Horribly organized company with mediocre service

I had a water heater leak in February of 2015 (yes, it's now July 2019).  Edwards did come out fairly quickly and replaced the heater.  However, I then never received a receipt for the heater, documentation/instruction manual and warranty for the heater despite asking multiple times (I still haven't received it).  After the heater was fixed, I had a pipe leak in the wall of my finished basement (related to increased calcium in the water which caused the heater problem in the first place).  At this point I had water leaking through the walls and into the basement carpeting itself and I turned off the water line and called Edwards again.

They came out again fairly quickly (who wouldn't, for that business?!).  Now I got an estimate of over $4,000 because they would need to tear down the wall, fix the pipe, spend 3 days drying/ventilating the insulation and walls to prevent fungal growth, and reconstruct the wall.  This sounded necessary at the time so I proceeded.  I paid around $1,400 as a deposit. In February, 2015.

Now come July 2019.  I receive a letter from a lawyer stating I owe $2,700+ from the work done back in 2015.  Firstly, I'm not even sure this is still collectible.  Secondly, I NEVER ONCE RECEIVED AN INVOICE. I assumed they had settled the remaining cost with my insurance.  I never heard that I owed a cent to Edwards until they decided to have a lawyer involved.

I refused to pay until I received an invoice for the work done.  All I got from Edwards is a very illegitimate-looking list of who came out to my home on what day and what time and a list of work done.  This is on a non-official letterhead.  There is no itemized list of costs including supplies, labor, etc.

In short, I'm flat out not sure that this company is legitimate whatsoever.  If they can't document properly, they shouldn't get paid.  I'm a physician and if I tried to pull something like this there is NO WAY I would receive payment.

Nonetheless, I remember this incident well.  I became the better person and paid the remaining balance because I know the work was indeed done (although at this point who knows if it was done correctly, or what extent of this work was necessary in the first place).  But, FOUR YEARS LATER, I just want this over with.  I just happen to be fortunate enough to be able to pay this outstanding and seemingly illegitimate bill.

DO NOT HAVE EDWARDS DO YOUR WORK. They are disorganized and do not operate as a legitimate company.  I sincerely hope this business goes bankrupt as I assume if they are spending the time to collect on a bill from 2015 that they are in dire need.

Oh, man.  I had such high hopes, from the way our phone conversations went.  We live in California and manage our property from out here, so often a phone conversation and our tenant's assessment is all we have to go on.

The polar vortex came, and our rental home in Ypsi had a pipe burst.  Our regular plumber (Sinks to Sewers, love them!) was completely overbooked with burst pipes, so we had to look elsewhere.  We called Edwards and the guy on the phone was super helpful and friendly.  Said he could get someone out there the next day, between 2 and 4.

My tenant calls me at 5:30, no word from the guy and he hasn't arrived.  He wants them to come again another time, as he's tired of waiting around.  I call Edwards and the man on the phone is again very nice and offers to reschedule the next day, a Saturday.  The plumber shows up on Saturday, on time.  He goes in our crawlspace, breaks the window :(, tells his boss our crawlspace is muddy.  Boss calls us, says that it will be $500 to fix the burst pipe, with an additional $500 crawlspace fee because the plumber is going to get muddy and won't be able to work for the rest of the day.

Sorry, but we're not okay with paying someone $500 to wash their clothes and take a shower... after they broke a window on your property!  We found another guy who came and fixed the pipe, insulated the new pipe, and didn't care about getting dirty- and he did it all for $215.

It's really disappointing to see a company blatantly ripping people off.

Our hot water heater broke on the 4th of July weekend while we had family staying from out of town. We contacted several companies who stated they could not replace until after the holiday. We contacted Edwards who stated they had water tanks and would able to replace that day. After waiting several hours the company called and stated the driver got a flat tire and would be delayed. Finally the repair person showed up he said he did not get a flat tire and does not know why they told us that. Then said he did not have any tanks and he would have to come back after the holiday. Now this is 7pm in the evening and too late to call another company. Since we needed it done we waited 2 more days until after the holiday to be told at 8:45am that the driver was on his way. Nobody showed up. We called and were told 1pm to 7pm a driver would come. At 6pm they called and said they could not make it. Now again it is too late to call another company to come out and replace the heater. We now have to locate another company to get on their schedule and get a hotel room to be able to shower for work. This company has wasted so much of our time for NOTHING! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

I had originally given this company a favorable review.   I had a leak in my laundry room on the evening of 5-31-23.  The after hours emergency fee was $149, a charge I had no problem with.  They dispatched a plumber to my residence, a nice young man named Dakota.  He was efficient and polite, but did not have the proper part in his van to complete the job, and promised to return the following day to finish the work (which he did).  The problem I have is that he was at my house for about an hour and a half the evening of 5-31 and about ten minutes on 6-1, and was charged an additional $850.  I have tried to call the company SEVEN different times seeking an explanation of this ridiculous fee, and nobody has had the courtesy to return my call.  I am a widow, on a fixed income, and feel that this company took huge advantage of me.  I wouldn't ever use this company again.  The prices are insanely high and the customer service is the worst I have ever experienced.  Anyone who thinks $1000 for less than two hours work is fair, has more money than sense.  I'll never use them again, and I am happy to share this decision with the world

Had a great experience with Mark this morning. Very professional and solved my issue pretty quick. Very friendly and handled me hovering over watching the entire time very well. Would recommend working with Edwards. If I ever need plumbing work again (knock on wood we have no more blockages) I would definitely call Edwards and request Mark. He also complimented how clean our grease trap was, and if you clean a grease trap you know how much that means. Thanks again.

Seriously people, choose another plumbing company!  I recently had a hugely frustrating experience trying to get a relatively minor repair completed.  Had 4 different employees here over the course of several days.  The first, Anthony, was a great guy and worked hard but had no idea what he was doing.  The others came but never had the right part.  The person who does scheduling is a disaster.  I lost track of how many hours I spent waiting for someone to arrive.  Spoke with the owner twice, said he wanted a satisfied customer and that he would have someone repair the drywall that had to be cut open, even though they usually don't do that.  Never heard from him again.  I could go on and on.  Just go elsewhere and save yourself the aggravation.  I now noticed the many negative reviews and the many explanations by James about why the customers are wrong.  That says a lot.

The first visit I had with them was very expensive for the the service, but they were quick to come out and friendly.  I was a little concerned that the drain auger seemed to be much faster than one I had done a year before by another service, which kept problems in our pipes at bay for over 6 months.
Three weeks later, the speed of the service showed that the issue was not cared for for properly, and had just been pushed back.  When I called the company, they set up a 6 six hour window for the next day, from 1 to 7pm, and said they would call an hour out.  The customer service agent also noted that they would treat this as a recall, unless it was an unrelated issue.
Shortly after 6pm, I called the company, as I had not heard anything back, and the window was about to be over.  The customer service agent said they were running behind, and apologized about this.  Fifteen minutes later, the same agent called back to say the technician was on the way, but that recall services would not apply to drains, and we would be charged the same high fee to have this done again, and he had misspoken before.  I ended this here, because the service fee was already much higher than calling other companies nearby.
Waste of money and time - rent an auger to do it yourself if you have the time, or call a different company that knows what they're doing and charges less.

Had a guy out beginning of June to move drain for bathroom shower, run water lines for sink and toilet. He showed up around 4:00 which was six hours late. I had to help him install and troubleshoot. I blew out the water lines so he could put together supply lines.  Even ran to Home Depot for him.  He left part way the Through the job said he'd come back next morning at 8:00 to finish. He left, I turned main water supply lines back on (because he couldn't locate them). Water shot everywhere. His new connections failed ruining some of our new drywall. I called and he came back to rig them.
He came back 5 hours late again the next morning no call from anybody again. Set pipe for shower pan and ran supply lines for sink.  I had to step out for 20 minutes and he proceeded to charge my credit card on file for balance and left. Me not knowing or authorizing anything. Said he'd come back to finish. Still hasn't and it's two months later. They sent out another tech, he apologized. The drain for shower will need to be redone because he measured wrong, still need supply line for toilet and drain for sink. The new tech said he'd come back next day with parts and repair. It's been two weeks he nvr showed and no calls. A mgr is supposed to call me. Still hasn't.  Job isn't done, it's been two months. They ran my card without authorization. They don't communicate. They're pretty incompetent based on my experience.  Steer clear of these folks.

