I have been a customer of John Nugent & sons for multiple years. They have always come through for me - especially their tech JASON YIM. He came today to do my cooling system checkup - and solved problems I didn't know I had. This man really knows his business - worked smoothly and professionally - and respected my home and yard. The A/C is a blessing in this awful heat. I am so pleased I was smart enough to hire John Nugent & Sons - and have Jason at the door!
For those who complained Nugent didn't show up on time nor called - it is okay to remember Techs also have to respond to emergency calls - especially for heat. Before you are late for dinner, be glad they still were there to handle your needs.
Service is great! All the people are great. I love seeing the same people who come service my air conditioner and furnace.
I have been using John Nugent for about 5 years. They don't find something wrong just to make money like that other big group that I refuse to use ever again. I can't think of their names. But I will let you know.
For the exact same service, the cost went from $269 on Nov 23, 2021 to $394 on Jul 21, 2023 -- that's a 46.5% increase. I know we have had inflation in the past couple of years, but didn't think is was even close to 50%.
And in addition, in 2021 there was no Service Call Fee (or it was waived when I spent $269 on services). Now there is a $95 Service Call Fee. I could understand charging me the Service Call Fee if the technician shows up and I then decide I need no work done. But this time I spend nearly $400 on services and still have to pay the $95 Service Call Fee?
I think I'll look around for other plumbing services.
Technician (Micheal) was great -- knowledgeable, quick, polite/professional.

Don't expect them to honor their appointments. They can't follow simple directions, like calling before coming to an appointment.

Wow, talk about some clean pipes. Stephen came on over, I had a huge back up. He said the job may have taken 15 minutes but he was in and out in 10.

I have used this plumbing company twice to clean our tankless water heater and was pleased with their service. When we decided to renovate a bathroom, I called them to ask them if they could do the plumbing and was assured they could. I made an appointment for them to give an estimate and was told there would be a $95.00 fee. I then asked if that would be applied to the final cost. Initially they said no but when I said other companies did so they said they would also apply it to the final bill, which I estimated at about $3,000 for installing shower components.
On the day of the estimate I was waiting for the estimator when there came a loud knock on a door from our screened porch in the back of our house leading to our family room. The man wearing a Nugent shirt told me he couldn't find the front door. I invited him in and my son and I showed him the bathroom as well as a drawing of what and where we wanted the parts installed. He asked no questions and took some pictures and told us he would send us an estimate by 5:30 pm that day or the next. I verified my email, which he had on his paperwork.
Long story I know. In short we never heard from him or anyone else at the company. It's been more than a month, we now have another plumbing company and work is under way. I am amazed that they sent someone who couldn't find our front door and that neither he nor anyone else at this family owned since 1975 company has contacted me. Is it because I asked about the estimate fee? Jeez.

Doug came out to our home to evaluate the electrical needs for a new wall oven. He called 30 minutes prior to arrival. He was on time, professional, and quick. I would certainly recommend John Nugent U& Sons in the future and will make sure to endorse their work on our neighborhood website. Excellent experience.

I am incredibly pleased with the service. My life has been crashing around this autumn, and this plumbing problem was just yet another on that large pile.
I'd originally contacted another plumbing service, who charged me around $300 for leak detection (there was no teardown of any sort at the time). The original plumber explained that it would cost me at least $1000 to fix everything (including pipes). With his initial assessment and some advice, I looked for a remediation service.
The remediation specialist then told me that I wouldn't need such levels of service, probably, and that maybe I ought to call a different plumbing service, as the first plumber's standards were not industry standard.
So I did.
I called several, and eventually ended up with John Nugent & Sons.
Shawn came out, took a look, and then fixed the faucet, telling me what I needed to look out for. He answered many questions I had regarding the faucet and shower, and even helped me out with the shower drain.
He charged me around $200 total. He also said I didn't need to replace any pipes. So he saved me quite the headache and money.
If we have any more plumbing concerns, we will be calling on John Nugent & Sons, and I will specifically be asking for Shawn. Thank you so much for helping me out during this rough time.
I am very pleased with response and service by Nugent and Sons.
They replaced an 18 year old Air Handler which was in a tight closet - and also replaced a rusting hot water heater.
They created the proposal quickly and the prices were very fair.
The work took most of a day and I was very impressed by the Nugent staff - they were very pleasant and professional. The installation quality reflects their attention to detail.
I will certainly call them again.

We are so pleased with John Nugent & Sons. We haves used them for AC/heating since our move into our house and have always been pleased with the service. Today I called them about plumbing, specifically a recently discovered brake/leak between the laundry room and bathroom. Not only did RL and an assistant come over but they determined & fixed the issue with a couple hours. I am just so pleased. The whole process was much, much less painful than expected.
John Nugent is now on my favorites phone numbers list
What an awesome company! They sent Dave and Jorge, who were absolute kind professionals. They blew our minds with their professionalism and the care they took installing our kitchen hood vent. Thank you for every bit of effort you put into our new home. We appreciate you and will recommend you to everyone we know!!
I had an issue where my furnace was intermittently shutting off the heat - it was a really strange issue where it would work sometimes and heat would emanate and then sometimes it wouldn't, even if the thermostat was freezing cold. The technician, Jason, came and surmised after analyzing the furnace that there weren't issues with the furnace itself. He believed there were condensation issues and worked on the condensation pipe, cutting it to facilitate proper clearing.
Unfortunately, after he left, the issue continued. I called John Nugent and they sent him back. We were stumped. He and I had a conversation and we followed the pipe through my house to the outside - then he figured out what the issue was! It was a little tricky to diagnose, but Jason was very patient and took the time to try to explain his thinking on the problem as our thinking evolved on the issue. I had a really good experience with John Nugent, and would have them back again as a result.

There is no other way to summarize my review other than John Nugent & Sons tried to fraudulently sell my 91-year-old mother a new furnace. They did this in the most despicable way possible, by injecting fear into her mind. Fear that her furnace was emitting carbon monoxide levels that were unsafe, as well as the ludicrous claim that flame roll-out from the furnace was a possibility. They came out on a service call for a furnace that had died. The technician replaced the igniter and fixed the problem. Then he performed some carbon monoxide measurements following a protocol that I had never seen before.
I've been in the homebuilding and residential construction consulting business all my life. More importantly, for ten years (2009- 2020) I was an accredited building scientist, holding the Building Performance Institute Building Analyst designation. BPI is the leading residential building science accreditation for people working on existing homes. BPI-BAs are trained to perform Combustion Appliance Zone Safety Testing, commonly referred to as a CAZ test. This is testing on atmospheric drafting (as opposed to sealed combustion) appliances such as furnaces and water heaters. I write this review to both warn people away from John Nugent & Sons and to direct consumers to independent experts who can assess their atmospheric drafting appliances correctly, and without the inherent conflict of interest of a company that wants to sell you a new furnace no matter how big a lie they must tell the consumer. Google home energy auditors or simply go the BPI website and search for these folks by state.
The John Nugent & Sons technician, using a testing protocol that is nowhere to be found in any BPI testing, measured 15 ppm of carbon monoxide in my mom's home and told her that per company policy he had no choice but to turn off the furnace and provide her with space heaters until she had her furnace replaced. He tried to scare her into thinking this was a serious health concern. He went one step further in his fear tap and dance by mentioning the possibility of flame roll-out. Flame roll-out is the worst outcome of severe back drafting of an atmospherically drafting gas appliance. I was there listening to this and since I know how leaky (ie- drafty) this house is I knew from experience that you could likely never cause this furnace to back draft.
The CAZ testing protocol to assess if there's a carbon monoxide danger from atmospherically drafting gas appliances is complicated but suffice to say John Nugent & Sons did none of these steps. They include testing for a baseline atmospheric pressure, spillage and draft, as well as putting the entire house into a state to induce a worst-case depressurization scenario. These tests must be performed and given a Pass/Fail determination (with the exception of the baseline pressure), in order to assess the carbon monoxide levels. John Nugent & Sons did none of this and tried to pass themselves off as experts and scare her into buying a new furnace.
Two days after this incident I was able to get a BPI- Building Analyst into my mom's home to perform a CAZ test. Now remember, Nugent & Sons measured 15 ppm carbon monoxide and told my mom they needed to immediately turn off the furnace and replace it. Carbon monoxide detectors don't trip unless they measure 70 ppm of carbon monoxide over 1-4 hours, or 150 ppm over 10-50 minutes, or 400 ppm over 4-15 minutes (Nugent & Sons measured for approximately 20 minutes and the highest it got was 15 ppm of CO). A well-tuned gas stove puts out 5-15 ppm of CO, measured near the stove. The BPI- Building Analyst I hired did a full CAZ test and found the furnace to be completely safe. He measured the CO level in the flue at 23 ppm and determined it's virtually impossible to back draft this CAZ. I know this was a long review, but I'm so mad at this blatant attempt at fraud that either I warn consumers away from Nugent & Sons here or I go tell my story to the Fairfax County district attorney and see what they will do with this information.
We have used Nugent and Son for our several properties, for years now to include installing new systems. We called for service first thing in the morning and could not get anyone out until a 1200 to 4 pm window. Jason showed up at 4:45 pm - 45 minutes late. He checked the system and informed it was low on Freon, and it would be $700 dollars. He did not explain the cost of Freon - usually techs say how much the fill is per pound, etc and why it's necessary. He DEMANDED payment before the unit was serviced, which is something we never do and something Nugent and Sons has never asked. He would not check the system for a leak - which should be sone when the system is low - your company serviced the same unit last year (by now it was late Friday afternoon - Jason probably wanted to go home and gave us a sticker-shock price to check for a leak - very poor service). Service is usually provided and then paid for, especially for long-standing customers with multiple properties. Before we used NOVA HVAC for several years and then experienced something like this with them and they lost a customer over poor service and very high pricing - the same will likely happen with Nugent and Sons as we cannot do business with companies like this.

