This message was posted to Lightfoot Mechanical's website the Monday or Tuesday following repair work. I expected at least a courtesy call explaining their outrageous billing. Never heard a word.
On Friday, June 25th, your company repaired two indoor bathroom faucets that were leaking and one outdoor Hose Bib 4-8 at my dad's home in Mansfield, TX. The invoice # is 77769640.
I live next door to my dad who is 90 years old.
When your service truck arrived, I was mowing my yard. After about twenty minutes I stopped mowing, and walked over to check out what was going on. My dad told me that he was having some leaky faucets repaired. He's getting his house ready to sell and wants everything in working order. My dad had already signed and agreed to the estimate for the work.
Shortly after that, your service guys left to go get a part. When they returned, they completed the work and presented the invoice for payment. The bill was $1,230.04. My dad wrote a check for the amount....he wasn't happy with the cost, but needed the faucets working before he could sell the house and didn't want to delay the repair. I was aghast! The whole job including time to go get a part was just a couple of hours....maybe a little more.
I asked the service tech presenting the bill to explain why it was so much. He said, he puts a description of the work in his tablet and the cost for each job is already established. Each leaky faucet was over $300 and the outside faucet was over $400. I told him that was just wrong. I was courteous but firm. The job was done, the bill paid.....so I signed the electronic acknowledgment/receipt for my dad. We had a short gentlemanly conversation about the exorbitant (in my view) cost.
I told the service tech I would be complaining to the company about the cost....so here I am.
In all fairness, I will say that your employees were courteous and professional. The work appeared very satisfactory.
But $1,200.04 for two leaky indoor faucets and one leaky outdoor faucet. Are you serious!! That used to be called highway robbery.
One other thing, in the Description of Work on the Invoice it says Diagnose manablock and label each line in bedroom closet. However, that was not done because the service tech told my dad the valves were all stuck and did not want to take a chance on breaking one....therefore, they were unable to turn the different lines on and off in order to label them. The service tech did tell my dad that they would throw that work in with the price. Since it wasn't able to be done, should've been removed from the description. FYI....fairly new home, approximately 8 yrs old.
I wasn't the customer, but I assure you that my experience with your billing left a very bad impression on both my dad and me.
Also, you call yourselves the Good Guys. That's probably a good description of your job performance but certainly doesn't apply to your billing practices.
