MC Construction Plumbing Service
MC Construction did a great job of replacing my old roof with a new energy efficient plywood & tile.  They added a few more vents and also replaced some weathered fascia boards. I want to thank Josh K. for being flexible & working with me to stay in my budget!  I would hire them again!  Possible new bathrooms in the future!

Pipe Bros Plumbing Plumbing Service
I had discovered an old/ broken and effing leaking water pressure regulator today, these guys came out fast on a Saturday and fixed/replaced it.  Everything works now.  I can now flush my toilet without having to turn on and off the water main.  Thank you Steve and Mr. Albert Guzman.  Will definitely go to them again for further problems.  Prices were fair, they were nice and respectful, and the service was top notch.  Hell yeah.

Though they weren't able to help with my small job in a short time frame, they were courteous to return my call within about an hour which I really appreciated.

Ixtapa Construction Plumbing Service
The quick and fast, Ixtapa Construction is the best general contracting company I've had the pleasure to work with (I've worked with 3-4 over the last decade). I completely gutted a 4 bedroom, 2..5 bath, 2100 sq. ft. home we just purchased and Jay did it while handling timing pressure from my then 7-month-pregnant wife who was hesitant to even make the purchase, knowing the work it needed.

As the founder/President, Jay is a consummate professional (a rarity in this business), and a true craftsman. His Partner, Alex is also great to work with and keeps things organized and coordinated with all the moving pieces of a construction project. Most important to me is that Jay and his team takes pride and ownership in their work. Jay treated our construction project as if it was his own home. He takes the time to make sure things are done right, the first time. Moving forward, I'll always reach out to Jay first about my remodeling and home improvement needs before going out and interviewing/reviewing other contractors. Through my remodel, I'm fortunate enough to connect with someone who I've gotten to know and trust as my advisor for home remodeling and repair-related needs.

The longer version: We closed on our home in January of this year (2019). We knew we were going to completely gut and remodel the home. We didn't change the exterior (no additions) but all things interior of the home were to be redone. From all new water pipes to new electrical, new HVAC system, new 2.5 bathrooms and a new kitchen from the ground up including new flooring throughout.

This is our 2nd remodel of homes we are to live in, so it wasn't a completely new venture for us. The first remodel, I worked directly with a few tradesmen and oversaw/project managed the job myself. But this time around, with a newborn on the way and a 3 year old, I didn't have the time so we had to find a good GC that was fair, reasonable and accountable to work with. In total, we met about a dozen General Contractors (local via Yelp, Craigslist, HomeAdvisors, Houzz, you name it).

I first spoke with Alex by phone and then met with Jay at the house. Needless to say, he was on-time and professional. When we were ready to make a decision, we narrowed it down to Ixtapa and another construction company. I regretfully admit, we went with the other company first. The reason was that the initial bid was missing a few elements. I wish I had just went back and asked him to revise before making a decision. Truthfully, in my conversations with Jay, I had a good feeling. But we all make mistakes... The other company turned out to be a massive disaster (if you want more info, please reach out to me).

My initial timeline was the beginning of March for the home to be move-in ready. We started work on January 6th. By February 6th the house was all gutted, but nothing was being put back together. We started to get concerned as we were about 22 days out from when the house needed to be move-in ready. I got the typical contractor runaround and because I needed to be swift, I terminated the agreement. I had very low tolerance for a bad situation to get worse.

But since our initial meeting last December (2018) Jay stayed in touch with me and he actually followed with me to see how things were going.
I reached back out to Jay (at this point, under immense timing pressure) to see if he can help. He was able to get me on the calendar and get started in a week.
Ever since then, the house came together. And while I made changes to things and added things, he was very accommodating and did what he could to help us out.

Again, incredibly grateful to have met Jay and work with Ixtapa Construction. No job is too small for them, he's an honest craftsman that has a construction-framing background (so he can build a house from scratch if needed!) If he can't do something, he'll tell you. But overall, I'm incredibly happy with his service, professionalism and is the type of person you feel comfortable having around your family (which is also very important). And his team of craftsmen are great to work with too.

