Jason did an awesome job clearing our main line with a hydrojet and discussing future options.  Smartest plumber I've ever met, & takes pride in his work - five stars.

I took one star off the business, because there's no opportunity to discuss the job in advance with someone who knows plumbing.  That aspect of customer service could be improved.

Mr Rooter and Roto Rooter same Company, they said they were different companies. They charge a service fee for coming out but is not deducted if they do the job. They told me my sewer line was disconnected at the city main which would cost around 10,000$ to repair. Found out my sewer is not disconnected. Don't trust this company. Detroit Michigan

Plumber 's name John 71. Needed sewer line clogged and was given a flat rate which was good. However, the plumber said that he needed to charge an extra $106 to cut off
a rusted drain cap because that was the only way to remove it. However, my brother took it off himself in 2 minutes! Then the plumber said that another floor drain was clogged and that he needed to snake it out for an additional drain fee of more than $300! My brother lived the cap off and the water quickly drained away!!! If my brother was not present, I would have been charged another more than $300 unnecessarily! Senior citizens should beware! I have no faith and confidence in John 71!

**BEWARE **     ** BEWARE. ** Do yourself a favor, stay away from this predatory company. Don't waste your time, money and energy. read through those 1 star reviews in the past. They already told you their bloody lessons.

They ripped me off $13k six months ago just for drain line replacement for my small rental. Rental work is more time sensitive, with tenants keep pushing, I didn't get a chance to get another quote, but I knew I got ripped off. It's 1 year warranty, so I asked them to come again (that I REALLY REGRET), when the plumbing issue come again. Again when that technician come, he told me that $13k last time was for indoor only, and my outdoor EVERYTHING IS WRONG AS WELL. I read through those 1 star reviews, and found these 2 comments below left 4 months ago are exactly what they did to me. The only difference is the $5,800 increased to $6,500, and $1,300 increased to $1,600. They finally charged me $375!! for drain snaking. (that other plumbers only charge $150, and was able to get things done, instead of telling you EVERYTHING IS WRONG and trying to rip you off.) Do yourself a favor, try other local plumbing companies. Don't waste your time, money and energy.

Reviewer 1: I wanted a sewer camera inspection in one of the old neighborhoods of Detroit. Mr. Rooter was on time, only to tell me that he wouldn't be able to perform the camera inspection because the fiber optics wouldn't be able to bend around the drain P-trap (called a house trap?) the house has. The only option would be for Mr. Rooter to install an exterior clean-out access to my sewer line for $5800 and *then* send the camera through that. I said I'd think about it and still got charged $71.17 for the information that Mr. Rooter wasn't able to perform the service I had asked for when I booked the appointment. The technician declared that he wasn't an ordinary drain guy, but a licensed expert with 20 years of experience. Well, if his knowledge of plumbing technology is equally old, we might have identified the problem: Another provider, Waterwork, was able to send a camera down and help me diagnose the sewer issue with ease.

Reveiwer 2: I called for a drain cleanout. They showed up and in 2 mins the worker said everything was wrong and he cut the pipes i wanted cleaned out and never did snake any of the pipes in which i hired them for. So instead of a 99 dollar clean out they cut the pipes didnt snake anything out then charged me almost 1300 dollars for a 99 dollar clean out. This company ripped me off and there management backed them. If you do business with this company watch out or you could be ripped off just like me. The job should not have cost more than the 99 dollars job they were suppose to do. Customer beware.

The call center has no idea what the drivers charge for common services.  They just defer to the on-site visit, be prepared for a shocking price for a simple drain cleaning/clearing. Less than 10 minutes to clear line/drain. I won't be calling this company again for service.

We were so happy with the service we received today from tech Jimmy. He went above and Beyond. Our outside clean out was located under my husband's wheelchair ramp. Jimmy took it upon himself to remove the ramp with his drill. Did the clean out with Hydro jet got us in good shape and put the ramp back together. We were so pleased with the service. Jimmy needs a raise.

