I contacted Akian Plumbing to replace an old kitchen faucet. The plumber showed up on time and repair was efficient, the price is reasonable and customer service is excellent. I am very pleased with their service and will definitely call again. 10/10

Our basement sewage pump stopped working on a late Friday afternoon and these guys were on site within 2 hours. They diagnosed the problem, ordered replacement parts, and stayed in touch throughout the process. On Monday, Jed and Thiago spent the entire day installing the new system AND cleaning up other nagging plumbing issues around the house. They were friendly and clean. I've used them a few times and clearly the owner of the business is doing something right with his training and coaching. I highly recommend them.

Mike and Bill were very helpful, prompt and professional. They replaced my bathroom sink handle after it fell off. Meg, the company's receptionist, was helpful and friendly as well. Would def hire them again

I made an appointment two weeks ago for Akian to come and fix our HVAC.  The process for making the appointment was fast and efficient, and I appreciated the dispatcher texting me just before the technician arrived to give me his name and share some information about his background and experience, which was great.  Brendan, the technician, was polite, thorough, and careful. He explained the problem and the solution very thoroughly and gave me some great advice about maintenance (who knew?!) and our older HVAC system.  Cost was around $300, which seemed fair to me. Also, he was extremely well prepared with gloves, mask, coverings on his shoes, and health-related questions for my family.  I feel very pleased to have called Akian for my HVAC and will be calling them tomorrow for plumbing. Great job, Brendan and Akian!

Phil and George P. came by today to perform fall service on our HVAC. They were very professional and courteous, and also very patient spending more that half an hour answering my many questions. I'm very happy with the service. Thanks guys!

Akian plumbing just replaced an old water heater for us. Steve was super easy to work with and provided a fair and accurate quote. The team arrived right on time and made sure to teach me about the system and clean up after. They even offer a follow-up inspection to make sure everything was installed correctly. Great service! I'd highly recommend them if you need a new hot water tank.

I originally used Akian Plumbing when they were newer in the business.  Their customer service attention was great because they were new and seeking to gain customers and good reviews, and they WERE good, though always on the expensive side.  That higher price was worth the reliability in a pinch and the good service.

Now, however, this is not the case.  I had them look at a small job sometime maybe a year and a half ago.  It's very small, installing a shutoff valve to separate two different pipes.  Keep one running, shut the other off, valve added and a little bit if pipe, like less than 2ft.  Originally they gave me a basic estimate but at the end of another job and not prepared to do it that day, no problem.  I had the job description and estimate so I called back with the description and estimate for work to be done to schedule it later.  I waited maybe 3 weeks to get that appt, they were busy.  When the appt. arrived the tech came and said he was here to do an estimate, no time to do any job because he had one scheduled already.  I was confused as I had waited like 3 weeks for the appt.  Nothing I could do about it so I went ahead. He studied the situation and wrote up the job understanding that I was already frustrated to lose time and wait again.  He said he would send the entire job description back to the office and next time I called he would make sure to make them give me a fast appt.

Next time I called was about two weeks ago.  I spoke to their office and referenced the job/estimate that I had in my email at this point and they said Ok they would call me back to schedule- they never did.  Another weekend went by, I called them again, same reference, same job, and I was finally able to schedule something for a week later.  Today the tech showed up at the appointed time, nice and courteous, but the office had given him absolutely no information about the job, just told hm to show up and he had a price, that was all.  He studied the job but was not really sure how to go about doing it, and it was mostly MY advice of how it should be done that got us to a resolution.  I am not a plumber and should not be giving this kind of guidance.

He said the original guy who did the estimate was no longer with them, and from what I was describing he would have to make an entirely new estimate which would be more expensive.  Apparently the office either did not have or would not give him (could not find?) any job description.

This is a really small job that really should not talk a lot of research for an experienced plumber and a well run office, which this is not at this point.  I was not willing to then do a third estimate and a fourth visit.  I realize at this point that as this company has grown they have dropped the ball.  Customer service is no longer the priority and they are not organized.  As a customer my scheduling time is also valuable.  Endless scheduling waiting, re-scheduling, complete lack of information retained, and ever changing prices has made me think I am wasting my time and likely my money.

The owner is a nice guy, and I am sorry to write this review but guy, run your business better.  No one wants to be dragged like this.  if the prices were cheap perhaps I could accept some irresponsible disorganization and wasting time, but this business prices at the high end, with a low end experience, now.

I emailed the owner, Steve, at midnight on a Tuesday to schedule a non emergency job.  He emailed me back immediately and we had an appointment on the books for that week.  His tech, Mike, was on time, considerate and didn't mind explaining each step to me.  Made a thorough assessment and immediately proposed and implemented a fix.  Also talked about contingency plans. Best plumber I have ever worked with!

Had an issue with my AC unit not blowing cold air. After going through yelp, I decided on Akian who reached out to me quickly. As I don't live at my property, my worry was that they would be late and not take care of the issue. However they were on time, diagnosed and treated the issue, and called me on the phone before leaving my property. My tenants and I both were impressed by their professionalism. I recommend them for AC repairs

All around excellent. What you hope to find in a plumber and rarely do. Communicative, professional, prompt, efficient, and fair. Really can't say enough good things about Akian, and Steve in particular. Even his recommendation for a high efficiency system technician was excellent.

Update: after some miscommunication, they've been very responsive and helpful in dealing with my old plumbing.

They've done a great job so far. They came out right away, within a day or two. Recently they put in a new water pump filter.

I reached out to Akian Plumbing & Home Services regarding a serious leak in our bathroom to see if they were available for same-day service.  I spoke with the owner of the company, Steve Akian, who could not have been more nice and helpful.  I explained the issue to him and he said that he could get a technician over to our home within a couple of hours (which was quite a relief, given that I'd contacted a handful of other plumbing services and each was unavailable for days or weeks).  Before the technician came over, Steve asked me to text over pictures of the water damage and areas of concern.  After reviewing them thoroughly (he noted small details in the pictures, which made it clear that he looked at them very closely), he identified the actual cause of the leak, which ended up not being related to our plumbing.  He gave me advice on how to address the issue and texted me a referral for a contractor.  And he did this all without charging me a dime, just because he's a good guy!  Great service.  I will be keeping Akian Plumbing's number on file for any future plumbing issues and I will be recommending their services to others.

Great experience during a plumbing emergency on a Saturday morning.

We had a broken pipe and after calling a few plumbers, we finally found Akian. They responded within 10 min to a text message I sent and assessed what needed to be done. About 20 minutes after I agreed the work, they were at our house and fixing the pipe. Reasonable fees (their emergency dispatch fee was 1/3rd the cost of another plumber we called), and good and fast work. In fact, they were done with the job, two hours before the other more expensive plumber was even supposed to arrive.

The plumber we had, Bill, was also just really friendly in the middle of what was a pretty stressful morning. Wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

Unreliable -
Made an appointment with the office. Received email confirmation the day before the scheduled visit which confirmed a three hour window.  Called the office after 4 hours had passed - no answer.  No call back. No apologies the following business day. No communication at all.  Find someone else who has some basic professionalism.

GREAT experience all around. I submitted a quote request through yelp and they called me within 15 minutes or so. The guy on the phone did a phenomenally thorough job understanding what our issue was (leaking shower and bathtub faucet), and they had someone available the next day.

The plumber that came out was great - really knew his stuff, diagnosed the issue within 15 minutes, knew which parts he needed to get, whole thing was quick, painless, and most of all effective. Leak is gone!

Well worth the money. Would 100% recommend.

Our Laars combi-boiler started to act up late winter 2019, we were able to skate by until November 2019. We found the boiler had degraded to the point it was leaking slowly but surely, which was doubly bad since the boiler was located on the 3rd floor of our townhome.

I reached out to at least a dozen local plumbers, here are the reasons I went with Akian:
- They were able to make an an appointment quickly and more importantly kept the appointment, Bonus points that they didn't have any weirdness about my wife instead of me being home.
- I worked directly with Steve Akian, he took his time to explain what he was seeing and answer all of my questions. He was professional, knowledgeable and I didn't feel pressured.
- The quote wasn't the highest (it wasn't the lowest either)
- The equipment installed (Lochinvar), which I had never heard of, had glowing reviews on the internet, something I can't say for the options I got from other vendors.
- They took care of permits, inspections, electricians, roofers, etc
- They did a good job of setting expectations, walking me through the process, etc

Things I liked about the install:
- They worked with my schedule, moving from initial quote to fully installed within 2 weeks. This helped reduce the disruption to our home, completing the install while we were out of town.
- The use of modern technology (email reminders, docusign, text, etc)
- The work was completed before Akian received a dime from us, not even a deposit
- The results just look really good, I immediately sent a photo to family members once it was done. Much better than the previous system.
- Minor follow up work was scheduled with professional, courteous office staff.
- Steve followed up personally for a walk through of the system

I have my peace of mind thanks to Akian Plumbing, I would not hesitate to call them again or recommend them to friends and family.

I've used Akian exclusively for two years after shopping around for an HVAC maintenance crew. They have consistently exceeded my expectations by showing up when they say they will and conducting work with a friendly attitude and professionalism. Today I had Phil O. and George P. come and assess repairs on my system. Before they left we were able to schedule a follow up. Akian isn't from the cheapest but they are among the best and stand behind their work.

I have only positive things to say about our experience with Akian Plumbing! Their response was fast and efficient. All communication was done by email which is great for me as answering the telephone during work hours can be difficult.
We had an issue with out toilet clogging which as been a chronic issue on and off for about 6 years. Even as a non-emergency, within 2 days of our first contact, Akian had a tech on site. Once the tech arrived he was very professional and walked my husband through everything he was doing. He quickly identified the issue, fixed it and even fixed a few extra issues. Their prices are very fair and reasonable.

