Friend's Plumbing

I called Friend's Plumbing, and requested a plumber, and asked if one could be here at 3:00.  He arrived nearly 4 hours later.

Friend's Plumbing installed a water tank, that I bought at Home Depot.
The plumber said he would be installing an 'expansion tank', due to whatever.  I said that I was planning on changing to a tankless system in the near future, and didn't want the expansion tank.  He said that was fine, but that I would have to sign some waiver, saying I didn't want it. I said that was okay. He said it would have cost me $100.00 to include that.     For a tank that I provided, and work that I prepared before he came, such as: removing the electrical power from old tank; draining old tank; and having new tank ready to move into place, he quoted me a price of 595.51, to install MY tank.  I was in construction for over 35 years, and worked with many plumbers, and could not fathom such a price, for an hour's work.  But my water was off, and couldn't come back on, until a tank was installed, so I gave him the go ahead.

When he came to say he was done, and I went out to see the work, I saw that he went ahead and installed the expansion tank, that I expressly said I did not want.  He said he felt better, doing that.  He said he tossed that in.  BULLSHIT !!!  He didn't give me that 100 buck? tank out of the goodness of his heart...he had the price already included in his quote.

He was here, doing the job that he was actually supposed to be doing, for barely over an hour.  I won't  count the extra time it took him to install that expansion tank, that I said I did not want.

Also, did not give me any 'senior discount', as offered on their website.

I will NEVER  use this company again.

We have been using Friends for years and will continue to do so.  Bobby came over this morning to fix our leaking tub and did the usual professional job.  He was personable and efficient.  Great rate and service.

By far one of the best experiences I've had in customer service in a long time.  They were right on time, showed me the prices before I agreed to the service and treated my home with such dignity.  Covering shoes before entering each time he had to go outside.  Friendly technician and did an amazing job at such a reasonable price.  I don't normally write reviews but I am so grateful for the service they provided, I couldn't let it go unnoticed.
Hats off to a great company that I would recommend before any other plumbing company.  Thank you for the great customer service.  If you live anywhere in Clearwater, I would call them first.

I am so happy to have our tub drain running again. Whew! It wasn't a simple clog down the line but required a lot more than running a snake down the drain. As usual, Friend's sent a plumber ready to do the dirty work to get the job done.

We had a leak under the kitchen sink. I was pretty sure it was the garbage disposal which is less than 5 years old and no longer under warranty. Friend's sent Nicky Woods out to check it out and he confirmed my suspicions. He got a new one installed for a reasonable price and we are dry again. It took one call in the morning and he was here by 3. Good job Friends.

Friend's was dishonest about pricing and how they go about their business.  The good news is they drove us to a different company that we will be using from now on.  There are soooo many better options out there!

Reached out for a quote to replace a hot water heater,

The quote with the member discount was $1690, It's ok if that's the best offer, but the employee said this is the best price around, no one could do lower.

Went elsewhere and got a quote for $600 dollars lower.

Would definitely recommend to look at multiple quotes, because they were on the higher end.

Also buy your own Hot Water heater, Lowes and HD have many in stock, no need to spend +$500 more for whatever they were charging.

Sucks i had to spend $75 but in the end, saving $525 is a much better feeling.

Terrible, was not charged the price quoted over the phone.  They have two different rates, standard and value.  In order to get the value rate, which I was quoted over the phone, you must buy a 69.00 service plan.  Do yourself a favor, avoid these crooks.

Had a clogged toilet, after 4 different times and 3 days later that they showed up finally got a toilet to flush, still not right.  After they left I noticed a bottle of pills missing, called the police and filed a report, called Friends to talk to a Manager, never heard back from them.  They will not be coming back to my house.  Not sure which of the 4 different people that come out took them, but someone did.  Narcotics department has the case now.  I should have known from all the different prices that I was given, and all the different people they sent out that they were going to get me one way or another.  And the youngest guy that was there kept walking into my house not wearing his mask, I kept having to remind him.

We have used Friends for almost 20 years. We have a guest house built in 1884 and parts of the main house date back to 1948. While much is new some is very old and challenging. While this may not make us everyone's favorite customer, it is has made Friends our only plumbing service. Nothing has been so antiquated or old fashioned that they couldn't resolve our problems at very fair charges. Yes Dan knows us, but so do Ryan and Mario and problems are always resolved with clear explanations, suggestions for avoiding repeat incidents, and prompt service when needed.

