Beware of this company. I called on a Saturday in the middle of the coldest weekend possible because my heat was not working and I couldn't get the pilot lit. I appreciate that Gary squeezed me in despite having many customers. What I do not appreciate is being told to do the dirty work because I am smaller than him. He literally told me to get down and try to stick the lighter in the back of the unit because it was easier for me. When I could not get the pilot lit, he told me I had to get on my knees. This is completely unprofessional. Getting on the floor is part of your profession.

In addition, he tried to charge me more than what he quoted on the phone. On my initial call to him, he quoted me $85 for the assessment. Once there, I asked him again and he told me $100. Luckily, I was able to pay just the $85 .

In short, I believe he took advantage of the fact that I am a new homeowner and am on the younger side.

I will never call Admiral Plumbing again nor will I recommend them to anyone.

This was one of the worst experience I had with a plumber. They charged me $475 dollars after knocking down $100 for a simple snake. They weren't able to fix the problem either. Those other reviews on here that's 5 stars are straight up fake because he Will Never get any business from me again. I've been in the real estate business for over 10 years. If you are looking to get ripped off go to him.

We got the invoice now. Gary had called to confirm the invoices. As I had mentioned service provided was good. Only problem was the delay in invoice. Since it's a third party vendor as he has mentioned, I'm updating my review.

If I could give this horrible company a negative 5 star review I would. Honestly, why be in a service business if it angers you to answer the phone?  I waited 9 hours and they never showed up!  When I agreed to reschedule and I called just to confirm I was treated with aggressive rudeness. I am seriously considering calling the police about the aggressive plumber who answers his own phone and has misdirected anger issues. Please schedule another company.

I called Gary about a leak in my new apartment relating to my dishwasher.   Amazingly enough Gary told me a couple things to check with it that might be the problem before he came out to check as he thought this might be an issue I could solve on my own cheaply before I had to pay someone.  I cannot tell you how pleased I am that some people are actually still looking to do right by their customers instead of trying to get them to pay.
I will Use Gary in the future if I have any plumbing needs.
Excellent service and much appreciated honesty.

This guy is a raging crook. He blocked our number when we were tying simply to get a receipt from him. He has a serious screw loose, and is a menace. I'm reporting him to the Better Business Bureau. If you use this company, you do so at your own peril. The MOST unprofessional behavior I have seen in my 40 years as a homeowner. They should lose their license. I was in tears after one exchange. He's cruel, especially to women. A nasty bully who should not be allowed to stay in business.

I was frantic because I had water gushing through a hole in the wall.  I called to see how quickly they could get to me and when they said 1.5 hrs I said I would keep checking local places. They had me hold then said 30 minutes. I suspected something was a little off when they just answered the phone 'hello' then asked how where did I find their number. The guy ended up taking 1 hr 15 min to get here. He didn't have any equipment with him and then told me my sump pump was in the wrong place and that I needed on installed in my closet where the water was coming from. (I'm basement level apt)
He asked if I needed help with the clean up. My bedroom was in about 2 inches of water and dirt and debris ran though my kitchen/living room area. I said that would be great. He said to give him 20 minutes and that he had to call to make a call and get some stuff.
In the meantime the main guy called me back and said it would be $900 to clean. (I'm in about 800 sq ft and about half of it flooded). I said I couldn't afford that... He explained all the sanitizing and things he would do. I then said can he just get the water up. They wanted to charge $600 for that and he was buying a shop vac from Home Depot as we spoke. I said never mind I will do it on my own.
They didn't even offer a temp fix and very little explanation to what was wrong besides sump pump is in the wrong spot and water was coming from the wall (obvious with hole & water gushing out)

I cleaned myself and called a different company who were way more informed.. Explained to me what happened, gave me suggestions for things to do until they could come back and fix the problem. In the end I didn't even need a new sump pump it was the pipes.

The person who answered the phone was very short with me and clearly couldnt be bothered with my problem.

Maybe their work is great, maybe he was having a bad day, idk, but I won't find out because I'm not going to hire someone who is a *ick on the phone.

