nicely covered up. Had they spent the same level of effort doing it right, it would have saved us so much more time and money. My husband called probably 5 electricians to come by and assess the damage. They all were overwhelmed with the amount of re-work that had to be done. All, except one. This man named Richard strode in one day and assessed the situation and said, no problem and it could be done. We knew he was legit when he brought in his sidekick and secret weapon Dee. The both of them together are not only experts in their field but they are a riot. They partner really well together and were able to get everything fixed in less than half the time all of the other electricians quoted us and with incredibly reasonable prices. If i could give Richard and Dee a 6 star i would! The icing on the cake? Richard's unique humor. You will know what i mean if you ever hire Richard. You will get outstanding quality of service but best of all? Pay a premium for his comedy. He is best of the best. An honest electrician that genuinely wants to help and is passionate about his work and funny as hell. Thank you Richard and Dee for the amazing work you have done on our house. We needed an emergency service at my mom's home due to a small fire in her kitchen. The Fire Department required us to have an electrician to inspect the burned wires before we can turn on the electrical power. It was hard to find an electrician on Labor Day. Found Acero Electric thru Yelp and Richard performed a superb work, wrote a detailed work done on the invoice, and charged us with a reasonable price. I'm keeping his business card for future reference. Very nice guy as well.

Recently had Richard and Enoch come out to look at a possible whole hour rewire and panel upgrade and ultimately decided to hold off on the project pending some remodeling projects we have planned. But I did need a few small items done like dropping my electrical down to my basement for laundry and repairing a couple of loose outlet receptacles. Richard and Enoch came back as promised and got those items done in no time flat. Being the stickler homeowner that I am, I watched them work and they were great. Richard and his assistant Jorge removed two burnt out flourescent units in my mother-in-laws kitchen and replaced it with one two tube LED unit that I purchased at Home Depot. Acero Electric does an excellent professional job and cleaned up afterwards. The price was very reasonable and they even disposed of the old unit. Very nice folks and Richard will even tell you a joke or two if you ask. I'm always in the mood for a laugh.

Richard is a friendly, honest, and very knowledgeable electrician with a very reasonable rate. If I could give him 10 stars, I would. I called him last week to check on my faulty kitchen circuit breakers. He fixed it efficiently and also gave me a good advice on how to save on basic electric repairs. He called me a few days after to check up on his work. I was impressed on how he really cares about customer satisfaction. I called him again yesterday to take a look on some outlet work. I give Acero Electric a 5 star for timeliness, great service, and quality work. I found Acero Electric on Yelp, and after talking to Richard over the phone, he told me he can come by within an hour or two. Other companies I talked to either won't be available for a few days or not available at all.
He showed up about 1 hour later and got to work right away. He showed me how to reset the circuit breaker which I wasn't able to. He told me to do it a few times until it sticks. He replaced the faulty GFCI with a new one which I already bought. As he was doing his job, he explained to me how GFCIs work. I found him very thoughtful and also friendly.
He tested all the plugs in the line that is under control of the GFCI, and even showed me how to test a few.
At the end, he gave me a discount because I already had the part ready, and because it was quite straightforward to him (not to me.) I really appreciate that. This is extremely rare!
I had a really professional and friendly experience, and I would highly recommend Richard.

OMG - an electrician who is honest, reasonable and knows his stuff. Had a strange electrical problem where part of one of my branch circuits stopped working. Richard was able to squeeze me in the same day I called him. He figured out that at some place in the circuit a neutral wire was lost. Found out that one of the light switches had a loose neutral wire and problem solved and he didn't charge an arm and a leg. He even replaced a GFCI outlet that was also problematic. Knowing something about electricity myself, I can (and will) wholeheartedly recommend Richard and his company to friends and family!

After a handyman installed some lighting fixtures, the lights became unstable and began to flicker, dim or brighten. I was very concerned about the installation of those fixtures and needed a real electrician to check it out but was afraid of the cost of calling an electrician. Acero Electric to the rescue!! Richard came out the same morning I called and after checking the wiring of the fixtures he told me exactly what was wrong ... the dimmer switches needed to be replaced. I just had a new circuit for A/C installed by Richard today. I found him by the word of mouth of a friend and also noticed the excellent reviews he has been getting. He held up his excellent reputations in his service today. He is right on time, and gave a honest opinion in pros and cons of different options I have. The drilling part was tougher than expected due to extra plywood used in construction. He has been patient, polite and telling jokes all along.