We have used Friend's Plumbing for over 20 years and the plumbers have always been very competent, professional, and pleasant, too. Today Bobby came to replace a garbage disposal and he was efficient, and knowledgeable.  He even captured a lizard that had gotten into the kitchen, and released it outside! (Thanks Bobby!)

Excellent service. Had a leaking toilet, and it was leaking onto my toilet. They responded the same day and fixed everything. The price was very reasonable. They were fast and clean. They removed the toilet and replaced all seals. No leak!! Highly recommend them. Very pleased, thank you

Had a underground pipe leak and friends plumbing came to the rescue. Doc was a true professional and extremely nice guy. It took him most of the day but he did amazing work and would recommend to anyone

Called this AM because our main sewage line was blocked. Bobby came out promptly (the first 15 minutes of the time window they gave us) and fixed the problem, plus a couple other minor issues we were having with our master bathroom. He was quick and efficient. This is the second time we used Friend's plumbing - we will use them again, and request Bobby!

We had a clogged drain and we thought they fixed it, price $460.00. We had to call them back two weeks later, it wasn't fixed. They then quoted a new price, for work they didn't complete, but we agreed to that price since they were going to now use a camera but the final bill was $200.00 more!!!!

Had Friends install a kitchen faucet.  Evidently not installed properly so faucet started spinning since it was loose.  I called Tom & asked if someone could tighten the faucet...he said sure, for $75.  Had several jobs done by this company--they obviously don't care about repeat customer.  Too many good cos out there to put up with lousy service.

I normally use another plumbing company, but my home has a hot water heater installed by and with a warranty from Friend's.
The technician was courteous and informative. (Thank you for wearing shoe coverings. I love this!)

The problem that I originally called for and explained in full was not addressed or even notated to the technician. The tech told me that they don't even handle the problem that I called for,,,, What a waste of time and money!!!!

My parents had extensive problems with their water softener which created multiple problems and issues throughout the house. Darius and David came through with top notch service, professionalism, and the knowledge to solve each and every problem. These guys take pride in their work and it shows. I just had some work done by their associate Bobby.   He was AMAZING!  Friendly, honest, accurate work delivered in a timely manner.  He walked me through each step before he started, and never left me wondering what was next.  He even made a suggestion on how I might fix another problem.  What a pleasure!

It was New Years Eve and the worst tragedy happened.  My wedding ring was accidentally flushed down the toilet.  It was awful.  It was valuable but the emotional value was priceless.  It fell at the end of the flush but it was gone.  We stopped all water use in the bathroom and called Friends Plumbing New Years Day.  Jeremy was our New Years miracle.  He removed the toilet and stuck a camera down the pipe.  I burst into tears when I saw my ring.  He struggled and fought with the pipe, the ring ,the vac and everything.  About 2 hours later he finally pulled it out.  Yes it was a miracle.

Did not send plumber I requested over the phone. Having a worker who has been helpful and courteous in the past is important!

These guys are the most trustworthy of all plumbers I have ever dealt with!! Thank you Friends Plumbing we will always be loyal!

Super Dave W. did an awesome job replacing our old leaking water heater on a Friday afternoon. He single handedly picked up our old heater and installed the new one up on a shelf in our garage which is no small feat. He replaced two leaking valves and was very professional. Price was very reasonable. We won't hesitate in the future to call Friends Plumbing in Oldsmar when we need plumbing repairs.

Took care of the job efficiently and tried to do the minimum required to keep costs down.  Very knowledgeable and experienced.

How often does an encounter with a Plumber make you want to run to your computer and write a positive review?  This will be a first for me.  Friend's Plumbing and especially Dave Welk inspired me to do it.

They came at the appointed time, and immediately went to work.  Dave Welk left my plumbing malfunction much better off than it was even before it malfunctioned.  The work was done in a professional and courteous manner.  I didn't even cringe when Dave presented me with the bill.  Now that's a first in my close encounters of the plumbing kind!

I can't recommend these guys high enough.  I'm told that you can even request Dave Welk by name and have a very good chance of having him assigned to your job.

Friend's gives great, prompt, friendly service. The techs are always nice and let you know whatever is going on every step of the way. Easy to schedule with and has emergency service on the weekends. Reasonably priced!