They came to my house to estimate a plumbing project on 1/21 and I paid them $69. They promised an estimate would be forthcoming. No estimate. I called at the beginning of February and was promised that an estimate would be sent to me Monday 2/3. On Monday, 2/3 I got a voice mail (which I saved) that the person who was supposed to do my estimate was on vacation. I told them to skip it and to refund my $69. They promised a refund. I called on 2/17 to inquire about my refund, only to be told that the $69 dollars was for a visit, and did not include an estimate. So if you call Edwards Plumbing and Heating, I guess you're going to pay them just so they can tour your house. I don't know what the heck else they do.

Edwards Plumbing would not credit the $59 estimate fee toward my final bill, even though they explicitly advertised and promised that they would.

A technician came to my house and gave me an estimate.  He finished around 9PM, and didn't have the necessary tools and parts to finish the job, so told me to call and schedule with the main office.

I called and scheduled, and they did the job.  The work was great, no complaints there; the tech was polite and friendly.

However, they did not subtract the $59 estimate fee from my final bill, as they said they would.  I spoke with a manager yesterday, and he said that I had waited too long (two weeks) after the estimate to schedule the job, and that they have costs.

So, even though I was promised that the $59 fee would be taken off my final bill, and the tech didn't even have the parts to complete the job on the first visit, they would not honor their advertised and promised pricing.

The manager did credit me $50 for future work, but that of course will only help if I ever pay another $350+ for their services.

Again, the quality of work was great, but I was shocked that they would not honor their own advertising and promises.

DO NOT use Edward's Plumbing and Heating unless you want to be ridiculously gouged, lied to, and ignored. They charged us almost $100 to identify the source of a leak. There were no repairs, and the visit took 10 minutes. When we complained to management (which took multiple calls), they said the wrong diagnostic fee had been applied and that we would be refunded a significant amount. No refund ever came, and when we attempted to contact them once again (six weeks later), we were promised a return call that never came. Clearly they do not care about customer service. Will never use again.

Called on a Saturday and they said they were able to have someone to the house that day. We did know the $70 mandatory service fee would be charged but would be applied to the work. The technician was 1.5 hours late and estimated that the work would be $900 to fix a running toilet and replace a garbage disposal!! We declined the work and had to pay the $70. The technician said that we were the 6th house he had been to that day (it was only 2pm) and none of them had asked him to do any work. I can only assume it's because of the absolutely RIDICULOUS prices!

Went to Menards and replaced the disposal and fixed the toilet myself for less than $100. Don't waste your time or money!

When I called this company I explained exactly what was happening with my clogged sinks, and what was done before by their own service AND what that serviceman said would need to be done in the near future.  As it is the near future, it is unfortunate that the original plumber wasn't available, they sent someone else.  I am sure he is competent but when I told him what was needed, he suggested a different solution.  It not only didn't work, made it worse and he had to replace a piece of the plumbing broke in the process.  I wasn't charged for the pipe but was charged for the service call and given an astronomical quote for what needed to happen next, though he could not perform this work himself.  Sinks clogged and a terrible smell emanating from them, I called a local plumber who, was here and completed the task in minutes and restored my faith in the plumbing industry.

I am really disappointed with Edwards plumbing and I feel like I have been taken advantage of. I had an appointment scheduled from 12-3 and after taking the afternoon off to be here, the plumber still hadn't arrived by 5:30 when I called to see what was going on. They said It was scheduled for 6pm the next day, (Even though I was late told the plumber, Mark, wasn't even working the next day,). The plumber came, and took one minute to diagnose the problem in my toilet, told me, $208.25, I'll go get the part, and was out the door again. Prompt service, to say the least.
Well he replaced the fill valve in the toilet, but viola, that wasn't the problem actually. That didn't stop him from charging us the whole $208.25.
In replacing this part, the stop valve began to leak profusely, and he said he couldn't fix that now because he doesn't know where to find the water main. He said if he were to come back to fix this it would be another $300.

My partner paid the $210 because he is a nice guy and felt the service should be paid for, but I am not going to spend $500 on a service that is quoted at $150 elsewhere. I called the company, spoke to the phone attendant - who's only response was I just do scheduling and answering phones, asked to speak to the plumber to find out why it would cost $300, and have been waiting for a phone call back ever since. There was no itemization of the cost on the $208.25 service either.

I read the other reviews about this place being a scam and it seems to me, because there are good reviews, that these guys take one look at you and decide if they can rip you off or not. I guess I looked like the former rather than the latter.

Taking advantage of people who don't know pricing is the fastest way to get your business flushed down the toilet. See what In did there? Stop ripping people off for things like garbage disposals and maybe you'll get better ratings.

This should really be ZERO stars. I called to have the laundry water re-routed to the septic field at our parent's home. Johnathan came out on the following Saturday and created an estimate, then charged me 1/2 down, including the $69.00 assessment fee.  Nice guy, but needed to use my microwave to heat his coffee, then asked for a phone charger because his iPad has almost lost its charge. I paid almost $600 and understanding we had an offer to buy the house and this job was critical, Johnathan offered to be there on Sunday morning at 9 am to get the job done. However, after I drove over a hour to get there again, I waited and called repeatedly but Johnathan was not to be found. Excuses were made. About 5 hours later, he called me and said he had overslept. SORRY. Then promised to be there Tuesday at 10 am. Once again, I drove and waited and waited. After calling repeatedly, they connected me with Johnathan and I asked why he was late and indicated I was quite upset that he'd once again stood me up. I was told he was 15 minutes away, but he never showed. Then I was told he REFUSED to do the work. Now, I've called repeatedly for a refund but I'm being ignored. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

Prompt service, skilled technicians. I had a sewage pump installed (I know it's an easy thing to do yourself but I didn't want the hassle). Mark Edward was very knowledgeable in the phone. His guys only took 30min to do the job which was great. I was quoted an hourly rate of 120$. When it came to paying after the cost of the pump itself was 164$ for the labour which had a travel fee for picking up/delivering the pump.  It would have been nice to have known about that extra travel fee before is the reason for the 4 instead of 5 star.

If i could put no stars I would. We scheduled an appointment yesterday and waited for the time frame today to happen. After the time frame went by we called the company to find out when they were coming. They stated we aren't in there work district, I map-quested how far we were from them. It's approximately 5 miles at the most away. Don't waste your time scheduling with this company, as this isn't the first review that I have seen where they scheduled and never showed up or called to let the people know.

Horrible scheduling, customer service, and management. I scheduled an appointment for an estimate on a Thursday afternoon between 1-3pm. The Edwards technician never came (I took the afternoon off from work). I called, they apologized and scheduled an appointment for the same day and time the next week. Once again: no technician came to my house. They called me and claimed that the technician's truck broke down. Then the next person I talked to said that the technician was on an emergency job. I was justifiably disappointed and complained to the manager that I wasted 2 afternoons waiting for them to send a technician. And I was disappointed that someone was obviously lying to me. The manager responded by yelling several horrible vulgar words at me (the f-word). I will never again even think about doing business with this company... The technicians may be decent, but the managers are horrible, unprofessional, and have no class. And the people who schedule appointments are incompetent. A company that insults you and does not care about customer service does not deserve your money.

The first time I called Edwards, it was because we had a burst pipe on Super Bowl Sunday morning -- it was a desperation move, because it was the weekend, but they sent someone out immediately, and I was happy with their work.  The second time I needed a plumber, I called someone else (Mitch's) just to see and suffice to say, I was not impressed.  They basically blew me off and I called Edwards again, who came right away.

Today, I had a technician come to my house to repair a sink.  I called three other local plumbers, and not one returned my call.  Edwards answered on the first ring, and sent someone out the next day.  They have always been prompt, courteous, efficient, clean, and polite.

Edwards Plumbing will be my first call from now on!

