My reasoning for giving this company one is because they aren't very responsive, aren't efficient, and frankly they lack empathy. When they first came to our home, they were just supposed to clear a clog but ended up breaking a pipe or something in our basement. Because of that, we are unable to use our kitchen sink and it's been about a week. We had to call them multiple times a day without response but our sink was still broken. I don't think they understand that we're still living here and need our sink because they just don't move quickly. When they finally did come to the house on a Friday, they said they didn't have the right snake and needed to come back Monday! BS! I'd suggest getting a different plumber!

They charged a service fee to come and take pictures of our toilet with a cell phone, then lied to our home warranty about how it happened so they could deny us service. If they needed pictures we could have sent them. Companies who can't do business honestly shouldn't be in business, don't give them yours.

Arrived on time, one of my only options from AHS home warranty. Looked at my sump pump, which I was already told by 2 contractors and roto-rooter that it should be replaced as there were 2 pumps in the pit, one pump was not functional, there were cords, a ball point pen (lol). We just purchased this house and the sump was inspected for functionality prior to purchase....but our basement flooded after it malfunctioned in the last big storm, so that's super fun.

Anyway he looked at it, assessed it as fine and left. We promptly called rotor rooter to come back. Worth their price and overhead to have the peace of mind that my basement isn't going to flood again from malfunction sump. Will continue to search for a decent plumber to do our regular work.

They are a terrible company that does not stand by there word. They stated that we had baby wipes in our drains and i have no babies. They stated they needed a longer snake and would be back , for me to get a call to state that for them to come back it would cost up to $690 dollars. These people are lazy and do not want to work. I had to call AHS and tell them never send to my house again. They need to be out of business. They not completing any work anyway. BTW this is the second time I had an encounter with this company. Never again.

Jeremiah had to come to my house multiple times due to American Home Shield fighting me over coverage. He was patient and polite each time. During the last visit, he fixed the issue, showed me what he did and how to operate the new equipment. I definitely recommend Mayes Plumbing.

This company is absolutely incompetent and lacking of professionalism! We had one of their employees visit to fix a leaking faucet in the kitchen which clearly was reflecting water dripping from the faucet onto the counter down to a bucket under the sink. However the plumber from this company stated he could not find the issue. Without my (owner) authorization, He continued to the basement area and cut a hole in the ceiling... stated he needed to see the piping so he can find the leak from the ceiling of the basement. After cutting a hole in the ceiling he still did not find anything and the problem still exist after he leaves. Water still pooling on the counter near the faucet and still clearly visibly leaking into a bucket under the sink in the kitchen. Hey extremely incompetent and so unprofessional. Spoke with the office manager and they are just as incompetent and unprofessional as the staff! Do NOT use this company. STAY AWAY!!

2nd opinion Competent Plumbing company on site within 24 hours and find the issue within the first three minutes. Again stay away from this company!

I would give this company a 0 out of 5 if possible. Like other reviewers, my home warranty company sent this scam of a company out to fix a leak stemming from my tub. The plumber cut out a portion of my ceiling and said my waste and overflow was corroded and needed to be replaced -- $475. I didn't get a good vibe from this guy, as he told me the warranty wouldn't cover it because it was faulty installation -- umm, you just told me something else. He never even set foot in the bathroom. I had another plumber come out and he just needed to re-putty the tub drain -- $60. He said you couldn't even see the waste and overflow drain where the Mayes plumber had cut out the ceiling and come to find out, it was plastic -- can't be corroded! HORRIBLE COMPANY. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Please do not use this company! American Home Shield had this company come to my house to unclog/repair my garbage disposal.

Roman arrived to my house, while I was working. It was raining hard outside. He tracked dirt all in my house. Within five minutes, he stated he would have to call his company later today. I asked what does that mean. What is the issue, since he did not look at anything. He said there is plastic in your garbage disposal.

I had some plastic forks on the counter, so I think he just wanted to use that as an excuse. However, he did not work.

I called the company and spoke to a Kathleen, that claims she is the office manager. She said the Technician said there is plastic in the garbage disposal and there was nothing they would do. She said American Home Shield won't pay for it. She was very unprofessional and I'm not sure how she's the office manager. Don't use them!

I called Roto-Rooter. They came and looked at the garbage disposal. They immediately told me there is no way another company could have looked at my garbage disposal in five minutes. They could tell C Mayes Plumbing and Heating had not looked at it.

They gave me a quote and finished the job. The Technician from Roto-Rooter said there was grease and eggs stuck in the garbage disposal. They removed it and showed me. There was no plastic, as C Mayes Plumbing and Heating told me.

This company are liars and they just want revenue without doing basic processes.

Do not use them!!! Do nit use them!!! Do not use them!!! They only want your money!!!

I requested a repair of a minor leaking kitchen faucet and toilet on June 2, 2021. Mayes plumbing was the contractor assigned by American Home Shield to do the work. They came and repaired the toilet; however, I was told that my kitchen faucet needed a part and that they would get the part and return to complete the job. They never followed up or returned to repair the faucet.
On March 3, 2022, I requested a repair of a bathroom faucet, toilet, and the previously mentioned kitchen faucet.

Regarding the bathroom faucet, the tech informed me that there was a clog therefore, the facet had to be replaced which would cost $395 out of pocket. Fortunately, I have a friend in NYC who is a real plumber and without being present, told me to check the hot water valve, ironically it worked. That is padding an invoice by definition.

Regarding the kitchen faucet, keep in mind there was only a minor leak, if you centered the handle, the leak stopped. Once he was finished with his diagnostics the faucet had been totally broken and the handle torn off; no water at all. To add insult to injury, he had the nerve to ask me if I use this faucet.

I have not had water in my kitchen since March 8, 2022, Additionally, all I got from their rude customer service rep was a message informing me that they were going to replace the faucet that they broke which is a Kohler faucet, with a Quattron faucet, like I was supposed to be thrilled, are you kidding me.

I spoke to American Home Shield about the issue and their response was they are not responsible for damages by a contractor, in other words, if a contractor is sent by them to repair any item, they are not responsible if the contractor breaks it; really.

If you are an American Home Shield member and need a plumbing repair under no circumstances allow Mayes Plumbing in your home, I find them to be rude, incompetent, and extremely unethical.

If I could give them a minus one thousand (-1,000) I would.

Another day another issue.  My sump pump was acting a little under the weather.  Well my boys Micah and Tony from Mayes Plumbing nursed my sump pump back to health.   It's hard finding a good plumber company but Mayes is the best I've come across.  Their plumbers are professional and get the job done right.

I would have given 0 stars if it were possible. I have had a problem everytime I have had to deal with them due to a warranty contract. I'm not even going to get into the details. That would take too long. But suffice to say, this company is deceitful, they lie, and employ very rude support staff. If you are absolutely forced to work with them and a young slender kid in his 20's shows up, slam the door in his face. He will saunter in and spend 5 minutes looking at the problem and 'determine' the diagnosis. This kid should have his license revoked. IF he even has one. He did this to me, then NEVER submitted the paperwork to AHS.Tell AHS you do not want to work with them and AHS is required to find another contractor.

Well...the Owner called me back to resolve the issue and he was exceptional in his response to my concerns and made every effort to address them. They were all addressed and the only reason I am giving them 4 versus 5 stars is because of the mishap that happened, not due to work.

Original..... This company contracts with American Home Shield and is absolutely horrible. We scheduled through AHS to have 3 plumbing issues resolved. When Mays plumbing called us to schedule they informed us that they would only be doing one issue because that is what was given to them from AHS. I contacted AHS and they shared the report that was sent to Mayes Plumbing and it was for 3 issues. I called Mayes and shared with them the report form AHS and they still denied it. AHS called to call them back.  During my call I also requested a 30 minute call prior to the tech arriving since the tenant who works 15 minutes away would need to leave work. The receptionist said that would be fine. On Tuesday April 25th the tech called me at exactly 2 minute and 33 seconds prior to arrival. I called Mayes upset that I didn't get the 30 minutes I requested and they stated they didn't have to give us 30 minutes. I shared that the 30 minutes was made available to me during my call last Thursday. She denied it. They stated that it was our responsibility to sit and wait 6 hours during a work week for someone to show. SIX HOUR WINDOW...who does that?
The tech left and did not wait the 15 minutes for the tenant and the bill cost us $125 which they said we would have to pay again if we wanted them to come back out. Well that leaves me here; making to review and dispute with my bank and a review for the BBB.

This company sucks!!!!! and their office staff and management are horrific. .

very disappointed in the way business is conducted with these plumbers. Seemed a little unethical to charge before starting the work. Came in , and told me , before starting any work, they needed 100% of the money up front.
Especially having conducted business with me before, truly disappointed.

We have insurance from American Home SHield and they contracted this business for our plumbing issue. The first time they came, they just tightened fittings on the pipe. The leak just got worse. The second time they came, they replaced some pipes on my 1st bathroom, the leak is much worse. In my 2nd bathroom, they cut a piece of the pipe and replaced it, the pipe and fittings were not properly installed, it was sideways and the leak was also much worse. The 3rd time they came, they again tightened the fitting in the 1st bathroom, popping out the vanity from where it was sitting on the wall.  They report to AHS that we need to replace the vanity and that they will charge us $325 for removal and installation of the new vanity. WHAT??? These people are crooks, they pretend to fix the issue but they damage your item so you can pay them for labor. I don't think so. Beware of this business!!

I hope the owner reads these reviews. He needs to realize that his business will be run to the ground by his staff unless he steps up and takes this seriously. I have a leaking faucet and AHS assigned the work to this company. A week later and I still do not have a replacement faucet on order. I call the place every day, some days twice, and every time I hear that they are sending a faucet approval link momentarily. They sent a link once, for a faucet that is not the right size, I responded within minutes with a faucet from the same company and within same price range, and immediately called with a follow up. Same story - they are reviewing and will send a link for approval momentarily. This was on Wednesday. Two days and two calls later, still no result. I do not have water in the kitchen for a week now. I will call AHS on Monday requesting a reassignment. I also saw few complains on BBB, and I felt strongly enough to follow the lead. I generally leave positive reviews, and if I have nothing positive to say, I simply do not leave a review. With this company, I had to leave a negative review. Extremely poor run company. Nor fair to your customers and to the few good employees that you have.

I was assigned this company through my home warranty company AHS. I was a little upset that they were not able to come immediately since the service was expedited! Anywho, the plumbers (Bobby & Jason) came out within 48 hours of the call into AHS. They called 30 minutes before they came out and they definitely came within the estimated window 10-3! They were very funny. Great customer service! Fixed the issue which was a cartridge and pin behind the tub's faucet. I was very pleased with the plumbers! The scheduling by the company's dispatcher can be improved though!

C. Mayes' plumbers, Tony & Jeremiah were excellent to work with. They arrived on time and both introduced themselves. I thought that was a nice touch.  I was pleased to find it was a minor problem with the toilet water line.  The line was repaired quickly and they were on their way. I highly recommend C. Mayes Plumber, Tony & Jeremiah.

We had some water in our basement bathroom and suspected a toilet  or leak or back-up.  Mayes was the contractor chosen by our home warranty company to take a look at it.  The guy came out, flushed the toilet a few times and said it was either the shower pan or foundation leaking.  I got home and sprayed the shower head in the joint and there was no leak.  From when we noticed the most water it had not rained in 4 days so it wasn't the foundation.  Later that night we got soap suds up through the toilet.  It is clear that we have a slow drain/back-up.  If this guy had spent more than 5 minutes on the problem that would have been clear.

Too bad for all the bad reviews. The two plumbers who resolved my plumbing issue (Tony and Kyle)did so quickly and professionally. They called thirty minutes ahead of showing up, well within the time frame quoted. Catherine was a breeze to work with scheduling the appointment, which was also nice. I would call Mayes plumbing again if I knew the same team was going to provide the service.