We had John Nugent & Sons recently quote and install a 2-ton Carrier heat pump to replace a very old system (including a 38-year-old air handler in a very tight space) and the experience was excellent. We received three proposals for a new system and Nugent's price was very, very attractive for the exact same equipment as a competitor. Since their recent reviews were very good we selected their proposal. Once we signed the proposal they were able to send a tech for a pre-inspection within a day or two. The actual system installation was able to be performed about one week later and was handled very professionally by Juan and Isaac. They were right on time and very careful with keeping things clean (the air handler was on our third floor) and when they left you couldn't even tell they'd been there. They were friendly and answered all our questions (e.g. how's it going?) throughout the day. Their office staff is also superb - very friendly and responsive on the scheduling phone calls and with help registering the system afterwards. I would heartily recommend John Nugent & Sons.
We have an older home, built late 40s. The drainpipe for our tub was rusted through and leaking. No easy fix -- pipes connections frozen in place, an impossibly tight workspace behind the access panel. We worried about repairs that would damage the tub or 75-year-old, impossible-to-match tile. We took bids on a bathroom remodel, and prepared ourselves for an expensive, time-consuming project.
Luckily, we called John Nugent & Sons. Michael correctly assessed the best approach and fixed the leak. He is very personable, a real pro, knows his trade and works with care. We are very happy with the work! Highly recommend!
Amazing company all around! Great customer service, fast and efficient, and trustworthy/reliable people. The prices are very fair. By far the best experience we've ever had...I have nothing but great things to say!

I scheduled an onsite estimate for a complete HVAC replacement. They were a no show for the appointment without any notice or cancellation. I called them to follow up, find out what happened and reschedule, and again, they did not show.
Not sure whats going on with this company but they appear to not value your business or time right now.

Update January 2022: We woke up this morning to find that our furnace was no longer putting out heat and the smart thermostat was blank without power. I reluctantly called John Nugent and Sons because they installed the system before we bought our house and I knew we needed this fixed ASAP before the evening. I had a poor experience with them standing me up with the water heater installation last year but I took the chance.
The person who took my call was nice and helpful. She said a technician would arrive within two hours and he showed up in about 45 minutes! What an improvement from last time!
I am upgrading my one star review to a four star review based off of their timeliness this time and the absolutely stellar work from Mr. El-Oukili. He was so friendly, explained exactly what was going on, and fixed our issue in less than an hour! I will be specifically requesting him next time we have problems with the hvac.
TLDR: service was quick and the technician was great. There still may be a chance they no-show but I'll be giving them another shot after this time.

Beware. Nugent technician came to our house twice in an effort to repair our frozen pipe. The initial repair was faulty as the pipe continued to leak around the area where he crimped the repaired pipe. Unfortunately, his second repair was also ineffective. The repaired pipe continued to leak unbeknownst to us and has caused significant damage to our basement (over 15K). Plumber from a second company we hired to fix Nugent's work advised the crimping machine Nugent technician used was likely not calibrated properly and the leak got progressively worse with time. (Price charged by second company was also significantly less than what Nugent charged.) We asked Nugent to refund the cost of their repair bills (which we thought was very reasonable considering the loss caused by their faulty work) but they have not done so.
Horrible experience today. We are part of RELAC in Reston and the cooling coils for the system need to be replaced (their condensation is dripping into our HVAC). Nugent came to give us a quote on replacing the coils. The technician was so rude - spoke loudly, was very short tempered, and even demanded my husband stand back even though he was more than 6 feet away from the tech. My husband was of course wearing a mask and being careful; we have a newborn and a toddler, and I am an ICU nurse. We go above and beyond to take appropriate COVID precautions.
The tech then refused to even *look* at the coils. He claimed RELAC does great work and that he assumed Nugent would charge $3000+ for the service (RELAC quoted us less than 2/3 of that). He made this claim without even seeing the coils or the condensation into our HVAC unit. He then declared I gotta get out of here and stormed out. Completely unhelpful, unprofessional, and rude.
Most frustratingly, we are service contract holders with Nugent. We will of course be cancelling said contract effective today. In the past, we had them replace our HVAC (March of 2019), which was a fairly good experience except that the unit was placed on top of a floor drain. Prior to that, they did some plumbing work for us that was done incorrectly and needed to be remediated the following day, so not great there either.
The front office staff is top notch - helpful, responsive, and with great follow up. It's a shame this tech has ruined our relationship with this company.
My whole experience with John Nugent & Sons was very positive starting from providing me a quote up to the installation of new equipment - Carrier Infinity heating/cooling.
Lucas was very patient and not pushy to make a decision and I took all the time to research, consult and finally make a decision on the equipment brand and model. He was addressing all our questions diligently and met all our conditions which made our decision to work with John Nugent. Thanks for excellent support Lucas!
The installation went great, the crew -Jorge, Juan and Nicholas came on time, worked very professionally, accurately and clean, explaining us all the issues and clarifying questions. We appreciate their suggestion on how to use the system effectively so that it serves for longer years though it added more hours to the work. They protected the floors with the fabric and cleaned after finishing the work. We are also thankful to Dave who came today and installed a surge protector and took time to explain how it works. Excellent work guys!
And thanks to customer support which is very responsive and helpful.
Now is the turn for the equipment to show itself and prove we've made right decision in going with the best of the line:-)
We would definitely recommend John Nugent & Sons to anyone who wants quality and value for their money!

Nugent recently installed a whole house generator for us and one of the techs was Jake Harrington. The crew did a masterful job despite some troublesome weather. Since then Jake has done outstanding follow-up work for us and our neighbor, who also received a Nugent-installed generator. What truly has made Jake a standout for us is how he has responded to the failures of a generator component in both our units, how he identified the problem (bad hardware) and the lengths he went to to provide replacements and notification to the manufacturer. Techs like Jake are a credit to the industry and underline our confidence in Nugent.

Have this company helped replacing HVAC unit. They did a very good job with reasonable price, and offered free one year maintenance. We got a small issue a few months later, they showed up for free to help us. Very responsible and thoughtful service.

I have been using John Nugent for a long time. I have never been disappointed. They provide excellent service. Recently, Ben came to my rescue. He is a very experienced and knowledgeable plumber.
I've had a great experience with both the heating/AC division of John Nugent as well as the electrical side. Most recently, Justin worked to install a new outside light fixture and did a great job. While he had to cut into drywall in my basement ceiling, he did it so carefully and seemed to fish the wire such that there was very little clean up or mess. As to the heating/AC side, the company installed a mini-split for me and also figured out a way to install a baseboard radiator in a back room. This was not an easy task and at one point I had several reps from the company looking at the area to discern how the necessary pipes could be placed in this room and heat provided without the use of an existing radiator that was no longer in place. I think the company is particularly good at coming up with creative and well thought out solutions to difficult HVAC and electrical issues. The work is very high quality and they are my go-to company now for electrical and HVAC.

We reached out to Nugent and Sons to get a quote for some HVAC work in the basement we are remodeling. The Nugent and Sons quote was much, much higher than any other company we were looking at; others were charging between $1200 and $2000 and Nugent's representative Mike quoted close to $6000. When I asked for an itemized quote to understand the discrepancy, Mike Jackson wrote an unhelpful email, noting in his email: Hello. We don't break down pricing. We have set pricing. Moving the units is a lot of work. Gas line, flue, extending/changing ductwork etc. same with the water heater. I've worked for a contractor in Fairfax County and know the permitting process well. Anyone can look up the price for permitting, which I did. Adding up the cost of permitting, materials, 6 hrs of labor at $150 an hour, and a healthy margin still didn't get the numbers up to $2k, let alone the $5850 they were charging here.
After I pointed out how much the job should cost, Mike stopped responding to my emails and then told my wife he didn't want to work with us. Having been a contractor in this area; it's deeply disturbing to me that there are companies like this out here trying to pull the wool over people's eyes. Take your business elsewhere. Josh at Brennan's Heating and Air Conditioning will do a much better job for you and your family. They'll answer your questions and won't be condescending or try to scam you.
Mike from Nugent was very unhelpful and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. We received quotes from several companies (McCarthy Services, ARS, Brennan's, just to name a couple) and Mike was the only one who came off as extremely unprofessional. The rest were a pleasure to work with.
These people don't show and don't call when they don't. They were supposed to be here between 8 and 12, , and they did not come and did not call. I got a call after I got a message from them claiming they were supposed to be coming later. That was just not true. I called another electrician.
HVAC done right, no shortcuts.
We got lucky and discovered that we needed new HVAC for our home in March -- best time of year to get that work done. The gentleman who did the estimate helped me understand how the old HVAC had not quite been set up right. For example, the UV lamp and catalyst were in the wrong place in the flow. He assured me that they'd put it in the right place when they reinstalled my old one (perfectly good, no need to replace). The solenoid for the humidifier had gone bad, but it was work they'd done previously not too long before, so he assured me they'd replace the solenoid and get the humidifier working. He presented solid options which I took a little time exploring online. I felt good with the options, and decided to take advantage of the free financing. They found our parts and we were on the calendar in about a week -- did I mention that March beats December or July for HVAC work?
The crew came as scheduled and got right to work. A couple of issues came up where things weren't going exactly as we wanted. The thermostat they installed was black instead of the white I'd hoped for; I pointed it out and asked if they could swap it out; they found a white one, had it brought to the site, and installed it, no problem. Then the team lead pointed out that the existing UV lamp and catalyst was on a too-short wire to be located where it was supposed to go, but I talked with him about it, saw that we could rewire it to a closer outlet, and it ended up exactly where it is supposed to be. Bottom line: There were bumps (aren't there always?) but the team made things work out perfectly.
They left the house as clean as they found it, wore masks the whole time, and generally put me at ease. They were professional and friendly. More importantly, when I asked a lot of questions, they were patient and knew what they were talking about (it seems -- I'm no expert.)
The new system is working beautifully and getting it done was a lot easier than I thought it might be. I am glad to have a maintenance contract with them and I strongly recommend them.

