Best Air Duct Installation in Boston MA
I am incredibly happy with Green Energy Mechanical and cannot recommend them enough. They were responsive, professional, and completed a beautiful job. We had a very challenging project where we wanted to convert from oil and radiators for our heat and window ACs for our cooling to all electric. We had to go with a ductless system because of our home. The job included: removing oil tank, boiler, radiators and corresponding piping, installing an electric water heater, and installing 8 mini-splits on all three levels of our home on two separate systems. They charged about the same as other competitors, but offered up to $7,500 in rebates with MassSave and a much faster turn around time. Once we signed the quote, we qualified for the MassSave $25,000 0% APR loan quickly and installation was confirmed for the next week. The job took 6 days, and their crew was amazing. They cleaned up at the end of each day, would give us a verbal report on what had been completed that day, and what they planned to do the next. We now have a much more efficient home and it looks amazing!

Completely wonderful experience with this outfit. The price was very competitive, the work was immaculate, and the professionalism was top notch.

I used this team for a Kitchen renovation project and some other plumbing jobs over the past 8 years... I have always been pleased with the quality of there work and value. They have always taken time to do the job correctly.

James fixed our heating system when it failed amid a recent snowstorm. He was polite and responsive and showed up on time or early. It took several visits to get us up and running because the supplier was closed over the weekend, but he was eager to finish the job first thing Monday morning. He explained what he was doing and even took the time to answer my questions about improvements and preventive maintenance. I am very happy with the service and I will call him in the fall to have him take care of those other things.

I'm a fan. Everything from clearing a drain to installing. Professional, likeable and explains what's up. It's a family based business. Call and arrange for an estimate.

Recommendation! ........So this week has been a comedy or errors. First, the toilet seat cracked. Then, the toilet seat couldn't be removed through regular and irregular(hacksaw to the bolts, anyone?) Then, called plumber and toilet was no longer being made so had to hunt around for both special bolts and a special tool to extract bolts. Then their distributor gave them the wrong ones. Then they realized the cost of them replacing the lid to our toilet was not much less than getting a new toilet. So three cheers for our unexpected new toilet (we'll call her Dr. Toilet). Mad shout out to Akian Plumbing in Watertown. Other plumbers would have blown us off mid process bc it was too complicated. They texted me with updates, walked me through all choices, were reasonably priced, were kind and polite, and most importantly, SHOWED UP ON TIME. They have earned my business..if you need plumbing help, they will earn yours, too.

Quick response, honest assessment, and fair price. I needed a toilet fixed. Will definitely call Readville plumbing again! I super appreciated the clever suggestion that I take a picture of the toilet before he came, so he knew the maker and the parts needed. It avoided what usual happens, which is the old line, 'yeah, I don't have the parts with me, I'll need to come back.'

My garbage disposal got clogged: the machine was working but the content of the disposal, ground, did not move through. I disconnected the plumbing coming off the disposal and found that water that I inserted from above would came out easily. Therefore, I thought there must have been a clogged pipe downstream, which was unaccessible to me. I called MACCO and described what I just wrote here; they gave me an appointment for ONE WEEK later. They also told me that I would have to pay $ 320 minimum, regardless of how short or long the job was going to be. When the plumber came he spent a good amount of time doing the same thing that I had done, and told me that he could not fix the problem and I needed a drain guy. He even called his dispatcher (same person I had talked to, who confirmed that they do not do that type of work.
I then called their office and said that I did not feel fair to charge me because they should have said right away that they could not do the job. The person on the phone just continued to repeat that I had accepted in advance to pay and that I had not told him that there was a clogged drain, which ridiculous because I knew that it was not a leak and that I had told him that I thought there was probably some obstruction downstream. I even offered to meet in between with the charge because I understood the man who came had spent some work time, but there was no chance. Eventually I paid.
I later called a drain company, they came the next day and in 15 minutes they got the job done, for $ 149.
I clearly will not use MACCO again and I would never recommend them to anyone, and I told them the same.

Boston Standard recently replaced our entire tankless hot water system, and they did an absolutely terrific job. Frank M. and Jorge were courteous, competent, and friendly. The installation is pristine; it's weird to say this about a hot water system, but it actually looks beautiful. The guys also took care to really clean up after they'd finished the job, which was greatly appreciated. In short, I would absolutely recommend Boston Standard (and Frank and Jorge) to anyone in need of HVAC services.