The Home Warranty Company sent me this company to service my issue.  The guy wasn't in the house more than 6 minutes when he presented an estimate north of 5 hundred dollars.  He started the old code requirements this, upgrades needed for that.  He got my service fee.  I Blame the warranty company.  I think this will cause me to drop them.  I guess that's what these Jack leg companies are doing now.  They're like buzzards.  IF they can't sucker you into a high dollar job, they at least have a few dollars short of a $100 for gas and admin fees.  I would run fast when you here this company is assigned to you.  This is why I love yelp.  We the suckers' to these price gouging companies have a way of trying to save the next woman/man from a waist of time & money.

ZERO stars is what this company deserves!  I am a Realtor and my home warranty company sent this company out.  NEVER will I recommend this particular home warranty company again and you can be sure if I will be sure to tell everyone my experience with this company to be sure nobody has to go through the same thing I did.  If only they had fessed up and fixed their mistakes!  That would have at least let me walk away thinking they have some sort of dignity.  TERRIBLE doesn't even begin to explain the work this company did.  I know what good work is and I know what it means to correct something if you are wrong.  This company will deny, deny, deny! They will deny what they have done as they have now actually made the issue even worse than it was before!  DO NOT EVER use this company!  The other plumbing contractors I have showed what this company did to fix the issue to cannot believe what this company did!  This is the first time I have ever written a review and I really did not want to have to do so but when you are put in a worse off situation and the company denies what they 1000% did and refuse to fix it, I had no choice.

I have insurance through American Home Shield and they had C. Mayes Plumbing come out to fix my ejector pump in the basement.  Jason and Bobby did some troubleshooting and determined it was definitely the pump.  The office was flexible and worked with my work schedule to get the guys back out to the house to replace the pump.  They showed up within time slot and got to work.  They went above and beyond, not only replacing the pump but fixed another issue.  Without them, I'd still be bailing water out of my sink with buckets! Highly recommend their services.  Cordial, professional, and efficient!

Unfortunately, I have to revise my review of C Mayes Plumbing & Heating. My gas water heater stopped producing hot water, the control panel on it was locked out. Mayes was assigned to me via American Home Shield. They immediately came out to diagnose and service my unit or so I thought. The technician looked at my unit for all of 15 minutes and stated I needed a replacement unit. I was quoted an out of pocket fee of $2K+. I researched and called another company to come out and quote me a price for replacement and guess what?! The other company's technician was able to get my water heater back producing hot water! This technician actually took the time to diagnose the issue and to do the research needed to fix it.

Like other reviewers stated, shame on Mayes for trying to unnecessarily have customers replace their water heater and/or up-charge.

I'm giving two stars only because of my previous review and experience with them.

Mayes Plumbin and heating was dispatched by America Home Shield to repair the draining leak in the kitchen . Leaking repaired and water is not draining.  America Home Shield recalled them and they refused claiming it is not the same issue. I did not have draining problem before. If I did have, I should just add it to the same service request since it shouldn't cause me any additional penny. They have caused secondary damage while repairing the draining leak and refused to take responsibility.  This is unprofessional.  Never accept service from this company. They are also very rude.

I was assigned this company by American Home Shield twice. The first problem was a leak in the bathroom faucet. It took three visits by two different technicians to fix the problem. Each visit the technician said the problem was fixed and it wasn't. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the faucet has been repaired. The second problem was my toilet constantly running. The first visit, the same technician that tried the first and third time to fix the faucet, the technician said 2 of 3 flappers needed to be replaced. He replaced them and said the problem was fixed. It wasn't. The toilet continues to run. I called American Home Shield and requested a different company or I will cancel my contract. They sent another company and this technician said the fill valves were broken. He also said that he third flapper was not working. He replaced the 3 fill valves and the third flapper. So far his changes seemed to have worked. I will not accept T Mayes as a contractor for future needs. They are polite and timely, but lack appropriate diagnostic skills.

Mayes plumbing was assigned to replace the hot water heater at my rental property. When the plumber came out they informed me that I would need to have a chimney company come out to confirm that the chimney was up to code. I had never experienced something like this before, but they alleged that there  were some new building code requirements and before replacing the heater they would have to get a confirmation that everything was good with the chimney. Conveniently they suggested that I contact Priddy Chimney Sweeps and provide a discount code for them to take a look at the chimney. I thought this whole thing was strange since I've had water heaters replaced at other properties without the involvement of chimney companies, but I didn't have time to confirm whether their allegation that this was a new code requirement was true. I contact Priddy and they inform me that I should send them pictures so they can diagnose whether the chimney is up to code. I send a ton of pictures over the course of two days and they finally tell me that I will have to have all of this work done ($2200) to the chimney before the heater can be installed.

Imagine my shock when I receive this estimate. My suspicion grows even more and I get concerned that these folks are trying to scam me. At this point, I do what I should have done and send a chimney company that We have used before to the property to take a look. Low and behold, the second chimney company says the chimney is up to code and properly lined and only charges me $195. After I receive this information I call Mayes back to register my frustration and concern regarding this entire situation. The supervisor I spoke to tells me that Mayes will not accept the confirmation of the chimney company that I used because they didn't give them a proper invoice with pictures!! She went on to tell me that Priddy provides pictures and a detailed description of the work that they will perform. So unless she was able to tally to my chimney company to confirm that the chimney was up to code they wouldn't proceed.

Keep in mind, it's been at least a week that the tenant has been without hot water, so this further delay is extremely frustrating. At this point, I decide to call my warranty company and report Mayes and ask that another company be assigned. As a result, the hot water heater was replaced the next day without incident by another company. I'm still pissed that I had to pay $195 for something that was a non-factor, but imagine if I had gone along with their scheme with Priddy Chimney Sweeps! I would be out over $2200!! Proceed with extreme caution with Mayes and Priddy because something is not right here!!

This company is a joke. They send a non experience tech out. I told them there was a water stain in kitchen. We figured it was come from shower. Just needed some caulking. He took a pic and that was it. 4 min at property I notice a water leak instead of fixing it. He tried to say nothing was wrong. I asked him do he see a wet spot. He said no. I touch it and the drywall was soak. You can see that it was wet and drywall soft So I was going to video record and send it to American home shield. Then he said he couldn't fix it because I have to put in another request. So he rather let my ceiling collapse. Instead calling his company and saying the leak was 4 ft away from the water stain in kitchen. He just didn't want to it. They are the worst plumber company. It's been 7 days and they still haven't responded. Save your time and your property from being damage. Even American home shield says this company gets a lot of compliments. Also notice when you look at their reviews Google, Angie list etc. This company will only respond to 5 star reviews which is few. But in all the other reviews they try and make the customer out as being wrong. This company has a terrible bbb F rating and horrible reviews for a reason trust me. Do not use this company

If I could give this guy ZERO STARS I could. Long story short, this man cheated us out of good money, dirtied our house, lied to AHS... twice, and did NOTHING. If you want to hear more, read on...

We had a pipe bust in our bathroom and called American Home Shield (AHS) to come and fix it. The Mayes Plumbing fellow they sent showed up smelling and looking as if he hadn't showered for a month. It was raining outside, and he refused to wipe his muddy boots on the towel we had at our front door, so he sopped up mud and water all the way to the job site.

I would be ok overlooking these things if he had done the work properly, but he took one look at the problem, removed a broken piece of pipe, demanded the deductible in cash, and left. He could have thrown the pipe in the trash, but instead, he chucked it into our front yard.

Before he left, he told us that we would have to pay him for the entire job if we asked him to do it -- essentially bypassing AHS which is the only reason we would have stooped to his low level of service to begin with. We later learned from AHS that he had lied about the entire problem so that it wouldn't be covered. Complaining to AHS, of course, led nowhere.

So all that would have been a problem, but then a few weeks later we get a bill for the deductible (which we already paid IN CASH). By this point I had cancelled AHS, fixed the problem myself, and called AHS to tell them that I had paid this poor excuse for a plumber in cash.

If AHS comes after me for this money, I will refuse to pay and plan to take it up with the better business bureau, the fraud department of my credit card (since AHS is thankfully paid by credit card) and, if necessary an elected official. Working people have enough problems on their hands, the last thing they need is a fraudulent non-plumber coming and taking their hard earned money.

The C.Mayes plumber that came to my house fixed my leaking hot water pipe correctly by replacing it and not putting a piece of rubber and a clamp over the leak like previous plumbers to my home have. They worked with me and were able to come on a Saturday. They were quick as well. Sadly, I had to use C. Mayes plumbing again today 5/12/15. I say sadly because who wants to need a plumber. But if you do need one C. Mayes plumbing is the business to seek, Tony came out today and he was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and I had a lot. He fixed my leak.

I had good experience. I am an American Home Shield customer.  Jason from C MAYES PLUMBING & HEATING came when scheduled.  The main control on my hot water heater went out.  Jason tried to keep the thing a going and we had one more night of hot water but the main control gave up the ghost.  Jason tried to coach me through it to see if could get it lit again.  The neat thing was that he was on the phone and could not take my phone call because he was on the phone with the hot water heater company to make sure we received the right part.  Brenda who scheduled my appointment called me to let me know the reason why Jason could not take my call.

Jason had the hot water heater company send the new part to the house and as soon as the part was received, an appointment was made.  Jason came again on time and installed the new main control and we had hot water again.  Brenda was joy to work with.  Taking the extra step to call me because Jason could not take my call was quite the surprise.

Jason even texted with me after 5 to make sure I understood what was going on after the first appointment.  After the part was installed on the second appointment we even had a text conversation to make sure everything was alright.  MAYES does accept cash or credit cards or will let you pay through American Home Shield.

The house that Jason came to is a tenant occupied property.  I was not there and have never met Jason or Brenda in person.  Jason was nice and respectful to my tenant and understood what duress it put the family under, especially since it was winter.  I appreciated the open communication.  I hope I never have another plumbing problem again and have use a plumber but if I do I hope I have Jason and Brenda with me to help fix the problem.

A plumbing technician came and left because he doesn't have the proper material.  He didn't came back after two weeks.   On October 15, 2018, the technician finally came and repair my leaking pipe and he patch with rubbers connecting to the other pipes.  Two days a water is start to leak again and the third day a major water leak and flooded my family room.  I called AHS to send back their technician.  This is a very poor troubleshooting.   I am not going to recommend this plumber.

Do not go near this company. I called them on October 8, per my American Home Sheild home warranty because I had no hot water.  They came out on 10/10 to light pilot light. Pilot light went out. I called back and they said they needed to order a new igniter. The part arrived on 10/17, they came to install it on 10/18. Pilot light went out. Got run around and was told that AHS was waiting for diagnosis , from plumbing tech before new hot water heater could be ordered and that it would most likely be another WEEK before it could be installed. Friday PM, 10/19, 5pm, still no diagnosis given to AHS. Also, plumber told me HWH had to come from AHS warehouse and shipped to shop, and then brought to my house for installation. When I spoke to AHS, they stated that plumber was to pick out HWH and that he had control of where it came from. It's been a nightmare, and it's 13 days later with no hot water!
I have given up and called Caton Plumbing ans they are coming out TODAY ! C Mayes is not interested in helping you get your plumbing needs met. They are also rude on the phone. The only decent person I dealt with was Jeremiah, the tech, but he delayed getting the diagnosis to AHS, so I praise him with a grain of salt.

So this is the service company that is associated with my home warranty company AHS. Whenever they are sent out to do service for plumbing, I can guarantee that the issue will not get resolved by them and then I have to call AHS and get a different company assigned. I always get the same technician who always arrives at my door empty handed with not even a tool box. His goal is to get in and out as quickly as possible and do no work . So he spends the short time trying always to convince me that whatever is the issue is my fault and not faulty equipment. This company is a sham made up of unskilled plumbers who are lazy and do shoddy work if at all. If they show up for your AHS appointment, you can be assured nothing will get resolved .

FINALLY my garbage disposal is fixed.