On Wednesday March 4th I had a crew from John Nugent and Sons come install a new HVAC system for us , they went above and beyond the call of duty to make the install as smooth and perfect as possible, they even moved my outdoor unit for us since it was to close to the meter. Let me tell you I LOVE OUR NEW SYSTEM! I highly recommend them to anyone who needs any HVAC work, you wont regret it! Ive attached pictures before and after
**Use Caution** I recently contracted with this company for their annual service contact ($395). My first call to them was to install a new toilet. The repair man said he was new. The estimate to install a new toilet was over $600 ($678 to be exact). The estimate to snake a slow moving drain $458. Estimate to replace a faucet cartridge was $358 plus to cost of the part estimated between $300-600. When I question about my service contract discount, the repair man replied, I don't know anything about that, but I have a Plumber License. Oh, to add a little more details to this experience; ...this estimated was scribbled on the back of his business card after he returned to his shiny new truck to work up the estimate for 20 minutes. Completely unprofessional, overprice and out of my home.
OUTRAGEOUS!
Nugent & Son also double charged my account for my service contract and when I called, they quickly reversed the charges. This is not a company I felt comfortable with at all.
This is not the same company I came to know a few years ago.

Just had a great repair experience with John Nugent & Son's. My hot water heater went out on Saturday night. Not knowing if this was an emergency repair due to the pilot/gas I made a call to Nugent & Son's Sunday morning. I received a call within 15 minutes from Ray on of their technician on-call. Ray walk me thru the potential issues and reassured me that there were no immediate issues. Ray immediate took all my information and let me know that he would try to make this his 1st service call on Monday.
Well - Ray was at my house before 9:00 am today and by 1:00 pm - I had a new hot water. Ray was very professional and answered all my questions.
Another great experience with John Nugent & Son's.
Loyal customer for all 30 years!

John Nugent and Sons installed our heating and cooling unit when we finished our basement 5 years ago. It has been running great but last night our cooling unit upstairs stopped working. I called them at 8pm and their front office called me at 8:30 in the am and sent over a technician by 10 am the same morning.
The front office staff and technicians are extremely polite and professional. Charges were very reasonable, as well. I would recommend them any time.
I am totally happy with Nugent's excellent service. From the estimate to the finish we were completely satisfactory! The estimator was very kind and knowledgeable to recommend the right system just fitted to our house. He was flexible enough to accommodate all options within the budget. He was very efficient and approachable. The installers were very professional and skillful! Also, they explain all questions I asked very kindly. BTW, we replaced all heating system and A/C with Carrier system. I have nothing but the positive ratings on Nugent services. Nugent was my best experiences among all HVAC services I got last 30 years. I strongly recommend to use this contractor for your HVAC system.
I needed help installing my Nest Thermostat in my apartment unit. I tried myself but blew a fuse (whoops). Jason came out and walked me through what to do and had it up and running in no time. He did a great job and I am satisfied with the service. The pricing was upfront and transparent and I feel very fair. I would recommend them to anybody in need of HVAC service. Five stars!

As I said to the HVAC tech, Todd, after he finished the job on our boiler, ...where have you guys been all my life? After having other HVAC companies in the area service my system for years and feeling like I was a victim of highway robbery, I decided to try Nugent & Sons. They should have been my first and only choice--and will be from now on!
First of all, they fit me in for a next day appointment, were super responsive and the tech came right on time. My system is now working like a champ and I felt the charge was very reasonable. Thank you, Todd and Nugent & Sons, you are my new go-to company!!
This company is great. I've used them for a commercial HVAC contract (which is my previous review), residential plumbing and electrical.
This review is for the work I've had done at the house. I put in a wet bar, and John Nugent did the plumbing and moved & installed electrical outlets. Why is John Nugent better than the other companies that advertise on the local TV Stations? You know the ones with the jingles that come on every 15 minutes...
- Their prices are much more reasonable
- They show up during their appointment hours
- Their techs call when they are about 30 minutes out
- Their techs seem very skilled.
The last point is I guess subjective, since the whole reason I'm hiring a company like John Nugent is because I don't know HVAC, electrical or plumbing. However, having used other companies in the past, I suppose its just a 'feeling' that John Nugent's techs seem more long-term and skilled employees than the other large companies with the morning TV jingles. Plus, since they don't have to pay for all those commercials on TV, their prices always come in lower than the other jingle companies. I've had 3 different techs show up for the various jobs, and they've all been great.
Edit: I forgot to mention, that when the plumber came by for the estimate the first time, I asked him about flushing the water heater. When one of the other jingle companies came by, I asked the tech about doing the same thing. He asked if I had other done it before, and I said we hadn't. That tech said that they could do it, but didn't seem comfortable with it... but did quote more for it.
When the plumber from John Nugent came by, he asked me the same question. The John Nugent plumber said to just leave it. I could cause more problems flushing it now because I hadn't done it in 6 years. That scored big points. He was honest with me even though that meant the company would make less from me on that job.
100% John Nugent will be my first call for any future electrical, plumbing, HVAC or other work needed. I highly recommend them!

Came out next day but not within the 4 hour timeframe. Got no information about when he would come.
Work was done fine. Explained well. Working with gloves was difficult but the technician completed the job.
However, I have yet to receive the itemized breakdown of the bill I requested in response to their email.
A/C was making a terrible noise on a 97 degree day. I called N&S and they sent a tech out the next day. Bladimir was a real pro, troubleshooting the unit and determine the need for a new capacitor. He ordered the part and returned the very next day for the replacement. Part was covered under warranty and labor charge was more than reasonable. Best of all, Bladimir was polite, courteous, and professional. Associates like him guarantee customer return to Nugent & Sons.

Had a very good experience with John Nugent & Sons. We had our entire HVAC system replaced in January and it was done flawlessly from initial contact to installation. Our contact with Carl went well, no upselling just an honest evaluation and price. When the team came out for the install it went quickly and cleanly with masks and distancing maintained. Polite, professional and great service.
Highly recommend Ray Carroll with John Nugent and Sons. He's professional, kind, and does efficient clean work. Great guy!
I didn't think to look at yelp but a few of the neighbors had recommended them as we had an unexpected leak from an upstairs bathroom coming into our kitchen. I called yesterday afternoon and they were able to have someone come out the following morning (today). Which was fine as it wasn't an emergency. They gave me a 4 hour window and told me the plumber would call me when they're on the way. Which is what they did. The gentleman was courteous and professional. He did a thorough assessment and determined the possible culprit of the leak which didn't require anything beyond the diagnostic fee (which was a relief). I will certainly be calling them again the future as there are a few other things that are beyond the scope of what my handy husband can handle.

So John Nugent & Sons installed my heat pump and everything went good the only reason I didn't give them a five star is because I was told a Nate certified technician was going to be at my house for the installation of my new system. I asked all the technicians at my townhouse if they were and Nate Certified and everyone said no. All the technicians did a great job very respectful they didn't make a mess and didn't smoke cigarettes which was nice so my place didn't smell like smoke. The only other issue which is minor but would of been nice was after spending any dollar amount you should expect a follow up call from the office to make sure everything went smoothly and I was happy with my new system or repair, I might be asking for to much but that's what I offer to my customers. Because those reason I couldn't give them a 5 star but they are a 5 star company otherwise. I would recommend them to friends and family. They did everything they said they would do on the install.
The heat pump in our house in Burke went out. I called around and got several bids. John Nugent & Sons weren't the cheapest, but they were close, and I liked the inspection and efficiency of the unit they had. Installation took one day and everything was great for a year.
Then the system went out. JN&S came out that same day and spent several hours troubleshooting. They found a bad board and replaced it - no charge. Then the system went out again. They came out, and, after a few hours, found the thermostat was bad. Replaced it with a cheap one temporarily while I got another smart thermostat. System went out two hours later. They came back and found the same board that had gone bad before was bad again. But before replacing it, they wanted to figure out what was going wrong in the system to cause these troubles - clearly, there was an underlying issue. It was late, and the tech asked if we had space heaters for the night (it was winter.) We did, so he left.
A different tech came back the next day. It took several hours, but he found a bad wire connecting the thermostat to the indoor unit. He jury rigged something so the system would run, and came back again a day or so later. He had a new board for the outdoor unit, pulled the wire, installed a new wire, and the system has worked flawlessly for a couple of months now.
One of the techs was a bit impatient with all of the problems - not bad, just a bit impatient, fair but a bit of a harsh attitude. The original salesman called to apologize for the tech's misunderstanding, and made sure that I was taken care of. Every other tech was fantastic. After a half dozen visits, some of which took two people several hours each, there was no charge. Everything covered under warranty.
100%. Would hire again.
Leesburg Home Depot Aug 14, 2020, around 4:00 truck T69 driven by some young guy with an older guy as passenger. The John Nugent & Sons truck nearly wrecked into my parked vehicle turning into the parking lot going way too fast the driver could not make a full turn into the driving lane and had to go into the parked cars area before slamming on the breaks. I was aghast. They had the nerve to get out of their truck, stop behind my vehicle and laugh at me. As they walked to the store they continued to talk about how they scared the shhhhit out of me while continuing to laugh and look back. I had my window open and could hear the conversation. I started to get out of my vehicle and was greeted with the middle finger by the older man I decided they may have a gun. They could show violence. God only know what these two were capable of doing. I just thought I would tell any potential customers how my interaction with this company went. And in case anybody is wondering, I have never heard of this company until this incident, and I have been a 20-year LoCo resident. I have no idea how many employees they have or the quality or lack of it they perform. I only want to let potential customers about my one and only experience with two of its employees. For all I know they were John Nugent and one of his sons. Hope none of their customers are ever as disturbed or frightened as I was when their truck pulls up to service a customer.