Mr Rooter is a wonderful company to work with!!  They were professional from the representatives on the phone to the technicians.  The visit was initially set up for a jet service and technician Jason A. determined that only a snake service was required.  Jason was very knowledgeable, friendly, honest, and neat. We are so glad we reached out to Mr. Rooter because they were prompt, reliable, professional, upfront with all costs of services and they did not perform any services that were not needed.   Thank you for your service!!! HORRIBLE!!!!!!! Price gauging!!! Plumber came out because my hot water tank was leaking & I needed a new one, he quoted me $2450 I agreed because I've never had this happen to me..had a friend come over so I can go to work and when I got to work & told my coworkers the story & price they said STOP THE WORK IMMEDIATELY!!!! I told my friend to cancel the job and the plumber was upset because he didn't get to gauge me like he planned, he then asked for $300  ????  I called the office and they told me the service charge was $50 & when I asked about the $2450 price they said each plumber decides the price points, sooooo when the plumber was asked he said the company sets the price & he was charging $300 because he drained whatever water was left in the tank, 2 minutes of work, well he was given $100 and was told to leave!! Mr Rooter should be ashamed of themselves!! They will be reported to the Pandemic Gauging website!!!  Its funny cause their reviews on their website are 5 stars but not on yelp, google or facebook, obviously fake reviews!!!!!!!

Had someone from there company come out and check a blocked sewer line. He said no problem we can fix it it 2 days. 2 days go by. I wait all day i call 3 hours after he said he would show up. They told me he had a huge job and they wernt sure when he would be done. I was a bit confused because the plumber told me he would be here by 1 at the latest. So 6:30 comes around and i finally get a call. Hey we can be at your house in the next 45 minutes. I tell him no its not alright, get me tomorrow morning first thing. They said no can due hes already booked. Well i said do you know when he would be showing up? They said no and thats when i said im going with someone else. This is rediculous. I understand all the 1 star reviews now. There not fake oh and the price they quoted to clear the main line 1957.43. In case you wernt sure on the whole Over charges thing. There not lying.

Will say I don't blame the company I blame the driver. I was sitting in my vehicle when he arrived with tinted windows. He couldn't see me but I saw him. He tapped on the door, not knock and immediately turned to walk away. Wife answered door told him to go to side to avoid dogs He went in basement for all of 2 seconds and said it would be $324. And had to remove water and some boxes near drain before he could come back and do job, that had been waiting 5 days for the present appointment. I did nothing he said called another plumber and they did the job no problem for a fraction of the cost. One bad plumber has made me never want to use Mr.Rooter again after being only company to ever service my home since I've lived here.

I want to provide an update to my prior review. After speaking to Mario, who was extremely  apologetic,  responsive and professional... I would say that this was simply a misunderstanding.  Humans are all subject to human failings and I believe there was no I'll intent. I can't vouch for the actual work since my parents elected to wait to have it done.. but when they decide to proceed, I would be comfortable doing business with Mr. Rooter. Mistakes happen, but how they are handled says a lot about character.

Awful experience!  Called at 7:40 to place a service request for frozen pipes. As I have Mechanical knowledge and live in a condo the 1st question I asked was do you have an electric pipe thaw device the friendly lady said Yes
Explained I was in a condo and that was required
Told me I'd have a morning appointment
At 11:50 I called for a status and was told between 11&3:00.  At 5:15 the tech showed up and without the electric heater!   Wasted a day off for no reason and they wouldn't send the person with the machine out!  I asked if they could be here at 7;00 and was told between 8&11:00 is the best they could do .  Already missed a day and no faith I'd see someone before noon
Terrible company - NEVER CALL OR TRUST THEM!

We called on Wednesday early afternoon and they had a tech (Jimmy Thomas) out 2 hours later.  He looked at the situation and advised that it wasn't the pipe, but the leaking from an outdoor gutter.   He was very professional, courteous and just a damn nice guy.  They will be my go to in the future.

Had mr rooter repair main drain line under foundation of house on main line going out to street after they completed the job every time it rained water came into the basement like a running hose. Contacted them and they were very rude but scheduled many appointments to repair it but never showed up. They finally quit responding to our calls this forced us to make the repairs at our expense to protect the property. They took our money and we never got any compensation for the damages they caused. I will never use them again. Very unprofessional and rude.

It's an hour outside the window when someone was supposed to be here. Not even a phone call. Untrustworthy. I will call someone who can keep an appointment, or at least call and explain that they can't.

Update: Finally called 3 hours after the window they gave me. Why bother? If you're going to be late, make the call when I'm sitting at home waiting. . .

On 3/24/21 we called Mr Rooter to install a new water heater. My husband had already put the water heater in the basement 2-3 feet from the old one. We were given a price of $1,100. My husband informed the technician that his services were not needed. My husband installed the water heater. THIS COMPANY OVER CHARGES.