Incompetent, arrogant Mayes company failed to fix it twice, was rude, dishonest, and disrespectful all around (BRITTANY ESPECIALLY). After taking two days off and still having a broken disposal, I finally had  a positive experience with another company and I once again have a working disposal, two weeks later.

I'm attaching pictures of the old, rusted parts that Mayes failed to replace BOTH times they were here (10 minutes each time, after I spent all day home from work waiting for them twice). See the pictures below the original review. I guess that's what happens when you don't care about the quality of your work. At least I can take comfort in knowing that the Home Warranty Company is reviewing the situation and will hopefully not send the MAYES company out on any additional jobs.

Oh, and by the way, the owners response to my original review is filled with inaccuracies.

What a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!  Save yourself the grief and use another company.
----------------------------------------------------

Run as fast as you can!  If i could assign negative 5 stars, I would. I have never in my life had a worse experience with ANY company, providing any service, anywhere. They are incompetent, rude, and corrupt.

I've already taken two days off work for them to come fix the same problem with my garbage disposal leaking, and it's still leaking. Then they wanted me to take a third day off for them to come fix it again. I explained that my home warranty company had informed me that Mayes would have to accommodate my scheduling needs, since this was the third time they would be coming out to fix the same issue, but their receptionist, Brittany, refused to do so. She insisted that they could only give me another six hour window, two days in the future, to fix their shoddy workmanship for which they have already been paid and for which they have already been given a second opportunity to correct their mistake.

When my home warranty company called Mayes to try and resolve the issue, Brittany told them the problem was my faucet (not covered), and that the garbage disposal is fine. Well,  it's not. It's leaking from the connection with the drain, nowhere near the faucet. Funny, it doesn't leak at all when I use the side of the sink that doesn't have a disposal.

Now I have spent several hours on hold with the warranty company over two days, and I still don't have a working garbage disposal. The first time Mayes came, they put in a new disposal. The second time they came, it was not locked in all the way, according to the invoice. Now, it's leaking again from where the disposal connects to the drain. It's been over a week since our first phone call to schedule the repair, and it's still not right.

Whatever you do, do NOT use this company, and if you must, DONOT LET BRITTANY handle your scheduling. She is rude, arrogant, and dishonest, and unwilling to work with the customer to achieve a satisfactory result.

I haven't had a worse experience with customer service in years after speaking with Mayes. These guys were the chosen one by American home shield which is just as bad when it comes to choosing a vendor for you. I called over 2 weeks ago to tell them i had a problem with the water heater. i get it that i called around thanksgiving, and so they may have been either busy or in the holiday season. However, no one called (though they say they did) Until i called them on the 3rd Dec almost 10 days after my request. The lady claimed she called 2 number's left voice messages. She even claims she called on a Sunday when she was supposed to be off. Regardless, we got them to schedule an appointment where they gave me a 6 hour time frame. between 2 and 8 PM (People have to go to work to earn if Mayes and AHS didn't realize it) I asked them to give me a call 1/2 hour before the tech arrives. They said well it depends on where the tech is. I still requested a text 1/2 hr ahead.

On the day of the appointment, the tech arrives at my home and the text comes with a link to track him which says he will be there in 7 mins. i called mayes and said i can be there in 20 mins. They refused Point blank refused. I said if he has another appointment near by, he can go there and come back. i will be home by then. She said he was going to the next place which is 4 miles from my home, and he cant come back. My appt is from 2-8 and at 4 he leaves to go 4 miles from my home but cant come back before 8? i still made it home and he had gone.

I called AHS, and as expected, the call went to Philippines. I was on hold for 19 mins and a lady picked up, i told her everything. And the line got dropped, i called again, i got through to them after 33 mins, and told them the whole story again. The lady was nice enough and said, i cant get a different company to service since i had already paid (My first fault i guess) but i can call them back to reschedule to a different date without another payment as a courtesy. She infact insisted that Mayes were waiting for me to call them so they could reschedule. But i have to go with them. By this time it was 5:20, i called Mayes, went to a voice mail, i left a voice mail and they also had 2 numbers for emergency. I called one of them and the lady said they were closed call the next day.

I call the next day, and the lady says I need to pay $60 for missed appointment she wont return the $100 got AHS on the call and AHS wont do anything about it either.

My hot water situation is still in doldrums. And it seems like Neither AHS not Mayes have any responsibility towards their customers.

WORST experience ever.

These guys got sent by American Home Shield. The technician kept referring to my water heater as a storage tank - this is because he knows storage tanks are not covered by AHS. I asked him to cross out storage tank on his report and write water heater. He argued with me before begrudgingly changing it. This morning, I check my AHS status and look and behold, denied because he told them I have a storage tank. I call AHS and they quickly realize the error and are sending someone else out.

I received a follow-up call from Mayes apologizing for the terminology error. They also contacted AHS and informed them that it's not a storage tank but a water heater. So I appreciated the follow-up and the correction.

This company was sent by American Home Shield.  First, they gave me a 5 hour time period that I had to be available; the office staff would not try to accommodate a more reasonable window, therefore I had to take off a day from work.  Second, the plumber arrived and tightened a gate valve stem nut and said the leaking valve was fixed.  He did not wait for a few minutes to double check his work.  Needless to say, it still leaks.  Which brings me to my third major complaint.  I called and spoke to the office manager when 15 minutes after the plumber left, I turned on the valve and it proceeded to leak.  I immediately called C Mayes and after being placed on hold for at least 5 minutes, I asked the office manager to have the plumber return to fix the leaking valve.  She responded that she was unable to speak directly to him, but she would get back to me the next day.  I cried foul as the guy just left, and even if he was on his way to another job, it is only 1445 I'm available the remainder of the day.  The office staff is terrible, they are not customer service oriented, so I advise all AHS members to immediately request another plumbing contractor if C Mayes is assigned as your contractor.

After American Home Shield assigned this company to my claim about a hot water heater leaking rusty water, and reading all the one-star reviews, I was pretty anxious about the ordeal I was about to go through with this company.  I even tried to get AHS to reassign another plumber to the claim, but they wouldn't do it.

But the plumbers who came took about five minutes looking at the leaking rusty water and determined I needed a new hot water heater, called AHS and made the arrangements, and came back four days later (Thursday to a Monday, so a weekend in between).  They installed a new 50-gallon AO Smith water heater, and the whole installation took about 45 minutes.

Maybe AHS has cleaned up their act some after being subject to a couple class-action law suits, but I really had no complaints with this experience.  I'm giving them four stars only because they gave me a five-hour window each time they came to the house (but did arrive within the promised window both times) and because although I haven't experienced any problems with the installation so far, it's only been five days, so time will tell if I need to have them back to fix any problems.

Jeremiah (I believe it was his name) came to my home on June 26 for a problem I had for years (since 2003) with one of my shower causing leakage to my dining room and never gotten fixed based on me having another shower. The technician comes in my home to tell me that the problem was caused by a shower head that was put on a week ago. I explained that that was not it because i've had the problem for years and had another plumber come to look at it years prior which at the time the new shower head wasn't installed. The tech has the nerve to tell me that I could not have had the problem for years. Who is he to tell me how long the issue been going on? I told the tech I just stopped using that shower and use my other shower that's why I never really got it fixed. Then I ask him how can I resolve the issue and he tells me I have to figure that out on my own. I will be writing this review on anything and everything I can find to put this technician out there. He was very unprofessional. Not only did a pay a $75 service fee to my home warranty he had the nerve to put the job was complete and he did absolutely nothing but look at the shower and assumed it was the shower head causing the problem and then have the nerve to put the job was completed through my home warranty company. What was completed? the problem still exist.  He did not look for any leaking pipes and he did not pull anything apart.  He need to be fired. That's was definitely a non -service fee I paid out

They were assigned to us by our home insurance(American Home Shield) to make diagnosis on 4 different issues we had regarding pipe leaking and garbage disposal. However, when their technician showed up, he was extremely unprofessional and he seemed to be rushing and he spent less than 10 minutes to properly look into the issues and all he did was taking pictures. I found out that he falsely reported to our home insurance that our garbage disposal was working while I was there when he came over our house and I know he did not even check our garbage disposal! Be aware of this company! They're dishonest and they will make you waist hours of your time!

We were assigned this plumber through American Home Shield.  The plumber originally came to address a leak in our master shower, he took a look literally and said it was a grouting issue and told us it wasn't covered and immediately reported this diagnosis to AHS who told us to find a handy man...we disagreed being the wall was leaking downstairs...so we asked for a recall, which took some convincing but the plumber came again..cut holes in our ceiling and said that our pipe to your shower pan needed to be replaced but he could not repair due to the air duct being in the way...or we can hire someone to fix it...by way of the shower pan but again its not covered...So we opt to remove the air duct which we did...the 3rd week approaching we called for two weeks straight to finally be told they could not do the work but the shower pan needs to be replaced not the pipe... We have holes in our ceiling with 3 diagnoses from this company... It's grout...It's your pipe, now it's the shower pan.  THEY DO NOT WANT TO WORK!!.. if AHS assigns you this company..ASK FOR ANOTHER COMPANY... Look at their reviews...they are terrible, unprofessional, and a nightmare to work with.  They don't care about your situation or care to fix it.  They are incompetent, the staff is rude and it's truly a shame because the manager I spoke with seemed to genuinely want to help us at first.  They appear to be overwhelmed and under staffed with poorly trained plumbers.  Very sad company and shame on AHS to even continue to refer this company with all these compliants.  I have elevated my compliant to the upper management with AHS and the Better Business Bureau.  Good Luck with this unfortunate company.  I will never work with them again... Do they even do work?!  Terrible

Tony and Lee from C. Mayes Plumbing & Heating replaced a ring that connected the tank to the toilet bowl. Both were very professional and pleasant right from the start. I appreciated their punctuality and they performed the work quickly and left the work area clean. I highly recommend C. Mayes Plumbing & Heating ask for Tony and Lee!

Referred through AHS, first of all the arrival time is between 10-4pm, no weekends, no appointments, we do have jobs too. They visited my home 3 times, the second time they arrived after 4pm.. the problems were never fixed. The never seem to have the proper tools in the van. I had to keep putting in new claims with AHS.The customer service rep. was extremely rude and unprofessional, she definitely lacked people skills.
I canceled them and decided to go with the true professional. Problem fixed and at a lesser rate and accommodating time.
AHS really need to read the reviews on this company before sending referrals .

The owner of Mayes Plumbing called me the other day and he started working hard to find out what went wrong in the return of my money, he was kind and very professional with me even in spite of my review, he worked hard to return my money in fact the money was returned to me the very next day, thank you Mayes Plumbing and Heating for understanding how important it was to me with COVID-19 and times being so hard losing track of any money is very stressful.

First, their staff that answer the phones could use some lessons on good customer service. They answer the phone and immediately put you in hold, with a minimal greeting. To schedule, they ask people to wait 6 hours for plumbers to arrive for service calls. They do have shorter times of 3 hours, but you'll have to wait well over a week to schedule one of those.

This company was assigned to me by my home warranty company, American Home Shield(AHS). First off, the customer service is terrible from the time my call was answered by Linda. I was calling because my home didn't have hot water and as I mentioned, they were assigned to me by AHS. They told me that a tech would arrive between 10 and 4, but he didn't arrive until almost 6p, as he stated that he was in the area on another call. Ok fine. When he arrived to my home he told me that I had a problem with my RPV. after doing a diagnostic test of my water pressure and told me that the pressure was 99 PSI, when it should be somewhere between 60-80 PSI. He stated that is what caused the pipe above the hot water heater to link and the damage incurred by the the dripping pipe to hot water heater is considered to be secondary damage and would not be covered in my plan. I was OK, with that, but he never informed AHS or his office that was the issue, so AHS wouldn't cover the cost of the replacement heater, nor did they have any record of the RPV being the issue. They sent a second tech out to my home,  only to say the same thing. They quoted me a price to replace the hot water heater that was more than 40% more expensive than any other plumbers in my area quoted me. After I complained to them and asked why they never stated the original issue of the RPV (regulating pressure valve) to AHS, they told me that they would give me a call back, but I haven't heard anything from them since. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND this company or AHS to ANYONE! If you have AHS, you will be better off saving your monthly payment to them in a separate account to make repairs. They are BOTH TERRIBLE and it almost feels like a SCAM!!