I didn't think I'd ever write a review for a plumber as my experience with most have been disappointing -- very unresponsive, overpriced, and never on time. When my tenants complained about a leak in the shower, I tried reaching out to the original plumber that did the work as it was still within the 1-year guarantee. As expected, he ignored most of my calls and said I've committed to bigger projects this week. I didn't want my tenants to have to wait a whole week so I reached out to a few plumbers I found online.

I ultimately decided to go with Akian because Stephen (the owner) was absolutely amazing on the phone - he asked for a lot of information about the actual issue so that his crew could come prepared, and he clearly set expectations - when his crew would arrive, exactly what they would be looking out for, the hourly rate, and that they'd call if it was a bigger project that we expected. On the day of the appointment, they arrived on time, and had the right parts to make the repair, and were extremely professional. Stephen followed up with me after the appointment to explain what they found and what repairs they made and it was all within the budget we had discussed.

Couldn't be happier that I chose to go with Akian even if I could've gone to the original plumber that would've fixed it at no cost. I highly recommend these guys and will be a long term client!

I live in an old apartment building with very old plumbing and fixtures. Bathtub had been draining very slowly for a few months, and I couldn't snake it myself because the trip lever to access the pipe was completely stuck in place and couldn't be removed. Uriel came on the scheduled day and started by replacing the broken fixtures -- he was able to replace the trip lever as well as the bathtub spout (which had a stuck diverter). After that did not fix the drainage issue, he stayed and snaked out the drain. As I said, it's an old building so it was a tricky clog to find, but he was finally able to find and pull out the clog. He cleaned up the area before he left. My roommates and I are now enjoying a fully functional bathtub and shower.

Uriel was friendly and professional at every point in the process. After investigating the issue, he gave me quotes for all the different options, ensuring that I agreed on the plan and all my questions were answered before he proceeded with the work. As he investigated, he immediately informed me of any discoveries that would change the initial quote. The final fee was certainly on the expensive side from what I have seen for this type of work, but for the level of service and professionalism and convenience, well worth it. I even had some follow-up questions about my invoice a few days later and called the main office, and the person who answered the phone (Naomi) addressed my questions quickly and professionally. Scheduled an emergency heating issue on one of coldest nights in Boston on Jan 11.  Nice enough to move things around so a tech can take a look at my problem.

Tenants called me and told me tech arrived on time and is looking at the system, and had me talk to the tech.  The tech tells me the system is 30+ years old and will be more expensive to fix than replace and he can provide a proposal, and if I accept the proposal he can bring in baseboard heating for the house.  I said I would be interested to hear more given there's no other option.

Several hours later, I get a call from the tech indicating that he sent me the proposal and wanted to discuss them with me.  The guy wanted to review all 8 (EIGHT) proposals, and told me they can get going if I commit with a 1/3 down payment.  After the first one I told him I can't commit to any proposal and really need to take a look at each of the proposals.

The tech then tells me he just spent all that time writing them up and I'm wasting his time while there are other people needing his service, and I was the one who asked for the proposal.  I then ask out of curiosity what was wrong with the heating system - I know it's old but what's broken that will be expensive to fix.  The tech tells me he didn't look in detail and didn't want to touch anything because if he touches anything and something happens, he owns it.  I had to tell him it's broken already and what's why he's there.. to try to fix it but he didn't even bother doing that and just wanted to sell.  Maybe it's the technician but he was there to make a hard sell to get a bigger contract.  They are not in it to fix any small jobs (Akian, if you don't fix issues please don't waste my time).

that same evening I got another technician who came by to take a look, he replaced a thermocouple and gas valve, and the system was up and running in about 2 hrs.  I sent an email to Akian about what happened, they called back asking for more information and said they'll take care of it.

Then I get another call from Akian asking if I have any questions about any of the proposals.  Answer: I will not be going with any of the proposals.

Good service. However, they push high end services and have exuberant prices. For example, we got charged $633 (includes $99 dispatch fee) for an hour of work changing a bathroom faucet that we provided (which was well reviewed as a super easy installation by DYI folk). Anyway, it's hard to get plumbers in nowadays. Akian is pretty easy but you pay significantly more for their services.

We used Akian plumbing to replace an old water heater. Starting with the communication with Meg, Steve and the installation of the water heater, everything went really smoothly as was finished in a timely manner. Work itself was done with high quality and in a professional manner. I would definitely use Akian in the future.

Great service by Mike Wells today coming to address a blown capacitor on one of my heat pump compressors in our condo in the South End.  Fast, efficient, showed up on-time & fixed issue within an hour.

Akian didn't solve our problem but Orlando was able to diagnose the issue down to the wire and was more attentive to detail in the evaluation. Worth the call out visit even though the problem wasn't fixed.

Orlando does our maintenance for our heating / AC unit.  He is very professional, explains what he is doing, and gives honest recommendations of next steps.  Scheduling is very easy, and Akian is proactive in routine maintenance to prevent small issues from becoming larger ones.  We're happy to have them.

Akian was quick to remedy our issues and deliver the quality service that we were used to. There were some miscommunications which are only natural but I'm glad to say that all of our concerns have been addressed.

Here are the high (sic) points:
This was a visit to snake a backed-up waste pipe and determine the cause.  Five days after their visit, I got an experienced plumber (recommended by several people, NOT based on rando reviews) and it was like night and day.
1.  After hours of what seemed like flailing to determine the source of the problem (and having a lot of trouble with the snaking), the two young Akian plumbers finally decided on a solution.  The estimate for the suggested fix was not only a ridiculous price, but here's what the experienced plumber told me:  I could do this work for you and it would cost $xxxx (one-QUARTER of Akian's estimate, which he didn't know about) and I'd make a nice profit, but I wouldn't recommend that you waste your money because this isn't the cause of the backups.
2.  The Akian guys broke a snake, which the experienced plumber told me was an unusually small snake to use for a main drain They left the broken portion of the snake in the utility sink.  Experienced plumber told me that if the rest of the snake was still in the system, I'd have a serious problem, but as far as I know, they got it out.  
3.  They used a video camera to see if they could tell what was going on in the pipes out to the street.  (This costs extra.) I was supposed to get a copy of the video, and when I called about it because they failed to give me a copy when they left, I learned that THEY HAD FAILED TO HIT RECORD.  So no recording existed.
There's a lot more. The only good things:  (1) they wore masks in this time of COVID, and (2) they seemed to be trying really hard even though a drain cleaning company had not had so much trouble snaking the drain.  The whole point of getting a plumbing company was that drain cleaners are not plumbers, so although the drain cleaners did a great job snaking, they could not diagnose the problem nor fix it.  But as it turned out, neither could these plumbers.  It was an overall painful and bad experience,  and one I would not recommend, especially after having the benefit of an experienced and competent plumber only 5 days later.

New homeowner here and still learning the ropes when it comes to scheduling help around the house. I had a minor issue, which was purely precautionary rather than an emergency. I was hearing tapping/dripping behind my shower that I wanted someone to take a look at. Akian was extremely responsive and scheduled an appointment for the very next day. Turns out the tapping noise was just the expanding/contracting of pipes in the wall. What a relief. Bill from Akian checked out my issue. He arrived within the time range I was initially given, communicated when he would arrive and was courteous of my household. Definitely will be using Akian again in the future!

I wrote this review out of frustration because I had reached out to several plumbing companies, I either didn't get a response or a response that they wouldn't come out to my unit. I took Akian Plumbing's rejection personally which is my fault. Tara, the customer service manager took the time to personally called me to get an understanding of what happened and I got  an understanding from their perspective why they don't service certain areas. Anyways, really appreciate this conversation and commend them for being excellent with customer service.

Manny was thorough and helpful, explaining possible causes of a leak. He also explained costs of possible remidiation.

My experience with Akian plumbing is great. I was looking for a plumber to change my bathroom faucet and found Akian plumbing on Yelp. Stephen gave me a quote and replied questions very fast. Bill did an amazing job replacing the faucet and he also brought additional supplies. I highly recommend Akian plumbing and will definitely use them again if I have other problems in the future.

I waited until Akian came out a couple of times before I wrote the review -- I just wanted to make sure my first positive experience wasn't a fluke.

These guys are GREAT.  They've now serviced our a/c system and our tankless hot water system, and did some repairs on the tankless that we didn't even know we needed.  For the first time since we moved in 10 years ago, our system actually works well!   I'm beyond satisfied with these guys.  They're reliable, they're competent, they didn't try to sell us on lots of extra, unneeded stuff.  It goes without saying that they're humans, so sometimes they can't get here on time if another job takes longer than they'd expected.  But they text us and let us know, and that's fine with me.  I have to say that in 40 years of home ownership I've never found a group of plumbers as professional and competent as these guys.

Akian installed a heat pump system in our condo and did a fantastic job from start to finish. First, they agreed to price match a competitor. Second, they showed up every day following strict Covid protocols (masks, distancing, etc.) and wore protective shoe coverings when in the house. They worked quickly and efficiently. I had a few tricky requests, and they nailed them all. Alex and his workers (Antonio and Phil) were fantastic - super friendly and courteous. There were a few communication snafus toward the end of the job, but Akian made good on them all. If I were looking for any type of HVAC or plumbing services, I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Great service. My water heater died over the weekend. Akian replied quickly and was able to schedule an installation for Monday. Installation was quick and clean, and we have hot water again. Could not be happier with the experience.