I called Mr. ROOTER based on a recommendation.  I called 6 shops and they were the only plumbing company to call me back and I was able to schedule an appointment for the same day for a drain emergency.  The two plumbers that showed up were friendly, up front with their costs, and very neat. The work seemed good, so I  highly recommend them.

Called Mr Rooter to clear a clogged discharge line. The technician was very nice, but he misdiagnosed the problem (a pipe hanger had pulled loose, allow a pipe to sag). Instead of hanging the pipe and snaking the clog, he quoted over $400 to repair the pipe. He then left me with no working plumbing and bathtubs full of sewage.

I requested a call back from the technician to address this and never received one. I called corporate and was told a supervisor would call me back. I eventually called a local plumber (City Sewer in Saginaw). They responded promptly and fixed the problem.

DO NOT USE MR ROOTER!

I called a few days ago because I needed a drain snaked. They would not give me any pricing info at all. When they got here they said there would be a 40 something service fee call just for coming out. One told me $171.00 and the other one said no $271.00. I told them no and that I was not paying them anything. they said I owed the service call fee and I said I owe them nothing because I was never told about it. If you use them be careful. It seems to me that maybe they just handle calls and schedule plumbers that se4t their own rates. If that the case it seems to me that one of them looked at me and said we can get 175 out of this guy and opened his mouth while the other guy looked at me and decided they could get more out of me and upped the price. If you use them, and this applies to all purchases, get it in writing.

I would have never even looked on yelp, but I couldn't resist after I had someone come out and unclog my salon business break room drain.
Unfortunately I did not call them, it was my business partner. And I do not think she asked for a quote or estimate.  But They have this book with code #, and every thing the guy did, added the amount.
When he was done, the bill was over $600.00.
I will try to be as clear as possible what the fees were for.  Starting with the need to replace the PVC trap, and part of the drain line to the wall.  I googled the $4.00 , and replace the sink drain, I googled at $12 and change.  So I could have purchased the parts for Maybe $20.00 give or take a few.  In his book of code numbers, just the Sink trap price was $389.00
I have reviewed all of their yelp reviews on here. I only wish i had come here sooner.  I will not be using them again.  $609.00 literally down the drain.
I called the offices, and they made the guy come back in and show me the book for pricing.  Which confirmed they are ripping people off by the book.  Mr rooter, your reviews show what a rip off you are.  My story is basically the same as the rest here, unfortunately.   Terry

Previously hired this company for plumbing work. This time was to replace a garbage disposal. Prompt availability, had to ask to wait until the next day. Joe was on time & did the work efficiently. He gets 5 stars. I bought the part, no charge for a Service Call. That means the book price was 5 hours @ $80 an hour. Joe was here a little over an hour and I have a working disposal. Rates Are Outrageous. Ripoff.

Called Mr. Rooter for a basement/downstairs walkout sewer line replacement.  Mr. Rooter sent a plumber, Mr. E.A.  together with his accomplice, of whom I LATER (after the disaster) find out, that it was his FIRST TIME working on such a project.  First strike, I go with the large national brands for experience, not a complete newbie.

So, they do the job ok, I'll give them that.  Time to clean up and smooth out the cement.  He starts grinding.  We knew something was wrong, when we saw the giant, impenetrable fine dust cloud BILLOWING out up from the basement.  No precautions were set in place.  We discover, to our utter dismay, that every inch, every nook and cranny, every last object, piece of furniture, book, surface, everything, is COATED, with a ubiquitous, very fine, gray layer of powdery grime, as if a small Mount St. Helena had erupted all over our entire walk-out.  Some of this billowed upstairs, too. A nightmare.  We're breathing this stuff in too.  The plumber trivialized it as just a little dust.  Second strike out.

Finally, the third strike, the cherry on top of this disaster, E.A.'s boss refuses to clean this up.  They sent over a pair of Molly Maids, but all they succeeded in doing was move the grime around a bit.  The ladies said they had never seen anything like it.  We asked for a disaster cleanup team, Mr. Rooter refused.

The aftermath:  we ended up throwing away over half of our possessions downstairs.  E.A. felt we were overreacting.

All of this to the tune of over $9000.-  Never again!  My advice:  Just because it's a national brand, does NOT mean you are getting quality, or experience.  Ask the workers sent out, how many times they have done this specific job before.  STAY with them and watch their work.  Or better yet, go by word of mouth with your neighbors, instead of this national brand.  Terrible experience.