We have used American Home Shield for many years & they often refer our case to Mayes Plumbing for plumbing issues.
I've never felt compelled to write a review until now.
We had 2 issues in our master bathroom & they sent the excellent plumber, Robert.
I spoke with the manager Katherine who was friendly & professional when I called to see if she could narrow down letting me know the time frame of arrival on the day of appointment from first part of the day or later, as I work from home & was trying to schedule a meeting. She was very accommodating & understanding.
Robert texted when he was enroute as I asked & arrived in the time frame that I was told.
He was friendly & professional, wearing a mask & putting on foot coverings over his shoes before entering the house.
He quickly diagnosed both problems - a toilet valve kit replacement & a leaking shower. He was able to quickly remedy the toilet issue & needed to order new parts to fix the shower.
He told us we would get a call when the parts were in to schedule a return appointment which happened within a week & again, he texted when on his way, etc. & the shower was neatly repaired efficiently.
He again was polite & very professional.
Even our dog was happy to see him!
Look, I know that AHS is not always easy to deal with, but overall it has been well worth it for us to stick with them.
I can only speak for my personal experience with Mayes Plumbing & I can say that I highly recommend Robert & that manager Katherine & her staff were professional & friendly.

Mayes replaced our hot water heater and it was by far THE best experience we've had with any plumbing company in the 10 years we've been living in our home. They were punctual, super friendly and did an excellent job installing the new water heater. They even found a small leak in an adjacent bathroom and fixed it at no additional cost. Seems very trustworthy and transparent. I think we've found our lifetime plumbing service provider!

Let mr start this off by saying that this is crazy.  I sat on my home from 12 to 6pm WAITING FOR A SERVICE GUY FROM MAYS PLUMBING AND HEATING.  A NO SHOW!  How does this happen no phone call no nothing!  I had to pull my grandson out of his program just so that i could be here.  I called the emergency numbers no answer.  What in the entire fuck is this shit.
I am now on hold with american home shield to ask them to reschedule with someone else.  My time is very precious to me.  Had the secretary called and asked mr to reschedule i would have.  They dont even answer the gd emergency line!  If i have anything to do with this THEY WILL NOT GET MY MONEY!  RUN RIN AND DONT LOOK BACK!  I read their reviews on yelp please note that THESE PEOPLE ARENT LYING ABOUT THIS COMPANY!  7/16/2020.
Now on hold with am.homr shield for 6:22 minutes.  This is just fucking crazy!

So as im hitting the button to submit this my doorbell rings and it Dom and Len their plumbers.  The guys were very nice.  The first thing that they did was to give me an apology for being late.  I mention that had the office called and told me that they guys were running late and / or offer to reschedule my appt this would have made all the difference.  Once again they apologize.   I understand that sometimes you get stuck on a job and that it takes longer for whatever reason.  This piece isnt my business what is going on in someone elses home / business.  I would have just liked for someone from the office to have called and said they were running late or ask me to reschedule.   Ok so they have to order the garbage disposal that i need and will have to return to install it.  So we shall see.  They listened  and answered my questions as well as my daughter's questions.  They gave me some info that i didnt know about.  I appreciate the fact that they didnt just run in and run out.  They werent rushing me and answered all my questions as well as my daughter question.  Hopefully this wont upset me again.  I dont like these windows that all of the service place give you for deliveries and  repairs.  I only hope to get these two gentlemen to return to fix my garbage disposal.
Len and Dom thank you for making a difference in how my experience ended up with this company.  I look forward to working this out with you too.  ONLY YOU TOO.  I AM HIGH RISK AND DONT NEED ALOT OF PEOPLE IN MY HOME due to covid - 19. I have my toddler and asthmatic daughter so we really would just like to have these 2 young men to complete my service.
The administrative staff needs to do alittle more to inform customers about the status when things   starts to run late.  Maybe this should be mentioned in a staff meeting.  I dont know but when the business closes at the end of the day the front office should be calling the clients that havent had their service to notify them that someone would be coming or if they would like to be reschedule.  Everyone wants to go home on time to have dinner with their family and i understand this as well.
Well we shall see.  I will definitely keep you the public informed.  Thanks for letting me rant.  I will update you with my situation and how it plays out.

If I could give zero starts, I would.  And, this review may come off as rambling, so if  you're interested... read on.

We were assigned this place by our warranty company, AHS, so we had no choice in the matter.  I had to call them and set up the appointment, which is not typical since with AHS you normally get assigned a company and they call YOU to set things up.  Once I called them to set up the appointment, the woman mentioned that they only accept cash for the $75 service fee.  Can you say sketchy?  I was kind of in a bind, so I decided whatever and did not try and change companies.

The guy arrived during our 10 am to 2 pm window a couple days later.  He identified the problem (leaky main water valve), and mentioned that he could not do anything until we had Baltimore City cut off the water going into the house.  He said he could normally do it, but he was not sure where the cutoff valve outside was (there was snow all over the place), and that I should call the city and have them identify the area by tagging it with a flag.  Fine.  He said once we have them tag the area outside, that I should call him back directly so he could come back, cut the water from the city into the house, fix the leaky pipe, and then that would be that.  He specifically wanted me to call him DIRECTLY and NOT go through the office.  So, that's what I did.  The city said they only cutoff water outside and they don't tag the area.  So I had them cutoff the water (a nice $90 fee).

I called the day after the city cutoff the water, and the plumber said he should be able to get to it in the next couple of days and that he would call me and let me know.  No call.  I called the plumber back a week later, and he said he should be over to the house by the end of the week.  No call (luckily the house with the issue was a vacant lot). So, I decided to just call the office back directly (should have just done that from the start).  They put me on the schedule for that Thursday between 10 am and 2 pm.  2 pm that Thursday rolled around, and no call.  So, I called the office and they told me they were having trouble contacting the plumber assigned to my issue, and they would call me back shortly.  No call.  Finally around 3 pm, I called them back and they were amazed that I had not been contacted by the plumber.  FINALLY they said he was on his way.

Two guys arrived and they started the work.  I asked them if there was anyway they could turn the water back on outside since the city would charge me another $90 fee.  One guy looked at the other and kind of mentioned that they also charge a fee.  Interesting, since initially the guy who first came over said he would cut the water off outside if he knew where it was.  SO, I said to forget it and mentioned for them to just finish their work.  So, they did, and they said hey, we'll turn your water on for you if you throw my buddy and I some cash for lunch.  It was 4 pm... sketchy yet again...  So, I said I didn't have any cash on me.  So, they finished up and they showed me how to send the water into the house once I got the city to turn it back on outside.  Wouldn't you, as a way to make sure you fixed the issue, turn the water on outside and verify that the main water valve was not leaking anymore?  Maybe that's just me.  Whatever.  So, they left.  Minutes later they knocked on the door again and said Hey, we went ahead and turned on the water for you since we were late like it was nice of them to do that.  Uh, no.  Fine, they saved me from having to deal with the city, but only after they tried to get some more cash out of me.  The issue was fixed, but I would never want to deal with this company again.  I got the feeling that customers going through warranty were the least of their concern.  I am going to call AHS and alert them to the shadiness of Mayes Plumbing.

My home warranty company utilizes this plumbing service. I have had them come to my home twice. The service technicians that have come to the house have been polite and professional. However the office staff, specifically Katherine are absolutely HORRID!!!! She speaks like a white woman impersonating what she things a ghetto black woman would sound like. She has zero professionalism or tact. My first communication with her was scheduling the first appointment. I gave her the address for my home the issue in the home. She began telling me that I was lying and that my landlord told her something different. I let her continue her rant then politely informed her that she must have the wrong address because I own my home. She then noticed her mistake and became short without as much as an apology.

The second time I spoke with this woman I was seeking to get clarification on a recent service request. She became belligerent on the phone. I was so outdone with her faux ratchetness, I hung up on her.

I have not had any issue with any other service that my home warranty company has sent out or any issues with the warranty company. It's definitely not an issue with the home warranty company (contrary to the one 5 star review they got) it's an issue with this business. I just thing they get a good deal of their service from a contract with AHS. I wouldn't say this business is bad overall, but they definitely need to retrain, or better yet hire better, office staff.

This company was suggested by my home warranty company, I originally contacted them in February about my hot water heater which wouldn't light. C Mayes sent a technician out who was there a total of 15 minutes, they lit the pilot.

On March 13th I called them back, the pilot went out again and they came the same day. The technician said the first guy put the plate cover on tight which made the pilot go out again, he lit it again. I called them back on March 23 the pilot blew again. This company refused to come out and said that since they had been out twice before they were recommending that the hot water heater be replaced, I asked for the diagnosis which Lisa could not give me. I was told that they would send the information to AHS before the close of business.

I called AHS to see if they sent the diagnosis on the 24th the answer was no. They put me on hold and called they C Mayes, they were told that the paperwork would be sent by the close of business.I called Mayes back, I couldn't speak to Lisa but Brittany told me that it was on her managers desk and also told me it would be sent by close of business.

I called AHS again on March 25 at 7 am to check the status, still no word from Mayes. I called Mayes at 1:15p and was told the manager would call me right back. I called AHS again at 3p still no paperwork was submitted. They finally submitted the paperwork at 4:50p. The paperwork was completely bogus, they said the water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced which was a total and complete lie, it has never leaked the pilot just wouldn't lite.

In addition I was told out of pocket I was responsible for 125 to disconnect the gas line, 175 to bring the water heater up to code, 95 for a pressure gauge, 150 for a circuit and 100 for an optional drainage pan. The water heater was replaced 5 years ago and had been brought up to code already, it has a pressure gauge and I already purchased the optional drain pan. If they technician ever really looked at it they would already know this.

You see the problem I have with this in addition to just plain fraud is the fact that the water heater has never leaked but if it had why did they just light the pilot in February and again on March 13th? Why didn't they mention the 2 previous times that they came out that there was a leak? Why didn't they EVER do a diagnostic test? If they had they would have found out that it was the thermal coupling and the water heater did NOT need replacement!!!!

These criminals wanted to charge me a total of 700.00 out of pocket for a bogus claim, a water heater that has never leaked and could be repaired. This company should be put out of business by the BBB apparently if you read their reviews. Evidently they prey on home warranty companies clients and if it's the last thing I do I will not stop until my warranty company stops using them.

Do not trust Lisa or Brittany the voice of the company who are apparently trained to rob and steal from its hard working clients. I have had AHS for over 15 years on 2 different properties and I have never dealt with ANYTHING like this. You should be ashamed of yourselves and I hope that you are at least being paid on commission for the out of pocket robbery you support. I just hope you understand how karma works and what goes around comes around! You will not always be the one taking advantage of people it will one day happen to you! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY and if they are contracted by your warranty company ask for another company, they are crooks!!!!!

A total waste of time! Sent by American Home Shield when my water heater died. The guy turns off my hot water, and tells me someone will get back to me. Next day, I get a call from AHS saying based on Mayes estimate, my share is $900. What???

So I ask for a breakdown. A couple of items I question, and of course the AHS person knows nothing, but they tell me Mayes needs the access fixed. The water heater is in my crawl space, and it's tight, but it definitely fits. Then I get a call from Mayes telling me that I have to make the egress to the space bigger (meaning rip up my floor and cutting it up!). That's NOT happening. No alternative, according to them. Of course, there are a ton of things i

It seems they just really don't want the business. That's fine. Except I paid them for a 30 minute visit in which all they did was tell me my heater was leaking.

