They did a great job fixing our old claw foot tub/shower. They charged us half the price that LBA quoted us. They are going to be our go to plumber here on out!

Absolutely outstanding. I had a semi-complex sewer line issue - the pipe had collapsed just over a neighbor's fence. A-1 sent a very professional crew with 20+ years experience and was able to replace the damaged portion in about two and a half hours - without having to disturb the neighbor's lawn. That was a home run for me! The price was fair, the service professional, and availability was great. I was very satisfied and I think you will be too.

Michael was awesome at clearing a very difficult clog we had worked on for several days and were only able to move further down the system causing more problems. He was extremely polite and shared his knowledge with us about future considerations regarding the sewage system.
GREAT JOB!!!
Fair prices!
Super quick response!

THANKS!!!

I have used this company in the past without an issue, however on Jan. 17 2022  I had a very inexperienced  service person come to clear a drain. three hours and a mess later I had to ask him to go . The next day I spoke to a supervisor Don that said would contact dispatch and get back. well never got back to me,  I called him three times that went to voice mail with no return call. Finally an experienced service person came and fixed problem and mess in 45 mins.... I didn't appreciate the lack of customer service from this company....

They cleaned my main drain line last month and they did a great job! Gene, my technician was nice and informative. After dealing with two previous plumbing companies that came out and didn't do anything it was nice to work with a company that listened and got the job done.
Thumbs up!

Honestly, I wish I could write a better review but being argued with and scammed outweighs the good unfortunately. We have used this company multiple times with success but will not use them again. They do not guarantee their work, even a few days after it's done. The technicians are hard working and polite. Make sure you get all info though before hiring or you'll be paying multiple times for them to fixthe same problem.

Email exchange through the. To get my septic cleaned out. They did warn me that if my cleanout was just to the sewer lines then it would be a $125 charge. Well it wasn't to my sewer line it was the op wing to my septic which was too small. But then he literally did nothing. He tried to use his poker to see how far down my septic was but literally did nothing. I called Digger Jim her was out the next day fixed the size of the cleanout and did the cleanout of my tank all for less than the ridiculous price this place was quoting. DO NOT USE!

We've used A-1 on a couple of occasions, but our last 2 experiences have been TERRIBLE! We had to have our drain snaked late one evening and the on-call tech actually asked to use our bathroom and DID HIS BUSINESS before the drain was snaked and the toilet could be flushed! I actually had to flush it myself after he left!!! We had another tech come a few months later. My husband usually handles these things, so when I asked for an explanation, he became very condescendiing. He said, People don't go to your basement to take a dump, do they? Not all of A-1's techs have been so unprofessional, but at risk of having similar experiences again, we'll definitely no be using them again.

I've used A-1 several times now and each time is just as wonderful as the last. They have always been able to come out same day with no extra charge.  Even once it was evening hours.  The tech's are always kind, thorough, and explain things well.  I don't see myself ever calling a different company.

After calling numerous plumbers for two days, A1 immediately dispatched Chuck to fix our clogged drain. He was both professional and personable. When he ran into a small problem, he immediately knew what to do and got us back working again. The price was especially reasonable with the website coupon. Will certainly call again.

I have used A-1 plumbing for years, for my rental homes and my primary home. They provide the most excellent service every time without fail. They have always came out the same day I call, even when a disaster hits the city. Their technicians are top rate, always very friendly and courteous and I can tell they love their jobs. The prices are more than reasonable. I can't imagine using anybody else. Thank you A1 for bailing me out again!

We discovered a blocked drain in our basement on, of course, a Saturday.  We called our regular plumber who explained that he did not have the equipment to clear the blockage.  He recommended A-1.  Cody arrived within 30 minutes of our call, soon found that the problem was tree roots, remedied the problem and was gone in about 30 minutes!  We found the charge reasonable; the technician was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable.  We were extremely pleased with the service and would not hesitate to recommend A-1.