Our shower drain was slow to the point of questioning whether or not it was actually draining. We had tried to snake it ourselves and draino which helped for a few days and then seemed to make things worse. I found Gary on Yelp and he was able to come out on a Saturday morning. He called to let me know when he was on his way and was able to fix the problem very quickly. He even let us know his concerns and assessment upfront and there were no issues. Now our drain works beautifully!

well, i called admiral plumbing based on reviews from yelp.  I had a drip in my shower.  The employee came around noon earlier this week, and 2 hours later still had not correctly identified the problem, and also had broken part of my shower.  As you can imagine, i began to think i made the wrong decision! His boss showed up, identified the issue right away, went out to get the new part (it was during the snowstorm on wednesday), and had employee go out and buy the part that he broke.  Within another two hours, everything was fixed and working properly.  Because of all this, he decided to give me the service as well as the part that was broken in the first place for free.  Although his employee could use some work, he's a stand up guy and runs a good company.  I would, b/c of this use them again.   Hopefully his employee also learned his lesson!

Very, very bad customer service. Trying to receive a copy of my work order is like pulling teeth. The office manager is not responsive.

Edit: So, I was called by contractor on the phone threatening me over my 1 star review. Apparently I am not entitled to my own opinion of the business. Luckily, I was in a conference room with CCTV and I placed him in speakerphone to have this documented. Wanted to come over to my apartment to discuss this and said I am attempting to rip off my homeowners insurance. Use your brain, whatever the issue is, I had to call American Home Shield because I didn't know what was wrong. You guys apparently did, hence you're the contractor!

ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL.

A Wonderful experience! Gary was not only very responsive and prompt but explained to me all my options and worked within my budget. He is dedicated to his work and has called back several times to follow-up on his work. He replaced my boiler in one day and disposed of my old one. His work is very professional and well done.

Came home to find the water heater dripping water into the condos garage great well this evening sucks.   Water heater done.  Called 2 plumbers no pick up went on yelp called Gary he picked up the phone I explained the problem we have a slow drip here not a emergency but obviously I need a new water heater because as of now this is done and now I have to shut off the water and therefor I have no hot water.  Gary came the next day as planned, knew what to do and the price was what I assumed for Hoboken .  In a few hours it was done, the old one was gone, they took everything with them, did a great job of making sure not to scratch the floors or hallways of the condo which was great since the association just painted them.  The whole process took a few hours from beginning to end but they also had other jobs going on too  so you can't hold that against them. Bottom line I like Gary and his crew came and did the job in less then 24 hours I have a new 50 gallon water heater while others didn't even pick up the phone, that's the kind of service I want when things go wrong .

Im a DIY type of girl, but plumbing is a little intimidating.  I contacted Admiral and not only did they beat a competitor's estimate by a few hundred dollars, they charged me a third of the original estimate.

They identified that my problem was not as significant ane even showed me how to swap out my own fixtures.  Great customer service.

Called for an estimate on some plumbing work and was rudely talked down to for not telling the representative to come and do the work. Told me to stop wasting plumbers time for calling and just asking for a price. Very unprofessional and off putting! Don't go with this company.

Edit: just goes to show how unprofessional you are when it takes you 2 months to comment back, and when you can't even correctly format your sentences. We also never asked you to come down so please get your facts straight before you talk.

** Tried to read your response Gary but it just sounds like the ramblings of a mad man...you're even pettier than I thought and believe me, the bar was set pretty darn low...CTFU .   Learn how to properly string a sentence together and btw, this is not social media.  We all can't be wrong with these one star reviews... we don't even know each other.   Accept the fact that these are our honest reviews  based on our experience with your company and your service is truly lacking. You're unreliable,  overpriced and unprofessional.  **

