We Purchase a new property and the basement drain would not drain. We did not wanna spend a lot of money and we saw a truck advertising $99 to clear any drain. I called them they came out cleared the drain for $99 it was very affordable like the name of the company. They even threw in a few extra parts. We gave the technician some money for a soda.

I am beginning my 30th year as a Realtor in Kansas City, and Affordable Plumbing and Sewer has been and are my go to company for sewer line inspection/repair for at least the last 10 years. Rick, Jeff, Penny, Colby,Randy have been nothing but helpful, honest, johnny on the spot to assist me in getting an inspection scheduled, a written estimate or completing the job. Heck in the early years Rick finished a job on Christmas eve, after 6pm. I am forever in his debt for this type of service. I appreciate the whole crew. Have referred them, and will continue to do so. They are a great company, with a great group of people running it. Happy with everything they do.

Not only was this company very reasonably priced, but the service was great. I had a clogged kitchen sink and they were able to come out by noon the same day and fix my drain. The plumber (Kevin) was very knowledgeable, speedy and friendly. I will definitely use affordable plumbing in the future.

Major plumbing issues can be really stressful!!! Rick was amazing and saved the day! We were given a large quote by another company along with a list of demands move your AC & remove your deck beam then call us to start the work.... needless to say the $$$$ and stress along with water backing up almost drove me over the edge. Rick came in quoted us $1400 under the last people and we didn't have to move a thing! He started by doing all he could do by working around our ac and we didn't have to remove our deck post!!!! I am so impressed with this company and Rick I want to tell everyone!!! Best decision my husband ever made was to get Rick out here with Affordable Plumbing!!
#happywifehappylife. Thank you again Rick!

I can't say enough good things about Penny and Rick at Affordable Plumbing!  My renter told me this afternoon that there was an issue the toilet (the tank was not filling up with water.)  I wanted to get someone out there right away.  I called two different plumbers and didn't hear back from the other.  Penny called back right away and sent Rick right out.  The water needed to be shut off completely and unfortunately the turn off broke - no fault to Rick - it could have happened to anyone.  He called me right away and I put him in touch with our HOA POC.  They worked it out on their end and the next thing I knew, Rick was calling me to tell me all was fixed.  Not only did he come out last minute today but fixed it in the same day.  Professional and would highly recommend this crew!  Thanks again, Penny and Rick!

See photos from my experience with Affordable Plumbing and Sewer and Roman's photos at end of the 28 pictures posted for this business and decided for yourself if you want someone in your home that could do major damage to your home and not take responsibility for that damage.
Owner talks a good game but read the bad reviews and how he really treats his customers when his company makes a major plumbing mistake.  What he stated to another customer is not what he practices.

According to Chuck the technician who showed up. The scheduler can't give you estimates. So when Chuck told me the price which was outrageous and I said forget it, still charged me $75.00 for showing up. What a racquet.  Stay very far away.

We had roots that had made their way into our main sewer line that caused a back up into the basement every 6 months.  Rick came out and replaced our main line.  Even though the job was a bit tougher than he expected (the cement in our basement was thicker than most), Rick completed the job in one day and did not try to get more money from us.  He was very professional and did an amazing job, and the cost was about $2,000 to $3,000 less than the other estimates I had received.  I will be using Rick again for my plumbing needs!

I contacted Affordable Plumbing after I found out my sewer was backed up with something.  I found the company very speedy with sending someone out to assess my yard. I found the estimate very reasonable and I therefore had Affordable Plumbing do the job.  Rick was out two days after I initially met with Affordable Plumbing.  He was very informative and got right to work!  He kept me appraised during the entire time on what is the next step until completion of the project.  He is amazing and I highly recommend Affordable Plumbing and Sewer to everyone!! Thanks so much Rick!! You are very much appreciated!

We woke up to our water heater gushing hot water all over our basement. We got 3 quotes from 3 different plumbers. Not only was the quote from Affordable Plumbing much lower, but we got exactly what we needed, no more no less. Rick gave us our options for repairs and didn't try to up-sell us, like the others did. He finished the repair and got us hot water a full 3 days before the other plumbers could. Rick is now our go-to for plumbing, and we highly recommend his services.

If you want fast service apparently leaving an email message on their website is a big mistake!! As they are really not 24/7 as claimed! I left a message on Friday never heard anything from them I called them at 130 Monday and it's not going to happen for me !! Obviously there is no minus star as that's what I would leave !!

Rick Ramsey and Jeff Meeks of affordable plumbing are outstanding. Jeff replaced the main stack in our basement which was probably the original put in the house built in the 1930s. Rick examined our main sewer line that connects with the city sewer line. Highly recommend Rick and Jeff and affordable plumbing. Reasonable price, the guys are prompt, and I do a super job.

Rick just left my house (at 10:30am on a Sunday, no less) from cleaning out our main line. He did an awesome job and these guys were so great and easy to communicate with. They seem to be a good, honest company who are literally just looking out for the best interests of their customers. We got great, unbiased advice on what was best  for our situation. Also, no up-charges for weekend work!