His pricing is fair, but through my own experience, you get what you pay for in this industry. Often times, you get low bids so they can come in and start the work, only to not finish or worse, cause damages. Talk to Alex/Jay, they'll work with you.

I will update this review with photos shortly.

Fina Water Systems & DLC Construction Plumbing Service
I called him to service my alkaline water system. Since he didn't install my system, he suggested buying my own filters for cheap and do it myself. He sent me links to Amazon for filter parts. Great honest company like this exists. I'm greatly appreciated him to go out of his way to help me even when he's not making money.
Thank you

Mora's Construction Plumbing Service
In my normal due diligence, I interviewed four bathroom contractors for this project...a bathroom measuring approximately 9 X 10 feet.  I was presented with a lot of sales talk from three well-dressed bidders and numbers were thrown at me on the spot without due consideration of the age of the home or possible issues behind the walls and under the floor.  Since the home is over 100 years old, this gave me pause. Jorge Mora came in in his work clothes, looked under the sink and made several observations, I thought were quite insightful.  A week later, I received a bid, which while not the lowest, made the most sense.  The true surprise was the absolute top-notch quality of the work performed.  His team worked seamlessly together and completed the project within two weeks and I could not be more pleased.  I plan on recommending his services to friends and family and will most certainly use him in the future for other projects in our home.

CastleWorks Home Services Plumbing Service
Dave and his team originally installed our HVAC two years ago.

Our AC stopped working yesterday evening. My wife called the main office line and the earliest they could schedule an appointment was two days away. Which would mean that we would be stuck in a non-air conditioned house, in the valley, with two young kids, during a heatwave for 2 more days and nights.

So I contacted Dave directly to see if anything could be done about the schedule, and he responded within minutes. Moved his schedule around and came out personally to the house within just a few hours of me reaching out to him. Uncovered that it was something relatively minor - the filter - and told my wife that he would replace it no charge! Totally our fault as we apparently forgot to schedule our yearly maintenance.

We've since scheduled our maintenance for later this week, and we will be planning to add some HVAC work with Dave for later this year. This is customer service at its finest, and I'm happy to recommend him to everyone I know.

Biard & Crockett Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning Plumbing Service
I had an unused under-the-sink shutoff valve go bad and it began to slowly leak, so we had a plumber come out to replace the valve. This is something I would normally tackle on my own, however, our domestic water connection supplies two attached units/neighbors and I did not want to have them go without water for an extended period of time in case I needed to make an extra trip to the parts store during the replacement.

I was out of town during the time of the install and my wife was home during the service. She watched the clock and noted that the job took about 15 minutes start to finish - let's call it 20 minutes max to be generous/safe. When I came home, the valve was replaced with a new one and everything appeared to be dry.

Here's where the issues begin for me. I reviewed the invoice to find that the fee is $152.66 for this repair. Wow, that's awfully steep for a 20minute (max) job. I decide to give the plumber the benefit of the doubt and review the invoice to see where this fee came from - how much time did he say he spent, how much was the part, etc.

While the paper invoice has a dedicated section to Time Detail, there is no information filled into the boxes about start time, stop time, or time spent. There is no information about the cost of the replacement part. So I called their contact number after hours and left a message requesting a call back.

Cut to the follow-up. I receive a call back from Herb himself. He let's me know that the new shut-off valve was about $15 plus tax and his labor cost was $132. I inquire if they bill by the hour or by the job, to which he responded they do not bill hourly. I let him know that we kept track of his time and that it took about 15 minutes from start to finish, 20 minutes tops. If I extrapolate 20 minutes @ $132 (which excludes cost of the part) to an hourly rate, that works out to $396/hr. I plainly told him that 400/hr is not a reasonable hourly rate and 150 dollar fee for this job was exorbitant. Herb said that I would have been welcome to do the job myself. When I asked if $400/hr is a typical plumber's billing rate, he said it depends on one's perspective. He also said that it costs money to drive trucks around. He would not adjust the price in any manner.