If AHS sends them to you, tell them you want someone else.

UPDATE- See comment below. Mayes offered no alternatives... smaller heater, maybe a tankless, etc.  Just that I needed to cut up my floor. Worse, the tech told me he turned off the water to the heater. Not true. He turned off the gas, so not only did I not have hot water, I had a water heater in the crawl space leaking a gallon of water every two hours.

Long story short, Vorhies Plumbing came out and installed a water heater for me. Day after I called them, too. Avoid Mayes. Use Vorhies.

Mayes Plumbing was assigned via AHS Warranty. Tony arrived within the slotted time frame and was able to identify the problem with my kitchen sink and fixed it within an hour. He was very friendly and knowledgable. Not sure what folks were sent out on the jobs that got bad reviews. But i would definetly reccommend Tony as a service guy.

They were contracted through AHS.  Initial appointment was 8/8/22.  Haven't been able to get them to come back and fix the things that truly were not fixed.  I have called and so has AHS; they didn't even respond to AHS!  They seem extremely disorganized and don't keep the 6 hour windows they give - coming 2 hours later past the windows and surprised when someone is not home.  They also set appointments they forgot to let the customers know about.  Lastly, the person that does respond( only responded when I threatened to report them to BB), acts like she's doing you a favor by responding.  Literally, told me that one of the services was a courtesy and proceeded to complain about AHS although they had already been paid for the service.  I also want to mention the solution that was put into my kitchen drain ate away the lining of my dishwasher.  The water has been sitting in the pipes and drain of the dishwasher which has smelled awful for over a month now.  I'm surprised that the worker would put such a harsh chemical down the drain since I had mentioned that water was backing up into the dishwasher.  After several complaints about the company over this one situation, AHS is considering dumping them.  I find that funny since many people take issue with AHS.  DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! They really deserve ) stars but in order to warn others I had to check one.

I guess I should not be surprised at all the negative reviews for this company.  They are a sham.  I would definitely not hire them if you were looking for a pluming company. Unfortunately, they are affiliated with American Home Shield, my home warranty company, so therefore Mayes was the company I had to deal with.

This company is untruthful, in their advice and approach. First, they lied about speaking with my husband on their process dealing with urgent pluming issues.  We asked that they come out asap as we had to shut off the water in our home.  They told us there was no availability and that we would have to wait. When the tech arrived, he mentioned that we could have called in to AHS to escalate the ticket to have someone out in 24 hours.

The technician was helpful. But there is definitely a disconnect within this company. They want to charge me $500 to add shutoff valves and an access panel to the shower unit they were replacing. The warranty company won't pay for shutoff valves since they were not previously there and since its now supposedly a code violation, shutoff valves have to be added. This is all well and good, but had it not been a code violation, they still would have to have added some type of connection between what they were replacing and the water pipes.  It's a very similar process to add shutoff valves vs. a straight connection, so the fact they want to charge $350 extra for that, FOH!!

Further, the fact that the plumber didn't know it was a code violation and that shut off valves had to be added when he came to my home... hmm, I find that hard to believe if he is licensed.

Anyways, I get everyone is out for money these days and gone are the days of good customer service and ethical practices. But if you have a choice, I would be stay far away from this company!

We were referred to Mayes from A. Home Shield and will not use them again.  If I could rate the technicians that came to the house initially and to do the work (Dave and others) I would give them a great rating; sorry they work for Mayes:-(!

We called in the job on June 3rd and here it is June 19th and all we needed was a simple replacement faucet from Amazon.  You do the math.  The first technicians came, cut off the hot water in the kitchen to stop the leak and said Mayes would send an email to approve the replacement faucet and someone would be back to install it.  We didn't see any email for days so we followed up with AHS and Mayes, all they could say was  that they sent the email.  Turns out the emailed screenshot from Amazon had a FROM email address of Support... and was buried in junk mail.   We finally found it and accepted it right away and then ... crickets!  So we called Brittany, at Mayes AGAIN and she told us they already said they would call when it comes in so she doesn't see the problem.  I told her it's been over 2 weeks with no hot water in the kitchen, that's the problem.  You don't even have a status for it?  Really?   She said basically, not my job but she would check on it if she could. Crickets again, of course.  So yesterday, I called to cancel everything and start over with AHS.  This time a different woman at Mayes said the part was in and they could install tomorrow (6 hour window, AHS would send robo call when they're on the way, didn't happen of course).  And thanks for the call that it was in.

So, today is tomorrow, Dave showed up (professionally and pleasantly) and we have the faucet (Don't let me down Dave!).

We'll never let AHS send us to Mayes again and are looking to get rid of AHS also.  With all the complaints on this site, AHS is losing credibility too, especially with so many other home warranty companies popping up out there.

I have American Home Shield. The gentlemen came at the time promised, were very professional and were able to overcome obstacles that my non functioning shower presented. These obstacles included an incorrect schematic and tiled in valve!

Although they could not fix the shower on this visit, a part has to be ordered, I was very happy with the service. I will follow up with another review when the job is done.

I've AHS & Mays called & scheduled appt for today from 12pm to 6pm. I called up the plumbing Co at 4:45pm saying is the man still coming? The receptionist replied on yes. Well I called back at 5:40PM & call went to voice mail I hung up. The guy called at 5:55 PM telling my man he's not on his way & he has 1 more job b4 coming here. My man asked well what time r we talking about b/c it's now 6:05pm. The guy replied not sure. But 8pm tonight.  Noooo, not here. I called AHS & another company is coming once they get my info. Let me start of by saying I've had several pleasant encounters with T. Mayes; however, most recently I wasn't happy with one of the people who serviced my home. He wasn't able to articulate the problem nor solve it.  There was a constant leak from my tub and this person had been to my home and replaced the entire faucet.  It was still leaking a half tub a day.  I will spare you the additional details, but what I will say is once I called Katherine on their after hours number she promised that she would send someone first thing in the morning.  A woman of her word there was someone knocking on my door at 8:00am who fixed the leak in 20 minutes.  He was knowledgeable and efficient. Usually companies aren't that responsive. Mayes Plumbing and Heating always respond.  They've worked on our on several occasions and they've always provided excellent service.  We are now working with them to replace our hot water heater through AHS and Katherine has been forthright and consistent through out the process.  I look forward to working with them in the future.

This company was sent by American Home Shield.  They are the worst company ever.  Their plumbers and management team are incompetent, childish and horrible.  They came out and said that they couldn't find the water valve but I was still charged the service fee.  They told AHS that I should send pictures of my turned off water valve then they would agree to schedule an appointment for repair.  If I turn it off, how would my family have access to water?  Needless to say. I went with a much better company.

Not sure why all the negativity. They did a great job installing a pressure valve in my home. No, it wasn't under our AHS warranty either. However, that's not the fault of this plumbing company. The beef I have with AHS isn't with C Mayes. The technician George and his assistant were professional and awesome to deal with. They were efficient and finished the job in pretty good time. They also were great explaining everything during the process. Catherine in the office was great to talk with as well. Thanks C Mayes for fixing the issue with the valve. AHS, well that's another review. Judging by what others have said about them, you can guess how I feel too.

T Mayes Plumbing are crooks. Back in February 2022 I had a leak in upstairs bathroom draining into my entry way light fixture. I called American Home Shield for a service request they send the request to T. Mayes after taking a 75 dollar service fee upfront. I had to call Mayes to find if they would come. I called the dispatch on Wednesday and they tell that no one can come until Friday. Friday comes and I called to find out when they are coming and they tell me that the tech has car trouble so they will have to reschedule for Saturday. Saturday comes no technician and no one to answer my calls. I call Monday and they tell me they would have get back to me to see when they could come. I hang up call Rotor Rooter and a hour later the Rotor Rooter tech comes and an hour later after that the job is done. Mayes Plumbing apparently tells AHS that they completed the job and they get paid $75 without proof of work or signature of proof. American Home Shield is shady and Mayes Plumbing are liars and thieves.

The person, Lisa, answering the phone has a total disregard for the customer. First let me say it took more than two weeks for my kitchen faucet to be ordered and for the plumber to return to install it. They scheduled for someone to come two days later between 10:00-4:00, which meant I had to take off from work. By 4:18 I decided to call to find out where the plumber was since I had not received a call or any updates throughout the day. While being a ru rly placed on hold immediately as the phone was answered, one minute later I received an email stating that the plumber was in route and 24 minutes away. After the plumber disconnected the faucet, he learned that the connections that came with the faucet didn't fit the standard valves that are under the sink. He then tells me that the water valves under the sink will not turn off and that he didn't have any parts on his truck to fix this issue. This has left the hot water constantly running from the sink that required us to turn off the main water to the entire house. Fast forward to the next day 11:00 am and still no call or update on when the plumber is returning, I call Mayes to find out what's happening. Lisa has no idea what was going on and said the faucet was installed. I explain to her the situation and stated that they would have to order the parts and someone will call when they get in. When I asked when that would be she said she didn't know. Now I'm told that I'll be without water until Wednesday. Hopefully this will get fixed soon. I would not recommend this plumber.

8 months later my tank installation still hasn't passed inspection. If you don't care about customer service, follow-through and timeliness this is the place for you. I have had two water tank installs with different plumbing companies in the last 12 months. One by Mayes plumbing in  March 2018 took days for install, months for inspection to occur (it failed) and months to schedule corrections and reinspection will be 11/26. The office staff is rude as the other commentaries indicate, the plumbers are always late and they give misinformation about inspections. I wouldn't have realized if the gas inspector hadn't told me the give a window of time. My other property is less than a mile from this one. Joy Plumbing did that install on 11/18, scheduled the inspection with the gas inspector for today and it passed first try. Would you rather work on a problem for months or get it right the first time. I prefer the ease of the second install.

Terrible customer service!!! Varina, answered phone..I asked about tech status and if he could text or call me when lvg last job so I can run someplace. My appt was 12-6pm window! I called at 4pm to inquire about technicians status. Varina put me on hold then returned and stated that the tech had 1 more job before mine and AHS would send me a text, so I ran to the store. 20 min later the tech is rat my door. I answered him in my doorbell and told him what Varina has just told me. He walked bk to his truck. I then called C. Mayes again. This time I spoke with Kathleen, manager. I told her what just happened and that I could call my daughter and get her to let tech in. To my surprise she (Mgr) started yelling that the tech has already been at my house for 15min and will only wait 10 min. I proceed to remind her what Varina has told me, which is why I wasn't at home. The Mgr (Kathleen)then overtalks me saying that She, Tony and several others heard htell me that the tech was on his way to my house. I was so shocked that they were saying the harsh/string words and tone that I felt that others needed to know how my service request was handled.  I did nothing to these ppl! I am a customer trying to get my disposal fixed and simply called and asked a question and was given I mis-info. But, instead of admitting it...The whole staff corroborated the lie and treated me as if I was the issue. I will never use them again!
Saw their truck at a neighbors house today and hoped that Mayes staff woke up on the right side of service and truth today!

Unlike other reviews, I had a positive experience with Mayes plumbing. I called my home warranty company and needed my toilet issue addressed. Catherine ,at Mayes, worked with me to get it done around my schedule. Bobby and Dave showed up and quickly diagnosed my issue. They installed replacement parts and was good to go.

The only thing I would've changed: it would have been nice to get a PHONE call before they came instead of a text (I was washing clothes so I didn't hear it). But I think that comes through the home warranty company. Luckily, I was home when they came and not in the shower or something. Otherwise, very effective and timely service! I would use them again.

This company has to be a scam and works for American Home Warranty!
Plumber was sent out for leaking pipe in drain for my washer and Utility room sink, He was the most un-professional service person I have ever had.
His diagnoses took thirty seconds after cutting drywall out. The leak was in the drain pipe at the joint (showed me in person) but he had to get Ok to move utility sink from warranty company and left my home.
He then told the warranty company the leak was from my roof and running down the drain pipe??  Not what he showed or told me. I have New home, really? The warranty company told me three days later the roof is not covered? Laughable as the leak has nothing to do with the roof! The Service manager for T Mays could only tell me to get a second opinion? Does that sound like a plumbing company that cares?  Of Course NOT,
STAY AWAY from this ridiculous company.

