Best Drain Cleaning in San Francisco CA

I had a clogged kitchen sink and called a plumber that I previously used for a clogged bath sink that cost me over $1500 to fix. I tried them again to the same tune of $1500, with very little analysis of the problem. That's when I decided to call Ron at Beast Bay Plumbing. He personally came over,as he's the owner and could've sent one of his employees, but made the special trip to my home. He analyzed the problem immediately and fixed it for only a fraction of the other company. I highly recommend Beast Bay Plumbing, but would be very leery of hiring Oak Plumbing ever again.

The real estate agent picked a plumber out of the phone book, seemingly at random, and Mr. Rooter showed up to check the sewer compliance on the house we were going to buy. The guy showed up on time, did his job thoroughly, had all the proper equipment. He was very professional and seemed happy to explain what he was doing and what we needed to do. Came up with a quote for the job on the spot.

Unfortunately, their bid was about $1000 - $2000 more than any of the other plumbers we later contacted! According to the other plumbers we talked to, Mr. Rooter tends to pad their estimates with a lot of extras -- this may very well be the case. The guy was playing up the fact that Mr. Rooter's pretty big-time. They've been around for a long time, they've got multiple operations in their franchise, they have no problem getting compliance from the city, so on and so forth. Uh, if you do it correctly, getting compliance for your work  is a pretty *routine* procedure, don't you think? Of course, the plumber that can't guarantee compliance for their work isn't worth your time or money, but since any professional plumber is able to give you their word that they'll get your pipes to meet standards, Mr. Rooter really seemed to be grasping at straws in order to justify their outrageously high bid.

We were taking care of a flat in San Francisco for a friend, and the toilet was leaking. Two doors down, Tromborg Royal Plumbing were doing a job, and I walked over and asked if they could take a look when they were done. Instead, they followed me back to the flat and spent half an hour diagnosing and repairing the problem. I am still flabbergasted at the level of customer service. Very professional, and the nicest people I have met in SF!

We just found our new plumber.  Nick from Advanced Plumbing and Drain was fantastic.  We just installed a new 100 gallon, Bradford White commercial water heater in an apartment building and could not get it to work, it kept shutting off within the first couple of minutes. Nick was prompt with both phone calls and actual appointment and was able to resolve the problem we had in about 45 minutes. If my brother, who really knows his stuff and is a tough critic, can say that Nick is legit and great, you better believe he is. Thank you, thank you, thank you Nick! You have a new fan club and we plan to give you all our future business.

Looks like they fixed the Yelp listing, so back to a full 5-star review for Joven. But the map still shows Huntington Beach.

We found an issue on a Sunday morning with and upstairs toilet causing gurgling in a downstairs toilet.  The downstairs toilet also would not flush properly.  Trying to plunge the downstairs toilet...result was having sewage back flow into that toilet!  Contacted Excalibur and received a reasonable ballpark estimate and an appointment for two hours later.  Felix showed up on time and quickly assessed the issue.  After rooting the main line clean out, the problem still persisted.  Running a camera into the main line, Felix found the clog in a branch line.  Between driving the camera and the snake he was able to work the snake up into the branch with the clog and made quick work of it.  Would definitely recommend!

Almost immediately after posting this review, Saul called me up to give me a refund for my latest invoice and offered a really sincere apology.
Honestly I'm blown away by his honesty and integrity. He's definitely earned my respect and I'll continue looking forwards to working with him and five star plumbing in the future.
With as many plumbing issues i've had the past few years, Saul is the first and only one I can honestly say i have this much respect for.

I'm finally writing this review after calling Fivestar plumbing out for 2 separate quotes. I'm fairly disappointed in my latest experience after calling them back for a second job. Both Saul, and Fernando are really kind and good people to work with, so I really do not want to write a negative review (hence 3 stars), however after 2 subpar experiences.
I called them recently for a quick quote with Fernando and am currently very disappointed with the experience where he charged me $325 to give me blatantly incorrect information, and try to sell me on a $10k+ job for an issue that i've found out is free to fix.