Did the job get finished? Yes. Am I aware that companies need to make money and probably have minimum callout fees? Absolutely. Did the paperwork/documentation of the repair stink? Yes. Was the pricing exorbitant? Herb says no and I say yes. You can decide for yourself.

Efficient Plumbing Plumbing Service
I have used this company twice now, once for a small repipe, and once for a faucet install. I could not be more impressed with how quickly and efficiently an appointment was made by the front office staff. Chris came out to handle both jobs for us and both times the job was handled with the utmost professionalism. Chris was on time, friendly, and knowledgable on both occasions (not to mention very tolerant of my nosey cats!). He gave us expert advice on what we should and shouldn't do and guided us to the right solutions with the repipe. I also consider their pricing to be very fair and reasonable, especially when I consider the quality and timely manner in which the work was done. I cannot recommend this company (and Chris) highly enough. I will definitely be using them in the future for my plumbing needs!

Ameri-Cal Repipe & Plumbing Plumbing Service
They were great!  Jake came on Saturday and assessed the situation and the guys showed up on Tuesday afternoon, Monday was a holiday, and installed a new spout and changed my undersink filters that I'd already purchased.  Great company; they called to confirm and to let me know when the plumbers were on their way.

Clean Plumbing Plumbing Service
What I like most about this business is that you don't have to wonder if; they'll show up, know what they're doing, or care about being referred. Chris of Clean Plumbing runs this ship like he absolutely cares about all of those things. I have used Chris, as well as referred him to friends and clients. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs an emergency plumber or a planned upgrade. He's good!

Repipe Pro Plumbing Service
I recently hired Number One State to repipe my 4 unit apartment building. During the initial presentation, every part of the job was explained to me. The estimate was extremely fair and I could tell that this was not a company that was going to cut corners in order to lower it's price. The owner Art is one of the most honest and professional people that I have ever had the pleasure of  doing business with. He was available at anytime to answer any question that I might have. Also, he did not ask for any money up front. He told me that he wanted me to be 100% satisfied with the work before I paid him. And after the job was completed, I paid exactly that amount and not a penny more.

As for the actual work, it was some of the best plumbing work I had ever seen. All of the soldering joints were wiped clean, the pipes were well secured, isolators used wherever the pipes passed through the studs, pipes in the attic were insulated, etc. Art sent a large enough crew so that the plumbing could be completed in two days time with minimum disruption to my tenants. The lead plumber, Ruben, was a great guy and kept the job moving along quickly. The patch crew did a great job repairing the walls and the water pressure is now excellent.

I would highly recommend Number One State to anyone in need of a repipe. With the quality of their work and the honesty of the owner, you won't go wrong.

Graham Plumbing and Drain Cleaning Plumbing Service
This is the second time using Graham Plumbing, the first was great, 5 stars, they solved the backup in my main line and repaired the cleanout, on a holiday weekend and didn't gouge me on price. This time I needed a hot water heater and the service was fast but the technician was a bit messy and I had to clean up significantly after the work was done, also I asked if I could get a discount for paying by cash or check and it wasn't allowed, so the price was a bit high but the speed and quality of the product is good. Also, the technician didn't replace the insulation on the copper flex line.

I highly recommend BobbyC's Handy Craftsman!  He is exceptional.  He has a strong attention to detail, cares about the quality of his work, is fair in his pricing, and is extremely responsive and professional.  I've had a number of projects that I've been wanting to get done and he came over for an initial assessment and was comfortable with all of the things that I needed done.  He did everything very efficiently, has the tools to get things done, and is friendly and reliable.  I highly recommend him and am happy to be a reference for him if you need someone to vouch for his work before getting started.  I will continue to work with him on the many ongoing home projects that I have on my list to accomplish.