AHS gave the job order to this company and sent their technician. They sent a technician who did not even took a look of where the water leak was coming. He just told me that AHS will not cover it because it is in our driveway and then put a job status of completed. How is the job completed when they did not do any fix of the leak, or even just located where the leak is coming. DON'T TRUST this company, they don't help the customer. I am also one of the AHS/Mayes victims - AHS forwarded me to these guys - what a nightmare. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the quality of their service yet, as I have been trying to get them here to do the job for the last three weeks. I had multiple calls with company and their call center rep, or office manager as she calls herself, claims that she is the only person who has any managerial authority of the company and refused to escalate my issue. And, I asked for an email or text as preferred way of communication, but was told that phone call is the only way they are going to reach out to me

My instant hot water dispenser stopped working and AHS assigned the work to this company. The technician they sent did not exercise any effort to find the real cause of the problem or to try to repair it. He complained about how tight the area the hot water dispenser is located in. He went on, unprofessionally and inaccurately to report the issue as a clogging in the faucet part of the dispenser, and that is based on pure speculation. AHS held on to that and denied the request for replacement stating that they cover damages that are only due to wear and tear. The unprofessionalism of this company lead me to request a second opinion, waste precious time over multiple phone calls with AHS, wait a week for another plumber to come in. I would never work with this company again and do not recommend them to anyone

American Home Shield Called Mayes for us about a drain stoppage.  They said we needed a cleanout behind out kitchen sink.  We have had it snaked without a cleanout in the past.  American Home shield said we did not need a cleanout.  The tech said we needed to get a new disposer and said something was inside it causing it not to work rather than wear and tear. AHS said they would cover wear and tear. But AHS would not cover it because the tech said it did not work because something was inside it causing it not to work.  He made that up as far as I'm concerned.  We did get it working smoothly but it kept shutting off. Nothing was inside it causing damage.  No odd noise inside the disposer. We will get another plumber for sure!!!

I was not impressed. I was given this plumber through American Home Shield and they couldn't unclog my sink. (They waited a day to call AHS so I was over 24 hours waiting for a decision). Mayes told me they needed a bigger snake, but told the AHS that I needed something else. So they not only didn't do the job, they gave me misinformation. What they told AHS caused them to deny my claim so I'm left with a clogged sink with no real information about how to get it fixed. They either lied to me or AHS. I now have to find another plumber and pay again to have someone fix my clogged sink. It seems Mayes only cared that they got paid and could have cared less about me or my sink.

American Home Shield, our home warranty company, contracts with Mayes for plumbing issues. I was a little hesitant to use them after reading some of the reviews and was tempted to hire a plumbing company outside of the AHS coverage, but I'm glad I didn't. Mayes responded promptly - they sent a Robert the day following our call and he was wonderful. Professional, efficient, knowledgeable and very pleasant to interact with. He went above and beyond, advising us on other potential plumbing problems and de-clogging our sink and tub, as well as correctly diagnosing and quickly fixing the issue that had prompted our call (a pipe leak above our kitchen ceiling that turned out to be from a toilet pipe). He took great care to protect our home (bringing towels, a sheet to put under his ladder when cutting the ceiling and working on the pipe, shoe protectors while inside the house, a mask, etc.) He also explained the process before doing anything irreversible, for example letting us know before he cut into our ceiling that he would call the company they work with to come out and repair any holes he makes. He impressed me a hard worker and great multi-tasker (he was even able to take a call while working on our pipe and offering advice over the phone for a different issue). I won't hesitate to use Mayes again, and will make sure to ask for Robert if he's available.

Used the company because they were sent by American Home Shield (AHS).  Had an issue with my sink leaking, and they supposedly fixed it.  Guess what?  NOT FIXED.  They came back out and this tech says, yeah, last tech should have done this part too.  Use this company if you want to pay for repairs on the same thing over and over again.  Be weary of any company sent by AHS.

Another one of American Home Shield's undesirables! Came in for all of 2 minutes (no exaggeration! - with no tools) speaking to me in a condescending manner as if I was stupid, interrupting my sentences, and made to feel like it was my fault. They told AHS there was water all over the floor from the hot water tank which was TOTALLY A LIE. So I googled the reviews after these 2 individuals left (only one was condescending tho). If I was skeptical before reading the reviews, I am even more now. I do not want to deal with them. I'd rather pay the extra outside of AHS to be reassured that my water heater will be installed without any issues or condescending BS. On top of that I am not sure if AHS is even doing me any justice by having a contract with them. This is the second time I received incompetent service from a contractor of AHS (had to double pay by having to get outside service bc the contractor AHS sent took a month of re-tries without fixing my AC). So with this water heater, AHS is paying $350 and my out of pocket was quoted at $640. I received another estimate outside of the warranty and was quoted $700 for tank including a pressure valve (which is an additional piece if I want it) and $400 for labor. Yes more than AHS but what are they really doing for me overall sending liars and incompetent people - paying increasing monthly payments for what  ???. Can you tell I'm upset...from someone who does not talk much.

Run the other way.  Sent through the home warranty company.  Our water heater was NOT the problem but by the end of the visit the guy was trying to sell us three different kinds of water heaters and trying to scare us by describing a by-comparison more expensive chimney repair.

They looked for every reason NOT to do the warranty repair - it was clear from the get-go.

And when even the repairman admits there's no problem with the water heater but tries to sell you a new one, you know you're dealing with an ethically challenged business.

Stay away.

The receptionist is very rude. I was referred through a warranty company but had to hire someone else due to the lack of availability. They don't have morning or evening appointments they only have one weekday available.
So if you don't have a job this company would be great but if you work they don't have enough technicians to accommodate you don't waste your time calling them.

I had an active leak in my basement and my basement floor was covered in water and it was rising.  I had to deal with Mayes because I use American Home Shield warranty.  I submitted the request over the weekend.  They called late, late Sunday night (I missed the call) and I could not get a hold of them again until Tuesday morning.  At that point, they said they could only come out on THURSDAY.  Even after I explained it was an active massive leak.  And the window???  10-4.  Thanks.

Luckily, I called AHS back and they reassigned the job to another plumber (who is coming out within hours).  Even AHS could not get a hold of Mayes to find out why they wouldn't come out sooner.

It is strange that they have a special press 1 for home warranty because it really feels like they then low-prioritize you.

The woman who took my call was not friendly in any way.  She literally said oh well when I said my basement floor was under water.

Strongly recommend NOT using this plumber.  If you have AHS - call back and get it reassigned.  You are NOT stuck with the first tech they send you.

Reading the previous reviews, a lot sounds similar to our experience however, the job and customer service was pretty great. Bobby and Tony came within the window after setting it up through AHS (American Home Shield). They were polite, even offered to take off their shoes! We needed a new water heater and were told that some things were not covered by the warranty, adding to about $700. Now-since we were expecting the worst and are new to this game, perhaps we were too naive...but the warranty seems to only cover the basic major appliances...so if a few things were needed in addition to that, we happily agreed to the cost. All in all, we had a positive experience with the company and wonder if perhaps more investigating needs to be done with AHS and their policies.

I had multiple issues (slow sink drain and a slow leak in an upstairs bathroom) that I had to work through with my AHS homeowner warranty.   While it took several visits (the warranty approval process slowed things up) - eventually both issues were resolved.   Tyler, the tech/plumber assigned to my claim, was ALWAYS very polite and professional - while my issue wasn't resolved immediately - he and T Mayes company continued to work with me to get things taken care of.  I'm surprised at some of the negative issues - but suspect they are more driven by the hoops this contractor had to jump through to comply with the homeowner warranty.  I'm very satisfied with the level of service this company supplied - and happy that both plumbing issues are now resolved.   Thanks Tyler and Team!

I was assigned this plumber through AHS warranty.  During the initial phone call to set up my appointment, the scheduler asked me to describe my problem.  I explained that there was a leaking pipe in the crawl space, and I wasn't sure where.  Her response: Well I don't know what you think we can do about it if it's in an inaccessible crawl space.  (I replied that I wasn't sure it was in an inaccessible part.)  You're a plumber, I expect you to fix it, or tell me what next steps need to be taken to facilitate a fix.  Not an ok answer when customer is stressing a water leak all over their basement.

Plumbers came out a few days later.  Professional and polite.  But, the kings of upselling.  According to them there were like 8 things that needed to be fixed.  And, OH, by the way, there's a loophole in your policy that won't cover this repair so it's out of pocket.  On the one hand, I appreciate the plumber using his experience to warn me about this.  On the other hand, shouldn't the insurer deny my claim rather than the plumber?  I asked how much this would cost if it's out of pocket, and told $800-$1,200.  I went for a second opinion based on this information, and the second plumber said only 2 things needed to be fixed, the rest was nonsense, and the total job has now been completed by plumber #2 at a cost of $400.

This company is a nightmare to deal with.  American Home Shield referred Mayes Plumbing to replace our water heater back in March 2023.  While AHS paid for the water heater we paid Mayes $1100 cash up front because that is what they required for the insulation and the inspection.  They refused to send an estimate in writing for some reason. After the water heater was install the inspector came out in April and the water heater failed inspection twice! Now Mayes is telling us that we need to pay an additional $355 for our water heater to pass inspection.  The customer service is horrible-they don't return calls or follow up.  It's now end of July and we're still trying to get this water heater fix properly.

Through American Home Shield, this plumbing company was dispatched. The first error, the guy parked in our driveway, blocking my husband's truck in. Second, he was LATE!  He then proceeded to dismiss our claims, giving us a worse case scenario for each and every problem. He focused on what isn't covered and did not fix anything!  We didn't receive a copy of the work order. We also were not told how much the repairs diagnosed would cost. I expected a better experience with American Home Shield and Mayer's Plumbing.

I attempted to use this company based on an assignment from home warranty company. T Mayes's holiday hours would not work for my schedule. To note, closed from Thanksgiving until Monday. The first wan I spoke with was very courteous and understood. I get a callback from a woman and she tried to tell me that I couldn't cancel them and they were within scheduling guidelines and was was pushy. Well, I called my warranty company back, told them how forceful the company was and was rescheduled with another company. I would never use this company in the future.

Overcharged and bad business. Had Mayes Plumbing dispatched by our home warranty for a blocked line in a rental we own. After their brief initial assessment, they informed us the job required would be out of the warranty scope. On the second visit they merely pulled the toilet, snaked the line for 10 ft, hit an obstruction, stopped, replaced the toilet and charged us $695 for a less than 60 min job I could have done myself. When I asked why we were charged for incomplete work they said the work done was $695 worthy. I priced 5 other plumbers in the Annapolis area after the fact and they all charge less than half for a job of this scope. Lesson learned- don't use the low brow warranty assigned company for follow-on work and definitely do not use Mayes Plumbing.