My tub drain linkage piece had broken.  I had called on Thursday to schedule an appointment, and George was able to come on Friday.  He was able to install a replacement since he had a replacement part in his car - process was quick and easy!

Fixed flaky furnace that stumped others

Our furnace started turning off sporadically, leaving the house freezing cold in the middle of winter.  After 2 visits from a different HVAC tech who was unable to diagnose the problem, I tried Akian.  They did a great job of scheduling a prompt service call, diagnosing the issue, and installing a new furnace control board.  I was particularly impressed with their logical approach and persistence in fixing our temperamental old furnace.  Our heat is working again, and I'm happy customer!

Both Barry and and Antonio showed up in heavy rain to perform an inspection and cleaning of my AC unit. They were very thorough in explaining to me the process as well as addressing my concerns regarding my humidifier that was installed last year. They went above and beyond and would love to have them come again.

The booking was excellent. Their website has a very responsive chat feature which made scheduling my appointment a snap.

I had a slight natural gas leak in my basement that was coming from the elbow joint of my high efficiency water heater.  Getting this repaired was my top priority. I figured that while I have someone coming, I might as well get a few other repairs taken care of too. So my work also included replacing the leaky hose bib on the outside of my house, as well as cutting in a new hose isolation valve and low point drain for the hose to make winterizing easier in the future, and also a general servicing of the two H.E. water heaters.

Since the gas leak was the priority, they sent someone out right away to do that work.  The technician was on time, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He got the gas leak fixed in a short amount of time, and then we scheduled the follow-up visit for the lower priority items.

Due to the pandemic, we both wore face masks and did our best to keep 6 feet apart. Signing the work order and processing the payment was all done via smartphone which allowed us to keep distant. Overall I felt very safe and was able to keep distant.

Please read entire review for the complete picture: Of the three bids I requested, Akian was just a few dollars more than the other two, but Akain told me they charge by the hour and it could come out less, but no more than the bid for my specific job (installing plumbing and faucet for kitchen sink, and replacing a pedestal sink and faucet). The job actually took half the time alloted, so I paid less than half of the original bid. A huge win in my book, and I will call Akian again if I need more work, due to this honesty. One of the other bidders also had great reviews, but my email communication with Stephen Akian won the bid. Stephen was lightning fast at responses, and had no problem with getting the required plumbing permit in place before the work started. Stephen sent out Bill to do our job, and I could not have been happier with Bill's work. He ran into an unforseen surprise installing our pedestal (due to an old and unlevel house) but had the skills to remedy the issue. He even recommended replacing some little collars that snug up against the wall where the plumbing goes in as they were rusty, and would now be visible with the new pedestal design. An inexpensive fix that made a nice difference. When Stephen came for the plumbing inspection (which passed) he also tested our water for hardness. He was fun to talk to while waiting for the inspector, as he knew all kinds of interesting plumbing facts and stories. Icing on the cake was how soon we were able to have the work done, as he has a crew of plumbers. Thank you Akian plumbing team!

On our sink was broken. Our regular plumber's secretary said he would call that evening. He never called. So Bill, at Akian Plumbing came to the rescue. He explained that many plumbers just say throw out that old sink.. But he fixed it and we are very happy to have our old sink working again. Three other plumbers emailed that they didn't  work on those sinks.

My central a/c unit was squeaking on startup -- the original HVAC provider replaced a belt and said that the whole unit (outdoor condenser and indoor fan assembly) would need to be replaced as the fan assembly could not be repaired.  I contacted Akian (based on their ratings)  to get a second opinion.  Without going into a rather complicated story starting with their planning to fix the fan assembly, they were able to solve the problem by replacing bearings and tightening set screws.  Their system of communicating before and after the appointment is top notch.  They will be my go-to firm from now on.  In addition, on their first visit, they  noticed cracks in my sewer pipe which needed fixing, and would have gone unnoticed by me until calamity struck...

Love these guys & gals. Very knowledgeable and super helpful with a horrendous Toto toilet full skirted seat change. Would call them again in a heartbeat.  Great company.

Amazing service

Requested a quote for a blocked drain on yelp at, got a call back from Alex about 5 minutes later and scheduled a visit within an hour of the call. Cost was quoted and explained on the phone.

Bill was very friendly and helpful and was able to solve my problem and check all the drains very quickly and even fixed some of the piping under my sink that had not been installed properly at no extra charge.

About two hours later got an itemized invoice and request for payment via email. Payed with credit card via paypal

UPDATE: I was very satisfied with the minor service and repair work, but their diagnosis was that my system needs a more extensive repair job or a totally new install which I'm open to. I asked for an estimate but now can't even get a callback or text response. They talked a good game in the beginning and showed great promise, but ultimately didn't follow through. Not sure what happened, but it's disappointing.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Fantastic service. I had a problem with my combo heating/water unit, and they came same day. I was able to arrange it all by text message. Service tech was very knowledgeable and knew the problem exactly and what to do. And he explained every step to me Wouldn't hesitate to work with them again.

I highly recommend Akian Plumbing.  Fast response and they scheduled an appointment immediately.  They came out assessed the issue (leak from upstairs coming through my ceiling) and fixed the issue upstairs and cleaned my apartment and left both rooms in great shape.  The cost was reasonable and I will be calling them for all my future needs!!

Overall, a great experience. Our garbage disposal broke and I sent Stephen a message via yelp. He was very responsive and made it easy for me to schedule an appointment. The plumber assessed the situation and fixed it (without replacing my garbage disposal) and he also fixed my leaking faucet. We are very pleased with the service and highly recommend Akian Plumbing and his team!!

We had a tough ask to move our combi-boiler into an even smaller area so we could fit our washer and dryer under the stairs. Steve came out and spent over an hour with me discussing the various solutions on a Friday evening. Long story short, the day before the job, he reached out stating his team had a better solution that would save both time and money. Shawn (technician) came out and had everything wrapped up in 1.5 days at half the original quote. He was able to move all the copper piping even further than expected, giving us ample space under the stairs to place our washer and dryer. I would absolutely recommend Steve and his team for even the toughest job. From the first meeting to the end of the job, Steve checked in to make sure everything was going as planned. It's nice to find a company that is willing to work with you and provide quality work. Something that is hard to find in Boston these days...

I recently had the pleasure of working with Manny to repair my HVAC duct and vent pipes and heating system, and I have not witnessed such a high level of great service in a long time. From the moment I called, Manny and his team was prompt, courteous, and professional. Not only did they quickly diagnose the issue with my system, but Manny also went above and beyond to explain the problem to me and offer several solutions. I could not be happier with Akian Plumbing and and HVAC! Today, I had my faucet replaced and dispose-all fixed and Bill who has had 30 years of experience was efficient, friendly and professional. Everything about this company is great from setting up an appointment to on-time arrival and they charge a fair price. I even received a text with the name and photo of my serviceman before he arrived. The work was done perfectly and Bill provided me with helpful tips about using the equipment that he installed. I will definitely hire Akian Plumbing and HVAC again in the future.

We needed maintenance of our furnace that was not checked for awhile. James and Greg did a great work on cleaning the furnace and bringing it up to its optimal state. Their professional knowledge, competence and attention to detail were really extraordinary. It was a pleasure working with them. They came on time and kept the working space clean. We also appreciate their explanation of work done and the documentation that they provided. We signed up for the yearly maintenance and are looking forward working with them in the future.

Originally, there was a bit of a scheduling mix-up, but Steve Akian, the owner of the business, made everything right and then some through outstanding service from himself and his colleague Antonio.  They did a thorough tune-up and maintenance of two Central AC units for a single family home -- two units that had been somewhat neglected (and poorly serviced by other providers) for the past several years, with one of the units severely challenged with low refrigerant and a capacitor issue.  Given that the units are only ~7 years old, and with the comprehensive servicing performed by Antonio, I can envision these units going another 10-15 years, with annual maintenance.  I will be sure to use Akian for our annual maintenance going forward to prevent future issues

Most impressively, our outdoor condenser units are now shining, with Steve and Antonio taking the time to thoroughly scrub these units inside and out, including taking the covers of the units off and cleaning out built-up debris and leaves.

I feel cheated by Akian Plumbing!!! I think they charged me DOUBLE what other equally competent, licensed, insured plumbers would.

Background:  I had a service call today for maintenance on my hot water heater (had a blinking red light), and the service tech said he would not open it because it was near the end of life. He said he'd charge me a $129 visit fee, but I could replace the water heater as it was likely to fail soon. Under pressure to make an immediate decision or pay $129 for nothing, I agreed to replace it and in my shock stupidly signed their estimate of $4,575 (to install a replacement 40-gallon tank water heater with flue to the outside for off gassing).

However, after a quick internet search, several sources including Home Depot's website suggested the national average for installing a similar tank would be less than $2,000.  

I objected to the service tech and spoke to one of their front office folks.  Their explanation:  we do better quality service, we are better trained, we need to pay our workers, and we'll be there for you in an emergency.  There is no way to verify this!

Let me add that my original appointment with them was for 3 days ago, they cancelled at last minute and we rescheduled for today.

Let me also add that the person who answered the phone on my first call made two different WRONG assumptions (kept saying I had a tankless water heater when I said that it was a tank).

In the end, they knocked off a measly $200 to the bill. I feel cheated!!!

And the service isn't stellar. Why, exactly, the thousands of dollars extra in price?

We've been customers for years and have always have top notch service. All the technicians we've worked with have been great - very thorough, always on time, and explain everything clearly. Plus, I have never worked with a company that is so easy to communicate with. You can book appointments online, send videos of your issues, they text and call with updates - so much less stressful than other companies I've worked with.