So the plan for the day was to watch the afternoon Chief's game and then immediately leave for a week's vacation.  Just as the game started, I went into the basement to pull some food from the freezer and discovered the basement was flooding with sewage.   So we made our second ever call to A-1 on a Sunday during the Chief's game.   Before the 3rd quarter ended, the technician, Ricardo showed up (different tech from last time but just as professional as the first) and I was able to give him the final score as he wrote out the invoice in his truck.  (And a very reasonable price for weekend service.)  Left for vacation on time.   Extremely happy with A-1 AGAIN!

They came out, our system was backed up due to my mother had used wipes. The guy did not appear sharp minded and spent hours and was getting agitated.  Then he said every time I pull a toilet that's $100
So our bill was over $700!  The round yellow stopper he used was improperly installed and was leaking water so another guy returned to fix it and afterwards our tub and basin still went down slow but I never knew who this company was since I lost the bill.  I called bank today to see if I used my card to pay and just now found this co months later. Called but the co. Said they will charge us as if they never been out.  I do not recommend this type service plus price is high and still didn't fix the issue after charging us over $700!    Charging $100 to pull each toilet is robbery and I hate I hired them. Don't be fooled by the slap happy reviews ,  plus the female seemed rude when I was trying to tell her my issue just now. Never again !  When I was shocked of price guy said I got family to feed or something like that. Horrible costly mistake choosing them.

SHORT VERSION:

Pros:
- Front office and plumbers were polite and helpful
- they kept at it until it was resolved

Cons:
- Took them three trips to provide what should have been provided  the first time.
- EXTREME defensiveness that  is threatening the sale of a house and harming two people as a result. (WILL cost seller at least $100 unnecessarily, and could cost a couple thousand!)
- High prices
- Finally got mostly resolved, but was an ordeal.

I have changed my rating to a 2 star because A-1 was thoughtful enough to refund the $175. I do appreciate it when a company does show compassion in some ways.
-----------------------------------

If I could make A-1 Sewer & Septic less than a 1 rating, I would. I mean they were the worst.

I had a septic tank clog or something wrong, and after a regular line check thru my insurance, I was given the recommendation to call A-1.

They first told me that I would need to have a person come out to scope the area to find the tank's lid. Cost $175 so I felt I had no choice. Then when A-1 did that, they figured that my yard was too rocky so I would need to have a machine come out and dig it up for $1,500!!! Then when it was pumped, $400 for the first 1,000 pounds and (I don't remember how much for every 100 after that)! And before I could even catch my breath, the person on the other end of the phone, (I won't share her name) was trying to force me into purchasing a riser for my tank (another $400-$500 cost!).

I had a bad night trying to figure out what to do while not being able to flush the toilet or clean our clothes or anything.

Next morning, I had decided to see if I could find someone else, and if not, just have to agree to these outrageous prices. I left calls everywhere starting at 8 am waiting for someone to help me, and hopefully, could help me that day!

I got a call back but they couldn't help until the next day, and I would have to find someone to do the digging. But, hey! I had the flag where I spent my $175, and a couple of church buddies said they would help.

Then I got a call from Honey-Wagon, and I told them how much emergency it was. They came out, found the septic tank at least SIX FEET from where the A-1 said it was (I want my money back!). They did the digging and pumping and helped me with some more information, all or MUCH MUCH less than A-1 was charging just for a machine to come and ruin my yard!

A-1 is all about the money, no friendly manner on the phone (rather rude), and pushy. They didn't care about my problem at all. Reading other reviews, I can see some people ended up with a $4,200 bill by the time they got thru. I am sure I would have been over $2,500!

This is not a promotion for Honey-Wagon exactly, but I am sure there are others who are as reasonable. Look around and compare rather than settle for A-1's outrageous prices!

