Steer clear of them if you are using for Home Warranty Service.  They have come to my home twice to fulfill a service request through my home warranty plan and neither time did they fix the problem, but still charged the $75 fee.  The first time I was told by another plumbing company the incoming water pressure was too high and was causing a valve to leak that was failing also. When Advanced came the next day they said the pressure and the valve were fine and they were paid $75 to do nothing.  The second time involved another valve that the plumber applied a band-aid fix to momentarily stop the active leak (quarter turn of a wrench) and quoted me a price to truly fix it, then charged $75.  As of this morning, I have a flooded basement as the valve was in fact bad as reported by the original plumber.  I tried to contact Advanced to rectify the situation and they said they could be out tomorrow, meanwhile I have a flooded basement and a wife and kids with no hot water due to their negligence.  They should be removed from the Home Warranty service list as they are giving a bad name to the home warranty service company and ripping the customers off, or in my case causing thousands in damage for not doing the job they were contracted to do.  I have requested to the Home Warranty Service, they never service my home in the future.

Piling on to the negative reviews. Unresponsive, unprofessional, and didn't fix any of our plumbing issues. Got a ridiculous call from Heath saying I don't know what needs to be done here. Read the work order! There are sinks leaking, you are a plumber, please just fix them. We don't live at our property anymore (we live in FL now) and the plumbing issues are preventing us from selling our house.

Demanded a different plumber through AHS and not paying another service fee for work that wasn't completed. Getting a different plumber out of pocket. Thanks for nothing.

If I could give 0, I would. H&K was booked for some simple plumbing work through our home warranty with AHS. It took a series of phone calls to them before I was even able to set the appointment. When I finally got through, I set it three weeks in advance. They were due to my home last Friday and I'm still waiting on a call from them. They never showed, never answered my calls that day and never responded to the calls from AHS either. Add to that, when I did get someone on the phone in the beginning, they were hinging on rude and seemed annoyed that they had to speak to me. This is a terrible way to do business and I hope people steer clear of them.

Not sure why it says San Francisco, I'm in Baltimore.

Like others here, I had them come out through my home warranty company (AHS).  But unlike others, I had a good experience.  Quick and easy to reach out to me to schedule, and gave me a call when they were on their way.

In terms of the actual work, everything seems to be working well now.  They replaced the parts that were needed and now everything is working better than I've ever had since owning my house.

I had to write this to alleviate fears because I've had some terrible experiences with contractors through AHS and this was far and away one of the better experiences.  A lot of the other reviews seem nitpicky, but hey, they communicated well to me, quickly scheduled an appointment, and did the job I asked them to do, so what more can I say?

Another Customer through American Home Shield (AHS)... awful experience.  The guy showed up and I knew it was not going to be good.  

He had an attitude like it was a bother for him to be at my house.  The ejection pump needed to be checked and since there was no stop valve he said shit could go every where, recommended that I clear out the entire area and have a stop valve installed first.  He said once that was done that he could check the pump but more than likely something got stuck in the pump and it would need to be replaced.  He also said the pump was brand new which it wasn't and confirmed by another plumber.  

He gave me a quote to put in a stop valve and replace the pump...
Stop Valve - $900.00

New Pump - $800.00 (he said the pump AHS would provide wouldn't be worth anything, just builder grade so he said we would need to pay 800 to get a decent pump.  

TOTAL OF 1700.00 not counting my 75.00 service charge.  

So, I am sure most of you reading knew what I did next... called my own plumber who was able to install a brand new pump and the stop valve for $850.00 which included 2 trips to my house... first trip was to see what was going on.

We have no issue in paying a fair price.  We treat people with respect.  We have tons of patience.  This was just ridiculous.  

Also, AHS is a joke.  I called to complain and try to get my 75.00 for the service calls of H&K and to see if they would pay some of the cost of my plumber's bill and they said NO.  

Great customer service.  I even asked if I could email someone and they said that I had to send them a letter in the mail if I wanted to send in a complaint or have this looked into further.  

Good new is that I don't have to renew AHS and I know which plumber not to call if the need arises.

Ronnie and Tyler just left my condo building and I couldn't recommend them more! They were patient with the unique challenges of a condo/dealing with multiple units not answering the door, were courteous, wore masks, communicated what they were doing, including showing me the parts that were leaking and got the leaks fixed quickly.

Card is on my fridge for the next plumbing need/emergency and have let my neighbors know about him as well!

Lazy and unprofessional.... contracted through home insurance/warranties and they don't care about services!

They falsified work and repairs, and caused a lot of confusion and wasted money and time.

If you have a home warranty and they are referred I would think twice.

