Best Water Heater Repair in Washington DC

Reddick & Sons Plumbing Service
We received a referral from our fireplace company whom we loved (Williams Services Fireplace) and could not be happier to have a found a wonderful circuit of home services businesses through them - RIDDICK AND SONS being one of the top among them.

We have used their services at least half a dozen in our old condo and new house after recent move. From broken garbage disposals, to new water heaters, bathroom plumbing, and vent cleaning/HVAC. We have found them to be competent, respectful, considerate, and on time every time we have worked with them.

They have been incredibly honest about what work needs to be done and to what extent. For example, when our garbage disposal went out they came for a service call and it wasn't even broken but had accidentally come unplugged. They weren't even going to charge us for the service call... So we hired them on the spot for several other nonpressing issues we had had.

I had a few nuisance issues to address, including water hammering and a leaking shower diverter. Billy quickly identified and fixed the causes of all the issues. He even recommended a less costly workaround for the shower diverter.

Drymount Air Plumbing Service
After one HVAC company came out (and charged me) telling me the noises coming from my system would require a replacement, I tried Drymount in hopes for a fix, opposed to a new system. The system is not tremendously old and has had regular maintenance so I found needing a new system hard to believe.
Sean came out and replaced the motor the same day. He charged a very fair price (extremely fair if you compare it to the price of a new system), was friendly, and remained covid conscious the entire time he worked.
Thanks for the honest work!

Muhammad is indeed an exceptional plumber, as well as a nice, honest guy.  We've hired him a few times for our plumbing needs (gas leak, leaky pipes, dishwasher drain issue, etc), and he's always gotten the job done at a reasonable price.  We rely on Muhammad for our plumbing needs, and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a top notch plumber.

District Capital Services Plumbing Service
Donzelle was awesome.  We had an emergency plumbing situation (backup flowing up through my tenant's shower drain...pretty gross), and Donzelle was the first person to respond to my requests.  His communication was excellent throughout, his prices were fair, and he responded immediately.  He was also able to work with the tenant to find a time that worked best for everybody for follow-up work.  He didn't try to upsell or pressure us based on the situation and his quality of work was fantastic.  Sent pictures and updates throughout, cleaned up, and my tenant also reported that he was very satisfied.  Super professional, 5 stars.

Opata Plumbing Services Plumbing Service
Had a sump pump fail and they came and did a same day emergency replacement. I originally reached out to Opata for a second opinion bc I honestly don't know much about plumbing and they agreed with the other company that the sump pump needed to be replaced. Price was about $150 less than what the other company quoted me so I went with Opata. I had a million questions before and after the new sump pump was installed and they were super responsive and gave detailed answers to each question. I really appreciated this. Us first time home owners need help so it was great to not feel annoying for having a lot of questions.

Allen Geoffrey's Handyman Services Plumbing Service
Received four quotes for three major home projects: A complete master bathroom remodel, a new deck, and replacement of a drop ceiling with sheetrock and repair of a water-damaged wall in a guest bedroom.
The first three quotes were from high end remodelers. A friend recommended Allen Geoffrey's Handyman Services to us (she had just had her bathroom remodeled). Geoff and his crew (Mark and Brian) came out to survey the jobs. They spent more time with me going over what work we wanted and what our major concerns were. They suggested a comprehensive plan of attack from top to bottom. We were consulted at every step of each of the projects to ensure that our expectations and design elements were incorporated.
Their price quote came in thousands (yes, thousands) of dollars less than the three previous quotes. While they don't provide the design assistance of the high end contractors, they met us at a big box contractor store and helped us color-coordinate our design interests. They took care of ordering all the various pieces parts needed and got us a significant discount on materials.
First, they replaced the deck to install flashing (that the previous home owner neglected to do), that led to the water damage in the guest bedroom. The deck was brought up to code and revealed serious problems with the previous deck installation.
After the deck was done, the crew split off into two teams, one working on the master bathroom, the other, working on the guest bedroom.
The crew took care of hauling off all old materials and cleaned up after each day. The work was first-rate.
As with any major home project, unexpected/unforeseen problems arise. While removing the water-damaged sheetrock in the guest bedroom, major water damage was discovered to the exterior wall. Geoff gave me a very reasonable labor estimate to repair the wall. That wall is now the strongest in the house.
They show up when expected, every day, until the job is done.  They go beyond what is expected to ensure that the client is happy with the direction the project is headed.
I highly recommend these master plumbers. I guess my highest endorsement is that, when our kitchen cabinets come in, Geoff and his crew will be doing our complete kitchen remodel (again, coming in thousands of dollars less than the high-end contractors). If you need any work done to your home, give them a call. They will not disappoint you.
And, Geoff, Mark, & Brian, our new master bathroom looks and functions beyond our expectations. Thank you!