I've used A-1 a few times now, most recently this weekend. The price is fair (cheap even) and the technicians have always been friendly and professional. Chuck was very courteous and helpful this last time out. Sometimes the phone girls seem annoyed but who knows how many calls they get at all hours of people in a panic! Bottom line is, my main line got cleared in a timely manner so I always call A-1 first.

I have dealt with A1 several times this past year due to a toilet that keeps flooding.  The first time they came out, the tech looked at my toilet, said, There's nothing wrong with it, and left.  It overflowed again the next day.  A different tech came out this time, snaked it and said it was fine.  He told me my kids were probably just taking really big dumps.  Fast forward a month and a half.  The same toilet backs up again, and this time water starts seeping up through the carpet in an adjoining room.  I call again, and this time the tech says there is nothing wrong with the toilet, but we should call a foundation specialist.  Again today, the same toilet overflows and water again seeps up through the carpet in the next room.  A1 comes out and the tech bumps into a moving box and drops the F bomb in front of my 4 kids.  Then he mistakenly walks into the storage room and says, There's no toilet in here.  (No shit, Sherlock.  You're in the wrong room!).  He makes his way to the correct room and we realize the door was accidentally locked from the inside.  No problem, I'll go get the key.  The tech gets angry, says, We don't do locked doors!  He then storms out of my house.  Between poor attitudes and lack of skill, I have not had a single positive experience with A1.  I will find someone else to resolve my toilet issue.

Extremely dissatisfying service from Gary Peterson. I wanted to have someone come and check the sewer and clean it up and also find a possible reason for the blockage. I called A1 services and they sent Peterson to me for the service saying they charge $100+. The base charge is 100 and if there is more problems found they would charge me more, understood. Peterson, In the beginning was very polite and friendly and was talking about what and all he is going to do to diagnose the problem and quoted me for $225.l told him that I'm not planning to spend that much so just go ahead and clean the sewer for $100 which is the price that was promised to me. The moment I told him that, his attitude was completely changed. At the end, he not only charged the 100 for service but also $30 as a trip charge? Seriously? I heard people charge diagnostics when you don't get the service done by them but not a service charge + a trip charge. I got it done a year ago for 69.99 through some other person who came with even more fancier equipment than what Gary came with. Too bad, just because he acted like that he lost me as a customer. Some people just don't get a simple math behind making a good customer relationship especially when there are 100s of them out there like him. I will never ever recommend him to anyone.

F***ing horrible.  I am furious right now.  Do everything you possibly can to avoid these thieves.

A-1 quoted me $175 to clear our my main drain line.  AFTER doing the $175 worth of work they come up to me to let me know that my drain line is more than 100', so it's actually going to be $525.

I mean, at that point you don't really have a choice do you?  If they tell you that up-front you might shop around for a better rate, but when you get a quote like $175 you figure it's probably not worth the time to shop around.

But once you've already spent $175, it's only going to be another $350.  I mean, they are tripling the quoted price, but now that you've sunk the $175 into it you probably aren't going to find someone else to come and do the whole thing for less than $350.  Some second plumber isn't going to give you a discount for the work of the first plumber.

So you're stuck paying another $350.

Well guess what?  About 5 minutes ago they come to my door to tell me that the extra $350 wasn't enough and now they are going to need more time and are going to charge me another $350 an hour.

So now they are going to charge me 5 times their initial quote.

And what am I supposed to do or say at this point?  They still haven't fixed the clog so I either just light the money I've paid so far on fire or I hope that this is the last time they are going to f*** me.

On top of all of that bulls***, they have told me two things that really piss me off.

- When they first told me the line was more than100 feet they said that they found out by looking in their old notes.
- After telling me that it might be *even more* than 200 feet and they need even more time at $350/hr, the guy tells me he is going to call his supervisor so they can look up the total length of my line.

What those two pieces of information tell me is that they could have easily figured out my plumbing line was more than 100 ft from the very beginning and given an accurate quote.  But they didn't.