If I could rate them 10 stars, I would. In the first place I called for a toilet repair at 11:30 am and by 2:30 pm the plumbers had arrived. By 3:43, they had completed the job. They came into our home with shoe covers so our home remained clean. While I had started the toilet and tank repair, I encountered problems caused with a broken plastic flange that was glued to the PVC pipe. George and David quickly went about undertaking the necessary repairs and resetting what was a previously wobbly toilet and tank. The grout work along the base of the toilet was professionally done, making it look as if new. Both George and his assistant, David, were professional and amicable. While prior reviews reference another plumber from Friend's Plumbing, I would highly recommend George. Obviously, Friend's Plumbing is a good, reliable company. Roberto R.

Each year after the initial visit Friends Plumbing sends out a reminder card to their clients to schedule an annual plumbing inspection. This year was no different and today Friends Plumbing first called to verify and then arrived at the house exactly at the time promised. In addition to the inspection I also wanted my water filer changed; a new spout installed on the kitchen sink for the filtered water; and the toilet flush valve and flapper replaced. I had already purchased some of the special order items and Friends Plumbing carried everything else that was needed right on the truck, The repairman was courteous, clean in his work, professional, and cheerful. It took him a little under two hours for all the jobs and the price was extremely fair, especially with the senior and military discount. I highly recommend Friends Plumbing. We will be calling on them again.

WOW!  We are so thankful for the outstanding job that Friend's Plumbing employees Jon and Chris did for us!  Our water heater was leaking.  Not a good thing.  They came out the same morning I called and cleaned up the mess it caused and did a perfect job of installing the new one.  They we're so professional, nice and kind!  I have used Friend's for several jobs and have always been pleased.  A big thanks!

I would never hire this company.  I'm very disappointed in their handling of an ongoing situation at our condominium community.  I don't believe they accurately diagnosed the problem and therefore, after several years, the situation is still unresolved.

Absolutely the best service! We've used Friend's before and needed their services today. George was the plumber who came out. He was clean, thorough and friendly. The price was very reasonable. I highly recommend Friend's Plumbing!

Wasted two days of waiting and nothing.  Spoke to Rebecca on 9/10 and made an appointment for 9/11 from 9am-3pm.  If I had not called at 2pm (9/11), no one would have come out because we weren't on their schedule.  Finally, someone came (with attitude) and from the beginning was refusing to even look at the issue.  2 other technicians arrived with no resolution.  The person who initially arrived, without fixing the issue or anything, tells me well that will be $191.00 for nothing.  I asked, you are charging me for what? Response from the tech as he turns to the other tech I love when they (customers) ask me that question - I paid them via check and called the office.  Again, spoke with Rebecca who apologized and would have someone come out 9/12 1:30-3pm to at least get your water running temporarily.  AGAIN, we had to call at 3:15pm because no one had arrived or a call.  Finally, spoke with Rebecca an hour after my 3:15 call we are running behind but will have someone there today.  Well, its 7:12pm an no one arrived or called.  I had to call REBECCA from another number (they were ignoring my calls) to get someone on the phone.  I was again given the runaround and excuses but no solution.  TWO WASTED DAYS with no water because of their lack of customer service and professionalism.  Will NEVER USE THEM! OH THEY ARE NOT 24/7 - LIES!!!

Been using them for years. Not super cheap but reliable.  I new when I called for two things I would find more repairs. My father is getting old well sorry I mean he is old and is not noticing about potential harming leaks!
Dave came out and everything he fixed was to code and brass not plastic like the developer provided during the construction of the house !!
I will cont to use because of good work .

We had a clogged drain in the kitchen.  Called one company who could come out in 2 days.  Called Friend's based on reviews here.  Nicky came out within 2 hours and snaked our drain.  He stayed long enough to make sure it was fully cleared.  Will call them again if we ever have problems.

A few days after this review I wish I could give lower. I heard the plumbing staff saying (doors are very thin) they could not locate the problem and couldnt get it to go down. This was around 3pm, they left the site around 4pm. Around 5pm there was raw sewage backing up into my kitchen and bathroom, after a few frantic calls to my leasing manager who also handled it poorly a plumber showed up about an hour later. Now I am at a loss for personal property.

