Have used for years. Family run and they have always been good. Never charged me driving to my house! Very community active and always donated time and money to worthwhile causes. Have a nice web site made by a local artist. The men are always very polite and neat. The appointments can be a problem sometimes they get stuck on an earlier job or men don't come in and have to reschedule which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. One time they missed an appointment and my tenant had taken off from work so they came on Saturday with no overtime charge. Owners really know how to take care of customers and I think they are up to the third generation. They know the old houses better than another one truck company I tried. I think making an appointment for first thing in the morning works best.
Just horrible! I hired them over a year ago for a simple matter of filing documents with the NYC Dep't. of Buildings and absolutely nothing has been done...Dozens of messages and emails simply ignored. Their last concern is you, the client. Run away from them as fast as you can!

We called this company to come fix a sewage blockage at our place. The guy got here on time but decided to stand around looking at the problem, smoke cigarettes and talk to his helper before he started any real work. During work time he would stop, look around like he was thinking about stuff, again smoking, then would go back to work. At the end, he was not able to fix the problem. Out of the 4 hours that he was here, he worked total maybe hour and a half tops. He decided to charge me for 5 hours, which came to over $1300. I asked for him to call his boss so that I may talk to him and express my frustration. The boss didn't talk to me but talked to the worker and told him to charge me for 4 hours, which still came out to over $1000. Again, problem was not fixed. The worker said that in order to fix the problem, we needed to hire a contractor, had to dig an 8ft pit to remove drain caps, and hire another company to blow the drain system. It's clear that this guy did not have the experience to deal with this issue or the integrity to charge us a fair price. We decided to give this company a chance since they were local and we wanted to give them our business. We ended up having to hire another company the next day, who actually fixed the problem with only one guy and charged half the price. We are very disappointed with their work and service and do not recommend them at all. I wish there was a star system where I could put a negative number.
Called them up because I had problem with heat. Very nice man came to house. Checked my thermostat and boiler and found that a control stopped working. He fixed it and service boiler. Took an hour and half. Paid by credit card. Very nice experience.

I had a good experience with this Queens-based, family-owned plumber. My wife and I needed a gas dryer installed and Billharz was able to give us a free estimate. We almost had the dryer installed by Sears, which already charged us $70 for an estimate then wanted to charge us $180 for the installation package and $400 for the parts and labor ($650 total). Another plumber was going to charge us $700. After contacting 4 different contractors, Billharz was the most competent, friendly, reasonably-priced (came out to about $500).
A few reviews other reviews of Billharz from 2010 and 2011 described an unfriendly female customer service representative, however I didn't have that problem. The woman on the phone was friendly and it was easy to schedule an appointment for a free estimate.
Henri Billharz is the Vice President and he was the one that visited the home for the estimate. He was able to make other recommendations to strengthen the faucet/hoses connected to our washing machine and advised us on changes we can make to improve the safety of our garbage disposal. Two other plumbers came by the house and extended the gas line and connected the dryer. Unfortunately, the gas source in the basement was not turned on so the dryer was initially running cold. One quick e-mail to Henri and he was able to send his guys to fix the issue.
This company has been around for 90 years and is 3 generations of plumbers, they know what they're doing. It's good to support small, family-owned businesses and I will definitely be using them for future projects and repairs. If you're looking for a plumber in Queens, go with these guys, I've already done the homework for you!
Horrible!! Last Thursday and Monday they did not return phone calls. Had a 9 AM appointment, I'm still waiting at 11:20 AM for the plumbers, no reply to three phone calls this morning. One woman answering the phone was very rude. If my building didn't have an account with them I'd never have called them. The $145 an hour they charge starts when they leave their last job so I get to pay while they stop for a cup of coffee.