Zero stars is not an option so I had to give one to post this.  Stay away from this business at all costs. I had an overhead leak coming from the ceiling in the dining area. I contacted AHS and requested plumbing service and they assigned C. Mayes to the job.  They sent a plumber out who cut a 2ft x2ft hole in the ceiling and he indicated that it was NOT a leak as there are no pipes in this area.  He stated that I needed someone to come out and look at the ducts or the roof.  AHS sent someone from HVAC (Genesis company) to look at the duct work to determine the cause for leaking and that technician assessed thoroughly and said it was not the duct work but a plumbing issue. This made sense to me as when you turn the main water off the leaking stopped which I shared with C. Mayes. I also covered all of my bases and had a roofer come out to ensure it was not the roof.  It was not.  I called C. Mayes plumbing back and requested they send a plumber back out and requested they send a different plumber than the original, however they declined as per their original plumber, there are no pipes present in the area of the leak to repair. I requested to speak with a supervisor and spoke with Catherine, who was less than helpful.  I explained the problem to her thoroughly and received no resolution other than her parroting what the report from their plumber stated. I had to have AHS call them directly and C. Mayes again reiterated they would not come back out. I asked for a different plumbing company to come out through AHS and they originally said yes, then kicked me back to this awful company for reasons I still don't understand. C. Mayes

C. Mayes said they would come out to fix the leak but first I had to have the duct work in the area removed  as whatever was leaking was not accessible/visible.  So I had an estimate for the duct work removal ($1200). That's a pretty penny! So this gal finally decided to use her own common sense and not trust the experts at C. Mayes.  I had a second opinion/estimate for the duct work come out at the same time as a second plumber (my own dime, NOT through AHS) and guess what? My man Kevin from Laurel Plumbing came out and identified the pipe that was leaking in under five minutes!  The duct guy and I could see the area too when he pointed it out as he saw the mist in the area.  He cut a second much smaller hole in the area adjacent to the first cut by the C. Mayes plumber, went in, replaced the pipe and was out the door within an hour. No more leak since. I reported this on 02/06/20 and was being given the run around until 02/25/20 when I addressed the problem myself by getting someone knowledgeable in to fix it.

The most frustrating thing is that C. Mayes is lacking in customer service and on the job know how.  Okay, some places stink at customer service but have great technicians or vice versa. Kind of like a surgeon who is highly skilled but has a bad bedside manner or that sweet doctor who is okay for the basics but you need to pull out the big guns if you had COVID 19 exposure. C. Mayes company is just an awful company all the way around.  If you get stuck with them through AHS, I feel sorry for you.  If you choose them on your own? Then shame on you and you get what you deserve! Read this review and all of the others.  Save your sanity and stay away!

Now after wasting all this time writing about my awful experience with C. Mayes, I need to go post a glowing one for Kevin at Laurel Plumbing because they took care of me again!

Shocker...they came out because my home warranty company American Home Shield forced me to use them to repair my sump pump. He did zero work and declared that while my home warranty company would cover the sump pump, they would not cover the plumping work which he would do for an additional 400 bucks. When I refused and asked him to just fix the pump without the plumping changes he refused. I told him I had seen that over and over on his reviews so I was not surprised. He then called my home warranty company and said the pump would NOT be covered. His story changed magically. This company is a scam.

This company was sent via American Home Shield. Next time KEEP them! The most horrible experience ever! I called AHS because my toilet was clogged. We had plunged away to no avail. The technician came and first off must have been ready for his lunch break because he stayed around about 20 min. He assumed that we have a foreign object lodged in the toilet because he could not get the snake down there. His next recommendation was that we needed a new toilet. Wait...*hands raising* How can you determine that someone needs a new toilet and you don't take up the one they have? I am no plumber but I do know that the assumption should not be made that A) a foreign object is present and B) a new $395 toilet is needed and you never took up the toilet in the first place.

It could have been something else that was in the toilet and just because the snake and or toilet auger would not by past that it is unfair to JUST assume and the toilet wasn't taken up to actually see what it was.

He also was very unprofessional with the clean up process after the job. We had the water turned off. He of course had to turn it back on to see if it would flush. Filling the toilet up half way would have done so. He left my toilet filled to the brim with water. Now we have to do more work and bail all of the dirty black tar look alike water from our toilet.

American HOME Shield find better contractors. AHS has become terrible over the years. Please look elsewhere when you are searching for plumbing services.

I wish I could give them no stars.  Like a few other reviewers I have AHS warranty.  This is my second dealing with Mays Plumbing.  The first time my toilet was leaking the guy came in and replaced the wax ring.  A week later toilet started to leak again, 2 guys came out and stated I had a stoppage in the pipe and they were not equipped to handle. So, another plumbing co. came out and the issue was with the wax ring that Mays had put in. I was with my upstairs toilet for over 2 weeks. I made a verbal compliant to AHS.

This last incident cause me too pause, my bathroom sinks was leaking so I did the online request for service.  I didn't remember the name of the plumbing company at the time of request.  Mays' guy came out assessed the sink and said he didn't have the part on his truck and had to come back.  A few days later I receive a call from May's thinking they are calling to schedule an appointment.  That was not the case, they wanted to let me know there would be an additional charge of 295 for pipe access. Ok, this is not what the guy to me.  So, i called AHS which was a joke 30 to 45 min wait time.  I cant wait that long on phone the when I am at work.  After a week I called Mays to find out how the guy needed access to the pipe, nine tiles needed to be removed from under the sink.  Long story short, I asked my neighbor who use to be maintenance man for an apartmemt building if he could take the tile out because couldn't see myself paying 295 to knockout 9 tiles.  He actually fixed the sink without removing any tiles or breaking up the wall.

I will formally file a comp!aint with AHS and always request a different p!umber

T. Mayes plumbing was referred to us by AHS. My experience with them is not a happy one. They would schedule you for a day one week in advance and can't give you a specific time to come. A 6 hour window is good for people who stays at home doing nothing but wait on a plumber. We are working class citizens and our time is precious. When we file for a leave at work to accommodate you and then you have to reschedule because you run out of an elbow pipe to replace the leaking pipe, you wanted us to be available again for the next week for the same 6 hour window waiting for you? I even called on the day itself as to what time they will be coming so I can do some errands in between, they told me it is at the end of the day to which I clarified as 4pm and the lady said yes.  When the plumber came at 2:30 I was still out because I was expecting him to come around 4 pm, then they are asking me to pay the missed appointment fee of 60 dollars in order for them to continue replacing the leaking elbow pipe which they came to do in the first place. Up to now, a month and a half later that elbow has not been replaced.

C Mayes was sent out by my home warranty company(AHS) for gas water heater replacement. AHS covers a NEW WATER HEATER & LABOR. The C Mayes plumber added excess charges for basic items for a water heater replacement that the warranty covered labor and the water heater: $95 for drain pan ($20 HD), $95 for disposal, $250 for expansion tank that is not need for the replacement any thermal expansion will expand backwards into the water distribution system,  $95 for a CO2 detector ($40 at HD), $150 for permit, $150 for lead free shut-off and $150 for removal of gas line (wouldn't you have to remove the gas line to replace the water heater--labor). Took no more than 10 min to write up $900+ of extra uncovered charges and did not explain anything about the over charges, but wanted to collect the $75 co-pay and said AHS will contact me. I experienced terrible customer service and ask the AHS to take a look at this providers practices.

I had two leaking faucets and was assigned Mayes Plumbing by my home warranty company AHS.  I paid my $100 fee to AHS, and then called Mayes. Mayes gave me an ridiculously long 6-hour arrival window and told me they would give me a call when their guy was on the way, which would give me from 5 to 30 minutes advanced notice.  I don't live at this address.  I live 30 minutes away.  So giving me 5 minutes advance notice doesn't allow me time to get there.  So what happened was, I was driving and I was ready to answer my phone if they called.  But they didn't call.  They TEXTED me.  Since I was expecting a call, not a text, and since I couldn't read the text while driving, I didn't look at it until I got home.  By then it was too late, so Mayes wanted $60 for a no-show fee.  At first, AHS sided with Mayes.  I went back and forth to Mayes and AHS.  AHS said I would have to pay them another $100 to switch plumbing companies.  Alternatively, Mayes demanded the $60 no-show fee before they would come out again.  And they were quite snooty and inflexible about it.  They actually expected me to get there within 5 minutes of their advanced notice text message, though I live 30 minutes away.  Finally I discovered their 2-star rating here on Yelp.  I then informed an AHS supervisor of this, and of the preceding events, and she called up Mayes.  This time Mayes did not win.  The supervisor assigned a different plumbing company to me at no additional charge.  I'm hoping AHS has dumped Mayes.

American Home Shield sent this company to my house for a couple slow pipe leaks.  The plumber stated to me in person that sections needed to be taken out and new pipes put in at certain sections. He advised I call American Home Shield to set up an appointment to come back to do the work.

American Home Shield told me C Mayes Plumbing stated there was no leak and no problem. Pictures are attached. What do you think?

Save yourself and do not hire these people. I actually cancelled our American Home Shield contract based on the incompetency of their staff, communication, and plumbers. The plumber came did not find the leak but placed three holes in the drywall. After he left, I discovered an access point to the pipes in the ceiling of the bedroom he cut into (you would think an experienced plumber would look for an access  before cutting into drywall). I found the leak immediately and called again to ask that they return to repair the pipe. I made phone calls, sent pictures, video, and communicated via email kitchen only to be told that I needed to tear down my cabinets and the trim. The lady on the phone also said that if I wanted the plumber to go through the ceiling drywall they would charge 400.00 for the visit???
Between the hours spent on hold with AHS, and the service charge I spent for an incompetent plumber my husband and I decided it was not worth it.
I called another plumber, they were out the next day repaired the pipe through the ceiling in an hour. The plumber we hired had a friendly scheduling service, the plumber was competent and knowledgeable and quick.
C Mayes plumbing and heating made every step of the way difficult. They were rude and obviously do not like what they are doing. NEVER AGAIN!

I was referred to this company through my home warranty company for a leaking water heater. For my first appointment the arrival window was between 10am-4pm. No one showed up or called between that time-window, I received a call around 6pm asking if someone could FaceTime me to complete a virtual evaluation. I was informed by this company that I needed to have my flue and chimney connection brought up to code before they could complete the water heater replacement. I contacted the referred chimney company to have the work completed $1800. Once the flue and chimney work was complete I reached out to Mayes Plumbing and Heating numerous times (voicemail, email, calls, and text message) one week passed with no response. I began calling daily, I left a message with the receptionist for my service manager to give me a call back. No one ever returned my call. On day three of calling the company I was finally transferred to my service manager Tony North. My biggest concern with the wait was that my water heater would go up and leave 40gallons of water all over my basement. They could not locate the agreement form that I signed and returned previously. Despite the delay, they were able to schedule me for service 3 days later. They arrived on time that day and completed the replacement in a timely fashion. As the repairman was going over the finished work he informed me that I had a balance of $810 and that he was told I would be paying in cash. I was shocked as no one reviewed with me that these additional charges (outside of my home warranty) were due at this time, let alone any promise of me giving them cash. I paid with CC. I reviewed the breakdown of the $800 worth of extra charges that no one reviewed with me prior to the work being completed and gave the service manager a call. I left a voicemail, no response. I connected with someone else in the office and was told they cannot disclose to me the cost for the replacement and installation of my water heater (this was not included on my receipt-very shady). I would not recommend this company to anyone, they are NOT responsive, NOT upfront with costs/pricing, and took advantage of the referral from the home warranty company. I believe that I was taken advantage of because I am a single female. Horrible customer service from the office and service manager. I want to note that the repairmen that came out to my home were very professional and courteous.

Worst possible service., would give a zero star if that was possible. I have never heard of this company and was assigned service through American Home Shield home warranty for a leak under the kitchen faucet. The technician tightened a screw on the faucet and assured me that the problem was taken care of, until I discovered a few minutes after he left that there was a little pool of water in the closet under the sink...No follow up was offered after multiple phone calls, and i felt customer service over the phone was extremely rude . Definitely will not recommend this company

My home warranty company chose Mayes plumbing to repair a faucet.

Worst experience with a plumbing company I have ever dealt with.  Gave a window of arrival of 10:00-4:00.  Was told they would notify me when on their way.  Was notified 4 minutes before plumber was in my driveway.  Refused to wait for me to arrive to complete work.  Then notified my warranty company that I was a no show and the job was completed so I was not able to get a refund on my charge. Will never use nor refer this company to anyone again.

Mayes Plumbing came to my house and told me in order to replace a faucet in the kitchen it would not be covered by my home warranty unless I paid an additional $395 to remove the garbage disposal and P trap which was in the way of the faucet. I replaced the faucet myself and it took me 15 minutes, I didn't need to remove the garbage disposal or the P trap. I'm also not sure how many hours that may have taken a professional plumber but $395 was an absurd price for something that never needed to be done in the first place.

