Did a large job with them and expected them to offer service as agreed during the install. Since then have not been able to get a call back. Get service agreements in writing perhaps but my experience has been they do not respond to calls

We are grateful for a great job by Chase & Tolan replacing our sewage pipes in the basement of our condo building.
Joseph Tolan reviewed information and photos of the needed work and provided us with a quote. Later he contacted me with specifics, suggestions, and advices and scheduled the date of the proposed work within a month time.
On the date of repairs two professional plumbers, Kevin and Amias, arrived strictly on time and inspected the scope of work. These two plumbers worked hard and diligently and done everything, working non-stop, before the job was completely done. Together we've tested the new sewage pipes to make sure no leaks were detected. They've proved to be real professionals, explained many issues, provided us with good advices, were courteous and friendly.
We would like to thank Joseph, Kevin and Amias for everything!

I've used them several times now and they're usually OK. However, I had a clogged sink recently and called them after trying and failing to snake it myself. I left a big, clearly visible note inside the empty cabinet where the sink drain pipe enters the wall. I explained how I had already tried to snake the drain but the clog was more than 25 ft. down (the length of my snake). I also left the snake sitting right next to the open cabinet with the note...
My wife then explains that they came, tried for 45 minutes to snake the drain then left saying, have to get a longer snake. As you probably know, plumbers aren't cheap so the wasted 45 minutes essentially doubled my bill.
So I thought I'd call and talk to them. I called their phone service, they tried to call back, I re-called, etc. we kept missing... Now, at least they tried (hence the third star) but, in my experience, it's nearly impossible to reach these guys (no website, no email...). I gave up and paid double what I should've. I'm going to try a different plumber next time.

We called Chase & Tolan in a panic today when our heat went out (in single-degree temperatures, naturally) -- they called us back within 20 minutes, and rather than charge us for a visit, David walked my fiancé through a likely fix over the phone. It did the trick, and our heat is back in business. Thank you!!!

Chase and Toland have been our plumbers for years.  They are very knowledgeable which is crucial to us as we have an old (1888) house. And they have always always assisted us quickly with our many emergency over the years.  Today I was inspired to write a review thanks to the stellar service Kevin provided when we had our kitchen counters updated this week.  He came  over early the first day to disconnect the sink in our bathroom and in our kitchen.  We were so pleased that he was well versed in the intricacies of this complicated retrofit.  Kevin was very professional and pleasant and took time to answer all our questions. He came back on time again the next day to reconnect everything.  We couldn't be happier

The team is a pleasure to work with and you will be very satisfied with their services.

We had a plumbing emergency recently -- our water heater blew -- flooding the basement floor - and leaving us without hot water.  Chase & Tolan responded quickly sending over a great team (Brandon and another plumber) who removed the broken water heater,  got a new one for us and then installed it all within a few hours.  Brandon was great -- positive and confident attitude.  Very clear directions and recommended follow-ups for us too. Really appreciated the quick action.

These guys are excellent. Explained the process. Arrived when they said they would. Young guy was polite and efficient and explained everything to me before he left. Would use again in a heartbeat.

Chris installed two faucets efficiently and skillfully.  His company charged by the hour, which meant that the price was half what another plumbing company gave me as an estimate. And they came right away to do the job, another big plus.

I called at 3:15 pm on a Friday afternoon and someone was here before 4.  They did a great and quick job.  I'm incredibly impressed and will be going back to them whenever I need plumbing issues fixed.  I'd recommend this company.  Everyone I spoke to was nice and professional, including the guy who came to fix the sink.

Wish we could say something about the service of Chase & Tolan, but five messages over two weeks were just not enough to get a return call.  The answering service promised a return call the next business day, and promised to leave a message for Dave.  But in the next call we learned that Dave is out of town, so Joe will call us back.  We haven't heard from Dave, or Joe, or anyone else.  We understand never answering your phones, but come on Dave Joe and anyone else, how about returning your phone messages?

Go find another plumber.  this one never responded to any of several messages left with answering service over several weeks.  if a business can't answer its phones, and can't return messages left with its answering service, it probably can't handle or doesn't want the work.

