Brian B Quick Plumbing Service
Best plumbers in DC. They re-plumbed my entire house. They always left me with a working bathroom and worked around me living in the house. They were meticulous about cleaning up and the work was well done. There were some issues with a water heater component failing (no fault of theirs) they replaced it free of charge and dealt with the warranty. So helpful!!

Clover Services Plumbing Service
I called Clover quick as my stellar countertop folks ripped out my disposer and faucet leaving me high and dry. Clover responded quickly, honored my yelp coupons, and sent Tom H., the miracle worker to save the day. Would highly recommend and will use them again.

John Nugent & Sons Plumbing Service
Please do yourself a favor and use another company.  Once you sign on the dotted line all decent customer service goes right out the window.  I had an entire HVAC system replaced to the tune of $16 K.  And yet all I got was rude, impatient and misogynistic service managers.
I had several problems during the install (heating element not attached properly, air conditioner not installed all the way) and the equipment (a faulty thermostat) and each time i was told that I was imagining it.  I have undertaken several home renovations and this was by far the worst experience i have ever had.
Take your business and money elsewhere.

Bowman's Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning, & Electrical Plumbing Service
These guys were great to work with.  We had a heating and A/C system replaced last week. The guys who came out to install showed up on time and finished an hour early.  They couldn't be nicer.  I even had to reschedule this appointment once and they were very cool about it.  Didn't give me a hard time.

I highly recommend this business!!

Duvall's Plumbing Service
My AC unit had a refrigerant leak. I called them, and the repair men arrived same day within a couple hours.

They didn't try to up-sell me on anything, gave me 3 choices (refill it, refill it and add a dye to see if they can pinpoint the leak, or replace the whole HVAC system as it's old and the leak might be in an un-repairable spot and would require replacement anyways). We discussed the choices, I chose one, they explained the process, answered a few of my questions (they were very knowledgeable).

Prices were Fairfax-fair (i.e. not cheap, but no price gouging either). This will likely be my new HVAC go-to company.

Pablo is whip smart, and has an extraordinary work ethic. He uncovered problems a previous repairman caused and was generous in teaching me how to do some basic maintenance myself. Wish I'd come across his number sooner!

Bottom line up front: Buyer beware; contractor may provide inaccurate information that could cost you money.

Carlos performed a series of plumbing work on our newly purchased home on April 2nd of 2021 (totaling $3,244); for one of the projects under the kitchen sink, he identified a small leak coming from the reverse osmosis system. This was I and my wife's first home not on public water, so we were unfamiliar with some of the systems in the house relating to water. Carlos stated that we had a water filtration system in the basement, so the reverse osmosis system was redundant, so it could be removed to stop the leak under the sink. We took him at his word and he removed and disposed of the system.

Months later (October 2021), while maintaining and troubleshooting other plumbing issues and working with new contractors, we are educated that we have a water SOFTENING system, not a water filtration system. Even further, if we did have a water filtration system, it still would not perform the same function of removing microscopic particulates as the reverse osmosis system. With a new born in the home, we are extremely leery of any kind of threat to their health due to impurities in drinking water.

Upon calling Carlos to make him aware that he provided us the wrong information and it is going to cost us to install a new system, he made up a series of excuses for why he either didn't remember telling us that it was redundant or that we chose not to install another system at the time. When I explained to him that this didn't make sense and that if we had a malfunctioning system in the home that was necessary, he certainly would have tried to secure the business of installing it and we certainly would have at least asked for a quote. He could not defend why he would not have done this other than to say you had a lot of projects happening in the house, so I didn't think you were going to do it. This is disingenuous because very shortly after performing the work that they came to do, we requested and he provided a quote for additional work (drywall) that we wanted done in our basement.

I would have given a much higher score for this company had they taken responsibility for the inaccurate and wrong information/advice that they provided for the reverse osmosis system (simple admission, never thought they would fix it), but Carlos simply would not. He stated if you need a new system, you should install one. This is a shame because the other work appeared to be good. Beware of this contractor; if the work that they do for you is erroneous or if they provide you bad information, they will not take responsibility.

Sila Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing Plumbing Service
This company is a complete and total scam and you should avoid them. I wish I would have read their recent YELP reviews before hiring them. I hired Sila 5 years ago for some small plumbing work and was very happy with the experience then. Given my previous experience, I signed a service plan with them last year- BIG MISTAKE.

Our heat stopped working and a technician came out (past the service window they confirmed with us) to investigate. After spending a few minutes with the outdoor air condenser, he came back and said you have leaks in multiple places and it needs to be replaced can can't be repaired. We will need to send out a different technician to give you a quote for replacing the unit When I started asking more questions he called someone and came back 5 minutes later and said Good news, I can fix the unit and he proceeded to give us a written estimate for a bit over $1,800 for the repair. Something seemed off about this experience and I couldn't understand how in 5 minutes time it changed from, spend $5K to replace a 6 year old compressor to suddenly, no problem, it can be repaired.