This was our 1st time hiring a plumber since being new home owners of 3 years and we were very skeptical as we are with all service related companies, but we ended up really impressed!  The Mr. Rooter associate (Roy) was very knowledgeable and within seconds knew what our problem was. We had sump-pump, drainage/stoppage issues in our basement storm drain system.  Roy provided us great advice and many options.  He thoroughly explained the 'what' & 'why' of it all and walked us through all the troubleshooting.  He wasn't pushy at all and quite candid. All issues were fixed and we are confident now to start new building projects in our basement. We will definitely call this company again for future services.  Thanks Roy!

When you are a supervisor; you supervise your people. Because when your people shine, you shine. But when you have an office supervisor who sits with the workers and cusses, smokes and complains about the owner, that's a reflection on her and how she makes the company look. I only worked here a few weekends and there is a lot to learn. I asked a few times for the supervisors direction but I never got it; as she had better things to do like cuss, smoke & complain. She did tell me that it'll take time to learn, but then calls me and leaves me a message informing me that I'm not a good fit for the company.  With only 2 weekends in and hardly no training, thats a reflection on you. A good supervisor will train her workers to be the best they can in a timely manner. And that supervisor would not cuss out the owners. I had no intention of staying on. I didn't fit in. I didn't belong with a bunch of unprofessional people.

Without a doubt NEVER using this company ever again. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Over charges by double. Our technician ROY literally held down our doorbell for over 10 minutes to wake us up on Christmas Eve to retrieve payment less than 24 hours after service. In what world does a service company come out to someone's house less than 24 hours later and hold the doorbell down for 10 minutes at 8 am. Stupid, rude, unprofessional - will be telling this story to everyone.

I usually do not leave reviews but this company is a mess! I made an appointment for clogged shower drain. Something simple, just snake the drain and unclog hair and soap. Appointment was for Saturday. They call me at 9pm and tell me they can't make it out. They make it out on Sunday and the guy says it will be $271. For a job that took 5 minutes. I asked prior to his arrival what their price range was and they were not able to provide me with one. I advised the call taker that I got a quote for $175 from another company. She advised me that they are usually cheaper than most but cannot give me an estimate. Pure scam, buyer beware. I will not ever do business with this company again and I will let anyone I come in contact with how this company is ran by scammers.

The five most horrible words you'll ever hear - your sewer pipe is broken.   sigh.  But we came to grips with it and called Mr Rooter for an estimate.  They were prompt - came out on a Sunday and used the camera to figure out where the break was.  Trouble is.. that's not where the break was.  Thank goodness we got a few more estimates - the third company we called was able to find the break and it was on the other side of the basement.    It was a good thing we hadn't let Mr Rooter start breaking up the concrete that same day.

Horrible customer service.  Called to set an appointment and told a tech would be put that day. That never happened. Tech showed up early afternoon the next day to say he didn't have the proper snake to snake a drain.  He actually gave the number of another company to call who could do the job better.  This tech also left a huge mess and refused to clean anything up.  I called and asked to speak with a manager to be told that there is nothing the company can do. What a joke. Save your money and call someone else, worst customer service and long waits for the tech who can't do a job!

Had a problem with roots in my sewer line, called Mr. Rooter to snake it out. Guy who showed up was very unprofessional, first thing he told me was oh you already took your toilet off, we would usually charge you $279 to do that He then proceeds to snake my line and quickly comes to the conclusion my drain has collapsed and said it would be about $7000 to dig it up. I told him it had not collapsed and just had roots coming back through, as I had another company try to scam me before for the same thing a year earlier. He told me he made too much money to screw people over and started laying down the snake oil. Noticed the deer heads on my wall and started talking about anti meateaters as if they were somehow relevant to my sewer problem, also fit his wifes pregnancy with their 5th child into his sales pitch, then went to call his boss so he could cut me the best deal which was such a steal at $5000! I maintained by belief that it was roots still and when I asked him to camera it, he told me the water was too dirty I was charged nearly $400 for the sales pitch and left with a sewer that was still clogged. I had a guy from another company come out and he made quick work of the roots in my sewer, no digging, no hydrojet just a guy with expertise who wasn't trying to scam me. I called Mr. Rooter to let them know what happened and how another company resolved the issue, and they told me my concerns would be passed to upper management and they that was all they were going to do because their guy came out and did the work

Very rude company from the inside out. Tim was my technician and he was rude from the moment he walked up to my house. I shrugged it off and let him do his job. But then, he got really disrespectful. I have shoes at my back door because we dont wear shoes in the house, mostly my sons different sport shoes and a pair of my boots because we had water in the basement so i had to wear boots when i go down there. As he was going out to get his camera, he started flinging the shoes in my kitchen and they landed every which way. I have blood clots in my lungs so it takes me a great deal of time and energy to do very simple tasks but if he needed more space, he should have asked me to move them and i would have. I called the supervisor and she didn't seem to care.  Now that im reading the reviews, i guess being rude is apart of their job description. If you need plumbing services, please go elsewhere!!! Tim is racist, rude and he doesnt think that tenants matter, only landlords because they are the ones paying.