They gave me a quote that is (currently) 20% of what I'm actually paying.  Can you even call it a quote if it's that far off?  Why not just make up a random number?

They could have done a little extra work and given me accurate information that I could have used and shopped around.  Instead they gave me a meaningless number and are slowly adding to it.

We'll see if this is the end or if they just keep adding but for the love of God, do NOT use A-1.  Go with an independent plumber or someone who won't f*** you.

Called them at 8:00 am about a leak in my garage ceiling.  Was told i was scheduled for that day and someone would call me 30 minutes before arrival.  Took off work so I could be home waiting for a call that never came.  I did call them 3 times to verify they would still be coming but was lied to each time.  At 6:00 pm they finally said no one would be out.  Total waste of my time.  Bad weather tomorrow so they said they couldn't even guarantee anyone would be out tomorrow.   I'll be finding a more honest and reputable company and I suggest you do the same.  I wish I had read the reviews about this company before calling them.  It seems from what I read that that this is becoming a more common occurrence.  Companies like this should be held accountable for their actions.  They have no problem charging $75 just for the honor of showing up (if they feel like it),  but they really don't care how much of your time and money they waste.  Pay attention to the bad reviews on this one!

Our rental property had a gray water system with a leach line that quit accepting water. My renters, with six children, weren't able to use their kitchen sink or washing machine. I considered that a fairly urgent matter but didn't feel like people at A-1 acknowledged that based on the delays. My first issue with A-1 was with the first scheduler. She told me A-1 would be at our rental property the next day within a two-hour period. I waited at the rental for the two hours with nobody showing up and my time running out, so I called again. The next scheduler seemed confused why I was asking what happened to my tech. She told me they didn't give windows of time and that my tech was not on his way. Due to that perplexing miscommunication and other scheduling commitments, I had to reschedule the tech for the next day.  The next morning, I got a call telling me the tech didn't work on that day. So, on the third day, we finally connected. The tech told me to expect the quote within 24 hours. By 48 hours, I finally got the quote only after I sent a reminder. I accepted the offer swiftly, but was told the work couldn't be done for another 2-3 weeks. Our very gracious renters told me they could limp by while doing dishes in the bathtub and laundry at the mat, so we paid half the price of the quote ($1900) and waited. A day before the scheduled work, A-1 called to once again postpone, this time due to a piece of digging equipment being down. I was also informed by them that some of the work would be done by another department and there would be a separate digging fee, probably another few hundred, that was not included in the quote. At that time I was a few days out from the work being done and $1900 in, so I felt like I had no choice but to wait and to pay the extra. On the day of the repair, I showed up to pay the extra, which ended up being for the pumping of our septic tank (where they were running all the plumbing lines into) and more like $900. The workers seemed knowledgeable and were so nice, and I can't fault them for the issues I have had with others. A week or so later, we realized A-1 had taken the full $3800 after completion of the work instead of the $1900 half we owed. We called and were told it would be fixed the next day, a Saturday. We waited several days into the next week, thinking the bank transaction would take a few business days. Then we waited a few more days, but nothing was reimbursed. So we had to call again to get someone to refund that extra money. In all the craziness I am still not sure if we ever paid for digging. I just hope we are done with them and the work is as good as it seems to be.

Arrived on a Sunday within a few hours of being called.   They showed up right on time and were very polite.   There was no extra charge for weekend,  and were less than half the price of another quote i got for the same work.   Provided a quote over the phone (unlike several other companies) and stuck to it.   He got to work very quickly and had it fixed in under an hour.  I would highly recommend using A1 for any work you need done.

Steer clear. They came out 3 different times to attempt to clear the same clog. No luck even with their magical scope. Total charge around $800. We had to have a different person come out to actually assess and fix the problem. This company is terrible.

I called A-1 Sewer out to do a camera inspection on my main sewer line and give me a second opinion regarding replacement.