They are the best I have ever worked with. They call back within half an hour, talk over your issue and work out the most time and cost efficient way to deal with it. Broken pipes, last minute dishwasher installation and removal... also water heater went and they had a new one up and running by the end of the day. So good. And... they leave the premises spotless. Prices are very fair for how conscientious and professional they are.

This is my 2nd time using C&T and I am pleased again with the service.  Just one star deducted because I first called on a Sunday and was told I'd hear back Monday and had to call again Tuesday to find out what was up.  I heard back the next day and everything was aces from then on.
   I explained my problem over the phone (mysterious leak from a roof corner). They weren't able to come for a week and I probed with them to figure out if this might be more urgent.  We decided it could wait (C&T gave me some suggestions to make sure the leak didn't get worse or to even see if it stopped temporarily, which was helpful).
  Nick arrived well within the time window they gave me.  He identified the roof leak problem, explained my options, and made the repair.  It was a much smaller problem than I had feared (invisible leaks are scary).  He also fixed a leaking exterior faucet and showed me how to turn off the faucet for the winter. I took the opportunity to ask about a kitchen sink faucet that would sometimes be difficult to move from side to side (it was ok at that moment).  He explained why that might happen and offered to lubricate the faucet. He gave me some ideas in case I might want to switch out to a more updated unit.
  All in all I was very happy with the visit.  All reported problems were fixed, and Nick was clearly knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions that I had.  Would call them again.

They are reliable, and seem like good guys.  They're a little pricey though (but aren't most plumbers?).  I think that their rates start at $80 an hour.

These guys were the first to respond to our plea for help when our pipes burst and then unfroze (shooting water everywhere) on a weekend.  They quickly helped us resolve the problem, and without them pointing it out I think we wouldn't have even realized we could get our insurance to cover a big part of the damages.  Can't recommend them highly enough.

Do not call them for anything. The first thing he asked me is if he had worked with me before. I said no. Then he proceeded to tell me he was not taking on any new customers. I guess they must have a ton of money after the covid crisis in order to turn away people.

Good for them if they are busy, but how hard would it have been to simply say sorry, we're overwhelmed right now, you should call somebody else, rather than leaving me hanging waiting for a return call?

I am very particular/picky and want things done right the first time,
I  am tired of having contractors that don't care about their craft, do substandard work that I have to fix later.
Never the case with these guys!

Non responsive after initial visit and no return calls after 4 messages left with live people over 8 weeks.  My job was a big one to replace 2 boilers.  I think too big a job for them but they didn't want to admit it.  So better to leave me hanging for 4 months I guess.

I called because we haven't had hot water and don't know anything about water heaters.  The answering service took my name and number.  A few minutes later, a really nice guy from C&T called back.  We talked through the issue, he made some suggestions to try first, before sending someone out.  First attempt (unplug & replug), worked like a charm.  HOT WATER, YES!!!!!

Thank you, C&T!  If I ever have another issue, I'm calling you guys first.

The replacement on a Friday afternoon of a broken toilet filling valve (in theory a simple DIY job), turned into a weekend emergency that required shutting off the water main, when I discovered that the filling valve was totally stuck and could not be removed -- it ended up breaking at the base, which caused the deposit to leak lots of water. To top it off,  the shut off valve for the toilet turned out to be ancient and non functional: it could not be shut off! Leaking water dripped along the line and into the kitchen downstairs, through the cabinets and onto the counters.

Other 24/7 services in the area either never replied to my call, or could not schedule me till the following Monday (that's not emergency service!), but Chase & Tolan: 1) took my call in the middle of the night, telling me to call for scheduling at 8:15 am , 2) took my job promptly at 8:30am, and 3) sent me a plumber within the hour.

The plumber quickly assessed the situation, could repair all the old parts in less than an hour, and gave me tips on how to avert this situation in the future.

EXCELLENT experience.