I called on a football Saturday at noon because my kitchen ceiling was leaking... from the toilet above...  yikes!  The entire process was excellent though - you call a triage line and they send out your call and everything runs really smoothly.  when I got the call that Jason would be there in 30-60 minutes, he was there in 35 (which remember... this is after the U of M game JUST got out.)  Impressive. I had Jason out to the house by 4:15 and he was wonderful!  He fixed the problem and even helped me to understand the issue, how to fix it and other things to think about in the bathroom.  Total bill: $286.24... VERY reasonable!   I will use this company for any plumbing needs in the future!

I just want to start by saying that the Technician that came to my house was professional. But, the reason that I gave EPH 2 stars is because 1) the tech figured out that my water heater was not working properly due to a flammable vapor sensor. 2) I was charged $250 for a job that only took 2 seconds to complete. I understand that you have to pay for labor, but $250 is a little extreme for a job that only took a few seconds to complete. 3) I have a 10 year manufactured warranty on my water heater and it's parts, and I don't think that was handled properly or reflected properly on my bill. The tech did knock  $20 off my bill when I mentioned to him about my warranty on my heater, but if my parts that are under warranty until 2019 were put into consideration would it have taken my bill of $250 down a little more. I kind of feel ripped off.

The best part about the service call was they came within a few hours on a Sunday.

When the service guy showed up though, he didnt wear a mask.  He proudly displayed his TRUMP hat, and wore tennis shoes into the flood.

He takes a look at my issue (sump pit was inadequate), and starts telling me that I probably need to replace the main line to the street, and quotes me almost 6000 dollars for a new everything.

He wanted half up front to get started, and I told him I had to wait.  69.00 service call, tried to give him 80, and he couldnt make change so he took 60 and called us square (why he got 2 stars instead of 1).

I spent the afternoon at Home Depot, and managed to replace the interior pieces myself for roughly 300 dollars.  No more water, and no more flooding.

If this issue arises again, I'll be reluctant to call these guys back.  They'll be my last choice.

Horrible customer service.  The guy who came out was extremely rude! Wouldn't listen to anything I had to say and told me he knows how to do his job. Apparently not since he thinks its normal for sewer water to come up from a floor drain and flood my floors with poop.  He did nothing to fix the problem, even after I told him what the problem was. This is not the first time this has happened.  We have tree roots in the pipe and snaking it is the only way to clear the pipe when it gets clogged! Charges a $69 service fee just to come to your home and leave without fixing the problem! Unbelievable! Don't call this company! They just take your money and refuse to fix the problem!

I called them out for service on a drain, it was suppose to cost 59.95 for the diagnostic and they knew it was in a crawlspace and then once I got the bill they added an extra $40 when they needed $1200 to fix it. Buyer beware may go to the BBB for this.

My garbage disposal stopped with the deadly hum sound they make, and after trying myself and having my Bldg maintenance man try also we were unable to get it going again. So I looked on Safari for plumbers in my town (I have not needed one in 6 years) and found Edwards and called without looking forward any others. Suffice it to say that they not only didn't show up when they were supposed to, but when they did arrive they walked in my condo with nothing in their hands, like they were going to a social occasion. After they looked at it (not much else to do without tools) they got their tools from the truck and immediately said it needed to be replaced. I know plumbers are expensive but just go ahead and guess how much ...........
$530, for one disposal and less than a half hour of work. After they left I ran the dishwasher where I had accumulated a lot of dirty dishes. Later that evening I went in the kitchen to make dinner and found the wood floor and rug soaking wet. Looking inside there was a dripping hose just sitting in the bottom of the cabinet. Lots of water everywhere. Called the office - this was Fri evening and was told no one could come until Monday. During all of the calls to the office before and after the office person was less than helpful. After raising my voice finally, I finally heard from the technician who said he would be out Sat afternoon.  It was fixed finally, but I also called the office and asked to have the business owner call me - which has not happened now with over a week passing. So, here's the review - don't make my mistake!

After 2 previous positive experiences with Edwards, we called for help removing a rusted on washer hose and putting on the new hoses we'd bought. We were offered a Sunday time slot, but told the scheduler it wasn't urgent and we didn't want to pay extra for a weekend call. We were assured that we would NOT be charged more for the Sunday call, so we accepted the appointment. The service tech took less than 10 minutes to remove the old hoses and put on the new ones. We were then told that we WOULD be charged double for a Sunday visit ($165). When we protested, he went out to the truck to call his supervisor, then came back and insisted on the double charge. We then called the office ourselves, were told the tech had never called the supervisor and that Sundays weren't a double charge. The office person said he'd check with the tech and get back to us. Four days later, still no call back. EDWARDS LIES, DON'T BELIEVE A WORD THEY SAY!! I feel like we got screwed on this job!!

We needed a plumber to unclog our drain at 3:00pm Friday afternoon. They said someone would be out in 45 minutes. They showed up at 7:00p. The plumber and helper worked about 2-1/2 hours and were unsuccessful. Every time they did something, they told us before hand it would be hundred dollars. They told us it would be $250 to removed the toilet. We were desperate, so we agreed. They were unsuccessful in snaking the bathroom sinks and also tried to do the jacuzzi tub. They never bothered to try the kitchen sink. They said they would be back before 10a on Saturday with smaller snake and a camera. We called 3 different times on Saturday and they kept saying they were on the way. Finally at 6p they said they would be back Sunday morning. We called on Sunday when he failed to show up and we waited all day Sunday and he was no show again. Monday morning they said he was on his way. We called at noon and they made up the excuse that he had to stop and buy some parts. Finally at 2p, we called another plumber and cancelled out appt. with Edwards. We were charged $850 for a job never completed. The plumber we called from Benjamin Franklin unplugged the kitchen drain in 20 minutes. He reviewed the pricing in a notebook before he got started, so we knew the cost of everything before he got started. My husband had to reinstall the toilet himself, put the drains back together, and the drain back in the jacuzzi tub,

Mike quoted me on the phone: $150, which includes an hour of service. He said the part would be $49 or $79. Ryan came, installed the pump and charged $263. At the time I had another worker here so I didn't add up the bill. After Ryan left, I realized the discrepency and called Mike and told him there's about a $40 difference on what he quoted and what Ryan charged. Mike said it's their $40 trip charge (even though the difference is really only $34). I told him he never mentioned a trip charge, just that it would be $150 which includes an hour of service time. He said they don't have to say there's a trip charge, that people ask if there's a trip charge and that I should have asked. I tried to explain that all the other plumbing companies i called were up front about a trip charge, he argued and got loud then hung up on me when I told him I'd contact, BBB and Attorney General for charging hidden costs. Do not deal with this belligerent owner who refused to waive his made-up $40 trip charge fee.

7/29/22 a leak began in our kitchen under the sink.  We had no idea what to do but put a pot underneath to catch the water and call a plumber.  Edwards was recommended to us so we called. They said they could send a plumber the next day - Saturday 7/30 with and 8:30 - 1:00 window.  Bummer because 7/29 was our anniversary and 7/30 was my husbands BDay...but...what could we do...We accepted.  On Saturday...we waited....and we waited...and waited.  At 3:00ish I called and asked if they had forgotten about us.  They said no but that the plumber had run into an issue on the job he was already on...so we continued to wait....4:30, 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, 8:30pm....not only has it been a whole 12 hours from the start of our window....but Edwards wasn't even decent enough to keep us informed along the way.  At 8:30pm I finally called and said I would guess no one is coming this evening.  When the guy told me 'no' I asked him if he thought it would have been proper for someone from Edwards to at least call and let us know.  So now, we have missed the whole day and evening not being able to celebrate anniversary or birthday waiting on a Plumber who never bothered to show up.  It doesn't end there.  We were promised 5% off of our service (which means I'm sure the labor rate would have doubled) but most importantly, we were promised that we were first on SUNDAY's list 7/31.  We jump up like we did on Saturday at 8:00, throw on shorts and wait....and wait...somewhere between 12:00 and 2:00 (I don't have my notes, they're at home) the Plumber from Edwards shows up...JUST AS I AM SCHEDULING A NEW PLUMBER THRU ANGI's LIST. The only respect I give them is that they wore the plastic over their shoes.  The guy was sort of nice but he answered questions with a smart mouth tone...What he basically told us was that there was a leak in our hose, better off going to Lowe's to get a new faucet (which cost us $129), bring it back, he would install for $200 and be out of our hair. They are only getting a star BECAUSE the guy actually came back for the install.....btw, for $377, the Pro from Angi's List was exceptional!! Came at 9:55am (he was scheduled for 10:00am) went to Lowe's FOR US, picked up our toilets, came back and installed both....but before he could complete the 2nd install he WENT BACK to Lowe's to get a longer something or other because ours was too short.  He came back installed the 2nd toilet, AND ran a line for my new refrigerator all between 9:55 and 1:30pm.  Now that's a REAL business man. He did 3X's the work for $50 more. Never will I recommend Edwards Plumbing and Heating!  It wasn't work they did or didn't do....it was their lack of communication and not even pretending to care!!

