Claymore Residential Services Plumbing Service
Andrew installed a new chandelier in our foyer.  He was fast, efficient and did what seemingly 3 other contractors couldn't for a very fair and reasonable price.  I would highly recommend and we will definitely plan to call Andrew in the future.

John Nugent & Sons Plumbing Service
Let me first state that I have no experience with HVAC systems.

Early in June of 2011 my condo was having issues with the AC, and my property manager wasn't able to give me a quick response as to what was the problem as everyone else in my building had functioning AC. I called John Nugent and Sons due to some good reviews on Yelp and elsewhere.

I was given a 4 hour window for the tech to come bye and look at my system. He was nearly an hour late. When he arrived, he waved his hand over the vent, noticed that there was air coming out, but not cold. He then took a flashlight to the motor and pipes then stated that he couldn't do anything as it was a building problem. He stated that the property manager had to make the adjustments and left within 10 minutes. He noted that he was not allowed to make adjustments to the unit as the property had to maintain it.

Info was already given to the rep during the initial phone call. 1. Air was coming out, but it wasn't cold. 2. It was a condo unit. 3. Others in the building had AC.

So I was left boiling on the 3rd floor. The next day, I decided to look around myself, as I wasn't happy with such a weak assessment. I pulled off some tape around the valves, as they were covered, and the tech never even tried to peel anything off to see the valves or lines. I found a small pressure valve on both lines, which I proceeded to release and heard a bubbling sound and a sound of water filling up. Seconds later, the line got cold.

Perhaps it was too simple of a task for the tech to do, and wouldn't justify him staying to do such a general task, or since he was already an hour late, he didn't want to get stuck in rush hour traffic. (12-4 window, didn't arrive till 5) Regardless, I was very upset at the lack of effort by the company. Especially since there is a 95 dollar visit fee.

So I get the $95 visit fee invoice in the mail about a few days after, so I called the company to try to speak to a Customer Service Manager. I left a message on his phone expressing my dissatisfaction and asked for my call to be returned. A month passed, and no call. Then I get another invoice. I called back and leave another message in the general mailbox for anyone to respond to, and explain that this is the second time calling and for someone to please call me back. Well nearly 2 weeks pass, and another invoice. I remain calm and try to get a professional call back from the company, so I call and try to leave another message as no one is at their desk.

Not only has the company showed me a lazy and unresponsive approach to business, but extremely unprofessional. I understand there is a premium on goods and services in DC (I've lived here nearly 30 years) but a level of commitment and good customer service is still key in my book.

I may edit the review should they ever return my phone calls.

Look elsewhere for HVAC/Plumbing work.

Michael & Son Services Plumbing Service
Absolutely horrible customer service.  It's one thing for a contracting firm to genuinely get behind on completing projects, but its another thing all together to be downright negligent in thoughtful communication.  Michael & Son was scheduled to provide a paid estimate for a lighting and HVAC project at my home today between noon-4pm.  I went through the trouble of having a family member stay in my house from noon today.until 5pm.  A complete waste of my family's time waiting for 4 hours and then getting a call from the technician at 5:15pm saying they were just going to begin traveling to my house.  It takes a lot of audacity for a company to ask anyone to wait on them for 6+ hours!!!   Not only were they completely negligent in communication, I had to pull out of meetings at work to call them and try to get them to at least be proactive about communicating.  Needless to say, a company that can't communicate and deliver on providing an estimate deserves none of my business.

M&SS - Please get your act together and be a reliable service provider.