I had a plumbing emergency on Labor Day weekend. My basement toilet and floor drain were overflowing! I understand people are busy and they won't be dropping everything to take care of my problem. However, they made me wait for 3 hours before they called at the last minute to say they weren't coming! It was very unprofessional to make a customer wait that long. It would have been better to say you were busy much earlier. The call service people were pleasant to speak to and offered next day service. The company advertises as a 24/7 business. I will not call them again. I did call Edwards plumbing and they came out at 9:00 pm!

My parents needed the drain snaked and are tight on cash. I saw the commercial for $99 on Fox 2 news for this deal and told me Mom. Bad Idea. Huge scam artist. The guy walks in the door and starts talking about additional fees. Funny, how when we booked the appointment they never mentioned this. Typical bait and switch, scam artist crap. Guy starts talking about replacing entire drain pipes in the basement etc. We got him to leave because he was talking crazy. Lucky that he did not charge us. Likely because we were pissed at his business tactics. Called a reputable Royal Plumber who has been around for years. They snaked the drain...it was a more complicated snaking if you will, but for an honest price. Stay away from this place.

Disappointed.  I made an appointment about a week ahead of time for 5:30pm in the evening as I do not get home until 5:00-5:15pm.  I also mentioned this while scheduling.  The day of my appointment I received a call around 3pm asking if I would be able to have the service person come early because they were in the area, I said that I could not because I was not home.  5:30 rolls around...nothing...6:00 rolls around...nothing....6:30 rolls around and I'm a little frustrated and call.  When I called they said, yeah, they are held up at another job since you were not able for them to come early, they took another job.  Newsflash - I thought I had a scheduled appointment??  Anyway, the receptionist was rude and I will not deal with a company that can't even have the respect to call and let me know they are running late.  There are too many of these types of companies out there to be giving bad service.  Will never go back or recommend.

Service:
The service technician arrived on time 15 minutes into the 4 hour window. He was friendly knowledgeable and got the job done. He did his best to keep the mess to a minimum and cleaned up as best he could when the job was done.

The company:
I called Mr. Rooter because I was having a problem with slow drains. I saw their commercial for a $99 drain cleaning so I called them. It turns out that the cleaning is $99 + $47 for a service call, but you must have an outside clean out meaning the clog is between the house and the street, the commercial does not mention a service call or clean out locations.

I have a ranch with a basement; the clog was inside the house. Their special did not apply to my situation. They could not give me an estimate or a ball park price over the phone because every job is different and the tech would have to come out to give me a quote. I should have hung up at that point. So the tech comes out and gives me a price of nearly $400.00 to bring the snake into the basement and run it through two easily accessible clean outs. I was going to send him away when I heard the price but the tech said that they would still charge a service fee for the call, extortion if you ask me.

I have since called two independent companies in the area to get pricing; they charge less than half to do the same work. Mr. Rooter uses misleading advertising and strong arm tactics to part you from your money. I would never call them again.

This company is top notch. The plumber was to my home faster than they had originally told me. He was very informative, and fixed my drain problem within an hour. He also offered a free home plumbing inspection, where I realized I had a few minor problems that should be fixed. He did not try and charge me for any extras after he gave me a price when he looked at the drain.

Two thumbs up!!

Theives! The plumber came to snake a drain. He showed me the price in the book to do the job. I said ok. I then produced a $50.00 coupon i had from their website. Which turns out isn't really a coupon. He said that if I used the coupon the he had to add $47 to the total then apply the $50 coupon. WHAT! Fine. He did get the drain fixed after a couple of hours. They get a star for that. When my husband called to complain about the coupon he was told that plumber had discounted the price and waive the service call fee which he never said anything to me about the original price WITH a service call. He showed me the price in the book. I would have thought the $50 was off of that price. In addition, my bathroom was trashed once he left. Removing the toilet can be messy but there was grease and debris all over the sink, walls, floor. I don't expect him to clean my bathroom but at least take some care when doing the work. As difficult as it is to find a decent plumber do not resort to Mr. Rooter. Just take the time to do it yourself if you can.