This company was contracted through American Home Shield when I called for service, both are HORRIBLE.   I contacted AHS because my steam boiler return line had started to leak the Monday before Thanksgiving,  they immediately charged me a $109 to get someone out for a diagnosis.  The technician from Admiral Plumbing came within a few hours, diagnosed the problem, called his boss, Gary, and said that the work would probably be done the next day if not, Wednesday at the latest.  Everything was finally submitted and approved by late Tuesday. Wednesday I spoke with Gary who said the earliest he could come would be Saturday at 9:30 a.m.  Despite my reluctance to move forward because he wanted to charge me $430 for access to the pipe, which I'll get to in a bit, I agreed. Needless to say Saturday morning just before 8:00 a.m. I called him to confirm 9:30.  At that time he says they're running late and it'll probably be around 11:00.  I expressed my dismay because I already had plans for later that evening and said I couldn't sit home all day waiting.  He said that I would have to because it's an all day job.  I told him that if they weren't at my house by 11:00 a.m. to just not come and I would call American Home Shield and have someone else make the repair.  He told me to call them right then so I did just that.  BEST DECISION EVAH!!!  I found a local company on  my own that handles heating and plumbing unlike Gary who at best is just a plumber.   They gave me a 12:00 - 1:00 pm window to look at the problem.  They got to my home just before 1:00 pm, gave me a price which I agreed to (price was for labor and material, they did not even charge me for access since it was so insignificant) and the job was done in just under 4 hours. They left a few minutes after 5:00 pm.  It never takes all day to replace a single piece of straight pipe, even if you have to cut through a wall/ceiling to get to the other end unless you don't know what you're doing.  I read all of Gary's one star reviews and couldn't understand why American Home Shield would even contract with that company, but those 1 stars are correct.  And Gary, I read all your spiteful responses so I'm waiting for you to reply to mine so here is a picture of the damaged pipe along with the 'access' hole that was made by the company I hired (true professionals that came to fix the problem) for everyone to decide on their own if $430 for access alone to the pipe is legit in any way, and if that work should take all day to get done.

I had a problem with my sewer line where it was backing up to my toilet and bath tub. Sent an email to Gary at Admiral Plumbing Sewer and Drain Cleaning and responded within an hour. He sent his plumber, Kenny, real nice guy and listen and observed the issue that was happening. He identify it was the sewer line going out that was blocked. He was able to get it cleared within 1.5 hours. Very professional, and cleaned up after themselves. I would recommend Admiral if you need a fix.  Not sure why there are negative reviews but my experience was phenomenal.

I had a couple of issues with the toilet and downstairs neighbors complaining about leaking from the ceiling.  Gary was very courteous diagnosed the problems, fixed the toilet and since the hardware all seemed in good conditions, caulked up areas water could possibly be getting through.  Since the neighbors are away for the weekend, he couldn't check to make sure the leak was stopped, but would fix any issues not caused by bigger issues in the pipes behind the wall.

The worst, most unprofessional, unethical, and belligerent plumbing professional I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.  From the moment he arrived, he complained about the difficulty of the job, and told me that I was getting a great deal. I had to remind him that he had not yet given me a quote and that I'd need one before he could start. He then quoted me a price that included a key part for $30.  After opening the shower (it is now unusable), the shakedown started.  He said that the replacement part was very expensive and would cost $150 and that I'd have to pay more.  I asked for the part number and he refused to give it to me.  I googled my shower model to get the part number and found the part at Home Depot for $38. When I asked him to get the part from Home Depot, he said that Home Depot lies to draw in gullible people such as myself. When I said I was going to call Home Depot to confirm the price, he belittled me further.  Then, he demanded a deposit and said that he might come next week to fix the shower leaving the shower completely unusable. Avoid at all costs!

Note that my review is from just inquiring about their services. I only contacted them per the high reviews on Yelp, only to be disappointed. I did not hire them due to rude customer service and lack of information.

I called Admiral to request a quote for an overall inspection of the sewage line with a report + cost breakdown for repairs. They quoted me $75. Then I asked for the cost to run a video camera inspection of the sewer pipes within the home and out to the street -- they said they'd let me know the costs while they're on-site to determine that. They would not even provide me with any sort of estimate! Who knows what crazy amount they could have potentially charged me. Seems shady, do not recommend.

I called them to get a quote for AC repair. Guy was very nice on the phone, told me he would be able to have someone take a look the next day around noon & he would call me back in 1 hour to confirm. Never called and its 12pm the next day. Very unprofessional.