We had a great experience with Nugent and sons. They were professional, covered every base and left my house as if they were never there, except for the beautiful job they did installing our complete hvac system which was due for replacement. They finished the job by sending a sweet thank you in the mail. Classy!
My A/C conked out in September, so I got some quotes on various installations/equipment. Nugent's estimate was not only fair, but also included the best equipment and an upgrade to a 16 SEER unit. Two techs came out, quick and professional installation both inside and outside.
Fast forward to January when I realized my humidifier was not functioning. When Nugent installed the AC they removed the manual humidifier control and instead directly wired it into my thermostat. Problem: Black power wire in thermostat but dark brown wire to the humidifier, an honest mistake based on low light and dark wires. Called them and they sent a tech over the same day, found the problem and fixed it for me at no cost.
Bottom line: Highly recommend based on price, quality equipment, installation service and...follow on service if needed. No games, to bait and switch and no avoiding responsibility if a mistake is made. What else can you ask for?
If I could give this place a zero star review I would.
1. Showed up late on the initial evaluation of services
2. Showed up late for first appointment(scheduled from 2-4pm, showed up at 530)
3. Left a hole in the drywall and didn't have the part to fix the repair needed
4. Showed up late for second appointment after requesting earlier in the day (scheduled from 12-2pm, showed up at 500, sat in truck until 515)
5. After starting work at 515, didn't take more than 5 minutes to fix the problem. Total charge was 750$ + the 95$ for initial evaluation.
6. Michael, (the plumber) was unapologetic for being late
Will not be using them again. Hopefully this review helps someone else avoid this headache.

I had a problem with a breaker tripping and didn't have an electrician in mind. I put out messages and heard back from Nugent & Sons. Their initial fee was lower and they could come out right away. Their employees were very respectful and knowledgeable. They quickly diagnosed the problem and were able to fix it the same day.
Very professional, timely, excellent installation quality. They replaced our water heater, A/C unit, and water pump. Cleared inspection in flying colors.

Edwin, Juan and Bryan just spent the day installing a new gas furnace, a/c and evaporator coil for us. I cannot speak highly enough about them. They were extremely polite and friendly, and did an amazing job with the installation. They had a big job here, and you never would have known! They cleaned up beautifully, and left not a single piece of dirt, cardboard or equipment behind. The system installation is flawless! When they were done, everything was explained to us in detail. Carl gave us our original estimate, and he was fantastic too! This company is awesome, and we will for sure use them for any future needs.
I called this company to come see why my heater was not working. My existing unit was the highest end of a very well known fancy brand, and just past warranty. The first tech that came out, thought it was just a sensor, wiped it clean, and the heater worked while the tech was there, but then stopped an hour later. I called and another tech came out the next day (yes, very prompt service both times which is appreciated). This tech said that the problem was the computer board, a very expensive part and that these machines don't usually last more than a decade. I was shocked and not ready spend that much money. I had already paid for the service visit too.
Turns out a friend of a friend is a commercial HVAC guy with 30 years experience. He comes to my house, inspects the heater, and determines that it is valve that isn't working properly. The Nugent guy didn't even think to test the value. Turns out there are even diagnostic codes to direct one to the problem on this fancy machine - Nugent guy didn't even look at them. So, it was a $200 part, but the thing has been working smoothly now for months.
So - Nugent & Sons, you either need to get some technicians who understand the machines, or stop training them tell their customers they need a new $10k system. Neither technician really understood how the system worked (which I realized when the experienced guy was examining the unit), they relied only on a meter testing system. Oops, meter says it doesn't work! Neither knew that my $10k system provides diagnostic codes -which would have directed them to the precise problem and steered them away from the expensive computer part.
Friend saved me $10k, thank you friend.

We had a fair experience with the HVAC installation, but the follow-up and attention to detail post-installation has been frustrating. We spent a great deal of money to have our HVAC unit replaced, but the install team rushed the electrical connections. As a result, the loose connections caused the lights to flicker in the house after they left. They did come back to repair it, free of charge, but with no apologies or recognition that we had to take additional time off work.
We also took more time off work to wait for the county inspection of our unit. John Nugent & Sons made no effort to call us with an update regarding the time of the inspection, despite us calling them three times that day with repeated promises from their staff that they would call us right back. The county inspection ended up being a no show. The inspector showed up the next day, completely unscheduled or unannounced. The inspector also informed us that we would need a gas inspection too - something we were unaware of and this means yet more time off of work.
John Nugent & Sons seemed more than happy to take our money, but made no effort to value our time or customer experience.

Please do yourself a favor and use another company. Once you sign on the dotted line all decent customer service goes right out the window. I had an entire HVAC system replaced to the tune of $16 K. And yet all I got was rude, impatient and misogynistic service managers.
I had several problems during the install (heating element not attached properly, air conditioner not installed all the way) and the equipment (a faulty thermostat) and each time i was told that I was imagining it. I have undertaken several home renovations and this was by far the worst experience i have ever had.
Take your business and money elsewhere.
Shawn came out and fixed a burnt up contactor after I called JNS because I kept hearing a loud clicking noise from my unit (the contactor had worn out and kept trying to make a connection but couldn't, therefore putting my unit into auxiliary mode constantly).
Got the contactor replaced and labor for just under $300, and everything seems to be working great. Make sure you request Shawn if possible when you put in your service call.
Had all of my work done with John Nugent and sons. Replaced my HVAC, electrical work, sump pump check and generator install. Always great experience, experienced crews, super professional and timely. Can't recommend enough.
Edit: Nugent and sons to the rescue once again!!! Basement all soppy wet, water heater ready to go, and they sent a plumber out today to get me sorted out. Best company out there!!!
----I can't say enough about this wonderful family owned company. They are always quick to respond and help out whenever I have a heating or cooling issue. Their employees are incredibly professional and timely. Their work is impeccable. I'm so grateful to know I can count on them. Because you know your heating and cooling issues always occur at the most drastic times! They will be there the day after you call! Or the same day if they can. I've relied on them for over 15 years. They never let me down. Thank you!
Very professional, highly experienced team that brought great ideas to the table when it came to replacing my two zone system. Best price too among four bids.
Our heat stopped working sometime in the night, and it's only 15 degrees outside. I called Nugent & Sons based on the reccommendation of a friend. Not only was the person who took my call incredibly helpful but we had a serviceman at our home within a few hours. He was professional, courteous and had us up and running again pretty quickly. I'm highly impressed by their customer service!

I did call today and someone came in today as well, saying it will be same cost as last time but paying over $1000 for soon to be broken ac again is not worth for a half season.
But thanks for sending someone that quickly for eatimates.

As recent homeowners, there is a bevy of new service companies we need to find. We needed both a very simple plumbing repair and our HVAC system to be evaluated after we moved in, so I called Nugent. I was very impressed with both service experiences. Scheduling the services was easy, and both technicians phoned when they were about 30 minutes away, which I always appreciate. The plumber agreed the service we needed was so simple he didn't feel right charging us for the actual labor, so he only charged the service fee, and even said that if we got a new water heater (which we probably need) and used him, that he would take his service call off the cost of the water heater, which was very generous. The HVAC technician who came was very friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. Our blower motor needed an intense cleaning, so he provided a quote for getting that done on another occasion. He took the time to explain a few different suggestions he had for us (I had several questions that arose during our home inspection) and he patiently answered each of them. I appreciated the thoroughness of the service, especially at the cost, and will be using Nugent for my HVAC and plumbing needs.

My husband and I purchased an air handler and heat pump (aka complete HVAC replacement) after our 12-year-old heat pump motor broke. As a first time homeowner, with a very limited understanding of how heating/cooling system mechanics work, Nugent & Sons was very helpful in explaining the exact problem, detailing potential options and remedies, and answering my many questions. Their quotes were extremely competitive -- they provided 4 options for our townhome and were frank about us not needing more expensive options -- and thankfully, at a much lower cost than I was expecting. I never felt like they were trying to upsell me or put any pressure on me to go in a certain direction.
They were able to replace our HVAC within 4 days of the tech diagnosing the problem! They had estimated that the work could take 8-9 hours to complete. The techs were scheduled to show up at 7am on a Friday morning to do the install, and they arrived earlier but waited patiently outside before knocking on our door promptly at 7am. They were super organized, professional, tidy, and respectful of me (working from home) and my dog (stressed and anxious). They carefully rearranged our belongings in our basement so that they could move equipment in and out of the house, laid down drop cloths, and cleaned up so well -- you wouldn't have even known they were there, except they left our basement cleaner than it was before they arrived!!! They expertly installed a new thermostat that I provided them with, and ended up wrapping up the work ahead of schedule (around 1pm) and showed me the key features of the new heat pump and air handler before they left and described the warranty requirements. And they left with ALL of the old parts from our previous HVAC so we didn't have to dispose of a single thing.
Throughout this week, I had called their corporate office several times for scheduling and to ask questions and my calls were always picked up immediately by a real person and my concerns resolved courteously. Also, before each visit to our house, they called when they were about 30 mins out so that either my husband and I could plan to be there to meet them. 10/10 would recommend to neighbors in the NOVA area looking for experts in heating, cooling, and electricity.
Great service. Friendly, and helpful repair man. Our air conditioning unit was not functioning properly, and they sent a repairman the day we called. His name was Jason Y. and he was very thorough and he fixed the issue in a short amount of time with no hassle. I highly recommend this company to anyone who seeks an a/c repair or replacement.