I hired a more reputable company to come out and look at the system and within a few minutes they conducted a simple leak test which clearly showed where the leak was coming from-- it was so obvious. They also said the last technician did not replace the screws to the fan unit and that they where nowhere to be found on the ground or around the unit. He also said another part had been removed and not properly screwed back on. The kicker, this other HVAC company quoted us  $800 for the same repair job. Mind you, this other HVAC company is a major licensed/insured company so it's not like I'm getting a better deal by having an inexperienced small company do the repair. They also could not understand why the other technician suggested the unit would need to be replaced, especially given the repair was not too terribly involved (about 3 hours of labor) for a unit which is less than 6 years old.

Stay away and call someone else for HVAC work.

These guys are AWESOME! They made time in the middle of a heatwave to get my AC investigated and promptly repaired, faster than I was quoted anywhere else. My technician was communicative, unobtrusive, and friendly. I can not recommend these folks enough, big thanks to the team at Thomas E Clark!

Seems like they are trying to rip you off. They charge $99 to come to your house and refuse to give you pricing estimates. I am trying to find out how much freon is per pound and they want $99 just to tell you the price. Horrible business practice to try to charge unlimited amounts when they get to your house.

Magnolia Plumbing Heating & Cooling Plumbing Service
I am disappointed in this business, after one good interaction with them and one extremely poor one. Their prices are outrageous, and they are unwilling to negotiate even after I paid the $75 fee and called to confront them with many other more competitive pricing options available from their competitors.

Initially, we had them come to replace a dripping faucet in our shower. The technician who came to our house was friendly and professional, he took apart the shower handle and valves and discovered he needed a different part, and so returned a day later to complete the job. The price was steep but not far above what we'd expected, living in a large city. Overall, a 4 star experience.

So, when our garbage disposal broke, we called them back and Felix came the next day. He pulled out his price book, and quoted me $549 to replace it. The disposal itself costs $85 (we had looked it up beforehand), so I told him this seemed outrageous, more than double what we'd anticipated paying. He showed me the price in the book, at which point it magically became only $504, still far higher than I felt this job was worth. He told me there was no way he could negotiate pricing, but I should try calling the company. I did this, and was told that the price is non-negociable, that they can't account for what all those other plumbers are quoting me for the job, but that I should be assured their pricing is competitive. Unfortunately for them, this is just not the case, as calls to 3 other plumbers assured me, and even with the lost $75 our total replacement cost will still be below their outrageous quote. Over the phone I was offered the discount price of only $469 if we are willing to become members for only $125 more. Obviously I will never be doing business with this company again, and I suggest you don't either.

A Better Plumber Plumbing Service
I had an issue with my plumbing backing up so I called them and they came over to inspect. I thought I was on city sewage, so they told me they were going to snake the pipes then if I wanted the warranty, they would have to video scope the pipes. Well an hour later they tell me I have a septic system, tell me to get it pumped, and charge me over $1000 AND DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING. Ridiculous. Sounds like another typical St Mary's county experience.

I wish I could rate them on their service, as I would like to have had them do some work for me. However, I scheduled an appointment and was given a morning service window, and after coordinating with my neighbor and both of us taking off of work to receive the plumbers, no one ever showed up or called. When I called, they said they'd have to reschedule to another day. Very disappointed as I used a full vacation day to accommodate this no call/no show.

Real Plumbers® Plumbing Service
They should change their name to Real Shysters.  I bought a brand new GE water heater from Home Depot and had it professionally installed, but it didn't work.  So I called GE and they said that they need to send one of their GE certified companies to my house to take a look.  They said the closest company to my house is a company called Real Plumbers so they sent the service request to them.  When I called Real Plumbers to schedule it, the guy over the phone was trying to tell me that GE is not going to pay for anything if the installation was done wrong and that they would charge me for the visit.  I told him that we don't know what the problem is yet with the water heater but without even seeing it and not knowing what the problem is he kept on insisting that the installation was done wrong and that I need to agree to a $129 diagnosis fee.  I then put him on hold and called GE on the other line.  GE told me to get him on the line and they told him directly not to charge me anything and that they would pay for the visit.   Then when their technician came to diagnose the water heater, he kept on telling me that I need to give him a check for the visit and that GE would not cover it.  I told him that I will call GE again to make sure but he told me not to call them because it's a waste of time and that they're not going to pay for anything.  So I called GE anyway and again they agreed to pay for the visit and anything that's wrong with the water heater.  By now both the guy over the phone and the tech that came out were relentlessly trying to get me to pay them directly for the visit.  So moving on the tech claimed that I need two heating elements and said that he has the parts in his truck so I told him to go ahead and replace them.  He told me that it would cost over $300 and that I need to pay for it because GE will not cover the parts and labor.  And again I called GE and again they said that they would in fact pay for it and I passed the phone over to the tech so they can tell him directly.

The next morning I still didn't have any hot water.  I called Real Plumbers and the guy over the phone was extremely rude and told me to call GE and that it wasn't their problem.  He said as long as the water is warm, they did their job and they didn't care if the water is not even hot enough to take a shower.  Basically when they realized that they couldn't rip me off, they decided not to help me out anymore.