Service was very responsive. Quality of work was very good. My normal plumbers were very busy at the time. The price of the job was very costly to get the job done the same day.

I have used 128 Plumbing for several years. At first they were fantastic. I used them for heating and cooling. They were efficient, prompt, helpful and did great work. Over the last year and a half, they have gone significantly downhill. Their technicians have made mistakes during servicing, they push sales material, their office staff commits to something and then does not follow through, and different office staff has made repeated calls to me about the same item, like they are not communicating internally. I finally had enough and took my business elsewhere.

Extremely gruff on the phone and in person but they were the only ones who responded and actually came to my home when the heat went out. I probably called 15 different companies and got no answer or no call back or no show, but Quarry Hills actually followed up with me and fixed our heat when no one else would. They'll be my first call next time.

When I called Gem Plumbing and Heating, I thought I would be getting someone that could do plumbing and heating as the business name implies. They could do neither. They were very honest about it though. I'll give them that.
Our electric water heater kept tripping the breaker. I called Gem. They were very nice on the phone. They told me it would be a $99 service call fee. I could test to see if it was just a faulty breaker myself but, $99 so I don't have to mess around with electric and water? A very fair price.
They came out the next day. Very courteous. They spent 12 minutes verifying that the circuit to the water heater was good. That was it. Their conclusion as worded on the receipt found possible faulty hot water tank. Is it faulty or not? I asked if I needed a new water heater. The response I got was We're just electricians. We can have a plumber come out. Roughly how much would a new tank cost?, We're just electricians. They couldn't even tell me how much it would be to send out a plumber.
Since the furnace also produces hot water and the water was still coming out fairly hot I asked, Is there a way to turn up the temp on the furnace?. You guessed it, We're just electricians but, we can send a furnace person.
TOTAL CHARGE FOR 12 MINUTES OF WORK? $325
That's right, the $99 is just to drive the truck to your house. It doesn't include any work. That's about $27 per minute. It took them longer to fill out the paper work. I even had to put them on MY wifi so they could do it. Maybe I should charge them for that. I'll only charge them $25 a minute so, about $500.
So I guess I would have been charged another $99 plus whatever else for a furnace person to come out and turn up the heat then, if the water still wasn't hot enough, another $99 plus whatever else to have a plumber come out to replace the water heater.
The invoice I got doesn't even have a breakdown of what was done. Just one line that says they cashed my check. Is that even legal? They couldn't even tell me how much it would be to send out a plumber to tell me if I needed a new water heater or not.
I should have put this on my charge and disputed the charge.

We just moved from a condo to a house (suburbs) and since the move, we've had multiple issues with our 1920 colonial such as plumbing. In most cases, I would spend time and do adequate research on Yelp, Angies List, etc. to find a provider. Our scenario was a bit different because it required immediate attention and while Rodenhiser did their absolute best to get someone out the same day it wouldn't be until the next morning for an emergency visit.
*Side note - I don't think in the history of reviews I've seen as many positive reviews for a service, therefore I REALLY wanted to work with this company with my plumbing and HVAC issues. On Friday 5/5/17 they were able to schedule an HVAC appointment for Monday morning between 7am and 8am - perfection.
So, because I needed immediate service Roto Rooters was able to come out same day. It was a disaster, the man was nice enough, but our Kholer system was too modern for him to even touch so he took pictures and said he'd report back. This was not what I expected. I called Rodenhiser back and they were able to fit me in today 5/6/17 and I cannot say enough about their customer service and specifically the service provider, Chris, who came to assess the problem. Within 10 minutes he was able to fix the problem temporary until a new part was ordered immediately to be installed next week. Chris was professional, easy to talk to, knowledgeable, good with my son and dog and most importantly passionate about what he does. He went the extra mile while Roto Rooter was a joke.
I'd recommend this company to anyone and my expectations are HIGH. If you can get Chris for plumbing issues try as he's the type of employee I'd hire in a second. Appointment with HVAC Monday morning and I have peace of mind it will go as smoothly as today. This company is fantastic!

