After Hours Services Plumbing Service
We, erm, accidentally drilled into a water pipe :-(
Contacted After Hours Services, got a text message back quickly. Set up a time for the next day (the water was turned off, so it was annoying but not an emergency).
Will came out. Found the problem. Patched the leak, by splicing in a piece of copper pipe. Good work; fair price; nice guy!

Fixer - Seattle Plumbing Service
Final Update: Fixer was finally able to come out to my house but unfortunately, they weren't able to fix any of my electrical problems. The good news is that they didn't charge me for the visit, but I had to get an electrician in to fix the issues (turns out it was a bad switch causing one of the issues and a loose wire in the back of another switch causing a separate issue.

The person who came to look at the issues was nice and very courteous, so that's a plus. He also told me that the issues during the storm has caused the company to re-think their automated system for booking and communicating with customers. I'm sure when this works it's great, but when it doesn't it's a huge PITA for you as a customer so I hope they get this resolved soon.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend Fixer for electrical or complicated issues but would give them another chance for more simple or straightforward issues.

For that I'm increasing my review from two to three stars.

Update: Fixer returns my call and will be sending a manager out to see if he can fix my  issues. The person I talked to on the phone was apologetic and much more transparent about the real reasons for canceling, which turned out were not related to weather at all.

I'll update one more time based on how well this is resolved.

Seatown Electric Plumbing Heating Air Plumbing Service
I contacted Seatown for a quote on AC, fully expecting them to cost more (based on Yelp reviews and the responses from Seatown). I figured that I was interested to see how much more it would cost to go with a reliable, honest company. They did cost more, which I was fine with, but I also found them to be very dishonest.

The salesman did not come with him own ladder, so we had to get my ladder out to get into our attic to look at where the AC unit would go (next to the furnace). Even then, he only poked his head in and didn't really look at it. The salesmen then spent quite a bit of time explaining how it was installed incorrectly and unprofessionally. He also made sure to let me know that my furnace was a single stage, single speed and that it wasn't very nice. Completely unprompted, he also told me that my wife wouldn't be happy with our water heater (even though she is) and spent about half of his pitch trash talking the other companies we were considering.

After he left I did some research on my furnace. It turns out that, according to the manual for my furnace, it was installed correctly. My furnace is also a nice two stage, variable speed furnace. I emailed him asking how he knew my furnace (which he only saw from a distance) was single stage and single speed. He doubled down and said he knew the model number. When pressed it was clear that he didn't know the model number and that he was either incompetent or lied to make the original installer look bad (at the expense of making me worry that I bought a crappy home).

Overall, it was a terrible experience. After all of the lying and misinformation that I could verify, I wouldn't have chosen Seatown even if it was the same price. It's possible that this specific salesman doesn't accurately represent the company. But even then, there are indicators that the company is dishonest. He gave us a flyer that showed their HVAC competitors and their yelp/angie's list reviews. It showed that they have 4.5 stars and everyone else had 2.5-3 stars. That would be fine, except for the fact that they left out the other companies that have 4-5 stars (including Better Air NW, Black Lion, Overlake Heating and Air Conditioning, etc.). I only talked with Better Air NW (which gets far better reviews that Seatown) and Black Lion, but both of them seem far more honest and I would choose either of them over Seatown in a heartbeat. If the company prints such a deceptive flyer, it indicates to me that the dishonesty goes beyond this individual salesman.

Again, I was willing to consider higher costs. But if you justify higher costs by touting your superior reputation, you better be honest with your customers.

Dean's Home Repair Plumbing Service
Dean was able to come and replace my water heater (and also take a look at an electrical issue I had) over the holidays on short notice. I talked to a few other folks, and while Dean wasn't the cheapest, I felt that I would be taken care of really well with Dean and double bonus to take care of the electrical issue.

When he and his helper were at my house, they were very clean and left the area in good order. I would recommend Dean to anyone!

South West Plumbing Service
Only had a clogged drain & a snake jammed in the drain, as I tried to fix it myself.  Jordan took my info & was very efficient.  Got another call about 30 minutes from Andrew asking if they could come earlier & I appreciate that Andrew. Vincent showed up & was very professional, human, compassionate, competent & nice!  THANK YOU to ALL!

Hunt's Services Plumbing Service
We had a plugged toilet and I called around to find a company to get it flowing again. Hunt Services could not provide me with a quote as they said they had to come out and see the issue. The technician arrived and provided me 3 quotes. The first for $280 to use a Kmart brand fish tape about 3 feet long because nothing would get all the way through the toilet. The second for $780 because if the first would not work, he would have to pull the toilet Its the only way the 3rd for $1200 to replace the toilet because he said was construction grade and the problem would only repeat.

I asked if he had a longer snake and he said no. The Cheap 3 ft was the only thing that would get through the toilet.

Danny was rude and condescending and believing that because he was right there, I would concede and have him fix the problem and he would walk away with up to $2,000.

I declined.

I found a local plumber in Burien, he was out that night at 8:30pm. He had a snake that would go past the toilet and unclogged the drain in 10 minutes. All that for $180.

Be aware that Hunt Services is only on the hunt for your money.

1. No quote
2. Layer after layer of bids knowing full well that the 1st quote would not work.
3. Trying to force an upgrade (my toilet has worked flawlessly for over 5 years)
4. Rude technicians who obviously are on commission and only care about getting their commission.

As a small business owner - I am embarrassed for them as they come across as folksy small businesspeople, when, in my opinion, they are simply opportunist praying on the misfortunes of others.

Get a few bids - don't be desperate and save yourself thousands of dollars by staying away from Hunt Services. Thats just my opinion.

Beacon Plumbing - Seattle Plumbing Service
Took advantage of my wife while I am away at medical school, charging over $1100 for a job should have at most been half that. The part could be purchased for  less than $120 and they were there for an hour-hour an half - seizing on the fact our house has radiant heat so she was desperate to get it fixed right away, and scared by quoting a $3300 tank replacement as the alternative.  Do not use them.  Despite the feedback they keep responding with, they use predatory tactics and pressured her into moving forward to get it done. BBB will be getting a call

A Advanced Septic & Construction Services Plumbing Service
My septic system failed the inspection by another company who told me I need a new drain field. A Advanced Septic thinks it is repairable. Their crew is very competent and professional. It took a full day to get repair work done with job site clean. It has passed inspection. Thanks for the good work.

Beacon Plumbing Plumbing Service
A bit of pricey but they know exactly what they are doing.
My AC broke down on the hottest day of the century.  I called Beacon Plumbing and they sent Ned and Zerian to my house within couple days. They both are very professional. Just a few minutes, Ned found out exactly what was the issue. The only complaint is $292.75 + tax for diagnostic fee is quite a bit high. I totally understand about $75 for travel charge but it would be great if those amount can be able to deduct to the final bill.
Anyway,  my bill ended up almost $800 just to replace the capacitor :(
I would give it five stars for the service if they don't charge too much for diagnostic fee.

Black Hills Plumbing Service
There is a constant problem with my hvac mini splits. They cannot figure this out. Was promised new filters at 6 months and 1 year- to no avail. Manager is always on vacation. They will not refund my money or figure out what is wrong with the units. Very poor operation. Highly not recommend!!!  Now had to pay an additional amount for future service up front. Will not refund me that as well.
I have never been treated so poorly by a company. This is a lot of out of pocket. Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! THEY SEND OUT PEOPLE THAT HAVE ONLY WORKED THERE FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. THEY HAVE NO CLUE EITHER WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. THEY WOULD NOT.