Directed to H & k through our home warranty company for a broken hot water heater. Left message on Saturday, 4 calls and 2 messages on Monday, 2 more calls on Tuesday with no answer, no return call.  Demanded a new company from our home warranty company!  The new company proceeded to tell us we could have had it repaired in 48 hours vs now have to wait almost a week waiting for H & K.  Their website states customer service is number 1 priority!  I read the reviews about great service etc?  I couldn't even get a return phone call? What a joke!!

Don't ever call or have do anything they trick you especially if you have a home warranty and you see there name for schedule call home warranty and cancel it believe me this is the right thing to do worst plumbing company ever

The techs were fast, efficient and professional. They were in and out in a half hour for a garbage disposal replacement. Couldn't have gone any better once they were here. Only one reason for not getting five star rating, tech came out last week and would not do the work because of a minor electrical issue that was easily repaired in less than five minutes. I know plumbers are not electricians but they do work with electrical equipment and I feel the rescheduling could have been avoided. Could be a company policy the tech did not want to violate so I'll give the tech a pass.

I can only speak for myself...
But my water heater went up and so we went through the warranty route and that was part of the hold up because they sent the wrong discipline to my home.
But once H&K came they assessed everything and gave me a time frame for when I could have it installed.
Of course I kept calling the warranty company because technically, they're the middle man, and the middle man can slow things up.
Nonetheless, H&K reception personnel was pleasant to talk with keeping me informed as well as up to date when my water heater was ordered.
It was a rough 2 weeks going without hot water but this is the process when you go through your warranty; all part of the game.
Last but not least, the total came down because they noted that I had parts that didn't need to be changed; work that H&k also did for me 3 years ago.

I called this establishment 6 times within 2 days and every time the message would go to voicemail, I left a few messages and no call back for a week. They finally called my roommate back a week later to schedule an appointment. They then proceeded to call our landlord and say we left rude messages after calling them 6 times?? Very odd way to run a business. Anyway it has been 3 weeks since their last visit and nothing has been done. I would not sign up for this plumbing service if you want your plumbing needs met conveniently or in a timely fashion.

These people were contracted out through my home warranty company and when I called to to confirm it took at least 5 times calling before actually getting to talk to a human. When the human did answer she was RUDE and asked very loudly so um it says won't drain what's that mean once she decided to listen attentively I asked to reschedule my appointment. Nothing available for another week so I kept that appointment. Then life happened and I need to reschedule again I called their office at least 5 times DURING BUSINESS HOURS, no answer. So I left a message asking to reschedule. I never received an email or call back. Next thing I know another pluming company call me saying my home owners insurance company has contracted them. Again never got any feedback from H&K. I can't comment on their actual service since they never came but as far as customer service and efficiency they get an F.

I agree with other reviewers that their phone service is somewhat lacking however once you get through to them the work they do is fantastic. They level with you about what the problem is and give you options with pros and cons to each and don't pressure you into choosing any particular one. They also work quickly and carefully and I was thoroughly impressed with them from start to finish.

Horrible, awful customer service. Would never call them again. I left work in a rush when they called to tell me the technician was on the way - then the technician wasn't even there when I got home. He had already come and left, even though I let the operator know how long I would be, and we had spoken about my situation and I let her know the time window would be difficult for me, that I was at work, and would have to leave. Then she refused to ask him to come back, even though according to his note I arrived two minutes after he left. I could still see his location from the tracking page they sent me and he was a few blocks away. But she refused to even ask him to come after his next appointment. Doesn't seem like they care about their customers at all.

Terrible service. The techs were pleasant, but they stated I'd need a part for one of the repairs, and it would take 10-12 business days. It's now been over a month. No one from the company has reached back to me, despite me having to call and follow up for a month.

Meanwhile, the other issues (leaks, and a complete stoppage) that didn't require parts continue to be an issue, because they never returned to address those as they needed to see if the work was covered by American Home Shield. AHS said that H&K should have known that all the work was covered, and should have addressed what they could. Still no response from H&K after a month, and my plumbing is still all messed up. They did nothing!

If I could I would give a negative zero review.  Called our home warranty to frepair of a leaky trap pipe under our utility sink. Appointment was set and the rep was on time. Thing is the rep say that if he  can replace the pipe but if we plug the sink the crack could happen again. And said we need a new sink, faucet and the pipe for $800. He explained to home warranty that the sink was faulty I'll say the sink is old but it isn't broken just fix the pipe.  We don't have $800.  Of course warranty denies the pipe getting fixed.  $75 for nothing .  Thing is I called another plumber they are fixing replacing the sink the faucet and the pipe for $300.  Don't use H&K they are no good.  I'm getting rid of Home warranty also paying $59 a month for them to deny service and not to send good repair companies.