A little disappointing, wanted to stay local so called a few different places, got quotes about a hot water heater replacement. Didn't get a quote from PANN but figured at the worst it would be about the same. Kept telling me the technician would give me a number, even when I asked for the worst case scenario how much it might cost. It turned out to be about $500 more than any other quote. Probably my own fault for not getting number upfront.

I highly recommend A Hohmann Plumbing. They provide excellent service in a timely manner at competitive prices. They were initially recommended by our building manager. We have utilized their services at our condo in Boston for plumbing, heating and AC service and repair since 2016.
The technicians always have arrived in the 2 hour block that is scheduled promptly by the efficient and pleasant office staff. If we are not on-site the technicians coordinate with our Super for access to our unit and the roof (when necessary).
Scott Hohmann, the owner, is accessible and thoroughly explains the pros and cons of different options when repairs or system replacement is necessary. He is flexible in utilizing whatever method of communication works for me in different situations. Calls, text or email allow for reporting problems, sending photos when necessary, and receiving estimates.
Scott, Tommy, and Nick have all performed service in our unit. Over the past 3 years they have installed a disposal, repaired leaks, added water sensors and automatic shutoff valves for the water heater and washing machine, added ducts to a new room, reduced AC/Heater noise and improved airflow with a larger return when an inadequately sized return was found hidden in a wall (due to earlier construction), performed preventative maintenance, and most recently replaced a heat pump/AC condenser on the roof. All have been done in a timeframe that met my expectations.
When I have left a message after hours with the night call service they return the call early the following morning, or in the case of an emergency within 15 minutes.
Cost: I believe their labor rate is competitive with other Boston area companies. When we had to have the blower unit, heater and AC coil moved 2 years ago to allow for a larger return and install the new return in a small space I received estimates from 4 firms. I decided on Hohmann since the cost was below the other companies by 25% and my previous experiences with their work were excellent.

It is normally a rule of thumb that I do not take chances on businesses lacking more than 4 positive reviews, or any reviews at all, but as a new homeowner in the Metro West region, I have learned that many business out this way I would expect Yelped are not, and most avid Yelpers I know are mostly renters in urban areas. We had a mostly positive experience with Wellesley Plumbing & Heating that has left me open but not yet committed to future household business with them. The circumstances of what wound up being our first job with them were complicated, and may be more responsible for my not quite perfect impression than WPH, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. Essentially, WPH had been recommended to us by another local service contractor we were then working with when we moved in to a new home in the Wellesley area. Originally, I had approached them for an estimate on the installation of a new GE GeoSpring HWH, but when it came back high, we reconsidered getting the GeoSpring. I then resolved, again somewhat against my own judgment, to buy a new HWH from Home Depot and just have them install it. Once the purchase was made, I learned my local HD did not do installations, and I called WPH. They arrived at the late end of our agreed appointment window, and once the job was done the HD unit would not power on. The crew left for another job, and my wife and I had no hot water the first cooler weekend of fall, which sucked. Once I determined I would return the HWH to HD, I resolved to buy one of WPH's HWHs, have them uninstall the HD unit, install their AO Smith, and take the old unit (pre-HD) away. They then sent a new team -- or rather one perfectly competent but solo tech, which made the job take twice as long. Finally, we had a new heater and the other HWHs had been dealt with. The new heater is not the HWH we had originally looked at (not through WPH), but is definitely better than what we had before. I had also separately ordered a WAGS emergency shut-off valve on recommendation of our realtor, which WPH agreed to install over the phone, but the techs said would be a waste of money if installed. Not sure who to believe here, but I returned the valve and will try to figure out a new safety mechanism procedure. The WPH HWH was more expensive than what we had just purchased, and while they did subtract $150 from the original installation, the bill was pretty steep. The techs and storefront people have all been nice and cool, but I hope we might be better protected and better assured as customers going forward, or I will switch to a different plumber.

I called for HVAC repair at the start of the cold weather and they said someone would be out later that day -- even giving me a time window in which to expect them. They then canceled last-minute during that window, leaving me without heat after I had already turned down other companies due to my exising appointment with them. The best they would offer as a rescheduled appointment was not for another month.
I took a chance on a company without any reviews and this is the result. Call them at your own risk.
