I'm proud to say that I love what I do every day. I've been an owner of Monona Plumbing and Fire Protection, a trusted professional contractor in Madison, Wisconsin, for almost 15 years now and President since 2006. I am driven by our accomplishments as a company and am incredibly proud of the work that we do.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1995 with an Accounting degree, and have since worked with many construction companies and their management teams. In 2001, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with my MBA in Corporate Finance. My real world construction experiences combined with my education have allowed me to follow my dream of managing and owning a construction company. I have a rewarding career, as it allows me to combine my interest in business with my passion and enthusiasm for the construction industry.

way overpriced would not return phone call terrible service they are the worst stay away
Terrible experience with this company and the plumber. He was very rude and condescending to my wife and they overcharged us so much money. Then, when we tried to talk to somebody at the company about our issues, they would never call us back! I do not recommend this company. Plus the thing they were supposed to fix is not even fixed so they are incompetent as well.
Had what I thought was an emergency issue after hours. Matt walked me through a couple things by phone. Toilet issue still needed a home visit. Scheduled it right away. Luke did a great job. I had him return the next week to put in a couple gas lines, new water softener. Great work, friendly. Answered all my questions. Will definitely use them again.

Chuck showed up on time as promised, was very friendly and personable, and was in and out in no time, installing my Wi-Fi safety shutoff valve in under an hour. As far as the business is concerned -- of all I contacted, Monona was the most responsive, the most in depth, and fairly significantly the best value, and they asked about mask preferences ahead of time (which were adhered to!), which is not something I have experienced with other contractors. I would happily contact Rick again for an estimate or have Chuck do work for me. Well done.
I have used them in the past and they were great. I called to have a leaking Moen shower valve cartridge replaced and told them I could only have them work on Tuesday or Thursday. They said they will have some cartridges on the truck and if they don't have them they will run out and get them. They gave me a 4 hour window on Tuesday to work with. They called 3 hours into the window saying they would take a picture of the valve and replace it tomorrow. Wednesday. When I cannot do it.
I could have rescheduled for Thursday, but I decided to cancel and give someone else a try. Hopefully someone who values their customer's time better.

I didn't have hot water and two other plumbers couldn't figure out why. I'm pretty sure Evan took that as a challenge because he didn't stop trying things to fix it and it ended up being because of warped piping in the attic! He was incredibly nice the whole time he was working on it. Would definitely call again.
Great customer service. They replaced three of my toilets and were very fast and super clean. They also provided me with a quote and did not try to sell me anything I did not need. They were punctual and courteous. I am definitely calling them back if I need anything else serviced.
We needed a water heater replacement and after much searching decided on Monona Plumbing. (they are not in Monona) The phone person I talked to was professional and knew his products and they service what they sell was the two main reasons I went with them. Price wise they were a little higher then some but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. The plumber who installed it was on time and got the job done quickly and the install looks very nice. No messy solder joints like some installers do. This shop has lots of employees and is quite big so there wasn't a long wait. Give them a shot if you need any plumbing job done.

its sad i called them seeing good reviews. when i call lady who answered said they very busy till certain date I said fine give me an appointment. after a pause she said oh only one appointment that day very early in the morning. what a joke they dont know there own availability
We have used Monona several times - they are easy to schedule with (and are able to come early in the morning so as not to disrupt the workday) and efficient.
We've had them replace a leaky faucet and fix a slow floor drain. They take the time to explain what they're investigating so you as the customer can get up to speed on the tools you'd need for a DIY fix next time, or help better explain what the issue might be next time they are needed.
They could potentially be more transparent in pricing after the job is done - I don't know what the hourly rate is.
Have had two different plumbers out to our house in the past few days. Both were excellent, well spoken and showed us everything we needed to know. They put in new fittings for our new shower, moved the shower head up 12 inches, helped remove dishwasher and added gas line to stove to replace electric stove. Came back right away when we called about smelling gas. Checked all their work from the gas in line to the stove itself. Resolved that the stove must be the issue, not the new line or valve. Would recommend to anyone.
