I've used Jim Peterson Plumbing a few times. Each time he promptly answered my call and set up a mutually convenient time. He knows what he's talking about, brings the proper parts for repair and is quick and very efficient. His pricing is very fair. I highly recommend Jim Peterson Plumbing in Berkley.

I've been using Jim Peterson for the last 27 years and have always found him to be prompt, reliable and very reasonably priced.  No complaints.

I called last week to schedule service because I had one drain clogged, but I decided to have all the drains snaked out for maintenance.  They called me back the same day and scheduled an appointment for the next day, between 3-4 pm.  I left work early to get home just before 3:00.  No one ever showed up and no one called. I gave them until 4:30 and then called them and left a message asking for an update.  No one ever returned my call.  Terrible customer service.

Scheduled an appointment and company never showed up. After myself and wife called 30 minutes and then an hour after the scheduled arrival window, received a text saying called earlier a man said you didn't need us. I'll make sure not to need this company's number in the future, hope others do the same.

Jim Peterson Plumbing had a scheduled time and date to show up for plumbing repairs and was a no show on 9-20-22. I took off work and cleared my bathroom out for the repairs to be done (took 2 hours).  Called them to find out why they were a no show and no answer. Don't waste your time with this fly-by-night plumber.

I agree with Mighty M's post.  He came to my house and snaked the drain.  I had to call a real plumber with a more powerful snake and cameras a week later, who pulled massive roots from my drain.  I don't get why he didn't bring more powerful equipment.  I was very clear about the problem on the phone.  Very disappointed that I paid for nothing.

I've used Jim Peterson's plumbing for a number of projects around my house. Drain cleanouts, replacing a collapsed pipe, and a water heater replacement. I've always been very happy with the level of service they provide. In fact when I was getting my water heater replaced, the guy working on it brought all the connections up to code without charging for the labor. The willingness of the techs to explain what is going on and seek long term solutions is always welcome.

I set up an appointment with Jim Petersen Plumbing for between 9am and 3pm.  He never showed, never called, nothing.  I have left numerous messages, but he still has not called me back.  I am so disappointed, but I am finding many plumbing services with the same reliability.

I have an old fashioned bathroom sink that was leaking out of both facets.  The facets come out of the front of the sink, not the top.  I had two previous plumbers out.  The one from the top name told me that everything had to be torn out.  Quoted $1300.  The second plumber told me he would have to find new facets, after which the company stopped taking my calls.  Mark came out and fixed the problem and my toilet for $160.  Old happy day!!!

This is a guy is a complete joke.

He came to my house last week to 'snake' a floor drain in my basement.

He had a hand crank snake. The same shit you and I can buy at Home Depot. It looks like the fisher price 'my first plumbing kit'.

He pulled out maybe a few twigs. Maybe.

Two days later, my toilet backed up.

Called Levine and Sons. They came right out. With a HUGE snake kit. It had a camera on it and everything. It was like the NASA version. He pulled out basically a few a frickin tree from my drains.
It was AMAZING.

I tried calling Jim back to ask him wtf. He dodged my calls. It's been over a week, he still hasn't called me back.

The guy is a joke.

Levine and Sons and Jim Peterson charged the same price. And Jim didn't do shit with his weak ass snake.

Who would you call? Thank god for Levine and Sons!

I recently broke a pipe in my house and kind of panicked... then I remembered, there was a plumber just up the street. I called, left a message, and bright and early the next morning they gave me a call and gave me an estimate of how much it would cost to fix. They were very honest about the problems that they could run into and how that could increase the cost.

Two days later the plumber arrives to my house, first thing in the morning, right as scheduled. He is able to complete the repair in under an hour. He is great at explaining what he did and giving me options to fix other issues in the house. Total cost $95.

I will go to them again for sure!

Jim called me back quickly and was able to send a plumber out the same day to replace my kitchen faucet. The price was extremely reasonable and fair and 1/3 of the price quoted by others. I would use Jim and his team again for any of my plumbing needs.

I've been using Jim for plumbing issues at my rental house in Berkley for several years.  He's responsive, does great work, and his prices are fair.  Recently I called him about frozen pipes.  I gladly would have paid him to come out and take care of them, but he just walked me through how to take care of them myself.  Saved me time and money.

Jim installed a water line for a new refrigerator for me.  He is very fast, professional, and runs and best in class company.  I highly recommend using his company.

Peterson Plumbing is a excellent plumber. I hired him for my plumbing jobs and have never been disappointed with his workmanship.  Highly recommend him for any plumbing job.

Had some backing up in the pipes, first time out John the service man first of all said he couldnt stay long and had another appt soon, ran some water and said there was no back up.

Soon later, the basement started backing up again and Jim was called explaining the situation and we asked to have another service man come out to snake the drains which is what we asked for the first visit but clearly the service man had no time. The second visit went about the same...first thing service guy said was that he had another appt soon and couldnt stay long. Tried to talk us into not snaking anything but we insisted. He removed lots of tree roots from one drain to the street but did not have time to snake the rest of the house, can you guess what happened next?

More water in the basement from the basement drain backing up, soooooooo, after no laundry, dishwasher and taking showers at the gym we requested a third visit and a new service man. The same guy shows up, has us run some water and says we dont need anything else snaked. We were charged for each visit despite us asking for the entire job to be done the first time, ridiculous. This is a small community and its a shame a smaller, local company doesn't appreciate its customers or make them feel like each job is important as the next. Will be searching for a new plumbing company, very disappointed!

Prompt and polite service. Two men showed up in masks to snake our slow drain. Arrived within a half-hour of the call!