I thought I would give back to Yelp with this review given I found Akian on Yelp and reached out to them due to the positive reviews. I was in the market to replace my 20-year-old failing 2 zone central AC system with either a new central AC system or a high efficiency heat pump system. I reached out to 3 companies to come assess and quote for both systems so that I could make the most informed decision.

The first company I reached out to was Kerivan-Lane who does my oil deliveries and who I have service contracts with for my AC and furnace. I've had good luck with them in the past and I thought given the relationship I had would get good service. After my initial call they called back a few days later to setup an appointment for the next week. The guy that came out looked at the systems and gave me some ballpark ideas for what the cost may be with a formal quote to come a few days later. A few days passed with no quote so I reached out and they said it would be with me soon. A few more weeks pass, and I still don't have it, I reach out and he's on vacation and says he'll get it to me the next week when he's back. It's now 6 months later and I haven't heard anything so scratch that. Keep in mind that this system would be $20k-$45k so it's very surprising that they wouldn't at least get me a quote.

I also reached out to a local company right up the road from me, LeBlanc Mechanical, who I haven't worked with before. They took my message and said they would reach back out about coming to quote, but I never heard back from them after.

Working with Akian was an entirely different experience. They setup my appointment during my initial call with them for about a week later. On the day of the appointment, I got a text that Steve Akian was on the way with a link to show you exactly where his truck was so you could anticipate exact arrival time. Steve, the owner, spent far more time looking at my existing system than Kerivan-Lane and asked specific questions about issues I was having in order to better inform his quote. He then asked to give him 30 minutes to prepare the quote that we could talk through. He went to his truck and prepared 4 separate quotes for various systems in that time for all the possible options I was interested in. He went through each in detail, and we worked together to come up with the best proposal balancing my needs/wants and cost. He also went into details on the MassSave programs available where I could get a $25k 0% interest HEAT loan as well as large rebates depending on the system to help pay for the system. While the quote from Akian was likely on the higher end of what others may have been, I got a strong sense that Akian would do a great job and take care of me. After a month or so of not hearing back from the others I signed the contract with Akian.

The job was scheduled about 6 weeks after I signed the contract to allow time to get all the equipment in and find the right window. Keep in mind this was during the height of supply chain shortages with COVID so the timeframe was very reasonable.

After the job was scheduled, however, it quickly became clear to Steve that all the equipment I needed wouldn't be here in time for the job. Instead of just pushing the job out, Steve worked directly with the vendor to see what other alternatives there were. I could have gotten a less efficient system for a bit of a cost savings which I didn't want to do, so he got the vendor to give a better rate and got me a MORE efficient system at NO ADDITIONAL COST to me.

Once we agreed on that Steve also learned that the combination of heat pump and air handler we were going to use wouldn't qualify me for the highest MassSave Rebate I was expecting, so he then upgrade the air handler and control system at NO ADDITIONAL COST to me. In the end, the job did wind up getting delayed an additional 2 weeks to get all the parts in but that wasn't an issue. During this time Steve also helped me work through the details of getting a MassSave HEAT loan to pay for a large portion of the system.

Steve's technicians, primarily Zach and sometimes John, were at my house for a week removing the old system and installing the new system. During the whole process they were clean, courteous and communicated very well as to what they were doing. When they were finished Zach made sure I had a complete understanding of the how the system ran and to reach out should I have any issues.

I did wind up have a couple issues related to one part of the install which isn't unexpected for a large job like this. Each time though somebody from Akian was at the house within a few hours of me calling to rectify the issue. After the install, Akian also helped me with the paperwork required to get the MassSave rebates.

Overall, my experience with Akian was exceptional. I don't think I've ever worked with such a modern and well-run service company. I would highly recommend Akian for your heating & air conditioning needs to anybody.

Very pleased with the new combination boiler that was just installed.  Akian was very responsive to my request for quotes and although the price was somewhat higher than I expected, I'm hopeful of trouble -free service from the new boiler.  Josh and Derrick, who installed the unit, were very professional and organized and kept me informed about what they were doing.

We had an HVAC issue mid-July. Alex's crew came out the next working day. They assessed the problem in a logic, systematic way; fixed it, and; set us up on a routine maintenance schedule. We are very please with the service and professionalism. We would highly recommend Akian.

We've FINALLY found our go-to plumber in Somerville! Working with Akian plumbing was super easy - I sent a message through Yelp and someone immediately responded. Then Stephen, the owner, directly texted me to diagnose my exact problem. He was super informative and extremely fair with pricing (in fact, we had received a quote over DOUBLE what Akian quoted us). Within 2 days, a team member was at our house to remove our broken Watts Intelliflow connected to our washing machine. We learned that Akian actually knows about special valves that can be used to detach the useless Intelliflow, hence the fair/reasonable price vs the other plumber. The crew member was incredibly communicative, WORE BOOTIES (huge to me), and fixed our washer with ease. I even had a few follow up questions a few days after and texted directly with Steve, and he was so kind to humor me lol. I highly recommend Akian!!!

Excellent company. The owner Stephen asked us to send a photo of the toilet we needed work on so that he could give us an accurate quote. He was up front with the costs, and said that the toilet was quite old so that the whole thing may need to be replaced. I always appreciate knowing worst-case scenario and having an overestimate rather than being unpleasantly surprised.

Once John arrived, he was incredibly helpful. He fixed the toilet within minutes and explained everything that he was doing. He even took a look at our other toilet and the bathroom faucet because I thought that they had some issues, too. He was friendly and took the time to make sure that we understood our options regarding the faucet. And he was able to repair the toilet without us having to get a new one!

Would definitely use this company again. Definitely a league above any of the other plumbers we have used.

The short: Quick to respond to service inquiry, able to arrange next day service call, issue quickly resolved and detailed explanation provided.

The long: Had an issue with the water pressure in my kitchen sink on a Thursday at 4:40PM. Jump on yelp to take a look at the experiences people have had with my old plumber that I hadn't used in a while and to get an idea of what I might expect with a new one. Apparently, 99% of plumbers in the area close at 4PM (not 5PM or 6PM when most people get home and actually become aware of a problem and/or have time to actually call a plumber.)

Came across Akian Plumbing. Excellent customer experiences across the board and apparently accepting calls until 10PM. I had my doubts, most likely an answering service. Call and get their voicemail. I leave a message. Voicemail also mentions a 2nd number. Call the 2nd number and leave a voicemail. Thinking to myself most likely not going to get a response tonight so I'll send them an email as well and hope to here back tomorrow. Had just enough time to log in to my email, copy and paste the address and type Hello.

I get a call back from the 1st number. How can we help? While I'm on the phone giving them the rundown, I get texts from the 2nd number. Got your message, how can we help? Awesome.

Over the phone, Alex (one of the mangers) gives me a quick rundown of what could be the issue and he tells me he can get someone out to my place the next day and provides me with a 3 hour window. Service call scheduled in less than 24 hours. Amazing.

I let Alex know that I won't be around and to please call a different number to get let in. No problem.

I also tell him in case they can't get in touch with the 1st guy, to please call this 2nd guy. You know, as backup. Will do.

A few minutes later I get a confirmation email with pricing, terms & conditions, and other helpful information. Fantastic.

30 minutes prior to the service call, Bill reaches out to me to let me know he's on his way. Plenty of time to get organized. Perfect.

Get a call a little while later from Bill: All set, here's what the problem was with the kitchen sink and I fixed it. Also, I went beyond the call of duty and checked out the bathroom sink. By the way, the same thing was starting to happen so I took care of that as well. Attention to detail.

Able to settle the invoice over the phone and within 60 seconds receive email receipt and service call summary of actions undertaken to resolve the issue. Professionalism, responsiveness and technology. Easy as 123.

The next time, I won't even bother checking Yelp for reviews. I'll just call Akian.

I hired them to repair and replace the waste/sewer lines in my condo. I had several other plumbers look at it before Akian, and they all told me that it would be too complicated to take on. In contrast, Akian sent over a team of pipe experts to provide me with an estimate. They finished up the work exactly on schedule and at the budget they gave me. The crew was thorough and efficient and cleaned up the place when they were done. They were also friendly, responsive, and punctual. I'd highly recommend them.

I called them three weeks ago and left a message for a major plumbing problem in the bathroom and they never returned my call  however Steve called me and explained to me that their new answering machine has a glitch and does not record some of the messages !
The fact that he cared and spend the time researching the problem makes me happy that if there is a next time I will call them first and give them another chance

Akian came after another guy didn't do the job right (and charged us almost as much as they did to do it right even though he did the wrong work), got us heat and had the problem fixed with a long-term solution. I read the reviews on here and that's why I called them. They sent an expert, were very fair price-wise I thought. They were clean and tidy, polite, communicative, gave an estimate and then proceeded - overall, very professional. Good guys!

Akian has been my go to plumbing service for some years - they respond quickly, clearly know what they are doing, and I thought their prices were fair (not cheap,but not gouging either). However after a recent experience with dishwasher replacement I no longer think they are fairly priced and will be shopping around first before using them again. I had a basic dishwater replacement job (no new lines, outlets or anything - old one out, new one in). On top of the $79 dispatch fee, the tech who came to take out the old washer first quoted me some fantastic price to the tune of $700 for removal of the old one and install of the new one. Upon clarifying this turned out to be a mistake and the actual price was $429 on top of dispatch fee. The overall time spend was barely an hour and a half. If you ask me, this is way too expensive for the work involved. I since called another highly rated plumbing service on Yelp and was quoted a range of $175-300. This makes more sense to me - as well as a range -as some job may be more complicated than others (running a new water line, an outlet etc).

