Best A/C Repair in Portland OR

We bought our home less than two years ago and it has always had issues with the sprinkler system.  The company that apparently had last serviced our system had horrible reviews on both Yelp and Google, so I spent some time doing my research.  I came across Jacob and Bridge City Backflow and I reached out. It is his busy season, so it took a few days to hear back, but I am so glad that we decided to wait and use him (based on his glowing reviews).  He did not disappoint! Jacob is friendly, patient, knowledgeable and is going to do everything he can to ensure that things turn out the best for his customers while clearly explaining what he is doing.  He also did not try to upsell or nickel and dime us, which he easily could have done being that I am definitely not an expert when it comes to sprinkler systems.  He definitely understands that solid business comes through happy, returning customers and their referrals. Last week we had Patrick from Clog Pro come out to fix an outdoor drain that had backed up. I had tried clearing & snaking it myself, but just could not get it unclogged. He was able to fix it without any problems, and was super communicative & friendly while doing so. We just got a fixer-upper house last year, so have met with a ton of contractors - he was one of the most pleasant I've dealt with. 5 star service.

The reason I give only a 4-star review is:
1. Little bit expensive - $219 minimum for a simple 20 minute job.
2. Appointment was something like 4-5 days after scheduling. Considering this drain was flooding into our house after storms, if there had been any other heavy rain forecast in the meantime we'd have needed a different company unless they do emergency scheduling (which wasn't mentioned).

I'll probably go with them next time if the scheduling works out just because excellent service is hard to find.

Re-piping my house was not something I wanted to do. It was a job of necessity. We have a house built in the 2000s with CPVC pipe. I've had a number of plumbers out to the house since we bought it 5 years ago.. every single one describes this piping as a 'ticking time bomb'.

and our time was up. twice in 1 year we sprung a leak- and so we went forward with our re-pipe job.

So from the get go , when we sprung our first leak Repipe was great .. offered some fantastic advice that helped us get our insurance claim filed and paid when our insurance company was advising us to not file.

second leak a year later and they honored the quote they gave us a year prior, and also took off a fair amount to compensate for the work that was done during our first event.

They were quick , efficient and surgical .. we were prepared to repaint the entire interior of our house.. fearing the worst. In the end. We have some touch up work to do behind 2 toilets. The rest can wait.. behind the fridge, in our bedroom closets.. who cares.

Couldn't be more pleased right now.

Easy to make an appointment but their pricing is sort of ridiculous. Had them out last week for a simple kitchen sink drain assembly replacement because our new garbage disposal didn't fit. They charged us $70 to come out and look under the sink and then let us know they charge by the task. We were quoted over $600 and they also tried to sell us a $100 advantage plan. We went with another company who completed the job in 30 minutes and charged us 1/3 of the cost.

Just like his business' claim that he follows all guidelines during COVID-19, like him NOT wearing a mask both times he showed up to come into my home.

If Terry cannot read the Yelp request, is not following guidelines during a pandemic, and cannot repair a basic tub or sink leak he should be the last # you call for help.

Sean was fantastic at diagnosing a hot water heater issue we had in our Westmoreland home. He was able to appear the same day, narrow down the issue, order the part for us, and then returned immediately after to install it. Problem resolved in the first shot. Communications were always perfect, and he was respectful and courteous within our home while effecting the diagnosis and repair work.

What's more -- the entire hot water heater was installed by Sutherland originally, and they stood behind the warranty repair 100%. Jaw-dropping and unexpected!

I frequently am disappointed by the state of modern business and customer service in my everyday life -- so much so that I'm in disbelief when I encounter the top notch customer treatment as I received here. Sutherland will get first dibs on any upgrade, repair, or plumbing concern we have for the foreseeable future.

Kevin was great!  He not only answered his phone (which didn't happen with any of the other plumbers I called), but he was available to help and was very reasonably priced (another rarity).  I thought he was very thorough in diagnosing and fixing the problem with the disconnected pipes under my kitchen sink.  I'll definitely call him again and have already shared his number with friends.

This is a GREAT local business.  Keith at The Leak Detective went OUT OF HIS WAY to help me with an issue I was having that was outside of the scope of what he normally does.  Only someone with real concern for others would have helped me the way he did.  You can tell from interacting with him that takes his profession seriously and believes in helping others in need.  Thank you so much Keith for the help!

On time! In fact they were free sooner to help and look at the leak I called about and replaced/ toilet the same day.  Very thankful for the help and kindness of these guys!

