Description

I flat fee most projects such as ceiling fans, interior or exterior door installations, new plumbing fixtures, and similar projects that would be considered standard from one home to another or where it is not necessary to see the project to bid it. For smaller projects such as drywall repairs, furniture assembly, sticking door walls, electrical diagnosing or any other project where total completion time cannot be estimated I prefer to work on an hourly basis. My hourly rate is $100 for the first hour, which is my minimum, and then $30 for each additional 30 min. I am always willing to start any project on an hourly basis and offer a flat fee once I see it firsthand. Larger remodeling projects such as kitchens, baths, decks, or basements require an on-site visit before I can provide an estimate. Please note that with fuel costs rising, I do require a $50 fee for this service which is refundable should you hire me for all, or a reasonable portion, of the project that is estimated. $100 for the first hour (my minimum) $30 each additional 30 minutes Flat rate fees are available 24 hour service available by appointment only

HISTORY

Established in 2010.
I own and operate a remodeling crew subcontracting for local companies that specialize in Kitchen, Bath, and Basement remodeling. In between projects or while waiting on inspections or other tradesmen, I take on handyman projects to keep my schedule full. I accept appointments 7 days a week by appointment only on a first come first serve basis. I typically schedule appointments twice daily starting at 10 am and again at 2 pm. I will, however, accommodate other times if available and by request. I can schedule projects 24 hours a day including nights and weekends based on the customer's needs. ABOUT BUSINESS OWNER

I'm a highly skilled full service contractor with over 25 years of experience in the building trades. I completed a 4 year 8000 hour apprenticeship with the Carpenter's Local 687 and am also a NACHI certified home inspector for the great states of Michigan and Ohio.

I am fully trained in Carpentry, Plumbing, and Electrical work and can perform almost any home repair or improvement. My rates are reasonable, I am courteous and professional, I guarantee all of my work, and I take great pride in all that I do.

Beyond horrible and discourteous. John scheduled an appt. with me. I agreed to the date and time. I also confirmed the day before. We waited not only did he not call he didn't show up, and I still have not heard from him. After emailing and leaving messages. This is no way to treat customers old, new or potential. This was piss poor service at its finest, and its no excuse. Customers have so many other business options, we pick you not the other way around. If I could give zero stars I would. This was totally foul, as a customer my time is equally important. The only thing John was Handy at was being unprofessional, and he lacks morals with his business.

We contacted John's to install a large window AC in our home. We agreed upon a price and job date, they even sent me a reminder 24 hours prior to our appointment. I took the afternoon off for our appointment and...John's never showed up. They did not respond to my calls or messages either--ever. I wasted an afternoon off and still had to find someone else to do the work. I would avoid this company, they are highly unreliable, unresponsive and a waste of time.

I do a lot of business in Michigan and California through Yelp. I have never seen reviews like this... either 5-stars or 1-star... AND THEY ARE BOTH ACCURATE!
Obviously a very nice guy and talented... until he decides he is through with you... whether the job is completed or not!
I had the same story. Great communication, knows his biz, nice guy, good work... but a TERRIBLE BUSINESSMAN. Why he would quote these jobs, do work, build relationships and then just disappear is crazy. I actually thought something happened to him until I read these reviews.
Unfortunately for us, he left one part of the job (the sanding and painting) unfinished. Now, I have to find someone to come in and clean up his mess. cI've been told I have a nice case for small claims court... and I may just try that route.

I dont think this electrician actually does work. I didnt want to believe some of the reviewers who complained about no call no shows and then ghosting them, but I think he must get some sick joy in doing so.
Avoid this guy, he will leave you high and dry and probably do some shoddy work while he is at it.

John is a pretty nice guy. He's professional, friendly, and patient. He helped me figure out the wiring for a smart thermostat set-up. This is a quick job, but he is still detail and perfection oriented. He wouldn't leave until everything is working properly. I enjoyed the service very much! Highly recommend.

Booked an appointment 3 weeks ago and scheduled a date for him to come to my house. I set aside my entire day and prepared the work area for him and he completely ghosted me after sending a confirmation email that he was arriving the day before. He seemed like a reasonable person so I assumed the worst that something may have happened. It's now been 4 days later and I'm still being ghosted. My wife called from her phone and got a message that he has another project and can't get to his phone. If you can send messages at least be courteous and respond back to me. Wouldn't recommend wasting weeks of your time waiting for John to come and complete work, you're better off calling another handyman.

John was EXCELLENT. I called him at my last hr and he was gracious enough to accommodate me the next day. He came on time, communicated well with me, professional, knew his stuff really well, diagnosed a major problem with my sink, offered to fix it right away and he did a very clean, neat job. Iam just moving in to this newly bought property and had a home inspection ..etc per protocols. Looks like the inspector missed this leaky sink and John very wisely picked up the problem and fixed it as well. I highly recommend John for all your Plumbing, electrical, home mtnce issues.