I called them based on their yelp stars. But it seems most of the 5 star reviews seem to be coming from folks who have 1 or 2 other reviews. A little shady, just like the other reviews from Yelpers who have at least 10 or 20 seem to say.

I would read those reviews and am in a way happy I never had to deal with them.

My pilot light went out on my water heater and I wasn't able to get it to stay lit. These guys came out early the next day and were able to fix the issue. They originally thought, as did I, that replacing the thermocouple would fix the issue but it did not. They ended up replacing the entire gas valve which was much more expensive and took much longer than I was hoping. But my heat and hot water are back so I'm a happy camper. They accept check and credit card. Tax was not included in the quote so ask about that.

I called this company for a 2 non-emergent issues in our apartment that I wanted to get fixed- dishwasher drainage and a weakening toilet flush. I spoke to someone on the phone and inquired about how much each might cost (a rough estimate). I was told in sequence that he didn't know, because a) We might need a new dishwasher and b) We might need a new toilet. This should have been a sign to stop right there. But based on some good Yelp reviews, we booked a time for the next day at 3pm. Of course, at the last minute after booking the appointment I was quoted the $75 fee for coming to assess the situation. 4:15pm rolls around and no one has shown up or called. Why bother making an appointment? We called to cancel the appointment and the guy on the phone sounded surprised we wanted to cancel after only waiting for an hour.
I know this isn't considered a luxury home service, but please show a little respect for people who have come home early from paying jobs to wait for you. Don't bother calling this company, they won't show up on time.

They do good work but very pricey. Make sure to bring them work quotes from other plumbers, otherwise they'll overcharge you - a lot. Also, don't bother buying the Yelp voucher, they wont accept it unless you present the voucher before work has started... which only makes sense if they are adjusting their price to match the cash they lose with a Yelp voucher.

Can't review their work but I can tell you that dealing with them has been a nightmare:

- Called Gary who sent one of his guys Johnny to have a look at a leak.
- We could not access to the unit below where the problem seemed to be happening
- Johnny called Gary, Gary told him to charge me $75 for the 10min he spent there, and to add $125 good faith payment
- I should not have paid that in retrospect that was my mistake. No doubt about that.
- The building management sent their own plumber a few days later and took vare of the issue.
- I called Gary to get my $125 back but all I got were lies and no money. It's in the mail he's been saying.

I have given up on that money.

AVOID

We called these folks after another company's phone service person was super rude to us. These guys were very polite and professional from the start.

Kenny in particular was great! He was friendly and knowledgable and willing to go the extra mile to get our furnace replaced in a single day. Our blower motor was shot and he walked us through the options and prices of replacing it versus replacing the furnace (which was 20+ years old). It was clear he was genuine and trustworthy. I even left him at my house alone while I ran an errand.

When we have to replace our water heater we'll call these guys again!

AVOID; should've trusted my gut regarding red flags below.

- missed first appointment, no call or explanation as to why.

- sent over subcontractor who disappeared for an hour+ when I asked for a quote on simply changing kitchen faucet.

- did not accept the Yelp coupon/deal he had a while back and said only 'good for certain services.'  I asked him which services, he had no answer.

- upon receipt of my credit card info, he calls back after a couple of minutes to mention that I HAD to use a modern kitchen faucet, despite his subcontractor (and another plumber) saying standard faucet was fine.

- he UPCHARGED me significantly for the 'upgraded faucet,' only to find out he actually used the standard, cheap, basic.

- after months of saying he would reimburse me for the overcharge, he's now MIA and doesn't respond to emails or calls, no reimbursement in sight.

I have call logs and emails to corroborate my story; stay away from this company.

To be fair, I'll update my review if I ever get the check (doubt it at this point).

I've used Titanium Plumbing with 2 other jobs since then and they were prompt, better priced, clean, and much more professional.

If I could have given this company zero stars I would have. Be ware of this scam artist. I called Admiral Plumbing 4 days ago about a non working boiler. Within 5 minutes of getting into my basement to examine the boiler, Gary wanted to know who my plumber was and claimed everything was wrong with my plumbing. That was the 1st red flag for me with Gary, because I have owned and lived in my home for 13 years now and didn't have any unusual plumbing problems. He then proceeds to diagnose the problem and wants $575 to correct the problem.