Mario came first thing this morning, on time, professional, extremely helpful and fair. He even helped with a leak I didn't realize I had in my teenagers bathroom because they don't tell me and I won't go in there . He had to snake 3 lines outside and fix a dripping faucet. Price was extremely fair, nothing extra and super nice guy. Would highly recommend them

Not sure who drives their business van but this van cut us off & proceeded to give us the middle finger after. Will keep this type of attitude in mind to NOT use this company. Rude.

Extremely pleased with the service I received yesterday!  Bill & Alex came out to do a leak detection test for us.  We received notification from the water company that our usage was extremely high and that more than likely we had a leak somewhere.   I was informed of pricing for the test up front which I liked being informed ahead of time.  When Bill & Alex came here, before getting any equipment out, they checked every faucet, toilet & spicket.  They looked at my water meter & water softener as well.   They determined that I, in fact, did not have a leak anywhere and that my softener was apparently malfunctioning causing it to stay in regeneration mode.  Bill reset everything to the appropriate settings for me and showed me exactly what to look for on the softener and the meter to see if it starts happening again.  As of today, it is still working properly!  I could have very easily been taken advantage of (knowing I didn't have a clue about any of it!)  but these guys were 100% up front and honest with me.  Didn't charge me for the detection test that they originally came out for because it wasn't needed.  I was only charged a value rate service call.  (Which saved me a lot of $!)  I wish I could give 10 stars!  Thank you Friend's Plumbing for honest, trustworthy work!  I've found the company I will call again and refer friends and family to!

The company sent several guys out to reroute the main line coming into the house due to a leak under a large oak tree.  Spent several hours trenching (destroying) our yard and cutting our cable line in several places before finally giving up on the reroute and just trying to fix the actual leak instead.  Claimed to have repaired the leak, tried to hand me a $1125 bill.  I asked the lead guy if he had verified the water meter was no longer spinning so we'd know it had actually been repaired, he hadn't.  Low and behold, it was still spinning and he tells me we have a second leak.  This was why they were suppose to reroute the line to begin with and not just fix the leak.  So, after much to do with even the owner of the company coming out to see what they could do to rectify the problem, we ended up going with a different company.  For literally half the price ($613), he was able to reroute the line and didn't destroy our yard in the process.  Great for all those who have had a good experience with Friend's but we, unfortunately, were not one of them.

Don't call Friend's Plumbing!  I called and made an appointment for them to install bathtub fixtures and a new toilet.  They said they would be here between 3 and 5.  They never showed up and didn't have the decency to call me and apologize.  Talk about unprofessional and rude.  Needless to say, I would never recommend them to anyone!

toilet not flushing properly. Asked for Dave to respond...as he did a GREAT job last time.  Unfortunately, Dave has moved back to Ohio.
Was given the dreaded 3 hour window 1-4 pm on Thursday.  Called the office at 3:50...was told they were running behind. Employee, Nickie called, per my request, and FINALLY showed up at 4:45....You cant even show up on time...within 3 hours?? Nickie checked the toilet and said for him to use the auger, it would be $139.  If that did not fix the problem, he would have to snake the line, an add'l expense. While Nickie was augering with the 6 foot line he told me, that his ticket stated that  he was not supposed to show up until AFTER 4 pm. I told him that was CRAZY.  After augering the toilet bowl, with the shorter/ 6 foot line 3-4 times, which took him 20-30 mins (max) he did not get any roots or other debris from the toilet.  The toilet was flushing slightly better (maybe 10-15% tops) but was still obviously not working properly. Nickie then told me that the next step was to auger the sewer line which would be over $400!! Talk about CRAZY. I can buy a brand new toilet for...what...less than $200?  When Nickie returned from his van with my bill...he explained that he had checked his ticket for me...it did say 1-4 pm, that it was the customer BEFORE me that requested after 4 pm What??? Another lie on top of the first lie. Nickie did reduce my bill from $139 to $99.50...but ...as I politely explained to him...I was very UNHAPPY with FRIEND'S...1) they arrived 45 mins late, 2) NEVER FIXED MY TOILET 3) LIED to me. Why would I be satisfied??  Right after he left, I tried flushing a small piece of toilet paper...and it would not flush. :(  I won't be using FRIEND'S ever again. STAY AWAY!