Nugent has been servicing my furnace for the past four years. This year Chung did a wholly inadequate job. He gave it a cursory once over in less than 20 minutes and did no cleaning, unlike in years past. In a call to management, Walter would not give an inch. The $80 does not include cleaning. Chung is one of our best mechanics. Never heard a complaint before. The whole company line. No offer to make it right.
NUGENT OR HIS SONS NEVER AGAIN. As an aside, I am wondering who they think is supposed to do the cleaning? The homeowner? Or is the furnace supposed to accumulate dirt until it fails? Or does Nugent expect a payment above $80 to do a cleaning? Five stars to one in a day.
Over 4 hours late to the quote appointment. When they showed later to perform the work, the company failed to pre-coordinate for Miss Utility markings, thus starting the work over 6 hours late. An estimated 4-hour job therefore took two days. No phone calls, no concessions for my time. Work was good and techs were polite and proficient. Not happy with the professionalism of this company however. The customer's time is of no apparent value to this organization. When confronted, they offered me $100 discount on a $6000+ job - ~1.5%.
Our heat went out before the first cold weekend of the season. Called John Nugent and they came over ASAP to diagnosis the problem. we decided it was best to install a new furnace /AC/condenser ( since our unit was very old and more cost effective to replace it). Our technicians were Jorge, Oscar and Bryan who did an amazing job. They were professional and thorough from the start of the job to the completion. I would highly recommend this company. thanks again :)

TERRIBLE! DISHONEST!
They told me they give free estimates. So I scheduled an appointment.
The estimate was so high and ridiculous that I decided to call someone else.
Another company did the work for half the price and now, five months later, I get a bill for $95.
When I told the woman I was told they give free estimates, she said that is when we replace the unit! What? I would have never agreed to $95 for a quote.
Be careful. They were dishonest with me!
I recently had Nugent and sons install 2 furnaces/AC units, a water heater, air ducts and repair a faulty plumbing problem original to the house. I had solicited quotes from two very well regarded HVAC contractors (based on Yelp reviews). I chose Nugent and sons based on the professionalism of the people who promptly came out to bid on the project and the detail of their proposal. The fact that their quote was less than the other contractor cemented the deal. I was not disappointed in picking Nugent and sons.
While I had a hiccup with them on the sequence of work to be done, it is the professionalism and quality of their work that really impressed me. I'm a nitpicker and could find no faults with their work. The installation was sharp, exacting and frankly, should be used as an industry example of how to correctly install a furnace, evaporator coil and associated ductwork. The work crew was extremely courteous and addressed all my questions.
My project was more complicated than most installations because they needed to correct a major problem caused by the previous homeowner's HVAC crew who incorrectly located a steam injection point for the humidifier. Turns out there was inadequate airflow in the site they chose. Consequently the steam was not properly dispersed and condensed on the downstream ductwork, which corroded over years of use and created pinhole leaks. Nugent and sons' solution was to replace affected ductwork and locate the steam injection point at an area of high airflow. This was a major and unforeseen problem that was missed during home inspection (that's another story). Drywall needed to be torn down to expose the damaged ductwork and then repaired after new ductwork was installed. The people Nugent and sons subcontract for drywall repair are just as professional as they are. I'm very happy with their work too.
My only gripe about the project is that Nugent and sons, like some other plumbers I've hired, do not see the need for having clean drop cloths for the work areas as a high priority. While the work crew was extremely neat and orderly, cleaning up after themselves and always using booties before entering the house, their drop cloths made be wonder if perhaps their laundry service is on strike. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with their work and would definitely recommend them.
One other thing...When the county inspector came out to check for code compliance, he commented the job was impressive. He stated that only a couple of contractors in the county do such neat, professional looking installations. Nugent and sons was one of them.
35 years and counting, we've been customers. Most recently Jackson and Erica were in our home to inspect our air conditioning units. We thought they needed to be replaced. After some quick maintenance and helpful suggestions from Nugent & Sons, we saved thousands!! Jackson reminded me during his visit he sold us our original unit 12+ years ago. SO this proves Nugent & Sons dependability not only with their clients but their employees as well. BRAVO!!

A HUGE thank you to the John Nugent and Sons team!
It started with Ron and Carl coming over and taking the time to show me exactly what broke on my heat pump and air handler, going through all of the different options with me, and making sure that both my wife and I were comfortable making an informed decision to replace the whole system.
The next morning they were to come over and take measurements so any parts needing fabrication would be ready to go when the new system was going to be installed in the next few days. Instead we had an army of trucks pull up, they ripped out the old unit, and did whatever they had to do to get the new unit standing so my pregnant wife and I would have emergency heat for the night. The next day they came back and finished up the job.
I was absolutely amazed at the level of professionalism every person showing up to my house had, and how they all went above and beyond what was expected to help us out.
I was unhappy with the quality of work from John Nugent & Sons. I had an electrician out to investigate a heated floor thermostat which had a ground fault indicator light that would not go off. The electrician took it apart, made some measurements, and concluded that the thermostat was broken and should be replaced. I purchased a new thermostat but after installing it the GFI light on the new unit remained lit. I removed the thermostat and took some simple measurements and discovered a ground fault in one of the heating pads. The electrician did not check for a ground fault when diagnosing a ground fault indicator, which is absolutely elementary. When I called to complain someone took my message and said that a manager would call me back but no one ever did.
My wife and i are in the process finishing our basement and doing most of the work ourselves to save on money. However we needed a quality plumber to do a bit of plumbing work on the basement bathroom installation. We contacted John Nugent & Sons (JN&S). I had the amazing pleasure of working with Gilbert Rodriguez. My wife and I both enjoy ballet, plays and musicals...I've always likened watching a tradesman working their craft with a keen level of passion and efficiency as watching a ballet unfold before your eyes. Gilbert is an amazing craftsman and his passion and love for his work is self evident. One of the great benefits of being a JN&S we've discovered is you can call them and ask for a tradesman by name. We've decided that any future plumbing work we need done we're calling Nugent & Sons and asking for Gilbert.

At 11pm on a Saturday I returned home to an 80 degree house and my wife saying the AC wasn't working. After spending 30 minutes on my own trying to troubleshoot, as I figured there was no way to get someone out tonight anyway, I called Nugent & Sons and left a message on their emergency line, with the hope they'd call me back on Sunday so I could try to get them out. I didn't have a service contract with them. A few minutes later I received a call and 20 minutes after that Jason from the company was in my attic diagnosing the problem Not long after my AC is up and running again. He was very nice and a credit to the company. 5 stars.
Many thanks to Miguel at John Nugent & Sons, Inc. for making my recent water heater purchase and installation so easy-peasy. It is hard to arrange home repair service when you work full-time but he was so accommodating. Not one vacation hour taken!
Great, expert, fair, accommodating service.
We have used John Nugent and Sons twice. First, they did a complete HVAC install for us. Carl came out to do the estimate and he really took his time to explain things and quoted us a very fair price for a quality system. The install team did a great job and the workmanship of the duct work is outstanding. Because they diid a great job with the HVAC, we recently called them for our plumbing needs. Mitch promptly arrived the same day we called for service, and a he did a fantastic job replacing a noisy pressure valve. He was patient, professional, and the workmanship of the repair was very well done. Based on our first two experiences with this company, we will gladly call them for future work.
Idiot tech from Nugent & Sons came to repair my generator. Charged me $500 to replace a battery ($150) and serviced my unit ($350). Then messed up the setting. So when power came back it did not revert to power. So whole night we will be on generator. Argued with company but no luck in getting someone to come and fix the issue. But no luck . I am giving up and waiting for them to come tomorrow.

We had a new furnace replaced by John Nugent & Sons 2 days ago and they were great. Our furnace reached the end of it's life and the motor started to make a really loud noise. We fortunately had a contract with them and they came the same day to check it out. They discussed options, were honest and not pushy. The guys that came to do the work were on time, respectful, neat, cleaned during and after the install, went the extra mile to improve my inflow with some minor adjustments to an inflow vent and adjusted my humidifier. They worked so hard to do a good job. They are the best!

After many attempts to keep it going, our hvac unit finally died. I had three companies come out to provide an estimate, including the one I had been using for the past five years. I ended up going with Nugent and Sons and couldn't be more pleased with my experience. Our estimator, Mike J. helped make a stressful experience, easy and seamless! He didn't pressure me, promptly answered all of my questions, provided a detailed and competitive estimate, and was honest and upfront with me throughout. Another Mike came out to do the walk through prior to install. He pointed out a few things that they would be correcting in addition to the install to make our home cooler and was very knowledgeable. Both of these guys made me feel confident I was dealing with a competent, trustworthy company, which doesn't typically happen in my experiences. Yesterday, this was further solidified when Mike returned with Joel, Travis, and Ronnie to install the system. They were prompt, worked in synch together, were very courteous, professional, and considerate of my home the entire day. I wish there more contractors like this and will use them again in the future. I'm happy to give a full five stars along with my full recommendation!
We've used John Nugent & Sons for years for our periodic furnace repairs. This weekend and today I was reminded yet again what quality and timely service they provide. On Saturday, when our furnace quit during the first major snow storm of the season, they sent out a technician during the storm late in the day. When he couldn't complete the repair - needed a new blower motor - they followed up on Monday with a pair of employees, which included the owner, Pat Nugent, who completed the repair and then diagnosed and repaired an unrelated minor gas leak (at no extra charge). What a pleasure, and unfortunately all to rare, to find such personal and excellent service! Now that we know they also do plumbing and electrical work, I'll know who to turn to should the need arise! Steven B.