You know I'm not going into a long spill because it's really not necessary. Bottom line up front, they didn't fix the leaking pipes they claimed to fix. They blamed the water heater leak on the house foundation, which the structural engineer verified that the foundation was and is solid. Then on top of that they lied to my home warranty company about a toilet issue they didn't want to fix by saying the inside parts of the toilet were manually broken, because you can't have wear and tear on a 30yr toilet.
Like CORONA don't let them in your house, nothing good can come from it!

This business probably has better service most of the time, so I'm going to go out of my way and say this is probably an isolated incident.

I had a service call this plumber for a repair on my behalf. The service was supposed to relay information about repair coverage they did not. This is not complaining about that however.

I got a verbal quote for a total. However, once the repair is done, they conveniently forget that the initial service change was not included in that total. I called the office after and they did offer to correct, which I accepted.

However, I got a call from their plumber who left a nasty message after the fact, so I'm not making this a perfect rating. They did try.

The repair job was okay from what I could tell.

I was referred to H&K through AHS for a leak in my ceiling. Before the tech came there was NO hole in my ceiling. When the tech got here he needed to cut an access hole. By the time he fixed the leak there was a gaping hole left in my ceiling. He actually said, Boy I made a big hole before he left. I called AHS to have the contractor to come and repair the damage that H&K made and after that tech came I was told that they needed authorization to fix the hole. When AHS contacted H&K for authorization they had the audacity to LIE AND TELL THEM THAT THEY MADE NO ACCESS HOLE IN MY CEILING.
3 weeks later I am still trying to get all of this sorted out.

They are the absolute worst!! They came out and looked at the problem and had to come back.  I CALLED for 4 days straight and I left messages and no one called me back!!! They should not handle dogs let alone someone's plumbing!

Terrible experience, I would give them negative stars if possible. After being assigned to H & K by our home warranty company, Heath and one other guy came out to look at an issue with a shower knob. They were extremely unprofessional - they used fowl language, and even accused us of breaking the parts. It was evident that they just wanted to go home and were not interested in helping. All of the other reviews pretty much sum it up - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! If your home warranty company selects them, I would highly recommend asking for someone else!

DO NOT USE!!! Unresponsive and they did nothing to resolve my issue. I had a contract with American Home Shield (AHS) and they were the contractor assigned to fix my water heater and a leaky pipe. THEY DID NOTHING!! They claimed they needed to order a part which after TWO WEEKS still never came. I called several times to get an update and no response. I went almost a month with NO HOT WATER in my home and no response/runaround from AHS and H&K. I had to call another company who came right out and fixed my issue. SAVE YOURSELF some heartache and GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY!!!

Property management hired this company to come out on the weekend to fix an over flowing toilet at my rental home. Turns out that all that needed to be replaced was a fill valve. If you are not familiar on what it takes to replace a fill valve I suggest you google it to get some context. Bottom line up front, it's not a hard job. I was charged for 2 1/2 of work to replace it! Mind you the tenant had already cleaned up the water, so all that was done is replacement of the valve. I have no quarrel with the amount they charged per hour, $189, since it was the weekend. My issue is the amount of time they claimed it took to replace it. I am still waiting for the owner to give me a call back to explain to me how it took their professional plumber 2 1/2 hours to fix the issue. I would have fixed it myself in less than an hour, but I live outside of the state. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your plumbing needs.

These guys are totally unreliable. They came to my house from a home warranty claim, lied about what they found, did NOT fix anything, then told the home warranty company otherwise.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!! First of all, do not come to my house saying what's above your pay grade,, if you can not do the job just say that from the beginning!! Being arrogant, cocky and UNPROFESSIONAL is not a good look for a legit plumbing company. We are very disappointed and disgusted  in the service we received today from the owner of the company. It is very unfortunate to deal with poor customer service with no outcome. Thanks a lot!

This was my second time working with this company in the last few years and the first time was satisfactory but this time was outstanding.  The her I spoke with on the phone was attentive to my concerns and very accommodating.   I had Cole this time and he gave me advance notice he was on his way and arrived on time.  He evaluated the problem and completed the job quickly.  Cole had a very pleasant manner and was a diligent young man.   It was a pleasure having him in my house and he did an excellent job.
This company has been around for many years and I highly recommend using them.