This is my second review for this company. I taught after my first review I will get some results. I was wrong. I am in tears writing this review.
EH&P were installing a new Boiler and water heater, this is one unit mounted to the wall. They started this job since, before the Thanksgiving holiday, this job was not supposed to take more than two days to complete. I went through the Thanksgiving holidays without hot water and heat, There have been so many people in my house since then trying to install this unit and no one can get it going up until now.
It has been from one hassle to the other. My Thanksgiving was a mess, my birthday party had to be canceled because of this, my son's birthday dinner had to be canceled because I could not cook because it was too cold in the house together with no hot water.
We could not go out either because the guys were working. This is the first week I have some heat an hot water, which is still not regulating properly.
My husband and I have been losing work from since that time because someone has to be home when they are coming to work, most days I have to call the office to find out if anyone is coming they are always late never here before 10:00 am or so sometimes they show up in the afternoon.
No one seems to know what they are doing.
The first guy cut my electric power wire he then ran a wire from the meter to my box so I will have electricity. My husband asks him if he was an electrician he said no, he cut my heat and hot water off work for two weeks before he admitted to me he did not know what he was doing.
The guys after these two caused me more heartache than I wanted, they burn my walls, they leave the pipes leaking, and walk out without saying anything to us, we did not get much sleep that night, my husband had to be awake most of the night, emptying the water from buckets we put to catch the water, or else the whole second floor of my house would have been flooded.
I have had as much as I can take, I cannot take this anymore I have been very patient so far. Christmas is in two weeks I just canceled all of my dinner plans for the holidays, this is causing me too much of an inconvenience, and has taken away so much from me.
When the new guy came into work last week he saw what a mess everything was and how cold the house was, and offer for us to stay in a hotel for the weekend.
I ended up going to the doctor when I could not breathe properly only to find out I had a bronchial infection, from being in the cold house with no hot water or heat.
I spoke to the owner some time ago he seems very polite, he also assured me it will get taken care of soon that is not happening.
I already got a bill from the loan company, how am I suppose to pay for something that' not up to an working, I called the loan company and let them know I am not going to pay for something I do not have.
I have suffered enough with this company somebody is going to pay for all that I am going through, and this company is the most expensive of all that I had come out here.
No one seems to care or give a darn about what I am going through. This has been going on for too long.
I should have canceled this job the first week I had problems. I guess I have to give at lease one star or I will not be able to post the review

Edwards Plumbing & Heating is superb. I called late at night when I found my basement had flooded because of water pouring out of ceiling. Home alone w/ my three girls, I  didn't know what to do. Malcolm showed up after I called around 11:00 pm and took care of drying out my basement and ripping out all the damaged flooring. Stayed until 3:30 am until he was sure everything was done right. He was extremely organized and neat and put my mind at ease. He had an hour drive back home and in the morning he  drove back the next day to check on progression of the drying out of floors. Very respectful and has such attention to detail and takes pride in his work. Edwards is not just for heating & plumbing but they do an excellent job if you need cleanup after a disaster like I experienced.

I wrote this review in November 2016, its is not showing any longer so am reposting.

I called Edwards because we had a drain backing up in our basement laundry room. The service representative came, and we discovered that not only were we backed up in the laundry room, but had sewage in another area of the basement. A terrible finding!!

Their rep proceeded to walk around and complain that we did not have the right service line for him to use. He was quite rude and condescending. We repeatedly showed him the line our other service providers had used before and he insisted on using another line. He spent 45 minutes, charged us $225, refused to guarantee his work and left.

Four days later we were backing up again, I called another service provider Sinks to Sewers and they came and used the drain we told the Edwards rep to use, and re power rodded the one Edwards did. They were very nice and helpful. All is good and have had no trouble since then.

I have called twice to complain and asked to speak to a manager at Edwards and have yet to get a call back in two weeks.  Do not use this service if you have a drain problem!

They did not properly back-fill an outdoor drain pipe replacement.  We have a small mound where they placed the dirt outside of the trench, and a long furrow next to it, with a clean-out exposed.  It's a potential trip-hazard in the dark.

After several phone calls and promises that a supervisor will get in touch, no one responded for months.  Eventually I got in touch with Tony (supervisor), who would tell me By the end of the month..  Didn't do it.  By the end of next week.  Didn't do it.  Monday or Tuesday next week.  Didn't do it.  Someday this week.  I also spoke with a field technician, Connor, who claimed it would be taken care of.

At this point I have given up, and I believe they simply lie with no intention of doing the work.  I would not trust the business's response about caring about the customer.

Additionally, when we had another back-up, they first performed a jetting to clean out roots.  The technicians did not bring a USB drive to record the image - I had to provide that.  They also didn't bring enough water - I had to hook them up with a hose so they could spend an hour refilling.  They also didn't bring the correct nozzle/head.  Not professional or competent so far.

Then they suggested a ~$4k dig to tear up the basement floor and put down new pipe (that's big money for them).  I hired another outfit to get a 2nd opinion - this time one that doesn't do digs, so that there wouldn't be a conflict of interest.  The 2nd plumber had much better equipment, was faster and cleaner, provided a video from their scope, and concluded there's absolutely no reason to replace the pipes - just keep them maintained.

They are an expensive outfit, so I would expect good customer service (and properly completed job) would be part of the package.  Go elsewhere.  They don't care about the customer, and have a conflict of interest where your best interests are not in their best financial interests.

Called this company on a Sunday at around 2-3pm for a sewage backup in the basement. They told me it would be 50-60 just to show up and they'd be here between 5-9pm. At 9pm I called them to inquire if they were still coming out and without telling him my name he knew exactly who I was but told me for some reason the scheduling never went through. He said that someone would come out still but since it was after 9pm I now had to pay 150.00 just for the tech to show up. I asked why I would have to pay that much if they gave me an estimated time with a price and didn't honor it. At that point his story changed and he tried to let me believe his service tech had been on a different job site for 5-7 hours. I will NEVER use this company and I suggest no one does either.

After ordering a new washer and dryer from Lowe's, the installers discovered a leak in the washer's hot water shut off valve. They didn't want to mess with the leak, and even took the washer back to the store to deliver at a later date.

I called Edwards Plumbing and Heating and Jason came out that day and said the leak was a minor issue and he could hook the washer up quickly. Unfortunately, we didn't have the washer. He said he could come back at any time over the weekend if needed.

We were able to get the washer delivered the next day and Edwards sent out Dan on a Saturday morning. The valve was very old and needed to be replaced. He drove around Ann Arbor looking for a match for the old part and finally located one in Belleville (!) before returning to install it and the washer.

The install cost twice as much as Jason indicated (thus four stars instead of five), but I'd say Dan went above and beyond the call of duty for a plumber. He was professional, friendly, and explained every step as he was working.

I would definitely recommend.

This company is a fraud, or at the very least incompetent when it comes to bills and invoices. They came out to camera the sewer for $245, which they did, however they told me I needed to replace my sewer for 6k. Got another opinion and was told it was still in serviceable condition. Canceled the sewer project with Edwards the next day.

Two weeks later I still haven't been billed for the camera inspection, which I was still planning to pay. Instead I get an angry call saying I'm being sent to collections for not paying the bill. I call as soon as I am able and they tell me I owe $400. After talking with them that it was only the camera inspection which they were advertising for $245, they agree to correct my bill. No response for a week.