I used their service for an AC repair in the past. They failed to arrive on day one as promised, but ultimately resolved the situation by coming when I was available. They performed their work as promised and ensured the area was clean when finished. Their cost was typical. I never gave them permission to use my email address or contact me again via email.
However, in September 2012, I received an email from them with a viewable CC: to nearly 30 customers (including their full first and last names) to advertise a promotion. I could not believe my eyes that she disclosed the names of so many of their customers in an email! Of course, I immediately responded asking them to cease contacting me in the future.
Service: okay
Protecting their customer's privacy/common sense: major fail!
Beware!
Ouch! I phoned Nugent to tell them that I needed a particular part for my furnace and wanted to know if they could come out with the part and install it. Response: No. We will come out and diagnose the problem for $95 but if the part is not on our truck we will have to come back with the part and charge you for the second visit too. Just how rich do you have to be to enjoy Nugent's services???? Richer than I am, obviously.
We started with a coupon for an HVAC maintenance check, and it escalated (in a good way!) from there. Our house ended up needing an entire new HVAC system inside and outside, plus a new hot water heater, with some additional duct work and carpentry thrown in! Throughout it all, the Nugent team was responsive, professional, and competent. At various times, we had Ron, Carl, Chad, Travis, Jose, Tuong, and R.J. all involved. The price we ended up paying is worth it to get quality systems and a quality job done right. Thanks!
Didn't know how to do a star rating when there was no actual service rendered....anyhow:
Was looking to get a new AC system, they never called me back with the promised estimate/proposal and the woman who handled my call was incredibly rude. Went with an Arlington staple for Heating and Air.

After 13 years, the old HVAC was getting ready to give up the ghost. Rather than waiting until it dies (probably on a screaming hot day of course), we decided to act preemptively. After getting quotes from Nugent, Snells, and Vernon, we ended up going with Nugent in the end. Their quote came back WAY under Vernon (~30%) and was competitive with Snell, but they got back to us faster and could do the installation faster. When the installation came, the techs were prompt, worked quickly and quietly (at least as quiet as ductwork can ever be), and used dropcloths liberally so there was no cleanup required after they left. Additionally, they managed to get everything in and out of the house without dinging any walls, which is more impressive than it should be based on our previous experiences with household work. The only thing that kept me from giving a fifth star was that getting quote took a day longer than it could have, and that they had to come out a second time before the installation because they had to take a couple extra measurements.
Overall we had a good experience with John Nugent & Sons, and I would happily use them again next time we have some HVAC work done.
I've had a close relationship with this company for many years and have been very happy. They have repaired and replaced plumbing, such as my kitchen and bathroom faucets and shower head. I'm gearing up to have them replace another bathroom fixture set as I am remodeling. Looking forward to working with them again. The plumbing manager, Danny, has been extremely helpful and knowledgable. Love the Nugent family!
John Nugent & Sons installed an air handler and compressor on 12/16/2015. The installation team composed of Jorge, Mike and Travis did an A-plus job and the price was competitive. We have used this contractor for 27 years and have always been extremely satisfied with their service.

I've used John Nugent & Sons a few times now and have had great success with them. They are very courteous on the phone, quick to follow up, and as prompt as you can get with the time windows you need to endure with any sort of house call.
From a pricing perspective, I will say that they are not the cheapest out there, however I've bid them out on every job and they are well within my tolerance level of price variance, especially given the level of customer service you receive. When something is majorly wrong in your house (or a rental property, in my case), the customer service is what makes the difference between losing your mind or feeling comfortable that well qualified people are taking care of you. JN&S provides this comfortability level.
JN&S will always be my first call and I'm confident that I have nothing to worry about when one of their techs is at my home. They walk you through everything, talk you through their diagnosis, and make sure you completely understand what is wrong and what it's going to take to fix it. I highly recommend them.
Heat went out Friday afternoon on a holiday weekend. Called Nugent and Sons and had someone out at our house a lot faster than we expected, and the heat back on soon after that. Pleasant and helpful service on the phone and in person - my wife and I were very impressed.

We live in McLean and have used Nugent for all of our plumbing and HVAC needs for about 15 years. Whether the job is big or small, they are friendly, responsive, reliable, and stand by their work. I recommend them to everybody.

Nugent and Sons just installed a Mitsubishi heat pump mini-split heating system in my two-story studio building/guest house. They gave me a very competitive price that was more reasonable than the other estimates I got, they did the work in a timely manner, they were very pleasant and professional, and they did an awesome job. They even capped off an electrical circuit that another company had left open, which I hadn't realized. I appreciate their doing this for safety reasons. The two wall units and the external piping are all neatly done and look very nice. I recommend this company for great work.
They installed the central A/C in the house (Fairfax County) I just moved into so thought I'll also try them.
Needed to replace a 1965 bathroom tub/shower faucet knob that was dripping -- assume that the washer was worn out or the stem was metal-on-metal.
They had to order the stem - - part & labor was $170. Waited 2 weeks.
Also replaced the original laundry washer supply outlets -- $369. Didn't want dripping if I had to open or close the cold/hot water outlets in the future.
Altogether $540. Just giving you the data; you can decide for yourself.
Had a great experience today with John Nugent. I called in regards to my AC not working and they had a tech out in three hours. Quickly found the issue and replaced the part in less than 30 minutes. Also needed a plumbing issue fixed. They dispatched their plumber within and hour and a half. Again, he had the part in his truck and quickly fixed the issues. Both techs called when they were on their way. Also, both techs donned shoe covers every time they entered the house. Great experience and would definitely recommend them to anyone.

I was out of town and John Nugent & Sons was nice enough to resolve a leak at my house. Their rates appear to be higher than I'm used to seeing. Over 400 dollars to replace a washer hot water hose. If 200 a hose I would rather they had only changed one.

Our A/C Unit quit working in the late afternoon on the 4th of July. It was hot and humid and the inside temperature of the house climbed quickly. I started to contact companies and left messages on answering machines and online forms. Followed up with several again in the morning and everyone was booked or I was on hold for too long. I called John Nugent & Sons and was able to speak to a live person in less than 2 minutes. Told them we had a senior citizen living with us and we were concerned about the heat. They told us they would fit us in between 8 am and noon. We received a call shortly before 9am stating the tech was on his way. Chung was very knowledgeable and professional. Checked the system and diagnosed the issue in munites. Within the hour the AC was back on. The technician does not oversell you because it's an urgent call. They offer great advice on future maintenance and tell you about things you should consider. I believe we will take out a service contract with this company. I like the way they conduct business and I appreciate them going out of their way to fit us on such short notice.

I am seldom compelled to give reviews to contractors, my experience is that they are mostly dishonest looking to make a dollar and have little true concern for their customers, or quite frankly their reputation in the market. John Nugent & Sons proved a true exception in replacing my A/C.
My wife and I recently moved to a 1960's contemporary from a flipper. Upon installation of the A/C unit and servicing the main blower we found that the flipper took significant shortcuts and made some very poor decisions in an effort to cut corners and enhance profit. Because of that, the installation of the A/C that should have taken a day caused my Nugent rep to come out three times. They were never deterred because of the difficulty. My installation rep, Rafael, was professional, courteous, personable, and had one goal in mind - satisfy the customer need (with the best solution while displaying outstanding service).
I've always thought that with HVAC most companies can get the job done, but few are above the crowd...John Nugent & Sons stands above the crowd. John Nugent & Sons performed better the tougher the job became. This is the second home they have service HVAC for my family, I highly recommend them.

Let me preempt this review by admitting that I had so many reservations about hiring an HVAC company to replace my system that I suffered through two heat waves (100+ degree days) because I was apprehensive about committing to any of the companies that I met/spoke with. That being said, I couldn't be happier with my decision to hire John Nugent & Sons to install my new HVAC system. Initially I only called them to do a diagnostic on my old system in order to determine if it would be better to just repair my old system. Not only did they have one of the most reasonable diagnostic fees, but when the tech, Todd, came out he was so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable that I knew this was a great company (especially after already having dealt with a number of others). He really went above and beyond to help me figure out what was going on with my system. Because of him I decided to just buy a new system to have peace of mind. He set me up with someone, at no charge, to assess my home and system to help me pick out a new one that would be best for my home.
Carl was the person who came out. He was also super awesome. Unlike the other companies that I called for a new system quote, he did not just try to get in and out as quickly as possible, or try to upsell me on stuff that I really didn't need. I have an old WWII era house and the original HVAC was jerry-rigged into my home (not uncommon here) by the do-it-yourselfer tradespeople who lived here before me. I was concerned about the existing ductwork and configuration. When I conveyed this to him he took the time to inspect my entire system and ductwork, answered all of my questions (and there were many), gave me an honest assessment, and didn't try to nickel and dime me (the way some of the other companies did). He even came back prior to install with the foreman (at no charge to me) to ensure that my installation would go smoothly. They checked all of the HVAC components and addressed all my concerns.
The day of the installation couldn't have gone better. Oscar, Jose, and Trevor came to my home to do the install. They were excellent! I was really nervous about the install because I was afraid that the install would not go as I expected it to and that the new system configuration was going to eat up a whole bunch of extra room and look hideous. Let's just say that these guys were so good that it actually looked better than I expected. They were so nice and helpful. They took the time to answer all my questions, check for imperfections, and cleaned up so well that it was like they were never even here. I have no doubt that this company will take care of me going forward and I could not be happier with this company and my new system.