Sila Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing Plumbing Service
Had these guys about a week ago.  Service was cleaning vents not for placing finger prints and marks on the walls.  Slightly sloppy work.  Promise to wash your hands and watch the marks on my walls, and I promise to get better paint.  Had to stop the young guy from dragging the cord around the corner of my wall.  Even left fingerprints on the ceiling.  I too received the spiel of getting some extra work done and it could be cheaper if they do it right then and there (to put you on the spot).  Maybe some truth or maybe not, I wasn't ready to drop an extra $1500 that night

Snell Home Services Plumbing Service
We setup Snell for a routine heating system check in early October. The technician, Vince, came out to check our furnace and heat pump system in the attic. After scaring us by saying the heat pump wouldn't make it through the winter and warned that it may start leaking at some point. He leaves us with brochures on new Lennox systems and says a replacement is probably around $8 to $10k. Just two days later we find a massive water leak in our upstairs guest bathroom ceiling. The water has also started dripping down to the ground floor above our kitchen.

Upon inspection I find that the main condensation drainage pipe for the heat pump (when running in AC mode) was left disconnected so all the condensation water would drain into the backup drainage pan. Furthermore, the backup pan drain pipe was also disconnected which let the water flow directly onto our drywall ceiling through the insulation in the attic.

I call Snell immediately on Sunday after finding the damage, and they wouldn't send anyone out to look at it. I call them back in minutes to tell them we found a six inch bubble of water also in our kitchen ceiling and they still don't offer to send anyone out to check and make sure the leaking has stopped. Instead they leave our sales appointment setup for the next day on a Monday and send the same technician out Monday around noon to look at it. They damage the ceiling and can't get someone here until noon which is bad enough already.

The technician thinks he accidently tripped over the main pipe, and says he did notice the backup pipe also disconnected but didn't do anything about it. He didn't mention it at all after being up in our attic which is unprofessional and the hallmark of bad service for a basic heating system safety inspection. What are we even paying for if you don't notice basic obvious problems with the system like a disconnected drain pipe?

So after the technician reconnects the drain pipes, and leave 3 inches of water in the massive drain pan in our attic, we get a visit from David Snell, Jr to talk about replacing the heating system. When he arrives at the house, he is dubious about the damage and says it's not bad and they'll fix it. He seems actually annoyed that we as the homeowners are so angry about the damage and he plays it off as being unaware of it until right then.

The next day they finally get a construction crew in who finds a lot more water left sitting in our kitchen ceiling and the drywall starting to separate from the rafters. Took over a week of ripping our drywall and repair to get things back to normal.

Meanwhile we have a child with pre-asthma symptoms who is now exposed to dusty drywall work and painting due to this incompetent company. But that's ok, they don't care about that, they're only concerned with whether we're going to buy a heating system from them.

On the same Tuesday they start the repair work, I also receive a tone-deaf email from David Snell, Jr. with an estimate to replace the heat pump for $10,000 while I'm staring at a 4 foot hole in our kitchen ceiling. They made ZERO effort to compensate us for this damage. Not even a courtesy of taking anything off the price for literally damaging our home and causing undue burdens on our children and family.

After the ordeal, which severely disrupted our home for over a week, we get nothing more than a sorry from the company and claims that they have a great reputation and we should be happy they even fixed the damage at all. I had to personally demand the refund for the original heating service.