Yep, they were pricey; they undersized the heating requirements on our first floor, and even though they caught the error, our first floor still takes a VERY long time to heat up on cold winter days.  Do they ever return phone calls? We had them install a new heating system in our house a few years ago. I called them repeatedly for several weeks trying to get them to come out and tune up our boiler. Left several messages with their answering service, even faxed them two or three times in frustration begging them to call. Never heard a peep from them.

I called Wednesday morning to see about getting someone out to look at and repair the problems with my unit's heating. I was told someone would call me back to schedule. That's fine. No call ever came. So I called again Thursday and they apologized and said someone would call me back soon. It's Friday afternoon and no one has yet to call me.

Guess they don't want my business.

We woke up to a failed hot water heater on a Monday morning, including cold showers and a flooded basement (Happy Monday!). Chase and Tolan came the same day, their work was neat and tidy, their price competitive, the company's owner personally responsive. The whole experience was a big relief, because a few weeks prior to this we had had our furnace replaced by a company whose work we were very dissatisfied with. They had to come back  several times (which meant either my wife or me missing work three additional times). We will definitely call Chase and Tolan again. They got it right the first time. Thank you!

This company left my shower unusable and do not call back when promised. They run away from problems they can't fix and ignore phone call requests. See below for more details.

I called them up and asked them to come snake my shower since it had not been draining properly. I had to call and talk to the operator two days in a row before they called me back. When they got here they spent 2 hours snaking the drain and left and said they had to come back with more equipment and would call me after the weekend. Now the shower was not draining at all and was unusable and they only made things worse. Monday comes around, and I give them a call and they said they would call me back. Same thing happened the next two days before I decided to call someone else. The other company comes the next day, spends an hour snaking the drain and pulls out the head of a broken snake that was completely blocking the shower from draining. I would not recommend using this company at all. They left my shower unusable for a full week and would not call me back. At this time I have still not heard back from them. They have no regard for any of their customers and did not seem to care that they ruined my shower or left me without a working shower for a full week.

Chase & Tolan were hired during a house renovation. One of the projects they did was to move a radiator.

I was already feeling uncomfortable with them during the project, so I hired another company to do a complete radiator flush and boiler cleaning in the fall of 2018.

During the winter of 2018-19, the radiator they installed made a LOT of noise, knocking and hissing and other horrible sounds. I kept calling them and they ignored me.

They finally came out in mid-April of 2019. They claimed that the boiler needed cleaning and that was the reason for the knocking. Since the only radiator that was knocking was the newly installed one, this was provably false. And, as I said, I had the radiator and boiler cleaned before winter started.

They have charged me for this bogus repair of a badly installed product. And keep harassing me for the payment.

At 6:15 this morning, I woke up to find the temperature in the house was in the mid 40's. Looked at the furnace; yep, it's broken, and it's all voodoo to me.

Called Chase & Tolan at 6:45 am, their answering service asked what the matter was, and said someone would call me back.

At about 7:15 am, my phone rang; it was a C&T representative. We discussed  the issue for a few minutes. He let me know that they start at 8:00 am, and assured me that a technician would be over straight away.

At 8:09 am, true to their word, a Chase & Tolan van pulled into my driveway. The technician, whose name I unfortunately didn't think to get, was professional and courteous. Within five minutes, he had the problem diagnosed: My furnace had a faulty ignition control unit. The tech had to make a supply house run in order to get a replacement unit.

Since I'm able to work from home, I sunk down deep into my laptop and didn't really keep track of what was going on. Suffice it to say, Mr Tech was back an a flash with the new part, and did the R&R very quickly.

By 9:00 am, the heat was back on cranking, and I was getting ready to go to work.

The moral of the story is this: My problem was discovered and fixed in less than two-and-a-half hours thanks to Chase & Tolan. These guys are the greatest. If you're in the Watertown/Waltham/Belmont area and need a plumber, don't even think twice, just call them.

I've had them out to the house four or five times over the last seven years to handle various issues. Every experience has been as good as this one. They may not be the cheapest (I don't really care), but considering there's never been a callback, they're certainly the most economical.