Dave came out to help us with a gutter/drain problem.  To start with he came on short notice as I was in town to help my mother with some repairs.  We did not know what was causing the problem but he methodically worked it out to be some downspout blockage and slow drainss.  He also cleaned the gutters in the process.  I feel like he did more than I expected.  One drain line was badly plugged and it looked like it might have to be dug out but after an hour on that one drain he cleared it (and still charged me the same rate). When he left, everything worked perfectly.  I highly recommend his service

We have used them since we moved back to this area 9 years ago. They provide great and timely service and are very transparent about pricing. I highly recommend Simpson Plumbing if you need plumbing service/work done.

Finding a plumber that crawls under apartment buildings to fix a main sewer line is a challenge these days!  Many plumbers I contacted for this repair said they strickly work on new construction projects. Except Burfitt!  They do it all, and were very responsive and reliable, and did a great job.  Alan was great to work with.

Brent, son of the late Rex answered the phone promptly, called me back promptly after getting my details and came and left in a flash.  Nothing was obviously wrong with my water heater and he gave an explanation of how it worked and answered a couple questions I had.  This man deserves your business even if he didn't fix my problem as there was only a slight adjustment needed.  Not your typical plumber in a very good way.

Travis serviced us today. He was prompt and worked very fast. Installed a new under-sink garbage disposal which worked perfectly, and additionally replaced some of the old bendy pipes under the sink with straight ones. It drains much better now. It was 200 even for parts and labor, but he didn't break down the price any further than that. It seems reasonable enough? I don't know the average price for garbage disposal replacement.

In December I had an appointed scheduled for 12n.  By 12:30p, I called Pat (owner) to ask if he was on his way, he wasn't, was still knee deep in a job that was located an hour away!!  He never called ME to tell me he was going to be late, I had to call him.  By 3pm, still no show AND NO CALL!  I call Pat again asking when to expect him, he said he was leaving the job in 45, but he was still about an hour away.  He asks me Do you still want me to come out?  Well, yes I do!  I've been waiting this long, wasting my WHOLE day waiting around and I need to get this leak fixed!  He finally arrives at 5p!  He doesn't say much more than I'm sorry I'm late, does the work with an assistant, gets it done in 30.  I half expected Pat to give me a discount for my waiting and time wasted, but he didn't.  I told him how disappointed I was that he didn't offer.  He says I'll make it up to you.  Really?  When?  And four months later, nothing.  All talk.  The next day, I went outside to look at my faucet where the work was being done, and they left my outside faucet cover on the ground along with the old faucet handle.  

I will not be recommending this company to friends.   With lots of competition out there you would think they would care how they treat their customers.

I wish my experience was as good as the other Reviews.

Kenny McDonald did an amazing job with our heater and air conditioning. He explained everything and was very nice. We will ask for him again to come out if needed. He emailed everything to me so I could see the break down and I could print it out. Thank you Kenny for such great work. Sky Heating and Cooling are the best. We wouldn't have any other company come out. We are so happy now. We want Kenny only. :)

The first time I called, he was actually pretty good at responding. He came out assess the situation gave me options. He had me order the parts through the company as it was less expensive than him trying to find it.  Getting him back to install it was a little challenging but he fixed the issue that I had with a very old tub and very old leaky handles.

I told him I had another house I wanted him to work on, my own. It took a while to schedule, he's not good at calling back. The laundry sink was very slow. Occasionally it would backflow on my garage floor. He told me it was because the pipes were facing wrong where connected to kitchen sink and there was backflow when you ran the dishwasher and the laundry machine at the same time because the drainage pipe was faced in the wrong direction.

He cut a hole in the ceiling of my downstairs bathroom to fix the problem under the kitchen sink. Only that wasn't the problem. That was not why I was getting overflow. It turns out the laundry sink wasn't even connected.

Before all of this, he used a snake down the air pipe for the plumbing in the garage. It got stuck somewhere. He told me he would come back with someone with a scope to find out where it was stuck and what the problem actually was.  That was a month ago. I have called and left messages. I'm getting ready to sell my house and I need this fixed.

I'm now going with a different company who could do the scope and the fix. They are a little more expensive, but they called me back. I'm also having to hire a handyman to finish off the bathroom. I figure if I have to pay for someone else to get his snake out it's mine right?  He abandoned the job.

He was always acting like he was doing me a favor fitting me into his schedule. But why take the job if you're not gonna finish it?  Just tell me you're too busy and I'll go somewhere else.

We use River City for a number of commercial properties we manage in and around Portland.  River City has been professional, experienced, solution focused and communicative.  They are also very cognizant of the building's tenants and will work around schedules as to not be disruptive.  They have handled everything from basic plumbing, new installs, storm line jetting, jetting large clogs and scoping and mapping sewer lines.  Overall, they are great to work with and highly recommend.