I was given a 9 am appointment; they never came; I called several times; one person said I had a window of 8:30 am - 10:30 pm; another said diff. I scheduled my time for 9:00 am. I was told that they will get to me by then because they are driving from Timonium. I called at 9:20 am to find out if they are on their way; no answer so I left a message. I called 30 minutes later; no answer so I left a message. I called 5 minutes later to let them know that I had to leave for work. I received an email 15 min later indicating that they are on their way. I received a call from the owner letting me know that he was on his way. I told him that I had to leave. He told me that they do not schedule a specific time. I explained over and over again that I was NOT given a window or I would not have scheduled because I had interviews to conduct at work that I could NOT reschedule. He cut me off several times and did not have good listening skills. Meanwhile, I received a message from their office and she said they were on their way. I called her back and told her the same thing. She said that they schedule a 8:30 am - 10:30 am window time which conflicted with what the owner told me. I explained that she didn't give me a window. And, that my admin listened to the convo since it was on speaker so that she could manage my calendar. This all took place 2/14/18. This was through AHS. The owner through AHS under the bus saying that they make them schedule the window time. AHS indicated that wasn't true and that they control their own scheduling. All a mess!!!! The next morning, I was billed $75 because they told AHS that they came to my house and I wasn't there. VERY untrue! FALSE! I have 2 outside security cameras that will prove that they never came. My neighbors do as well and they too can prove that they never came. VERY unethical and extremely bad customer service. It was hard to get a word in because they constantly interrupted me trying to prove me wrong.

My home warranty company referred them to me for plumbing issue.
I called them three days in a row to reschedule, no one answered.  Meanwhile I called home warranty company and have customer service called for rescheduling.  Miracle happened, customer service was able to hold of them right away.  I don't know how they repair things because they never came.  I ended up getting different plumber to fix the issue I had.

I don't relish having to write a negative review. However, I feel like H&K tried to scam me for unnecessary repairs.

I called my home warranty company for a leaking pipe under my bathroom sink. They sent out H&K to repair it. The call fee was $75.

The two plumbers took a cursory look at it proclaiming that I had a crappy faucet and it needed to be replaced. They contacted the warranty company which said that the new faucet would not be covered. H&K told me it would be $260 for a new faucet and installation. I would have had them install it right then and there but they did not have a faucet in their truck that matched my fixtures.

They texted me photos of 2 faucets they had in stock which I didn't like, then said I could order a faucet through them, then said I couldn't, and suggested I buy on my own but it would be inferiority quality to the one they had.

I decided not to hire them and asked my handy neighbor if he could install the faucet for me. He took one look at it, and turned a knob under the stopper and within 10 seconds my leak was gone. No faucet replacement required.

It would have been one thing to pay $75 to have them come out and turn a knob, but to try to up sell me into paying an extra $260 is a complete and total scam. Shame on you H&K!

This company was assigned to me by American Home Shield for a basement, laundry sink stoppage. The guys came out and told me I would need a clean out installed in the pipe to clear the stoppage. AHS informed me that the clean out installation would not be covered. I contacted H&K to inquire about the cost of the installation, and I also decided to get quotes from 2 other companies on Angie's List. I had another plumber come out the same day, and they found that I actually did have a clean out pipe. It was low to the ground and partially covered by my washing machine. H&K would have known this if the plumbers who came out did more than stand 5 feet back while looking at the pipe and sink. The second company was able to clear the stoppage by simply snaking the clean out and was done in under an hour. H&K caused me to spend more money than I should have, and AHS is refusing to reimburse any expenses. Do not waste your time with this company.

I love that the contractors have a real passion for what they do! They assess the problem, ordered the parts and came and installed without all of the up selling! When a person knows their craft and there is a need, you do not need to up sell customers! Richard and Cole work well together and as the face of this business they represent it well! I will recommend them to everyone and I will not hesitate to call on them again for any of my plumbing needs. Timely, respectful, and courteous as well as being about their business and not over complicating things was a real blessing! I cannot say enough about this company. Do yourself a favor and call them with your plumbing needs. They truly are a blessing to me!

This is the best plumbing company in Maryland! These guys are great with communication and can tackle difficult plumbing issues. If you need plumbing services, this is the company to call. I had a difficult leak in my condo in Baltimore City. The condo association was of no help. The only team that took this plumbing issue seriously was H & K. I can't express enough about how great this company is. I will be telling all my friends and fellow landlords about this company.

The technician (I believe Kevin?) who came was very friendly, polite, and on time. He also taught me a few things about other plumbing questions I had while he was there. He was able to isolate the issue very quickly and was very careful about the cleanliness of his work (covered his shoes, wore gloves and made sure there was no mess from the repairs).

Their secretary was also very timely in calling me to setup the appointment and was very pleasant. I had to setup 2 different appointments - the first time I cancelled because of some personal scheduling issues that came up and the secretary was very understanding and gave me some things to consider and how to setup the next appointment. I found them very helpful and I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

Referred by our home warranty and had an appointment on Friday afternoon to fix a leak in sink shut off valve and a faucet that was not working properly.
Technicians arrived at 4;45 pm and from the beginning when they entered the house they wanted to find a way not to do the job and made excuses, so after 15 minutes they said we are going to call the home warranty company and they left and the leak in our bathroom that needed to change the valve still leaking and we have to make another appointment and get out of work and wait for another four hours. They are unprofessional and I will not hire them to work for us. I think you should not use this company.