Overall - i think they can do a good job on standard plumbing jobs. They charge you for a visit fee though, so i would NOT call them again for anything that i do not know the fix for or that i would not be willing to spend their visit fee amount on fixing.

Job 1: Lateral line replacement.
My HOA had this job done in winter of 2021. We had tree roots clogging up our entire lateral line to the building.
Initially Saul quoted us $12k to do a trenchless procedure and used a hydraulic press to pull a new lateral line through. They dug 2 ditches and within a few days had the new line all replaced.
The inspector came out and then told us that the fall of the line was insufficient. This is something I would have expected Saul and Fivestar to have been able to notice and address, so it was a little upsetting to hear that after already spending $12k, we were now going to need to trench up the entire thing anyways, and fix the slope. Saul then quoted us another $12k to trench up and fix the line, which we went with since we already had his team out here working on it.
We eventually had the inspector come out and give his approval. We have not had any issues since

Job 2: Tankless Water heater ignition error
I decided to call Fivestar plumbing again because I respected Saul and he seemed genuine even with the issues on our last job. When Fernando came, i explained my situation, explained what the error code was, and my assumption for what he could look at to help me fix it (replace the ignitor). He took a look at my gas line and decided that the issue was actually that my gas line to the water heater was shared with other appliances. He opened up the line so we could feel the pressure in the line - and it was perfectly fine, even though he insisted that it was low. We took a look at my neighbors line too (who hasn't had any issues), and it was exactly the same.
Fernando then proceeded to tell me that we would need to run an entire new line from the meter to the heater, and that it would cost me $10k+, but because i was a repeat customer they'd knock it down to $9k.

I just had another plumber come out to take a look (who actually does tankless water heater maintenance), and he immediately found the actual issue - pulled out the igniter plug, and showed me that it was slightly oxidized, which is why my heater would work sometimes, and other times failed to ignite. This is a free fix and i just needed to call the company for a replacement part.

Needless to say i'm pretty upset with my experience with Fernando, and that he ignored my request and charged me $325 to give me incorrect information and try to upsell me on a completely unnecessary job.

I admit, when i initially called, they told me that they do not do tankless water heater maintenance and I figured i'd have them come out to take a look anyways because i wanted to maintain a good relationship with the company. They did NOT mention that they charge a visitation fee on the call though which surprised me when I was presented with that invoice (I should have remembered).

Looking for an outstanding plumber? Edgar Amaya who owns and operates Pipe Arts Plumbing is just such a plumber. He recently completed installing an extended gas line from the meter to my kitchen. It  was not an easy job as he had to crawl through very tight spots in the attic in order to run the line. His attention to details is reflected in the quality job he did and in the way he cleaned up after he completed the job. When the city inspector came to sign off on the job he was full of compliments about the excellent job Edgar had done. I know I will call him again for other plumbing jobs. Liz C.

Joyous day- our household no longer leaks!

We first asked Zayah over to replace a pair of showerheads that were installed forty years ago and completely stuck on. He took care of us rapidly and efficiently, then took a look at the seven sinks we had that all were leaking. Based on his advice, we ordered appropriate faucets for all of them and asked him back.

That's where his work began. Our plumbing was a DISASTER. We had drains that fell apart when touched and handles that broke when turned. Significant time spent cutting out old drains, replacing angle stops, and having to go out to the local hardware store for necessary parts. (Such as the unexpectedly new drain. We'd already planned to replace four of the others and were prepared for those. Sigh.)

Zayah was amazing and worked us into his schedule as he could, especially given the expected and unexpected needs of our project. His rates are phenomenal and his work ethic top notch. We can't recommend his work enough!

Alexander did a fantastic job replacing our tankless water heater. United always offers unbeatable prices and a high quality of work to match. I'm very grateful to have access to their services and highly recommend them!

I worked with them on an HVAC job. They came out within a few days, were very knowledgeable, and helped me think through several solutions. They were able to do the work within a couple weeks, and did a great job at a good price. I'll definitely consider them for future work.