We will definitely not hesitate to call Affordable P&S again the next time we have a plumbing issue.

To make a long story short, I hired Affordable Plumbing to do work on my home because the buyer's agent for our home sale wanted us to use them.  They did the initial inspection and recommended the work that needed to be done.  My wife and I hired them to do that work and here is where our trouble started.  Matt, our technician, called me saying he was at an address 30 minutes away (obviously an office error) then accused me of doing something wrong.  When he arrived at my house he apologized and got to work.  When he finished, he told me my sewer line had been cleaned and that he had confirmed it with a video scope.  Our buyer needed a recording of the video scope, which we did not receive from Affordable plumbing, so they hired them again to come out and rescope. This time the technician, Jeff, said that the lines were not only not clean but hadn't even been cleared of major obstructions.  He could not even get to the main sewer pipe.  When I called to ask about receiving a refund, Kim, the office manager, was extremely professional but (after several conversations) said that her boss was unwilling to give us a full refund.  I insisted on a full refund because they did not do the work we hired them to do.  Instead of speaking with me, the owner, Rick, called my wife.  He was rude, condescending, and unprofessional.  He also decided that he would not give us any refund at all.  We have filed a complaint with the better business bureau and hope that this review will help any others out there choose a company that has the dignity to do the right thing when their work is unsatisfactory.

Not honest to say the least! After an Affordable Plumbing and Sewer technician came to an inspection (on our potential new home) to perform a sewer scope, the technician reported the main was fine until the spring.

We had a sewer main line backup one month after moving in - due to tree roots. Affordable Plumbing told us they sent the report with mention of roots in the main - which we did not receive at the time of service. After questioning the office, they sent an invoice via email (the first time we saw the report). The original invoice, Affordable Plumbing sent went to the wrong address with the wrong location listed on the invoice. They reported their technicians always inform the client of the potential issues - THIS IS NOT TRUE! If we knew (at that time) there were roots in the main line, we would have had the issue fixed or asked the owner to fix the issue prior to us moving in! Why would anyone move into a new home knowing there could be the potential possibility of sewer backup?

We received an apology for the misunderstanding however, this doesn't cover the cleanup of sewer back up dirty water over a good part of the basement and the additional cost of another plumbing company coming out on a Friday evening to do the right job!

They are NOT listed with the BBB of KC! In addition, we notice any negative ads are removed from Yelp promptly.

They can keep the $99.00 and I will keep posting this for all to beware!

We were very happy with our experience with Affordable Plumbing!  Matt replaced our bathroom sink faucet, installed our new dishwasher, and made some changes to our kitchen plumbing to work with the new dishwasher.  He was very efficient and thorough and took the time to explain everything to us.

His prices were very reasonable!  After he left, we called him with a question and he was very nice to answer it thoroughly in a timely manner.  My ONLY complaint was that he did show up a little late, but I wouldn't choose to work with anyone else.  Thanks for a great job!

Let me share a story about my experience with Rick Ramsey of Affordable Plumbing & Sewer.

First, a little background...

My wife and I came home one day to a foul smell in our house. Long story short, I went downstairs to find our sump pump full of water/sewage and it was STEAMING. I ended up finding out that our sump pump motor had stopped working, but was still on and it was heating the water. You can imagine how fun it was using a ShopVac to clean up that mess.

Anyway, I ended up having another company (I wish I would have found Rick earlier) replace the sump pump motors in both of our sump pump pits. I then had the sewer line camera'd (I used a great company for this...again, before I found Rick as he does this too) and they basically told me that we had cracks in pipes from both of the stacks in our house.

And now the hunt for a quality sewer line replacement company in Kansas City began. I talked to the guys that installed the sump pumps, but wasn't confident in their abilities and just didn't have a good feel for them. I looked on Angie's List and contacted one of the companies, who came out and told me what they thought needed to be done. But when I got the quote, it was extremely high. I replied back to them and said I'm not going to pay several mortgage payments to have this done.

So again I did a Google Search and that's when I came across Rick Ramsey and Affordable Plumbing and Sewer. I called Rick and told him what was going on. He came out that night (around 6:30 p.m.) and walked through the situation with me. He told me what needed to be done and how he thought it would work. He later sent me a proposal and I agreed to move forward.

Rick initially thought it would take a day to get the work done, but as can happen with projects of this scope, it ended up taking longer (but he didn't increase the price as his proposal included a fixed price for labor and materials...something he advised me to request no matter who I hired to do the work).

Rick was at our house for a couple of days and jackhammered up the floor in a few spots, replaced two stretches of sewer line from two different stacks in our house, replaced the kitchen drain line (which we also found out had cracks in it), removed all of the concrete and debris (and believe me...there was a TON of it), cleaned out our sewer line all the way to the city main (and brought back some tree roots with it), and installed two new toilets that we purchased.