Then at the end of November they bill me $3000 for the sewer replacement, which I cancelled and they never performed. Meanwhile they still have not corrected the bill for the camera inspection. I have spent the entire month of December fighting with them to get them to refund the unauthorized charge of $3000 and to get a corrected bill for the camera inspection.

When I do finally get a corrected invoice for the camera inspection going into their online pay portal it still shows I owe $400. They never actually corrected the bill they just changed the number on the invoice.

Never using this company again they have been fraudulent in how they bill and charge you. Still fighting to get the $3000 dollars refunded and inspection bill corrected.

I had a corroded pipe above the kitchen sink trap.  No biggie, something even I could have fixed had I not had to work.  The dispatcher told me the fee was $60.00, plus the cost of the repair.  Since a small length of PVC would do the job, I had thought that the repair would be no more than $100.00 at the most.  Boy, was I wrong. When the plumber arrived, he informed me that the fee would be $225.00.  When I expressed surprise, he reduced it to $202.00. I felt misled on the pricing.  Run, don't walk away from this company.

This business is a scam.

We had a leak. We called EPH, and it came in 8 hours late from the time they said they would come. The technician told us that the sump pump is broken. He changed our sump pump (which I think it is still good, because the well was dry when we opened it) with a lowly-made, used one (the box was open old) and charged us $149 (service fee)+$1000.

Next day the leak keeps on as the previous day. We called EPH and they said they will come between 12:00-7:00. Waited for 7 hours no body came. The next day they called over again and said they would come between 12:00-7:00. Waited for another 7 hours and no body came.

----

update: I am taking back my words: we had a terrible experience with this company. But honestly now nobody wants to come out to work. Even though they did a bunch of damage to our home and garden, fixed nothing, and cost us a fortune, They at least came out once for service.

Awful service. They give you a 4-hour long appointment window just to make you take time off and stay home so they can still not show up at the end. You stay home for 4 hours and not only do they not show up they don't even have the decency to give you a call and apologize. Even after calling them twice they don't even bother to apologize and simply say the previous job must have taken longer. Well, you are giving a 4 hour window and still can't respect that? Maybe you're overbooking your technicians just to mess with people's daily schedules.

I had a interesting experience with this business. I was really satisfied with the work done, very nice! Had some things happen with the financial end, but was able to get it taken care with the owner and even though there was some issues when I need more work done I will be giving em a call. When a man dies whats right you have to appreciate them for it.

What do I do now?  Still have a problem I called Edwards for the 4th time on the problem. They came out on a Saturday afternoon to get he air out of the system, lasted 2 days and came back. Now I have a leak in the system had water on the floor in the living room. They came out on Monday, and checked it out, tech said in so many words that it is my problem.
When i called on Monday I asked to talk to Scott 4 days later he still has not called me. This company  did not offer to fix or give me an idea on how to fix the problem. The pipe have been make this ungodly sound after install that could have caused the problem but I'm no pro they are and no answer.

Thanks again Edwards plumbing & heating

My water heater was not working and after multiple attempts to light the pilot I could not get it to stay lit. This was the first company my Father saw on the internet and had me call. I was delighted that they could see me the next afternoon (as I had called pretty late in the evening). I was given a time slot of 12 - 3 so I had to take half a personal business day from work. I lost out on $50 I would have received working because when I called at 3:15pm to find out if someone was still coming out I was informed that despite the fact I was told between 12 - 3 I was moved to the 5 - 8 slot. However, I completely understand that plumbing and making repairs is unpredictable and things happen. I was happy as long as someone was still coming out. At 6:55pm I got a phone call from a nice gentleman letting me know that they had not forgotten about me and that someone was still coming just caught at another job. Completely understandable and I truly appreciated the call. I had to call back two hours later though because it was now an hour past the later time slot and I was worried no one would be coming out.  I was put on hold and then hung up on. I called back and got someone. I apologized for bothering them but it was after 9pm and I wanted to make sure I wasn't staying up for nothing. 20 minutes later I got a call saying someone was on their way. I was very relieved when Randy showed up. He took a look and gave me estimates. He was very kind and respectful towards me despite my crazy barking dog and the time of night (now almost 10pm). He made sure to wear slips over his shoes as to not dirty my house and cleaned up after himself. He even waited patiently as I discussed with my Father on the phone what the diagnostics were. When I couldn't explain he also talked with my Father on the phone to explain to him for me. Being a younger homeowner and a single woman living alone, it is important to me that I always check with my Father before having work done on the house. He couldn't be at the house with me because of the late hour but I really appreciated Randy talking with my Father at my request. While I cannot afford to replace my entire water heater at this time I still appreciate the way things were handled, the kindness of the staff members, and of course, Randy who despite the late time came out to my house anyways to take a look. Thank you for the service and I will call again in due time when I need repairs.

For the sake of full disclosure (which is critical for the integrity of a website like Yelp), I had previously had a frustrating experience with Edwards Plumbing & Heating, and posted a review detailing as much.

Within 1-2 days of posting the review, I was contacted by the owner of the company, and after an initial misunderstanding, he went out of his way to contact me on the phone. We had a very productive conversation, during which he was understanding, apologetic, and, above all, very pleasant and reasonable. He reiterated that his goal is to provide the best service possible and to ensure customer satisfaction, and explained why my experience represented the culmination of a number of unfortunate events. Most importantly, he was committed to making things right.

When I thought about my first experience with Edwards Plumbing & Heating - which was incredibly positive, and which led me to contact them when a second plumbing issue arose - and my recent conversation with the owner, it became clear to me that the second experience was a unique aberration from the quality the company normally provides. I was so impressed by the owner, and the lengths to which he was willing to go to ensure I was satisfied, that I called them back to my house just a few days ago to install some parts in the kitchen. As expected, I was very impressed and satisfied with the job.

To that end, I've since deleted my initial post, and am replacing it with this one, which I think is much more representative of the company overall.

Finally, I would like to give Dave my highest recommendation. I was fortunate enough to meet him a while back, and specifically requested him for the most recent job in my kitchen. You won't find a plumber who is more pleasant, honest, and hard-working than him, and his years of experience are clearly reflected in the quality of the service he provides. He is meticulous, and does not believe in cutting corners. He is by and far the best plumber I've ever had the pleasure of hiring, and is truly an asset to the company.

Edwards Heating and Plumbing provided us with great customer service in getting a skilled plumber out here to our condo to fix the kitchen sink pipe between the garbage disposal and also provide us a solution and quote for fixing our humidifier water line and also for running a water line to our garage. Rick Fife was a very nice when he arrived, wore shoe covers, and explained everything he was doing while he made the repair and explained the solution and quotes for the water line and the water line repair for the humidifer. He came after my work hours at 6pm which allowed me to be able to not have to miss work.  I would use Rick Fife and Edwards Plumbing and Heating again for our HVAC and plumbing needs. I highly recommend them as a company and Rick as a plumbing and repair professional.

Great experience here--nothing major needed, but Im glad that all went well for our minor issue.

Good customer service--I received a lot of info over the phone even before scheduling an appointment.

Jason was friendly and experienced and gave us a lot of great information as well.

I'm not a huge fan of 3-hour scheduling appointments--most businesses do this anyway though. Just keep calling to check up on the whereabouts of the tech. I'm figuring they're kept pretty busy, and for the types of things I need done I'll trade an exact appointment time for a good price and getting it done right and quickly once they start.

I'm amending my review because James Edwards personally handled my problem, despite the fact that it occurred over a year ago. It turns out that my unfortunate experience was with a plumber who was soon fired from Edwards Plumbing, and therefore he should not be a problem for any other customers. I received a complete refund and I am very impressed with the company's dedication to customer service.

This review is for the Novi location.  This company is amazing!  I found a leak on Christmas Eve and was in a panic over whether it was an emergency or if it could wait until after the holidays.  I called Edwards Plumbing and Jen answered the phone and was the most helpful person I've ever had a service experience with.  She explained their holiday service charge compared to their standard service charge and said she didn't want to charge us the holiday charge if we could avoid it. She spoke with one of the plumbers and promptly called me back and said he would be willing to talk to me about the issue to determine if he needed to come out that day or if it could wait.  A few minutes later, she called me again and suggested I take pictures/video of the leak and text it to the plumber, Adam.  I did that and Adam called me right away and said that he was confident it wasn't catastrophic and it could wait until after Christmas.  He recommended I put a fan close to the leak to start pulling the moisture from the wood and said he would be able to come out the day after Christmas.  He came just like he said he would, found the issue within minutes and had it fixed quickly and  for a very reasonable cost.  I couldn't have had a better experience with both Jen and Adam.  Absolutely wonderful people and I would highly recommend!