Aaron came out and found that my line was still clogged and wasn't properly cleared by the last plumber (Bob Hamilton).  They were also able to provide me a hard copy of the DVD for the camera inspection.  (youtube.com/watch?v=HEtZ…)

A-1 recommended doing a proper cleaning with a 3 blade and were able to get me scheduled the next day to have this done.

Mike cake out to run the line and and didn't find any issues.  He also gave me some advice regarding maintenance vs replacement.

I'm glad I called these out and only wish I had called them first.

Although it took a week to respond (Office manager was on vacation), they responded to my complaint.  It impressed me that they followed up on the issue.  After a discussion about what happened and what should've happened, we came to an agreement on a remedy.  If it weren't for the shower issue, I'd give them four stars for faucet replacement (the leak is still there and they left black marks on the drywall and shower stall).  It's just nice to work with a business that wants to finalize the issues before moving on.  So I appreciate that.  I will give them another opportunity to do work in my house as two of the three projects were done well.

We have been a loyal customer if A-1 for 10+ years until now...when a problem was evaluated incorrectly by one of their plumbers. A-1 would not stand by their work or waive a service visit fee to come back & reevaluate the problem that they missed the first time.  Seek another plumbing professional if you want accurate & honest work. It's too bad they are willing to lose a 10+ year customer off a $70 fee.

First, I want to thank A-1 for restoring my faith that there is still such a thing called Customer Service! My needs were not only listened to, they were met by having a tech out at my house within the hour. Justin, the tech who showed up before expected (I'll add), had a smile on his face ready to get to work. Justin was very informative, personable, and had the job done in less than an hour. Huge Thank You, to the girls who worked to get a tech out to my house faster than expected... Justin, the tech who showed up in good spirits ready to work... and of course my bill being affordable!!!!  I highly recommend this company!!!! Customer Service at its Best!!!!!!!!!!!

I was told that their service call fee is $70 but that the amount can be applied towards any work that needs to be done. After the plumber, Charles, looked at my toilet, he said the service call would be $132 because he actually had to do work. I would be charged $15 for a wax ring (these are $3 at Ace), a $90 fee to set the toilet, plus labor. This was all in addition to the $132 service fee. I can't remember the exact total but it was over $300. That's a lot to reset a toilet, but the reason for this negative review is that they changed the service call fee after he realized he would need to do some actual work. It's an ingenious business plan, to set a low service call fee to get into people's houses and then change the amount once there.

I called A1 to fix a back up with my main drain. They came out quickly and it felt like it was going to be a good experience. They said they fixed it, I paid more than I have in the past, but for the weekend it seemed fair. Well less than 2 hours later I did a load of laundry and my drain was backing up into my basement once again. I went to my garage and the plug for the main drain was down 3 ft into the drain, unable for me to get, and my drain open for whatever debris to fly into. I was extremely frustrated but I re grouped called A1 back for them to redeem themselves. The woman who answered the phone was short and rude, I was trying to be forgiving and just ask if they could send someone back today to look at it again and retrieve the drain plug. She said we will see. I waited 90 minutes and called them back again, she was even ruder and said it may not be today. So now I have a back up in my basement and no drain plug. Still waiting because I don't want to start over paying with a new plumber, but if it goes on longer I will go back to my old faithful plumber.

I've been using A-1 Sewer & Septic for several years now, and I now know why we will never go elsewhere.  They offer consistent SUPERIOR workmanship, and fast & friendly service, at reasonable prices.

Our septic issue was severe & causing serious problems inside our home.  We had a technician to our house within a few hours on a Sunday (thanks to Cathy!!) .  AND A BIG THANKS TO LANCE!!  He not only diagnosed the problem, but set up for additional service the next day, and then followed up to make sure our issue was resolved completely.

If you want service and technicians you can trust...  call A-1.  I know I will!