Called last minute this a.m. to replace kitchen faucet. Not only did John (21 yr employee) fit us in, but showed up on time, used all safety precautions, worked quickly, was reasonably priced and was both friendly and professional. Highly recommend A+++++

We have used them over the past 3 years for various plumbing needs.  Leaks, installs of sinks, redo of botched (old owner's work) bath fixtures.  I really appreciate that every time they come out they give me the options of fixing the problems (long term vs short term etc.).  One time the guy found and fixed an issue so fast that he offered to check on other things as you have to pay for at least 30 minutes.  I have always thought I got great value with them.  Also, I really feel out of pocket costs have been minimal.

Not good - Jim fixed a bathroom faucet for us a month ago and was paid on the spot.  A few weeks later the faucet is stripped and water is leaking out of it again.  I called and texted Jim repeatedly and he never returned our calls.  

You'd think this guy could at least give me a call to discuss. So unprofessional - stay away.

Had jim run an expansion cutter through my sewer line.  He was friendly, professional and knowledgeable.  He layed canvas down to protect my floors and did a great job cleaning up.  Highly recommend!

Had frozen pipes in the shower that were cut and capped off so that we could have water elsewhere.  After we learned insurance was not going to cover repair (AAA -- TERRIBLE) we were concerned who we should call we have done minor plumbing but we needed a pro to fix this, we were not sure how extensive damage was.  We might have been able to do it but wanted the confidence of warranted work etc.
Glenn Haggey site said to call local plumbing supply like Universal in Oak park ... did that and they gave me 2 names.

Jim Peterson was one of those names.  He is a master plumber.   I called and told him what we had and needed.  He asked a few questions and gave me a job price as long as they didn't find a broken riser (or whatever complication) Price was VERY fair -- set up for them to come.  He didn't go into time per hour and guess how long he just gave me a job price and I like that.  

Mark (11 yrs with the company) arrived and was confident that it was not broken anywhere else.  He was right, it was, for a plumber, a simple fix.

He asked if we wanted new shut off valves -- no charge for install just part costs. Which prob has a profit built in --  cost was what I would have paid at big box store and I would not have to do it.  He did not pressure to put them in just an offer and I know it is good to replace them, we did that on top of original quote.

Mark was pleasant and through, even whistled while he worked!  He took his time and did not rush -- didn't waste time either.  He was very knowlegeable and didn't mind chatting about plumbing stuff.
We asked him about some other plumbing items we might need done in the future -- no pressure just gave us some idea of what jobs would cost .... nice!  
I would call them again.

Work done: Inspect & replacement of shower valve (single handle delta) spout, shower head, copper lines ... all that that involves, replace old shut offs with new 1/4 turn: $428 accepted charge card, 1 yr warranty.

They came out to do some work and snaked out a basement drain. Ever since, every load of laundry or dishes causes water to back up with heavy dirt deposits. We called them and emailed them in the hopes that they would stand by their work but the problem is still unresolved. They replied to one email asking for an invoice number but nobody ever got back to us to fix the problem.

To give some scope, the work was done in late February and it's now the beginning of May with no resolution. I would absolutely avoid this company or pray that the job is done properly the first time.

Update. We got a call from the owner and he apologized and came out to fix it immediately. Upgraded review from one to three stars.

Jim Peterson Plumbing showed up fast to fix my drain emergency. Not only did they stop my leaking pipe, but offered inexpensive tips to prevent future problem. The job was done quickly and was reasonably priced. Thanks Jim !

I was recommended Jim Peterson from a friend and I am so glad I gave him a call.  He showed up promptly early in the morning and I told him where the problem was.  He gave his assessment and went to work.  He was so kind and I felt he did top notch work.  I had to have all the hardware replaced in my bathroom and this meant having to have some of the tile cut away to make room for the removal and installation of a new diverter.  It was definitely a project that he was very well equipped for.

I would not hesitate to call Jim (and his son who is learning the trade) and have them do more plumbing work.  He was so friendly and I can't recommend him enough.  Finding a good plumber is not an easy job but Jim definitely changed my perspective on that!!

Called Jim Peterson plumbing on a Friday, spoke to Jim himself.  I needed some new plumbing installed (ended up being roughly a $900 job).

He said he could come out and give me an estimate on Tuesday, latest appointment he was willing to do was 4pm.  Fair enough, I took off work early on Tuesday to meet him at the site.  He was a no-show and no-call.  Complete waste of my time.

I hire a lot of things done and very rarely have a problem, Jim Peterson plumbing has earned a spot on my contractor blacklist.  Thank goodness it was new work and not an emergency repair that I was trying to get done.

Be aware that if you try to hire this guy you may get the same service I did.

I took a day off of work to get some plumbing work done on my house. I scheduled an appointment with Jim Peterson Plumbing for 10:00. 10 rolls by, no call, no response. I call their number and get voicemail. I continue to call every half hour until about 2 hours later someone picks up and tells me he's not sure where the plumber is. A bit later I get a text message telling me they're busy and won't be able to make the appointment we set.
They made no effort to reach out to me proactively and inform me that they wouldn't be able to come by. And they did absolutely nothing to reimburse me after the fact.
I can't say anything about the quality of their work since they never showed up. But if you have a tight schedule and want a plumber that you can confidently trust to honor their appointments, I don't recommend going with these guys.

We invest in real estate including holding some rental properties.  When you run a business like this, to be successful you need to assemble a team that includes CPAs, attorneys, and trades like plumbers, electricians, and various contractors.  For us, Jim Peterson Plumbing has this category covered.  He is licensed and we have always been happy with the quality of the work he has done for us at what we consider a fair price.  If you have a plumbing problem, Jim has the solution.

I had a leaking shut off valve, so I left a voice mail with Jim explaining the situation.  That was four days ago.  Never heard back. Pretty poor.
