Extremely professional service and outstanding quality work. They took care of all our concerns from quoting to installation. I had a very old system with pipes going in all directions. The installed unit (gas  fueled steam boiler) fits the space perfectly.  New pipes were installed with true craftsmanship. And cleanup was meticulous.
Aside from the quality of work, the were simply nice people. You could tell that quality and service were their highest priorities. Use these guys. You will not be disappointed.

Steve came about a leaky toilet and didn't have the necessary part.  Said they were slammed today, and would need to come back another day, but when I pleaded my case, he went to a plumbing supply store and came back and fixed it.
Explained everything as he went.  Was courteous and capable.

It is normally a rule of thumb that I do not take chances on businesses lacking more than 4 positive reviews, or any reviews at all, but as a new homeowner in the Metro West region, I have learned that many business out this way I would expect Yelped are not, and most avid Yelpers I know are mostly renters in urban areas. We had a mostly positive experience with Wellesley Plumbing & Heating that has left me open but not yet committed to future household business with them. The circumstances of what wound up being our first job with them were complicated, and may be more responsible for my not quite perfect impression than WPH, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. Essentially, WPH had been recommended to us by another local service contractor we were then working with when we moved in to a new home in the Wellesley area. Originally, I had approached them for an estimate on the installation of a new GE GeoSpring HWH, but when it came back high, we reconsidered getting the GeoSpring. I then resolved, again somewhat against my own judgment, to buy a new HWH from Home Depot and just have them install it. Once the purchase was made, I learned my local HD did not do installations, and I called WPH. They arrived at the late end of our agreed appointment window, and once the job was done the HD unit would not power on. The crew left for another job, and my wife and I had no hot water the first cooler weekend of fall, which sucked. Once I determined I would return the HWH to HD, I resolved to buy one of WPH's HWHs, have them uninstall the HD unit, install their AO Smith, and take the old unit (pre-HD) away. They then sent a new team -- or rather one perfectly competent but solo tech, which made the job take twice as long. Finally, we had a new heater and the other HWHs had been dealt with. The new heater is not the HWH we had originally looked at (not through WPH), but is definitely better than what we had before. I had also separately ordered a WAGS emergency shut-off valve on recommendation of our realtor, which WPH agreed to install over the phone, but the techs said would be a waste of money if installed. Not sure who to believe here, but I returned the valve and will try to figure out a new safety mechanism procedure. The WPH HWH was more expensive than what we had just purchased, and while they did subtract $150 from the original installation, the bill was pretty steep. The techs and storefront people have all been nice and cool, but I hope we might be better protected and better assured as customers going forward, or I will switch to a different plumber.

On time, polite, and explain things very clearly. They are really the best one so far that i have used. They recently replace my HWH, they do a great job. Very organize and clean.

Price is fair consider the way they handle the installation and feeling that i got that they want to get the job done properly.

I had also used Lowes contractor before, Not a good choice, too many hacks and short cut.

I say a 4 stars for sure for Wellesley Plumbing and heating. Thank you for great work

Critical: Professionalism, Responsiveness
We have used Wellesley Heating and Plumbing for 10 years. We needed 2 water filters changed on 80 gallon tank. One of the two canisters couldn't  be opened so plumbers installed new canisters. The plumbers changed one filter and forgot to change the second filter when they returned.

We complained water tank ran out of hot water and they said they checked and there was no problem.
We called another plumber a week later because we knew the water filters weren't changed. There was sediment in our toilet bowls. Filter wasn't changed. New plumber made suggestions to figure out problem with water heater and is working on problem.

I called and wrote owner Robert Lynch about problems and in over two weeks he has never returned my call or written back.
Really sad and disappointed as we thought we could rely on this business when we had heating and plumbing problems.

This place was established in 1910, you would think by now they would have learned to hire competent, customer-oriented employees.

These guys recently came out to fix a drain issue at our home, admittedly, after my acting job as home-plumber failed to receive any accolades from my small audience. The first gentleman who came out to quote us was very polite; however, when it came time to get the job done we were left with a rude, ignorant heavyset guy named Randy.

This guy had no clue what he was doing and took forever. I had to take time out of work to handle this problem only to encounter this weighty headache. This guy moved like molasses, slowly and with no regard to anyone or anything in his path.

It just goes to show that there is not always a correlation between time in business and quality customer service. Sorry for the rant, I'm just frustrated.

WP&H fixed our boiler ultimately.  The owner was incredibly responsive and helpful.  He was available to us at all hours and was forthcoming about the cost and issues.  And Steve, the technician, was fantastic.  He spent the time, explained everything to us and clearly cared to help us get our hot water working even in with a boiler that he doesn't work with frequently.  I didn't rate them higher because we had a lot of trouble getting in touch with them for follow-up appointments to resolve the issue.  Our first call was on a Wed and the issue wasn't fixed until the following Tuesday.  Steve had helped us find a work-around for the weekend, but we were waiting for heat for almost a week because the person answering the phones/scheduling technicians didn't return our calls.  They gave us a discount in the end and we really liked the actual plumbers, but had we known it would take so long and that we would be waiting for responses for days, we would have chosen another company.

I asked Wellesley Plumbing to look at my outdoor AC compressor after another company told me I needed at minimum a new motor, and sent me a written estimate for more than $700. When Steve G. from Wellesley Plumbing arrived, I described the problem we'd had with the AC. He immediately said, That sounds like a bad capacitor. Let's go look. As I watched, he checked the capacitor and showed me that it wasn't drawing power adequately. He replaced it and the AC system immediately began to work and has been doing so for two weeks. The price of the replaced part: $27. Needless to say, Wellesley Plumbing and Steve impressed me with their strong competence and honesty. Incredibly happy to have found them!

I had been using a large company for air conditioning and had them do some maintenance work on my heating system as well.  Within a few months I had some burst pipes and had them come out to asses and fix the situation.  The guy they sent out felt he couldn't fix my system, my boiler was about to go and said he could install a new one for just shy of $15000 on top of what they'd already charged without actually fixing my system.  Upon receiving the quote I called a couple of other companies to get second opinions.  They all said I had another 25 years left on my boiler.

Out of the group of second opinions, I chose Wellesley Heating and Plumbing.  They ripped out and replaced what the first company did at a lower price than the first company had already charged me.  No boiler replacement, and the system is running better than ever.  That was in January this year.  Now it's November and the heating is still working the best it ever has.  I'll definitely go to them again.

9/18/2018 - Still using them, last week they came out to help with my AC which was acting up.  It worked out well and was affordable.