I've worked with 3 different plumbing services during the time that I have been in my home, and A-1 has been far and away the best so far. The technician, Tim, that I worked with was excellent -- extremely knowledgeable and very efficient in his work. I had an issue with my main drainage line and was unable to use my toilets or sink. Another company, after reviewing the problem, suggested that I would need to have a cleanout line installed in my front yard for several thousand dollars. I brought in A-1 for a second opinion and their technician, Tim, was able to address to issue by accessing the line through my basement. Not only was this far cheaper, it was much faster fix, which was essential because it occurred during a time when Coronavirus forces me to be home for most of the day. While it may be possible that a more expensive fix is necessary eventually, A-1 was able to offer me the ability to explore a FAR cheaper solution with no additional long term risk. On top of all this, the technician was out at our house within an hour of the time that I placed the phone call. I can't recommend this company strongly enough.

I've never needed plumbing services before and wasn't sure who to call... However, when the main line to my septic became clogged and the bathroom crap was backing up into my basement we tried to unclog the line ourselves before giving in and calling A-1! Thomas or Tom from A-1 was at my house in 45 minutes on a Saturday at no extra charge and had things back in working order in about 30 minutes!? He was was professional and friendly! We'll definitely be having our septic cleaned soon and wouldn't call anybody else.

We had a plumber from one of the large HVAC companies come out on a recent Saturday to clear a sink drain. He couldn't do it--didn't have the right snake with him. He offered to come back Monday with a supervisor but I told him we had to get it done that day. He was the one who recommended A-1. We called and they came out within a couple of hours. Got the drain cleared and made arrangements to come out a few days later to install a trap so next time will be easier. Thanks to the big HVAC company for recommending this place! They made a great first impression with me and will be my first call next time.

A main line was clogged so I agreed to the astronomical 195/hr rate. Technician told me the line was cleared and it wouldn't happen again and quickly gave me a quote for a different $500 job. 2 days later the main line clogged again and our house smells like a sewage plant. A quick call reveals another visit will now cost $229/hr. No discount for not even attempting to fix the problem the first time.

Atomic charges $59 to diagnose many other (Tony and Son's) reputable companies charge nothing. Don't get stuck in thier profit building scheme.

Plumber was rude, made comments about my husband behind his back.  Had to have the guy come out three times, and on the third time he refused to correct the changes in the pipes he had made (he pulled the extension pipe out too far so that the vanity drawer would no longer close) I got an earful more about how  he was not my errand boy and how I was speculating that he moved the pipe. Called his supervisor, supervisor said he would come out himself to correct.  I was thinking finally someone who cares about customer service.  Was I wrong.  He came out with a bad attitude and rude remarks, and took a long time to just move a pipe into the wall.  All this drama to just tighten some fittings?  Will NEVER call again, NEVER!!! I have never been treated with such disrespect.  Not professional at all.

Great service and quick response to my request! The price was fair and the staff was knowledgeable and professional. I would definitely recommend them if you need them!

I have had great service with A-1, plumbers who came out to my house were friendly and followed the covid guidelines, they cleaned up after their work and priced competitively. I will look no further than this company next time I need plumbing service again.

We used to really like this company, however the last experience will have us searching for a better one. I called to get a plumber to come out to clear three drains on the top floor. Was told it would be $175. Guy came out and was nice enough, but cleared one drain and said the other two were connected and would be fine. Then one of the other two drains wasn't draining well, so called to take advantage of their 30 day guarantee.

They came out and fixed that drain and said he should charge me another $175, because it was $175 per drain, and that hadn't been cleared before, so no guarantee. He charged me $95 and said he would get in trouble for doing it, but that was all he could do. I wouldn't have had him do anything if he told me ahead of time he was going to charge me.

In search of another plumber....

We had a great experience with this company over the weekend. We had a backed up drain, they couldn't get to us same day but scheduled an appointment for the next day. They ended up having a cancellation and got us in same day. The tech was great! Not only did he fix the issue but was very helpful in how to avoid the same issue happening again. The call center service was also outstanding!