My family has used bilhartz for maybe 50 years. I think we're done with them. My 89 year old mother needed a boiler so I called Bilhartz,. they gave me a price they put it in and I sent them all the money. A week or two later I went up to visit my mom and saw that they had not installed the metal door for the front of the unit. My mom she said the serviceman threw it out. Upon further inspection I noticed the case for the boiler was also bent. That's probably why they threw away the door because it wouldn't fit anymore. When I called Henry he promised to order the replacement door and install it. That was in December it's now April. Since then I've made numerous calls to him his office emails and nothing.
Those guys are pros! From the owner to carefully selected team. Had issues with a pilot on a old house steam heat boiler. Another plumber that I have called based on extensive yelp reviews - was clueless, came twice wanting to rebuild everything, jacking up the price into thousands ... I said no! ... thinking for some extra I will replace a boiler ... but before the big purchase, I definitely wanted someone more trustworthy, so I drove to Billharz Plumbing office ( many if you maps.google do not have an office just a mail drop of a sort ) ... Shown him photos of the boiler the pilot light starter and provided the model number, thinking he would tell me the same - BUT to my very surprise - He told me oh yes this is very common and now we have special kits for this to replace obsolete parts ... cost under $200 ... and we have a opening late tomorrow to do it! Those guys are busy, so I was lucky.
Next day 2 young guys came in ... knew exactly what to do - very profesional! There were couple of other small issues with my old not serviced boiler which they've adjusted / fixed ... Made me feel very confident of what they were doing - explaining all to the level that I have understood. Those guys SAVED my Christmas!!!
I'm in the middle of renovating my place - and for ANY future plumbing I'll be calling JUST them! Those guys should be a first call anyone makes - before comparing - and I'm confident it will also be your final pick!
Ohhhhhhffffff. Do yourself a favor and do NOT use these guys. First.. the actual job they were hired to come and fix was WAY overpriced. The simple part was close to double what it goes for in the stores and hours are jacked on making a simple job inflated to an outlandish final amount. (That much I can at least tolerate but the night after the repair man was there the boiler started leaking.. called them back to mention the leak - also.. never refilled system after draining water to change the part.
Magically leak is unrelated anything they did and wanted to charge another service call.. a dozen other unprofessional things I'm just to tired and annoyed to even list.
Not having them fix the leak because I can't bare to overpay them one more cent.
I was charged $375.00 to replace a toilet water tank gasket, I could have bought a new toilet with this money. I am not coming back here.
This company has no idea what common courtesy is! I had work done that did not work/ I asked to honor this work, prices Are never discussed which i wasn't sure because I needed it fixed/ they came back and told me it was the piece they replaced/ again the gentleman said he would return or contact me, now I call office and they pretend they are going to follow up? I'm very disappointed about this whole situation!! 0 stars for lack of urgency also henri claims that he canceled? He said he was calling back or come back within the hour! he never called or came back! my feel here is he wasn't going to make money on this job and went to a job we he would !!!! if your a sunnyside or woodside resident look elsewhere/ this is coming from a lifetime neighborhood guy! !! look elsewhere
My house has an old gas Weil-Mclain boiler. I did a search for plumbers who included this brand and that is how I found Bill Harz Plumbing. That was about 3-4 years ago. They have come a few more times when this boiler had some other issues after the first emergency steam valve and new auto water feed needed to be replaced. The night before the big 2020 December snowstorm hit, the boiler just stopped. I called BHP but they were already booed for the full.day and with the storm coming were not sure. But then, they called early afternoon and said someone was on the way. That was Alessio. Super friendly and like a surgeon. He diagnosed, explained what was going on and did his meticulous and thorough work to replace the boiler's thermocouple (which had burnt out and the gas pilot light could not engage).
Thanks Alessio and Bill Harz Plumbing for saving the day, coming with the snowstorm beginning and warming our house again! I highly recommend them!
Do not use these plumbers!
We had Billharz Plumbing install a replacement Flushmate canister within our toilet tank. The problems started that night.
They did such a poor job that half the time the toilet would keep running unless you started jiggling and fiddling with the handle.
We never had this problem previously, with the original Flushmate during 5 years with 5 people regularly using the toilet.
So after two weeks, we called them to come back a 2nd time and rather than stand behind their work, they charged us for the 2nd service call.
When making the appointment, we were not told that we would be charged twice to fix their lousy work the first time.
Billharz Plumbing is an incompetent, deceptive, and fraudulent business.

Very nice and helpful. Simple job; just had to disconnect and move out the stove for repairs. but they went above and beyond what I would have expected and were fairly priced.
Henri was responsive to my project, read what was needed, & answered my questions quickly. Eric & his apprentice Murty was efficient & quick. The only thing was they release the water from the water heater tank the fast way & it caused some puddles of water flowing over the floor to the bathroom. But it was easily moped up with a bunch of rags. Billharz saved me money since they were authorized AO Smith, they were able to replace my heater at a minimal cost of $150 warranty fee & $50 delivery plus labor. I would definitely used them again for future projects. Thank you Billharz Plumbing!
Contacted this business to repair gas lines at my house. They came charged us to run tests stated they would call us back with a proposal to complete the work. Days & Days later we are still waiting. I guess the work is out of their scope!
My tenant had a clogged drain in bathtub and kitchen sink, and there was a leaky pipe in garage. They were there for an hour and a half and we were charged 1200 dollars. I would never use these crooks again.