My faith as been restored with Edward Plumbing and Heating.  The owner contacted me directly after I posted a negative review.  He was very sincere and apologetic and wanted to win my business back.  He was generous enough to give me a service credit on a future job.

Well about a month later, I decided that I wanted a second water meter installed in my home for our irrigation system.  I contacted EPH for a quote and to see if the service credit would still be there.

I will admit, I was skeptical at first.  Some companies would all of a sudden forget a credit was given.  But not EPH.  The credit was there and they assured me it would be applied to my service request.

Drew came out for an initial quote and the service was then scheduled for the following Saturday.  I was expecting Drew again, but it turns out Mr. Edwards sent out Bob, who is one of his foreman.  Bob and another plumber did a fantastic job.  They had to go get some parts, but were back within an hour and finished the job quickly and the work was great and they were very professional.

I'm glad I gave EPH a second chance.  They went above and beyond to gain my business back.  I even asked Bob for a quote for a Tankless Water Heater.  It's was a little high for my current budget, but maybe next year we will get it installed.  EPH will be the first company I call.

Thanks again to the owner for taking the time to personally address my concerns.  It is very rare these days where an owner would reach out to a customer who has posted a negative review...

I read these reviews thinking I would be satisfied with their service however I had a terrible experience with them. They gave me a four hour window for the initial estimate and then showed up late (after the 4 hr window) but I dealt with it even though I took a day off of work. Once Jason provided an estimate i scheduled an appointment with the company for 9am on a  Friday.  After not showing up and with no call from the company I call and they say they don't know what time he'll be available that day. I then rescheduled to the next day on Saturday after taking all of Friday off at that point! Again on Sat he was a no-show with no call from the company! Every time I called them they said he'd show up an hour later.  I gave up and ended up using Sinks and Sewers instead.

I'm writing an update that the owner called me and was unaware of the situation as he was vacation and apologized for the cancellation which I appreciate, and provided a credit for a future job and that this should not happen again.  I'm updating to 2 stars on this review because of this and will update based on my experience in the future.

We had a terrible experience with Edwards Heating and Plumbing. We have a home warranty and requested service. The initial service was great, but the issue we had required a second visit. We scheduled the second service date, and no one came and no one called. I called later to find out what happened, and could not get an answer. I called multiple times, and kept getting a we will find out and call you back. No one ever called back, and it required me to continue to call. When we finally got someone back out to our house, they quoted us a reasonable quote on the phone (home warranty wasn't going to cover all of it) and then it was more than double what that quote was, which to me seems unreasonable. The person who talked to us on the phone apparently doesn't know the actual cost of service, which is what we were told was the issue when we ended up paying hundreds more than we were initially told.

First, I must also say that I am not sure I have ever written a bad online review. I called EPH for outside spigot, toilet plugging and leaky shower.  Atrociously high quote. Close to $2,000. When I bulked, they came down by $100's.  Told me the kohler part expensive ($39.50 online). Disappeared 2 hrs to buy parts. Came back, told me almost done, disappeared again for over 1hr.  6:00 PM now, tried calling company to tell them had to leave for an event, terminal hold. Workers never said how long it would take or called to tell me running late.  they came back 6:20. I had to leave 6:30.  They told me job done at 6:30. Needed full payment.  Told them shower still leaking. Didn't have time to check rest of job.  They told me just residual water after turned water off.  Still leaking.  I had to leave. Asked them to come back tomorrow to finish job.  They actually blocked my car with their van, demanded payment, threatened to call police.  I asked them to call their boss and without even listening to my concerns he told me they would need to be fully paid or they would rip all the plumbing they put in out.  Meanwhile, toilet never addressed, shower still leaking, mess left in basement from outside spigot. They had turned on front spigot and now that was leaking. Suggested capping it for me....even I know that will freeze and burst in the winter.  I ended paying them half to get them out of my driveway and missed my event.  Now i have to hire someone else to fix their job.

If you need plumbing services in the Arbor/Ypsi area, Blair at Edwards Plumbing & Heating was AMAZING! He was super fast & knowledgeable, and friendly too. Taught me how to prevent problems in the future. Just an all around great job.

My furnace broke mid-evening so had to call in for emergency service. My service guy, Joe, was very professional, amenable, and knowledgeable. He found the problem, fixed it right then and there and for a reasonable price, especially since it was off hours.  Will definitely call again.  Thanks Joe!

I contacted Edwards Heating and Plumbing regarding a leaking garbage disposal at my rental home last week (9/11). I was told that they do not provide exact quotes over the phone but that they would waive the service fee if I would allow them to look at it and provide me with a quote. I agreed. At 3:35pm I received a call that the plumber was on his way to my rental home. At 5:00 I was contacted by the plumber stating that job was completed and I owed $480. I was SO upset. I never received a quote beforehand and I never agreed to them completing the work. In addition, he installed a standard, 1/2 HP Badger (retails at Lowes for $99). The job included NO additional or new pipes or any electrical work. It is a 6 year old home. It took him less than an hour to complete the job. I was contacted the next day by a supervisor and after a few back and forth conversations, I was given the option of paying $325 to close the account or $59 to have them come out and take the disposal out of the home. There was NO way I would inconvenience my renters so I felt pressured into paying the $325 for a service I never agreed to. I feel that I was taken advantage of.

I had a severe plumbing issue that I needed fixed quickly. Edwards Plumbing was the company I came across, and I have regretted this fact for a long time.

This company did a very poor job fixing the sewer line in my basement. In fact, I was told it was not to code by one of their employees when I called for a follow-up due to issues after the repair.

Additionally, as many others have noted, on two specific instances the company rescheduled my case for almost a full week. After actually keeping the appointment a man shows up and looks at my problem for a few minutes and explains that he will report his findings to the main office. I have yet to get any sort of feedback from the office. This company easily takes the cake for the worst costumer service that I have ever dealt with.

I had a sub- pump and water back -up  put in by Edwards Plumping,  it cost over $3000.  less than 18 months later the sub pump failed , on the weekend.  They sent someone out but they did nothing. They would not take any phone calls on the weekend and said the manager would contact us on Monday. They even put it in a text  message that no one was avilable on the weekend to help. I had to call multiple times on Monday and finally the owner did contact me and they replaced the pump .  The damage to my home from the sub -pump failure  was over 15 thousand dollars .

Even though they finally did replace the pump, they were awful at returning calls and did nothing over the weekend.  Not a company you want to use.

This company installed a water heater some years back. So yesterday I had the first problem in all those years. The control panel thing was blinking 7 lights and pause which indicated a faulty switch something or other. I called to schedule service and explained the issue (service codes). Funny thing is they could not find me in their system-no record. I thought that was odd since the sticker on the tank and the original paperwork clearly stated they installed the tank originally.  Anyway, the service call was prompt-about 3 hours after I initially called.

When the service man arrived he was polite. I took him to the water heater and he saw immediately the 7 flashing light sequence on the control panel. He then IMMEDIATELY said, Well, this is an old water heater and we need to replace the heater.  I explained to him there has never been a problem with this heater and how much would it cost to just replace the sensor (called a Flammable Vapor Sensor). He went on and on that the tank should be replaced, and quoted (immediately like it was planned-he knew the price), and stated $2,800 to replace the tank.

I said well how much just to replace the sensor. And again he went on and on about the company  does not like to do that because something else could go wrong. I said I would take my chances. (After all, I could do a lot of replacements on the existing tank before reaching the $2,800 for a new one). He said if he replaces the sensor and what if a few days later a gas valve goes out and has to be replaced?  Again, I said I would take my chances.  I had to work hard to get him out of the sell me a new tank mode that he was in.

After asking a forth time on how much to just replace the sensor, he said A few hundred dollars but he would have to check the price of the part and the parts places were closed on Saturday.  Then he went on and on about replacing the tank.  (I suppose I would expect such high pressure tactic from a car salesperson but not from a plumber). I paid the $60 service call fee and he was on his way.