The process of the replacement of our homes entire Hvac system and water heater couldn't have gone any smoother! The Nugent and Sons scheduling team and operation manger called and set up the pre-install measurement appointment. Chad arrived on time and was very courteous. Then the tear out crew arrived promptly at 7:45 am, followed by two very skilled technicians who installed our new high performance system. The crew cleared away the ground and leveled up the new compressor and even re-spread the newly mulched beds. The lead tech demonstrated how the new system worked and was happy to help us re-establish pre-set programming depsite that it was nearing 5:15 and he was going to be sitting in a lot of traffic to get home. An outstanding effort from the team at Nugent and Sons
I want to convey that it was a pleasure working with John Nugent and Sons. We had an urgent issue with our heating system and these guys were really responsive. They came out and provided us with a realistic recommendation without trying to pushing other products.
They gave us appointment and arrived at the scheduled time. They did a very neat installation job and courteously responded to all my queries. They were also very responsive after the installation when we had a minor issue.
Thank you for your astounding service, I hope you continue in the same vein. I would gladly recommend your services to my friends!!
John Nugent and Sons plumbing team needs to be your go-to team for any plumbing concerns in your house. Matt Jr. was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and kept to the initially agreed upon schedule. There is a world of uncertainty with contractors, but John Nugent and Sons really do not need to be a concern at all! They replaced a main water line in my yard. On the back fill there are some areas you'd never even know were just dug up. All of the landscape the team picked up, they put back in place and they laid a plastic material down on the lawn to keep the area tidy. The service was top notch! My only detractor, to prevent this from being an easy 5 star review, was a bit of communications issues between myself, dispatch, and the plumbing team. Once resolved, the project went smooth and steady. I certainly recommend them and will use them again in the future on upgrade projects.
Used John Nugent & Sons to replace my ducts in the attic, place 2 dampers to redirect air in the summer and install a home humidifier. The crew arrived on time introduced theirselves and got to work they were careful and placed drop clothes down to protect my floors. At the end of the day although not done they made sure I had heat for the night and cleaned up very well. The following day arrived again on time and went to work. At the end of the day 2 they went over everything to ensure I knew how to operate the dampers and humidifier and let see everything they had done in the attic. My house has never felt warmer and without being dry.
Just had John Nugent replace my water heater and repair a gas leak. Gilbert was the plumber and did a spectacular job. His attention to detail, willingness to answer everyone of my OCD questions and walk me through what the process is, provide ongoing updates and his expertise in addressing a few unique problems that occurred is second to none. If you need the top gun plumber with spectacular attention to detail, only go for the maverick - Gilbert - at John Nugent. To be clear, I'm not one to post these types of reviews as I usually find issues with installations and just live with it being frustrated, but his was installation flawless and literally had the patience to answer all of my questions. That alone is worth 5 stars. Pricing was a bit higher but to honest the time he took to address all the little things, the price was worth it.
$428 to snake a kitchen sink. I guess they only like one time customers. Never again!
We had a leak in our water main, with our quarterly water usage jumping to 74K gallons from the normal 5K gallons. We tried to locate and pinpoint the leak for a spot repair but the location company could not find it. we were then faced with replacing the entire water line, from meter to the house is 130' through the neighbor's yard with a cornucopia of underground utilities (gas, electric, Verizon, etc.) that had to be located and manually dug around. We got 4 competitive bids from plumbing firms that included manually trenching the 130' (3 feet deep) new water line. Matthew Lange, Jr, of John Nugent provided the most comprehensive and competitive proposal on the spot from his iPhone. Explaining in detail the directional boring equipment they would use (they own the machine, most plumbers sub it out) to pull a new water line with minimal disruption to my neighbor's yard. Matt and his team did a great job, keeping us informed about their progress and the minor issue when they had to halt digging as it turns out Miss Utility had mismarked where the underground gas line was and they had to come back out and locate it.
Very professional, did a great job of minimizing the damage to the lawns and filled and compacted the excavations and put down grass seed. I highly recommend them! Give Matt a call 703.887.7191. You will not be disappointed. this was a very large, unplanned expenditure, but we had no choice but to replace the water line given how badly it was leaking.

Was reluctant at first given the monumental task of adding a new zone to an attic and all the accompanying details that had to go right. But once I saw the juan, jorge and bryan trio crew get to work I knew they knew their stuff. They exceeded my expectations on handling the details and that says a lot for a particularly annoying customer like myself. They put down tarps each morning & cleaned up each night. You wouldnt know they were there each day other than the work was getting done on time and -- I even got daily updates (try get that from another hvac place). From sales (Mike J) to the crew to post sales - they took care of it soup to nuts and did it right.
Let me first state that I have no experience with HVAC systems.
Early in June of 2011 my condo was having issues with the AC, and my property manager wasn't able to give me a quick response as to what was the problem as everyone else in my building had functioning AC. I called John Nugent and Sons due to some good reviews on Yelp and elsewhere.
I was given a 4 hour window for the tech to come bye and look at my system. He was nearly an hour late. When he arrived, he waved his hand over the vent, noticed that there was air coming out, but not cold. He then took a flashlight to the motor and pipes then stated that he couldn't do anything as it was a building problem. He stated that the property manager had to make the adjustments and left within 10 minutes. He noted that he was not allowed to make adjustments to the unit as the property had to maintain it.
Info was already given to the rep during the initial phone call. 1. Air was coming out, but it wasn't cold. 2. It was a condo unit. 3. Others in the building had AC.
So I was left boiling on the 3rd floor. The next day, I decided to look around myself, as I wasn't happy with such a weak assessment. I pulled off some tape around the valves, as they were covered, and the tech never even tried to peel anything off to see the valves or lines. I found a small pressure valve on both lines, which I proceeded to release and heard a bubbling sound and a sound of water filling up. Seconds later, the line got cold.
Perhaps it was too simple of a task for the tech to do, and wouldn't justify him staying to do such a general task, or since he was already an hour late, he didn't want to get stuck in rush hour traffic. (12-4 window, didn't arrive till 5) Regardless, I was very upset at the lack of effort by the company. Especially since there is a 95 dollar visit fee.
So I get the $95 visit fee invoice in the mail about a few days after, so I called the company to try to speak to a Customer Service Manager. I left a message on his phone expressing my dissatisfaction and asked for my call to be returned. A month passed, and no call. Then I get another invoice. I called back and leave another message in the general mailbox for anyone to respond to, and explain that this is the second time calling and for someone to please call me back. Well nearly 2 weeks pass, and another invoice. I remain calm and try to get a professional call back from the company, so I call and try to leave another message as no one is at their desk.
Not only has the company showed me a lazy and unresponsive approach to business, but extremely unprofessional. I understand there is a premium on goods and services in DC (I've lived here nearly 30 years) but a level of commitment and good customer service is still key in my book.
I may edit the review should they ever return my phone calls.
Look elsewhere for HVAC/Plumbing work.

Update: On July 9, 2012, two Nugent technicians arrived to address the two issues with the HVAC system. To Nugent's credit, the service manager also offered to address the issues on Saturday, July 7, but we were out of town. It was very nice for Nugent to offer to work on Saturday to address the issues.
Ultimately, the two recent Nugent techs who evaluated the system did miss one of the two issues - i.e. the second issue identified by the independent second service tech. When the service manager was advised of the second issue, he immediately added it to the repair list and did not dispute the second issue. Thus, Nugent will resolve both issues. The review above remains true, but Nugent has worked to resolve. The problem with the service was the initial response - i.e. Nugent should have been eager to resolve what was an urgent problem without four calls and some anger on my part.
Matt and Gilbert replaced our water heater and were very professional and fast. These guys were great! Job well done guys!

I was very pleased with my experience with the heating/ac techs, and have used them several times for various issues. The first time they saved me more than 5000 when another company tried to tell me I needed a whole new heating and cooling system when really all I needed was a clog to be removed from the condensation pipe. Therefore I thought I was dealing with a great and honest company.
The plumbing experience, however has made me rethink ever calling them again. The biggest variable of how you will feel about your service is the technician you deal with. Troy was unprofessional and told me how difficult the job was and how much he hates doing it (it was a leaky faucet) because he would have to take the sink off of the wall. Isn't that why you hire a plumber? Didn't instill a whole lot of confidence. Long story short, I should have trusted my instinct and hired another plumber that doesn't mind doing what he was hired to do.
If your looking for AC help, they're great. If you need a plumber, find some one else.

The Air conditioner at my house started making loud noises so I reached out to Nugent and Sons to see if it could be repaired. After about an hour the Techs told me I needed to replace most of the inside parts (blower motor, Shell housing etc) or I could replace the entire thing for about 10K. Before leaving the Tech admitted he had never seen a unit like mine before (red flag) so before giving them thousands I called a competitor. Other company fixed my unit for cheap without issue. It could be repaired they just did not have the tools, know how, or desire to do so. If you have a problem with your AC I suggest calling someone who exclusively deals with HVAC. You know what they say jack of all trades master of none. Would not recommend.
I have had these guys come out three separate times. Each time they come, they were super friendly and quick! They come when they say. They even call before they arrive. I feel like they do everything they can to give you the cheapest price and fix the problem. I would definitely recommend them to anyone with plumbing or AC problems!

Had a great experience with them. They checked and serviced our furnace and recommended a new one. We went ahead and replaced it and the price they quoted was $1k less than the price quoted last year. So far, it's working great. There was a little glitch with it at first and the manager came over and checked it within 1/2 hour.
My tankless hot water isn't working. Think it got clogged up with all the scaling. Nugent plumber quotes me turnkey price for new one seems as if they want to charge me $3k for install. Will now get competitors pricing. Hate being ripped off. No breakdown of pricing or hourly rate either.

