Roto-Rooter came to install the new dishwasher I had purchased at Home Depot.  This surprised me a little but the installer was pleasant.  All of a sudden, he called out to me - water was spewing and he said there was a clog in the line.  This also seemed odd as the had been no problem up to this point (the old dishwasher died due to a lightening strike).  He then said unfortunately he didn't have the tools to fix a clog on his truck (what kind of plumber was her?) and he'd have to call central dispatch.  They said someone else could be there in an hour and it would cost $253 (after a $40 discount) because it was an emergency repair.  This seemed really high but I said OK because I felt pressured and I felt that it might invalidate the dishwasher installation (if there were any issues) if I said no and got my own plumber.  The second guy was also very pleasant, but I just don't believe there was any clog, or that it should have cost that much to fix.  My own plumber did an emergency toilet repair a few weeks before for $160 and he had to move the toilet in and out!

Years ago, a Roto-Rooter technician came to fix a backed up drain, said he had to call a camera guy in (why don't they all carry camera?) and then tried to talk me into a $6,000 repair that would have included tearing up the driveway.  I said no and called my plumber who fixed the problem for under $200 and we've had no trouble since.

I just can't trust Roto-Rooter.

TERRIBLE - ALL THE WAY AROUND. I would select a negative rating if that was a choice.
The drain in my backyard was flooding. I have 2 large dogs that bark when the wind blows. The technician said he knocked (lie #1) and that he sat outside on my steps for over an hour (who has time to do that???)
He snaked the drain and it got stuck. He tried with everything he had in him to pull it out. It took another good 30 minutes to free the snake.
That evening I proceeded to my basement, and much to my dismay....the sludge from the drain in the yard was suddenly in my basement with a hole in the wall.
I called back and was told that 2 technicians would be out before the end of the night to run a camera down the drain. The original tech came back and told me to wait until it dries to clean it up - WHAT?!?!? Needless to say..the other 2 never showed up either. The tech said he was off duty but was curious to see what happened.
Next day (now 3 days after initial incident) was Sunday, we were told that a SUPERVISOR was coming out by the end of the evening. Guess who came? NOBODY!
Monday - we were told that someone would call us (after 1pm) to tell us what time he would be there. They were at the door at 7:30am and my son had to leave for work, so tech could not stay - told us to call when someone would be home and he would be back. I called at 5:15pm and was told that someone was in route to my place. That is a complete contradiction to what I was told earlier, however I was close enough to home that I could get there quickly.
Waited till midnight. Not only did they not show, they didn't call either.
DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY! I WILL LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW ON THEM ANYTIME I CAN - it is UNACCEPTABLE and UNPROFESSIONAL

Run away from this company. They have a bid of over $13,000 for a job our second opinion fixed for $100.  They are just looking to take advantage of their customers who are in a bad plumbing situation. They have a good line to try to convince you. Thank God for honest second opinions.