Here's the thing:  I then did some checking online and guess what? The sensor is $30 retail and is a less than 5 minute repair because it's mounted on the outside of the tank anyway.  He quoted the hundreds to repair as a tactic to get me to say ok on the new $2,800 tank.

And oh yea, I checked the price of that tank online as well, and it was $1,000 retail from a big box shop. So $1,800 labor for a direct replacement?  Now everyone is surely entitled to make a profit in their business, I just don't want to be the one paying for that guy's kids college from a $30 part that he pounded me to turn into an almost $3,000 sale.

BTW: I called and had a second opinion from another (honest) plumber and guess what? He said Your tank is totally fine and just need a sensor, I have one in my truck. Total sensor replacement including the service call:  $125.  and I'm back in the hot water.

Clearly, this Edward's Plumbing company is NOT interested is serving the customer, they want to squeeze as much as they can out of you.

I am beginning to doubt that the Edward's guy that came out was even a plumber at all. I will bet he was a SALESMAN posing as a plumber.  He had no tool belt, never even bent down to look at the water heater or anything.  Just a lot of very high pressure trying to sell me something  that I did not need, and at very inflated prices.

I suppose it's no wonder Edward's Plumbing  has a  C- rating with the Better Business Bureau (Hindsight, I should have checked that first before ever calling them out).

Bob and Mike were the plumbers who came to our home to give a $50 estimate that took 5 minutes of there time.  The estimate was to install a bath tub faucet. The quote was for $515. Of course my husband was taken back by this. We didn't think a $60 faucet would cost over $450 to install. My husband stated to me,we could fix the whole bathroom for that price and chuckled nervously, as this price was unexpected for our budget. Bob told Alvin he was rude for laughing in his face. In addition, Bob commented to Alvin, you can either pay that price or do it yourself and service fee is 49.95 which can be applied to the cost. For Bob to come into our home and say you can do it yourself was very unprofessional on his part. We would not have called for a professional if we knew how to do the job. We were able to get another licensed plumber into our home the same day and charged us $275 with no service charge. The job was completed in just under 1 hour. Bob originally told us it will take about 2.5 hours. This is a very large gap with cost and time from one licensed plumber to another.

My experience with Edwards plumbing and heating was so fantastic that I can't put into words how grateful I am. The only reason I didn't put 5 stars was my experience with the off hours telephone support people. I called Saturday April 19th and spoke with the after-hours person. She was very pleasant and took down all my info and my limited description of what was going on. I told her it wasn't an emergency and I didn't feel the need to pay the emergency fee (being that Sunday was Easter) so I could wait until Monday.  She told me my appointment was Monday at 8am and that someone would call me before then to confirm. When I hadn't heard from anyone I called Monday at 7am to make sure I was on the calendar for 8am. The woman, Deanna, was rude and told me that It would cost me an additional $225.00 for them to page someone to call me. I reiterated several times that I was really just looking to confirm that someone would be at my house at 8am. She was no help at all.

At 8am I called the office and the woman who answered was helpful, kind, and apologetic for my experience, she told me that Mark would come out in less than an hour.

Mark showed up within 30 minutes. The nicest guy ever. He let me follow him around and I asked a lot of questions and he was happy to answer. Well, maybe it didn't make him happy, but I never knew if he wasn't. He had to go into a dirt floor basement with some cob webs and he was totally fine with that. He was in and out within an hour and it was really just an overall great experience. He told me how much it would cost me before he did any work and gave me a little break on the price because of the after-hours issues.

I would highly recommend this company. Matter of fact my best friend who lives pretty close has wants to add a new outside faucet to her house. I will tell her today to call Edwards and I will even stress to her to ask for Mark.

Great company, great personnel Kudos.

Very professional and efficient. The call center gave me a window of time when the plumber would arrive, and then gave me an update later in the day to narrow down when he would actually be there, which was really helpful. Reasonably priced and knowledgable. They also checked in the next week to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. I hope I don't need a plumber again soon, but if I do, I'll be calling these guys.

Misleading service fee advertising. The business is set to rip you off for about $160 at a visit when they do nothing. The selling line is, service visit is $59. If work and equipment is needed, additional charges will incur in $100/hour range. We had a service visit where nothing needed to be done. The technician came for 20 minutes and charged us in the $100 range plus $59 advertised visit fee. We called to complain and they ignored us. The technician who made the visit observed that he needed to make the charge to keep his job as that is what his supervision wanted him to do. What a rip off!

They promised to arrive at my house between 3 and 6pm so I scheduled my day around this time.  I called at 4pm to ask if they are coming by 6pm and they said yes.  So at 6pm when no plumber showed up and I received no call I called them.  They very arrogantly told me that they are busy and I will get a call when they are available to get to me.  I asked about the promise to arrive between 3 and 6pm and was told I would simply have to wait. No apologies.  Nothing but a nasty attitude that suggests they don't understand that I am the customer.  The person on the phone talked to me as if he was doing me a favor.  He just told me to wait until they have time and refused to give me any estimate of a new time of arrival.  I decided I would rather have my repair delayed than to give them any business.

Called for service on a Thermo-Coupler for a Hot Water Heater.  The 1st technician arrived and quoted an unreasonably high amount for the repair.  We refused service.  The owner James was concerned that the service call was not completed and took the time to personally call us to discuss the situation.  He apologized that the wrong price had been presented (in error) by the technician and offered to send another tech out to fix the problem at a much more fair, reasonable price.  I have respect for an owner who is personally involved in following up and making things right for customers.  Thank you.

AWFUL! I should've read these reviews first. The unprofessional, poorly written responses from the owner kind of tell the story. I called them today to fix a kitchen faucet handle and they gave me a time frame of between 1 and 4, saying it would probably be 2ish. I call about 230 asking how long it would be and they said another 30 to 45 minutes. I wait another 45 minutes and call back...they said the plumber got stuck in traffic, didn't give me an eta and just hung up. I wait another half hour and call again, this time they say the plumber isn't answering his phone, but they are sure he's in Ann Arbor and that they will call me right back. Another 10 minutes go by and no call back from them. So I call back and ask to speak to the supervisor who hangs up on me after I tell them they need to do their jobs. To sum up, no communication from the plumber WHO NEVER SHOWED UP and unprofessional and very poor communication from the office. 2 hours of my day totally wasted.
Update: I call back to speak to the owner to leave a message about the service  and the secretary takes my name and asks what I'm calling about. I explained it was poor service and I said it was disappointing to not get an apology. she then calls me an a$$hole and hangs up on me. Easily, the most unprofessional company I've EVER dealt with!

I had a very poor experience. The technician who came out to assess a leaky ceiling failed to provide a written report of findings despite us asking, and this led to us making extra phone calls searching for this invoice, while being charged $154 for the initial estimate. The technician also failed to explore other causes for leak given a bathroom sits above the targeted area.

When the problem was identified as a vent stack/seal problem, I was left no note or indication a service was completed at my house. The next day, I get called for payment, yet no documentation of what was done, what was repaired, and no verbal confirmation. Once prompted to provide this, I was given a verbal over the phone, yet again, no documentation, which prompted further phone calls seeking this.

When it came time for payment, I had provided my information over the phone yet somehow was not charged - so this information went to someone and it's unclear what happened to it, if my CC was not charged. I then get a rude voicemail from Misty stating that I was purposely not paying a past due amount, despite doing everything right on my part, and experiencing incompetence on theirs. To add insult to injury, I had to seek out a documented invoice for $300 as well as documentation of what was done to fix my problem - this should've been provided automatically prior to requesting someone pay this amount.

Last but not least - my ceiling leaks despite this fix, which I think owes to the fact that they did a poor job evaluating the source problem (for a hefty $154 for estimate only).

Edward's was the only company we could get to come out on emergency to replace a failed sump pump that flooded our basement. Brandon was very friendly and worked very hard in a tough situation, with a sump that was completely flooded on a Friday from 2:30 until about 6:30pm to replace the pump with a more powerful, Wi-Fi capable pump. He also gave us suggestions for further improvements we could make in the future. We are very grateful to Edward's Plumbing!