We have been in a bind; our furnace hadn't worked since 10/14/2018. We were working with another HVAC company (the other one with sons in the name), one that had done all of our plumbing, electrical and HVAC work for a number of years. After yet another visit from a technician from that company with the same story: this part didn't fix it, we need another part, it will take a week to get that part, we'll call you when it comes in .... we finally reached the end of our rope. I called John Nugent & Sons and explained our predicament. Before calling, I read reviews from all of the big HVAC companies in Northern Virginia. John Nugent & Sons had the most favorable reviews so that's why I decided to call them. Jason Yin, our technician, was scheduled to arrive that very afternoon. Jason did a thorough assessment of our furnace. He showed us parts, walked us through his assessment process, and helped us understand what was going on with the furnace. He tested the system and was able to pinpoint some of the problems. He gave us a few repair or replace scenarios. Ultimately, we decided to replace the furnace. Jason was able to get us on the schedule for the next day to install the new furnace, which John Nugent & Sons technicians finished today. So after nearly 2 months with no working furnace and constant frustration with our former HVAC company, we have heat. And we found someone who cared that our furnace hadn't worked for almost 2 months. They've won our business for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. I can't thank Jason, the installation technicians, and John Nugent & Sons enough for being so responsive and professional.
I live in a condo with a geothermal HVAC system. The unit was not cooling correctly and I had out of town guests for the weekend. I called at 8:30 am on a Friday and spoke with a very friendly representative, who was able to answer my questions and set an appointment for that same morning. My technician Todd, arrived on time and before noon. He diagnosed the problem (a clogged condensation pipe), completed the repair and answered all of my questions. Within an hour, my unit was working properly and we were nice and cool. I will always use and recommend JNS!
Excellent customer service! We have been with John Nugent and Sons for over four years. In 2012 our great technician, Nick G., repaired our air conditioning unit the day before the infamous derecho hit, and my wife had just had ankle replacement surgery. Nick had the part in his truck and was able to fix the unit without wait, and we had air conditioning throughout the derecho ordeal. We had Nugent and Sons replace our central heating and air the same year, and the work was professional, clean and on-time. Since then we have had the same technician, Nick, performing the summer and winter maintenance checks. The company always reminds us of the needed service and initiates scheduling the visit, which is helpful for our busy schedules.I would recommend John Nugent and Sons to anyone needing dependable, professional heating and air conditioning services.

This review is primarily based on service, not price. I'm renting the home I'm in, so I didn't pay for the work that Nugent and Sons performed, but I do know that the owner did some comparison shopping, so I'm guessing it was fair.
The service from the phone calls to set up the appointments up to the actual work performed by the technicians it was very professional, prompt, and kind. The technicians - Joe and two more men (sadly, I don't remember their names) were all very helpful and went to great lengths to keep our place clean and not disturb our normal day. Even playing with our son, when my wife needed a moment of help during the day.
I will definitely use them for my own condo, if needed, and feel confident referring them to friends in the future.

If you're a hermit that never leaves the house and wants a sexist plumber then call this company!
I had a boiler installed by them a year ago and it was making noise like it was going to explode. I made an appt for a Friday, between 9am-noon. At 8:45am they called to ask if they can move my appt to after 1pm because another customer had an emergency. What about my emergency and I'm a customer too! I told them no, I could not move the time. So after putting me on hold several times they said they could send someone out at 9am. They should've done that in the first place. The guy arrives and looks at the boiler and starts asking me if I was sure it was the boiler! I had to tell him several times I saw it shaking myself so yes, I was sure. THEN he asked to speak to my husband!!!! I told him he could talk to me about it. I just COULD NOT BELIEVE in this day and age he discriminated a female home owner! He then said it needed an expansion tank which would relieve the pressure from too much water heating in the boiler and it would cost $365 and he could come back between 4-5pm to do it. Well HE NEVER CALLED, NEVER SHOWED UP. I put off running errands on my rare day off, my dogs were crated for an hour to just sit and wait around. When I called them, their offices were closed. Haven't heard from them since. Horrible customer service. I found another company that was ready to come out immediately and did the job for under $250!

We used John Nugent and Sons to look at some air conditioning issues we had been having with our primary home and one of our rental properties. The company sent over a junior tech who was unable to properly diagnose our issues and had no solution other then topping off freon in the units and suggesting that I replace the thermostat. We called back to the company and complained to the service manager who was good enough to send back a more experienced tech who was able to actually help us with the problems.
That was fine and I didn't have a huge problem staying on top of the technicians but then we experienced another issue with our second rental property. We called them back and the technician stated that the whole AC unit had to be replaced. We asked for an estimate and never heard back from the company. Between having to stay on top of the company to get the appropriate level of service and the lack of follow through and communication, my suggestion would be to look elsewhere.

I have been using John Nugent & Sons for about 3 years and I have been extremely happy with their service and their professionalism. I used them for a new A/C, humidifier and water heater, and I was so pleased that I have purchased a contract to have them service my A/C unit and furnace. (James recently did a great job) I'm definitely surprised by the negative reviews I have seen on Yelp.
Just posting this since I chose to hire another company for my spring AC checkup this year and didn't get around to posting my review of this company.
Nugent & Sons installed our heating and AC and I bought the service contract. Everything was ok a couple years. I called to schedule a winter checkup. The checkup was done but seven days later I had to call because I noticed water dripping from a pipe above the furnace. A tech came out and said just a leak from the exhaust and he applied sealer. I was charged a $95 diagnostic fee. Thought this extravagant since the tech didn't notice the leak at the checkup visit. Also on their website it stated with a service contract a diagnostic fee was $85! With the service contract you are supposed to get priority service. I had to reschedule a checkup due to their employee not showing up for work and waited another couple weeks. I asked for an estimate for a chimney liner and had no response after several phone calls...I finally emailed and got a response that they would send an estimate. They never did. Decided to find another company.
The service contract was not worth having. They charged their standard fees every year and other companies charge less for the same service! I see they now have their check up fee for $49 instead of the $79 they always charged, guess competition is good.
I called the company and told them how dissatisfied I was. I had no response. They sent me a renewal for their service contract and I sent them a letter stating all the above and still no response.
We needed to replace our HVAC system and ended up doing that in January. We received a number of estimates from different companies, but Carl and his team won our confidence and gave us a fair and competitive price. They were extremely responsive and answered any and all of the questions we asked them. Do not hesitate calling this company. We were very impressed.

Went great from the beginning. We called several top rated companies on Angie's List this Labor Day holiday morning because our central air conditioner began blowing warm air last night. The others did respond within a couple of hours but I got Dave, the HVAC technican, himself on the phone right away when I called, so by the time all of the others called back I was already expecting Dave.
He was the tech on holiday duty and was able to come over after his next call. We liked him right away. He was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. Since we were all big dog people, we had a nice chat about that before he took a look at the outside unit and immediately came inside and diagnosed and fixed what turned out to be a simple problem. He also educated us at length about various aspects of our central AC and furnace, as well as the dehumidifier we planned to buy, and what to look for in the new units we will eventually need as well as the price to expect with the various options. We appreciated this information and feel that we got a lot for the money.
We really appreciated 1) that Nugent had such great availability on the holiday and was so quick to respond, 2) the very competent technician who was great with our dogs and genuinely interested in educating us on our HVAC systems, and 3) the reasonable price for emergency service on the holiday...We just found our go-to company for HVAC services and will no doubt use them for the eventual replacement of our heating and cooling units.
My fireplace was not working properly and Nugent and Sons came out and fixed the problem very easily with a very fair price. I would definitely use them again.

We used Nugent in the past for HVAC and were very happy with them. So when a pipe broke and water was everywhere, we called them again. They were communicative, professional and QUICK. The employees were courteous and kept the area perfectly clean. They turned a terrible situation into a tolerable one. I couldn't be more pleased. And relieved!
Our favorite provider of home services, such as heating, cooling, plumbing and others. Family-owned, prompt, professional and customer-service oriented. We have been using them for over 15 years, and never dissatisfied. A little pricey, but the results are always good. They must have a good training program for their technicians because they are always very professional.

I had an issue with my HVAC and they were very prompt with service. The technician was professional and knew what he was doing. I had called several other places to try to get my HVAC fixed with no luck. They were the fastest to respond and they did a great job.
I'm in the market for a new HVAC system and I decided to call John Nugent and Sons for an estimate. My friends recommended them to me. I called and left a message on the general mailbox on Tuesday morning. I have yet to get a response from anyone.

Based on the positive reviews, I decided to give them a call to obtain an estimate for installing a humidifier. I was directed to Walt's voice mail and I did not receive a return call. I called the next day and spoke with a customer service representative that gave me a ball park estimate but could not provide details because they did not know the installation process. I was put on hold as she went to ask questions but I did not receive any more answers. The past reviews did not reflect the experience I was expecting. Maybe my service was not considered profitable enough for them to take on? The only positive here is that they answered the phone in a friendly manner.

This service provider has gone downhill in a big hurry. I've been using them for a good many years but no more. Several months ago I agreed to a service and they simply never showed up. Again, I called with a simple question prior to booking the service and never got a return phone call from the rep who didn't have the answer and was to call back. They're making a staement here and it is that they don't need your business.
These guys rock harder than TED Nugent! The plumbers employed by John Nugent and Sons are real pros. They know their craft well, perform the work cleanly and efficiently, and charge a very reasonable rate. I'd recommend this company for any job -- I've used them several times and have been very satisfied each time! Thanks JN&S!
They did several plumbing repairs including minor toilet repairs and a faucet replacement. From the time I called with my issues until the repairs were complete was about 1 week. This included an on-site estimate as well. The plumber I worked with was Danny, he was professional and easy to talk to you. He explained the problems I was having and the different options and costs associated with each. He offered advice on each of the different repair options and took the time to make sure I knew understood them. They were a pleasure to work with. I've also used them for HVAC repair and had a similar experience with that division as well.