In January someone from this company was at our house and made some minor adjustments to our heating system. They recommended that we call them back and have some of the rusted pipes looked at before they become a big problem.
I called them this week, got an appointment with Henry for Wednesday 1-3PM, when nobody called or showed up, I called and was told they have an emergency and will try to be there by 4pm. Since I had another appointment and could not wait at home for them, I rescheduled for Friday 10am-12noon. When I called at noon to see where Henry was the lady in the office told me that he is on an emergency and she can't reach him.
After attempting to get her to tell me when he might be here, she got mad at me and essentially said yours is only a free estimate, and we can't interrupt emergencies for that When I asked her if they are not interested in giving us an estimate and possibly getting the job, she said you do whatever you want and then informed me that Henri will NOT be coming today.
I am done with this company ...

Sewerage line was all blocked up over weekend. Called out an emergency service on my insurance but they couldnt fix it. Called Billhartz on their emergency no. and got a call back first thing Monday. They came round right away and fixed it without all the complaining of the previous guy (who made up a cock and bull story that i needed to have my toilet removed). Thanks Billhartz.... i used your services four times now and you've never let me down. If i could suggest one improvement it would be to offer a weekend service. Nonetheless they have well trained staff with all the right tools and experience.
I would give more stars if I could, I've had nothing but positive experiences with this company for nearly 20 years! My house is a fairly old Tudor in Queens and it's had its issues - basement flood, broken sump pump, multiple clogs, a hot water heater that needed replacing, etc. The people in the front office and the plumbers they've dispatched to my home are always friendly, responsive and professional, each issue is resolved at a fair price.
Yesterday around 5pm I noticed the house felt cold, sure enough the thermostat read 64 when it should've been 70, ugh! I called Billharz, it was after hours so I got their answering service, when I told agent we were without heat she said she would pass my message along marked urgent. Nicole from the office called me within 15 minutes and said that Henry, the business owner, would be to my home within the next half hour. He arrived and fixed the boiler, saving me and my kids from a really cold, uncomfortable evening. That's the commitment they have to their customers and that's why they're the only plumber I call on. Highly recommend!
I was at my boyfriend's house in Bayside and we noticed the bathtub was clogged up and wouldn't drain. We called this company because we had used them before with no problems. They told us they would come between 12 and 3 pm the next day, a Tuesday. Nobody showed up and nobody called. We called them at 5 pm but their office was closed. I called the next morning at 9 am and spoke to the woman who answered the phone at that time and she scheduled me for an appointment between 9 am - 12 noon for Thursday (the next day.) That morning I stayed home, waited and again, no one showed or called. I had to leave for the afternoon by 2 pm. A neighbor said the plumber showed up at 3 pm - and I received a call on my cellphone at that time. I told them to forget it and called another company. We are completely disappointed that this company has proved to be so unreliable. Schedule an appointment with this company at your own risk.

Henri Billharz wastes my time. He and his staff are very nice but Henry NEVER follows up or returns phone calls. Totally irresponsible.
Called yesterday for a leak on our toilet. Guy was on time (at the beginning of the promised time). Did the job explained everything he did and showed me how to make other adjustments. It took him longer to get my credit card processed (get your guys that square thing that allows them to process payments on site) over the phone. All in all, NO complaints...and high compliments.

I had a great experience with Billharz Plumbing. I recently moved into a new apartment and my stove had all sorts of problems. Too many problems to fix (it was a gas electric dual fuel) so I ordered a new stove... when I pulled the old stove away from the wall I noted there was no shut-off valve. I took a drywall saw and went to work, expecting to see the shut-off valve hidden behind the drywall. Nope. No shut-off valve as far as my flashlight could shine.
When I called Billharz the woman on the line was very friendly and walked me through the possibilities- told me who to followup with and what to look for when figuring out if the gas line would have to be shut off for the line or the building. They were flexible in scheduling an appointment and they were accommodating with my COOP Board.
When they came to do the work, the guy was friendly and neat. He explained all the possibilities and tracked the gas line (through the bathroom and behind the refrigerator) which turned out to be behind the dishwasher. He took his time to remove the dishwasher (which had been screwed into the cabinet) and explained that it should be attached under the counter (which would require a stone drill-bit) and then adjusted the waterline to the fridge which was a simple adjustment but now allows my ice-maker to be fully functional. He extended the pipe and installed a shut-off valve where it ought to be all within an hour and a half.
They were a little pricey, but I was confident in their work, their service and therefore willing to spend a little extra for peace of mind.

These guys did an oil to gas conversion for me. The price was reasonable (we got several bids they were in the middle). The job was quick and expertly done. They gave a good over view of what to expect then lined the services and performed on schedule. No surprises. Very solid.
6 months later I had an issue with the boiler. I made the dreaded call to see if they would stand by their work. Absolutely. Henri was at my house at 9am the next morning to solve my problem. That was a huge relief.
Based on my experience I would recommend them.