Johnny arrived within the two hour window they gave me when I spoke to Wizard plumbing on the phone. He and another guy were very courteous, and they patiently walked through all of our plumbing issues with me. Johnnie gave me an honest opinion and told me he wouldn't recommend repairing a hot water valve because of our old pipes. Said it would be risky because if something got damaged inside the wall it would be a much more expensive fix. He gave us another option for relieving the water pressure that'd be much easier (and free). He also fixed our clogged sink and toilet at no charge. He seemed like a very honest, reliable guy and if we decide to replace our old galvanized pipes soon we'll probably go with Wizard.

I highly recommend Alansi's Plumbing, we hired them to help with a shower that wasn't getting hot enough anymore. The first interaction was with the office staff and they were very responsive, friendly, and professional. They asked all the right questions and specifically asked for some photos of the shower to prepare for the appointment. They gave us an early heads up, based on the photos, that two visits might be necessary because the parts for this shower (from a company that went out of business 10 years ago) would be hard to find.

At the appointment they correctly diagnosed the problem (thermostatic cartridge needed replacement) and also provided some guidance on alternative solutions such as complete replacement when we asked about that. We ended up ordering and installing the broken part ourselves, and that fixed the problem right away. All throughout, the people at Alansi's were super helpful and we would highly recommend them.

We had previously had another plumbing company (Heise's) take a look at this problem, and they were more expensive but did not diagnose or fix the problem, just mucked around with the supply valves a bit, which raised the temperature marginally.

I am very happy with my recent service from Oakland Rooter. I had problems with a clogging toilet and slow-draining bathtub. Oakland Rooter was able to offer an appointment quickly. Andre S. came out the next day, investigated the problem, and suggested we start by using the rooter on the tub drain rather than taking more drastic measures. He removed a clog of hair and I've had no problems in the past couple of weeks. I hope I don't need their service again anytime soon, but would definitely call them if I did.

Fabulous. The team did an amazing job - and were friendly and *extremely* well organized to boot. They replaced our completely-blocked (by tree roots) sewer main line in a day.  Could not believe how smoothly the whole thing went.  

Bottom line: Finding out you have to replace a sewer line can be stressful.  But these guys have the whole process down to a T and were a pleasure to work with.  We now have a fully functional sewer with overflow protection, are no longer worrying about plumbing back-up fiascos, and the invoice matched the estimate exactly.  Whew!  Thanks Advanced Trenchless!

I can only second the good words others have posted--quick, reliable and knowledgeable. I had a sewer clog recently and they sent a team the same day and work was done properly. When I called for advice about a secondary problem, Dave came out himself the day I called.  There was no additional charge.  I have also used the company for indoor plumbing problems with the same successful results.  This group is a true find--you will not do better!

Frank is an absolute pleasure to work with! He always picks up his phone, is professional, and does a fantastic job! We just moved into a house in Pacifica and he's been by about 4-5 times to do varies jobs. Overall we're so happy to have such a reliable plumber close by! Highly recommend!

We had Kenny replace a kitchen faucet for us. Prompt clear communication, fast scheduling, fair prices and did a great job. Highly recommended!

My husband and I were very happy with their service.  We called them out for a clogged drain.  The man who came was so quick and efficient--he had our laundry room drain cleared in no time, and then he proceeded to fix two other items that had been troubling us for a long time: a loose faucet handle in the bathroom and a leaking/dripping hot water heater relief thingy.  All this he resolved in a single service call for the minimum trip charge.  We couldn't have been happier.

Wow what a shocker!! I thought I did my research on finding a honest plumber. That's my take on this zinging anyway. I never got a written quote I did get a verbal and that was a mistake i wont make again. $275 for the first trip that was unsuccessful no big deal its just a clog so they come back the next day and started to do the work and they figured around $2400 or so ouch! So i needed this to be done so go ahead. It turned out to be more work than they thought so when the work was competed i got the invoice $3700 son of a B**** what the F*** so to cost about $400 dollars an hour never again will i do that again with out a written est and if the story is no that's not how we do it RUN as fast as you can. The work looked solid and the workers were nice and professional but the taking in the shorts really changed how i will ever trust any trade with out it in a written estimate again. Oh by the way the owner did change his invoice after all $3350  thanks .