He claims a damper and roll out switch need to be replaced. I tell him I will get back to him. I paid him $75 for the service call and he would accept a check as payment not credit card, 2nd red flag. As a consumer, if you  are defrauded by a business, a credit card company will refund the charge. In this case with him not accepting credit card, I'm sh-- out of luck.   He also tells me to write my email address in the memo area and he would email an invoice. Well 4 days later and him already cashing my check, still no invoice, 3rd red flag.

I just had another service company come in and they found no problem with the damper only the roll out switch and a water tank on the boiler needed to be replaced. Total price of $236 for parts and labor, and my boiler is up and running.

Stay away from Admiral Plumbing and Gary.

This review is solely based on their customer service, or that lack thereof.

My colleagues and I were in a conference room when this company called my colleague. The person on the other end was so rude. The colleague he was calling placed him on speaker and the had the conversation recorded.

I can't say anything about the quality of this work, but I definitely feel they have no respect for customers and and con artists. The person kept saying there was nothing wrong, however, the company went to his residence 2 times. Why go there twice if nothing was wrong?

I would give them -100 stars if possible. A month ago I called to get an estimate for plumbing work in the kitchen. We established it is free. Gary comes over (30 min late no worries I don't need to rush back to work right), talks for 10 min and asks for his payment of $75. Not what we agreed to but he drove here to get me an estimation so if I need to pay to get the numbers, fine. I paid. A month, a numerous emails and phone calls and still no quote from him just lame excuses such as system was broke or software had a glitch....OK so if you can see on your screen the estimated number, just email me back - read it to me on the phone - send a pigeon do SOMETHING! I asked for a refund, do not have time for these games. He promised he will send it back. Shockingly a week after he emails me that he will refund only half the money...UNPROFESSIONAL to say the least.

Called. No one picked up. 2 minutes later, called 2nd time. Some guy picked up. No hi or anything, just responded with yes?. Told him drainage is clogged and water was flowing. He told me to hold on a second as there was an incoming call. Put me on hold for 4 minutes and then disconnected. Horrible customer service. Would not recommend to anyone.

We bought a brand-new water heater and once it was installed we found out it had defective parts.   I called Admiral Plumbing and they came right away to help. They have knowledgable technician and know what they are doing.  I definitely recommend them and will call for future plumbing jobs.  Thank you for doing a great job.

Had a problem with the spout in my bathtub so I turned to Yelp to look for a plumber in Jersey City. I found Admiral, gave them a call, and 45 minutes later Felix was over. He quickly took out the old one, ran out to get a new one that matched the old one exactly (except much shinier!) and had it replaced quickly. Gary, the owner, came by at the end of the call to address a clogged sink. Finding a plumber that can come on short notice, quickly diagnose and fix a problem, and do that all at very reasonable prices is pretty much the holy grail, so I know who I'll be calling the next time I run into any issues.

In the middle of a DYI bathroom renovation I realized my piping would not allow me to install my vanity in the exact location I desired (wanted it centered with the door). Problem was my vanity has draws on the right side and the cold water pipe exited the wall at the exact location of the draw rail. At this point I decided either install the vanity where the piping allowed, exchange the vanity for a vanity of lesser preference or call a plumber and have the cold water pipe moved. So I started researching plumbers and at 8am starting making phone calls to plumbers in the Hoboken/Jersey City area. Gary at Admiral was the only plumber who answered my call at this early hour (out of the other three plumbers I called and left voice messages for only one called me back and that was 2 hours later). Gary was at my house before noon same day. Within a more than reasonable time, and for a reasonable price, he fixed my problem. My vanity is now installed in the exact location I had chosen. Thank you Gary! You're the man!

What a joke.  I called this guy off yelp last week, and he never showed up when he was supposed to.  Didn't even call to say he wasn't going to make it.  He even had the nerve to quote me a price that was higher than when I first talked to him.  Shady.  Stay away.