Excellent service all around with service you can trust. Prices are comparable to other plumbers. Super quick turn around time. Was able to coordinate everything remotely with excellent communication.

Stephen and his team were great. Very responsive (weekend and late hours), and flexible with times! Stephen even came to do a walk through at 9pm because it fit with our schedule!

Responsive, informative, and courteous service. The technician explains everything thoroughly. He even helped fix a Frankie faucet, poorly installed by the previous plumber, temporarily, until we could schedule service.

I bought a new dishwasher and had been given the run around for two weeks by my previous plumber.  I came on Yelp and asked for a quote from Akian yesterday morning and they responded very quickly and even scheduled an appointment for today!  The plumber called me ahead of time and was actually able to be there earlier than the original appointment.  He worked quickly and was also kind enough to give me some advice about other plumbing questions that I had.  He even noticed a small leak under my kitchen sink and fixed it right before he left!  I will definitely be calling Akian for any plumbing needs in the future.

Akian pluming have come through for us time and again for all sorts of plumbing projects. Our latest request from them was to have our heating situation evaluated which had crashed two weeks prior. It had been over seen by an HVAC professional and also an electrician who both did some manipulating but couldn't get in back online.  We have an Ecobee smart-thermostat which requires some extra hook ups to our boiler via common maker in order for it to work and also be mobili controlled. When Akian's guys showed up to run diagnostics they figured it out that the electrical wiring needed to be re done and completed the task in less than a couple hours.  We are so thankful for their quick responses, bringing us up to speed,  and the multitask ability that these guys can do.

I highly recommend Akian Plumbing HVAC or Boiler services as well as his great plumbers.  They're all really great guys and have excellent energy. I enjoy working with them every time and my 3 pets are always comfortable with the company that shows up to handle our occasional mess. They absolutely get two thumbs and 12 paws UP!

Had one initial conversation over the phone about setting up a date to make repairs. Yes, I can definitely do this, was the response, but I must let you know a good day coming up next week. OK, great. Then a week goes by and nothing. Following that, 4 (polite) calls trying to nail down a date to actually come and do the work fell into a black hole.  2 weeks wasted for nothing.

Steve, Steve, Steve...some free advice - hire an Admin. Assistant to take your calls and do your scheduling so you don't piss off any more customers.  You either can't handle the administrative end of your business or you just don't give a rat's @ss to get back to people in a professional manner.  Sure hope it's the former...

I was really optimistic with the great reviews and a positive initial interaction, but then there was a last minute cancellation of an appointment (it happens), followed by someone coming and saying they would have the part to fix our shower in a few weeks. That was in July. I am still waiting. I reached out twice to ask about whether the part was ordered or coming, and the first time was told someone would get back to me. The second time no one even responded. I moved on to another company that got the job done quickly and professionally.

We've used Akian twice now for small jobs and both experiences were great. They've responded quickly to inquiries, explained our options clearly, and provided good, fast work. They told us how much to budget for the job and came in well under that in our case.

We've been wanting to install a ductless mini split system in our condo for two years, but have found it difficult to find a contractor we liked/who was willing to do the work. So far, our experience with Akian has been the exception. It was easy to set up an appointment to have an estimate done, and our technician, Phil, is one of the most professional and helpful people I have met. He was a pleasure to work with, and I would highly recommend him. In particular, his attention to detail and care (especially related to unit placement, symmetry, and aesthetics) was a wonderful surprise. Finally, Phil is an excellent communicator, who worked with us to finalize what work we wanted done and to get us to the point where we felt comfortable with our plan.

Professional and quick service. I found all the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Appreciated that they were easy to get ahold of and gave me an accurate window of when they would arrive. Followed covid precautions and social distancing well.  The staff was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and made great suggestions for general and quick maintenance that would save me money in the long run. Also found their quotes to be competitive.

They were able to come over the next morning.  Our plumber was friendly and very speedy.  He ended up fixing the garbage disposal without having to replace it, so it was much cheaper than we had hoped!

Well, this company is amazing. I called in the morning and got an immediate response. The job required was a very small one, just a shower tap, but John was around the same day with a huge smile and very efficient. I strongly recommend Akian.

I messaged through Yelp, Stephen messaged back very quickly and gave me a quote and an appointment. Mike came to do that job and I had an additional plumbing job that he took care of too. He is straight-forward, honest, easy-going and a great plumber. Their pricing is very reasonable too.

After15 years my central air conditioning unit stopped cooling. Called a variety of contractors and was quoted diagnostic fees ranging from $500  to $200 .

Akian came out for $129. James the technician spent easily an hour and a half researching the problem. After ruling out what he could, he told me we could proceed with a more sophisticated diagnostic test or simply proceed with replacement. He showed me the rusty coils and as the refrigerant has been banned by the EPA ,  I knew it made no sense to repair.

We later found out Akian no longer installs or services this type of heat pump. James  was very apologetic and refunded me $50 of the $129.

James worked hard to diagnose and potentially fix the problem. He did not do a hard sell, but wanted to know what I thought of the options.  Later, when James found out they could not proceed with the ideal solution, he was apologetic and happy to refund me.

I would call them again in a second.

Phil O. did a great job ensuring that my HVAC system was working properly. He walked me through what he was going to do, did a very thorough job and then summarized what he found in a really helpful manner.

He was great and made me want to work with akian again in the future for all of my plumbing and HVAC needs.

I've been meaning to write a review for Akian Plumbing and Home Services for a long time. In the past 2 years they have helped our family with numerous plumbing and home service emergencies. Steve Akian is a sharp business owner that indexes highly on fast response time and customer satisfaction. When our kitchen sink had a leak last year, Steve's team came out and fixed it within an hour, which prevented serious water damage in our basement. More recently, our dishwasher broke, and Steve's team installed the new one very quickly. They are professionals that do their best work quickly, even when being paid by the hour. I'd highly recommend Steve and his team at Akian Plumbing and Home Services.

I contacted Stephen about my garbage disposal which was repaired by another company last November. He sent a very nice plumber, Joe, who was prompt, professional and efficient. He replaced the disposal quickly and neatly. He removed a clog and educated me on maintenance, neither of which he was required to do for the price quoted. I recommend Aikian and will use them again!

Our toilet was leaking to the basement causing some damages to the drywall ceiling in the basement. We call Akian heating and plumbing company and we appreciated their prompt response and sending their plumbing engineer George Aroush who came and inspecting the cause and the damages from the leak, he gave us options and recommendation and within few days a new toilet seat was installed professionally and no further leak is noted. George was a good  handy, professional and pleasant to work with.

I originally was going to give them 4 stars but everything fell apart after having them come out once. They not only scheduled me at a certain time frame which I took the day off for but failed to show up until around 8:30pm. They did discount the work they performed but after they left my heating and air conditioning still didn't work. It's been 3-4 months and I have called back around 3 times and left voicemails but they seem to be dodging me. Don't be fooled by yelp ratings they seemed interested in helping me but we're only interested in making a quick dollar off someone who needed their services. At this point I would still like them to fix my issue but wouldn't trust them to. Sorry Akian you guys let me down. The only positive thing was the technician who came to do the work was very polite and seemed honest, wish the owners were the same.

Over the years, we've found that the guys who deliver new appliances can be kind of hit-and-run in their work. when they have to install the those appliances. So it was an easy decision to bring in Akia to set up our new washing machine and gas dryer. As expected, our technician Uri did a very thorough and savvy job with all the connections (gag, electric, and water) and appliance positioning. The job also included replacing a choked-up dry vent with new metal tubing, which should make a big difference in dryer performane.

There's a reason we love this company.

Akian Plumbing is by far the most professional plumbing and HVAC service company in the MA area. Scheduling is super easy, they are very attentive, and they explain thoroughly what they need to fix before doing any work.

I've used their services multiple times and always 100% satisfied.

It took some time but Steve from Akian Plumbing contacted me about my issues and apologized for responding much later since he was not aware of the issue until he saw my review here. We discussed what had occurred and he offered to send an senior technician to replace the faucet free of charge. The technician, Bill, came and replaced our faucet with one that leaves ample room underneath and made adjustment to the water flow through the aerator as well. We also had an custom aerator that could turn on/off water flow that we couldn't find a replacement for. Bill was able to track it down for me online.

This was a good recovery and it addressed our issue with satisfactory result. It give me confidence to continue to use Akian Plumbing for my future needs knowing that they are willing to address their mistakes and make the effort to reach out and correct them.

Highly recommend these guys! I needed to replace a wall-mounted vanity that the original builder had installed incorrectly, and I'm so glad I found Akian. Steve was very responsive to my questions leading up to the installation and even helped me get a discount on the vanity and faucets.

Bill did an excellent job with a rather tricky project. It turns out that the walls in the bathroom aren't square, so the project required plenty of creative problem-solving. He even helped us replace some supports in the new vanity by making new ones out of spare wood. He was extremely friendly, professional, and clean. Thank you so much!

Stephen was the first plumber to respond to my hysterical cry for help after my partner dumped a huge pot of mung beans (random) into our garbage disposal....and it stopped working. The nasty handfuls of crap I was pulling out of there didn't help the situation, so we knew we needed a professional.

At first, Stephen thought we might be able to just fix it but when he came, it was clear that the garbage disposal was old and needed replacement. I was glad for this because it had been leaking anyway and the person who came to fix it said he was shocked that it still worked, given the erosion. They'd brought a garbage disposal in case so it was taken care of on the spot.

All that you need to know is this business is reliable, friendly, non-judgmental (again: mung beans? down the drain?), and quick. Price was on par with market rates.