Would not recommend. I called them out for what was water seeping from a pipe. After making the repair and left, it became a drip and when the returned a second time, it now requires a towel to keep the water contained. I called and was told someone would be here Thursday only to be called back and told they couldn't come out until Saturday at 8:00 AM. I asked if they could get the needed parts and they assured me it wouldn't be a problem. Well it's Saturday and I received a called at 9:30 and they asked me if they were scheduled to come out today. I said yes at 8:00 he apologized and said someone would be there within 45 minutes. One and half hours later, I called them because no one had showed up. I was told they would check and call me back. I was immediately called back and told they couldn't get the needed parts because it was the weekend. Needless to say I will now be calling another company.

Company is working on a resolution. Will update review once work has been completed.

So I gave this company another try and had them come out a third time and again the leak is even worse. When I called them after the third failed attempt, they apologized and said they would send someone out between 8 and 9 in the morning. It is now 12:34 PM and they never showed up. What a messed up company. If I could give them no stars for the rating I would.

If I can help just one family or person by letting them know of the poor business management, higher prices and totally unsatisfactory costumer service offered by Edwards Plumbing and Heating, I will feel somewhat better.  18 months ago we had a small flood in our basement (3-4 inches).  Edward replaced the sump pump and put in a back up pump.  Also dug a trench through the backyard to the pond.  Very expensive at $6500.00. After several attempts to get a receipt, we gave up when calls were not returned and we were given the run around.  Fast forward to last week.  Our basement flooded again - this time 20-24 inches!!!  We called Edwards again thinking they might have some guarantee and would not charge as much.  WRONG!  Again a new sump pump and special powered backup system was installed as well as a new hot water heater which was knocked out due to the flood. This work was $6656. Because of the flood our HVAC system also needed to be replaced.  After receiving an estimate from Edwards and being told they would come the next day, we went with it.  However, they did not show up for four days so I finally called another company who was $1500 cheaper, have me a better quality system and was prompt and efficient.  If you want to save yourself a huge headache, DO NOT USE EDWARDS.  I THINK THEY ARE VERY CROOKED AND UNRELIABLE.  I hope this is helpful to someone.

Worst costumer service experience I've ever had. Wish I could give them a zero. Edward's does great work...when they actually make it to your house, and if they ever get you a quote. Scheduling with them is a nightmare. They either don't show up at all (no call or anything, after us having to take time off work), or make promises that they don't keep. When you call, you speak with someone different every time, and none of them communicate with each other. We've had a broken a/c for a week, and after being promised someone would come out last Friday, we had to beg them to actually show up (apparently there was a mistake in scheduling). The guy that came was really salty about having to be there on a Friday afternoon. Then we were promised a quote by Saturday morning and still nothing. We have 85+ degree days this week, and while they eventually got us a quote, a week after we asked for one- come to find out, it was waaaaaay above what others companies would charge (for the same product). So we got a quote from someone else, but now we will not have had air for two weeks. I'm very disappointed because we have given them loyal business over several years and they just don't seem to care if they keep us as costumers. We will be letting everyone we know to not work with Edward's.

Let me first of all say that I typically don't write these kind of reviews but I felt that I needed to in this case.

We called Edwards because our kitchen sink had been having a problem with low pressure and subsequently, we started to get leaking of the sink and obviously needed it to be repaired. They were able to schedule us very quickly, which was very helpful because with 3 small children, it is difficult to be without a kitchen sink. Travis, was the plumber and he came to the house. He was very courteous and nice. He diagnosed the problem with the sink and said that we needed a new faucet which would solve the problems with the leaking and the pressure. After discussion with his supervisor we got a quote of about $675 for the part and the installation which we thought was very high but we needed the sink fixed ASAP so we told him to go ahead (the faucet is a builder's grade faucet with no brand name on it). He finished the installation and the sink was no longer leaking but the water pressure didn't come back.

We then called Edwards back and they again scheduled us very quickly, and told us that they would come back out and would not charge us for coming out to diagnose the problem as it was a follow up to an existing issue. Travis again came out, and after checking different possibilities, he said that the hot water valve was not working and it would need to be replaced. He swaped the hot water hose to the cold water valve to show me that the hose was working properly and that the valve was the problem. He again discussed this with his supervisor who quoted us $165 and I told him that I thought that was quite a bit considering we were previously told (based on the original diagnosis) that the new faucet was going to take care of the issues (which is part of the reason we agreed to what we thought was a very high price). He then went back to his supervisor and came back with a new price of $125 which I reluctantly agreed to.

The sink was again working well until about 2 hours after he left when the cold water started to come out at what I would describe as slightly more than a trickle. We again called Edwards to discuss the problem and scheduled an appointment for 1pm-7pm (which was the timeframe for all the appointments) when we were first available to be home for that long timespan. We got a call at 6:50 from Travis who asked what's the problem now?. I again discussed this with him and he talked to his supervisor saying it would be another $125 to fix the cold water valve. I thought it was getting rather ridiculous at this point, and since he could not help me any further with the additional costs, I asked to talk to his supervisor who had apparently gone home for the day (it was 6:50pm). He said that he'd call me back the next morning. I never got a call. The day after that I called them. I had to tell the whole story to each person that I got transfered to (3 in totoal) when I finally got to Tom, who was the supervisor. We discussed the issue at length. He told me it was a separte issue and I asked if he thought it was a coincidence that it started to not work hours after his plumber had left the house. He said it most likely was which I thought was interesting! He said that he again wanted to talk to Travis before letting me know. I was at work that afternoon, so I asked if I could call him when I had a second and he said that I could. I called about an hour later and got his voicemail. No call back so I called again at 4:45, hoping to get him before he left for the day but he was already gone. I had to call back again the next day and finally got a hold of him. He basically said that it was a new problem and would be another $125 to fix it. He then asked me how much I thought they should charge and I said that I thought it should be part of the $800 that I had already paid to have this problem fixed. His reply was that's ridiculous.

I told him that I'd go somewhere else to have the sink repaired. I did (for the same bargin price that he quoted me).

I had simple plumbing to do with my bathroom fixtures.  They came out, quoted me a crazy price, but said I would be better off obtaining the parts myself to save a lot of money.  That work free visit cost me money.  They returned and completed the work with parts that I had provided, yet, still charge an exorbitant fee.  I inquired how 20 minutes of work can end up being hundreds of dollars.  Further, my initial visit fee was not applied!  Also, the sink is worse off than before they came out!  I agree with the other reviews that pose this company as profit driven and not at all conducting themselves like a reputable company.  Stay away!

These guys are really great: we scheduled an appointment within two days of calling and the guy, Jason, who came was friendly, very experienced, and efficient.  Even more, he noticed we had just moved into our condo and he offered, as part of the consultation, to look at all the plumbing and give his opinion.  So we learned who made everything, what their reputation and the history of the product was, what could be improved and at what price.  Then he replaced the U-pipe under our sink in ten minutes, and charged us only a minimum consultation fee for all this.

The only reason not to give them five stars is that there was a weird scheduling mixup.  Originally they gave us a 3-hour window from 11am, but we got a call at 9:30 saying the plumber is right there.  Turns out he was not literally at the door, but they asked if he could come within the hour.  This worked for us, but when 10:45 passed we called to inquire and it turns out the guy had been hanging around for quite a while not knowing what apartment we were in.  It might have been anyone's fault that they didn't have it, but he should have called us immediately to clarify.

It's weird complaining about the plumber coming early, but it's a schedule all the same and it would have been fine as originally planned; changing it at the last minute is no better in one direction than the other.

Regardless, we're very happy with these guys and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

I called for an estimate on some major plumbing work. They said they'd be there between 1-5 on Tuesday. Tuesday morning they called me at 7:30AM and wanted to come right then. I said no, the appointment was for 1-5 that afternoon. That afternoon came and went, and they never showed up. The next day they called and wanted to reschedule for Thursday (the next day) between 1-5. And they never showed for that appointment either. On Friday, they left me a voicemail 1PM saying they  wanted to come right then. Enough is enough.

If it's that hard to get their attention when you want to buy from them, imagine how hard it will be to get them to actually DO the work.