Rick also educated me on how the plumbing industry works in Kansas City and, frankly, it made me sick to my stomach. Needless to say, there are a lot of consumers getting screwed by two-bit plumbers and also companies that spend thousands of dollars to market on the radio and tv every month.

I was dreading (literally almost sick to my stomach) this project before it started...just imagining having my basement floor torn up, dust everywhere throughout our house from the jackhammering, etc, etc....and in the end I'm so very thankful I found Rick because he did quality work for a quality price. On top of it all, I felt like he was honest with me throughout the process...and that's something that isn't common in his industry.

I highly recommend Rick Ramsey and Affordable Plumbing and Sewer if you ever have plumbing needs. And I hope you never have to go through sewer line replacement like I did, but if you do, Rick is the guy to call.

They were great to deal with and did good work and really great price compared to others. But be sure to have in writing what they are doing or check the work after. They replaced the old sewer line in my crawl space, but left all the old corroded nasty pipe in there and underneath the deck! I gave them a call to give them a chance to come take care of it, they said they would be out the following week. They never did. Called again and didn't answer. We had recently done a new vapor barrier and cleaned up the crawl space. Now with the warmer temperatures the stench of that pipe is coming through my floor, especially out on the deck. They left all the tape and piping scraps everywhere too. Sloppy.

Some reviews say this guy's great, some say he never calls back.  I called him, he came right over and found my cleanout behind a wall; I had to remove some wall paneling first, so he was going to come back later.  Never did.  Never called.  I called again a couple days later and he said he'd be over soon.  Never came, never called.  He seems to be a real nice guy, and he works hard, but he seems to take on more than he can get done in the time available.

Best sewer company EVER.  Called three plumbers in prior to these guys and almost nobody gave us a good explanation of the problem with our sewer drain.  Jeff knew exactly what to do and his price was lower.  Fixed the problem in one day.  Unbelievable!  Very honest company too as they ran into a few complications that took more time, but they completed the project at no extra charge.  Their answering service is a bit disorganized so sometimes they don't get their messages.  I thought about giving them only 4 stars for that reason, but hey, they earned the five stars.  Keep calling, it's worth it!

OUTSTANDING!!!!  This is the one and only plumbing company you will ever need to call.  Just as the name implies, they are affordable, but beyond that, they are also honest, knowledgeable, and fast!  It's definitely a company that believes in doing it right the first time and will not try to upsell things that are not needed or make you think that there are issues when there are not.

I had an issue with my main line that I knew would need something more than a quick snake cleaning.  Temporarily, the snake was needed but Rick used a camera down the line and was able to show me and diagnose the problem without a lot of speculation and hot air, like most major companies.  I was so worried about such a major repair but he really put my mind at ease.  Nothing was presented as critical (which I knew it wasn't), everything was explained in great detail, and he was very open to additional questions.

Although I had a minor repair today, I am scheduling ALL my future plumbing needs with Affordable Plumbing & Sewer which will include a new hot water heater, stack replacement, trenchless repair to my main line and upgrading my lines within the house.  I will update my review with even more glowing reviews once the jobs have been completed.  (yes, these are all repairs that have been known and needed by me before speaking to Affordable)

Unfortunately I trusted them, and that ended up costing me thousands of dollars and days of stress.

I did a home inspection with them. Their employee told me it would cost $X to fix an issue. He said he doesn't know exactly the cause so X is an upper limit (it was high). I asked him specifically, very explicitly, if X is just an estimate or if that's definitely the highest cost it would be, and he made it very clear that X is going to be the maximum I would have to pay to get it fixed.

So I went ahead and bought the house. The next day, the owner came and looked at the issue and told me it's actually going to be much much more expensive, perhaps 3-4 times the original price. This is not small money, not a few hundreds of dollars, so this was very upsetting to hear. I bought the house with the understanding that it will only cost X, not 3 or 4X to get it livable. I have my phone calls with the employee recorded where he clearly promised X is the maximum it will cost.

Rick, the owner, did not honour his employee's guarantee. I understand it was not the owner's fault, the employee should not have promised me something he could not deliver, but that kind of mistake should be the responsibility of the company, I should not be the one paying for their error. A professional would own up to his employee's mistake, Rick instead chose the path of yelling at me, hanging up the phone on me, threatening me, essentially doing anything to prove to me how unprofessional and unreliable his company is.

The good news is that I did find a great trustworthy nice plumber a few days later, who was much more honest and pleasant to deal with. So thank you for that Rick :)

Over the years, I have relied on Affordable Plumbing not only for my clients needs but for my personal house and my rental properties as well. Ric and his team are some of the hardest working people I know, they are honest, reasonably priced, and will give you plenty of options for whatever your plumbing situation is! I couldn't recommend him enough!

I was referred to Rick Ramsey by my Realtor. After numerous messages, texts and emails he called me and said he was very busy and would call in the next few days, that never happened. A month later my Realtor contacted him and was promised that I would get a call in the next few days. Its been over three weeks and no contact. I am glad that I found out ahead of time that Rick Ramsey is not a man of integrity and lacks professionalism.