I have used Akian Plumbing several times and have always been very happy with their services.  Today I was assigned Evan as my plumber and he's outstanding!  He is personable, works fast, and leaves everything neat and clean.  Beyond that, he has a marvelous sense of humor and I enjoyed having him here to fix my problem.  We kept up a lively banter while he worked (he can multitask) and if he didn't have other jobs scheduled I'd have invited him to stay for a cup of coffee.  This is a fine young man with the work ethic of an older generation.  He gets 6 stars in my book!

We've worked with Akian a few times now, after getting ghosted by the folks who installed our HVAC system.  Every time, they're professional, prompt, transparent, and diligent.  We know exactly what we're getting, how much it'll cost, and given multiple options to proceed with.

Most recently, we've worked with Phil and Orlando to assess how we might be able to resolve an issue with our system intermittently turning off and they presented clear paths forward.

We were lucky to then have Jhonatan, Jorge, and Justin come in quickly and swap out our existing system for one that was a better fit for our home.  The work was tackled quicker than expected and with full transparency throughout the process.

Tyra from Akian Plumbing gave me a call after seeing my review.   We discussed what had happened and she said she would bring up the issues I had with the team.    Hopefully they will incorporate the feedback and explain to people who call for quotes that they are a premium service (her words) which is why they may be more expensive that others.   If they are able to provide people with a rough estimate prior to having a in service visit, I think that would go a long way.

Went on yelp to find a plumber after a kitchen faucet replacement did not go as easily as YouTube said it would. Found Akian and took a chance and could not be happier. They responded super fast to my request on a Sunday and happened to have an open spot the next day. We set up the appointment through text (which did makes things a bit easier).

I left 3 messages and a text over the course of two days to inquire about getting my central air unit checked out before turning it on for the season. It's been 4 days since my first call and still no one has reached out. Guess who lost my business!

This is my 3rd experience working with Akian and I've had all great service appointments so far. John S. came a few weeks ago due to an issue with my cold water valve. He was friendly and efficient, and gave me several options for fixing the problem at different price ranges. I ultimately chose to repair the valve I had instead of replacing it and John made sure everything was in perfect working order before leaving.

These guys are great. We used them twice in one week: to replace an old garbage disposal, and to service our boiler. They call in advance of their arrival, show up when they say they will, clean up when they're done, and are very thorough and professional. We've been having problems with our heating system for years. He got heat to come out of a duct that's been useless forever, and made adjustments that reduced the noise level and improved airflow overall. Very impressed.

I love this place. I first used them during a weekend emergency last year. My toilet was leaking out of the back. I was able to txt with them, and send them a vid of the issue. The response time was so fast, and the problem was rectified quickly.
Recently I needed to replace the bowl of a pedestal sink, and a garbage disposal.
They had an opening days ahead of our target date for scheduling. They came over the same day, and did all the work perfectly, in under 2 hours. Super pleasant processes each time. The  plumbers have been so awesome.

Service: Shower repair

First of all, Akian's office scheduled a window of time when we were available for the repair, which is industry standard, but then their office followed up with an exact time on the day of the service with a text picture of the technician and his background, then the technician called on his way, very nice touch, so I was not waiting endlessly for their arrival and could do other things, very impressive. When Bill arrived we described our shower issue, Bill diagnosed the problem, gave us 3 options and then I asked him for his recommendation,  Bill's insight to the likely issue with the components involved was very clear on the potential wear factor of the Simmons assembly. We went with his recommendation and when the work was completed with Dominic, his junior technician that Bill was very professionally  mentoring for Dominic's future in the Plumbing repair field, the decision was spot on. The components showed the wear and defects that Bill anticipated. As a customer with a cold start with a technician, Bill professionally introduced himself, via the call on route to our home, then explained the repair options and then delivered a timely cost effective solution with no surprises, always appreciated. Bill is a perfect example of what customer service needs to be in the Plumbing industry while at the customer site, from putting on shoe booties before entering the house to closing with an efficient billing process. We now have an perfect Hot shower and as a customer nothing beats that end result. I would highly recommend Akian's 360 coordinated service as I am a very satisfied customer.

Recently had Akian Plumbing come to our home to replace a broken kitchen faucet.  Stephen, the owner, was great at communicating with us....and always within a very quick timeframe.  The gentleman that came to our home was professional, knowledgable, and nice.  A very positive experience all around!  We would definitely recommend and would use again.

Akian replaced my furnace and hot water tank with a high-efficiency boiler. Steve, the owner, gets personally involved at the front-end as well as inspecting the work as it was progressing. He spent a lot of time talking me through my options and answering my question. I never felt pressured. His team is also very professional with good communication throughout the project. They also use the latest technology to keep things organized and professional (like processing the contract via DocuSign). They are also great when things go wrong. The unit they first installed malfunctioned due to a manufacturing issue. The Akian team was able to secure a replacement unit the next day to finish the job as quickly as possible. The quality of the job was fantastic. Just look at the pictures. It is a piece of art. And they left everything in very clean condition. I would use Akian again.

We had an issue with our boiler (flashing red light) and reached out to Akian as they were close to our house. Scheduling was easy.  Jessica came and diagnosed the problem. She explained the cause (motor fan not working) and provided us with her short-term and longer term recommendations along with the pricing. I like that they are upfront about their pricing.

Jessica is knowledgeable about the boiler system as she was able to answer my questions. We decided to install a new motor fan so she came back a few weeks to do it. There was an issue getting the part but they communicated this with us. Highly recommend Akian and Jessica.

We had some issues with one of the ductwork in our house. Phil was very professional in explaining what might be the cause and some options to solve the issues in the long run. He also helped to improve our ductwork situation for the short term

Great service, good prices.  I broke my shower trying to fix a leak, and they were willing to send someone immediately to fix it.  They were up front about the cost difference though, and recommended waiting until the next day to avoid emergency prices.  What I expected to be a large job involving ripping out my wall to replace the broken valve turned into a 20 minute job.

The plumber really knew what he was doing and came prepared with the specific tools he would need to switch out all the internal components of the valve (Symmons), without having to take out the old case (which would have required him to remove part of my tiled wall).  He was very friendly and answered all the questions I had.  He even fixed my broken shut-off valve for free after I shut off water to the whole building, so next time that won't be necessary.

In the end I feel like I saved a ton of money and learned a lot!

From an administrative standpoint this business is also very well run.  They're quick to respond with quotes and advice, up front about costs, and handle payment electronically.

I was recommended Akian by a friend who had a great experience with them in Brookline.  The team there is professional, friendly and responsive -- from the person promptly answering emails, to the owner himself. Their quote for a tankless combo unit was right in line with the others I received.  They showed up as promised and worked the entire day into the evening to get the job done.  A month or two later, when I had an issue when using the heat for the first time, they showed up and adjusted it promptly without fuss.  I highly recommend Akian and plan on using them whenever I have a plumbing issue.

Had a terrible experience with Akian. They came out to handle a plumbing issue we had in a ceiling area that was hard to access. They said they'd need to come back the next day to handle it. That visit cost us $300 to assess the issue. They came back the next day and said they'd need to install scaffolding to gain access to the area but they couldn't do it that day. They then went totally cold on us knowing that this issue was preventing 3 units in our building from using their water. We'd call 4 times and get back 1 response saying they were working on it. To hedge our bets we got someone else here, he walked in, and the problem was fixed in an hour for half the price Akian was going to charge. Akian acted with no urgency and tried to rip us off.

Great work and super friendly people working, in the office and in the field, couldn't be happier with everything!  Tara and Naomi were SUPER friendly!  Although they aren't the cheapest, they ARE the best!  I am willing to pay the extra for the AMAZING job they did!!!  If you want a job done perfect and speak with friendly people, this is your place!!

We just moved into a new home in Watertown. Initially we reached out to Akian for plumbing. They were able to send out a plumber very quickly. John looked at our system. He was super helpful and personable. There wasn't too much plumbing work needed but we were looking for HVAC and because of the positive experience we decided to go with Akian again. They were able to fit us in within a week.

In the case of HVAC, we had a new mitsubishi heat pump that was installed by a previous and unreliable contractor. The work ended up unfinished and our heat pump was non-functional. Phil was able to diagnose and fix the problem and we set up a time to finish some remaining unfinished work. Working with fill was a refreshing experience. He was also able to explain the system in plain English including everything that was lacking and solutions he was considering.

The responsiveness/communication is on another level compared to the other contractors we've used. Highly recommend them for any HVAC or plumbing needs.

I needed to disconnect the gas line to my stove. Great communication by technician and receptionist. Technician wore booties and was very clean and conscientious of floors and countertop. They were fast and on time. Very professional and fairly priced!

Can't say because they never responded when I contacted them and had an extensive chat -based inquiry (meaning that there was someone on the other end) and gave them the exact details of a replacement HVAC system that I was putting out to bid. They promised to schedule and follow up with a zoom-based virtual meeting with their installation engineers. Never happened.
Would never move forward with a firm like this - then again - I encountered a few others who were similarly non-responsive.
But did find one that stood behind their bid of a few months earlier and provided photos of prior installs and the representative come on-site (again), was extremely knowledgeable and professional.

Called for help with leaking sink. Someone followed up via text to confirm time and notify me of dispatch fee of 129$. When I asked what the labor fee was I was told that only the engineers can share pricing once they are at my house. This feels like a bizarre and unnecessary lack of transparency... decided to find an alternative

Had a heat pump estimation. They did a great job. They pointed several problems, very helpful.

During heat waves, and winter freezing they are my first call. When companies tell me 1-2 weeks or 3 weeks+ they get to our house when we actually need someone there. They only recommend work that needs to be done. They wear masks, use shoe booties when coming inside, use mobile devices to accept payment and take pictures of my equipment & write down model numbers for future reference. They are my 1st call.