This is the WORST group of Customer Service idiots I have EVER seen. I called off an ad to have someone come out , the person who made the appointment (for the next day)said that they would call when they were on their way. I thought Great.
I missed their call by 9 minutes, I know because I looked at my phone. I called the number back and get some extremely rude woman who tells me since I missed the call they have to reschedule for tomorrow 'mid' morning!!!!!!! I said what? She said You were the last job of the day and we sent him on another call when you didn't answer. (I am the last call of the day but you sent him somewhere else? How does that work?) She goes on to tell me You have five minutes to call us back. Don't you have a cell phone? If you don't call us back we move on the next customer. I explain that that would have been GOOD INFORMATION TO HAVE BEFORE NOW. Seriously....she asked me if I had a cellphone...........
Unbelievable.  So I call the appointment line and the woman who answered the phone was even worse. She tells me they left me a message (how she would know that I don't know since I called back the missed call number on my phone-not her number). She rudely explains how the manager Mario isn't there, that they ALWAYS tell people they have to answer there phones and she said they told me that on the message they left me. I asked her if she wanted me to send her a screen shot of my phone showing no messages. She then hung up on me. The worst group of crabby phone answering individuals I have ever talked to. Don't ever use this company. They don't deserve your business.

Needed to have my septic line inspected and cleaned out. Called Mr. Rooter, scheduled arrival was next day between 8am and noon. I got a hang-up accidental call around 10:30. When I called it back they said the technician was running a little behind. I received another call around 3:00 saying he was about a half hour away. I reluctantly said yes, send him. He arrived and was friendly, however he couldn't do anything because his camera was broken and he didn't want to blindly start grinding. He listened to what I had to say about the problems I was having and bet his check that approximately 15 feet of line needed to be replaced and looked in his book for a price. He said it would be right around $950. I thought that sounded pretty reasonable but wanted the camera proof. He promised to be at my house the next day by 11:00am at the latest. Whatever..... The next day comes, I get a call and they say technician is coming blah blah they're on time. Different guys show up, they grind out some roots and run a camera down there. I was then told that replacing that section of line would be $3500. At that point I basically stopped listening. How can they be that far off in their estimates? Whatever the price is, I'm not using Mr Rooter. I have no reason to trust them and I'm disappointed that i paid $290 for a half hour of cabling. I feel ripped off and lied to. I'll never call them again and I'll likely replace the broken section of septic line myself for under $100.

had a  problem with the pvc drain pipe coming from my sump pump in the basement, it had a leak in the pipe that connected the pipe to the outside drain pipe, had 3 feet of pcv replaced as well as replaced the pcv pipe that connected to the ground drain, cost for the pcv piping was around $30 , it took about a total of 11/2 hours to two hours for the job, total cost CHARGED! $1,152, labor charge comes out to be over $1,100 , for  11/2 ta 2 hours work and thats with the military discount,  there was no digging our drilling our anything like that, job was done during the day on a tusday  so no late night our weekend hours our anything like that, unless you want to be way over charged and pay way to much STAY AWAY! there coupons and so called discounts are a trap to get you too call them!

My sewer line was plugged and backing up through a basement drain so I  called them for a water jetting and camera inspection. When Joe arrived he quoted $271.68 for both and I agreed but he said he had to run a snake through first to clear blockage for the camera. During snaking he said my sewer line was broken and that it would have to be replaced @ $4000.00 and that he could not continue snaking at the clean out trap, I told him to run the snake at the basement drain and he reluctantly did. That took care of the problem but I believe he didn't want to clear the line so that he could sell me a $4000.00 line replacement. Originally I wanted a water jetting (a more thorough cleaning than snaking) and camera inspection but since the line was clear he refused but applied a $50.00 coupon. $221.68 for a snake job?. At this point I just wanted him gone! Anyway I went and bought a sewer camera and checked the line myself and found no broken areas at all but did find a paper blockage with a small hole punched in it. My new camera has 50 foot of cable so I was able to check all the way to the street and was able to make the hole larger. I have since ordered a water jetting hose that attaches to a power washer (cloghog) and will do the jetting myself. Granted, I have paid close to $500.00 for all this equipment including the snaking bill but I plan on clearing my mothers slow sewer line and friends/neighbors lines if they have problems in the future. My main gripe with Mr. Rooter is the fact that they tried to sell me on a expensive and unnecessary repair and charged $220 for a $100.00 snake job. Lesson learned!