Stay away from companies that over-sell their reputation to mask their below average service and inflated prices.

There is nothing stand-up about Snell. It's entirely possible the pipes were left disconnected and we were warned about leaking to scare us into a new system. Maybe their plan went wrong because I climbed up in the attic to find the problem instead of their technician.

My wife called the office to talk to Andy and left him a message, he never returned the call after this ordeal was done. Very unprofessional. I have reached out to them numerous times and given them chances to make this right for us as customers and all I get is replies about their awesome reputation and how this doesn't usually happen.

Terrible company. Never again.

W.L. Staton Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Plumbing Service
They came out today... and I cant say enough wonderful things. I'd give 10 stars if I could.  I have a shower in a bathtub that had been REBATHED 10 years ago... and I was fearing the worst... that the tile would have had to be torn out.  On Friday, I called and JT set up an 8AM appointment for today (Monday).  Crew of two arrived on time, no BS.. said that a cartridge' was all that was needed.  WHEW!!! The bottom line... its so hard to find a company that is honest and trustworthy... who shows up on time... and does the work at a very moderate price.  W L Staton is that kind of company.  They are now my plumbers for life.  Only a fool would call a company with a name that rhymes with Ben The Plumber!!!

J F Plumbing and Heating Plumbing Service
The technician came into our home and did not even acknowledge our hellos or greetings which made us feel very uncomfortable.

When it came to look at our leak he was very unsure as to how to proceed, often asking us which parts of our walls and ceiling we would like for him to cut. He moved very slowly and did not give us straight answers about the source of the leak, wavering between possibilities.   Ultimately he was unsure as to the source of the leak.

He said he could not do the repair on the same day (although we had been advised this would be possible when we made the appointment) due to him not having 1/2 inch CPVC pipes in the truck, but said he could wait for someone else to join him in two hours to do a same day repair.  He advised we would pay for his time waiting the two hours, at $125/hr.  We politely declined.

The gentleman also took calls and was on his phone during our job.

$350 for two hours of plumbing at a glacial pace.  Never again.

DB's Plumbing and Drain Plumbing Service
Outstanding business and great service. On his first visit he assessed the situation and offered suggestions since we weren't sure what we needed. The service provided was efficient, and he did a very thorough job replacing our old hardware. Was pleasant to work with and will be using them again. Thanks DB's plumping!

Heil Plumbing Plumbing Service
If I could, I'd give 4 stars for the service. Great service. The one star is for the PUNISHINGLY HIGH PRICE Heil charges- I second the other review that says Heil charges twice the price.

We bought a water heater separately. AO Smith 500 series with 12 year warranty.

I called Heil to ask them how much they charge to install a water heater- ball park range--- how much is labor. They said they can't give that price over the phone. 4 days later, the tech comes out to install. He said it would take him 2 hours to install, and the price would be $1350!!!

I asked for an itemization of the costs- how much is labor, how much is parts? He said they just charge a flat rate that covers everything. Keep in mind, we already have the water heater. We just wanted them to connect it.

Hubby needed hot water, so I felt held hostage- and paid their $1350 for two hours of labor, a couple of copper pipes and the little blue water reservoir. See pictures.

So, if you call Heil to find out how much they charge to install a water heater you buy yourself, and they say they can't tell you over the phone, be forewarned it's a bundled flat rate of $1350.

Also, I asked them how much their hourly rate is for other work... $250/hour. That is the HIGHEST PRICE I have ever heard of. We're going back to Millersville Plumbing- they do great work at a much more reasonable price.

Thomas E Clark Plumbing Service
No one in the history of home ownership wants to hear the words your boiler needs to be replaced. No one. But after 30 years our gas boiler had finally given up the ship. And lucky for us friend had recommended Thomas E Clark to us a couple of years before. They are professional, efficient and they explained exactly what was needed. They installed the new boiler, took the titanic relic away with them and cleaned up the work site. Fabulous. Courteous and professional staff!