Our radiator had a pipe burst at 7pm on a Sunday night in freezing weather.  Akian's technician was able to call us within 30 minutes and walked us through how to shut off the water over FaceTime, even though we had never been a customer before.  They then came out a few days later to successfully repair the pipe at a reasonable price.  We're very happy to have found a plumbing and heating company we can trust!

George A. at Akian was very professional and reliable.  He removed an old leaky toilet and replaced it.  It was a tough job with old supply lines and drains.  He worked non stop for hours as he was very detailed and diligent.  Then he cleaned the entire bathroom.  A very nice job.  He's also a very nice guy.

On a recent, pipe-burstingly-cold holiday weekend, these guys were the only plumbers in town who would come look at a pipe that was leaky but not burst. They diagnosed the problem (and eased our worries that we had a frozen-pipe time bomb in our walls, waiting to explode when things thawed out), and then came back a few weeks later to fix it. Super-easy to communicate with, on-time and helpful. Fair prices, too.

We hired Akian twice so far for our AC unit and boiler. The reception is very polite and responsive; Jeremy is very knowledgeable and fixed our AC unit when other company can't fix for 3 times!

Super service! I put in for a quote online and Stephen responded quickly. We had two toilets malfunctioning and he sent a plumber out to fix the next day (one was still functioning but barely hanging on). When the plumber arrived he took less time than anticipated and fixed the issues with precision and care. The repairs were done right the first time so we won't have to worry about breaking toilets for at least a while. The toilets are original to the house and 65 years old- they were fixed easily and the job was done well at a good price! I would strongly suggest using Akian for your plumbing needs.

It is very hard to find a good plumber and my husband and I have tried many. We no longer have to search for the best. Steve and his team are amazing. I found them on Yelp and I'm so glad I did. The sewer line in my basement had backed up so they sent someone out but he couldn't help. They referred me to a drain cleaner but then the town took care of it for free. I was charged and they worked really hard to successfully get the charge off my credit card (because it was through Venmo it was complicated). Really responsive and kind.

We had a contractor who screwed up a tub job that consistently have leaking problems. I asked for a quote on yelp and Steven was the first to respond. We received an appointment two days later. Plumber John came and took care of everything immediately. Awesome job! can't rave enough about it. Highly recommend! Definitely asking them to come back for other projects very soon

Bill was a pleasure to work with again. We live on the third floor and Bill didn't seem to mind the stairs at all:).  He saw the problem immediately and had my kitchen up and running again within twenty minutes. I was new to home ownership and had no idea how to fix things and each time I had an emergency they showed up right away to assist and are extremely reliable.

Akian plumbing did a terrific job on my home recently. They were quick to respond to emergencies I have had. In late August, my AC unit broke and I needed a replacement right away as my wife and I have a newborn. Jeremy was very responsive, helpful and professional. He installed a new unit for me within a day after my old unit breaking. I had issues with my furnace most recently and Jeremy did an emergency call for me on a Saturday night. He did a great job on the furnace and made recommendations on service plans as well, which I also purchased. Great quality work, fairly priced, very professional and responsive to customer needs. Akian has gained a customer and will be calling them for future heating, AC or plumbing needs.

We had a leak in our central AC unit and Phil came for an emergency visit at 10pm. He was professional and efficient. he was a pro, he knew what he was doing. He explained each step, every problem he encountered taking videos and pictures of everything he did. He also explained the pricing at each step for all the services and parts making sure we understood and agreed before billing us.

Due to a shortage of skilled plumbers, getting plumbers to even show up is a challenge in 2023. That being said Akian excels at their service, reachability, and getting talented plumbers to show up. Contacting them is effortless and their communication is amazing. They get a grade A for service. I dealt with two of their plumbers, Jess and Uriel. They are both very friendly, professional, and good at their trade. If you need plumbing help ASAP and need someone to call, I would highly recommend Akian. Now the negatives, Akian's prices go above the brink of gun point robbery and Robber Barrons. If you call them, just know you will spend $1000+ for even the most basic or simplest task. I know they are good and could get the job done but I would be petrified to call them if I had a serious plumbing issue because I know their quote would be easily five figures. They returned for the second time to hook up my gas, which was included in the first price I paid, which was north of $1,000. Since they were already here, I figured they could hook up my new kitchen sink, which I had the new faucet, the new piping, and all of the parts. They quoted me $900. Seriously $900 to hook up a kitchen sink with all of the parts. I understand the scarcity of plumbers and the increased prices due to it being a challenge to get a plumber to show up but really $900 to hook up a sink! $500 to do 30 minutes of work would have been unreasonable and insane but $900 is pretty much gunpoint robbery. I obviously just did it myself and got someone to help me for $100. The thing that pains me is the prospect of a single mother only wanting clean water for her kids and getting an outrages quote, such as this. I am all for paying a premium to get quality service and save time but this is just nuts. This pricing model is similar to McDonald's trying to charge someone $250 for a Big Mac. All of this being said, Akian has amazing service, employees amazing people, and does amazing work. If you are willing to pay extreme multiples for the service just to get it done, then definitely call them. But as I stated earlier, I have trepidation in regards to calling them if I had a serious issue because they would probably quote me $9,000 to fix a serious leak or frozen pipe. It would not be good to have to deal with an unreliable plumber who may or may not show up but I would certainly take that chance for a 70% price difference.

I had a tub drain leak into my living room.  On a Sunday.  Not a big emergency but a pain.  Akian was there the next morning.  As I thought, they had to go through my living room ceiling to get to the pipes (bad work by a prior plumber, also as I thought).  They quickly found the issue, showed it to me, and then ripped out the shoddy work and put it back right, this time with brass fittings.  Plus they snaked further down the line to help with a slow drain.  All for what I believe was a very reasonable price.  I'm a big fan.  Fellows that did the work were professional and sensitive about not making a mess.  I will definitely use them again and will recommend them to my neighbors.

This is our second time using Akian. I would definitely recommend them. The company is very organized and professional and setting up an appointment was quick and easy and they had a technician to us within days both times.

I used Akian for the first time to replace the garbage disposer in my kitchen.  I hired them because their price was reasonable.  I am very happy with the way they handled the whole thing.  I will call them again for the next plumbing needs.

Their communication was excellent: they responded to my inquiry promptly and followed up with me by text at each key point.  I was impressed when I received a text on the day of service: it was sent when the tech headed out and included his name and a brief bio.  It's a small thing but turned the faceless tech into a person.

My call was made during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they did a great job following the best practice: wearing the necessary protective gear, which included shoe covers, and minimizing human contact & keeping the safe distance, etc.

So professional and thorough! We've been working with Akian since February when our furnace died.  Akian responded quickly and efficiently installed our furnace.  This spring, they finished the job installing our heat pump so we now have heat and AC.  The heat pump is ridiculously quiet -- so quiet that our condo neighbor said she had to watch the fan to see if it was even on.  My husband and I are type A and had a million questions.  Akian was patient and detailed in answering them all, even ones that required follow-up.  Specifically, we've worked with Jeremy, Bobby, and Brendan.  They have been great.  Also, we feel at peace with them working inside our home during the pandemic.  They wear masks and keep a safe distance.  They clearly lay out their COVID procedures in a text message that you receive shortly before their arrival.  We have hired them for several jobs since and recommend them to our friends.   We're very pleased.

The plumber showed up the first day not knowing why he was there and saying he was told just 30 minutes prior that he needed to stop by my business.  They then quoted me $700 per sink, three sinks total, to install.  All they had to do is connect a p-trap and the hot and cold water hoses.  I had to use them because I needed to open my business the next morning.  They were here from 9:45 to 12:40.  $2,100 for three hours of work!  One guy was a plumber but the second guy was unsure of what he was doing and needed the other guy to help him out.  Then they had the audacity to charge me $800 for a permit.  Would not recommend these price gougers.

Quality, quality, quality! The technicians are EXCELLENT! Shout out to James who did my initial consultation. He figured out the problem, documented the issue thoroughly, and provided recommendations. I learned so much from James and greatly appreciate the time he took to review everything with me and make me comfortable with the work. He also walked me through the quote process where he showed me the different options. It is a little pricy but worth it to know you are getting work done correctly, no short cuts. For the fix I got Donnele and George P. Both extremely professional and hard working. They did a great job with fixing the issue and making sure it was all done correctly so I really appreciate their hard work!! Lastly Aizza in the office is wonderful. She is patient, understanding, and very helpful with scheduling. Keep up the great business. I will be back for more when I need my water heater and HVAC! Thank you!

I've been using Akian for years and my experience with them has always been great.  I had an issue with my heating system and they got out here the very next day even though I reached out to them on a Sunday.  Phil came out to look at my heater and he was knowledgeable and professional. He took the time to explain what went wrong with the unit and my best options for addressing the issue.  Phil and the rest of the Akian team members I have dealt with are always friendly, professional and really take the time to make sure all my questions and concerns are fully addressed.  I wouldn't use anyone else.

Phil and Dom saved the day! We had scheduled just a yearly maintenance check of an older AC system, and on the day they arrived, we opened the closet to find the system leaking under the floor.... what was supposed to be a quick check, turned into an emergency which took much of the day to remedy.  They were SO helpful and knowledgeable and efficient!  Took the time to communicate separately with my husband and I on all the details so we fully understood. After waiting 2 weeks for the plumbers my landlady suggested to NOT call me back, I took matters into my own hands and called Akian. I received a near immediate response back via text, with instructions on how to fix the issue myself. No charge. Wow! I'm super impressed, and told my landlady to stop dealing with these other jokers who can't even be bothered to return a phone call. Now I'm telling you. This guy is the real deal and I'll be calling them for any plumbing needs down the line. 100% recommended!