Roman from T. Mayes came out to our home on time and quickly resolved the issue. Apparently, the first plumber Bobby did not have the proper equipment to fix our stoppage and left. I would highly recommend both Roman and his assistant as well as Mayes plumbing.

I was not impressed with this company AT ALL. I had sporadic hot water throughout my house (running out quickly, lacking in some bathrooms).  They tested the heating elements on the hot water heater and said they were all working fine.

Their solution was to sell me a new hot water heather, add a second hot water heater, or install a tankless hot water heater. Adding a second didn't seem logical, because if the first one is defective, why would adding a second one help? Also, the hot water heater is only 8yrs old so I doubted it had just died (since some baths had hot water sometimes).

I got a second plumber to come out, who quickly diagnosed that one of the heating elements on the WH had failed, replaced it quickly, and ta-da: Hot water throughout the house!  MK Plumbing, LLC was the company who wound up doing a great job.

My experience with Mayes plumbing was protracted, unpleasant, and leads me to leave a rare negative review. Two main issues: (1) they did not show up when they said that they would and (2) they gave me incorrect information about what carbon monoxide detectors were needed.  To be it more bluntly: the dispatcher lied to me about when my water heater would be replaced, didn't acknowledge or apologize for leaving my family without hot water, and then tried to sell me CO detectors I did not need by claiming the ones I had were not up to code. The inspector from WSSC confirmed that she was wrong. What I already had installed was up to code.

My home warranty company chose Mayes plumbing to replace a defective water heater. It took weeks to get a replacement, partly because of the warranty company, but the process could have ended a week earlier if Mayes had followed through when they said they would. I ended up taking a day off work only to find out they had cancelled my service call without telling me, and the woman I spoke with on the phone acted as though there was no inconvenience.

If you have a repair that you don't mind waiting for weeks for someone to fix, and don't mind being repeatedly lied to, this might be a good choice, but otherwise *stay away*

On the positive side, the completed work was done correctly and the plumbers they sent out were competent and professional.

American home shield is our warranty supplier for our water heater. The heater stop working,  they sent out a Mayes plumbing tech to replace the old water heater. Might you know we haven't had hot water to use for about 7 days. Once the tech come came out the new heater was noticed to have had a major dent on the top right side of the heater. The tech stated this happens a lot. I told them I don't want it due to us paying for a new model not a damaged one. The female supervisor From May's heating and plumbing then called me back and said she would give me $100 off since it's damaged, I told her we brought a new heater not a damaged one, she said they have no control over what happens when it's shipped, the tech even mentioned that this happens a lot with dented heaters arriving. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A ISSUE THAT MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO RESOLVE ON BOTH ENDS. Meaning...... company that makes them + Delivery drives + receiving dock needs to build some sort of accountability.... if me the customer feels unsatisfied something is wrong. So I called the mays heating company back the female supervisor that I spoke to 20min prior I was redirected to once again, she had the worst customer service skills I ever encountered. I told her from my understanding next week once the 2nd new water heater comes in again ( just suppose ) that one is damaged she says AGAIN I have no control over what happens during the delivery process. As a leader for many high profile companies for 20 plus years,  I must say this was the worst response a supervisor or manger should ever give. 1st problem is she and the tech said this takes place a lot, meaning the company is very aware of a process that's broken, not only that but if something happens or is noticed over a dozen times a team needs to be put in place to address an also train their front line leaders on how to make the customer feel it's going to be addressed. Overall I feel like it's a freaking high probability this could or will happen again.

I can go on and on.... can someone in this company please put a process or team in place to address what appear to be a on going problem, and also provide some in-depth customer service training to this female supervisor. I wish I had her name.

Any way have a good day.

My Home Warranty Company sent this company out. The plumber never left my living room and was guessing about what was wrong, telling me the warranty didn't cover it. He not once verified what the problem was. He did however make sure he collected the $75 co-pay up front before saying or doing anything. No customer service whatsoever. Be very careful if this company is assigned to you not to pay before they've completed the work. He was a waste of time & money and I still have to call another plumber to come out and look at my pipe.

DO NOT....I repeat DO NOT use this company!!!! Had them to my home due to a clogged kitchen sink. I got referred to them from American Home Shield (which I have also since cancelled for their issues as well but that is a separate story). First, I will say the guy they sent was nice ... he did call when he was going to be late and was professional and pleasant HOWEVER that is where the good points end (and to be honest being professional and nice in someone's home is the bare minimum). He tries to snake the sink but says it is too clogged and that I would need to pay to have a clean out installed. He quotes me a price of $395 and said that since it is a new part, American Home Shield would not cover it. I said ok - after all I needed my kitchen sink. The next day I wait and wait and wait to hear from someone - anyone - about getting them back out for the fix but nothing. It's a Thursday at this point so I call the office myself for a status and am told they would have to have the operations manager to call me back. I say ok and continue to wait. Another day passes (it is a Friday now) and I call the office asking for a status update. I am told a service manager would call me back.....still I wait and still NOTHING. Friday afternoon now I call again and am greeted with a recording that the office is closed! I decided to call back and select the emergency option because at this point, it is an emergency for me. A young lady answers the line and in short tells me I am simply out of luck because the office is closed and she is driving at the moment and can't help (thank God this wasn't an OMG my house is flooding emergency or that she isn't working a 911 emergency line because my goodness - what a way to handle the emergency phone). She says that someone would call me back and I ask ok will that be today as I was promised this morning and she says no....it will be Monday when the office reopens. Now keep in mind I have been getting promised a callback since Wednesday!!!!! I tell her to just cancel the service and I will find another company.

I found another company that was able to come out on a Sunday! This other company was AMAZING!!!! I will not mention them in this review but I will certainly be leaving them a GLOWING review!!!!!

Come to find out - I NEVER NEEDED A $395 CLEAN OUT!!!!!! The other company was able to snake the drain and get me back in working order in less than 2 hours. Further, they gave me a very realistic window for their arrival - unlike Mayes who said they would be there anytime between 10am-4pm and still didn't show up until 5!!!!! To be honest, as it pertains to the $395 clean out issue - I feel that I was targeted to pay extra out of pocket with this company because they saw I was a young, single, black female homeowner and assumed I wouldn't know any better! False!!!!

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! DO NOT USE THEM AT ALL! AND IF YOU HAVE AMERICAN HOME SHIELD, REQUEST A CASH OUT FIRST AND GO FIND YOUR OWN PLUMBER!!!!

The technician (in the video below) that was sent to my home did not follow COVID protocols.  He was VERY unprofessional, body language was threatening, and he was argumentative.  He was sent to me by American Home Shield Warranty.  BEWARE OF BOTH COMPANIES!!!!

Unfortunate first (and, I hope, only) experience with this company. Yet another sucker who bought AHS and had Mayes assigned. I can't tell you what the quality of their plumbing actually is because we never even got to them visiting our house -- they told us on the phone without performing a diagnostic that our issue would not be covered. When I politely informed them that I had the contract open and could say with certainty our issue was covered, I was told they've worked with AHS plenty and know the issue was not covered.

Welp. I just got off of a 1 hour call with AHS where they, in all Kafka-esque absurdity, that our leak could not be covered because the Mayes hadn't sent in their assessment (which wouldn't even do because they said AHS won't cover it...)

If only I could give them no stars.  Have a hot water heater issue that was called into my home warranty plan about a month ago.  They called me last week and said they were ready to install this past Monday.  Due to work conflict, I needed a tighter window that 8 am to 4 pm.  They scheduled me for 8-11 am today.  At a few minutes before they were to arrive, they called to tell me that my product was not in and that the driver was stuck in traffic.  They called me later that day to say the drive was stuck in a ditch and could not make it.  They then said, it was weather related and then that it was our warranty programs fault as they didn't deliver the item on time.  One excuse after another as to why they could not provide me with the service.  Their service fit right in with what everyone has been saying.  Don't waste your valuable time and ask for a different company when you call your home warranty.

So I called today to find out when the part would be installed only to be confronted by a lady who said they had refused to put my part order in because they read my review here. She kept yelling about the review and suggesting I forfeit my money and get another plumber to do the job. She also suggested that I called back AHS as she denied having heard back from them. I suggest you watch your back when reviewing them as they would try to spite you rather than attempt to remedy any issues you have. They also really do need better costumer service. its terrible.

Another terrible American Home Shield experience with Mayes. When making an appointment I was given a ridiculous 6 hour window 10a-4p on 5/24. I told the scheduler that I would not be available until 12:00 that day. I was told that I could schedule for another day a week away if I couldnt be there as waiting another week for my issue to be resolved was not ideal. Upon reconsideration, I said I could be home by 11:15. At no point did the scheduler mention a missed appointment fee. On 5/24 the technician arrived at my home around 10:20. He was not given the message that I would not be home til 11:15. As it would happen, I arrived home at 10:42, a few minutes after he left. I immediately called Mayes and was told they could reschedule for 5/31 but there was a $60 missed appointment fee which I had been told about when I scheduled and that the scheduler didnt say anything about my not being available until 11:15. A Mayes rep even called me back to specifically tell that they had listened to the recorded call between the scheduler and me and that he had told me about a missed appointment fee. I stated that this wasnt true and that I wanted to speak to a manager. This rep transferred me to the manager who backtracked and said that no, the scheduler didnt tell me about the missed appointment fee and acknowledged that yes, I had said I would not be available until 11:15. Yet she still wanted to charge me a missed appointment fee! I called AHS who told me that I was not to pay Mayes anything, that AHS was the customer and for them to ask me to pay anything out of pocket was in direct violation of their agreement, and that if they asked me to do so I should call them back. So, a week later 5/31, I wait around for hours to come to my re-scheduled appointment. He shows up and expects me to pay him $60 for the missed appointment. I tell him what I've been told by AHS, and he refuses to wait even 5 minutes for me to call AHS. He leaves immediately.  I have wasted 2 days on this company and been directly lied to and my plumbing issues haven't even been addressed. Super shady, had I seen all these negative reviews I would have rejected Mayes as my AHS servicer immediately. Suggestion to AHS customers- look up the contractors they want to send you before accepting them, and ask for more reputable companies if warrented.

We were sent this company by American Home Shield because the hot water heater broke. We put in a service request on Saturday 08/20/22 and received a call on Sunday 08/21/2022 that a technician would be out on Monday 08/22/2022. The technician came as scheduled on Monday and confirmed we needed out water heater replaced. They said they would be in touch with us but since that time we have not been able to reach the company even though we tried calling to get a timeline of when the work would be completed. We informed them it was an emergency  due to the fact that I am having a baby any day now and we needed everything expedited. Have not heard from the company since they came out. Even American Home Shield says they cannot reach the company. So now we are stuck!

C. Mays Plumbing was excellent.  I put in a request through American Home Shield.  They called me within hours of placing the request and came out the next day.  Bryan the technician did a fantastic job changing out my leaky pipe and valve.  It took him approx. 1/2 hour to complete and he was friendly and professional.  This is my second experience with C. Mays Plumbing and I will definitely use them again.

Worst experience I've ever had with a plumber. They came to my house six times to fix a single toilet, and it is still broken. The office people are rude and vague. Nightmare experience. At one point the office manager tried saying I was purposely breaking my own toilet, which was horrifyingly weird to hear from the company that I paid to fix my toilet. Literally a nightmare.

I read some of the other reviews. It seems that when this company is working through American Home Shield, they are awful. My experience was the same. My hot water heater was leaking. American home Shield sent them. I was told my share of the uncovered cost was over $800! I questioned that amount and the company manager said she would not do the job because I had the nerve to question their pricing. In the end. I wound up taking the cash out option from American home Shield. I would never do business with C Mayes. They jack up the non-covered costs and I knew it.