Took care of the problem super quickly, and kept me informed all along the way. Everyone at Akian was friendly and easy going, and answered all my questions with clarity. Reading the reviews, I wondered if this company would live up to the hype...I am happy to report they did! This would have been a 5 star review but for a few hiccups in scheduling, follow up and my technician was not in covered booties (but dirty sneakers) while repairing my bathroom. Sure, I'm being a bit picky. 2 other plumbing co's that I met with failed to have a plan for my issue- Akian had a plan and resolved my issue. For that, I will refer and use them again if needed
(but hopefully in a non-emergency situation;)).

I needed help to service a leak in my bathroom, along with other small rectification work since it is an old property. Stephen gave me a fair quote, and was able to help schedule a time within the same week. The technician John was professional and courteous. Turns out that some of the rectifications I asked for weren't needed and I ended up with a smaller bill than my original estimate. Good honest plumbers, will definitely be using them again when I need help in future.

Phil and Evan came out the house and did an amazing job getting the heat up and running. Gave us a new thermostat and diagnosed some other plumbing issues we were having as well. Nice job!

Recommendation! ........So this week has been a comedy or errors. First, the toilet seat cracked. Then, the toilet seat couldn't be removed through regular and irregular(hacksaw to the bolts, anyone?) Then, called plumber and toilet was no longer being made so had to hunt around for both special bolts and a special tool to extract bolts. Then their distributor gave them the wrong ones. Then they realized the cost of them replacing the lid to our toilet was not much less than getting a new toilet. So three cheers for our unexpected new toilet (we'll call her Dr. Toilet). Mad shout out to Akian Plumbing in Watertown. Other plumbers would have blown us off mid process bc it was too complicated. They texted me with updates, walked me through all choices, were reasonably priced, were kind and polite, and most importantly, SHOWED UP ON TIME. They have earned my business..if you need plumbing help, they will earn yours, too.

Stephen was very responsive to my inquiry, keep in mind that great plumbers in high demand and these guys are worth waiting for.

Grigor & Thiago showed up within the timeframe I was given by Steve, and Steve actually kept me posted along the way.

They were ready to go on the clogged toilet I had called about and that job seemed like a breeze. Grigor has a way of explaining things without sounding condescending to a non-plumber and I truly appreciate that.  He tried to show me that my garbage disposal could be fixed rather than replaced.

As they were wrapping up, Thiago noticed a leak coming from my upstairs bathroom that I didn't even realize I had, it was luck on my part that they were there and saw it before it caused more damage. After I asked them if they could fix that one too, it was fixed in no time.

I can rest easier knowing that I have reliable plumbers on call should I need one. Thanks guys!

We had water leak in our basement and called Akian. The team arrived within an hour. Uriel was very professional and knew what he was doing. He explained everything clearly and asked if there is anything else he could help us with. He cleaned the pipe,and leak stopped right away. I would call Akian again if I need a plumber and ask for him if he is available!

This review is long overdue. I've used Akian for several plumbing calls and each time they have met or exceeded my expectations.

When we moved into our new home in Newton, their team came out to help temporarily remove some radiators so that we could do some work to the walls behind them.

When our rental properties in Watertown had issues pop up (water heaters that had reached their end of life, leaky shower faucets, etc.) they ALWAYS responded very quickly.

If there are ever any issues...they are the ones that I trust to address them.

Tech Phil is kind, knowledgeable, savvy and spoke highly of his experience with Akian Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning. However,  I am compelled to report to future customers that although I appreciated the new customer discount & happily agreed to pay the dispatch fee upon Phil's immediate arrival, I would have appreciated knowing up front of their existing company policy that excludes my R-22 cooling system. New customers beware: After paying the upfront dispatch fee, the Akian tech will not disclose anything until you pay more. In my case, after already looking at the air-handler in the attic to determine what system I had, I was then asked to pay an additional fee to continue. I would have appreciated if Phil was upfront with me about their policy before collecting another fee. I should not have been asked to pay the fee before telling me they will not repair my system anyway. ($99 + $199 - $50 =  a 248 dollar waste of time & money - not to mention a bad business model) I did appreciate that Phil agreed to replace a leaky valve in the system. Thank you Phil. DAW

I hired Akian to replace my forced air gas furnace. The team did a fantastic job and didn't stop until the job was done. I found each member of the team courteous and professional, and the finished product was state of the art and efficient. I would hire them again for future jobs, small or large.

10 stars!! Top notch service at a great price!  I used the Request a Quote option on Yelp and got a few responses. Got a garbage disposal replacement quoted 400 dollars less than my usual plumber.  Did everything over Yelp messages which is handy cause I prefer that over phone tag.  I got a first appointment timeframe at 8 am the plumber showed up shortly thereafter and replaced my disposal and then took the old gross one with him! Whole thing took less than 20 minutes!  I'll definitely be using these guys again for sure! Thanks guys!!!  Why can't all repair people be this honest and organized?

My heat went out in the middle of the night. I left a message for Akian and they showed up in a timely manner and got it fixed! Efficient, Friendly, Professional!  I would definitely refer Akian to anyone!

Plumbing: Called in Akian for their plumbing services, an issue with my boiler. Bill came out on a Friday to look it over. Turns out new piping was needed to run it safely, a bigger job which needed to be scheduled the following week. But Bill went out of his way to make some fixes to get me through the cold weekend. He went over and above!

Heating and AC:  Phil and Zach got my mini-split system up and running after a lot of troubleshooting. Thanks guys!

Akian is amazing!!! They have helped us with a water heater replacement, plumbing needs, and HVAC/AC maintenance. It is super easy to book an appointment and communicate via text. Meg response very promptly even after hours. She is always friendly and willing to advise! All of the technicians have been very knowledgeable, polite, patient and trustworthy! They give their honest opinion of the circumstance and go above and beyond on each job. They frequently give tips on how maintain and extend the life of my units. I can't recommend them enough and will definitely continue using them in the future!

One of the our pipes had starting leaking at night and sent a message to them via yelp. Steve was very responsive in getting back and was able to send Mark over the next morning. Mark assessed the situation and was able to fix it up so we could get hot water again. Did great work and would likely go with them again for future plumbing issues!

I would recommend Akian Plumbing & Home Services to anyone with plumbing issues. We got an old toilet which had been repaired last October when we noticed there was water coming out around the base and water dripped to the neighbor's downstairs. The plumber came and replaced the wax ring. The problem seems solved then. Now, after less than a year, the same toilet was wobbling and we were worried that the same issue might come again. We checked Yelp and luckily we found Akian Plumbing. We contact Akian Plumbing via Facebook and got response immediately and that's a weekend around 9:30 pm. And the appointment was set on Monday afternoon. The company was so accommodating as I had to take my dog out for 20 minutes so they sent another plumber to my apartment after I came home. Bill came as soon as he can. He removed the toilet and it turned out a bolt was broken and that made the toilet wobbling. He  fixed the toilet in less than 20 minutes. The process was so smooth and we felt the toilet is secured now.  Prompt response, polite worker, and reasonable charge. This is the best interaction we have had with a home service company.

Great experience. Called back right away and was quick to set up a time to check a leak at my home. The plumber was courteous and knowledgeable. After his 8 point inspection it turned out the leak was not found with the plumbing but from loose tile grout. I would recommend Akian plumbing.

This company appears to operate solely to sell expensive, and likely unnecessary, system overhauls.

Several weeks ago I called to have a faucet replaced and a sink stopper replaced. The plumbing folks showed up and spoke with my husband, who was very busy in the middle of meetings, about how our system (which has worked great for over 15 years) needed major changes and pressured him into putting down a deposit of $1,000 for a multi-thousand project. They did not replace the faucet (which I had ready to install), and they did not replace the sink stopper. When I got home I balked, called the company for a refund and hired another company, which completed both jobs for $300. All works great.

We decided to give their air conditioning service unit a try. (I made this decision based upon their relatively high reviews, which my husband reminded me companies often pay for.)

Over three weeks ago I scheduled an appointment for today, which was the earliest appointment available, to have our air conditioning units maintained. In the past this has meant a very simple hour or two appointment to replace the filters, clean the unit, replace freon, etc. Again, a suave businessman showed up, did no work whatsoever, but had lots of urgent suggestions about how our entire system needs a large and a multi-thousand-dollar overhaul.

I will not be using this company again.

Not satisfied with the service - the one star is for the actual water heater replacement which was fine. First, it's super expensive. To replace a 40 gal water heater, we were offered gold, silver, bronze, and economy options. We chose economy option which turned out to be $1929.
The aftermath: They left the clothes dryer in the utility room out of position without moving it back. They had turn the other (the operational one that was not replaced) water heater dial to vac but didn't turn it back to normal, leading to lack of hot water for our unit, until we discovered this and turned it back on. Finally, they had disconnected the drain hose from the washer but failed to reconnect it upon leaving, causing water all over the basement. This wasn't a hose that can be accidentally dislodged - it was disconnected on purpose by the plumber but was not reconnected upon leaving. Amazingly, the 2nd plumber who responded to our complaint didn't even check this and instead spent time looking at our sump pump, drainpipes, etc. We were actually the ones who discovered the source of the water after he left!
A small drip from an upstairs bathroom needed the wax ring replaced and toilet reset ($249). This toilet that was rewaxed and reseated still has a drip that I can hear.
There were 2 blue latex gloves discarded right in the middle of our driveway after the truck left. Don't recommend.
